Dr. Munn is so intelligent, he makes so much sense! What a great teacher!

I took Dr. Munn 3 times; have never worked so hard in my life, but learned a great deal and am a far better writer/thinker because of him and his courses. Too many whiny students who simply want cake classes. Toughen up kiddies, the real world is waiting!

I was terrified of writing papers before his class - his methods taught me how to critically analyze the topic and successfully write a paper about it. Difficult class, yet Munn knows his stuff. Take it if you can handle it.

I took Munn once and learned more in one class than I had in my first three years of college english. He is extremely hard but it is well worth it if you want to actually learn something; which is why we are in college correct.

Be prepared to work, but if you pay attention and do what you have to, you'll get good grades. He is a hard teacher, but I learned more in this class than in any other english class.

You will learn a lot from this guy but BE prepared to work your ass of as if you were at Harvard.

Yes, the most difficult english class I have ever had, but if I wanted easy I would have stayed in high school! I know that thanks to this teacher I am writing and analyzing literature better than I ever have in my entire academic career. Best english prof. ever. Although, you gotta work.

He was very hard with grades but if you work really hard he will give you an A. But let me tell you I have never worked that hard for an A before.

One of the best english teachers I have ever had. Although he is hard, what do expect in college. If you want an easy A don't take him because it's tough class. The professor is funny though and makes learning literature easy to learn.

I have never felt so inadequate in all my life. Prof. in the past have asked to keep my papers for future classes and he is impossible to please. Be prepared to get a D!

Very hard professor!!! Do your homework and ask questions or you are screwed. The guy knows what he's talking about but expects you to work VERY hard for a 200 level course. He's fun, but be aware that you will need to work to get a B and work really hard to get an A. If you are shaky on writing skills forget it and take something else.

I managed to earn an A in Dr. Munn's class. He expects hard work, and that students will attend class and write with a grasp of the standard conventions of English. If you are looking for a class to blow off, don't take him, but if you want to actually learn something then I do recommend Dr. Munn.

Sure, Munn is tough. Munn is demanding. If you want an easy grade, don't take Munn. But ... if you want to see just how good you are ... if you think you're ready to run with the big dogs ... if you are wondering what it's really like out in the real world when it's just you and no Mommy or Daddy ... take Munn and bring your A-game. It's worth it.

The class is challenging but that's what helps you to actually walk away and feel like you learned something. Munn is very helpful if you take advantage of his advice, email and office hours.

A's are hard to get but you can get a C if you go to class and pay attention. It's not an easy class but you'll get what you pay for and you'll actually learn something along the way. He's willing to help if you're willing to put in the effort to try.

This class was the most challenging I have ever taken, but it was also the most rewarding. He is tough, but in a great way..he challenges students to do their very best. He's very helpful as well, I brought every paper into his office at least four times and he talked me through every one..Overall, his class is WELL worth it!

Great teacher and very entusiastic, but so demanding and strict in his ways, it seems like you can never do enough. Before this class, I received A's on just about every paper I have ever written. Not once did I receive anything above a B in this class. He does offer to help all the time, he encourages it, but overall, he is VERY hard to please.

This was my second semester with him, and I have a third one in the fall... someone please shoot me. He's a very nice, interesting guy, but his expectations are way too high. He teaches every course as if it is graduate level, and expects everyone to be a philosopher. He grades very harshly, so if you're not good at papers, STAY AWAY!!!

Okay, so he's a bit difficult. I've never learned so much in my life in one class. I feel like the world of literature opened up to me and I've never seen it so clearly. I highly, highly recommend that you take him if you are interested in knowing what you are doing in the field of English! Dry sense of humor, but it is there!

Munn will tell you how it is. Make sure to come up with insights that are not obvious, which is hard to do. Keep your head held up high! It is possible to pass! I would not recommend him, but I am afraid that if one is majoring in English they may end up taking him even if you do not want to.

Interesting/funny guy, but not worth the effort if you aren't obsessed with Lit, particularly poems read dramatically. This B+ is the first I've gotten. Granted, could have done better if I'd met with him to revise my drafts, but it seems unreasonable to invest so much in a 200-level. Not for those who want an easy A or have a full load and job.

The workload for this class is extreme, and the papers are rather intense, but if you can do well in his classes, you are more than set for anyone else's. If you skip class habitually, procrastinate on paper-writing or think it's okay to leave during class to use the bathroom, you'd better find someone else.

He is very serious about what he teaches. The students that complain are the ones that don't take the class seriously. Yes he grades tough, but if you listen in class and study a little, you'll be fine.

Okay so he's a hard grader, but this is college.... If you want an easy A don't take him. Also, I know many people who got Ds on papers, because they don't do what he says. If he tells you over and over again that you are making loose associations DON'T write about one in your paper! He grades realistically based on your skills, not your effort.

No, you're not going to get an A. What you will get is more learning than any SVSU prof has to offer and reading & writing skills that will benefit you the rest of your life. His knowledge & love for literature is infectious if you're tough enough to get past his rough exterior. Take Munn if you're passionate about literature, you won't regret it!

Munn is tough, but his class is worth taking!

Fascinating individual, im very curious of his nature. he changed the way i look at everything for the better. he grades for professional work. he is always there to help. i wasn't expecting to pass the class, but i was surprised that i did. im thinking about taking him a second time just for the experience he gave me.

Professor Munn is a difficult professor, but I learned more through his class than through any other yet. He pushed me to think outside the box in my analyses and helped fine-tune my writing. If other students attended office hours for papers and put more work into reading and analysis for his quizzes, they'd stand more of a chance of success.

Munn is tough but if you ask questions and try to understand his perspective you'll do well. Always talk to him about papers and send him multiple drafts, making all corrections he tells you to because trust me, he's right. If you don't know your stuff you won't pass, so study.
