Very good teacher. His class is easy if you do practice problems.

His voice is very monotone. In fact, he reminds me of Ray Ramano, except he's not funny at all.
Boring!
He can get kind of monotonous, but his lectures are easy to get. Also, he had old tests from when I took it and those helped me tremendously.
easiest class ever if you want an a!
Very straighforward and goes by the books.
If you happen to be one of the select few to stay awake in his class, you will find that he is one of the most boring people in the world, and if you didn't get bonus points for being there, the room would be empty.
He's the best!! Very corny, but a great teacher. He was always willing to help and nice. Pecorino rocks!!
Only class I have ever failed.
i thought he was easy...but bored the hell out of me
Gives tons of homework and tests are tricky. This class was one of the worst classes I have ever had. I made A's in all of my other econ classes and ended up with a B- in this one.
Paul is a very monotonous and horrible lecturer. he strays all over the place and will put you to sleep. he doesnt use the book so the only way to learn is the lecture. surprisingly the tests are not that hard- right off of the study guide. the class will stress you out alot
Probably the most boring class in the history of the world, if u could stay awake during it u area saint
It is boring but if you dont listen to his lectures you will fail the class. He gives alot of homework as well but it helps for test and he gives his old test as practice if you do them you will pass the test!!
any quesTIONS?..questTIONS
Aw Mr. Pecorino! He's a little cutie like he's so cheesy sometimes you can't help but smile! The class itself isn't hard, it is a little boring but that would be a dumb reason to rule him out. I don't know if he's helpful because I don't really listen but If you ask him a specific question he is helpful! Tests arn't too bad as long as you study :)
Pecorino and his Pecorino cheese are about as interesting as watching grass grow. His lectures are in complete monotone and relates nothing in microeconomics to the present economy. Uses the same examples for the whole year and draws many charts. Study the old test and do your homework and you'll atleast pass the class. I do not recommend him.
He is kinda boring but i think thats just economics. He puts the notes up before hand so you can print them and just fill in the charts and graphs, which is very helpful! He does have his little corny jokes but he isnt bad! Rewards attendance! He offers tons of help sessions that really do help!
Easy. If you read the chapters and pay some attention in class then you will do fine. Most of it is common sense. A super plus.
Prof Pecorino was a very nice guy. His class was boring and puts everyone to sleep. If he didn't give bonus points for class attendance, it would be empty. Test are tough. Read notes and know how to work the practice test backwards. He is very helpful outside of class. I met with him a few times and he was always willing to help.
Very boring, but it is easy to do well as long as you understand the homework and get the bonus points for attending class.
Economics is just a boring subject in general and the concepts are hard to grasp but if you just go to class and try and pay attention and do the homework you will do fine. Work the old tests he puts up. 4 Bonus Points added to final grade for attendance. GO TO CLASS.
I found him to be a good teacher. If you print out his notes, bring them to class, and write down everything he does..you should do just fine. Everytime I didn't get the notes down or whatever, I didn't know what was going on. Go to class, take notes, do his old tests. Read the online textbook if you can (I didn't).
I had Pecorino for EC 110. It is a very easy class but it is boring. It's not all his fault though, econ is just a boring subject. He makes it very simple to understand with his notes. He will also help you out, you just have to go talk to him.
Easy class but it does get harder towards the end, but there's help sessions. Tests match material to a T. He tries to be funny and since he fails its funny. Attendance is mandatory if you choose it to be. He's a really nice guy.
If you have to take Microeconomics, take Paul pecorino. His lectures are boring, but his tests aren't too bad and its easy to make a good grade. Bonus points are added to your final grade for attendance. His jokes are worth taking the class.
The class is EXTREMELY boring and the test were a little confusing at times but he is willing to help whenever you need it and if you attend every class you get 4 extra pts on ur final grade and if you do the homework it will also increase your grade.
He is a good teacher. he offers ridiculous amounts of extra credit-10% of points on all tests and homework assignments. tests are easy to study for, and material is easy to grasp. homework is somewhat challenging because he never covers any of the material in class.
