The worst Prof. on campus. Screams, calls names, humiliates students for fun. He's an awful prof.
Yes, he is very intimidating and expects you to answer in a certain way, you learn alot...by force. His exams suck- they consist of a stack of blank paper and sheer memory.
Dont Care what anybody says this guy is bad ass. yes he is agressive, picks on you, gets mad when you dont answer correctly but trust me you do what he says you wont get an A you will earn an A. at the beginnig of semester class starts with 30students ends with 12. awsome teacher trust me.
Great prof. i would take him again. the test are a few pages of note thats it. tells you WORD FOR WORD the notes. Don't skip class thats 25% of your grade your test are 25% of your grade. vary easy if you want to learn and want an A take him!!
Easy to make an A if you don't miss class. He takes attendance everyday. Do not buy book for class all tests are based on lecture notes. Not very approchable and likes to put you on the spot so pay attention to what he tells you.He hates ignorant people and dont be late.
Excellent teacher,I've noticed he likes to pick on only the people who don't pay attention, who are late, who don't turn in their homework, who miss class.Do what he ask and you will be okay.otherwise u will be picked on, test are based on notes, memory u have to write out word for word from notes.
This prof knows what he's talking about and tells you what notes you need to know. He is funny and tends to pick on the same people for answers but just take notes, don't be absent, and pay attention and you will get an "A".
This guy is tough on some and can pick on you. But he's a great prof. I was gonna drop, but thank god I didn't.He grows on you and all you have to do is memorize the notes for any exam and you get an easy A. I got one for the Intro class. Now i'm taking him again for the hell of it(CRIJ 1306).
He is both Intelligent and Educated. I had him in the early 80's. Do not call him a "Hippie Lawyer". When you leave you will be able to hang with the best. You MUST be able to prove yourself. This is his point. SAC is a better school because of him. If he "picks" on you, you can do much better.
I could've learned more about the crime system from my exhumed poop than from this clown :)
He is absolutely great! He will pick on you to see if you have reviewed the material, sometimes he will get on your nerves but you learn to deal with him. He will tell you exactly what will be on the tests, no suprises. I got an A in both classes.
Great professor, dont be absent and be on time, memorize notes for exams.
Prof L. is a great prof....have taken him for most of my CJ classes....i like him because you actually learn the material.....
i've had this guy as a teacher 3 times, once when i did it half assed and i had to take it over again, and once for fund of crim law, simply he's a great teacher,a little unorthodox but his methods have meaning and in all he will make you a better student if you let him and don't be lazy,go to class
He's easy and funny. He makes u learn. At first, he looks like he'll be hard but don't let his appearance full u.
Great notes, pay attention, write exactly what he says
good teacher....just take REALLY good notes!
comes off as an ****, but is actually awesome...he makes u think, and work for your grade which benefits you in the long run...all memorization for test and the best part is....NO TEXT BOOK REQUIRED!!!
He Is A Good Teacher, You Will Always Need A Pen/Pencil & A Notebook To Keep Your Notes...Never Be Late To Class...
JERK! Maybee I got him on an off semester but I have never had a worse teacher and that includes my american hating- comunist english teacher from 5th grade. I was sooo looking forward to this class but it was 3 hours of VERBAL ABUSE. If you ask him a question he will humiliate you for wording something wrong. Made me want to become an alcohilic
everything is memorizing and it SUCKS. the test are hard and you have to take very detailed notes for his class. i delt with it for 1 semester but never again
Couldnt pick a worse teacher. I heard he is actually somewhat nice for day classes but such a jerk at night your not sure whether or not to take him seriously.
okay, honestly he is a tough professor, but worth your time. yes the tests are all memorization but you learn it. he is a jerk but i love him for it. your getting into the criminal justice field guys who ever said it was easy out there lied. his class is hard but i learned more from him than any other professor he.
