dude dr kores is so tight. He makes every class fun! plus he gives his lectures on a cd which helps alot.
Great person. OK teacher. If you study you will get a good grade. Labs are great, he lets you leave as soon as you finish.
Nice guy, good at relating to text. Exams get increasingly difficult. Lab is easy, can leave whenever you want.
Very nice and funny guy. He gets into biology alot thinking every body else is in it as much as he is which is fine not to diss on him or anything. But he is so funny and easy going that you'd feel guilty for missing his class.
i like him as a person but i feel his lecture and presentation of material is extremely un-stimulating and bland- he stands in one spot and basically reads you the book, but hes very nice and willing to help
he is a nice guy and all but his tests are not easy lets say it that way. he is extremly friendly and nice but his class is very boaring and i almost fell asleep in every class- just make sure you know your stuff befor coming to class... that way it would be an easy class. mainly hard tests
Dr. Kores is the sweetest man. He loves to teach, and is always willing to help. He grades on a curve, and if you do well on tests you don't have to take the final. Love him.
Dr. Kores is such a wonderful teacher. He is so sweet and is so cute when he gets excited about biology. He is always available for help and if you study you will get a good grade. I wish more teachers were like Dr. Kores!!!
kores is a great teacher. he gets all stoked about biology-hilarious. hes always willing to help and answer questions, but his tests are killer. study and u will be fine, but if u plan on skating thru the class try a diff teacher. dont skip lab- its on his tests
he's nice guy who loves bio and he knows his stuff too. but his tests are hard so buy the CD that he offers and pay attention in class.he is always willing to help you. the tests are close to the book, so you HAVE to read if you want to pass.
tests get harder every time. during lecture i didn't learn that much, but he is a good teacher during his office hours. study hard and go to his office for help if you don't get some material.
he is extremly nice in the begining but i should definately say that he has his favorites! his tests are not easy and they get harder the farther you go. if he falls back on material dont expect him to give up he WILL give you a 10 chapters test if he needs to! and his lectures are extremly boring!
Being a sweetheart, Mr. Korets is not such a good teacher: his lectures are boring and not helpful in understanding the material, which is hard as is. His tests are very hard and at times ambiguous. Again, personaly - he is very nice. As a teacher.... I don't know...
His classes are useless, he gives you all the notes on powerpoint which you can purchase for a dollar. All he does in lecture is read off these notes. VERY BORING. His tests are pretty tough. Its like he knows the material very well HIMSELF, but he doesn' know how to teach the so you understand it.
He's an amazing teacher (just be sure to pay attention and ask questions when you're confused). His tests are hard but if you read over his lecture notes, read the chapters, do the objectives and practice questions at the end of each chapter you should do alright (a lot of work? ya, but it's needed)
Very friendly with a really funny sense of humor. Considering the enormous amount of Chapters (23) to cover in such a short period of time, I think he did fairly well. You will have to put in hours of personal study time and use the Study Guides, especially the vocabulary words. Take the course seriously and he will be very helpful.
He not cool anymore. His test so crazy .He have 2 test A and B.
dont take calss with him really its better for u and ur gpa

He is interesting, has a great sense of humor, uses good illustrations, and gives fair grades. The tests are not difficult if you pay attention in class and keep track of the information.
The class isn't too hard if you just read the book and his notes. He just lectures from power point but he does sometimes get confused which can be annoying. My only problem is that he likes to interject his politics into class for no reason. It's also hard to take a biology teacher seriously who still believes in man made Global Warming.
Dr. Kores is an excellent teacher who genuinely wants his students to succeed. As for the previous comment, I can only assume that it is this person who is confused. Most probably one of "those people" who still believes the earth is flat!
This is a great teacher! There is a lot of material to learn for this class ... but the teacher is awesome with explaining it. If you pay attention to lectures, read, and go over the material you will do fine. Otherwise, it will be very hard if you never open the book. He lets you drop a test (no lab tests) and if you do not need to take the fi
BIOL M02A: This teacher is great. He loves the subject and makes it fun to learn. My interest going into the class was very low and I ended up coming out very interested in Biology. Too bad he doesn't teach M02B. This class requires a lot of hard work, but having a great professor helps you through tough times. Study hard and you'll do fine.
By far my favorite teacher at Moorpark. He sells an optional CD that has his powerpoint lectures for one dollar and it really helps. He's easily accessible and always willing to help. Weekly quizes in lab and a lab midterm and final are not hard if you go to the lab. Read the book!
