This class was harder than I expected, but I learned tons from him! He was always very helpful!
Stupid, stupid man...has opinion on everything and not open to anyone elses. Test were fair, journals were very hard. Boring and obsessed w/ attendance.
His tests were very easy. Just study his notes and you'll do great. However, he grossed me out and made me feel very uncomfortable. He has this sick obsession with sexual subjects; he will stroke and lick his lips while staring straight at you and teaching.
An OK Professor. If you act responsible and professional, he'll work with you. Wish he'd make his notes more avaliable for people absent with reasonable problems. He's hard, but not unreasonable. If you want a decent challenge, take this man.
He is ok. you really have to study for his tests, and the questions can be confusing. The class was interesting, but wished that I took some else. If you do take him, make sure you take the notes from the slides directly, and study the chapters.

He forgets that we are NOT all Psych majors! I don't have a need to know about specific studies. I only want to know how to help my students and be the best teacher I can be someday! Tests are very hard! He also seems to come up with his own definitions and disregards the book's.
Tests were hard and unclear on what questions were wanting. You must know every single thing that has been said about essay questions for full credit. Class was hard in the summer because it is so much info in a little time.
This class is difficult - but worth it. Attendance is a must (extra credit). Copy his notes directly and understand the essay topics and you will ace the tests. If you try, you will learn alot from him.
You really have to study for this class. He talks FOREVER. Don't expect to ever get out early...because you won't. Take this class if you really want to learn about Psy. If not and you're just taking it for a requirement, look into taking someone else.
VERY easy...take notes verbatim and you will make a good grade on the test.

Prepare to feel violated when he talks about Frued's oral stage because he makes this unforgetable gesture that makes you want to puke. Know his essay's word for word the way he gives you them in the notes, because he is not looking for a textbook answer, he wants his opinion!! Tests are pretty hard. Be prepared to study.
The tests are pretty hard, but if you know your notes, you will do fine
Know your notes and the essays. He does give you some possible essay topics before the tests though. Tests really aren't that bad though. Know your notes. Overall, a pretty decent guy.
Dr. Nicodemus is a great teacher! I learned a lot from the class. The tests were challenging, but if you memorize the essays and his notes, you should do well. This isn't a class to skip a lot because you'll miss out on the notes you need for the test. The classwork is light except for test weeks (4) plus the final, and a PowerPoint project.
I have taken a couple of classes with this professor. Before taking the first class I was warned that he was hard. I found him to be easy. As long as you show up for class, read the chapters and study your notes from the lectures you will do very well in this class.

I don't know WHY everyone thinks Dr. Nic is bad. I think he's great and I really learned a lot in his lectures...and he's such a goof! :) Advice: go to class, ask questions, and take notes. He wants his students to learn and is willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen. If you make a bad great, it because of you-not him.
I thought Dr. N was great. He's very helpful, tries very hard to be available, and will go over stuff with you until you get it. Don't skip his classes and expect a good grade. Take notes, read the chapters, study. I don't understand why that's so hard for some people. I'm taking him for every psych class I can.
Avoid at all costs! You entire grade is 4 tests that you never know who will grade the essays(Worth 40/100 points), so you never know who to write for. It is bad when the test averages for a class of 100 people is 70 or below usually.
Great teacher for Educ. Psy.! He will give you 25 multiple choice questions and two essays. Tests are easy and Dr. N. is kind, helpful, smart, and know what he is talking about. He will let you prepare you essays before the test and he will gladly look at them so you get your 40 points. Dr. N. is the best!!!!
Awesome teacher!!! Knows his stuff and easy to approach if you have any questions. I would def. recommend him to anyone who is willing to learn! You really need to study for his exams, but will learn a lot! Exams consist to 2 essays (gives you five possible essay questions one week before exam) and between 20-30 MC questions.
His test are 10% out of the book and only bold words or lists, and his power points. His test aren't that hard, you just have to know exactly what his notes say about the essay topics he posts online. He has a lot of annoying phrases though.