VERY HARD TEACHER. SOMETIMES I CANT UNDERSTAND HIM.NEVER MISS A DAY OF CLASS, YOU WILL REGRET IT. TAKES WAY TOO MANY NOTES. TESTS ARE ALL MEMORIZATION. CANT ASK HIM QUESTIONS BC HE WILL GET MAD. EMBARASSES YOU IN FRONT OF THE CLASS IF YOU DONT KNOW SOMETHING.VERY RUDE. BUT HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS TEACHING BECAUSE HE IS AN ATTORNEY.LEARNED A LOT
UNBELIEVABLY BY FAR THE WORST TEACHER AT SAC-AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!- VERY OPPOSITIONAL, DEFIANT, ABUSIVE, PROFANE, AND CONFRONTATIONAL-IF HE LIKES U YOU'LL DO OK IF NOT-DROP ASAP-TESTS, FEW THAT THERE ARE, ARE NOT FROM BOOK-HE GRADES EXTREMELY SUBJECTIVELY AND CAPRICIOUSLY-HE'S HAS COMPLAINTS AND GRADE GRIEVANCES GALORE FILED AGAINST HIM-WILL YOU
Be warned: this teacher is not a very qualified teacher. His test consist soley on memory, I'm serious, he tells you what pages of your notes the test will be on and then on test day he hands you several sheets of blank paper for you to take the test on. Don't take his class if you can't take good notes. And never be absent, he'll be on your case.
i took him for maymester, and i am horrible with memorization. it's pretty intense. otherwise, yea, he's sarcastic as hell and gives you sh*t if you miss a day but if you can't take the heat... on finals day, my car broke down and i arrived an hour late mind a blank. i wrote him a note and somehow i pulled out with a B. i learned more than any c
JERK....Made me despise him by anouncing he was God...right....sure...TOTAL JERK avoid this class at ALL COST
There is a lot of note taking in this class. He tells you exactly what to do and what to write. He tells you what pages to know for the test. If you really want to pass just go to class everyday, study your notes before every test and you WILL pass. If I could do it so can you. Trust me!
If you have a good memory and don't mind taking notes, he's the teacher for you. Don't be late to class and don't talk during class. Tests are straight from notes word for word. gives you test questions for study guide. Not much homework.
A good teacher. He's an attorney so he knows the law and will keep you entertained with his stories about his clients. Will make you look dumb if you don't answer correctly but the questions are common sense. Tests are all memorization so take notes WORD FOR WORD and don't miss class. Can be offensive but is very funny. Would take again
I took a class in '90. He was one of the best teachers I've ever had. You did not have to guess where you stood or what was required of you. His great concern is that students learn search and seizure law so they don't violate people's rights and cases stand. If you demonstrate to him that you don't care, you will be like chum in shark tank.
If you want to really learn the material, take this professor. He is unorthodox and rude (brutal at times) but if you attend class, write down his notes word for word and memorize the material for the tests, you can easily get an A. Very little homework and no textbook. I will take him again. Just try not to take him personally.
good teacher. yes, he is very harsh on students especially if they cant get the right answer and will probably embarass you at one time or another but everyone in the class goes through it. his questions are from prior notes anyway.tests are very easy, complete memorization.ive made A's on all of them.good if you want to actually learn more.
Really easy
Awesome professor. Everything is truly word for word. I now have an 80 page guide to criminal justice thanks to his class. I am taking him again (for three classes). If you can memorize, do well on the spot, and have quick wit you will enjoy this professor. I don't recommend him for those who do not like participation.
He can be a hard ass at times, but all you really need to do is know your notes. There are times when he can be funny and the class is going smoothly.
He seems like a very difficult teacher, but if you attend his classes and study the notes he gives, you will do just fine. He is rude and very different BUT YOU WILL LEARN in his class!!! I made an A , I studied for it . He is GREAT!!!
Easy class ONLY if you're good at memorization (tests are simply rewriting your notes). Take notes and study and you'll do fine. Prof thinks he's funny, will try (and probably succeed) to embarrass you. Will NOT tell you about missed assignments, but will take work late; get friendly with a classmate and this won't be a problem.
I went to SAC years ago and then graduated from UTSA but I still remember Mr. Lechowich as the best and one of the toughest professors I ever had. I learned more from him than any professor I had in my 6 years of college (yea it took me awhile). If you read this, thank you Mr. Lechowich!
I have taken Mr. Lechowick for four classes already,he is a very good professor you really learn alot from him, he is very strict on attendance, he can be a little rude and mean sometimes but you get used to it after a while, definitly have to study and read for his class, this is not an easy A course he makes you earn your grade.
very understandable man ..always willing to help IF YOU COMMUNICATE with him. he tells it like it is and if you have a sense of humor and take everything personal, you wont want to take him. i will take him for every class I can.
