This man made the horrible course unbearable, only ten passing students last time and no calculators at all. His explanations were rumblings and complicated. Taught with advanced material, easy to get lost in lecture. Only exams equal overall grade.

Absolute worst teacher I've ever come across in my life. I even complained about him to the dean. He has no desire to see any of you pass. The first test was 50% of the hardest word problems just to weed out people. Extremely bitter and unprofessional. Trust me, drop it if you care about your GPA.

If you do not know Math, then DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. He expects you to know everything and does not explain things clearly. Out of 35 students, only 8 remained in the class at the end of the semester...dont think everyone passed either. If you know math very well then take him, very easy and quick, BUT only if you understand math thoroughly!

I love math and was very disappointed with this class. He lacks the ability to teach math. When the class size goes from full to less than 10 at the end of the semester, it's not because of faulty placement test. That's an excuse he will use, when the real truth is that he has no social skills. I think it's a damn shame that he's allowed to teach.

This instructor seems more to be showing off his own math skills as apposed to teaching it to others. I disliked his teaching skills very much.

This guy sucks. He doesn't know how to teach. Very hard to understand when he teaches. I think he makes it harder that it is with how he teaches. Also kicks you out if 5 mins late. Not a good teacher over all.

Took him for 116. All he does is show off his math skills. Whats in the text, on the test and what he teachers are all different. Not recommented

Worst teacher ever! Take Sandy Belew!! He knows math VERY well, but he was not meant to be a teacher. He is grumpy and favors the people who already know what he's teaching and leave you out if your lost! He is not clear at all! Save yourself a W and DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!

HE is really bad at explaining things.skips a whole bunch. asigns HW but you dont turn them in.the test are okay but the thing is he doesnt type the questions out they are all hand written.It seems like he doesnt like technology because he complains about calculators doing all the work.He looks extremely like kip from napolean dynamite. The guy hits himself and says psychotic things like "will somebody murder me ?" when he gets a problem wrong. Maybe he gets the problem wrong because he moves at the speed of light. He does not know how to teach. I know many of the positive comments say that people who have a hard time with him are those who expect an easy ride. This is not true. He simply does not know how to teach. The point of teaching a class is so that the students can learn NEW material. Seriously don't take him!!!!

He expects that everyone knows the material before taking the class. The whole point of taking a class is to learn, not review. Also, I couldn't understand a word he said. Talked WAY too fast and faced the board. I immediately dropped after day 1 for fear of my GPA.

I personally have trouble with math, and I get overwhelmed by it. So I need a teacher who explains the material well and actually cares about their students. This guy is the complete opposite. Sloppy hand-writing and doesn't write down all the steps in the process. He left out so much information during the REVIEW on the first day that I dropped.

Paul Lannen is the worst professor . You have to teach your self the material. He goes to fast and not many pass his class. Towards the end of the semester people just stop coming because he is that bad of a professor. I wish he could of cared more for his students more and help them instead of putting everyone down.

Avoid at all costs. I have never received below a B before and I failed hard. Doesn't explain concepts just blazes through them, ask him a question about something and he'll ridicule you. I have no idea how he is still a professor. 3 tests and 1 comprehensive final. Don't take him unless you are very fluent in mathematics.

All I have to say is we had 45 students in the class. And ended the class with only three to four students. Find a better professor that actually cares about his students and actually go over math. HE skips steps and goes way to fast.

Find a better professor. No calculators or phones are allowed. Five test in total. Doesn't collect the homework. Doesn't know how to teach. Not many people pass the class. People slowly stop coming. He is also doesn't let you make up test you missed the test you automatically get a 0. And he is also not understanding at all.

TERRIBLE! I was had to take him 96 class at 7 AM. Its basic algebra which I got an A+ in HS. He gives 70+ hw problems a night and doesn't take into consideration the fact that you may be taking on an 18+ unit load. Hes rude and goes to fast for anyone to understand. I love math but had to drop his class because of how horrible he was to students.

DO NOT take one of his classes, just trust me on this. He assigns tons of homework every night, but it isn't worth anything, but you have to do it to understand the material. He's terribly rude as well. His teaching is poor and his handwriting is unclear. no calculators or formulas on test. 5 tests and that's it, not even a curve.

