PowerPoint's don't have any information on them, so it's hard to go back and study on your own. He goes off on too many tangents during class and gets stuck on certain topics during lecture, making it confusing and hard to follow along. Easy class, but unbearable teacher. Praying that y'all get a new professor for Biology 1134

Class is easy but he makes it so much more difficult than it needs to be. His lecture notes are horrible and not helpful at all when trying to study for the tests. The tests consist of mostly in-class examples (some talked about for less than 5 minutes) that are not in the notes. On top, the lectures are extremely boring and he goes off topic alot.

He will put questions on the test that he barely talked about and isn't on your slides. There always seems to be questions wrong on the tests/quizzes that have incorrect answers marked as correct. He goes off topic a lot and talks about things that don't have to do with the current subject, he makes it more difficult than it needs to be.

He was talking about his choice of drinks, like martinis, and what he did in high school. He talks about his friends and how they stop at each piece of roadkill they see and examine it. ???? He talks about how we should study. But, wanna know what he doesn't talk about BIOLOGY!!! he is so off-topic. I don't know if OU ran a background check on him.

I don't know where to even begin. This class is one of the hardest I have taken. He expects much out of you. The exams are really difficult and most options are "choose all that apply", making you just completely get the question wrong since you may have to guess. I don't recommend taking this class. Stay far away. This class will make you cry.

One of the hardest classes I have taken in my undergraduate years. Be prepared to guess on every exam. Also, be prepared to cry after every exam. I think only 15 out of 280 students will receive an A in his class. Everyone I talk to around me said they have a B close to a C after the third exam. We are all screwed, he is a really hard professor.

I will never recommend anyone to take this class. He makes me cry, the way the labs are so difficult, the exams, and the lab practicals.

Never take this class if you do not have too. You will not learn anything in the lecture, his slides are just black and white, and if you ask a question in class get ready for the most random thing you have ever heard. Also, his test always had typos and he writes the questions and they make no sense honestly. Good Luck

He has been rude on multiple instances during class and office hrs. He constantly messes up the answers on hw and test. The lab practicals and exams are so utterly impossible to study for that there is no point of studying, u will fail regardless. Also, Paul is married to his former student

The most awful bio professor at OU for your freshmen year. Gets off topic easily, constantly has typos on his exams, does not give you enough time to take the exams, and literally belittles students who ask him questions. Chooses to not only not answer your questions but rather answer it with another question. Lab practicals are hard you won't pass

His lectures are boring and meandering but you have to pay attention to the meandering because any small example can and will be on the tests. The lab is hard but saved by good instructors (shout out to Noah), but otherwise the best thing you can do to study and prepare yourself for the tests and exams is to just look over the lecture notes.

Worst structured class I have ever taken. He does not equip students with the tools to succeed. Exams are constructed based on lecture, but the lecture slides suck. You would have to take the best notes ever to maybe have the information you need when taking exams. The labs are boring and do not help you with lab practicles, which are impossible.

The tests are heavily based on what he says in the lecture so you have to go and take notes of exactly what he says because the questions are phrased exactly as what he says in class. Use the homework to study for the tests because he sometimes uses similar questions. Otherwise, every other question is a trick question in his tests(hes said this).

Do not, I repeat do not take this class with this professor at OU. Take it at a community college. BTW, he married his former student- yuck!

Dr.Klawinski is respectful and pleasant. Make sure you write down everything he says during lectures (DO NOT SKIP LECUTRES). His exams are specific about examples he sets during lectures not necessarily the general things he goes over. Nothing prepares you for the exams, I think with time the class will get better.

He is very helpful in his office hours but no matter how much you try to study, the exams are too hard. There has been mistakes on every single exams that he had to fix after I went to address it. All the resources you have is lecture slides with just images and graphs. He makes this class too hard for what the course material really is. ridiculous

I would rather eat my own foot than take a class with him again. The lectures are boring. He talks in circles about nothing. His tests are not anything like the lecture slides. He needs to change his teaching methods or stop teaching.

For biology students this is a required course, but I would never take a class with this professor again. His canvas page and lecture style is very disorganized and hard to follow. You have to go to office hours if you want to understand anything. The content is not particularly difficult, but the professor truly makes this class unenjoyable.

Professor Klawinski was unable to clearly articulate his lectures. His labs were not practical applications of the content we learned in lecture, and instead were there own mini lecture over ridiculously broad topics such as all the phylums and kingdoms of animals and plants or a mini statistics class with handwritten ANOVAs.

