Great guy! Take his class! Will teach what's on test.
He is very nice to students. He reallly cares about them. Chemistry is a hard subject so you have to study alot but Dr Labine is very helpful.
Great teacher! very very nice! Will explain and answer the same question 60 times. open book tests but you have to come to class to get an A. TAKE HIS CLASS!!
Awesome Prof. for ChmII. You can use the notes and he is very helpful with the course. Go to the classes and you will be sure to get an "A". If you think his class is hard then change majors.
Very good professor. What's on the notes are on the test. If you don't understand he will help you so use all the help you can get. If you study you will get an A if not between an A to a C. But chemistry is still not an easy subject. I definately recomend him!
Prof. Labine is probably the sweetest teacher EVER. He's very understanding and always willing to help. He provides his students with EVERYTHING they need. Just show up for the labs and you're good for the day. Lab quizzes are difficult but he's lenient and curves a lot. I recommend him! He's a wonderful professor. =)
very easy. you will get A without working hard
One of the nicest teachers. But what use is nice if the teaching is basically useless?I easily understand the material when I go to my tutor...After being completely confused in class.I can't put my finger on exactly why he can't teach chm1025 but he can't.Maybe he's too smart for it.Maybe he forgot what it's likebeing a student.Don'tknow. Dont take
Everything the previous posters said is true. The only thing I'll add is that Prof. Labine pretty much gives you the tests in the notes and green sheets he hands out. I don't take too much from the actual lectures but between the material handed out, the SI sessions and the book I've been doing well. Take him. I've heard Emma Chow is good too.
he si very nice and sweet. very helpful. all his tets are out of the lectures note and the green sheet. study those u should get an A. highly recommand him. he gives partial credits and the final is optional.
God bless this professor!!!!! Take him you and you won't be sorry!!!
BEST CHM teacher yet! He is very understandng and willing to help. The test come straight from his note (which he gives you), and u can use green sheets (Very helpful) .. he's not here to make Chem difficult, he's here to hep you understand, and that is what makes him Awesome!
Proff. Labine is great! He is understanding and passionate about his work, most helpful! He will stay after class and explain if u are confussed. He bases his test only on what he goes over, and if you put effort, u should have a good grade. Highly recomended!!!
Labine is the best...seriously. This is a difficult class, but with labine, he makes it understandable. He's a very smart man!4 test through out the course, and the last one is optional.deffinately couldn't have done it w/o him!
If you need to learn the material, I wouldnt take him. He is confussing and if you have never taken CHM before you will be totally lost. But he is easy beacause he gives you papers with all the formulas and important information which you can use on the test. The only way I did so well was beacuse I went to tutoring before every class. He was Very
He's very good at distilling what is important and what is not. He's very generous and if you put the time in the class the class gets easier even when the material doesn't.
Labine is a good guy, but not the best teacher. He doesn?t know how to get the information across to the student very well. The subject is tough, but Labine gives reasonable tests. The practice problems in the notes he gives you are similar to the ones on his test. He allows students to use ?green sheets,? that he prepared, on the test. The green s
he is extremely helpful.. he is a little confusing but pretty much he gives the test in the green sheet... a lot of bonus points ..i recommend him h is very good
Professor Labine is great! Extremely helpful. He will do everything he can to make sure you understand the material. All you have to do is ask, and he is there to help. His tests are not hard at all, not tricky. He teaches everything that is on his tests, so just pay attention to his lectures and you will get A's.
he is a great guy very nice and carring. But he will lose his train of thought easily when teaching; he not very clear when he teaches. But if you self teach your self out of class you will get a good grade for his exams are similar to the practice tests.
professor labine is GREAT! i have taken chem before, and i ended passing with A's for the lab and lecture. just study his sample exams and u will b fine!!
He gives you exams based exactly on what he teaches in class. Along with that he also give you green sheets to use during exams(basically approved cheat sheats). He may get a little confusing at times as other posters have written, but if you ask him to clariy he will explain it until everyone in the class gets it.I would highly recommend him!
Love Mr. Labine....He really means well and knows a lot about chemistry but he does have a hard time explaining the concepts. He makes it easy for you to get an A but you will need to get some help outside of class to fully understand the topics.
