He was very nice and professional! I enjoyed his style very much

NIce guy, nothing bad to say, doesn't run classes too long.
a ****, but i know how to use a computer now. very clear, but sarcastic ****
Hard course unless you're already pretty good with technical computer stuff.
I dont know who these people who gave this guy a decent rating are talking about
very sarcastic, but willing to explain things again if asked

Very willing to help & explain. doesn't explain in detail, but overall hes gr8!!
How hard is it to teach from a textbook?
He answers question by making up an example that does not relate to the question
If the test questions were ever taught we could do ok.
I hate this guy so much! Out to fail us, likes to laugh at our questions!
Should be called intro to building a comptuer. Why do KINE students take this

How was that exam guys? A killer! What was that weird gate on the 2nd last p

very logical teacher tests are easy, material is well explained
No Comments
It was an easy course, he has more patience with the class than I would have had
100% agreed
TXT BOOK, TXT BOOK, don't bother going to class cause it's all in the TXT BOOK
misled me on what's on the tests...said lecture stuff but turned out to be ALL TXT BOOK...just do the labs and read the text...don't bother going to class
No Comments
BORRRRRRRING and cant teach! tries to explain something but does more damage in the end. the course itself (cosc 1520 and 1530) were useless but easy (so maybe hes not really to blame, the course is)...avoid prof and course if possible.

Worst prof ever!! Gets annoyed easily. Does not answer q's sufficiently. Rude at times. Majority of peers found him confusing.
the quizzes/essay aren't easy if you don't have a analytical thinking.
fair exam..not helpful at all!! teaches only particular topics in the textbk while exam covers everything...in fact, doesnt teach well..
What is this man doing at York? He doesn't teach the material because he doesn't know it. It seems his brain only holds 2 bits (0 and 0). He should be fired. Students should not have to put up with this at the University level.
Have no clue what's going on half the class...can't really explain stuff...although he was a bit helpfull when it came to assignments. Tests are pretty easy though
if you wanna get good grades, make sure you have past paper and notes.
Teaches well, tests are easy if u study, very approachable but tends to be a little boring. The tests were easier than the exam, so he should have prepared his class a little more for that.
Quote: "u can do nothing and just write final 100% exam" wut am i paying for? $600 for 3 hours + $150 for book??? radicilus... dont waste your time in this class do wut he basically say.. study for 2 days and get A+

he gets pissed off when u dont ask questions in class...and when u do...he'll talk about how stupid your question is...STAY AWAY
He rushes through material ahead of schedule & faster than you can do the readings. The labs take forever. I never know what the heck is going on in that class. He's helpful one on one, but that doesn't make up for how horrible his lectures are.
He is a nice guy but his teaching style is very dry. There are many problems with the COMP SCI department at York and I wont blame him alone. One of the most unprofessional faculties I've ever seen. They even made mistakes on the final exam.
classes are very unhelpful and boring. the tests are not too bad if you really do the labs- but the teaching definitely does not make the course any easier.
THis man is crazy, seriously! The winter term is very difficult. Kashiyama is not approachable at all. He gets mad when u don't ask questions in class and when u e-mail him, he'll say that u don't listen in class
very boring lecturer , many people fall asleep in his class, a nice guy , but his class is really boring........
This teacher is not good period. You can easily pass the course without going to his class or listening, and when you feel bad for him and you try to listen he is slow and confusing, and dont ask him ANYTHING, I've never seen a teacher get so pissed.

Not a very good teacher, he does not explain some things very clearly and it is not reachable either, a nice guy but not a very good professor
this guy cannot teach. going to his class is like snorting 3 bags of cocaine....your just left down for the 10 count.
asdfa
Very monotonis lectures. Nice guy,but not too helpful. The Course is easy though, so don't be to worried. Make sure you ask your questions during the lecture, this will be easiest if you sit close to the front. Gdluck:)

needs to stop reading the overheads and start lecturing
he studied philosophy but nothing about computers, explains things 6 times b/s pple did not understand his explanations, exams extremely hard, many formulas from excel which we did not even reach yet. bring a large cup of coffe to class
No , take it with someone else.last year he just walk out of the class 'cus no one knew the answer to his stupid Q.

Great prof but the course is boring and his tests are so hard! This year the exam was extremly easy! If you are planning to take this course with him prepare to study alot..
