a lot of memorization from the book. his tests are a bit difficult, but he offers many extra credit oppurtunities.
All tests are essay. He is a very good teacher, but be prepared to write a lot.
Glad to see a Professor who enjoys what he does! Very helpful. Learned a lot from the class. Tests bit difficult. But the prep reviews are great! Definitely would recommend his other classes.
Very easy teacher. Makes sure you understand everything. Goes over material on what's going to be on the test...Very nice and so into his job.
He is a fair, straightforward teacher who makes you think about the society around you. He tells you directly what to study for the tests; i would highly recommend him.
Absolutely the nicest teacher on campus. Probably one of the top 5 on a "Best PCC Teachers" list. Sociology is easy, but take it with Price, and you'll have a wonderful time.
One of the best teachers I have had at PCC. Very funny, encuraging, supportive man. HAs a good heart. Makes class very interesting. Gives good reviews for the test, but tests are a bit difficult. If you read what he tells u to, your good to go.
Great teacher. Tests are all on basic concepts and straight from the book and articles he assigns. Really helpful and wants students to understand and succeed. Class fun and not boring.
Excellent teacher. He really cares about the students and guides you through the semester. If u need help, he is available in office hours (for term papers, etc). The tests aren't easy, but if u study what he says is on it, you'll pass. He tells u the ques
very clear, helpful, and fair. tests are kind of hard, but he tells you word for word what is on each one...if he runs behind sched. for the final, he might give you a printout summary for the final exam, depending on each semester.
he rocks!
Dr. Price is a good lecture teacher but let me just warn you to check on him. He seems to not know how to count and grade you correctly. Although he is cool, we are there to earn a grade not like the teacher, and he didn't grade me correctly.
Don't know what that last commenters problem was; Dr. Price was very fair and very, very kind. Not too tough either -- take the class!
Dr. Price is a wonderful teacher. Very down to earth & helpful. His lectures are cool, & his tests are not hard. There are some group work required & presentations, but he's a good grader. Just do the work the best you can. He also gives extra credit.
Wow...what a great teacher. If there were more teachers that are as motivated and motivating as he is, then no one would ever drop out of classes. Can't say enough good things about this man.
Dr. Price rocks! He is kind, funny, and extremely compelling. He has inspired me to consider changing my major to Sociology. I can't say enough about him... he loves to engage in conversation about real life, and really cares about students.
A great professor! The class is easy. You have to keep up with the reading. You have four tests and on paper. Make sure to participate in class discussions. It is a very interesting class.
i took two of his classes and i would take more. his tests are very easy to study for b/c he gives the ?'s beforehand. he's interesting and lets you out early. i strongly recommend him. theres no problems with him and u can reach him easily for hel
This is one of the best classes i have taken at pcc. Dr. Price is a good lecturer, he's very fair, and humorous at times. The tests are somewhat easy, but if you are a student who doesnt interact with the class then you could lose some points and miss.
I do not understand these people? He is really not that easy! The tests he gives out are on the book from which he hardly ever teaches! do NOT TAKE HIM! take someone else instead
he's great. anyone and everyone should take him.
you'll like this guy if you're a Marxist.
He's a good teacher, but the only problem is that he is racially biast.
Dr. Price is an amazing teacher. He motivates his students and brings awareness upon us. I wish there were more teachers like him...he motivates me to learn and really put input in my studies.
He is very clear with his teachings.
he's good at what he does... he's not that hard since he gives u study guides for exams but u really need to fully understand the paradigms and know how to relate it to all of the chapters.. but if u do all his assignments and attend class,u'll do fine
He is not very helpful. The things he talks about in the lectures are not even a big part of the test. If you study with his study guides, they will not garantee you a good grade, because he leaves out a lot! the test ? are stupid
His lectures are decent and he makes it so that the class feels comfortable to speak your mind about race, class, gender, etcetera. He sounds like Tim Meadows from the movie Lady's Man. It's funny
excellent teacher, i learned a lot
Dr. Price is an excellent professor, I had him for Hist 29 b also. He is very helpful , his reviews for the exams are worth the note taking. He makes learning fun. A very encouraging human being.
