good teacher. But puts you to sleep...but his little jokes will wake you up
awesome professor
puts you to sleep kinda fast, easy on the marking thou
Diego loved your class.
Worst lectures, boring monotone voice. Read power points, put me to sleep,
If you can stay awake, you'll come out with some good info.
mono tone.... it's really tuff to stay awake in this class.
clear and helpful
very boring..monotone voice, better off staying at home or redoing the course
Most helpful prof I have ever had. Wants the students to succeed!
He is really ignorant to all the people in his class- extremely boring lectures
The best prof at Ryerson. Cares about his students and his subject. Great job!
clear lectures
who cares that he's monotone, he's great
sarcastic, knows a lot
Course is hard but prof is good
not his fault that micro sucks
104 is good
very clear and helpful
Monotone voice. Prepare to fall asleep within 5 minutes of entering class
who needs sleep clinics? go to this class and youve got yourself a cure!!
fun and nice
Classes make the tests much easier.
Zzzzzz... Boring material and a monotone voice. Nice guy, tho. And a pretty good teacher. Just boring lectures.
He was an okay teacher, but it was impossible to go to his class because you would fall asleep within 10 minutes...He turns the lights off, and talks in a monitone voice, so drink coffee!!
Advice....If you got him early in the morning make sure you've had a cup of coffee cause you'll be put to sleep during his classes. Best advice is go in if your actually feeling good in the morning cause he posts all the lectures on his site.
He's really really smart and if you can actually stay awake to listen to him....it's really helpful. But he's sooooooooo boring!
He's alright I guess. Boring is the key factor here. But at least he's not an a$$hole. he makes jokes and stuff.
BOOOOOOORING!
Nicest guy ever......but man he puts you to sleep. And his tests are brutal
Extremely knowledgable, and approachable professor. Tests are quite hard, however all multiple choice.
Aww What a nice guy. I hope he sees this site. You're the man! hehehe
I wish I had read all this sooner. I totally fell asleep in ALL the lectures, except one. I should've had coffee! And yeah his voice is totally monotone. I wish he could read my stories so I can quickly fall asleep at night when I have sleepless nights!
I had his class at 8 in the morning, and it was hard to stay awake. Even though his tests were multiple choice, they were really hard and confusing. Very nice prof though, and his jokes were funny.
I thought he was pretty good. He always makes little jokes and then laughs at them. I cant say he was boring though because the lecture was at 8:00 am
He could put anyone into a coma...switch to Kam's class.
He knows what he's talking about but he is SO VERY boring.
one word... BORING!!! horrible prof... no one even attends his lectures.. like... 30 out of 100 sumthing??? his voice is like a drug... it puts u to sleep and u'll nvr be able to wake up... couldnt even follow his lectures
Very knowledgable and helpful. Tests are tricky but fair. He is kind of boring but if you pay attention in class and follow his notes, you will get a good mark.
way bettr than tub the barber-iero
He knows what he is talking about... However, lectures are impossible to stay awake even if you are interested! His tests are so hard, be prepared to get your butt kicked everytime.
super boring classes, very hard/tricky assignments n tests, impossible to get good marks n stay awake in classes
IF you get this professor you might as well stay home and read the textbook because that's where all his lectures come from. He's a nice guy, but the tests are hard. Make sure you study EVERYTHING cuz it's all multiple choice.
his lectures are so very boring, i only attended three of them.
This guy is a joker.. He makes funny jokes and is a pretty easy teacher.. Tests are very tricky though. but bell CURVES a lot
If you do lots of practise you can get a 95% in this course. His tests are all multiple choice and a lot like the gradesummit practise questions. Also he bell curves and is a very nice and helpful person. My favorite first year teacher.
Tests are worded the same and the exam, just read over the text book and getting a B is a joke.
He is a very boring teacher, his tests are very hard and all multiple choice.. do the gradesummit questions and you will be fine. The only good thiing about him its that he always bell CURVES if the class average is low..
a VERY VERYY VERYY boring prof and very unclear..cant stress on that more, his tests are multiple choice but very difficult, he doesnt teach the concepts clearly at all, and his teaching style is so bad, ull fall asleep..
puts me to sleep. that's why i had to retake this goddamn course.
He know what he's talking about but he really can't teach. I have absolutely what he's talking about in class at all and the test are hard. Keeping falling asleep in his class which I ended up dropping the course and have to take it over again.
Great prof! Just go to the lectures & use his lecture notes. The book is only good for doing practice problems. He also makes the 3 hour lecture a 2 hour lecture, with a 10 minute break! Really cool in person too, i.e. interested in the student successfully completing ECN801, not sure for the sake of taking it.
good prof but i like ones that give me A
took kam and failed. took missios and passed.
this guy knows less about intl trade than me
He's a good guy but a very confused guy!!..If u're gunna take his class make sure ur a very patient person cuz he's lost most of the time!!