Great teacher, very helpful, attendance is necessary for extra credit. Tests are just like practice tests.
Pecorino is an OUTSTANDING teacher. I nearly failed Micro in HS and I easily Aced this class. Only one of my tests grades was below 100 and it was a 98. Go to class, pay attention, do the homework, and take the practice tests as if they are real tests. In a way, they are the same, just a little modified. Great teacher!
"uhh just a minute before you pack up and head to the door, there will be a tutor session tomorrow night at 6:30, homework due sunday at 11:45 p.m."...he says this at the end of EVERY class! pretty funny! the class is boring but he is a good teacher! print all the notes, do the homework, and study the old tests before each test and you'll do fine!
He is a terrible teacher. He is impossible to understand. He has dry humor which is funny. However, I am a straight A student and I tried my hardest in the class and still ended up with a B. I would NEVER recommend taking this teacher!
Great class. Even though I'm not a Business major I found this class to be interesting. Pecorino really helps you out with practice tests and extra points. I highly recommend him.
Boring, boring, boring. Pecorino is very fair with all he offers to students: bonus points, test retakes, tutor sessions, practice tests, and HW. If you go to class and apply yourself you are sure to get an A.
While I'm sure he's a great teacher for the basic economics classes, do not take him for honors! His expectations of the students in that class are unbelievably high. The tests involve drawing graphs and writing paragraphs explaining situations, and the paper is pretty confusing. He does offer bonus points which end up helping in the end, though.
Dr. Pecorino was a good instructor for this course. He is very experienced in what he teaches and makes himself available for help when needed. Also, he holds reviews for exams which is extremely helpful. To succeed in this class, do the APLIA homework, go to class (extra 4 points on final grade if you only have 0-2 absences), and study class notes
TAKE HIM FOR ECON 110 AND 111. His test are out of 110 points so you will always do a lot better!Received 4 A's and 1 high B on my tests. You are also offered bonus points( ADDED TO YOUR FINAL GRADE). Do the homework (which he drops the 4 lowest) and go to the review session before each test and you will do fine!
Had Dr. Pecorino for International Trade. His class was fantastic! His class is very structured but in a way that helps your grade. He cracks corny jokes to lighten up the lectures--dry but funny! The homeworks come straight from the lectures and the tests questions came straight from the homework. Tough class but you will learn a lot!
Great teacher! His test are out of 110 to help you out and he truly tries to help. Class can be boring at times but for a subject like Economics it has to be sometimes. Paul has a very dry since of humor with can be entertaining at times. I am taking him again for EC 11
He can be boring.
Paul is awesome. He tries to make clever jokes every time. Everything is out of 110 points so getting an A is very easy. You can miss up to two classes and get 6 bonus points at the end of the semester.
Great teacher. Likes to tell corny jokes. Easy A because of all the extra credit.
very sweet guy. he really wants to see student succeed. TONS of extra credit and test are very easy and straight forward. do the practice tests he gives you, the test is usually almost identical. he likes to crack very corny jokes, they are not funny, but he is. I would take him for ec 111 if I could. great professor.
He is wonderful and helpful, and the extra credit is easy! All assignments are out of 110 points, and the tests are replaceable. Highly recommend this professor. He wants students to do well, and makes it possible to do so. Corny jokes aside, the class was great!
Dr Pecorino is an excellent professor. Tests can be sort of difficult, but he gives so many bonus opportunities if you just come to class. His lectures are spot on.
Dr. Pecorino would be an excellent choice if looking for both an informative and easy class. He explains concepts very well and is happy to answer any questions. He sets expectations very clear right from Day 1 and gives ample opportunity to bonus points- attendance being the main one. Tests are very much like the practice tests as well.
This was a challenging but rewarding course. You cover quite a few models in this course, but don't really go too deep into any of them. Bottom line is that the lectures are the homework, which are the tests. Not easy, but no surprises. I got an A and never opened the textbook.
He's so socially awkward and fails miserably at making jokes, but his passion for the subject makes him a great teacher. If you take his practice tests to study and learn the concepts, his tests are VERY similar. You get extra credit for attendance, and every test/assignment has 110 possible points, so it is easy to maintain over 100% average.