I would not advise anyone to take this teacher. He is extremely rude! He doesn't require a book but he wants you to write very detailed outlines EXACTLY as he says in class. For the tests you have to memorize the four to five pages of the outline and give three ORGINAL examples. He is not any easy teacher! Do NOt Take HIM!
oooh...mr.lechowick what can i say he is hard ass and looks mean and he can make u**** in ur pants if he wants to but he is the best teacher ever u will learn alot from him he going to the point i have taken already 3 classes with him and i am going for my last 2 hopefully he is teaching them ....but if ur a lazy ass dont take him...
he is an amazing teacher. i took him for 3 classes defenetly have to earn your grade a lil rude sometimes... sometimes funny got an A 3 times .
I took him for 5 different criminal justice classes. He is a great professor. You learn a lot in all his classes. It's true that sometimes he won't help you with questions but that's because he wants you to motivate yourself to go find the answer yourself. I highly reccomend him and wished he taught all the CJ classes!
almost dropped class but kept going .Prof is rude and if you dont answer the question correctly gets after you..lots of info provided and you have to keep up with him..Attendance mandatory ...Test are very easy if able to memorize things all test I go 98..Worse teacher I ever had but I learned alot.Be prepare if you take this class ...
Not easy at all and you can get stressed but for sure a great teacher. He dosnt give away grades and makes you work for them but you learn a lot from him. Is very straight up and can be a little rude but you have to have a good sense of humor and not take everything personally. Love his class and wish i was taking him again.
GREAT TEACHER FOR CJ MAJOR; IF NOT DONT TAKE!I LEARNED SO MUCH BUT I HAD TO WORK HARD. WONT HELP ON QUESTIONS B/C WANTS YOU TO FIGURE IT OUT. PAY ATTENTION. DO THE HW. DONT ASK DUMB QUESTIONS B/C HE WILL PUT YOU ON BLAST. COME PREPARED EVERYDAY. TRY NOT TO MISS B/C IT WILL ONLY HURT YOU B/C HE COVERS ALOT OF MATIREAL IN ONE DAY.
HE IS A RUDE TEACHER BUT HE TEACHES YOU A LOT OF INTERESTING THINGS. TEST ARE HARD AND UNLESS YOU HAVE A GREAT MEMORY YOU WONT BE PASSING HIS TEST. 50% OF YOUR GRADE IS SHOWING UP TO CLASS AND PARTICIPATION. OTHER THAN THAT HE IS A GOOD TEACHER. DONT TAKE HIS RUDE COMMENTS TO HEART!!
He is a great instructor. You will learn from him. He does not give grades away. I highly recommend him to everyone.
Great Teacher, Loved Him!!!
Great Professor, True to the bone. He does not give grades away but I have to say I worked hard on my work and he was very happy with my findings on a few occasions. If your sensitive to negative comments either come prepared or don't come at all. ALWAYS BE ON TIME AND PRESENT I can not stress that enough. Good luck to all who take his courses...
He was horrible. I knew my stuff so he never picked on me. I felt bad for the others that he did pick on. He bored me to tears the only thing that kept me awake was his constant rudeness!
He's a good professor n knows what u need to knw. U just need to keep up wit the notes. He's tough but he's a really good teacher. U will learn a lot witt him.
He keeps you on your feet the whole time. so be prepared to be called aon and think of an example in less than a minute. His tests are pretty simple all you have to do is memorize the notes that are going to be in the exam! I enjoyed his class even if he is rude!!
awsome teacher aside from him being rude he is funny ! he keeps you on your toes, he likes to call on students to give examples other than that he is a great teacher
I took 2 classes with Mr. Lechowick in the early 1980's and I still remember how tough it was to get an A in both of those classes. I have since retired from a major police dept in central Texas after a successful career(assistant chief). Mr. Lechowick taught me critical thinking that served me well! If you want to be just average take another prof
He is informative and has extensive experience on the material. He is a joker and not afraid to call someone out for being lazy or not showing up. The class is all about the notes, everyone should have the exact same notes. He keeps the entire class involved with questions and keeps you alert. Good teacher defintely would recommend.
Attendance is MANDATORY!!! Do not take this class if you plan to miss more than once. He's funny but isn't afraid to call anyone out. Everyday of class is important take good notes and pay attention and you will do just fine
Rude- lol- I loved this class he is firm no shows avoid him and do not ask stupid questions I will take him again you work hard for your grade but you leave that class alot smarter than you came in...Hang Em High Paul..love you Man....