This profeesor is crazy easy he's great! His test are sooo easy they come right from his sample test. He gives you 10 extra credit points on test just for attendance. He's very nice if you have any qustions don't hesitate he will take time out to make sure he helps you. TAKE HIM GURANTE A+
I Love Dr. Labine!!!!!!!!!! Take him, take him, take him. Best teacher I have had at PBCC in two years.
Thought he was a bit ridiculous. He gave the hardest quizzes known to man for lab. His tests looked nothing like the study guide, they were all worded to confuse you. Then he teaches you how to do all the problems for the study guide not the test. He did teach the math well.
gr8 prof, goes over evrythng 4 test, study guide very similar to test, took 4 lab also and aced both, hav taken other prof for chm at PBS & he is 1000x better then others at PBS, 1 in a millon
He was the best teacher. Very nice, very helpful. He gave tests from class, and you were allowed to use cheat sheets. Take Him. You can get an easy A or B.
The cls is super easy 2study4,Dr. L gives out huge pkgs of "green sheets" which are cheat sheets 4every exam ur allowed to use.He also gives sample tests 4each test which r almost same as real test.I didnt hv the book&I got an A.His teaching is hard to understand,u will not learn much bc everything is on cheat sheet,bt u cn get an A if u go 2 slc.
Too easy. If you cant pass his chemistry class there really isnt any hope for you. You may have to teach yourself when it comes to certain things, but his tests make it all worth it.MAKE SURE YOU TEACH YOURSELF!!DONT BE LAZY OR YOU WILL PAY THE CONSEQUENCES IN CHM1046.
His classes are filled within 15mins of registration so best of luck getting him. Unless you're one of those honors pricks, which I happen to be! If you got a pulse you can pass his class. Highly recommended , but I doubt you'll get a seat in his course.
Dr. Labine is a great prof! the only prob is that he's a little too easy. i felt like i didnt learn enough to prepare me for further chem classes. but if you're not a chem major and you just need the class, take him!
Wonderful professor! He wants students to do well! He is Extremely fair and gives a makeup test at the end to give you a shot at a good grade if you did not do well on a particular test! He gives ample opportunity to do well. If you take good notes and pay attention, you will do well. I never had Chem before and got an A. Pay Attention!
Definitely the best chemistry teacher I have ever had. I took CHM 1045 in summer A and got an F, and I have had B's on all of my tests with Professor Labine. He is very willing to help you understand. He goes over sample exams RIGHT before each exam so it is fresh in your head how to do each problem. DEF TAKE HIM
Professor Labine is totally easy. If you need Chem 1 just to pass the class then take him !!! He gives you greensheets which have all the formulas and tables on them. The sample exams are very similar to the actual test ! he teaches at a fast pace and his notes arent that helpful, but you deff dont need the textbook. Need to study on your own. Very
class is wasted sometimes over things which might not benefit. he is nice and very caring. u have to study though. he does his best to help the students. he is the best and the nicest.
1. DO NOT BUY THE TEXT-It is not used! 2. YOU WILL LEARN NOTHING TO PREPARE YOU FOR CHEM 2. 3. You will get an A easily if you study off his sample exam. You DO need to study it; many students do get Cs bc they just memorize it. 4. Even if u do have bad test grades, there are attendance points and an online homework option to boost your grade.
This man should NOT be teaching Chemistry. While he is a science maven, he has absolutely zero ability to relay information. he jumps from subject to subject and you waste 12 weeks learning nothing. He gives out the tests in advance so that you can memorize and cram. If you need any more chemistry after this class, you will not be able to pass.
Show up to class, pay attention, and get an A. It is that simple, so if you fail his course it is all on you.
Overall, he does want his students to succeed. If you attend class and study the practice tests you'll do fine.
Best Chemistry Professor. Helpful and loves what he does. Very intelligent and also caring. Will make you earn your grade. I got an "A",
He tries really hard, but he is not clear when explaining concepts. I learned nothing. He wants to help every student to get the highest grade he/she can get. If you do not have to take a higher level of chemistry than 1045 do not take him.