He is not the most interesting person in the world, however, he does a great job explaining the material. Plenty of extra credit opportunity. Easy tests.
He's a little boring and has really corny jokes, Tests are very similar to the review but all worth 90% of your grade....
LONG and kinda boring lectures... however everything is curved and the tests are exactly like the practice tests! do them, study them and you will be fine! I would recommend him. 4 points EC if you attend class. dont even bother spending $100+ on the book, i never even opened it.
I took AP Econ in hs but unfortunately UA doesn't take 3s for the AP tests. Beginning of the class wasn't bad other than the Aplia homework which 1/2 the time don't make any sense & he averages the score, so even if you do a problem right and understand it you most likely are going to get partial credit. V dif from AP!! The final was really hard.
The class is super easy if you show up and try. Everything is out of 110 points. 4 tests and a homework assignment about every week. Print out the notes before class and follow along during the lecture. You have to try to get below an A.
He is super boring and very hard to pay attention to.
If there is one thing you need to know about Dr. Pecorino, then that is that he wants you to pass his class. You have the opportunity to add four bonus points to your final grade, and he gives you 110% on tests and homework. (A raw score of 80 on a test yields an 88) His lectures are rather long and boring, but he is sweet and tries to be funny.
This class is the most useful one and very helpful in the future. However, he is not funny at all and never gives any curves or extra credits. Never miss the class and I am pretty sure you wont pass this one if you miss more than ten seconds.
Dr. Pecorino is honestly a great professor. His lectures are somewhat boring, but it's economics. The grading system is incredibly fair and Dr. Pecorino offers VERY generous extra credit. If you show up to every class he will give you 4 points on your final grade. You can get an easy A by just showing up to class and studying for exams.
There is a lot of extra credit and he is very fair in the grading criteria. He is super sweet. If you show up to every class, you get four points on your final average. Would take him again!
Fantastic Professor. Easy to understand and always lets lecture out early. Never assigns homework or quizzes so all your grades come from tests. Such a great teacher that you're always prepared for the test.
Dr. Pecorino is one of the worst professors at UA. I am a straight A student, and I think he makes class as hard as he can. I do not recommend his EC 430 if you have another elective you can take.
Hardest undergrad class I've had in my ec major. Exams are really hard. Would probably be easier if he gave you the tools you need. Your studying tools are 1 to 2 examples of the question which he will change drastically. You need to memorize the textbook, his slides, his lectures and google all the info he doesn't give you if you want an A. Avoid.
Dr. Pecorino is one of the most confusing professors I have ever taken. I have never had to put in more hours studying for a class then his. He will change every practice problem from the study guide on the test and confuse you to no end. Would definitely recommend taking any other Econ class.
AVOID HIM NO MATTER WHAT. Doesn't care about his students in the slightest since he's a "research professor", will nickel and dime you on every test so much so that all semester I never received full credit on a single question, changes study guide questions to be nothing like test questions. HORRIBLE TEACHER ALL AROUND. don't even bother with xc..
Dr. Pecorino is incredibly smart - there's no denying that. However, often times he forgets that he is teaching college students. do the study guides and you'll be fine for the tests. Go to lecture and MAKE him explain. The final however was awful. I scored above a 90 on every test and barely got a 68 on the CUMULATIVE final (35% of your grade).
Great guy, a bit monotone though. I'd definitely recommend his class
Not a bad choice for EC 110. He has dry humor. I made an A- in his class and studied a day or two before the test. I'm not very smart either.
Paul is weird but funny. His notes are everything-GO TO CLASS. Definitely do the homework & get an answer key as well as the review sessions (he basically gives you answers to the test). He is definitely a tough grader, but gives you everything you need to be successful. Also gives up to 5 extra credit points for hmk & participation.
Pecorino's class is difficult and fast paced. Attendance/Participation and homework are for extra credit, but you won't pass if you don't go. He lectures the entire class and there are homework assignments every week. The tests are mostly from the study guides which are from the homework. Go to the review session and study and it's a manageable A.
