This course is a piece of cake, he's the easiest professor at WSU
Has great history stories that make it very easy to remember the material
Interesting lectures, even for me who hates history. SI sessions great!
Great Prof, makes info clear and easy to understand, Highly Recommend
Very easy, entertaining, knows material, not afraid to speak mind

easiest tests, and easy on the make-ups.
Very easy class.... but very very boring teacher...
Lockhart is the best lecturing professor I've ever had.
Good at what he does...if you want help, usually he'll give it to you.
Very good at HST 102. It's his specialty.

LISTEN UP FOLKS!!!! A kick ass prof. even if he does smoke outside the buildings with his TA. DEFINITLY take Lockhart!

Coolest prof of all time! This guy will keep you lauging!
He gives extra credit to raise you an entire letter grade. anyone can get an A! i hate history but enjoy the class
Great Guy
I got an A and I didn't go to class. He puts the notes on his website so you don't have to. Best history prof to take.

Burrps alot!
easy history class. hates when you talk though so don't! don't even buy the book, lectures are pretty much all you need, plus they're online!

Excellent lecturer, laid back, quite possibly the best history professor at Wright State. As long as you attend the supplemental sessions before the tests, you'll do great.
he is a great prof. by far the best history prof on campus. take his class if u possibly can.
Very funny teacher. Knows everything about european history, very intelligent. I highly recommend him. Gives extra credit and curves the test..don't buy the book.
Way informative, fun and looks like Peter Jackson. Tests are as easy as they should be, just get the review sheet and you've got yourself an A.
I came out of this class with a good grade, and a working knowledge of all things Tolkien. I can speak Elvish now!! Must be nice to have all the checks from those movies, must be why he's such a nice guy. Wonder if I can get his autograph...
Good coverage of material, morbid sense of humor made class enjoyable. Hates talkers, and gives them the death stare. Best history prof around, for GE requirements. Very helpful with review sessions and SI sessions as well.
He is such a good professor. Take him! He is really fun. Really wants you to learn.
lets put it this way, he hates when students get up and leave in the middle of his class, however the more students that left the more answers to test questions he gave us.
good prof, turn your cell phones off and dont expect to get signed in to the class....he wont do it. take him rather than any other prof if you can.
Great teacher. He really knows his stuff. He can even tell you the stuff that isnt in your text book to make the subject fun and interesting. Excellent teacher. Be prepared for very little work in class. Only 3 exams in HST 102.
He is the only teacher to have for history. By far the best
Material is hard if you take him for an upper level class. Took him for gen ed required class and think he's the greatest, but for upper level they are hard. Make sure you are interested in subject for upper level classes.
Great history prof. Makes things easy (if you show up for lectures) and very interesting. I highly recommend him
Great Prof!
I thought I was taking Rel 102 rather than HST 102 the way this prof. taught it. Too much lecture on Catholic vs. Protestant with little emphasis on other aspects of history. Still an easy A.
lecture seems to last forever and is very boring. very dry sense of humor, and his voice defintely gets annoying. takes class very seriously and has zero tolderance for talking or cell phones. not the kind of guy you would ever want to know personally.
Lockhart is a down to earth type teacher, which always makes a class easier to be in, especially a class of this size, and he gets straight ot the point, and he has a sense of humor, keeps people into the class
awesome proff.....he hates it when people get up and leave in the middle of class. make sure you have those cell phones on silent. you don't need to buy the book.
Very nice class, made history fun and humorous.
This class was sooo boring! I cant stand when in the middle of class he stares straight into the crowd and says, "Are ya done?" He can't stand for people to talk. It gets annoying. Tests are largely based in book, lecture, and notes and the
Great, easy, straight forward professor
awesome proff....study and you will be fine...You dont even need to by the book...One rule dont dare talk in class, or leave you cell phone on...he gives you the stare....he hates it when people get up and leave in class...
Did an excellent job; thought provoking, yet clear and fair. I highly suggest Prof. Lockhart.
Not a bad professor. Tests are easy if you study review sheet, but make sure to read the book too because some of the questions come from it. Hates it when people talk in class or talk on cell phones, will stop in the middle of lecture and stare at you.