Team Labine! I took him for lab & lecture. I gota say his lab is super easy, i learned, & had fun. On the other side if you take his lecture i think is best to take him twice a week not once a week. Sometimes was hard to get it, but he would help u as much as he can. Ps. If u take him, be respectful!!
HIS CLASS IS VERY CONFUSING.IF ANYONE WANNA LEARN SOMETHING TRY OTHER PROFESSORS BUT NOT HIM.IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD IN CHEM YOU WILL GET LOST EASILY AND HE GOES THROUGH CHAPTERS FAST.
Enjoyed his classes. HE is best professor for chemistry. The best instructors at PBSC. He is a must man! I got an A+
Prof is book smart which kinda makes class tiring. But he is very lenient and helpful. Practice tests are just like the tests. Lectures are long but prof shows u what's on the exams.
He is a good guy who tries his best to help out the students understand the material. Study the sample exam and you should do just fine in this class.
If you are looking for an easy A this is your guy, gives notes on exams, and shows you a sample exam which is very similar to the actual exam. the only thing is that you must know how to read and understand the notes he gives for the exam to understand em, math is a huge part of it, mainly algebra . he has an SI who is extremely helpful
Took him for 1025 and my 1045L. Labine makes chemistry very easy. He puts it on a level where even an infant can understand chemistry. Definitely recommend taking him for at least one Chemistry class.
Go to lab and participate in group activitys, you will learn as a team and get an A in the process. I would recommend him to anyone with a cramped scheduhle. ( he is very nice)
So here is the deal he is a Doctor he is knowledgeable beyond comparison. He wants everyone to do well he provides an SI so we can learn the material better. Its an easy A but if you need to take CHM1045 and 1046 learn his Green Sheets because its the most important information you will need to retain for them
Useless class! Labine is completly useless as a professor. He does not explain things well and if it was not for SI i would not have a clue as to what is going on in the class. Even though I consider this as an easy class it is doing nothing to prepare me for CM1045.
He is not clear what to be done in the lab. Will not recommend him if you are going to medical field . If you want to learn and take the standardized test pick someone else
I don't know how this man remains a teacher. His notes are highly unorganized and mostly consist of examples with just the equations; not explaining why or how or any definitions. It is very confusing and very hard to follow along with him. Not to mention he does not go by the book so the sections and chapters are all out of order.
not to hard to get an A but you will have no idea what your doing in chemistry. if you look around the room around the 3rd day of class you'll see more blank stares then carters got liver pills.
Show up. You work with your lab partners all semester so you're never alone. You are always given an example of a completed lab so you have something to guide you. Professor is more than willing to help at any time. One test all semester, the midterm, which you are given a copy of weeks in advance. No reason to get less than an A in this class.
One of the best teacher i ever had!
Great professor. Very kind and attentive. He will help students as much as he possibly can. Just come in follow directions, complete the lab, and leave (most of the time, early )
Professor Labine was great! He did not mind repeating things over and over again until everyone understood it. He loves Chemistry. I had him for both lab and class and he was a great help for tests. He went out of his way to help others. His tests are easy because he gives a review with the same exact context just different numbers. Take him :)
If you don't miss a lab, you may not have to take the final. He was very nice and always willing to help, even if he had to repeat things over and over. He can be a bit confusing at times but does what he can to help. Has a strong background in inorganic chem. Easy A. Midterm is just like practice exam he sends out.
TAKE HIM!! I really enjoyed his lab. His class is pretty easy. Come to class and be on time. His labs aren't that long. There's 10 quizzes on 10 labs and you have the option to turn in 100 abstracts (very tedious) off a website at the end or take the final exam. He's very helpful. Be Sure To Bring Your Lab Notebook and Manual! He takes points off!
GREAT PROFESSOR ! HIS LABS ARE SUPER EASY AND FUN. HIS TESTS ARE JUST LIKE THE REVIEW HE SENDS YOU. IF YOU GET AN A IN THE CLASS YOU WONT HAVE TO TAKE THE FINAL ! SUPER NICE AND WILL EXPLAIN THINGS TO YOU IF YOU DONT UNDERSTAND.