I took him for sociology 1 this Summer. He kept the class interesting and i could say i learned alot. Take him, you will not regret it.
He's a nice guy. His class isn't boring. He brings up some very good and interesting arguments. He's a really good teacher.
You MUST participate in class discussion to get an A. his tests are easy.
He's and awesome teacher. His lectures are interesting and pertain to the material in the book. You have to participate but its easy to do that in such an interesting class.
I can't say enough about the honorable Dr. Paul Price. I said so much when I nominated him last winter for a faculty award. He is very educated, prolific, eloquent, professional and intelligent. His classroom was electric yet relaxed. I loved his class and respect him highly.
very passionate about this subject & even wrote a book.
"Good to be seen."

hes an excellent teacher.. extreamly educated and will make u fall in love with the subject. couldnt as for a better teacher... his class has alot of reading but its all intresting and pertains to everyday life... everyone will get something out of his classes hes great!
His exams are not consistent with the lectures.
His class is such a waste of time, you might as well pass the class by just reading the book and following the study guide. Sociology is a great subject, but I feel he is teaching us as if it was primary school. He's very nice and knows the subject well, but he's very very slow, very unorganized, and his lectures are only 20% of the actual test.
Just read and study.
he teaching style sucks. the notes on his board don't even make sense. his tests are unreasonable and very HARD. don't take his class, you won't learn anything.
I thought this class would be interesting but with this prof its not! The notes on the board don't make sense. On tests he asks for ridiculous detail. He also has you in chat groups and on line all semester but won't email you your grade at the end of the semester. Take it with someone else if you want to enjoy it!
He's a terrible waste of time. Awful and sloppy lecturer. The last 1/4 of the semester he gives up teaching to make the class listen to extra credit presentations and the classes end 45 minutes early. He is also in need for an editor for his book. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE!!!
read and study for the test!!!!!:(
This was one of the most interesting classes I have taken at PCC. It was reading intensive, but the material was interesting. Price is a great teacher, but you have to WANT to learn the material to do well in this class. Anyone who rated this class low didn't stick around long enough.
Yes..u must study to do good n this class. Do the work and study at home (which is required for all classes) and you will ace with flying colors. Don't take this class if you are lazy! If anything is unclear ask. I was str8 4ward with Dr. Price and he was with me. Great Teacher...He cares for his students and will take time out 4 u 2 get it!
I took the class because I thought it would be interesting. the subject is.. however, the teacher can't teach. :/
HAHA! some of these "bad" reviews are hysterical. too bad most of them don't get it... & too bad they didn't get the class. he is SO NOT biased, and he is NO ****. he is also no Marxist (and so what if he was.) He is very intelligent and loves the subject he teaches. he is hilarious. take it. you wont be dissapointed!
three thumbs down!!! tests are pretty much mostly book based, but his lectures seem slightly boring. Unless you participate a lot in the class don't expect to get a passing grade.
Great and very informed professor. Has a real knowledge of the subject matter, and he is also a great mentor. He is a fair and upright professor who always challenges his students to learn more, however he is always there to give you a helping hand!!! A great man!! A great professor!!!!

alot of reading. fairly easy class. boring lectures. get out of class early. his notes suck. he just writes random thoughts. speaks with his hands."interesting question" as a reply to if we can have more than 1 source for a paper. nice person though. feels like he doesn't put much into teaching anymore.. maybe hes busy with his book on
Waste of time. This class is not for people who either want to be academically or analytically challenged or for anyone who wants an easy A. So really it's not for anyone. And that's because Price's class is just an hour of whatever "sociological" political agenda he has for the day. Don't believe me? Wait til you have to buy his own published book
Took his class got a B. I probably could have got an A if I wouldn't have missed an assignment. Second class with Price, real cool guy and grades in yoor favor.
I don't know what to say. 6 meetings, show up all 6 times, study for the test, try to pay attention in class or stay away during the videos (some are pretty good) and don't mess up on the open note quizzes.
