He's an extraordinarily brilliant scientist and therefore, a simply amazing lecturer. He cares an immense amount about the student's comprehension of the material, a concept which is lost on almost every professor I've had at Stony Brook (and I'm a senior). He is a true role model for me.

Wouldn't take again

I took BIO38 because the bio advisors at SBU said it would be an easy A and they totally lied. This class was so hard for no reason. The material and lectures made sense and the practice exam questions they gave were okay but nothing like the real exam questions. Respondus was used and no backtracking which was really bad. Dont take this class

If you don't watch the lectures you will not pass this class. The textbook is written by him and the lectures are very consistent with the assigned readings. There is an abundance of test prep on blackboard and as long as you pay attention, its an easy class, just ALOT of information

He scaffolds history, social psychology, and some politics from simple Biological Principles. This course is good for people outside of hard-STEM, but does require a decent grasp of evolution and note taking/reviewing material. An easy A for me, who greatly enjoyed the lectures and material. Why are Humans unique, and how did we get there?

Prof Bingham's class will change the way you look at history, evolution, human behavior and the world in general. Fascinating lectures. It's not required you attend but you definitely should for a decent grade and to learn the material (it's awesome).

Engaging lectures that challenge your perspective. Textbook optional, but attendance is key for a solid grasp of the material. unstuck study was a game-changer for exam prep.

found this course disappointing and inappropriate. Rather than focusing on biology, the professor used class time to push personal political views, often in offensive and one-sided ways. The class lacked objectivity, and I would not recommend it to students seeking respectful, unbiased instruction.