Lol. Looks like everyone from his MWF 10:30am class last winter still remembers that time he walked out angry. But overall, at least he was helpful when he wasn't mad, and at his office hours.
Great prof. Very helpfull and good lecturer. Explains things in detail. Always goes over the material with you if you aks for clarification.
awfull!!! he was one off the worst teachers I have ever had to deal with! selfish is a good word for him to! instead of helping us he is telling us to drop the course all the time. what kind of a prof is this?
Represents the ideal model of a bad professor: 1) Very Rude 2) Terrible lecturer 3) Gives ridiculously difficult tests. Lacks any passion for teaching. Has an annoying habit of clearing his throat in every other sentence and lecturing with a coffee canister in his hand. Avoid at all costs.
he's an ok guy but he's confusing..
Terrible terrible prof. I agree w/ most people that he has bad lectures and he doesn't even answer student's questions properly. He teaches his lectures with a coffee in his hand which he sips after every other word and he coughs/ clears his throat in between.
He should just quit. He doesn't know how to teach. I don't know how he is qualified to be a prof cause all he does is make students feel bad when they try to ask a question.
he marked well on the exam and made the course really easy
If u can try to avoid him....if u ask questions he will make u feel bad...and he usually tells u to refer back to the text or click the help botton on the comp. he's a crapy prof.. but a nice guy .
I think he should have been fired. He cannot be a teacher. Awful!!!!
Terrible prof. Most of these comments attest to this, but i have a responsibiltiy to post. (as i use this site often) Constantly asks students for questions, then ridicules the student for asking one. just assumes you know the material and doesnt explain it. very condescending.4 out of 10. easy exam
He is alright, nothign good and nothing bad. Most of the material he reads straight from the book. A large portion of tests are based on the labs. A suggestion for everyone taking this course is to do the labs, they are free marks that will help in the end, especially when you get a 79 final :Z
Maybe its just me but I think they need to redue this course with computers instead of making you do your tests and try to remember what the F*CK the excell formula is. I mean when you are doing your labs you will always have the program to refer back too, and well FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE ASWELL...will we ever need to memmorize the friggingSUMIF
He was a good prof!, I'm sorry but anyone who complains are just people he made fun of for talking while he is teaching (and yes you people are very annoying). He was always willing to help and constantly asking "any questions?", "is this clear"?. Never tricked us on tests or the exam, if you do all the work there is no reason not to get an A.
Kashiyama's an amazing prof!!!Very approachable, ready to answer any questions you have. His tests are easy as long as you prepared a little. His labs and assignments are an easy way to get a good grade, but doing them is totally voluntary. Moreover he gives you an opportunity to drop one or both of your midterms with grade-percent going to your final.
I loved Kashiyama. I have no idea what these people who give him these terrible ratings are talking about. He's a good prof. Very approachable and helpful. He always asks for questions - use him, ask him questions if you don't understand. He doesn't bite; he's a well-mannered, smart and nice Japanese gentleman. Make sure you do your labs - easy A.
Great prof! Take him
he was a nice guy - seemed a little impatient with teaching a bunch of idiot first-years how to make a spreadsheet - just do the labs and you'll be fine
80 students with only two students got A and none got A+.
explains everything very clearly, study for the tests and you should get a good mark, exams is pretty simple only if you study hard. hard work pays off.

What's wrong with these ratings? Paul is an awesome prof and he always spends lots of time answering questions. Great person as well, know the material, no surprises on tests and exam.
He's fair prof. He teaches the material and expects you to know them. Don't make him angry and try to stay on his good side and you will be okay! otherwise there are no garantees what might happen! !!
He's teaching is Okay... the tests are not bad either, if you go2 the lectures and study the book, will definitely get an A on those... ..................................................................................................................................................But i'm sorry to say that you will fail the final exam!
Very nice guy, explains everything. Always asks if there are any questions. Take this course with him and you will not regret.

awesome prof, always willing to help u and makes sure u understand the matrial....likes to clear his throat alot and loves saying "binary" and "8 bit pateeeeeern"
Talks like that episode of The Simpsons when Apu wanted to become an American citizen. Reads right off the weeks readings and pretends like he knows what he's talking about. Has got to have the easiest job ever.