Before anything, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IN SHORT SEMESTER. I took it Winter 2007 and it is very difficult. The first test was based on Ch. 1 - 5 132 PGS in one week with no notes or open book. and we had 2 other tests of 5 chapters. he didn't really teach, we mostly watched films and the couple discussions we had was carried on by us.
Dont take his class especially his itv course. he doesnt teach! barely touches the topic. test are insanely hard! for ITV it was first 5 chs test 1. doesnt teach and exams are tough 80Q and yes videos are important to watch. i dont recommend. take some one else.man expects us to know5 ch per test w/o curve books or notes! take at your own risk
Very helpful!! He loves participation during class. His class is interesting if you are willing to learn, otherwise do not take it because you'll be wasting others and your time. So, people that do not like to socialize in class better do not take it. Also, if you do not like reading, don"t!
ITV is misleading; instead, it should be called cram-class. That's all you do-- cram cram cram. If you're good at self studying from the text and taking tests, then ITV is an easy A as long as you make sure to keep up. Otherwise, you'll most likely fail.
dr. price is one of the best teachers i have ever had. He wants you to pass and he will do anything to help his students he doesnt over work his students and he is incredibly interesting. EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE ONE OF HIS CLASSES
DONT TAKE DURING SHORT TERM!! the itv course is all about cramming. 80 Q for each test, roughly 5 chapters for each exam. its tough! take someone else. YES VIDEOS AND side readings he hands out are important. yourve been warned. take someone else
Thought I was in grade school. He has teachers pets. Changes subject if your view is different than his. He is very one sided in his teaching and his viewpoint.
HATE HIM!!!.. super boring! I suggest not taking him period. I dragged myself to class every morning hoping to wake up but he just made me sleepier!! "its good to be seen" is what you'll hear EVERYDAY. He has good intentions but isn't a up to beat teacher. So if you like a boring class he's your teacher.
this man is good you really have to read and study for the test....
This professor was an insult to my intelligence and my integrity. Treating adults like children and redundant instruction is not my idea of quality education. He rarely spoke in class but what he did say was nothing insightful. Mostly quoted directly from the book. Material covered was good but Please Dont Take This Professor!
He's class is definitely easy, that is for sure, but boring and useless. If he doesn't take off points from not coming to class, you can probably Ace it by just reading the text book 2-3 days before the test day. He barely lectures and most of the class is just group work of just reading the text book.
yuck. do not take during short semester. majority of your grade is based on only 3 tests which are difficult even if you study off his useless study guide. highly don't recommend
Very detailed, interactive lectures. Despite having taken this during a winter intersession, it was still fun and relatively easy. Exams are straight forward, but you DO have to read. Group discussions were simple. Extra credit presentations on various articles. If you're motivated to learn with adequate self-discipline, you'll breeze by with an A!
This guy by far is the worst teacher i had at PCC. He's very boring, so make sure your not sleepy coming to class. He will acuse you of dumb things as well. DO NOT TAKE. HES BORING, HORRIBLE , in every sociology class. DO NOTT TAKE HIM!@
teacher is knowledgeable and helpful but the winter intercession for socio itv class is only for those who have good time management skills & discipline to read the book, watch the dvds and read the extra readings! too much work for little time. better take dr price's socio class on a regular semester if you want to be relaxed & still learn & enjoy
Dr. Price is by far my favorite professor. I took him my 1st yr.@ pcc and his soc 29 class worked and opened my mind more than any professors had.He WANTS his students to succeed, he is very reasonable...get to know him and be ready to critically think. let him know that u want to be there... and your in! <3 we need more DR. PRICE's. =)
I THOUGH THIS CLASS WAS REALLY INTERESTING...PRICE REALLY CARES ABOUT HIS STUDENTS AND WILL HELP. BUT THIS CLASS IS NOT EASY NOT HARD EITHER. YOU JUST HAVE TO STUDY ALL TEST ARE IN BLUE BOOK HE GIVES STUDY GUIDES WITH THE QUESTIONS AND THEN PICKS TWO THE DAY OF SO YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE MATERIAL. HE TRIES HIS BEST TO MAKE SURE HIS STUDENTS SUCCEED!
one of thee Best teachers at PCC, very caring if u have a problem GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS! i got a well earned B in his class hes awesome the material was easy 2 learn i bombed his 1st test but once u get his teaching style u r in there, no big suprises he keeps it basic and the class was fun, i def recommend him!