Boring!
omg this prof is really boring.
This professor was very confused. He did not know his material and was unsure about things. THe powerpoints have tons of mistakes intehm which he does not fix. All tests are multiple choice but are reallly tricky and hard and requires long time to think.
Seemed like he was out of it a lot of the time, however he definitely knew his stuff. I guess cause it was an 8 AM lecture so he was half asleep. Midterms (2) and assignments were pretty decent. The final was the hardest exam i have ever written. Advice: Kill the midterms and assignments cause the final will screw u over.
Boring... Bring Laptop for Class... and a quarter for MC final, flip it... the the test was on "textbook text", not ecn theory...
BOOORINGGG...fell asleep numerous times in his class...maybe b/c it wus at 8am...but still, his voice made me drowsy...midterms were easy but the exam wus tough, atleast for me.
Paul is a fair prof.I am about to take his exam and he posted the approx amount of questions that will come from each chapter plus he posts previous exams along with their solutions. I must admit though he is a very boring prof which makes it hard to sit through his lectures.
I like him, tho he puts me to sleep every single lecture, but i don't blame him...not his fault that the content he teaches is too dry :P
Really hard to understand during lectures, but super nice guy. He means well, but if you do all your readings and on-line assignments you will be fine.
Nothing for you in lectures, nearly impossible to pay attention. However, nice prof, knows his stuff, is there to help students, genuinelycares about his students, posts things online, mock midterms and exams great, good textbook.
The best Micro prof you can take... posted old midterm and final on blackboad and both had quite a few of the exact same questions... a little boring class but make sure you read the textbook. Paul Missios-THE BEST
I liked him. Not the most exciting in class but he is clear and helpful. He tries hard to give you everything you need to do well, like practice tests and assignments, detailed information on the test material, etc. He tries hard to get you to pass and cares about what he teaches and how you do, which is rare at Ryerson.
Very easy course in the first place, so you probably won't be attending many lectures. Boring prof, talks monotone into the microphone and doesn't move around the lecture hall making it hard to stay awake. Multiple choice exam and midterm and is very easy if you know the material from the book.
Intro econ classes tend to be boring but Paul was an awesome prof! Yes he's kind of monotone during lectures but he also throws in funny jokes wherever possible and was really helpful with exam prep, easy to get an A.
Paul isn't an terrible prof. However, he isn't amazing. He's EXTREMELY monotone during class and has next to know enthusiam during his lecture. It's obviously not a very interesting course but he brings out the worst in it as far as boring goes. Midterm and exam were pretty hard.
as long as you attended his classes his exams were fair.
Great Professor! He is monotone, but his explanations for the class slides. Paul gives many examples to make sure students are following along. I would definitely recommend him!
I'm not sure why other people find this professor boring, but I thought that his classes were really fun and engaging. The course was relatively easy if you attend class and actually listen to him. It's truly a shame that students walk of of his class. Well, I guess that's Ryerson students for you.
Went to class and never understood a word he said. SO BORING. Failed the midterm and exam. Emailed him in regards to change my mark to a passing mark, and he didn't even reply. Said he will be "adjusting" marks.. but still no response from him.
He is montone so it's easy to fall asleep in class, but he makes sure students understand the material before moving on to something else. He was a good prof, defenitely reccomend him!
Like everyone says he definitely is monotone and will make you fall asleep. What I've learned is that his explanations are pretty on point most of the time and he will often emphasize and go in depth what he will test you. Also, if your class is in the theatre, sit in the front rows I find it easier to pay attention to him than way in the back
-He WILL put you to sleep -Read the textbook to pass the course -His explaining is very dry -Gives out past finals that are helpful -He usually bell curves which is always great!
- boring - really boring - bell curved our midterm - knows what he's talking about - read the powerpoints and textbook - midterm 40%, final 60%
If you are not planning to go to class, just take it online. I went to the first lecture, he is very thorough in content but he speaks very monotone so I can't keep my eyes open. At least he posts a lot of practice questions and mock exams on blackboard.
He is very boring, because of his monotone voice, however it is a huge mistake to not take notes and then procrastinate in your readings. Economics is not something you can teach yourself a day before the final, so make sure you keep up with the lecture no matter how boring it is and how much your eyelids try to close.
Honestly, I taught myself everything for ECN 104. Didn't buy the textbook just reviewed chapter slides and practice questions on blackboard. Missios is a very boring professor and it is hard to stay awake and concentrate in his lectures. On top of that his midterm and final exam were pretty hard. Overall attendance is not neccessary.