Not a bad guy. I only attended about 3 lectures all quarter and made out with a B. Im sure if you were to attend all lectures, its an easy A.
HE IS EASY! JUST GO TO THE REVIEWS AND YOU WILL BE FINE!!!
Good lecturer, makes material interesting. Review sheet for tests and the study session helped me get A's on all the tests. If you have the time take advantage of them.
Great speaker in class. As long as you take notes and learn the stuff on the study guide, you'll fly trough the class. Minimal out of class work time.
I had 2 put hot b/c what he said the first day of class winter quarter! Great guy--Take notes on lecture & u can do w/o the book! Do the reveiw sheets...they are like gold for his exams! Funny guy, h8s when people talk...doesn't mind if ur late!!!
Everytime he stops and gives people the Hulk Hogan stare down, I laugh. other than that, he is a good professor. Take him
Very clear and easy teacher. Attend class and go to the review sessions before tests, they are extremly helpful. Good speaker, but a real jerk if you leave class early.
EASY EASY!!! Just go to class and the review sessions. TRUST ME... I GOT A"S on every test, and I have never been a stright a student.
Very good teacher! very clear and willing to help! Go to lecture and do review sheet/ go to study session and ull do fine!
Great teacher...funny and very thorough with material. Tests are relatively easy if you study and read the book.
Awesome professor and knew what he was talking about and he presented it clearly and with a lot of detail which helped the studying. Dont' buy the book because I never used it, just for the maps on the first test. Test are easy if you study the study guid
Overall a very enjoyable class to be a part of. Very blunt, sometimes sarcastic.
Lockhart is the bomb, he is not hard if you pay attention in class.
Great history teacher. Don't miss a class, and don't forget to make use of review sheet. The book is needed because some things on review sheet are not in the notes.
Take him. He gives views of the subjects that you usually can't find elsewhere. Oh and don't leave early (which is rude anyways!)
gives a conserative view of history, which is rare at this university. One word of adivice dont leave early or talk in class.
Easy tests, I hardly went to class and got an A, read the book and you'll be fine. He is funny and enjoyable though if you want to attend.
This is the best history professor at WSU hands down.
Great teacher, but dont leave during the middle of class or he'll stop talking and wait for you to leave with a dirty look on his face.
Great Teacher!
Lockhart is cool. Just don't talk during class or he will stop the lecture, give your a dirty look then, after you shut-up, go right back to the lecture.
great professor.
Best history teacher ever! told history in story (gossip)format, and that helped me remember the dates and information and his TA was the best also. TAKE HIM, if he is not teaching then JUST WAIT for him to come back.
best history teacher @ wsu
I had Lockhart for 101 & 103- I liked him much better the second time around. He has a bit of a temper, but is quite humorous.. has a sarcastic wit. If you go to class and take good notes, you'll do fine in his classes.
VERY BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is really funny. His lectures can be long, but he always let us out 25 mins. early. He makes them a little more enjoyable. You have one essay over a book, but it's not hard. Each test he gives you a study guide and doesn't ask anything that's not on it.He also has a study session before test and his TA will tell u what u need to know.Fairly easy A.
Easy A, go to the review sessions before the exam. The TA gives you all the info that youll need. Lectures are okay, but sometimes boring!
Very easy, don't buy book you don't need it
Dr. Lockhart is a very fair and easy professor. Although the material can be difficult and detailed, he makes his tests very fair. Even though they are all essay questions, everyone can do well on them. Although his lectures can be boring at times, overall he is great. I strongly recommend him, he's one of the better teachers in the HST department.
Dr. Lockhart is the best HST prof I've had. Material is pretty dry, but he has a great speaking voice that makes you pay attention. Tests mostly from lecture, but review sessions help too. Gave us extension on paper. Very nice man.
The tests are very very hard. He does curve them, but not enough. You must go to every class and be able to take verbal notes.
Lockhart is very funny, but also very boring! His test are very hard, and his extra credit assignment was rediculous! Not an easy class. Easy D!
Great teacher! Keeps things alive with a morbid sense of humor. If you get his for a large class he'll just base your grade off of the tests. Just don't talk or leave for no reason.