1) The class is completely useless from a financial standpoint.2) You must be a wizard if you can stay awake.3) Cake class. Show up, read, study = A+.4) Take everything he says with a grain of salt: obviously his viewpoints are completely biased/slanted.5) He is, in fact, a Marxist.6) Everyone cheats but they still do poorly..??7) Soc=waste of time
Great teacher. I really enjoyed him. He really keeps you interested. You DO have to buy the book and going to class is a must (well I took his ITV). He does help you. He gives you a study guide before every test and the quizzes are open book/notes. I recommend him.
Dr. Price is an excellent teacher, clarifies everything so easy to understand. No tricky tests, super easy, but MUST read the text in order to A the exams. Recommend Dr. Price...easy A, never a boring class with him!!!
itv students must attend. you only meet six times during the semester, he is not very helpful. 80 question test, no notes. he expects you to memorizes all the diferrent sociologist and their concepts.
Dr. Price is great. All you really need to do is to come to class and read the book. All his tests are based on textbook chapters. Also read the assignment articles before going to class, it helps and watch the DVDs.There are only 3 tests, but he will give you a chance to earn some extra points. Do your work and it will be an easy A.
I took this class during Winter and it flew by pretty fast. He taught very accurately and it was pretty easy. Plus, the way he taught was quite interesting.
I took this class during Winter '09 and Dr. Price is truly amazing! The class was extremely easy, assigned simple homework based on the readings and hands out study guides for tests. There were three tests, one of the a midterm and the other the final. All three tests were 50 questions at most and he offered 5 extra credit point opportunities!
I took this class during winter 09 and its a really interesting class. Taking an online class was kind of hard because you have to read 5 chapters a week and then you have a test the following week. He explained everything pretty clear and i liked the movies he showed. Don't take an online class during a short term, it will kill you!
LOOOOOVEd every minute in Dr Price's class. He is extremley helpful and loves getting to know his students.I HIGHLY recomend his class to anyone interested in this field or just for fun. :)
The most helpful, kind teacher on campus. You learn a lot and watch interesting videos. I miss this class actually.
The book is extremely complicated. I feel that this subject can be explained and discussed in an easier manner. He gives you the test questions beforehand and picks 2. Study all of that and write 2 pages about it! Barely any HW. Attendance not mandatory, but cares if you're there. "Good to be seen". He lets you out early a lot!
He is a GREAT teacher; anyone who says otherwise is probably lazy and self-entitled. Tests are fairly easy, IF you read the book. offers extra credit almost every test, plus an extra credit assignment. slackers, BEWARE.
took his ITV class during fall & he is very nice but the class is hard cause you have 5long ch. to read. only have exam, mid-term, final... 80? tests & short readings with quiz. didnt really learn anything. if you are visual& like the class setting then dont take the class its much harder then i thought. he never talks about the chap. ur on ur own!
I took this class during the winter intersession and would not recommend it unless that is the ONLY class you are taking. 5 chapters per week. I studied very hard but still missed many points on the midterm. Tests are tricky and I did not learn very much at all. No point in having a professor bcause he doesnt TEACH~!
He does not teach and is really full of himself. attending class is a waste of time but its mandatory. tests are fairly easy if you follow the study guide
I attended the 200 people big online class in summer. Read the textbooks really well cuz all his test questions come from there. It doesn't seem like much learning was done during his class. we just watched videos
DRY!!!!!!!!!! The class is boring! This was never my subject though, so If you find Sociology interesting, have fun.
Didn't learn a lot from the teacher, what you need to do is read the textbook by yourself and go to test. I was doing good, but i missed the final accidentally, he failed me.
This class isn't easy especially during an inter-session. Hated the m/c questions, were pretty difficult and based on a lot of random facts. I also hate his habit to repeat himself. He should retire.