BS course!!!! useless for my life. all we learned this semester was how to punch in some stupid formulas in Excel. this guy coughs like 500x per lecture. he thinks he knows everything.
the most stupid prof. in the world.... he actually said to the class . .. "some of you are pathetic, stupid " ...and we dont even understand what he tought to us in his class...
His lectures were alright overall, but his tests were harder than alot of the other sections. For a class that a psych student is forced to take, it was not an impressive learning experince.
Tried to teach the material as clearly as possible. You have to keep in mind that 1520 is a very boring class no matter who's teaching it. He explained everything that I didn't get and set me up for an A on the final. I figure if you're gonna have to take this calss, he's as good a prof as any.
one the most boring classes i have ever taken so i can't be too hard on him. although his lectures are still quite bland and i often wanted to fall asleep. tests were hard and do the labs!
one the most boring classes i have ever taken so i can't be too hard on him. although his lectures are still quite bland and i often wanted to fall asleep. tests were hard and do the labs!
Great prof, very approachable, very lenient, and very nice. The class itself was incredibly boring, yet easy. He also lets you drop one or both midterms, if you want. Do the labs - it's an easy A.
awesome prof !!!
one of the worst profs I've EVER had... why is this guy even 'teaching' anyways? (lectures were a waste of time) and the final, wtf?!! plz do urself a favour and take it with Lowther
Good prof - nice, approchable, helpful. Boring class. Easy A.
POSSIBLY THE WORST TEACHER IN YORK'S HISTORY. STOPPPPP COUGHINGGGG. OMFG, THIS GUY COUGHS EVER 5 SECONDS. I RECORDED 53 COUGHS IN ONE LECTURE...53!!!!! GET A GOD **** HALLS!
This guy is a big joke. He stands there with his coffee like he's all that, GET OVER YOURSELF! If you have a question he makes you feel like an idiot, well if we all have all these questions, who's the real idiot? PROF PAUL, LADIES AND GENTS.
Practically called ppl stupid when you asked a question on matireal that is really "easy" or "perfectly clear". Stay away from this course. the tests were hard- ppl did well on the assignment but it was a crazy amount of work. did so bad in course I had to drop out. subject was interesting but NOT at all worth the trouble. avoid like the plauge.
Terrible. Just terrible. His lectures consist of him reading to the class what everyone already has printed out from the WebCT, so in other words the lectures are useless. No info given on upcoming exams, and his words are a clear as smog. DO NOT take this as your NATS! Take bio of sex or something.
this has got to be one of the EASIEST profs i've ever had!! he goes out of his way to try to make sure that the students do well.. he is extremely patient and is willing to go over the same *easy* example repeatedly, even if one student doesn't understand it. anyone who gets mad at him for being a bad prof is just a lazy student!!
i took his internet nats course. HORRIBLE prof. his lecture notes r worse than if i wrote them. does not explain nething clearly. if u ask him questions thru email (which is the only way) u may not even get a reply. if ur lucky n he does, 3/5 times he wont answer wat u asked. not that hard but very bad prof. i dont recommend him.
he's such a good prof!! he teaches everything clearly and answers ANY questions that people have, and is willing to put his lecture on hold just to spend time explaining concepts to people who don't understand!! that is an EXCELLENT quality in a professor!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORINGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Used too many internet sources, and let his TAs do all the marking. Expected all students to be experts in webpages.
Attend call do the labs READ TEXT should do O.K
The worst prof at York. It is disgusting that the department still allows him to teach and to be near students. He is very rude and does not teach the class, honestly a TA or even a random person down the street can teach his class better than him. DONT TAKE
Well, Paul is extremely nice and patient... he will answer every kind of questions and he really does his best to make you understand. He answers your emails..he is helpful.. but his classes are abit boring. You can get an A easily in his course, just do the works and you'll be fine.
Online- the worst online course taken at York in my 4 years here. Rude remarks to students and does not answer emails. consider yourself lucky if you ask for clarification and does not receive a "smart" or rude comment back from him.
Not a bad professor at all. There is no textbook as all articles are online. His test are multi-choice and he is happy to clarify any questions. His lectures are a bit boring but you should attend as there are movies and the test questions sometimes reflects them. Overall work hard and you can achieve an A.
HE IS THE BEST!Don't even think of not taking a course that he is teaching!