Paul is a great guy! Not his fault the content is so boring. A midterm worth 40% and a final worth 60%. Midterm was straightforward, final killed me. Praying for a massive bell curve, my gpa depends on it. Attendance isn't really mandatory, just read the book and do the practice questions he posts up on Blaclboard.
boring class, attendance not mandatory, dont buy textbook. he gives you practice questions thats a good way to learn the material. midterm and exam was brutal but dont be stupid and drop the course after failing the midterm by few % because he bell curves like crazy for thethe exam, thought i failed the course but ended up with a good grade.
Class was a bit dull, although subject content is a large factor in that. I found his lectures helpful but not very engaging. Posts lots of chapter questions and past midtermsfinals which are extremely useful and relevant. Could try to involve students more during class.
Very boring lectures. Felt like sleeping after half an hour. Very confusing. Didnt explain material very well. Mid term and exam were pretty easy and he bell curved too. Ppt slides are all you need forget the textbook
I only went to one lecture (the first lecture) and I had already fell asleep to the sound of his monotone voice. Extremely boring prof, I couldn't deal with it so I just learned off his PowerPoint slides and practice questionsmidtermsexams. I did not buy the textbook and I never went to class, got an A-, Missios bell curves A LOT.
One of the best in terms of clarity. His notes were enough to understand economics from mathematical perceptive. Until his class I always memorized economics from the behavioral perspectives. But this class clearly gave me crystal clear answer of basic economics theory and models. Very good professor as well. Right to the point and no confusion all
Seems like a great guy, but his lectures were very confusing and tedious, he'd spend a long time on most slides, and sitting in the theatre seats for 3 hours was brutal.
Monotone. Seriously bring a pillow because you are guaranteed to fall asleep 40min into class
His lecture notes are quite lengthy but they're extremely helpful. However, he doesn't post them on BB. The class average was somewhere in the 50s for the midterm but he was nice enough to boost everyone's mark by 10%. You don't need to go to class if you can practice all the sample questions from past midterms and finals that he posts on BB.
The course itself is not easy, so you can't expect him to be "an easy marker", however he explains the mathematical side of the course really well. I would have probably failed if I relied on the textbook for that. The classes are pretty dry but I could imagine it would be difficult to make this kind of material interesting or engaging. Good guy
WHAT A GUY! Hes amazing
Great lectures, great guy, and extremely helpful! Got an A+ in the course (im neither econ major nor minor). Beware of one thing: calculus. Most people would struggle here but it's nothing practice can't make you good at! My only suggestions: Ask questions, take notes and practice!
If you aren't coming into this with a heavy economics background, do not skip this class!
He is a good prof, but spends way too much time on certain slides, and always goes back and forth. The class is highly boring as he talks for the 3 hours.
Loved him! His midterms and finals were exactly like the ones he provided. With some work you can easily get an A
A+ A+ A+
Amazing Professor! STUDY OF THE PRACTICE MIDTERMS AND FINALS YOU'LL GET AN A
Great teacher.
very good professor who knows a lot and teaches well
Paul is adorable!! He bellcurved our class for sure
easy professor bell curves the class
His lectures are useful, there isn't a ton of content in this course but he tries to explain everything thoroughly. Attending lectures is important since he doesn't post notes online. His tests are somewhat similar to his sample exams in format but doing practice problems from tutorials or the textbook would be helpful. Also, he bell curves grades.
Great professor! He seems like he's in the elite division of professors at Ryerson because he is very laid back but still extremely knowledgeable. He writes everything on the board and doesn't post or use any slides, so bring a notebook and pencil to class for notes (lots of graphs). I didn't touch the textbook, focus on what he teaches in class!
Read all of the practice midterms and finals because they are very similar . Take a lot of notes because he does not post slides. I do not know if the text book is helpful because i did not use it but i came to class everyday, so it was worth it. He explains really well.
One of the best economics professors ever. Everything taught in class is tested on, none of that textbook exclusive stuff. The textbook is used in your own time if you need extra practice and another view of what is taught in class. He goes through many many examples and gives you plenty of resources before the final and midterm. 10/10 prof
missios is your man if you like a really good course that doesn't get targeted at bad students. the course is tough but he goes thru things real slow and complete. had him for first year and trade and l think he teaches really good courses.
Missios is the MAN. Explains everything thoroughly and slowly. Gives lots of practice exams for midterms and finals. He wants everyone to do well and doesn't give any trick questions. 100% would take him for every Economics class if I could.
Goes through concepts in the lecture with a ton of detail and clarity. Do not need the textbook for this class, just take notes and do the practice questions/exams. He does such a good job at simplifying the concepts so they are easy to understand. Really good lecturer and obviously passionate about the subject.