I have said before how some teachers are really excellent but no instructor not one is half as amazing as Prof Lockhart. He loves his job loves the subject, and his passion for history is only comparible to his abilitys to story tell. He doesnt lecture, however he tells the stories of those who came before us he illistrates for us there lifes. Amaz
He was Mean!
Lockhart was easy, but I think that's because he came into class **** half the time. I'd take him over the other history profs, though. At least he was entertaining.
good guy, teaches the class like its a story and like you're really there so that makes it easier. tests are a little hard if you dont go to the review sessions
Very entertaining class. Guy really knows his stuff.
Great Teacher! Wish I needed more of what he teaches, but I don't. Otherwise I would be taking him again.
He is really easy because he gives you most of the material thats on the test. I never need to read the book, i just go to lecture to get all the notes. He can be really dry and boring, but its an easy A.
Fun class easy to listen and be interested if you like history, and I don't care one way or the other. Tests are somewhat tricky, but not bad.
it helps to read the book he does try to make the class as interesting as possible.
All you need to do is take notes in his class. Don't bother buying the textbook because you won't need it. Tests are multiple choice and fairly easy. He is actually interesting too in lecture so you won't get bored too often. Very refreshing.
This man examplifies everything a history teacher should be. Presented material in a easy-to-understand and often hilariously sarcastic form. Provides plenty of opprotonities for extra credit, but you won't need them as long as you pay attention during lectures. Do whatever you have to in order to get him for your history class.
He was very funny in class, and because we had such a big class we didn't have to write a paper for this class!!! Make sure you get the big class with like 90 students.
# tests, thats it, final not cumulative, pure lecture, hour and a half class, fairly easy if you study
easy class if you do the right things. i never went to class and just went to the review sessions that were offered before each test. you get everything that you need to know for the test. only 3 exams, no papers, easy a.
Dr. Lockart knows his material. However does not teach well at all. If you plan to take him you HAVE to attend class daily in order to get a decent grade. Not my favorite professor
the class was not that hard...u should attend class not a muct but a should!! the curves on the test are great!!!! just study the note ans u should be fine!!!
Dr. Lockhart is great. Yes, you do have to attend class, but you should anyways, or why pay for the class? If you come to class everyday, go over your notes and look up anything on the review sheet you missed in your notes, you should do great. He really knows his subject, and he's very funny. He doesn't tolerate ppl making noise though.
Excellent teacher, very well organized, good use of class time, interesting lectures. Lays down exactly what you need to do well in the class. I was most impressed with his professionalism, as he was going through a difficult time in his personal life while teaching Spring 08, but that did not affect his teaching at all.
great!
easy A or B. I got an A and didn't go to class. I just went to all the review sessions and that was it! I think a lot of that was thanks to my TA telling us exactly what to look at.
Dr. Lockhart is a really knowledgable history professor. You can miss some classes and still get an A. Lecture is kind of long, he just goes through his powerpoints but generally ends early. He gives you topical study guide and as long as you know a decent amount of each item, you should be able to get an A. B is probably the grade most often given
Good teacher, he makes it clear what you need to know for the 3 tests. You need to make sure to take notes over his lecture not just what is on the slides. You will have to study some to get a good grade. His tests are all cause and effect questions so be prepared.
He really knows what he is talking about. If you don't take notes and read the book you will not do well. He has very interesting lectures. I would recommend his class.
Very hard to follow at times. You definately have to use your book and take good notes. The test are pretty straight forward just make sure you STUDY! I reccommend sitting towards the front because he is hard to hear/understand at times.
A great teacher
I really dont like history, BUT, he tells history like a story. Not just endless names and dates but he tells a story while doing it. Great teacher, if u need a GE course, take it.
Dr. Lockhart makes class interesting. He cracks a few jokes and is a pretty laid-back professor. Know every term on the review sheets and you will ace his tests. Don't talk in class. Oh, and you don't really need the book. If you listen to him in clas and go to the review sessions, it is still easy to get an A.
Excellent professor. Laid back. Makes the lecture feel more like an interesting one-sided conversation.
he is a really good teacher and knows what he is talking about. You want to be at every class if possible to take the notes. His power points are just the topic he will discuss and he goes in greater detail in class. There are 3 exams that are easy, no homework and you can write an extra credit paper over a book of your choice. Over great teacher!