He is an amazing teacher the knowledge he has over the Texas law is unbelievable. You will not regret taking his class I an promises you he will teach you more in a week just by talking to you and you taking notes. It is hard to make an A in his class but not so hard that you can't get one just work hard and don't be afraid to ask him for help.
I don't even ow where to start. We had homework almost everyday and everything had to typed. However, he allowed us to turn in work late and let us do make up work, even exams. He was my hardest teacher this semester but i learned the most from him and that's what i appreciate.
His classes are definitely not easy but expect to go in there not knowing much and coming out learning a whole lot. Sure, he's a tough one but the man can teach and knows his stuff. Anyone who complains is just looking for an easy way out but this is college not high school. It does help that he can be pretty sarcastic and funny at times.
1301 & 1306. He's my favorite professor. He does come off as a jerk at first, but if you do everything correctly, take detailed notes, participate, and etc. then you will be fine. THIS CLASS ISN'T AN EASY A!YOU WILL HAVE TO WORK YOUR BUTT OFF IN ORDER TO MAKE A GOOD GRADE! I learned so much in both of the classes with him. He's very knowledgeable.
I was fortunate enough to sit by a peer who had taken Lechowick the previous semester. Pay special attention to the way he dictates his notes because format is everything. Be ready to memorize. If you pay attention in class and turn in every homework assignment, you will pass. This professor is worth your time and money.
Expects students to have a more than basic understanding of the criminal justice world. Easily gets annoyed if students don't know the answers to what he's asking. All exams are essay format and you must answer word for word from his notes, but he basically gives you the exam beforehand. Lots of class participation but it only helps you understand.
for 2313 I did not need my book, he assigns handouts to read and do homework on. He WILL call on you, he calls on everyone. Be prepared to take notes, lot's of them. He is tough and pretty blunt but you will learn, and I will take him again. He's tough but gets his point across.
Great Instructor. Has confidence in his students. I would take him for each CRIJ Course, and I did, the best instructor in the department. TAKE HIM,HE"S THAT GOOD.
He's a great teacher. I learned so much in his class, and am lucky I was able to take him twice. Hes not a hard teacher, hes very strait forward, Do the home work, dont miss any class, study for his tests, be ready to participate. He clearly explains that. if you fail, its literally your own fault, he wont expect you to know anything he hasn't said
I took Mr. Lechowick back in the 1980's. I have never had a better professor. Knowledgeable, tough, funny, fair, and taught the reality of law. I wish I could take his classes again. ,
He is very strict but it's COLLEGE! I learned SO much in this class. You might as well dedicate one whole journal to his class because you take excessive notes, do not skip class or homework he takes it very seriously. Tests are over your notes. Make sure you listen to everything he says or else you will miss something important.
I would recommend him to any student. He is a very tough professor but I can guarantee you will learn so much from him. Make sure to take notes and always be active in his class. Don't skip class and try your hardest not to be late.
Okay professor, took him for 1301, wasn't helpful if i missed class for a legit reason, homework assignments on aces are confusing, he doesn't title anything so if you miss an assignment all you'll see is assignment 1,2,3,4 etc. Allows make up assignments but you will have to depend heavily on your peers if you miss notes, or are confused.
He's a tough teacher but very clear on what he wants done. He assigns homework and doesn't have much tests. He gives you clear outlines on how to answer and do the homework scenarios with classic sentences that you just have to plug in what applies from the code.
He is very intimidating at first. Be sure to really, really study his syllabus, any questions you ask him regarding the class policy, he will tell you "What does the syllabus say?" Be sure to do your homework, participate, and show up everyday, and he will not yell at you and make you feel low. Sounds bad, but it works. Lights a fire under you.
If you plan to skip or miss his class multiple times then this professor isn't for you. He is funny at times but isn't afraid to call ANYONE out, he usually assigns homework every class period (twice per week). If you don't do your homework your probably going to fail, he doesn't give major tests but the homework is a big part of it.
He is a very intimidating professor... He will call you out if you don't know the answer! Besides his harshness, you will learn in his class and take away valuable lessons! Make sure you do ALL homework assignments and he does allow redos, so take advantage of that!!