Don't think you can just skim the textbook and come into class prepared. I made the mistake of sticking to the good old highlighter when I should have been taking notes and making flashcards. Otherwise, it's a class that gets you thinking. I enjoyed the discussion board and while I found the book/class to be very politically left, I learned a lot.
How do you "accidently" miss a final? You have to be lazy or just plain dumb to fail this class! He tells you EXACTLY what to study. Extremely easy ITV class. It is alot of work though! If you get an average of 60/80 on your exams you'll do fine. The videos are not as important as the text.
Took in Summer with 63 units and 3.7gpa. I absorbed the book, attended every class, took notes, followed his study guide, absorbed the DVD's, and participated in the discussion board. My cousin has a bachelor's in Sociology and she helped me prepare for the exams. I got a D and had to drop. Price seems like an ok guy. His tests didn't click with me
PCC students always exaggerate about the difficulty of a class! Apparently, we've got some lazy people here complaining about Price. I can't wait to see you $h** your pants when you're thrown out in the real world - like a four year college. Just read, study, and attend class. And if you "accidently" miss class, maybe college was an accident too!
very hard teacher took him during intersection, failed we did 5 chapters a week. Too much work, exams are extremely hard without index card, still he does not allow them.
His ITV class is really suitable for lazy persons. Only 6 meetings for a semester, all the quizs, tests, exams are multiple choices. Easy!!! I always begin reading the books in the last minute, but I am still fine
Dont listen to that last comment. I took him in the inersession and got a B! Price is easy as long as you study! He gives you a study guide with exactactly what you need to look for in each chapter. You dont need to memorize the book. People that fail this class are dimwits who make up sorry excuses.
Trys to give REAL WORLD LESSONS BY SHOWING EXAMPLE. His level of conduct is much needed and his professionalism is good. Students looking for an easy ride stay away, but if you want to be a participant in the your learning process them just attend class (all class sessions) and take notes and you will be fine. The Student must take the initiative t
Indirectly teaches you what the world expects out of you. Does not allow excuses as your chances in the real world are limited as well. Besides you will most likely get once real shot at success at life so be as ready as you can. Dr. Price is very helpful and precise in what he is looking in his students ( especially on his essay exams ).
I had NO interest in this class prior to meeting this professor. My knowledge in sociology will always be limited due to my interest in it. However, professor price is a reasonable teacher who makes discussion very interesting and he accommodates with every students. The class was interesting and if you are planning to take sociology, take Mr.Price
Dr. price was an outstanding professor! I definitely enjoyed going to his classes. It was an easy course if you have some experience of the world and other cultures. I recommend taking this class.
He is an okay guy, but he taught nothing in his class. His tests are extremely difficult and detailed from the book. He taught less than three classes the whole semester. Other times are all discussion, group work, presentation and in class homework assignment. You can only prepare for the tests yourself. You will learn nothing from him
Dr. Price is my FAVORITE professor at PCC! He is a wonderful educator! people who say his class is "hard" umm...its COLLEGE. Of course you have to read, if you dont read you will not be prepared. he is very helpful, ask questions in class and visit him during his office hours for more help if needed. Formula to pass read+ask questions & you'll pass
honestly, not a easy course. the professor is not nice. he is not willing to help you to improve. strict grading, though. maybe he uses his own to teaches you a sociology class. be careful!
I'm an ESL student and got an A finally...not easy for me coz the language..but i think not hard for native speakers as long as read the book. Do not recommend to take in sum/winter(I took this summer, harder than regular)..professor doesn't really teach anything, but he helped me something personal so I gave him high rate..
I have to say that I WOULD NOT recommend this class to anyone. The teacher doesn't elaborate on the textbook. The Exam is 80 questions (no open notes & only 45 min to complete). And he has us take exams the very end of class so that we forget the material we've studied.
