Good guy, bad jokes.
Tests and quizzes are very fair, asks you to memorize less things than other bch100 prof, but since he's a new prof, he makes alot of mistakes and doesn't project much confidence in his knowledge of the material. I'm sure after a few years, he'll be a great teacher.

Thought he was a great professor. His tests really reflect what he goes over in lecture. He adds funny, kind of lame, jokes thoughtout class that keep you attentive. I enjoyed his class and really learned a lot.

Eventhough he reads directly off his powerpoint he's a great prof that actually cares about the students well being and encourages them to succeed. His lectures were very organized and well explained. His tests are fair and very direct. He's the first prof that actually seemed to care.
I think he should grade easier...coz his curve is unfair for a biochem class....since he was a student once upon a time, i thought he would understand other students but his more of a jerk when it comes to grades.
Grades unfairly, and his curve is also lame. If you want to ruin your GPA, take his class.
Prof. Larson is a great professor. Isn't as cold hearted as others think and his lame jokes are pretty funny. Material covered in class will be on Midterms/Final, so no surprises. Also, goes over what will be on quizzes. Overall, great class.
as with any course... it's easy if you keep on top of things. biochem is just another one of those classes. if you fall a week behind, you're screwed, but if you study and do ALLLL the homeworks (there's lots) you'll be okay. overall, he can seem intimidating but is actually a pretty nice guy.
He is a great professor. He tells you what to do exactly and his exams reflect this. Helpful in office hours and has a vibrant teaching style. Compared to Dr. Spindler, the other lecturer, Dr. Larsen was very good. His curve is amazing.. if you get an 80% overall you get an A in the class. Just ace the first midterm and get 80 on the rest. Awesome!
Great teacher and very helpful in office hours. way better than Spindler!
the best professor at UCR
he's a really nice guy and does his best for the subject he teaches. BCH 100 could EASILY be a 6 unit class; the amount of time you have to put in to memorize stuff for this is ****ing unbelievable. I dont think I've had to put in this much studying for a class since chem 112C
Great Teacher. Knows a great deal on the info that youll be taking so ask questions. Hes very approachable and hes a pretty funny guy. You wont be fallin asleep though since there is a ton on info in this class. Get on top early, make note cards, study guides what ever....just do it, youll need em. Spindler coming was the only prob w/the class.
This guy takes a notoriously difficult course and turns it into a manageable class. He is EXTREMELY clear about what he expects you to learn, and he's also pretty funny. Go to class and study and you should be fine.
Dr. Larsen is by far the best professor I had at UCR. He will bring the FUN in Funny, and the HELP in Helpful.
What a good looking man. He says he deserves a chilli pepper. I say he deserves a bottle of Tabasco.
very funny! keeps me entertained through a not so entertaining subject!

Dr. Larsen rocks!! You'll always be in for a treat when you come to class. His jokes are quite entertaining and keeps you involved in the subject. He definitely got me interested in biochem. He should be a part-time comedian!
He's a really nice professor and he always makes a bunch of jokes. His tests are hard, but fair. As long as you keep up with the material you should be fine. Also, pay attention to what he says will be on the test. He tells you everything you need to study
Great professor, very interesting . . . go to lecture and he will tell you what's on the test
Dr. Larsen is an excellent professor. His lectures seem to go a little fast, he expects you to review and bring printed out slides beforehand. If you try to write down the slides during class your hand will fall off. He stresses what is important for exam material. I highly recommend Dr. Larsen, especially for a class of this caliber.
I used to think that Biochem was gonna be the hardest and most boring class ever! Dr. Larsen took this difficult course and made it understandable for even the biggest retards like me! I enjoyed going to class and i honestly feel that i learned a lot!!!

to sum it up. he tells you exactly what's on the test and quizzes. And if your lazy and dont feel like reviewing on a regular basis then don't take him
The best teacher I have ever had, he inspired me to become a biochem major. Only teacher I ever attended every single class for, gave me a complete comprehension of the subject.
Dr. Larsen is one of the best professors at UCR! He makes a difficult course manageable. I highly recommend him!
He's as good as it gets. Best sciences teacher I've had at UCR, hands down. Lectures are enjoyable, and he's really easy to understand. He will tell you what you need to know for quizzes and exams as long as you attend lecture. Do all your work, though. You mean need the edge for the next prof.
Larsen is one of the best professors I've ever taken. Lecture hall is almost always full. Really cares about the students understanding the material. Pretty funny and goofy as well; knows how to "drop it like it's hot"... in his own nerdy way... Take Larsen, you won't regret it.