Awful. He's a very nice and funny guy, and for the first few weeks I loved him. By the end of the class this semester, our class average was like a 67%.. We had 2 weeks to learn 200 pages for a test one time. The class is run like a 3rd or 4th year-level molecular cell biology class. I attended class, studied, and did the extra credit, D. :(
The class is easy to pass (hard to get an "A"). The tests will either make you or break you. They are multiple choice + short answer questions. Lectures are tolerable. He explains the material into simpler version. If you go to lab, the quizzes are easy. Remember everything for lab practicals.
Dr. Kores is funny, but will ignore you at times if he doesnt like you. :( The class is passable as long as you do the extra credit and attend all lectures and do your index card question, and attend all labs for lab quizzes. Tests are VERY hard. Use his study guide if you want to get a better grade. Still... the tests are VERY hard.
The class was not too bad!it was actually easier than the other bio classes. the lectures are long and kinda borin, but u HAVE to be there to get ur daily points! show up to lab and go over his notes a couple times and tests wont be too bad either! i NEVER opened the book, just the notes, and still got an A AND didnt even take the final!
nice guy, but his class is horrible.it was one of the most boring classes i have ever taken i just wanted to fall asleep, and somedays he did not even give a break. his tests are really hard, and he gives no study guide, you just have to study everything.even when i studied i didnt do well.
Horrible. Don't recommend this teacher whatsoever. His lectures were boring. His tests are terrible. I studied for hours and hours, reading lecture notes and the book, but still failed. He even made a comment once "rarely anybody passes my final"...then why do you make it so hard?! Every lab there was a quiz which had nothing to do with the lab.
Dr. Kores lectures of his CD and mirrors the sections in the book. Study his CD and refer to the book for more explanation. Show up for lectures for free points and his tests can be quite difficult (mutliple choice + short answers). Possible to get an A, like I did.
hes a good teacher. i really like him. he's funny and keeps the lectures interesting. theres no homework and you dont have to turn in anything for the labs. although there are quizzes on each lab and weekly online quizzes. he doesnt really explain the labs either. but hes still really good and answers questions
If you like a professor that utilizes 100% of his time in class with powerpoint presentations and limited explanation Dr. Kores is your huckleberry. Labs are not explained well either. Online quizzes are easy, in class quizzes are somewhat difficult, the midterm and final are both impossible. He is very approachable but his helpfulness is limited.
Dr. Kores could be one of the worst teachers I have ever had in my entire career as a student. His lectures are non intensive and purely factual (read: nothing fun or interesting), his class is much too difficult and monotonous for a intro to bio class, his tests are unpassable, and he isn't even that nice of a guy to be honest. Save yourself
Lecture tests are very clear, Lab tests are impossible. Things that aren't in the book or the lecture are on the lab tests. Thats the only down side. He is extremely knowledgeable and a great person to talk to in general. Use his office hours, I ended up getting an A once I got help. Very nice, doesn't make you feel stupid at all.
i hate this teacher. WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER TAKEN IN MY LIFE. He's old. dry, crakes stupid jokes and thinks he's a good teacher. He ruined the subject for me. Take another teacher.
do not take his class. his class is not an into to bio. it is very hard and boring.
He will not hand you an A. His quizzes are very easy, but his tests require studying. I actually found him to be quite entertaining; he's a wiry old man that was definitely a hippie back in the day. If you pay attention closely and talk with him, this class is not impossible. Once again, if you are looking for an easy A, this class is not for you.
he is my favorite teacher! i took his plant class after which is amazing. his bio class is hard but hard subject but is willing to help. he doesnt hand you the A, work for it but i enjoyed his class very very much.
had this professor for genetics. does not understand the subject at all. he posts answers to hw online but he cant even figure them out when you produce the answers to him in lab. rambles on about how you need to study harder and figure things out yourself. worst professor i have ever had. passionate about subject but imcompetent in teaching it.
okay to start biology isn't an easy subject, but this prof. makes it even harder. The lectures exams are okay as long as you due the weekly quizzes online, however the lab test is a different story, its not multiple choice so you get a 50 questions an suppose to remember to spell it correctly. Also when you have a question, he willanswer with alook
I enjoyed taking his class. He's a little out there but I found his PowerPoint presentations very helpful as well as his study guides. I found that his online quiz questions were often the test question so if you study those you should be OK. Does seem to have "favorites" but his test are multiple choice so it doesn't affect his grading.
Very difficult class! I love the subject so i got an A but only 4 people in my class did. Out of 40 students in the begining we ended up with 18 by the end. READ THE BOOK. Tests are very diffucult and require alot of thinking. Korres is one of the nicest teachers i hav ever had. a total sweetheart but does not know the material that well.