Everything is exactly from the textbook exactly from the articles instructed to read. If you have graphic sharp memory everything should be almost a breeze for you. Meaning that you read detailed inside out the textbook and articles. He encourages freedom of speech from the students. unlike the other professors adding their hate speech
I LOVEEE HIS CLASS! he is amazing and anyone that says different isnt trying hard enough! his study guides are useful and you MUST read and get familiar with all articles, and books he assigns. best teacher! he encourages free speech and encourages you if you get to know him! if you love criminology take him! he will open your eyes
Really i dont think he cares about teaching the subject matter, probably because he has tenure, Price just plays a lot of movies that don't appear on tests and is just a waste of time. Don't recommend if your looking for an easy class or expect him to really teach.
dr price is great class is very chill and easy if u study the study guide he gives you. no real hw does have extra credit all u need to do is read and its not alot either does not lecture on the book or much at all, he has the students talk about their poinions on the subjects and gives his to. lets class leave early!
Really cool guy, very knowledgeable. Extremely interesting class, I'm taking another one with him in the spring. His tests are pretty tough, and some of the questions are on very nitpicky details. Fun class though, he encourages participation and group work.
He made the class very interesting, and helps you prepare for his tests.
Do NOT take this class. His lectures has NOTHING to do with the exams. 80 questions per exam, 45 min to complete, no notes. All the questions concern very detailed info from the textbook so unless you have photographic memory, you will not do well in this class. do not take this class. I warned you.
Helpless instructor. Hard tests and quizes. you are not going to pass if you know socio1 well
Dr. Price is a great professor. The exams are easy if you read the textbook. People complain about how he doesn't lecture everything in the exams in class, but they should know that there is not enough time to cover everything in class. Come to him during office hours if you have questions; he really cares for his students and is extremely helpful.
He is really nice, the test are of the study guide. He doesn't really give homework but just read the chapters on the book. He's conversations in class are very interesting. He made me like sociology alot.!
Sociology is supposed to be an easy class but Dr. Price makes it as hard as he possibly can.. The text book was used heavily and none of the material from the lectures was on the exam. I just read the book and memorized all the small details because anything from the book could be on the exams. I recommend taking this class with another instructor.
This class was not that interesting to me. He seems really nice, but he is kind of passive aggressive and insincere. The tests are very easy as long as you do the reading. Straight from the book. It is an easy A.
It is almost impossible to get A in this class. He grades incorrectly. He doesnt teach in class. He changes the answers in the exams to the answers that he felt is right instead of what the textbook says. This class is not even your last resort.....
one word "horrible", he was not helpful at all, he pretended to be very knowledgeable, but i just felt like he didn't know what he is talking about. He just wanted you to study by yourself. the study guide was really confusing, no significant points there.
This class is very challeging because it requires a lot of reading and memorizing. Your grade is mostly based on exams, which are all multiple choices. (You have to read the book multiple times and work really hard)Don't take it if you are not ready.
Took FOREVER to post our final grades every time. Barely lectured in class. Refused to answer my emails and wouldn't help when I missed a day. If you just memorize the book and videos you might get a B or C.
Great professor. He really cares about his students; even when their no longer in his class.
Really did not like Dr. Price's form of teaching. I found him to be lackluster to say the least. He is someone who cares about conversations more than teaching what will be on his exams. Like many others will attest too.
Pretty interesting professor. He really knows how to apply the material to life. He has post discussions online that you need to do. Assignments are easy. He has online quizzes and exams are easy too if you study the book and watch the DVD's. 5% of the exam are based on dvd's
Honestly, in the beginning, he was pretty good because he began to do lectures which review what you read from the book. Later on, he stopped doing it and only did discussions (pretty useless). His exams don't even come together with the book. He says he doesn't trick you when he does. A is possible, but hard to obtain. Usually B for class average.
I studied a lot for this class and his tests were not related to the book at all. Did not lecture in class which made it harder. He is more on to videos than actually teaching. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
Don't take this class if you don't want to fail. That is ALL I have to say. Good Luck! :)
Mr. Paul C Price was my Professor in Black Sociology, Black Psychology and Black History at Pasadena City College in their Pan African Studies Curriculum in 1987 and 1993 he helped to shape and narrate my views of my heritage and who I have become as an Afrikan in America so much to be thankful for for laying out the framework of Black Studies!