50+ hw problems a night, just for practice. His tests are reasonable but you better be good at math or teach yourself because he is unclear and is not the least bit helpful. All class consists of is him doing practice problem after problem. No explanations or care if you understand. Also, don't be late or he will just tell you to leave.

Hands down worst professor I've ever had. Flies through all material as if you've mastered it. Don't you dare ask any questions. Will tell you to simply shut up and pay attention. For algebra, pre-calc, or Calc 1 he might be ok, but for Calc 2 (Math 122) he's awful. You'll work on one test problem for 2 pages and if you make a single algebra error you get no credit. Has no interest in your learning, frequently talks about how he doesn't want to teach. The negative reviews aren't an exaggeration, look elsewhere for learning.

I thought the bad reviews were from lazy students who wouldn't do homework, attend class, and really invest effort. Nope, this guy is on another level. He's very apathetic, ridicules any comprehension difficulties, and does the bare minimum to be called a professor. My class is quickly shrinking, he makes learning very negative, don't enroll.

I passed math 96,116, and 121 with A because I studied really hard for them. No matter how hard I study for this course, I still failed his tests. He only looks at your answers on the tests, don't bother to show your work because he wouldn't care. DO NOT TAKE HIM, he is far far away from being motivational or supportive.

I'm a hard working student of average intelligence. Math is tough sometimes and it takes work, but Lannen will destroy you. He doesn't want to teach, no matter how hard I study every day, I am barely getting a high D right now. Working this hard to fail a class doesn't make sense, especially with an apathetic instructor, so I'm withdrawing.

Very strict exam grading policies, instruction is fast paced, not for the faint of heart. If you are quick with numbers and never make any errors he's your guy. Most mortal beings will not do well in this course.

Math 122 is the highest level course that Professor Lannen teaches. He grades very harshly, fosters an atmosphere of intimidation, and is generally a poor teacher. Perhaps for algebra or precalc he's alright, but not at this level, it's almost comical how little effort he puts into instruction.

I had a terrible math teacher for Math 121 but with hard work and lots of tutoring, I did well. I thought there was no way my teacher for Calc 2 could be worse, I was wrong. He may be the worst math teacher at Mesa College.

This class was utterly awful. The lectures moved too quick & allowed little to no time to master the concepts. The professor was very sarcastic and had the tendency of ridiculing students which did not allow students to feel comfortable enough to ask questions. He was not at all lenient with grading. Those who struggle with math.. avoid this class.

STOP. Do not take this class. No teaching or explanation is done and you're left More confused at the end than at the begnining. You won't have your questions answered when you ask either. He expects more than can be and being able to do problems from the book are a walk in the park and not helpful for the test. Hrs out of class will be needed.

If you are not good in math , do NOT take his class! He doesn't teach well, goes very quick in his lectures and tests are very hard. I had to withdraw because he literally didn't care for his students. At the beginning of the semester we were like 30 in the class, at last there were like 8.

Hes tough and not someone you want to take if math is not your speciality. HW is basically ALL practice problems in the textbook. If you can do the HW (and you should!) then the study guides will be easy. Study guides are useful for exams but only if you can ace the HW! He grades on EXAMS ONLY. No points for anything else. Put your time into HW!

I received a B in this class, yet be warned. This was the absolute worst class I have ever taken. He grades ONLY on answers, unheard of for a math course! (Especially calculus). Lazy way of grading. Rants frequently and wastes time by harassing every student who walks in late. Assigns every problem in the book for hw and grade is based on 3 exams.

He understands the material he's teaching and will answer any of your questions but he expects a lot from you. Only take his class if you have experience with fast paced classes and teaching yourself class material. His grading is based on 4 exams and he drops 1. Also, make sure to be there on time.

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! He is honestly a very smart guy but he does not know how to teach. Half our class dropped and a some of us are failing. I'm putting in double the amount or more of work I do and barely passing. Grades are based on 4 tests, one dropped and he only looks at your final answer for the test, unheard of in math!

Just dont take this professor. You will regret it bad. He has an awful soul and not worth taking him.