Definitely the hardest class I've taken at UA. He makes up his own versions of the textbook graphs with about 2 examples, on the hw and study guide. Then he changes the graphs on tests in every possible way, and be ready for him to take off points for your lines not being perfectly tangent and minor labeling errors. Would NOT recommend!
I am an international student. Dr. Pecorino is the most responsible professor I met in UA. His class is easy to understand so that I rarely read textbook after class. The class and homework is much helpful for tests. He is a very kind person. I really appreciate for his help.
nice guys AWFUL teacher. just writes unintelligible graphs on the board and expects you to know what he is talking about. didn't even use the book at all. only has tests and a 5% quiz and a 35% cumulative final. this guy is way too smart to teach people who aren't econ geniuses. would take a different professor.
Paul was a nice guy, but he was a ridiculously hard grader. He had no grace with any grades. Over the top and should not be teaching. He is too smart to be teaching college kids. If you dont talk in class you dont get any participation points. I would NEVER take him again. Im telling you, SAVE YOUR SELF!!
Really bad all around. I gotall A's in college, but got a C in his class because it was so hard. AVOID
The most RIDICULOUS class I have ever taken with the worst teacher I have ever had. He makes no sense, is way too smart to be teacher undergraduates, is unrelated, and has no mercy. He is tough and beyond hard in the way he grades. DO NOT TAKE
Worst professor at UA.
Yes, he can be difficult in the way he grades, but he is thorough in his lectures and you learn a lot in his class. Available for help often too. Grade is compromised of tests primarily, but he builds in bonus points into test. I cannot stress this one enough, GO TO THE REVIEWS! They are extremely helpful. All in all, I would take him again.
Do not take this class! Dont know how he even has a decent rating. Marks you off for useless things, & will not help you out. The final is cumulative & worth 35% of your grade. Impossible to understand whats going on in class. Hes way too smart to be teaching this course. Somehow I passed the first 3 tests but the final is going to tank my grade
This is the hardest class I have ever taken and the WORST professor I have ever had. Not only is he extremely unapproachable, he presents the material in the most absurd manner. For an intermediate class, he makes it extremely difficult and expects a lot of prior knowledge despite the fact that the only pre requisites are mirco and macro.
Pecorino catches a lot of heat for various reasonsbe it the difficulty of his exams or gradingbut I don't think its necessarily all deserved. Go to class, asks questions every now and then for bonus points, do the homework, work through the study guide, and you'll be fine I promise.
Absolutely the worst teacher at UA, maybe the country. I love econ but Pecorino made the class terrible.
I have no idea why everyone is saying he is a bad professor. His class is extremely structured, and you always know what is expected of you for exams. I have thoroughly enjoyed his class, and he offers his own to host review sessions for the exam. Wonderful person. Go to class, take notes, and do the homework, and you will be fine.
He is a terrible teacher, does not explain material well. If you don't go to his reviews you will struggle. The review for the final he had the students do it and numerous students messed up and he failed to fix the problems. He is a very tough grader who will nickel and dime you on the tests as much as he can. Take someone else.
hard class but if you go (can miss 2 times w/o penalty on bonus) and participate then youll be fine. His tests are open ended math. He does give you a study guide for each test though that is helpful. DONT SLACK IN THE BEGINNING because it all builds up and the final is very hard and weighted more. You will need a cushion in your grade for final
Professor Pecorino's class is very hard. He seems like he cares, but then again really whatever you make on the final is what your grade will end up being and he changed up how we were preparing for tests for the final. He had review sessions for the first 3 and for the final sort of left it up in the air. Would not recommend taking him.
I made all A's in college except making a C in his class. That should tell you everything. I genuinely think he wants everyone to fail.
So, EC308 is hard with any teacher, so naturally Pecorinos is too. But he is a pretty solid dude, albeit a bit quirky. I would definitely take him again because I did learn from him. He also offers study sessions before tests, so he does care about his students. The only issue is that he handwrites everything on the board instead of a PowerPoint.