I took this course online and it was fairly easy. The tests/assignments are all outlined really well. The only thing that annoyed me about the course was the stupid/repetitive questions in the forum from people not taking time to read things properly. He accomodated a lot of ppl b/c they complained so much about stupid things which was nice of him.
he was not that bad as ppl say. when people asked him the same questions 20x, he didn't hestitate to explain. class is very boring, tho. just study the textbook, come to class to see how he explains how to do the labs, but i think the labs are really really easy. tests are ok, do really well on atleast 1 test, and study a lot for final.
#1 complaint is the need for increased access to the Prof or TA for a virtual course. #2 Too much wining from classmates, ppl need to wake up and take the diapers off, stop complaining and start thinking. #3 online course delivery is technically really bad. The tool is clumsy and testing at a min. should indicate when you've answered the question.
Extremely dull. Refusal to even endeavour to provide aid to students.
It is rare that a professor acts so very poorly that you learn that they are a terrible human being, not just an inadequate instructor. As a student with a dissability, I could not write the test at the time provided. I was absolutely able to provide proof. Prof. Kashiyama was rude and unhelpful. Evidently unable to deal with people.
Everything was pretty straightforward, except for the binary computer math at the beginning of the course. I needed to ask a friend who majored in it to teach it to me. Paul was no help. I think it was purposely put there to screw up the arts students who are not taking computer math because they have the ability to write essays. :)
people made it a point to ask idiotic questions even though information was easily accessible. there were complaints about assignments that required making websites which is a big part of the course. binary numbers are crucial too. people should read the course title before enrolling. paul is great. he just doesn't spoonfeed.
University students are not children that need coddling. If you're not an independent learner, do not take his, or any online course. EVERYTHING was CLEARLY stated. No guess work, unless you're a dullard. He replied to e-mails quickly and had no problem reviewing a 2000+ word assignment when I disagreed with the TA's marking. I loved his style!
this site is called rate my PROFESSOR, NOT rate my course. paul lacks personality but i'm not in university to be entertained by professors. his job is to teach and he teaches well. straightforward, prompt replies to queries, and no last minute changes. he is knowledgeable about the subject and his choice of readings reflect that.
straightforward and super easy. never hesitated to answer questions. kept up with forum postings and emails so it was easy to communicate with him
i realized a bit late that i needed a nats course and paul's was the only one available which worried me because the reviews here were so bad! well, this was the only time the reviews were wrong. hes super cool, intelligent with realistic expectations. good choice of readings (lots of neil postman!) which made up for the textbook being so boring.
He is pretty easy if you attend class, and review. He's nice, and he gets to the point instead of going in a circle. Plus when a question is directed to him he answers to the best of his ability and he is understanding. His lecture are worth going to since, he does give extra information.
Paul is pretty cool. Never skip this class before the test because he gives very helpful hints. Read the textbook and ask questions OFTEN. Paul was pretty helpful to me, whenever I asked quesions, and I asked alot of them!! Also, when reading the textbook take careful notes on the bolded words, those come up in MC, in tests! An A is achievable
He is a good prof.but you cant pass his assignments without thinking critically. Anyways that should be expected as a student in university. A is attainable as long as you have a book and listen to him cus sometimes, his questions are not coming from text.
To be fair, the course I took was online. But all of the notes were unclear and unhelpful, the test questions were poorly worded, and even though I studied my butt off for Paul's course, it brought down my whole GPA.
I really had no interest in this course before I took it, but the way he taught it was actually quite cool. It was more of a hands on approach, and what I found out was that if you approached him, he was quite willing to help a student out. Granted, I took the course online so the use of the textbook was high, but he tried to insert extra readings.
I took the course online and aside the binary, it was a breeze. I really liked the HTML assignments and the readings he assigned. The most difficulty I had, other than the binary, was keeping up with the constant stupidity displayed by fellow students. He was very helpful, and kind enough to submit my grade of 66 (a C+) as a B. Love him!
I actually had three classes with him - ITEC1000, ITEC1010, NATS1700. He's a great prof, very easy to understand and explains the concepts well. He's a kind marker, and tries to help out the students as much as possible. Definitely taking his class again!!
Really good at explaining things that other teachers over-complicate. I was going to drop out of the ITEC program but this course and teacher are making me reconsider. Take any course you can with Mr. Kashiyama. You won't regret it!