Easy class. Test are MC and 2 essay questions. If you take good notes the tests are a breeze. He makes the class fairly interesting.
Class kind of hard if you ask me.The test are 20-25 multiple choice. The essays have to be exactly what he has in notes as well as anything he mentions about the subject in class. You kind of feel like you need a tape recorder as well as the ability to take very good notes to get an A.But he is a really nice guy and knows his stuff.Just study hard.
Dr. Nicodemus is one of those professors you really have to just pay attention to. GO TO CLASS, take notes, and study what he says, not what you think you read. One of the previous comments was that 10% of the book (the bold stuff) was on the tests: they are correct. And he goes in chronological order. If you study this class isn't that hard.
Very hard class! MC questions on test easy, essays are the killer, if you don't have the essays exact, might as well not even take the tests. Gets off subject on his lectures. 3 journal articles due and don't expect to get a good grade. Though he is a very nice guy, would not recommend his classes.
This class wasn't bad. Know the essay questions, memorize them to pass the test. Do his journal articles, they are easy as long as you follow the format. I enjoyed the class, just be prepared to do a lot of copying of his slides
He kind of rambles. His tests are hard on the essay question part but he gives you what the questions are, so this helps when studying.
Rather than buying the book...buy a voice recorder. The essays on his tests are based on what he says about the bullets in his power point notes. So, If you can't regurgitate what he's said, you won't pass. He has a tendency to ramble...so the voice recorder allows you to replay what he's said as many times as you need until you get his point.
I had him for educational psychology and it was a fairly difficult class. If you are willing to work hard and study a lot, you will be able to pull off an A. If you do all of your work and take the tests, he gives you an opportunity for extra credit.
one word: TOOL.
I would never take him again. On one exam half of M/C were "NOT" questions (i.e., Which of these is NOT...blah, blah, blah). Two essay questions. He gives you four essay questions to study for. Obsessive/compulsive about stuff in the auditorium - drinks, talking, etc. horrible experience. AVOID!
I took this guy for dev. psych. and he is a total hack. He is more concerned with papers and tests than teaching what is important. Write the paper and have them in on time or kiss that B goodbye. His tests are totally ridiculous, the essay questions are given to you before hand and you have to repeat verbatim at least a page of what you remember.
Don't believe the low ratings for Dr. N - they're all from the little babies in the Education department that take Educational Psych from him and are used to the EASY Ed courses. Welcome to the real world! You'll work you r ass off for Dr. N, but you'll be all the better for it. He's my FAVORITE prof and I couldn't have more respect for him.
He's a pain. I made an effort to get to know him, went to class, particpated in dicussions and studied a bunch. I was THREE points away from an A and he wouldn't give it to me. His own grad assistant hated him. He's more concerned with his reserach than teaching ED PSY. He expects u to be in class but he takes off without warning!
I would like to throw an idea out to Dr. Nicodemus. TEACH US WHAT WE SHOULD BE LEARNING. Don't assign journal articles that we cannot comprehend. Don't ramble about useless information we don't need. This is DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY, and I would love to learn how we develop over our lifespan. You know, kind of like the book teaches us.
Oh pleese! None of you no what ur talking bout. yah hes hard but its college. deal wit it.
Hooootttttt!Handle with care! Oh yeah, you have to study.
hey, i'm an ed major, and i think he's just as challenging as any other class. some people should just stop complaining, he's a great teacher, listen, take your notes, and study for tests really hard! he gives out the essays before hand.
He knows a lot about what he is teaching. His tests are pretty hard.He gives out the essays beforehand.Study ALOT!!
I agree the journal articles are hard to understand but the test come from the notes and you better know those essays. I do think Dr. Nicodemus is a good guy and is very knowledgable!!! He knows his stuff!
Very Hard. Went everyday, took notes, studied at least 8 hours for test, and only passed 1. When I asked for help, he said to come by his office during a time, I had another class! To pass, exam essays must be word for word, he took points off mine because I changed the wording.