His explanations and his lecture notes are really helpful. Make sure you go to class everyday because you'll get a kick out of him, and you'll LEARN something. If you're not willing to memorize and go over the lecture notes on a daily basis, then don't take biochemistry at all. I totally agree with the person below me!

Larsen is one of the best professors I had. He does not try to trick you and you know exactly what to expect. The tests are a reflection of the quizzes and he always hints what will be on the test. Oh yeah, makes NAD +, you'll here that a lot
He is awesome; lets just leave it at that.
Best professor i have ever had. Actually cares about students learning the material and he is approachable during office hours. His tests are very fair, he will drop several hints during lecture about exam questions, go to class you'll know half of the test. Has a good sense of humor... Flava flav on halloween ... better than my britney costume..
Dr. Larsen is one of the best professors I've ever had! He keeps class interesting with his entertaining personality, presents the information clearly, is very knowledgeable and eager to help at office hours and after class, and truly wants his students to succeed. The study habits I developed in his class helped me throughout undergrad.
To make NAD+. I hate you, Dr. Larsen. Seriously though, one of the best professors I've ever had. I just got pwned by Henry's sections, but had an A in the class the whole time before that. Go to office hours...just don't make yourself a target =P. Almost a guaranteed A if you go to his office hours. He's just that good at what he does.
Amazing professor. Tells you what is going to be on the test beforehand. Lectures are great and actually makes you interested in learning!!
Easiest A ever. Just go to office hours.
To be fair, I detest biochem with a passion irrational in its intensity... that said, Dr. Larsen is actually a good professor, as much as I hate to admit it.Go to class, he tells you whats on the midterm. He's fun in class, too. But even so,I would rather be a janitor than a biochemist, and am baffled by how anyone can LIKE this crap.Ruined my GPA.
One of the best Professors that I have had! I love this guy, he even dressed up as Officer Dangle from Reno 911 for halloween. Class always went by fast, office hours are a must if you want a letter of rec. Very helpful, very funny, very good at what he does.
he has to be one of the best teachers and UCR period. He is really funny and makes the material interesting.
Simply hilarious and an excellent professor.
One of the best professors at U.C.R.!
look's great in jeans!
I am currently taking BCH100 and all I can say is that the course is very demanding! I don't get to see my mother on mothers day becuase he decided to give us an exam the day after mothers day! My mother thanks you very much becuase of that Dr. Larson...he should atleast apologize to his SPRING2010 class!
His lectures are very clear! and you are told what you will be tested on! a very cool professor overall!!!
It doesn't matter if you like biochem or not, you will love this class. Dr. Larsen cracked me up every single day, but at the same time he made the material interesting and understandable. There is no other professor like him, he is hands down the BEST!
put it this way, if you dont take Larsen's class, you will miss out on a great quarter. Biochem isn't an easy subject, but Larsen tells you exactly what to know for the exams. The exams were more than fair. Overall a great class!
GREAT teacher. He is very clear in his lectures, and is clear on whats going to be on his exams. The class is hard, not his fault however. He is really helpful outside of class, so utilize his office hours and discussion board questions.
Probably the best professor I have had at UCR to date. He's extremely clear on what he expects you to know. He's a great teacher, has an awesome sense of humor, and this was probably the best course of my undergraduate career.
Larsen was a great professor. Lecture attendance isn't mandatory (there's no clickers or anything), but he tells you exactly what you need to know to get an A on his tests. However, the class is not easy. Lots of memorization required. But he lightens the mood by being a pretty funny guy. (Dressed up as "Edward" on Halloween LOL)
Nobody used the textbook. All you need is the slides. He's tough and you need to understand all the concepts AND memorize bulky details in a small length of time (but that's biochem for you). I recommend you record lectures because he talks fast and he usually hints on his free response midterm/final questions.
Awesome professor. Very clear. He tells you exactly what will be on the test. I currently have an A in his class. Tricks to get an A: Print out slides and take notes in class and record EVERY lecture. Don't be lazy, if he says know it, KNOW it. Exams are all short paragraphs, but don't be intimidated at all. Take him, he is truly a great professor!
A very entertaining and clear lecturer. I laughed during every single lecture and never fell asleep - he likes to talk loud! My favorite class and lecturer so far. He literally tells you what you must know and what would make a good test question!!
