Very funny, tests are easy, plus you actually learn, not too much homework

Great teacher and extremly funny. You will not be bored in this class and you actually learn a lot. His tests and his quiz questions mostly come from the book. Take one of his classes, you will not regret it!

Paul is very fun and easy going teacher. I took ECE Creative activities and it was fun. Expect some quizzes, some exams, note cards OK, final was take home. There are 4 group presentations and many creative activities to play with.

This class was great. He is a great lecturer and his stories are hilarious. If you don't like group projects and presentations, don't take this class! Otherwise, I 100% recommend. Study the chapters assigned for each test, but most of the time he lets you use notes or even take them in groups.

paul is a really cool guy! his stories are funny, gives quizes every 2-3 weeks that are sometimes group, and gives extra points! a couple of group presentations, homework is easy and he doesnt really care when you turn them in as long as you do eventually turn them in. i have him for 3 of my 4 classes and wish he taught more ece courses!

I haven't had a teacher i was so happy with since 5th grade.You MUST take teacher!, very analytical, teaches in a way that you remember the material the only complaint i have is that he doesn't teach ALL the classes so i could always take him. not enough characters to fully explain how great Paul is. take the class, you wont regret it!

Very chill teacher. His stories and style are funny. Sometimes the class content gets boring, but we watched a few interesting videos. There are a lot of quizzes (20 points) and a few tests. Nothing was super difficult. He gives study guides which is very helpful. Overall, with little effort you can pass this class.

Paul is the nicest and coolest person you can ever meet. He is so easy and helpful in all things and he is very funny. He makes you feel comfortable and you can ask him anything and he will help you.

I took Pitner's childhood development class. His interest in children is so apparent and he is so funny! Great teaching style, keeps class and lectures entertaining. Try not to be late to his class, his lectures are MESSY and ALL over the chalk board, very difficult to keep up w hand writing. But no essay was required, study and tests will be easy.

The best teacher I've had! I've taken him for both ECE 124 & 125. His passion for working with children really shows during lectures. He shares stories and experiences. His lectures on the chalk board can get messy, but easy to follow if you listen. He usually provides a study guide or gives you test questions in advance. I recommend taking him.

Pitner is my favorite teacher at DVC! He is so funny & his lectures aren't boring. His tests are all take home, so open book. Pretty much everything is extra credit to him, he offered it for someone to take his cat from him lol. His handwriting is not the best & the board after class is a mess, but you don't need to take notes anyway. Super easy A!

I took Pitners class for 124 and it was really simple! He gives out a study guide for every quiz and midterm you take even though sometime the questions are a bit weird and unclear and dont always follow the quiz. He's pretty funny but if you're serious some of his jokes might offend you lol. Either way he's an easy grader and no need for notes

Amazing, amazing class! Pitner is hilarious and his stories always seem to tie perfectly with the lessontopic being taught. Super cool, down to earth, and hilariously blunt. I definitely recommend his class. His board is a huge mess by the end of class but its only for your benefit. His scrabble helped me stay engaged during his 4 hr lectures.

He is benevolent and hilarious. He will help you whenever you ask. In addition, his lectures are amazing and interesting. I would recommend everybody to take him. He is the best!

Super easy class, I'm pretty sure everyone got an A. His lectures are hilarious and he makes it really easy to remember stuff. Offers extra credit basically for no reason, so as long as you come most of the time, you're good. I would take him again.

Pitner is by far the best, most enthusiastic, professor I've ever had. His lectures are always fun, its important to show up because he mentions topics on the tests. His tests are easy and their all open book but you should still go over the study guides and vocabulary.

One of the easiest classes/professors I've ever had. I had two other classes including a 5 unit lab and this was the only class I didn't have to stress over. Literally just show up to class because he changes quiz dates and hands out e.c regularly and do all the worksheets,and it's an easy A. He talks a lot but he's funny,wears cool shoes also

Professor Pitner is really entertaining. His class seemed pretty straightforward and easy. The tests are open note so it's pretty easy to get a good grade if you show up to class. I love his stories and his attitude.

Great guy, average teacher. Experienced in ECE/mental health field, so he has great stories. As a result, lectures tend to stray from quiz material, but everything is open-note. Short videos are shown as EC classroom examples, and notes are super easy. Keep up with the little homework assigned (i.e. observations) and you should pass, no problem.

Barley used the textbook. However, you do need the workbook because that is where yo get the homework from. Very easy class, love his class! making lectures funny! He gives E/c out for showing up to class, when taking quizzes you can do it in groups, exams you are able to take a page of notes and for final you are able to take a page of notes F&B.

Prof. Pinter was very understanding and empathetic in general. He accepted late work in our class and has a wonderful sense of humor. Prof. Pitner is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about child development and but you need to be interested and pay attention in lecture to pass. Please be kind and get ready to enjoy ECE!!!

One of the best teachers @ DVC, his lectures are interesting and writes down his notes, missed class? you NEED to copy those notes, theyll be on the quizzes and exams. Quizzes are group quizzes, barely any homework, 2 exams both multiple choice and written responses. Overall an amazing teacher! If I was a psychology major I would def take him

Professor Pitner is one of the best teachers I've ever had. I actually liked attending class because his lectures were so interesting plus he dresses really cool! Has about 7 quizzes and most of them you can use your notes. I bought the textbook, but didn't even open it the whole semester. He prepares you for every single quiz and tests. Easy A!