Really sweet old man. As long as you show up you'll get an easy A. He doesn't really explain things that well but if you ask him to show you, he will. Plus you can ask someone else what's happening, my whole class basically worked together. You won't really learn chemistry but it's a fun time. He sends you all the quizzes with answers beforehand.
If you struggle on chemistry you should definitely Take him class is not easy but he will do everything possible to help you glad i took him for this class
Take him!!
He's super great, and the labs are fun, even if you don't like chemistry. The quizzes are fairly easy (there's only 3), and as long as you show up and do the work, you'll get an A for sure. Definitely made me laugh throughout the class, and explained things my chemistry professor didn't. I wish he taught CHM1045!
Take him for lab. Go every day, do the labs, write the lab report, and he gives you a study guide for each quiz and the final. If you can do the study guides, you will Ace the exams. Easy A if you go everyday, put in the work, and study the materials he gives you. He will help you if you get confused on the lab and is really a nice professor.
Theres going to be an easypeasy project that you should start since the day he gives it to you and you'l pass. its literally copy and paste. BEWARE try your BEST to not miss a class because if not you'l have to make a 160 page thingy just like on the project to get the point back. Btw the project is only 100 pages of a few words. Gives test example
He is a very sweet gentle elderly man, and he may seem kinda hard at first in the first day. Yet he is a complete sweetheart, and he does care about his studants a lot. He is a sure A, and please come every day or if not you will have to do a 160 project including the 100 project you already have. Very nice sweet elderly man, well respected !
He is awesome!! Easy A. Show up to class AND PARTICIPATE, you will get an A. Three quizzes (he gives you exact copies, switches up numbers) and a 100 page paper.. ITS NOT WHAT YOU THINK!! He gives you a topic and you just copy and paste 100 articles.
His lab is super easy just make sure you show up and dress properly. There is one project but it is mostly just copying abstracts. He emails the quizes before the semester starts and they are almost the exact same. Final is not mandatory. Definitely take him
Best lab teacher, just show up and you'll pass! Helps his students out a lot and easy to ask questions. If you go to all your labs you get to skip the final!
He is an amazing professor and person in general. Its not impossible to fail his class but he definitely gives you all the tools and information to pass each test. You will not need to text book until later in the semester, and he gives a make up exam if you dont do well the first time. I took him for both lab and lecture
He was a super easy professor. You dont have to take the final if you have perfect attendance (but you could if you wanted) . He gave study guides that were exactly like the tests and if you study them itd be cake. When you missed a lab you would have to do a tedious EASY paper. Typically he teaches those who come 30min earlier better.
LOVE HIM! He is so sweet and adorable. Easiest lab EVER! I had such a great time and cannot wait to take him for chem 2! He emails you his quizzes at the beginning of the semester and only changes the numbers. Everyone got an A in the class, and if you get an A you don't have to take the final! Just show up, work with a partner! BEST PROFESSOR!!!!
Cutest old man you will ever meet. He really cares for his students although you may need to seek additional explanations on some things. Easy A.
best professor ever take him you will not regret it! easy A just show up to class.
A great professor, I took the chem lab with him, study guides are on D2l make sure to study them as they will be helpful to pass the tests theres a 3 of them but theres no obligation to take the last if your attendance is perfect and have perfect score on your 2 tests.
If you are here is because there is an opening and you are checking him out to see if he has high rating. Take him because you want an easy A. Cause someone else might take your spot. But by no means take him if you want to learn. You REALLY HAVE TO TRY TO FAIL and even then you would get a B.
Take him and you will pass. Best and sweetest professor you will ever have.
Very sweet professor. Easy class to pass with an A. Lectures are long but that was fine. Exams are literally just like his sample exams. The only thing is when you ask a question, he doesnt really answer it. He goes on a long winded example that complicates something that ends up being simple.. I think he struggles to dumb things down so to say
Professor Labine know's what he's doing 100%. He doesn't make lab hard at all either, take him!! If you show up too all the labs/tests you don't have to take the final. The tests are just like the practice ones he hands out.
