Tough but fair. He uses the Socratic method in class and once made me cry but it forced me to get over my fear of speaking up in class. He also taught me to write well. In addition, he has a really cute butt that is well showcased in his faded Levis.

Excellent teacher. Shows you several different structures for writing which most teachers like to see. Thanks to professor Licata, I recieved a 12 on my comp I final (out of 12) and an A on my comp II final. Grading is a little tough, but worth it.

Great professor. Really loves teaching. Challenged me to work hard and was very encouraging. Always open for discussion and help. Ivolves the class in discussions.

The class - Holocaust Literature - is truly interesting. He helps to make it that way, too. But he is very picky about paper-writing, and wants things exactly HIS WAY. This is frustrating, as he won't allow you to think for yourself sometimes.

I liked this class.He does put you on the spot in class, but it forces you to pay attention and learn something. His grading is a little hard, but he will work one on one to improve your writing skills.

Kind of hard but for legitimate reasons. He is very funny and treats you like adults.Although it was tough i did pass and enjoyed being in his class.

Very, Very smart man. He knows his stuff. Not the easiest course but he does give you a chance to rewrite papers. This is a Gordon rule class, but he counts rough drafts as part of your 6000 words. In my class we wrote 3 essays and 1 research paper. That's it! NO final!! Enjoyed going to his class!!

i choose to take this teacher twice. i liked the way that he made class fun and interesting. he is hard but if you like a challange then he is a grat teacher. he will help you on anything if you ask.

I learned a lot about how to write a paper due to Mr. Licata. It was a challange, but if you ask him for help, he will give it. I really loved his class and was sad when it was over. Mr. Licata is the best!

A professor par excellence. He expects 100 percent from his students, but he is also willing to give 100 percent of himself. He is very knowledgeable and funny, so in his classes one learns while being entertained. Not a bad combination! I recommend him wholehearted, and I am confident that the serious student will not be disappointed.

My favorite prof EVER. Makes class fun without even trying, and does not condescend to his students. Wish I could have him for more classes! Strongly recommend him.

He is a great guy. He wants to know his students and talks to you. He spends 30 minutes of class talking about anything other than english. He grades papers fair and gives opportunity to get a better grade. His class is actually fun!

Dr Licata's on-line Holocaust Lit class is a must! He takes a topic full of horror and unbelievable happenings and makes it 'live.' I can honestly say, I now know more than I ever did about the Holocaust and better understand how apathy and denial could very well lead to the same thing happening again. Take this course...Dr. L is a great teacher.

I have now graduated from Valencia and I will forever remember Dr. Licata. If you get his class - consider yourself lucky! Get ready to soak up some of his infinite knowledge and have some fun, too! It will stay with you for a long time!

Took it online. Thought it was a contemporary lit. class and it turns out it's soley based on the Holocaust. Interesting material but lots of it. Easy to get an A or B. Nice guy, too. But if you have a life I wouldn't suggest it. You have to read book after book and print them out on your computer. Lots of reading, watching videos, etc.

Professor Licata is very helpfull in completing his assignments. He actually tell you what he wants on the essay paper. Research paper is extremely hard if you don't know what you are doing, but if you know what to do then you are perfectly fine. He offers alot of help but it is up to the student. Mr. Licata is soo sweet!! His jokes are madd funny!! You have to do the 4 papers and read the little stories which are basically your grade. He does grade a bit too hard on the papers!! If you're looking for an easy A class, this isnt for you, you better take Seabaucher or somebody!

Work hard, listen, take notes, READ THE STORIES. He's pretty funny in class but he grades hard on the research paper (8 PAGES MIN). You'll learn a lot about how to write a good paper, so if you want to learn, this is your prof. If you want an easy A, go elsewhere.

Prof. Licata is a masterful teacher, he took this 40 something student (me)now 50, and taught me how to communicate through writting. His curriculm was brutal. I was able to pass the state english test with confidence. I remember his teachings and utilize them every day. I teach his lessons to my six children and two grands. Clone him!

Prof. Licata is an excellent teacher. He knows his material very well and is easily understood. I recommend taking his class if you want to learn.

Licata is great! He helps you prepare for the final exam the 1st dat of class! Hes really nice and funny and offers you extra help if you need it. He also teaches you the correct way to write college essays and documented essays. Hes the teacher to take!

This class is easy as long as you do EXACTLY what you're supposed to. It's not a lot of work, but it must be done perfectly. I do recommend this teacher, he's good.

Professor Licata is amazing. I had taken his class last semester and am taking 1102 with him this semester. I have learned so much from him. Take this professor if you are majoring in anything that requires great writing skill. This mans knowledge will prove invaluable.

I took his online cont.Lit class and actually learned a lot.It was based on the Holocaust so it was rather interesting.You have to write four 3/4 pg papers on books/movies but I love writing so I found it enjoyable that he went that route instead of tests/quizzes.There are also discussion postings that you have to keep up with. Overall,good teacher

He teaches how to write correctly, Which is why he grades hard. He cares about all his students and wants things done right. He is also funny! Take him if you want to learn. His class is so awesome that I'm taking him again! He has so much to offer I spend as much time with him as I can outside the classroom as well. A brilliant man.

He grades hard, but he gave my class several chances to fix things. If you're competent and actually try to do well on the papers, you usually will. The only reason I got a B is because I slacked off a little. He doesn't expect everyone to be perfect writers, but he does expect you to do your best. Its great prep for Comp 2.

The best english professor ever. I took him this summer and he was great I wish I could take him for fall as well but his class is completely full...that sucks for me. He really helps improve your writing skills and works with those who struggle more than the average person. He is also really cool and funny so take it from me his class is great!!