The only reason Pitner is not a 5 is that he lets his political views into his lectures quite often, preaching them as unquestioned fact when in reality they are largely debatable, which is inappropriate even if I agree with a lot of them. On to the good stuff - Pitner really treats you like an adult and nonjudgementally encourages all his students

He doesn't really care about attendance but I showed up to every single class anyway just cause I liked him so much!! he's very inspirational because of the amount of work he does. Took professor Paul online summer course health safety and nutrition for young children. Great class pretty easy just do all the work and you will pass

he is such a good professor. he will really get you thinking about personal things that have happened to you without even calling you out! he is hilarious and makes class fun, he is also very understanding, but don't take advantage.

I've taken Paul before, he's an easy A if you can keep up with his lectures. He doesn't have clear notes, he writes random words/phrases as he speaks due to his dyslexia. So if you miss class get ready to ask someone for their notes. His workbook is pricey and during COVID19 he didn't use it once so I wish I didn't buy it- heads up. But fun class!

Just had him for an Early Childhood Class that was online due to COVID. He doesn't even read the responses as long as you do submit SOMETHING for the essay portion you will receive FULL credit. I wrote two sentences for most of the essays online and received the full 18 points. Easy A just turn in the work on time.

This class can be a hard intro class I've heard if you take it with the wrong teacher. Luckily Paul was a breeze. Cengage was due every sunday with a couple assignments and a "quiz". THATS IT. Other than that, he posts his recorded lectures from previous semesters and you write a couple sentences to summarize. TAKE HIM, you won't regret it!!!

This class was very simple; read the textbook, and watch the lectures, respond to the lectures. Though, there was little professor-student interaction. There were no full exams during this course. Though, BEWARE, I have heard this professor's online course was very different from the in-person course. Overall, a good, easy A course.

I loved this professor! The workload was sometimes heavy, but it was never hard. His lectures were interesting and educational, and he made it easy to follow along! He was super understanding and this class was fun, even though it was online!

The online class has a VERY heavy workload. Lots of lectures, plus discussions, plus assignments within one week. If you miss a day, you will fall behind. Heavy note-taking. He moves fast. He makes you buy a very expensive ($120) book in addition to subscribing to Cengage. Very pricy. Otherwise, he has a great personality. He's friendly and funny

Since it was an online class it was at my own pace as long as I turned everything in by the end of the week. The reading wasn't too bad, if your in a pinch skim the reading for main points and you should be able to complete the written assignments. His lectures were fun to watch and showed enthusiasm for what he was teaching.

He is the most caring and understanding professor there is. The most lenient grader as well. Taking him is a no-brainer. Love him!

His lecture videos were fun and interesting to watch. The assignments werent difficult to complete at all, just make sure you read, watch and take notes of the lectures. He also gave a lot of extra credit work.

All the information helped me be more aware of what I say and how to speak to children and how it affects us all from our own experiences. I have learned so much and would recommend this class to many people because I truly believe it's life-changing. I recommend this class to all who are around, have, or work with children.

I took his class back in person 6 years ago for 124 and he was amazing and really engaging. And now I am pursuing ECE and taking him again! Responds to e-mails really quickly, and available to answer questions about class material and degree/cert questions too! Quiz information is all on his modules and I barely used the textbook.

I loved this course. Clear work, grading, criteria, lectures, and best of all no test or finals of any kind. The content of the course was engaging and I enjoyed the professors personal book. Textbooks are required but are great. I 100% recommend this course.

Paul is such a great professor! And he teaches the ECE subject really well. I will say though that there is a lot of homework that is easy, but can take along time. There is a weekly quiz (online). Those aren't too hard. To pass those show up to class and take notes. Because what he teaches in class is on the quiz.

Professor. Pitner is so awesome and funny. He is chill and as long as you do the assignments on time then you will easily pass with an A. I will say that the only downside was he took a very long time to grade homework. But other than that he was great. Take him if you can!

Absolutely loved this professor! His in-person lectures were always super engaging and funny, he has so many stories that connect with the lecture info! Lectures were really just review of weekly chapter readings, the online textbook is provided, and quizzes were given online every two weeks. Easy class, enjoyable professor, definitely recommend!

Pitner was definitely my favorite teacher out of the four. This is my first year at DVC and I was like hey this guy seems cool, and right I was. Literally, the best teacher, super funny, super caring and his lectures were so funny. He's not a tough grader and most of his work is easy and fun to do. TAKE THIS CLASS IN PERSON BTW. Had him Tuesdays B)

You will see a short introductory video of him the first week of the semester and never hear from him again after that. HE WILL NOT READ YOUR ESSAYS or written assignments, just turn it in and get 100%. If you want an easy A+, take his online class. could've saved hundreds and gotten the same education if i had just purchased the textbook by itself

As long as you read through his modules, show up, and do the required online work, you will pass this class. I've had Paul Pitner twice and always enjoyed his lectures and personality! If you take his online summer class, you will have to pay for the book on Cengage. No book is required to purchase if you take him in person during the semester.

Paul is a very intriguing teacher, his lectures are not boring in the slightest and he seems passionate about the subject. Overall the class was not difficult at all, I submitted 2 of the 5 or so quizzes and the final exam without doing any of the discussions and still passed with an A. Take this course with Paul, trust.

Professor Pitner makes this class a breeze. His lectures are engaging and he has a great sense of humor. The workload is manageable, with weekly quizzes and assignments. I found Unstuck AI super helpful for practice and review. Definitely take this class if you can!

This online course used Cengage learning platform for the work. Paul is engaging and kind. Do not buy his textbook that he urges you to. He wrote it and literally does not include it in the course at all. Overall awesome and knowledgeable guy. Easy coursework.