He is so hard. His exams are impossible and he is no help during his office hours
Lectures can be long but the class is easy B if not better. Just study lecture notes, gives study guide and offers review.
He is a great professor. Makes the class somewhat interesting. Tests are not hard just use the study guide.
I took him for 102-3. I showed up for the 1st class to get the syllabus. I then didn't show up again until the tests. Just go to all the after-hours review sessions, and the TAs will go over every single thing on the test. Study that = easy A.
The absolute worst professor I have ever had. Useless during office hours, when you asked for help he referred you to the TA who was also useless. Study guides had nothing to do with the notes, test had nothing to do with the study guide. Re took this class with another professor and got an A.
His tests are not the easiest thing in the world. You have to read the text to pass them. Otherwise he's a good professor super funny and tries to make it interesting to everyone.
Absolutely LOVED this class. Lockhart is the best teacher I've ever had! I hate history, but the way he lectures, it's extremely interesting. Go to his lectures and write down as much as you can (laptops help a lot)! His lectures are where the tests come from. I aced this class and I am not one to do so well. I recommend him to everyone!!!
This is by far the best history class I have ever taken! I am not over exaggerating when I say I absolutely despised History class during school and college, but Dr.Lockhart changed all that! I loved attending class, and he made the material so enjoyable! But be sure to go to class as testing is mostly from lecture. Highly recommended!
I absolutely hated History as a subject before taking this class but Dr.Lockhart changed all that!he is by far one of the greatest professors I have ever had.He really cares about his students and will help you any way he can. Make sure to attend class and take notes as tests are mostly from lecture (lectures are highly interesting)Recommended!
Great teacher! Enjoyed the class. Brought the topic to life. Very into what he teaches, and has the background to back it up.
VERY GOOD AND WELL DETAILED LECTURES. NOTES ALWAYS ARE UP ON PILOT. STUDY GUIDES AT LEAST A WEEK BEFORE THE TEST
Professor Lockhart's class is really easy if you know how to use Wikipedia. Barely went to class didn't buy the book, averaged above 80% on the tests. If you don't like history, take this guy's class.
Three tests that make up grade and I only went to class on those test days and still got a B. study guides on pilot and just research terms. Great class
This class way by far one of the most interesting and easiest classes I have taken to date. Pay attention in class because some of the things he says aren't on the power point. Use the study guide he provides for class and it should be an easy A. Offers extra credit. This class really got me into history and history is my least favorite subject.
I hate history, but Prof. Lockhart made it interesting! You do need to go to class for notes, as tests are lecture-based, and PowerPoints are unhelpful. Your grade is calculated on three tests (30%, 30%, 40%), and he counts your highest test grade for the 40%. He offers extra credit and is willing to help. Highly recommended.
Tests are lecture based, never used the book. Class was not mandatory but he lectured in great detail so it was easy to miss something.
Im not a history person at all, but Lockhart made it interesting. DO NOT study the PPTs or online notes- only listen to his lectures + do the study guide. Of the 3 tests, your highest score is worth 40%, then the others are worth 30% each. For someone who studies a lot, I had a 79% for a final grade. After the EC paper + an email, he gave me an A.
Avoid. He is condescending and rude.
He was not very helpful and going to his class is a waste of time because you will eventually read what he tells you. His tests are nothing like what is on the study guide. Everyone failed our midterm. I would not recommend him.
Easy class and very fun. All you have to do is pay attention and you are golden. I didn't open the book much. Everything is in his notes. He had a good attitude and his class was enjoyable.
He's a very nice guy! He can seem a little indifferent but he really does care about how his students do. 8 am history isn't very fun but he does make the class interesting. I would definitely recommend!
TAKE HIM! Really good professor! I wasn't motivated to learn this subject at all but he can make something so boring very interesting! Can tell he's very passionate about what he teaches. Class isn't mandatory but helps if you attend. I only studied the night before tests for a couple hours and aced them. Also offers an extra credit assignment.
Probably the worst professor I've ever had. His monotone voice sounds terrible, especially at 8 a.m. He just talks and talks and doesn't really explain anything and seems condescending. Super boring class, do not recommend him at all. And even though I hated the class, I still got an A, and I only studied the day before.