He is soo funny!!! He is really tough though, but he has this cute little assistant and she helps with everything except grammar mistakes. She helped me with my research paper! It was because of her that I passed his class! I think her name is Sara? Well anyway, take him because Sara will make his class a breeze.

He is super sarastic, but makes the class very interesting. Hey often greets the class with "Howdy, Howdy!" My favorite. Not many essays, however he is very precise. Make sure to pay attention so you do not make any mistakes....And do not use YOU in your essays!!Overall he is a good teacher and fairly easy.

Was an excellent professor to take for an online class. Was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions even the dumb ones.His projects and papers are very precise so if you have questions ask AS soon as possible before the due date. If you try hard and if you communicate you will do fine in his class. He is a great teacher.I'd recommend him

Dr. Licata, I owe him so much, he picked me up on ENC 1101 from a point where my writing was a true disaster to a stage now i am arguably writing lit. analysis and research paper and such. English is my second language and I am truly pleased with his teachings. Forget about lazy students do the work,at the end you will see how much he changed you.

He's a pretty great professor! I enjoyed his class, the first paper I didn't do too well on, but he gave me a chance to bring the grade up and told me what to fix and I stayed on track since. He's straight-forward and pretty funny. Loved the in class discussions.

I first took Dr.Licata in the spring 2010. And when choosing a professor for comp II,I chose him once again. He is very wise.He provoked me to improve my writing.He is very sarcastic & but not in a rude way.He is very much flexible to meet 1 on 1 if one has problems understand something.Only 3 papers to write.Plenty of time to write them.

I took Dr Licata for CompI&II, he is an excellent teacher. He's very funny while teaching and will help you all the way and explain until you undestand. The class will improve your writting. He gives a lot of extra credit points and attendance is 10% of your grade. He's extremely clear about what he wants to be done so just follow the guidline :)

Really awesome teacher. He does about 5 to 6 essays over the whole semester and he is so funny. At first he seems a little sarcastic but after a few classes he warms up. One of the best teachers I have had. He barely uses the books and even if he does you can look up the stories online. :)

It is hard to use these sights as the ratings are based on grades the writer gets. Take this teacher. Go to every class. What he knows will help you in every class. It is not his way or no way like one post stated it is what the style, in this case MLA dictates. I have not received my grade yet but it will be what I earned. Very Fair!

great teacher you will learn a lot

I have taken him for Comp I and Multimedia Lit and he is one of my favorites! He has a great sense of humor and can be very sarcastic but I like sarcastic. I have learned so much from him and plan on taking Comp II with him.

You have to do alot of work in this class, the papers can be quite difficult and maybe boring. I really enjoyed the professor! He is so funny and entertaining to the whole class! If you want to laugh and have a good time, choose him. But there will be a lot of work to do. If I can take him again I will even if I have to work harder than usual.

Great English teacher! I learned so much in his class. He cares more about making sure you understand the material than forcing you to write essays blindly. I took him for 1101 AND 1102. Wish VCC offered a creative writing class with him and I would take him again!!

Dr. Licata is quite an interesting professor. His class is not easy and focuses more on Literature than it does on the Holocaust, even though the works studied are on the Holocaust. He is very fair, grades tough but what you get, in my estimation....you earn. Many chances to improve. He's a great teacher, no doubt and his interest level shows!

This is a genuinely wonderful professor. This is not an easy A class by any means but he actually wants to teach and the students actually have to try. If you want to learn, take his class.

Dr. Licata is a very passionate professor. He is extremely knowledgeable as vell as very helpful in all aspects of this class. Between his office hours and email he has very easy access for questions. This class is not an easy A. If u attend class regularly and ask questions there is no reason u cant have an A. By far my best collegiate professor.

I took Dr. Licata back in Summer 2012. He has a pretty good sense of humor which makes class fun. Many have said that his grading is pretty tough and that is true, though he does offer up chances to make corrections and resubmit. Though that may be frusrating at the time, I have noticed a huge improvement with my papers in later classes.

I absolutely hated to write before this class. Dr Licata set clear expectations and provided great feedback. Now I do not dread writing a paper as much.

Professor Licata is the best English professor I have ever had. I use what he taught me for every paper I write in school, even to this day. The class is not terribly hard but you have to put some effort into your papers. He is strict but it helps with your writing. I received an A on every paper and he made me feel very competent. I recommend him!

Dr. Licata is a very though grader. However, his classes are awesome. I had a lot of fun and learned a l lot. There's not a lot of homework, but he pays attention to detail, so do you best. I really recommend you take him!

I loved him ! Dry humor, but I thought he was funny. His instructions are VERY clear. They're 3 papers and he demonstrates exactly how he wants them. A LOT of people complain on how hard he grades but I think if you can take instruction well, then you'll do fine. I got a B in ENC 1101 and an A in ENC 1102. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

This is a teacher who makes you work. He doesn't let you stay in your comfort zone, and pushes you better yourself and writing skills. I was a little frustrated with this at first, but he is very will to give extra help as you need it. Quite funny as well, lots of dry humor.

I loved Professor Licata! I took him back in 2012 and I thought he was hilarious, witty, and easy to get along with. Be to class on time, bring in your work on time (he is slightly lenient) and ask for help when needed! I recommend him.

Teaches useful and interesting stuff. Engaging lecturer. Gets on your level. Pushes people to participate. Lots of opportunity for extra credit and redemption. Picky grader, but only about logistics. If you pay attention to the details about structure and framework......the composition.....then you're golden. Gives above average feedback.