Older professor but he sure knows what he's talking about. Cares about his students and their goals, always asking how are the lectures. Study guides for quizzes and mid and final is the same but the numbers change. He gives the answers to the lab book per class. Just show up and be on-time. Online transition was easy, just log-on.
This class is a easy A. But you wont learn anything and ull be totally lost.
Good person, good professor. Not much material actually "taught" due to COVID and it's a lab, but he knows his stuff. He is an entertaining professor and gives chill vibes, would take for lecture/lab again if I could.
If you are good at math you will pass easily. If you struggle, like me, then it will be a bit tougher. He provides handouts & study guides & the tests are just like them but altered. His explanations can be confusing at times, he can get sidetracked too. He enjoys teaching & wants you to do well. Attend class for extra credit. I did not use text.
I would definitely recommend taking him, You can get an A in this class but you have to work for it. One of the best chemistry professors at PBSC.
Don’t hesitate and take Professor Labine for chemistry. His class was extremely easy and he was such a caring professor. He truly wants all of his students to pass and he is always available if anyone has a concern. Also all of the test and exam are open book. Don’t hesitate and take his class you won’t regret it !
Professor Labine is a great professor, His class is easy going and fun. During the labs he tells you everything you need to know about what you are doing. He also gives you a chance to make up work if you miss a class. Overall a really caring professor. 10/10 would take him again!!
The class was easy, you show up to the lab, participate in it, and then get graded. He is a sweet old man who likes teaching. The classes are not long, it depends on the labs, but no more than 2 hours max and that was rarely. I took him for Summer A, and missing one class meant a letter grade drop, so attendance and participation in lab. 10/10!!!!
I recommend 100% one of the easier lab classes I've taken. You do the lab, he signs the lab manual. If you miss a class he gives a makeup assignment to make up for missed classes. He typically walks you through each lab. The only note I have is hard to hear at times, but I still would take him again. I'm taking him again for CHM1046L.
Proboaly the easeist version of chemistry I have ever taken. I didn't learn a lot about what chemistry is and why I did the things to get the answers, but do the practice exam a little each day and you'll be just fine. I took it in six weeks and got an A, he makes it very easy to pass.
Great professor, I'm going to be taking him for Gen Chem 2 lab! Minimal work just a pre and post-lab due once a week!
the goat of labs just dont miss class and you pass with an A, take this man
The class was pretty easy with a copycat test guide. I think he could do better with teaching, because it does get a bit confusing, but the "homework" gives good steps and outside resources do help.
He outlines the entire semester. Print all of the homework/test guides & you will do fine. If you struggle, bring the packet to the tutoring lab and they will help. Overall, a FAIR grader even if you struggle with chem. He gives you chances at making up grades as well so if you fail, it is your own fault. As most professors wont be this lenient.
im writing this while still apart off the class as of right now were having the last exam for the class and after that exam he said we wont have to show up to class unless we did bad on an exam, this class by far is easy, the lectures are simply practice questions that are going to be on the exam but with little tweeks to the number
Very sweet professor, really wants you to do well. Attendance isn't mandatory but gives you extra credit if you show up. Only 3 exams and will allow you to makeup any or all 3 exams with different questions if you want to improve your grade. He goes over what will be on the test and provides homework/practice questions to do on your own.
This class couldn't be easier. He gives a clear study guide for every exam. If you know the study guide, you will get an A. Only 3 exams, 40 Q's each, but there is a makeup exam if you don't do well the first time. I will say he doesn't always explain everything super clearly, but I used YouTube to fill in any gaps in the info from class.
I took his class as my first ever chem class and I loved him we always got out early. We also worked together if one group finished, we all left. If there was a problem with grades, ask him in class. Remember he is old so be patient with him. He also very silly. I love him! Also had two test study guide was literally exact same number too.
He is literally the sweetest old man ever. Very, very caring. He reminds me of my grandpa lol. His labs are very straightforward and he gives exra credit
Professor Labine is a great guy; older, tells a lot of the same stories over and over again but he means well. You literally spend class going over the sample tests... Study those practice tests, and there's no way you won't get an A. Just started doing an online homework because he was forced to, but far fewer questions than there could be.