Larsen is one of my favorite teachers in riverside. If you listen to him, he will give you hints on what will be on the test. Overall his tests are super fair. I was never surprised with the type of questions he asked. Overall, he is clear and concise
Only had him for two weeks, but he was very clear in explaining. A bit arrogant with crude jokes but a very good teacher. He tells you specifically what you need to know. Study for the quizzes every week in discussion and as long as you actually remember the material you'll do well on the exams.
Only had him for 2 weeks but he's excellent! Cracks jokes and tells you exactly what you need to know for exams/quizzes. Study lecture notes + write down things he says are important and you'll be fine. Exams are free response. HW was a little hard but not impossible. Textbook wasn't necessary for success, for me at least.
Larsen is just wonderful, I enjoyed the class although I hate biochem, he made it interesting and fun..!!! I made the mistake of not going to office hours, but I know if you do go, it would help a lot..!! hes lectures are great, its better if you go to lecture because not everything is on the slides
BCH is an extremely tough subject and I completely abhor it, but Larsen is an awesome professor! He makes everything so much more interesting. It's still a tough class, but if you attend lecture, he lets you know EXACTLY what's on the quiz and exams. Definitely go to office hours as well. It will help! And his curve is pretty generous.
this class requires a ridiculous amount of time to study. If you thought ochem was hard, your in for a huge surprise. Anything he says in class that "you should know this" it will be on the exam.. Theres always a couple curve ball questions on his exams, but just relax and its possible to get an A.No hw, quizes in dicussion suck. make sure to pray.
Attend lectures! He says what will and won't be on the exams. Learn all the assigned structures and do the homework. Homework is a great grade buffer if you take the time to do it. He tells you what the quizzes will be. Exams are free response, lots of writing/drawing. If you know the material, you'll do fine. He made the class interesting.
Larsen is an amazing professor. Attend his lectures as he gives out TONS of hints as to what will be on his exams/quizzes. The book is useless. Memorize everything on the list he gives you and STUDY all his slides. This class takes lots of time but if you put in the effort, you'll get an A.
BCH isn't an easy subject, but Larsen makes it doable. Attend his lectures & office hours; he gives out tons of hints. Study his lecture slides and vocab list. Make sure you do the homework! Getting an A is not impossible if you work your ass off.
Lecture attendance isn't mandatory, but he tells you exactly what you need to know on his quizzes. Lots of memorization required for all the cycles. He lectures with an angrily toned voice. Take note to what he says in lecture IT WILL APPEAR ON THE MIDTERM/FINAL, dont try cramming into his office last minute before a midterm, won't do you any good.
Larsen is a great professor. I'm just a horrible student.
Larsen is the man, you have to work, but he will make you great if you do. The class is hard to get an A, has a built in grade curve and is a beast to do. I did this and was so good by the end I did great on MCAT from this class. He is super nice, really knowledgable, he is awesome. Work hard, and he will show you so much. Loved him, TAKE HIM!
I've never written one of these before but Larsen was the best professor I've had!! He was very straightforward&entertaining, which allowed the material (although difficult) to be 100% graspable. He may seem intimidating at first, but he's amazing! It isn't an easy class, effort is needed, but it's not impossible at all to get an A. GO LARSEN!!!!!
Funny dude. Kept lectures short, sweet and entertaining. Will tell you what is on the tests throughout his lectures, and they are on the test. class requires memorization. Homework is due before lectures and require you to read the chapter but they are easy points to buffer your grade. If you put in the work, you'll get an A
He's definitely funny and an amazing lecturer, no way anyone can ever fall asleep in his class. But when it comes to exams he wants specific key words. So you can lose points easily. Lecture notes aren't as great as his presentations. He's definitely much easier than Dr. Luben I'll say though and hates the cold but he's from Michigan lol
Not only is Dr. Larsen the best biochemistry professor to ever walk the planet... He is HILARIOUS!! He tells you everything you need to know for quizzes and exams.. and I mean EVERYTHING He builds relationships with the students and takes the time to get to know you. Very caring individual Don't buy the book Never opened it again after week 1
Dr. Larsen is by far one of the most exceptional professors, I had in all my undergraduate studies. I greatly enjoyed his class, and while the material was no walk in the park, not by any means, he presented it in a way that it all connected some how and related to my daily life.
One of the hardest classes i've ever taken. Tons of busy work and tests are a time crunch. Don't care at all. Absolutely amazing teacher with amazing lectures. Stand up guy that doesn't act like the students are pawns or a nuisance. Would take him again. Top notch lecturer. What every teacher should strive to be. Record lectures to do well.