I have never made less than a B in any class in my entire life and almost failed this one. Professor Pecorino is hands down the WORST teacher I have encountered in my whole life. All he does is draw graphs and math on the white board with almost no explanation to what any of it means. Your grade is based solely on his near impossible tests.
Another terrible teacher in UA's econ department. Hopefully soon they will fire some of these and bring in some new teachers who actually teach well, and care about students.
I had all A's and one C- and it was this class. I dont think it has anything to do with me, but all with him. He is so bad at teaching and so biased. Worst professor at UA
For the love of Christ, avoid this man at all costs. Pecorino will teach you the HW /study guide problems then completely change it for the test (which he will nickel and dime you on). This course is a masters/undergrad hybrid that is really geared more toward the masters students. DO NOT TAKE if you care about your GPA.
Do not take Pecorino. Terrible teacher, explainer, nobody understands him or his teaching style. UA needs to fix their econ department asap, terrible teachers everywhere there.
EC430 was difficult, but he explained the concepts perfectly and posted great review videos before exams. Your grade will be based heavily on exams, but the content is always fair, and he prepares you well for it. I would take this class a million times if I could - I learned so much and it was enjoyable. 10/10 class and professor.
There's too much Pecorino libel going on here. I've never written a review for a professor before but he really cares about economics and it shows. If you don't show up at the lectures, you won't pass, it's as simple as that. You don't have to buy the book because he covers everything you need to know. Tests are based off the homework. Take him.
Worst professor at UA. I had him twice and regret it. Very biased and rude. My only B in college.
He was a fantastic professor and I learned a lot. It is not hard to do well in this course if you pay attention & take notes during the lectures, do the homework, and study for the tests. He cares about his students and wants you to learn.
This class is extremely lecture heavy. If you go to class and take notes. The notes are the homework problems and the homework problems are the same ones on the study guide. And the study guide questions are literally exam questions with slight variations. This class is very easy but only if you put the work in. Those who don't show up don't get As
Attending class and doing the homework are both optional, but you get extra credit if you do. It's kind of difficult to make up ground if you miss even one class because he doesn't post notes. Study guides for the tests are extremely helpful though. You also get assigned a relatively short (c. 4-6 page) research paper.
Pecorino is a horrible teacher. He is a kind guy, but oh my god is he bad at teaching this class. His hand writing is so sloppy and his lectures have no structure. Nobody in the class knows what's going on. He explains terribly. HW is hard af. Save yourself the pain and boredom and take someone else.
Professor Pecorino gets an incredibly undeserved rep on RMP. He is funny, good at economics, and good at teaching. Must attend class to understand the material and prep for tests, but you get extra credit at the end of the semester for doing so. He makes great review sheets before exams + videos explaining each question with jokes to keep it fun.
Meticulous, and lectures entire class period every time. Do all the HW + run through the study guides a few times + watch his review videos and you should easily pass. The paper is oddly graded - just do your best and you'll at worst get a B. Don't do it last minute because it requires a lot of work. Tests are just like study guide.
Boring lectures, but the homework correlates well with the test questions. Pay attention in lectures as there will be questions on the tests on things he says that aren't on the homework. Grades the paper pretty leniently.
He is a great professor. The class is very difficult all exams are completely open ended. You will know and understand the info very well after taking him that is for sure. There is a homework assignment every week that counts for extra credit. The class is only actually graded by exams. I enjoyed his class but its hard
Professor Pecorino is a great teacher. He has been doing it for a while and he knows what he is talking about. The whole class is 3 tests and a final exam and he grades the papers fairly. Class participation and homework is extra credit. Although his lectures seem long at times, they help. I would recommend him for 309 any day of the week.
Good lecturer, sometimes not the most clear, but he encourages asking questions and has very good insights. The grade is based on exams, and each one has 5% extra credit. You can earn extra credit for class participation and homework, but they aren't mandatory for the main portion of your grade. Exams are similar to homework/review. Do the homework
His class was sometimes dull, but that might've been me. The course is work, but it is manageable, and there are a TON of extra credit opportunities (homework, class participation, extra points on exams). Do the homework and the study guides, and those will be the important things for tests. Reading the textbook is still expected and advisable.