Very helpful
Unclear, inaccessible, and lazy. His grading criteria was not clear resulting in me doing the projects wrong. When I asked for help he either took too long to respond or told me to figure it out. He did not seem passionate about sociology, relied on softchalk lessons to teach us. His projects were outdated. The textbook only covers basic ideas.
He is an amazing Professor! I enjoyed his lectures. He makes his study guides as he makes his tests so you will have a good idea on how his tests will look. If you do the homework and pay attention, you have a good chance of getting an A!
Won't give extra credit and grade very hard on essays. If I were you I would not this take class unless you don't have any choice.
I took the 8 week course and it was multiple writing assignments every weeks. He is also a tough grader. I had an A almost the entire course and I dropped down to a C the 2nd to last week because of the projects he assigned. The textbook is required but I never got it and I was fine. It had nothing to do with my grade dropping.
He is a tough grader but if you do all your work on time you will be fine. Just follow the rubric and pay attention to due dates.
I enjoyed Dr. Price's class. He has more of a discussion type lecture than powerpoint/notes, but you do have to do a lot of textbook reading on your own time to do well on his exams. 3 exams total, 2 papers, and 1 final project. He's tough grader on papers, but his study guides are pretty similar to the actual exam. Take advantage of extra credit!
Amazing teacher! I would really recommend Dr. Price!! He makes class very interesting. He only has three Exams during the whole semester and he gives his students a study guide for his exam. Study and you'll pass his class.
Dr. Price is an excellent professor. He was very understanding of students circumstances and made accommodations accordingly. You just have to talk to him,he's very approachable and friendly. There is some group work but it's actually beneficial towards certain assignments. His study guides are great too and he reviews them before each exam! EC Too
If you are a Latino please don't take this class because you would not pass. I did all the paper work I was never absent and I got extra credit when people was absent and she still not pass me. I am very upset because I was there the whole time and she is not giving me a clear explanation why I did not pass if I did everything.
This online class was difficult. There was so much work due every week it was ridiculous. I also felt like I was taking a web design class for some of the assignments. He doesn't respond to some questions you ask and when he says something is wrong with your assignment and you ask him to clarify what he means by that he doesn't clarify anything.
His online class assignments are ridiculously excessive and the course material basically just alternates between common sense and senselessness, an unnecessary headache and literally my worst college course so far.
Professor price assigned A LOT of work. He would give full credit on the homework but for projects he would never give the full credit, nothing was good enough for him! I would message him prior to the due date to ask how I could get full credit on the projects and he said I cant predict your grade I still got an A though.
If you do not like writing papers DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! I personally love writing and I think the writing assignments given were very helpful to further understand the material. He gives full credit as long as you include everything on the rubric. Theres at least 2 discussions a week plus 2 papers. The book isnt necessary but helpful.
Signed up for an honors soc class unbeknownst to me. Was expecting it to be difficult but it was actually quite easy. As long as you show up, do the work that's assigned and do decent on the exams, you should pass. There wasn't a bunch of papers to write like another review stated. Prof Price is great at making you think from different perspectives
Prof. Price is a great man. He was organized, and although his tests were tricky, he was very nice and always understanding. He encouraged class discussion and didn't judge anyone's opinion, making it a safe environment to share. We had a few short written assignments, and we had to read the textbook, but it was very doable.
Dr. Price is the best of the best. He picks up on who participates and is big into group work and class discussions. The tests are exactly what is on the study guides. He also gives extra credit sometimes on the tests and an extra credit project. Very little homework or effort besides the tests and his criteria is clear. Definitely recommend.
He is a great professor, he is very knowledgeable and his lectures are very interesting. He gives study guides for his tests, as long as you really take your time to really study you will pass.
He is very strict about late assignments and does not consider our situations. Professor are supposed to encourage students to do get good grades.
I took Dr. Price for online Sociology for an 8 wk online class. His class was structured very well to make assignments organized. Everything had clear due dates for each week and were really simple assignments that were discussions and questions about the chapter from the book. Super easy class as long as you do all the work. 10/10 recommend him!