He does not teach, he talks at you. He does not teach for students of all learning styles. He often provides information that conflicts with the text, but expects the student to know both. He goes off on long tangents about his wife, children, and personal opinions that are not related to the material. He does not encourage discussion from students
DO NOT TAKE HIM..HE IS VERY HARD...THERES ALL TEST..NO EXTRA CREDIT..HE TALKS THE WHOLE CLASS TIME. YOU WILL TAKE NOTES EVERY CLASS OFF OF HIS POWERPOINT...THE CLASS IS BORING.YOU DO HAVE TO ATTEND CLASS IN ORDER TO GET THE NOTES. HE DOES TAKE ROLL!!
very difficult.verbatim essays. he took 10points off my 20point essay because i left off a percentage (which should've been in parenthesis). terrible instructor.and is writing my rec letter VERY late and i gave materials in advance!! AVOID HIM!
LOVE HIM! His class is easy. Education majors are worse than small children. As long as you attend class, take notes, study (before bed & right after waking) you should do fine. I aced tests and only studied [as stated before] for 30 mins. Takes roll. The information is basically common sense anyway. Tests are verbatim from notes. It's college.
As long as you take notes in class and study them prior to the exam you will be fine. I didnt understand how to do something for my paper and he explained it to me. He rounded grades at end of semester and added a point to final grade if you didnt miss! Take him.
Whatever you've heard has all changed. The format is now totally electronic. Book is online. Quizzes are online. No extra class work. He posts discussion questions, but then rarely gives you opportunity to discuss. He recaps with powerpoints, but not crucial to the tests. No more verbatim. It's all electronic and online.
EASY! Tests are all online. Everything changed. I am making 100 on every online quiz, especially since you can use your online textbook as a reference. His lectures are long and dull, but mandatory. His only grades are about 100 point attendance and 12 online quizes. DO TAKE!
Online component is difficult to use, missing information, and often crashes. Professor's lectures stray away from the subject matter on the slides and much of the info covered in class isn't even relevant to the graded tests. All in all, the class would be better without the online text and tests and the professor needs to stay on topic.
His lectures are useless for the tests & boring. Tests consist of finding answers in the textbook, which makes them easy, but you learn nothing. The website is very glitchy/robs you of credit at times. He's clearly uninterested in helping students w/ problems. If you want to Facebook in class & not learn, he's your guy, otherwise take Dr. Woods!
Lectures are useless because tersts are online from the eBook, but attendance is MANDATORY!! Easy going professor, I used his class as a time to do other homework. Online tests are confusing and difficult!
Lectures are useless all test are online. The test are not too hard, just read the material. I used his class to do other homework, etc..
Eh, he was alright. Lectures are okay; book and his tests are online, so not too bad.
He walks around like he knows it all but he is a nice man. He knows what he is talking about! Show up to class bc that is part of ur grade. The test are online and super easy.
Online tests are easy if you at least scan-read through the material, which is also online. Nicodemus doesn't allow talking during lecture or texting. Be smart about it. You really don't have to talk during lecture. Attendance is everything. He knows a lot about his field. He talks about his accomplishments all the time. Do all your tests.
LOVED HIM!!! He really knows his stuff!!! One of the best!
i love his class i think he is an awesome teacher. i like taking the tests online also.
very boring...requires attendance but the book and test are online...don't take if you're not ready for the online scene.
He is a GREAT teacher...even though tests are online, I enjoyed coming to class. He's ALWAYS available and very helpful!
I took PSY 3100 online during the summer semester. The tests are challenging but you get two chances. You take a pre-test and post-test for each chapter. This method allows you to see your errors and directs you to the correct information in your book to prepare for the post-test. The tests are not timed. Excellent at communicating with students.
Wonderful professor. Excellent communication, responds quickly to emails, and grade consists of 13 chapter tests that are online. You take a pre-test and post-test for each chapter, this method of testing helps you retain the information.
13 tests total. Make sure to read and study his D2L notes because this is where the test information will all come from. Responds quickly to emails and willing to help you if needed. I have taken 3 of his classes and plan to take 1 more. I highly recommend him.