This class is very conceptual, so the most important thing is to understand the big ideas and how to apply them. Memorization covers the easy points in exams, get them or else you will hate yourself. Go to SI sessions, they go over concepts and answer questions that are fair game for the exams. OHs helps alot too. Warning: he talks very fast.
Lengthy chapters and concepts that is fair game on exams. Personally, the homeworks were more thought provoking than the exams. It probably had to do with the fact the homeworks were MC, and all exams were written. Go to lecture, record lecture, take notes, study & review recording, understand the material.. get an A.
By far the best professor I've taken at UCR. He is extremely knowledgable, funny, and very fair. GO TO CLASS. He will make it extremely obvious as to what you are expected to know, to the point of him directly telling you what is going to be on the test. Must record lectures as well.
Dr Larsen is honestly one of the best science professors i have ever taken. his lectures are full of information so id suggest recording them, i dont understand how anyone not recording them could pass the class. The material is heavy but he explains it well and literally tells you whats going to be on the test! Wish he could teach more courses
Professor Larsen engages the students during lectures by asking questions and mentioning exciting stories. The class has a curved grading scale, and there is extra credit offered. The discussion quizzes can be tough, but the two projects can improve your grade. The midterm and final are both MC. Lectures are optional if you study the posted slides.
Class is based off Papers (there are two), Quizzes (during discussion), a midterm, and final. He gives good extra credit and gives a letter grade up curve (if your final grade is a B he will curve it to an A). Discussions are held when they need to be, and he lets you know what days you should show up. Tests are not cumulative. Great class and prof
This class will take up your time. Lots of memorization. Studied a total of 7 hours for one quiz. Ochem is easier compared to this. Go to lecture bc he says a lot that's important that will not be on the slide. He will tell what will be on the exam but don't rely only on the slides to study. Take opportunity of extra credit , YOU WILL NEED IT
GO TO LECTURE!!!! He tells you exactly what going to be on the exam. He shows you the actual quiz before discussion. Larsen has probably been one of the best professors I've ever had. He is hilarious during class time, but is able to pack his lectures with all of the crucial info needed to do well in his class.80 percent is the cutoff for an A-.
I would 100% recommend him, even over Dingwall. Really funny and literally tells you exactly whats on the test. This class is much fairer and easier than Ochem and Bio. If you put in the effort to memorize, yu will get an A.
BEST PROFESSOR I have taken at UCR. There's 5 discussion quizzes, 1 midterm, and a final. He tells you what is going to be on the quizzes, midterm, and final the lecture before you're going to have it. The class is basically just memorizing. I didn't go to class unless he was saying what would be on a test and got an A+ easily. TAKE HIM!!!
Love Larsen!! he is an awesome professor and genuine guy. Can seem standoffish when you first get to know him but then he is super down to earth and friendly, unlike most professors. He never lets being a prof get to his head. Go to lecture, do all hws and readings, go to office hours with questions. Overall, great prof and great class.
(ONLINE Spring 2020) Open book quizzes, midterm & final. Adds funny elements to lectures & is blunt. Lectures were straight from the textbook. One project reflecting on food labels & one paper analyzing your eating habits; his expectations can be a little unclear, ask for clarification! Manageable.
This class is designed for everyone to pass and it up to you what grade you get. Dr. Larsen is an amazing lecturer and did an incredible job considering he didnt have an ideal audience.
Amazing Professor! There is a lot of material to cover, but Prof Larsen makes examples that are easy to remember. 2 projects, 5 quizzes, 2 exams. Due to COVID this class was online, which made it even easier. Offers extra credit, projects are graded by completeness by your TA. Exams are multiple choice. Don't buy the textbook, I never used it.
Overall had a great experience taking BCH100 with Professor Larsen! His lectures were clear and organized. He also gave everyone a heads up on what to study for the next quiz as well as the midterm. He was very understanding throughout this whole remote learning experience. Getting an A in his class is not impossible, you just have to work for it.
This guy has to one of the best professors I've taken up there with the likes of Casselman. He's very clear on what will be on the test (VERY). He grades fairly. He even ends up cutting class short because he thinks some of the lecture slides are boring. He's a real one for sure and to be honest as long as you memorize your cycles then you're fine.