Overrated prof. Content is boring and he goes way too slow. Posts practice midterms and finals but ends up putting tricks in his actual evaluations. He doesn't seem to care about students or their success and doesn't bell curve at all. Not a good professor.
Paul Missios is a old school kind of prof. Notes for course only in class as he does not post anything online. He gives you lots of practice examinations that are like the actual tests. He is a solid professor but I feel he could do a bit of a better job teaching the content as his pacing for lectures is often to slow and leaves students unengaged.
Absolutely godlike. Assuming you aren't a wasteman and actually go to all of his classes, he teaches you everything you need to know for the exams. No need to use the textbook. If you pay attention and take good notes, do all tutorial questions, and go over his numerous past exams, this is an easy A. Would take Paul again in a heartbeat.
Good professor - uses the whole 3 hours, but you don't need to buy the textbook. Posts past exams to help study. Knows the material backwards and forwards.
Good lecturer and gives good notes but makes midterms and exams extremely hard! Don't get excited about his practice midterms and finals that he posts because half of the answers that were provided were incorrect and will screw you over and make you question EVERYTHING!
Amazing. Literally the best professor at Ryerson I've ever had.
Very good prof! But the exam is hard.
Very good professor. Makes it easy to do well on the tests and final. As long as you do all the mock tests and understand how to answer the questions that repeatedly come up you are set for at least a 90% on each exam even if you don't understand the course as a whole. Very understanding professor that makes it easy to do well if you try.
Prof Missios was great! I got an 95% on the last 2 exams just by reviewing my in class notes briefly and most importantly, doing his practice tests over and over. Honestly his practice midterms are enough to get you an A. He is also a very good at explaining concepts in lecture.
Watch out for his handwritten solutions to past midterms/exams. They are riddled with errors. The calculation steps are directionally correct, but when it comes to actually simplifying or calculating the answer, he'll mix up numbers, mix up variables, incorrectly factor/simplify, etc.
Be sure to study the lecture vids and do practice exams. I got 63.75% on midterm 1 using the textbook+practice tests, then realized the methods he taught in class differed from the textbook, and got a 99% on midterm 2 using the lecture vids+practice tests. Go to class and do your homework. ECN 504 is 30% test 1, 30% test 2, and 40% final BTW.
THE GOAT OF MICROECONOMICS
If you have to do a calculus class, do that first. This class is easier. 1) take notes on everything in class, 2) you SHOULD review those notes with his posted recordings, 3) do the short homework as practice, and 4) do at least 3 of the practice tests for each exam. Exams are very similar to the practice tests. The textbook is not needed.
This guy is great. He only tests on lectures (which he also has recordings of!) so no need for textbook. He gives a wealth of practice exams that are very similar to the exams so there aren't any surprises. Only con is no slides to quickly reference material but on the whole I'd highly recommend taking Paul
One of the best professors I had at TMU. His lectures are straightforward and very clear, making them easy to understand. To do well in this class, I would strongly recommend attending the lectures. Overall, great professor!
The only way he was able to grade us was with tests. The lectures had so much to consume and the test solutions which he gave were of no use they had so many errors. If you want to pass this course only way you could do is by giving 8-9 hours each week to understand the concept
Paul was honestly the best professor I've ever had in all my econ classes. He doesn't use any slides but he gives amazing and in-depth lectures of everything you have to know, so you have to go to class. The class is comprised of 3 tests, all of which look almost identical to past papers that he provides. Very chill and caring guy, he's amazing :)
Professor makes the concepts easy to grasp through clear lectures. Attending class and using resources like unstuck AI for practice tests are key to success. The textbook isn't needed, but go to office hours if you need extra help.
This class can get hard. The prof was great, hosted very good lectures, gives enough material to prepare, and will answer any question. Good teaching style, nice guy, and hard course but if you actually put in the work you'll do great.
Probably the best professor in the economics department
The GOAT. Taught in a very controlled and organized manner and tried to keep his students engaged even in the morning. Took the best mark out of MT and Final and swapped the weight accordingly to make your mark better. corrected issues w TA marking. Tests were straightforward and he had sample finals and practice answers. Truly the GOAT.
amazinggg prof!! his teaching style was super understandable and he made the course super easy to follow, he had amazing lecture videos that were super helpful, and he responds to emails. He's a kind and caring prof, def take him if given the chance!!
AMAZING PROF. Just do your part by attending class and doing the precise problems
I personally found the content difficult. But he gives you every opportunity to do well. Just attend class because he teaches well. He gives practice tests which are the exact same as the actual tests.
This is probably the best teacher for ECN 504. Extremely good teacher, good practice tests and a very reasonable marker. If he his teaching the course I highly recommend you take him.