Easy Class! Professor was boring in lecture but attendance is mandatory! If you need a good grade I would recommend taking him. Total of 13 test online and no midterm or final!
Great professor cares about his students and lets you work ahead .. Straight forward tests .... Easy A as long as you read and study ...this class will not bigger you down ... I've taken several if his Psy classes all are pretty much the same .. In class attendance is mandatory .. But online iOS the exact same and you don't have to go to class
This is my 4th course with Dr. Nicodemus. Attendance is mandatory and points will be deducted if you miss class. Class consists of 12 tests only. Tests are all done online. Dr. Nicodemus is easy to talk to and responds quickly to emails. He does not put up with disrespectful students and I wish more professors were the same.
Hybrid course so you have to use the E-book and take exams online. Exams straight from the E-book. Class attendance mandatory though and he is a horrible lecturer; lectures have nothing to do with material online, and attendance is mandatory (counts as a test grade). Hated every minute.
This class was Hybrid. I enjoy coming to his lectures once a week. Exams are easy if you study AND use the study tools on Pearson. He does take attendance! I just wish more people participated in his lectures.
Test are online. He is easy to talk to and very helpful when ever you need help. You have to work for your grade. he does not just hand out grades. if you attend class and study you should have no problem passing his classes with a C or higher. He really cares about his students, but is very strict. he will not have pity on those who do not try.
I took this class during the wintermester, and was pleased that he only required tests to complete the course. Everything is online and the material is interesting. The key to passing is to read the chapters and complete the study material on the website before taking the chapter exam.
His lectures have nothing to do with tests. Your tests will be on Pearson. If you mistakingly take the wrong test that says "take chapter _ exam", he will not give you any credit for the test. You must take the right one or he will not give credit.
the only thing him is that if you are 1 minute late you are absent for the whole day. everything else is online so if your going to be late might as well not come . Attendance is 8 points.
Great teacher! Attendance is part of your grade and if you come in after he takes attendance, you don't get the points for being there. Tests are weekly online. I find that if I take notes while I read, I receive a better grade on my exams. Responds great to emails. He appreciates participation in class. Lectures can seem long but good info.
I took the online version of this class and while I never actually met him, he was always accessible through email. As long as you read the chapters, you should pass pretty easily. Highly recommend.
Avoid this class!!! His lectures are all over the place. He gives you 30 minutes to answer 30 test questions. Attendance is apart of your grade. You won't have a mid-term or final. The practice tests are nothing like the exam. Though, he is very approachable his advice for succeeding in the class isn't helpful.
I have taken a plethora of lecture classes, and never in my life have been more exhausted, aggrivated, and in awe about a professor's ability to relay information to their students. Everything he explains in class is not in line with what the book, online sources, other professors are saying. He is terrible. Please avoid at all cost.
Lectures take all class and are very dry. Typically what he lectures on isn't in depth enough to be on the weekly tests. Tests are through pearson forcing you to buy the book to take the tests. Attendance is for a grade and if you show up 5 minutes late or leave 5 minutes early you won't get attendance credit for the day.
AVOID! I took a hybrid class with him and he does not allow electronics out! How am I supposed to follow the lecture in my book when the book is online and I am not allowed to have my computer out?! Attendance is mandatory and if you arrive 1 minute late or leave 1 minute early you do not get credit for attending that day. Long, boring lectures!
the power points were not related to the test. study the book if you want to pass!!
I have had Dr. Nicodemus for Developmental Psychology (wintermester) as well as Abnormal Psychology and enjoyed both. The powerpoints he provides are not enough to pass the tests so you HAVE to read the book. His lectures can be a bit dry but he does try to make them more enjoyable. Attendance IS absolutely mandatory and he is strict about it.
Chapter test every friday, over 20+ pages of material. A LOT of studying if you want to do well. Dont bother studying PPTs, just study the textbook. He likes students who try so communicate with him! Class attendance is a big part of your grade. Only graded by 12 chapter tests and attendance. Hes very knowledgeable