Lockhart showed me that I made the right decision to be a history major. He is extremely passionate about his lectures and goes into great detail while keeping things exciting. It was my morning class, but was refreshing to have such exciting and enjoyable lectures. Offers extra credit and drops lowest quiz score. Absolutely would take again!
I loved having Dr. Lockhart as a teacher!! He makes lectures so interesting and easy to understand. He really knows what he is talking about and appreciates students that talk to him outside of class during his office hours. Powerpoint's are posted online, and grading for tests and quizzes is all multiple choice. Wish I could have him again!
Given an army the man could conquer. His knowledge of military history knows no bounds.
This was my first college class since retiring from active duty in 2015. Mr. Lockhart has an amazing sense and grasp of history, time flies as he lectures and pulls you into the moment. Completely accessible and accommodating to students. Just an amazing professor. HIGHLY recommended.
Paul is my dude, He's very passionate about what he teaches and everything is online and you don't have to come to class but it really helps if you do.
Taking Dr. Lockhart's class was incredible! Dr. Lockhart really does know his material and is very passionate about History. It amazes me on how he is so passionate. Exams are mostly where the grades revolve around. Exams were online and you could use notes that you took prior! Must take notes every time you go to class!!!
Professor Lockhart is quite obviously very passionate and knowledgable about his material. I would say the lectures aren't very engaging, so you must be motivated to pay attention. He offers one extra credit project, which will boost you a letter grade if you receive a good score. Otherwise, a very nice and goofy professor.
Five quizzes, a midterm, and final is the whole class. The exams are kinda hard and such a big part of the grade but you can do extra credit to get up to 2 letters higher. Lectures are pretty boring but he dumbs it down and its easy to understand.
BEST lecturer EVER - can't stress it enough. Dr L explains clearly & includes all the awesome material. Very personable, very hilarious. Get ready to hear abt cats eating pretzels&a watch speaking Danish. Even if history's not yr thing, he'll make u love this class. Extra credit via repeatable txtbk quizzes. Mult choice tests on basic lecture info.
Not the best History Professor. All he does is post lecture videos and write small news posts. The only assignments are 6 quizzes, a midterm and a final. They are pretty brutal. And don't even think about asking him questions. If you email him a question, he will berate you for even asking, since he MIGHT have talked about it for 5 sec in a lecture
Want an A on a paper you wrote last minute, with a fever? Take Lockhart. He really knows his stuff & can explain it at any level. Great sassy lectures, simple assignments, easy A's. Sometimes he's hard to email, and seems scary. But he's really a softhearted guy who's always understanding & willing to help you learn. Excellent prof F2F & online.
Loved his class so much! I didnt like the history itself but he made the class so interesting. I recommend going to class because he goes into detail about the slides. Only weekly quizzes and exams. All quizzes and exams online. Need a history class or elective? Take him!!!!
He was a great professor and person. He is one professor on this campus that cares for his students and is understanding. He gives lots of chances for extra credit and help you prepare for tests. My one thing his to take plenty of notes that way you can do great on the tests.
My favorite professor at Wright State. I've taken at least 5 classes with him and I've thoroughly enjoyed every one of them. Very knowledgeable and clearly has a passion for history. Very understanding and supportive of students with disabilities.
Though there are many lecture videos and chapters to read, Dr. Lockhart is extremely knowledgeable and goes into detail. Some of his lectures had me cracking up. Emails were answered quickly. The midterm and final were pretty brutal- even with the study guide and reviewing all material he provided. Do the extra credit!! Great Professor!
Professor Lockhart's lectures are engaging, and he's very knowledgeable. While the exams can be challenging, using resources like unstuck ai along with the textbook and study guides really helps. Overall, an interesting class worth taking.
Elite professor. I would recommend him to anyone, especially if you are studying history. Plus, he is hilarious. . . "Hi Folks. . ."
Lockhart is a hilarious and engaging lecturer that really made me enjoy revisiting this period of history. Offers good extra credit opportunities and resources. Quiz and exam questions are generally well written, and the tests being open note made it much less stressful for me. It was a pleasant surprise to find a genuinely interesting hst prof