Mr. Kores is the best teacher that I've had. Keeps classes interesting and fun. Yea you have to know the information so DON'T take if you are looking for an easy A. Uses curve so even if you fail a test it'll be brought up to bearable by curve.
Somewhat difficult class, but definitely hard to get an A. Tests are taken in two parts, once individually and again with a group. He averages the two, although not 50/50, making it a lot easier on you. Lab tests are the same way, but they are brutal because you have no study guide and he usually isn't clear about what is going to be on the test.
Very difficult class. Received my first C in college. He has very high standards. He says you are expected to spend 5+ hours a week studying on your own time, and it's not an exaggeration. However, I did learn a lot about general sciences, such as microbiology, chemistry, anatomy, physics, ect. Take him if you've got lots of time on your hands.
Very very difficult subject. I recommend this class if you have a decent biology background, as he assumes you already know a lot. Very helpful and approachable.
hard class.
It's a intro to bio class but he goes much more in depth then that. Hard class. If you take the class start studying right away!!
First C I have gotten in all of my schooling. Excpects you to know what he is talking about. If you take this class I suggest you start studying right away. Put a good hour in it after each class the website http://www.khanacademy.org/#biology helped me a lot. also he has all the notes and study guides on his website print all those out!!
Taking Botany. Boring to say the least. Knows his stuff, but doesn't have an engaging academic environment. If there was no food id never show up. Class is all memorization. TOP 5 WORST class ive ever taken. zZz zZz
He made me highly dislike Biology and I'm a Biology major! I've always been interested in the sciences but he makes you feel like the complete opposite! He makes the class very boring and is NOT comprehensible! Even after hours and hours of studying, tests are outrageously difficult! DON'T RECOMMEND HIM AT ALL!
Great teacher! Very quirky and fun. Cares about his students who want to learn. He'll help you out and answer any of your questions. As long as you study the notes, you'll do well on the test. Favorite and most helpful and engaging teacher I have ever had at Moorpark College. :)
I took Dr. Kores for Genetics. He is one of the hardest professors i have ever had. He is unclear, unorganized and seems to pick favorites! His exams DO NOT correlate with his lectures. He rambles on and on in his lectures and often hurries the lecture filled with jokes and humor that have nothing to do with the lecture. AVOID!
He expects you to already have a pretty large knowledge of biology. He does not give study guides so you have NO idea what will be on his tests. Not an intro course at all!
4 an A/B:Dont rely on ur notes. Read the chap 4 the onl quizzes(or Google them) & REREAD them 4 the test. ANY section of the chap that talks abt real life APPLICATION, DISEASES or EXPERIMENTS 2 prove concepts, WILL b in the shrt ans. 4 Lab, read any handout he gives & the Background info of the lab.?'s come 4rm here. Take notes & know steps of lab.
He was really awesome! He engages the class in ways that he knows will help them remember the material. He will make sure you are never hungry leaving his class, and he works hard to make you enjoy learning. Take him for this class, it was very fun! I was sad to leave.
I didn't think I'd be very interested in Botany before I took this class, but he proved me wrong. The material was interesting and he always made sure to keep things entertaining. Tests are challenging, but fair. Incredibly kind and always brought in food for everyone. He is without a doubt the best Professor I've had at the college.
I've taken an AP course in Biology and received an A and a 5. So believe me when I tell you this teacher made the class and his tests unnecessarily difficult. He expects you to have prior knowledge and goes too in depth for a General Biology course. Never received such a bad grade: do not recommend
Absolute worst teacher I've ever had. He just rambles and goes off topic all class. Acknowledges it's a hard subject but doesn't try to help. He doesn't even fully understand it. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Would rather drive out to another CC. Not sure why MC keeps him.
The hardest class I've taken. Lectures are from the book's powerpoint, boring. He's confusing and goes on tangents that are unrelated. Weekly online quizzes (google is your friend!), weekly lab quizzes, and exams are super hard (half short answermultiple choice). Lecture exams are graded on a curve. Not an easy class at all!!
Professor Kores was the best professor I've had so far. He genuinely cares that you do well, but still holds you accountable and challenges you to be your best. This class is difficult and involves a lot of studying (READ THE TEXTBOOK!) but afterwards, you will have an excellent grasp on Biology.
He is the worst professor I have ever had. His lectures were not helpful in the slightest. He also made the class a lot harder than it needed to be. The exams were completely unfair and extremely difficult. I went in for help during office hours multiple times and he did not even make an effort to help.