Do NOT be late to class. His main thing is responsibility. He has high expectations, but his teaching skills are very good. His strictness teaches you to get it together. Excuses do not fly. It is an easy A if you pay attention and do the work.
Can't help but learn and retain. Excellent professor.
This class is the place where you learn more in your own time and through handouts than you do from the ten year embolstered professor. He cares very little for the individual students, and has many rules and stances that make it near to impossible to help your grade after missing a day of class, whether due to sickness or other responsibilities.
He's not your typical professor. But his lectures are the BEST. I had to drop the class due to family emergency; but I cannot wait to go back and retake HIS class. Homework isn't hard if you pay attention in class. He provides you with the information you will need. He gives AMAZING feedback.
Print-out textbook. The more you engage in the lectures he gives, the more he'll point you out in an example of a criminal-related scenario or two, that he gives. If not, you're pretty much non-existent. This is one class you'll do well in if you keep up your concentration level, which needs to be used pretty high.
I take ever class he teaches. He is a strict no nonsense type of professor. Accountability is mandatory. Miss a class and you miss a whole lot. Be involved during the lesson and everything will stick without struggle. Best professor I ever had. And I have had many.
Paul Lechowick. I took him many years ago when I was majoring in criminal justice. I later became an English major. I remember him as being one of the best instructors of my entire academic career. At the time, I thought he was an arrogant jerk. Now I see it differently. His style prepares you for the real world. Sack up!
In 1301 He is a tough grader but if you really study and take notes word for word the answers is in plain sight. For 1310 you have to know the Texas Penal Code laws. It's more challenging than 1301 but he is very fair. Hes one of my favorite professors. If you miss one day you missed a lot. He's just showing you how the real world is.
If you work full time, be prepared. I was not and paid the price in missed work and low attendance. I will try to return to his class someday when my life is less hectic and loaded down, hopefully in the not too distant future, he is a strict grader and strict man, but I learned a lot from his class while I was there, make friends and be prepared.
One of the best professors I've had. If you are passionate about Criminal Justice/ Law take him! You will learn a whole lot of useful information. DO NOT take him if you are just trying to get an easy A. He is hilariously sarcastic, straightforward, and blunt! He lectures the whole class so note everything and don't miss! Wish I could take again.
Professor lechowick is truly one of the few professors that are dedicated to teaching. He is definitely a tough grader but all you have to do is pay attention! If you are truly interested in criminal justice this is your guy! There are people you will come across in life that will leave a mark on you. He is one.
I took him for CRIJ-1301 & CRIJ-1306 this semester. They were my favorite courses. He will intimidate you at first, but I believe that was his way of weeding out those who couldn't handle his class, whether they didn't try, or the pace wasn't for them. He does yell, but you will learn so much & he is quite a character. Work hard & participate!
Take this class if you want to get a career in the Criminal Justice Field. Though some may say Professor Leckowick is an intense and "scary" instructor, he is not! He lectures are AMAZING! He even discusses his own cases to ensure we are understand the topic! He simply expects hard working students. May seem scary at first but in all he's great!
HE is very intense.
Professor Lechowick is the BEST teacher by far. I have taken him for 3 different courses of Criminal Justice and he was amazing. He is very intense and might come off as scary but he stays on you to make sure you pass and know the material. He is great, just do the work. He gives you many attempts to redo it. I got a easy A every-time.
I don't like his discussion questions. You have to answer on different days or you will get them wrong
This is probably the worst professor I've ever taken. He picks on me in class and gets mad when we don't know the answers. He is very rude and a scary teacher. Be ready to write notes every class and have a lot of hw that is graded very harshly. His class is not an easy grade, you will have to go above and beyond to pass the class.
Professor Lechowick is tough! ......BUT...... honestly it is for the good. He comes off as rude and strong personality but he just wants his students to succeed. I will say you must be real detail oriented because he is specific on his instructions and gets upset if you do not pay attention but he does offer good feedback. I would take again tbh
Professor Leckowick is simply the best! He may be tough but I have taken almost every single CJ class and have truly learned alot! He prepares you if you want to pursue a profession in law. I highly recommend him if you are wanting to learn about the justice system! Be prepared to take notes and attend class!
Professor Lechowick is very respectful, caring and understanding. He is very accessible outside of the classroom, if you don't understand something SPEAK UP as he is there to help you. His class is relatively easy as long as you read all the directions and do the assignments as the directions say.