I really did not like the idea of being forced to take a "Natural Science" course at York U. Having said that, I chose this course as it was offered though a totally online format. Paul came off as a polite and helpful professor on the forums. He listened to student concerns as well as offered advice for our future success.
It is not the prof but the course material. Do not think that just because some other guy has a higher score his cse 1520 class will be easier. Paul is a nice guy btw. P.D:BUY PAST FINAL EXAMS and do ALL the labs. I reviewed the past final exams 10 times before the actual final and got an A+.
Very good prof. would highly recommend
Except for the first part of the course (binary) the rest is almost pure memorization. He is a good proff and he gives good hints for tests and final. The tests are fair if you study and do the labs. Just make sure you do all the labs and having the past finals can be helpful. Overall he is a good proff.
GOOD PROFF!
Excellent prof! He takes his time to explain everything. Very approachable and is willing to help. Do the labs and try and get past exams. Most of the course is memorization so its not that difficult.
I went to every class all semester just to watch Paul sip his coffee and read off the power point slides. He is very dis-organized and I would not want to take a course with him again. If this makes any difference I got an A in the course.
Didn't go to class but still got an A. Make sure you do the readings if you choose not to go to class. Tests and exams are nearly identical each year so make sure you find past material
Awesome professor! Read the chapters and make sure you understand the concepts and you will do well! He is really understanding, and genuinely cares for the success of his students :)
Literally attended about 15 minutes of class all year. Didn't do any quizzes. Grab the labs off someone from a previous year, those are key free marks. For the final, go through the PPTs and try to understand all the concepts. Don't bother to read the textbook, it's long and you won't grasp key concepts. GO THROUGH PAST EXAMS. Ended with an A+.
I took an online course with him. Very interesting theories about computers toward society. But T.A marking is not fair and online exams are very tricky. Don't expect that this course would be easy just because its an online course.
I did a online course with him.. Tests/Exams were very tricky and made it look easy.. but it was really hard. There is so much reading and watching movies online.. but overall it was okay.. i wouldn't want to take another online course... but the teacher might be ok to take again.
One of my best profs yet. He teaches the material well and takes time to explain until u understand. easy to approach and fun to learn from
Paul is the very definition of a lecturer, not a professor. He relies very heavily on a mediocre textbook and it's associated lecture slides. Exams come from the textbook's exam bank. Course is purely memory. Exams are sentences from the textbook with words replaced with blanks. He reads the lecture slides to students. Read the book word for word.
Best and easy prof on this earth. Take it with him i'm sure you wont regret. ;)
He's a good professor. Can anyone get me the itec 1010 final exam? Willing to pay. Thanks
Great professor! His material is easy only if you focus in class. The tests/quizzes/exams are majorly based on multiple choice. He is awesome for this course! Recommended! :)
Overall fair and helpful prof, but the course material could not be more boring. Make sure you grab old exams and labs.
Great professor! Knows what he is talking about, very smart, gives real life examples. Assignments are pretty easy but need you to focus and do the work. Material covered is exactly like in the textbook. Multiple choice midterm and exam with few short answer, very fair, material from the book! Enjoyed his class a lot, he makes it very interesting!
Great prof, passionate about the course, helpful, and makes you understand difficult stuff.
The course is tough for first year students. There were about 5 assignments which were not hard nor easy, but you ll learn the course though doing assignments. at the end he came so easy on grading.
Cool dude, answers your questions no matter what. Gives many opportunities in lecture for you to ask (USE THEM). MAKE SURE YOU GO TO CLASS FOR THE BINARY CHAPTER. Tests and exam were brutal. The textbook and slides are your best friend here.
He is just a regular prof, he comes to class and lectures. He answers all questions in class and that helps a lot. Go to class for the binary chapter, he explains it really well. Do the excel assignments, they are free marks. Get past exams to study for the final, 80% of the questions were the same. Study PPT slides for exam, textbook was useless.
boring lectures, better not attend the lecture. you'll pass if you read some of the textbook
Amazing professor. Itec 1620 programming was a HARD course but prof made it interesting. Tests are challenging. He's not a boring lecturer like other profs. Awesome personality and COOL prof! Definitely recommend!
He's a cool guy, (nice ponytail). However I couldn't care much about the class., so I rarely went. That being said, do all the assigned homework (easy, free marks). Past exams will save your life. They're literally identical. Textbook use was nonexistent, note the lecture slides online. The exam weighed a cool 92% for me, it wasn't that bad.