He is a poor lecturer! He rambles and it is hard to make sense of what he is saying because he seems to loose his place. His assignments are vague and it feels as though he doesn't know what he's talking about. Sweet guy, just not a great teacher :/
Honestly what is wrong with this guy, it is so hard to meet his standards. He grades insanely hard, to the point where it is really difficult to get As on homework assignments. Terrible professor, I don't think he should be so strict, it just is demoralizing, his comments on your work are also not super clear, overall bad experience, bad teacher.
Dr. Price was such an awesome professor. I took his online 8 week course. it was very well structured and very clear grading criteria. If you do all the work and make sure you answers every question that is asked you will do fine. it is writing heavy but really simple questions that can be found in the book. I totally recommend his course!
Read the textbook and powerpoint's and you'll be fine.
I took his class over the winter semester 1 yr ago. By week 2 I was already down to an "F" even with all of my assignments completed in that short time. I sent emails to ask if he could shed some light on what I am doing so I can improve. Days later his response was" You still have time to make changes before the due date" Avoid at all costs.
Took Dr Price for 8 week class. Usually 2 chapters in a week, late work NOT accepted so it's important to stay on top of deadlines. Use of SOC2020 textbook, but also provides his own powerpoints. Each week-2 discussions &2 assignments. This class also centers around building a final ePortfolio. "Final" multiple-choice exam on two chapter's material
Everybody should take this class. It's so interesting and the assignments that he gives us are quite informative. He's strict about late work, but he gives really great feedback (most of the time). In addition, he adds his own comment during open discussions. I respect and wish him well. Make sure to read the textbook to pass with flying colors.
I've never met a professor as dedicated as Dr. Price. He engages and encourages his students into participating in class discussions and extra credit. He is a very powerful speaker and person. I recommend 100%!!! He focuses on the sociology of African-Americans and introduces Black activists that you've never heard of before!!
This professor is nice. But there are really a lot of assignments and the professor definitely does not accept late submissions. If you hate writing assignments or if you are a procrastinator, don't take this class.
Took Dr. Price for African-American Sociology (Socio 63) and it was an amazing class. He assigns one assignment per week, BUT they affect your grade A LOT and he grades harshly. You have to critically think on every assignment, but you learn so much throughout the course. There's one extra credit assignment that helps raise your grade A LOT.
Dr. Price is legit and he will make sure to teach you what time it is. His class is straightforward with a medium of difficulty. Great engagement with classmates almost every day and he's just a great person. Whenever I see him I say what's up. His class is good to fill up some space and not have to worry too much. There is a midterm and final.
I took Prof. Price for Fall 2023. I honestly applaud him for how straightforward his work is. As long as you study the material and sources he provided, you should do well for the mid-term. Feel free to set up appointments with him for office hours. He's generally really helpful to showcase understanding. Overall: 9/10 based on the online course.
Dr. Price's rating of 3.8 should be lowered. Some students, including myself, don't like his teaching approach. He only gives in-class assignments, which isn't ideal. Also, his micromanagement is reminiscent of junior high.
Professor Price's SOC001A class is pretty straightforward. As long as you stay on top of the readings and assignments, you'll do well. The tests can be tricky, but going to office hours helps a lot. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for preparing for exams.
Dr. Price truly acknowledges your presence in class. He releases the textbook chapters alongside the PowerPoint on Canvas, so you just have to apply yourself. He's easy to talk to during office hours & via email. Emphasis on in-class assignments & group activities, if you're unable to complete those then you have a chance w/ extra credit project.
Dr. Price is a kind, straightforward professor with a helpful motto "NO EXCUSES" The class is easy, but stay on top of your work because missing assignments or earning low grades can drop your final grade significantly. Read or watch the material beforehand to make assignments easier. I'm grateful for this class and how Dr. Price educated me!
Dr Price, is great!! He only has in class assignments which helped with workload from other classes and work at the same time. He gives optional extra credit and he teaches really good. The only thing is that you aren't able to make up any assignments but then again everything's done during class. I would definitely recommend taking his course!