GENUINELY awful. Tests and grading criteria are SO unclear, grade is so hard to get up but extremely easy to bring down. Lab is like a completely separate class that doesn't go with his lectures (because he doesn't lecture he just yaps). Most confusing canvas set up ever. By far hardest class i've taken at OU for no reason whatsoever. Avoid!!!

Tests are 40+ questions with massive paragraphs and "select all that apply" over material that is not covered in lectures or slides. He said him and his friends examine road kill for fun, he also joked about animal experimentation which is kind of fitting for a guy who married a former student.

When preparing for the exams, I felt like I had to study for his teaching style rather than just study the content. The content itself isn't really that hard, he just makes it difficult with the way he teaches. Write down any seemingly unrelated story he tells because it will probably be on exams. Minimal to no extra credit. Take Alejandra for lab.

With 100% seriousness, this was genuinely the most unorganized, condescending, and overall worst professor I have seen. The material would be very interesting to learn about, but with him? NO. THE MOST UNORGANIZED CLASS/LAB EVER. Worked so hard all semester just for there to be spelling mistakes, miscommunication, etc.

This guy has no teaching/lecture skills. Makes concepts so unbelievably hard to understand and just ends up yapping about something seemingly irrelevant the whole time (p.s. It wasn't irrelevant apparently, there were 5 questions abt it :D) Plus it doesn't help that he's very patronizing and doesn't like to admit when he's wrong.

Paul was reported countless times this semester then complained that the people who did so are the ones without integrity rather than considering he might be the problem. Very creepy man who married his student. He's literally praying on our downfall and gave no curves or EC despite not a single person getting an A on the final.

Refers to himself as a "distinguished lecturer" when he is quite literally the opposite. Everybody hates this man and they have good reasons for it. His exams show that he is narcissistic and wants you to hang onto every word he says during lectures rather than actually learn the content.

Disorganized, disrespectful, and confusing. The way Klawinski teaches is antithetical to actually learning and growing as a student. You could miss a class and cover the book content that was supposed to be covered in class on your own, only to fail the exam because he spent an entire lecture talking about a niche example and not the content.

This class should be renamed Paul's favorite martinis and obscure examples 101. There is literally no way Paul can be any worse of a professor. "To study for the final exam, look at the daily schedule and think what I would think would be a good question.", says Paul. His exams are impossible to study for and I have endless Paul quotes.

Before I took this class I looked at this guy's terrible ratings and thought to myself, "It can't be THAT bad, I'm a pretty good student I think I'll manage."... -_- Because he's the only "professor" for this course I really didn't have another choice either. I definitely recommend staying away from this guy. Take the class online or smthn

This class was just me getting edged 24/7 to keep a B. I genuinely thought I would get my 1st C. When he had to teach lab for Alex (best TAs) absence, he made us run around the building to wake up. Funny but keep in mind it was a 6:30-9:20pm lab..we're gonna be tired and it's not PE. Without my funny lab partners and TA I think I would've lost it.

Paul is arrogant. I avoided interacting with him after a few encounters. He can be very disrespectful in the way he responds to emails. He was reported during the semester. He then came to class and told us that he knew students had complained and that we were the problem. Exams are difficult. He asks questions about small things he says in lecture

This professor was terrible. I went to office hours and he would spend 30 minutes discussing one question. I would avoid this class. He makes it impossible to do well on tests after the first one. He has no empathy, so the only EC he provided needed around 90% class participation. Record lectures, go to office hours, and memorize notes, to succeed.

Dr.Klawinski is the worst professor I have had so far at OU. He is very arrogant and belittles his students when they ask him questions. I went to a few office hours and he was always rude and would yell at students when they did not understand. Boring lectures, he just rambled on and on to the point where I stopped coming and just decided to teach the material to myself. There is not a ton of homework or quizzes (though there is the occasional one), but tests are tough. He seemed like a nice guy, just not a very good lecturer

Take this class anywhere else. Klawinski is the worst prof I've ever had. Doesn't care abt students and belittles us when we don't understand. Literally bragged about how 45% of his classes either failed or dropped the class. Quiz scores do not help grade at all, but if you miss one and get a zero, it'll drop your grade by like 3 points. He is genuinely mean and does not care about his students. All of these reviews pretty much sum up how terrible he is. Even if you go to lecture, take notes, and study for 3-4+ hours you will still end up failing his tests. Take this course somewhere else. I do not know how he is still teaching.

By far the most self fulfilling and rude professor I have ever come across for an OU class. His lectures are next to useless for studying test material. I went to every lecture and did every homework. Some people will tell you that the reason kids aren't passing is because they don't go to class but that is so far from the truth. 0/10.