Professor Larsen is by far the best professor i've had at UCR. His teaching style is so amazing and I feel like I'm actually learning. He doesn't overcomplicate things. It is obvious that he wants his students to succeed by simply stating what he expects us to know. This is so helpful. Despite its difficulty, this class reminded me why I love biolo
Larsen is the best professor I've had at UCR. Tells us exactly what's going to be on the tests, makes lecture interesting and relatable, and is pretty funny too. If you have the chance, take him. You won't regret it.
Honestly an angel. This class is hard and theres a ton of material but hes really understanding and gives extra credit options
Dr. Larsen's exams and quizzes are fair game. He literally emphasizes and states what is important for the exam. He will not explicitly tell you what is on the test, but he heads you to the right direction. He talks a bit fast, but he is good at explaining things without rereading his slides. He is a fair professor. Recommend him!
Great professor; the class is not extremely easy but it is manageable Dr. Larsen teaches really well and very passionately; he tells you exactly what is going to be on the tests and quizzes and he also gives extra credit; He's a very nice professor and wants everyone to succeed
TAKE HIS CLASS! he is an awesome prof, and a really great person. He truly cares for his students and it shows in his lectures and office hours. I really wish he taught the 110 series!
Dr. Larsen is by far one of the best professors in the science department at UCR. He has been one of my personal favorites in terms of the way he lectures, makes what he says memorable, is fair, and caring of his students. He goes over what will appear on exams and memorize cycles. Amazing professor 10/10.
Best professor in the biochem dpt by far. He is very down to earth and approachable, unlike alot of professors. Take his class, you wont regret it. He wants his students to enjoy and understand biochem. If you do poorly its your own fault, he tells you everything you need to know. Very straightforward
Easily the best professor for BCH and really down to earth. If you take him, you won't regret it. I really wish there was other professors like him. About to take my final soon but he is a gem!
Dr. Larsen is hands down one of the best professors at UCR. He made the learning experience interesting and enjoyable. He explains everything that will be on the exams so as long as you attend the lectures, you'll definitely do well!
Excellent professor, makes topics interesting and is a good lecturer. Provided extra credit assignments and wanted us to do well in the class.
Dr Larsen is the best biochem professor. His lectures were easy to follow and understand, and he is very helpful with answering questions and supporting students during office hours with concepts they're struggling with. can tell he really cares about students. 50 points of extra credit (in a class that's out of 500 points rlly helps!). recommend!
Dr. Larsen is one of the best professors I have ever had. He genuinely cares about his students and sets you up with the knowledge you need to know. He is a little tricky because he is very specific in exams and quizzes, but he tells you the general topics ahead of time. Pay attention and KNOW the material! It isn't hard, just a lot.
Dr. Larsen actually just wants the best for his students and nothing else. His lecture style is more verbal based than off of a slide and he makes real world connections where he can. He is the absolutely goated and would taking him again if I could. He really sets students up for success as much as he can the rest is on you!
i loved this class & hes prob one of my fav professors. lectures are easy to follow and enjoyable. he actually connects, talks to students & wants students to succeed & it shows. office hours are not only a great way to ask questions but to also get to know him. exams can be difficult but if you pay attention to his lectures then you'll get an A
He's an excellent instructor.
Never thought any university lectures could be this entertaining. Seriously HE IS SO GOOD at teaching. Taking his biochemistry make you feel like watching a comedian and learning at the same time.
Dr. Larsen is one of the best profs i've ever had. His lectures are interesting and funny, and he rlly cares for students and is here to help you learn. Gives great advice to clear up confusion on concepts, I thought I wouldn't like biochem but he made it really enjoyable to learn.
Love this class so much. I was dreading taking biochem because I've hear how challenging it can be, but Prof Larsen is an amazing professor (probably the best I've ever had)! He cares about his students and tells you exactly what you need to know. He is patient and explains concepts so clearly. THANK U PROF. LARSEN I APPRECIATE U!!!
midterm + final + 5 discussion quizzes + EC. Everyone makes biochem to be super hard, but this class was a breeze. His lectures were very interesting, but he does talk fast so you need to pay attention. He also hints at test questions during lectures. Test are free response, but not difficult at all since he tells you exactly what to study
Dr Larsen is such a funny and caring prof. He teaches in a very engaging way and is clear about expectations. The subject can be difficult but he makes it very easy to follow. If you do your part in reviewing lecture it is very possible to succeed in his course.
Dr. Larsen is super chill! I really recommend taking his class. It's a really easy class. If you reach out to him about a deadline or having issues with anything he addresses it. One of the best classes.