Dr. Kashiyama is a really nice guy and knows the content well. The course material is a little but boring but it is not extremely difficult either. All the evaluations (excluding the exam) are optional, but if you do not like your exam being worth 100%, do the homework and tests. They also help you with your studying!
His lectures is a little 'flat' , and might send a misconstrued impression that it will be an easy course. However to do well in his test requires strong understanding of Java concept. The assignment questions will require a bit of time to solve (from the point of view of first-time programming learner).
Really easy class. Make sure you do all the homework. They may take about 2 hours a week to finish but easy marks. Get past tests and study before hand and you should get an easy A.
Does his possibly confusing lecture, sticks around for a bit for questions and that's all you'll need. He goes over everything he tests for and does require much else. I didn't take notes or do the readings till just before the exam and got an A. Easy course, easy Prof.
Good teacher, interesting lectures, pretty easy class too.
Do your homework assignments on time, and make sure you make a nice set of flashcards for the exams. Everything on his powerpoints can be found in the Textbook, or online (your going to have to search them yourself). HIs lectures can be dull at times, but you will remember some details that will help you do better on assignments or exams.
Java programming is not a walk in the park. It's less of a walk in the park for students who have not taken any precursor programming languages such as C or C++. It's basically the equivalent of reading literature without learning the alphabet first. This prof's attitude isn't awful, but he really needs to stop simply reading slides.
Honestly Paul isn't that bad of a prof he's just sarcastic sometimes when you ask questions but other then that the assignments are easy if you have the text you don't really need to go to class since he basically reads off the slides but if you study the slides it's easy to get a b or c+. his midterm are suicidal but the final was soft
the tests are not really correlated with the lectures. His lectures are more practical and don't really talk much the textbook. The tests are all about the textbook, if you do the readings and find the powerpoints you will do well. Lectures are useful for assignments. Lectures are very boring and all he does is read off the powerpoint.
He's an okay lecturer since he mostly just reads out the lecture slides. There no point of going to class, just read the slides and you'll be fine.
Paul is a great prof and course work is relatively easy. He is helpful when it comes to questions regarding assignments and his tests are extremely easy. Lectures are not mandatory as he just reads off slides (sometimes quite boring) and studying off the textbook would be sufficient enough for an A.
Doesnt post slides or info, reads through slides in literally 25 seconds you cant even copy down information to study.
The type of professor that just goes in lectures quickly and leaves. He doesn't care whether you learned anything or not. His class was very boring and exams were not easy at all.
Overall, he's a great prof.
Horrible.
He clearly knows what he's talking about and he'll explain concepts to you more clearly if you ask.
A rather dull course and Paul speaks pretty monotone but he knows his stuff and will answer every question to the best of his ability. He's pretty helpful when it comes to assignments as well if you ask him a question after class or go to his office hours. He sometimes deviates from the slides to explain things better which I found helpful.
He just reading out slides on the lecture, doesn't really teach useful notes of assignment. He doesn't post lecture notes.
Literally just reads the slides word for word in a monotone voice, only broken by his smokers cough. Don't bother going to class. Hard tests when he doesnt use a test bank. Doesnt always know what hes talking about. I took ITEC 1000 and ITEC 1010 with him. 1010 is the only class Ive ever dropped in uni, and I did it while I was in his lecture.
Worst professor Ive ever had in my entire life. He barely explains how to do the assignments, he reads the textbook to you in the most monotone voice youll ever hear and is very rude to his students. I have straight As in all my classes and studied for all tests and still received a bad grade in this course. Do NOT take any courses with him.
Not a good professor, but he speaks very clearly. Hes actually one of the very few ITEC profs that don't have an annoying hard to understand accent. So that's the only good thing about him. Also don't go to close to him, he smells really bad.
The WORST prof I've ever had. lectures are 3 very painfully boring hours. He goes through the slides extremely fast, however he doesn't post them online. there is almost nothing that we're graded on and his midterm and exam were NOTHING similar to what was taught in class. DO NOT RECOMMEND
I don't like to say bad things, but if you are taking 1010 don't take it with him. he will confuse you. he doesn't put the slides on Moodle some lectures he will discuss his own notes sometimes the slides that you can find online. his questions on exam are not related to his lectures. also the class is so boring you will sleep. I wish I dropped it
OKAY THIS PROF IS THE WORST. He just reads slides in class, slides which he neither posts on Moodle nor is gonna test you on. If you haven't done IT for a while it's gonna drain you (the first assignment was coding a webpage). Clearly a tough grader and doesn't appreciate your efforts. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL trust the ratings.