Prof. Kores genuinely cares about his students, but he is a tough professor. Don't EVER ask for a re-grade unless you want him to re-grade the whole thing even harder. He does give powerpoints that you can study off of, so that was really nice. He's a little scattered when he teaches, so you definitely want to read the textbooks.
Dr. Kores is great. He's funny, but sometimes his analogies distract me and take away from the content of the lecture. Otherwise, his slides are a great summary of what's in the text book. You must read the book and the lab manual though, questions are deeper than what you do or learn. Gives online and lab quizzes every week except on test days.
Dr. Kores is a great professor with a deep understanding of biology. You will have to work hard for your grade in his class. READ YOUR TEXTBOOK (cannot stress this enough), study the power points/online quizzes, and ask questions. Getting an A in this class is by no means impossible. Your grade overall will accurately reflect your effort
He's a great guy and an interesting professor, BUT this class was extremely difficult. His exams are not based on memorized material, but are extremely applied. He curves each exam generously, but be prepared to stay late in order to finish each exam and to study more than you ever have before. He does get confused easily, but he has a good heart.
I loved Professor Kores!! His botany class was very interesting and his lectures were informative. I would highly recommend him, and his tests are very generously curved.
Kores lectures every class, and there are five exams. He grades on a curve which is really nice because I received C's on almost all of my tests and still received a B for my final grade. I should've studied more, but most of my classmates and I agreed that he made the general bio class more difficult than it needed to be. Take only if you have to
if you read the textbook and are determined to do well in the class, you shall. Kores knows what he is talking about during lectures and as long as you study, you will know too. It is lots of memorization and conceptual work but the tests are very fair considering the amount of information in the text. He tries to relate to the students, fun class!
Not a nice end to the Bio series I've taken at Moorpark. BIO 2A with Harrigan was awesome, 2B with Jana was a breeze, but this class was a rough ending. I understand that you can only make M02C so easy, but the lectures were so boring, PP slides got convoluted very quickly, and you left lab barely knowing the purpose of the experiment. READTHEBOOK.
He seems like he knows what he's talking about but if biology does not come as second nature to you I would not recommend taking him because he talks like we should already know what he is talking about without really explaining it well. Also he uses many analogies that he thinks are helpful but sometimes confuse you even more.
One of the most genuine professors I have ever had. He is still looking to learn more and is passionate about sharing what he knows. You have to study but he provides all the tools to help you succeed. It helps that hes hilarious and an amazing cook!
His class is hard, but not impossible. Make sure that you finish all of the online quizzes, and study them before each exam. Pay attention in class and read the book; re-write your notes if you have time, and use them as a study guide for each exam. Stay on top of things during lab, and you should be fine on the lab practical. Gives EC. Great prof.
Hardest class and professor I've ever come across. Nothing but intense long lectures the whole class, and difficult tests with no study guide or help. He makes this class very unnecessarily hard. Do NOT take unless you already have an extensive knowledge of bio. More than half the class was gone by the end of the semester.
hes super cool and what not but goshhhhh are his lectures HEAVY .
Im not very mean and like to see the good in educators. Hes fast at lecturing and at explaining labs. I felt uncomfortable asking him questions. Ive asked him maybe 2-3 Q so far (its April) and have received a mean response. Like condescending and rude. Hes also BLOWN UP on some students. Needs to control his attitude. kind of a funny guy.
Dr. Kores was the most unnecessarily difficult and rude professor I have ever taken. Our class averages for our exams ranged from 58% to 63%, and 2/3 of the class dropped only halfway through the semester. He doesn't take any blame for almost every student borderline failing, and instead he blows up on a student that calls him out. No hw, no help..
This class was probably harder than it would be at a UC. He is a really nice guy and is available outside of class... But wow the material was difficult. Each test covered 7 chapters and could be from any material within them. If you work hard you'll do ok. But if you're looking for an easy A, take another class. Good luck
Its hard to pay attention when he goes off on tangents, he also has no clear point when he does. Many online quizzes, offers little extra credit. We also went online halfway through, he did not handle that very well probably because of his age. He also doesnt give out study guides or review for tests. I could go on. Very disappointed...
Honestly not a good teacher. I really wish I took more away from this class because the material is important, but his lectures were pretty bad- regardless I showed up to every one. Dosn't use canvas which was very off-putting. Leaves students on edge with his grading since it's not updated online often. Nice/smart guy but not too good a teacher.
He is an absolute nightmare and insults you if you try to ask him for help. Horrendous and unforgiving lecturer and he looks down on you. His class did not need to be this hard. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH ANYONE ELSE.
Worst professor ever. Do not take him. He made me hate biology. Doesn't teach, doesn't help and has an attitude to top it all off.