Dr. Larsen is truly a great person. He doesn't only guide us to get good grades but also makes our learning a priority. The lectures were interesting, fun to engage in, and provide value to our lives. He is kind, patient and understanding. Responds well to our concerns and gives us extra credit. I would definitely take him again!
I would recommend going to his lectures as he hints at the questions on the exam. His lectures are clear and easy to follow. He is accessible outside of class. If you email him, he allows you to turn in any late work and remake quizzes (if you miss them). Gives out extra credit, but the amount depends on how well the class is doing.
It really depends on how well you listen to his lectures. He literally tells you which topics to focus on and hints which type of questions will be in the exam. 2 exams and 5 quizzes. He shows the quiz the day before and he reads out to you the exam questions he will give you a day or two ahead of time.
The best professor I had at UCR. The quizzes and exams aren't too bad since they aren't tricks and test whether you understood. He gives you the quiz/exam layout beforehand to better your studies and see what questions he might ask. He gives great lectures that have useful anecdotes to help you. Not to mention he's hilarious. Would recommend class!
Really chill and fun class, everything is open notes including exams. The professor is also genuinely funny and is a nice person. He gives a lot of extra credit. It's just an easy class, that doesn't require studying. The lectures are quite interesting and you get to learn a lot about nutrition.
If you go to the lecture, he tells you what to study and what to ignore. 2 midterms + 5 quizzes + extra credit. Shows you the quiz a day before. Reads exam questions one or two days before exam day. Super easy if you pay attention to what he wants you to know. You don't have to memorize the structures, only the names and order of the pathways.
Dr. Larson was a great lecturer! If you attend class and study you will do well. He tells you exactly what is on the quizzes and exams. He relates his lectures to real life and his lectures are in a reasonable order.
Shows you the quizzes before you take them. Reads you the exam questions 1 lecture before you take it. Good teacher bc he relates things to our life and uses memorable analogies. Tells you what slides to focus on, we were generally out 10-20 min early. Generous curve, supposedly A was 82.5%, A+ 87.5. Very approachable. Go to office hours!
This was probably one of the easiest class I took at UCR. He teaches well and is so clear on the information he provides. I enjoyed taking this class and learning about nutrition.
Professor Larsen is fair, polite and a great lecturer. I recommend this course if you need extra units to graduate. You can easily take this course with three other classes. This course is not demanding and very manageable.
Manageable class and easy gen-ed credits. 2 projects and open-book quizzes. Prof is reachable and understanding.
By far the best professor I had in a science class! He provides amazing lectures and provides hilarious stories that actually helps us understand the topics for the class itself! His lectures end quickly and provides key points of what we need to know for any quiz or exam through lecture slides. I would take his class again 100%
best stem professor ever! he gives you quiz and exam questions ahead of time and offered a few extra credit assignments. his lectures are interesting and he really tries to get to know his students. also go to office hours!
live laugh larsen
Prof. Larsen is brilliant & makes biochemistry enjoyable. His sense of humor and off-topic questions make lectures engaging and easier to understand. He's open to recording lectures and has a relaxed, conference-style approach to office hours. After taking his class, I see why my wife, now a Chief Resident in EM, always praised him. Take his class!
super nice easy
Great teacher, very easy
I love this teacher. The teacher will skip slides if they are not related to the exam. He will go over the quizzes before the actual quiz. Tell you the literal type of question on the EXAM! so you can study specific things from his lecturers. Show up to class and review lectures for quizzes and exams. His lectures are worth it. Took class at summer
Very kind and understanding professor. Definitely one of the best courses I have taken thus far.
Professor Larsen is a great lecturer - he provides detailed guidance on what to focus on for the quizzes and exams. Attend class, follow his advice, and you'll do well. I also found unstuck AI helpful for efficient exam prep.
This is one of the easist class I've ever taken at UCR. If you can get this class as one of your Bio/Science elective GE DO IT! Everything is online and open-notes. Dr.Larsen was so chill. Extremely doable and it's impossible to fail. I actually took the chance to reflect on my eating habits. Also this class has no mandatory discussions.
Dr Larsen always made class enjoyable. He used relatable examples to break complicated topics up into easier to understand sections. He was always willing to help students when needed. He also made sure to show us the quizzes and tell us what content would be on the exam to ensure everyone did well.
Take Dr. Larsen for BCH100 if he's available. His lectures are both clear and interesting, and reflect exactly what he wants you to answer on exams. He makes excellent and relatable analogies on seemingly difficult topics. Attendance is optional, but I highly recommend it because he shows the quizzes ahead of time. Extra credit is also provided.