He is kind of monotonous and lectures are really boring, making it difficult to pay attention in class. But he is helpful and answers questions in class if you pay attention and ask.
I truly dont recommend him. His lectures are super boring. He just reads through the slides and his tests are heavy. Dont recommend him at all.
Boring prof for sure but if you google you should be able to come across the same slides and testbanks used in this class. Just make notes and practice the questions and you should be fine. Not a hard class by any means his lectures are just boring.
he doesn't know how to teach at all!!!!!
DONT CHOOSE HIM!!!!! Lots of homework and sooooooo many questions in his exam. 40 MCQs and 6 free style writing questions in midterm exam for only 1 hour. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRO!!!!!
replies to your messages or email very late!
He was an okay prof. He is not easy going so don't think you can slack off but he is fair and understanding if you study for it he will help you but he is a serious prof and will make you work for your grade.
Time is not enough to finish the exam. I really do not recommend him. Avoid!
I had him for both 1000, and 1010, he is not someone I'd recommend. Firstly he does not post teach anything, just monotone reading the power-point out loud. Does not post the slides either. He is not clear on what's on the exams, and is not accessible outside of class. Final exam was insanely difficult, especially with it online.
The course was very heavy in assignments and lectures. Very demanding in time (which they warn you of). This prof was very monotone, lectures were hard to get through. Tests were fair but there exam was very hard (for me) and not enough time (only 1 hour).
This professor reads off the power point slides and is unable to teach the material, I stopped attending the class and only did the assignments and tests and got my mark. The tests are multiple choice and are based on the slides but the assignments are okay as well. I didn't put too much effort in as I hated it. Don't take this professor.
He doesnt really help with questions about the assignments. Lecture slides sometimes doesnt even relate to the exam since its basically based on textbook, MC questions + free style but only given 1 hour and final exam is worth 55% ridiculous. He doesnt care about students, just does what his job requires. Overall very poor.
His meaning of "multiple choice" for the exam is most of the questions are very long True and False (topics are not related). If you are not good at T/F questions be careful. // also he is very specific on the assignment format when submitting it. He scares you with all the deductions that can happen if you don't follow the instruction
This prof makes the final exam worth 55%, which has 40 true&false questions and 10 multiple choice questions. The questions are the longest I have ever saw in my whole life and many of them are very tricky. My eyes was burning during the test because I have to find the answers quickly on my notes. This is a bad course arrangement by him.
he doesn't specify content, just basically reads the slides. Doesn't care about students, his weighs for the test are a lot. The assignments I see no reason for them if you only weight them 5% and then the test is like 40-50%. Proves he only cares less about students. One of those profs that are like "heres the material good luck"
doesnt teach anything doesnt care about students basically only cares on giving information out dont learn anything important basically makes you learn by yourself avoid him
Literally I never understood what was going on in his lectures, they're long and boring. Its a really hard course and you actually need to understand the concepts in order to do the assignments and tests.
He's a decent professor.
He's alright, lectures can get boring but he'll answer any question you have on the topic
He was a decent professor. He would read off his slides the whole time and his lectures were super boring. His class is very test heavy-2assignments, midterm and a final. Other than that he was good in terms of helping you understand. You could stop him while he is teaching and ask to explain something and he wouldn't mind doing it with more detail
Easy assignments, clear explanations
The professor talks way too much he changes topics way too quick that the lecture gets you confused all over the place.
Professor Kashiyama's class has its challenges, but with dedication, the material can be mastered. Utilize resources like the free textbook and Unstuck study to prepare for the tricky exams. Attend lectures and stay engaged - it makes a big difference.
Avoid this professor please, when it comes to exams there is no assistance provided before hand like an midterm exam review, neither is aid allowed in the exams, just read all 70 slides for each subject and expecting us to do well in this course. very lazy behavior from this professor.
He's alright. I had him a couple of years ago for this class. He isn't the best professor and I wouldn't take him again, but if he is the only prof for a course I suggest just take him.