It's mainly just this class is not concrete science it's very fluid science so it's hard to have test questions and therefore his test are ridiculously hard. He also has ZERO drops in the lab portion. TAs do not help him set up the lab practicals correctly. They are clueless. He also gives no extra credit “because he doesn't believe in it”

This professor was the toughest I've had, resulting in my first C. Asking questions felt discouraging since he made students feel ignorant. The slides were bland, the exams were extremely difficult, and attending lectures was necessary for examples on the test. Thankfully, the TA was excellent; without their help, I probably wouldn't have passed.

Exams make up almost the entirety of your grade and are defined by trick questions, lack of material being brought into the test, and content he may have mentioned once in a lecture (that wasn't in the lecture slides). My best tip is to re-read the exam questions and answers MULTIPLE times because you WILL miss something.

The class average on our exam was a 55% out of hundreds of students. He proceeds to blame the entire class instead of himself. Everybody failed.

Currently sitting in lecture and is basically saying we're dumb asf and that's it's our fault the whole class failed. Take the class with anyone besides him. Not joking.

Belittles students extremely. Puts things on exams that he says out loud in lecture. Blames low test grades on everything except his teaching/class structure. If you're a bio major you probably have to take him- which is incredibly unfortunate.

Class is unnecessarily difficult and convoluted. Teacher refuses to take any accountability when class average is bellow a %50. Spends 30 minutes berating students for not learning good enough instead of putting in effort to be a better teacher.(I'm not even in this class.)

When the class average on the first exam was 55% Paul spent thirty minutes of the lecture saying "It's not me, it's you". If you don't have to DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!

I would rather be trapped alone in a room with Ramsay Bolton than take this class again, if it's not mandatory for your degree, don't take it.

Unprofessional and hard headed

I was warned. I still took the class. I am a biology major I had to. I am about halfway through the semester right now and Klawinski is genuinely making me rethink my major because of his teaching and how he does assignments. everything people say is true. He may be a nice person outside of class, but oh my god I can't believe it. I have a B rn.

Making your exams based on niche examples you stated in lecture one time for like 20 seconds in between rambling and not having those examples anywhere in the textbook or lecture slides is such a diabolical move. What's even worse is making your exams closed note so students are expected to just remember those examples of the top of their head. ☹️

Extremely difficult professor. He makes a seemingly simple Intro to Bio course much harder than it needs to be with the obscure examples only mentioned in class. He is also quite abrasive during office hours and will make you feel stupid if you do not understand the concept you are asking help on. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE IF IT IS NOT REQUIRED!!!

He also will blame an entire lecture hall for doing poor on tests and when asked about if he thinks he has anything to do with the poor grades on tests he says no. I had a friend who took his class last semester..... I should've listened when she said not to. Unfortunately, he is the only 1134 professor, so be prepared to be belittled in the middle of the lecture and to hear about his wife, who was a former student of his, might I add. Doctor Klawinski is a very lecture heavy professor, and he bases all of his exams on what he talks about in lecture. Although this may seem okay, he makes his tests a lot more difficult than the lectures, so students have trouble passing his exams.

He will use the most niche example from a lecture on an exam for 10 of the 30 questions on it. Not very good at explaining, not super accessible out of class. If you have another choice, choose a different prof

One of the worst Bio teacher I'd ever had, his lecture is very boring and it so easy to lost track in his lecture, his test basically nonsense, best advice if you take him record his lecture it help. But over all never in my life receive a D in bio before.

If you're okay with a B you will probably be fine in this course. I know many people who lost their 4.0 over it. I think the general consensus is that you need to go to office hours to do well which sucks cause his condescending demeanor makes many people uncomfortable.

His tests are full of very obscure examples, which he said only in passing. He seemed to set up class specifically to be difficult for students. Office Hours seemed to be the only way to fully grasp the concepts. Unfortunately, this class is a requirement for biology majors, so hopefully, a new professor will become available for this class

Avoid this professor at all costs. This was the worst class experience I have had in college. The course was disorganized, overly focused on statistics instead of biology, and due dates were constantly moved with little notice. The environment was discouraging and stressful. If needed, take this course at another school to avoid this professor.

Save yourself and find some other way to take this class, this class genuinely made me start to hate biology. This man had the most niche questions on the tests that were mentioned in 1 lecture, and the week before finals we did an entire unit. Save yourself.

One of the worst professors I've had. He doesn't understand that he isn't reaching that many people academically, but he absolutely refuses to make changes. His tests are based on the dumbest of examples from his slides, things that are mentioned briefly. He'll insist attendance is not mandatory, but PLEASE go to his lectures if you want to pass.
