A good speaker, with logical course organization. Not quite as liberal as most.
Great teacher, interesting classes.
Looks like a baby but very organized.

the guy is really a nice guy, very clear, nice appearance too

He is a nice guy, but he assumes a certain degree of knowledge when you enter his course. I had to withdraw because the material was jsut way over my head. But, if i had taken intro to poli sci and a socialology class, i think i could have done better.
Paul is ok. Its just that you have to depend on the book more if you want a good grade. His lectures are average, he doesn't teach a whole lot.

He makes learning the Canadian Political system fun. Always a pleasure to attend his classes. He is a fair marker and approachable prof.
funny and informative. can tell he enjoys what he is teaching.
the man is incredibly drop dead gorgeous... he dresses amazing and has the best sense of humour, awesome personality!! i recommend him to anyone who is serious about poli sci, should take this prof
Great prof and great guy. Makes some of those snoozer political topics somewhat interesting and his tests aren't that hard compared to some of the course material taught. I took 1119 and I doubt I would have taken 2229 if he wasn't the prof.

great prof. he makes an unappealing 3 hr poli sci appealing. I enjoyed his lectures although the readings were long and boring. oh and yes, he's hot.
Well, He talks a lot. He can be helpful if you actually go and see him.The midterm is super easy. Beware that the paper topics are boring and dont expect an A. Evening classes: Lots of mature ADULT wanabe politicians!

Great instructor. Engages students and expresses ideas with clarity and enthusiasm. Good tutorial structure, fair marker.
I did really well in his class but did not enjoy the class, mainly because his lectures were poorly organized, and lacked a coherent structure. I was never certain on what to expect on the tests because he never made it clear what his objective was.
He knows his Canadian politics.
Paul's cool! i've taken 3 courses of his....he always help students out and all.! strongly recommended!
Probably the best coutrse I've taken in polisci. He really challenges the students to think about issues.
He gives interesting lectures. He's very approchable and nice and helpful if you go see him one on one. And he is very nice to look at.
Paul is an awesome teacher. I cant begin to say how much i enjoyed his class. Anyone who does not know anything about Canadian Politics should take this course...its awesome.
I have taken three classes with Paul but it is hard to concentrate because he radiates so much sex appeal. Not only is he a pleasure to look at but he is also a pleasure to listen to even when it comes to dry stuff like Canadian Politics. Take his class!!
Excellent prof! He's supportive, nice, with great academic knowledge and devotion to teaching! Thanks Paul!
OMG he is like the best teacher. I never wanted to take this course befor but now i am happy that I am in it. I am in his class right now and am enjoying it very much.
Clear, interesting, funny, and engaging lectures. He has seminars where you're marked for participation, though attendance not mandatory for lectures, which is great if you have a job. Easily available out of class, VERY helpful.
really good class i thought, just picked the wrong one so it kinda messed me up but overall hes a good guy
Always willing to help, open minded about students opinions and feelings. Always takes time to answer questions as best he can. First half of the course was pretty boring second half after the midterm was interesting, thats when you get into case studies.
Paul is such a great teacher, super fun and actually makes learning politics fun! This makes me want to take more poli sci classes in the years to come!

Paul is an awesome teacher! He's clear and straightforward about assignments, and he goes out of his way to let people know that he's available anytime if you're having trouble with the course. Highly reccommend taking a course of his if you're interested in political science.
He is the greatest
This man is a man from the heavens...he is funny, smart, and very underestandable. Goes out of his way to help his students. Also he is very easy to get a hold of, yes the midterm is easy (I was finished in 15 minutes and got 90%) but he will get you on the term paper...highly recomended.
Paul is great! He has a really good teaching style and you walk away from the class a lot smarter-but be careful, his good looks are a bit distracting. P.S. he is a really good dresser! I think his wife picks out his clothes for him!
Don't take his courses in the evening, you'll literally fall asleep. He can be that boring. BTW that warning applies to people intrested in polisci too!
he is awesome, he teaches in a way that is humorous and helpful, he always answers peoples questions friendly and he clarifies things, always on time, efficient, and an all around really great guy.
nice guy, course is boring as hell.
Paul is such a great teacher. He makes a subject that is dry extremely interesting. I highly recommend any of his classes. He is also normal, meaning very easy to approach. He is not like alot of other political science nerds that are in the department at Langara. Great teacher, great guy, interesting.
Paul is amazing! I love his sense of humour, and his ability to keep everyone in the class awake and on their toes. The seminars are interesting and get people going, and it's just... fun to be there. I'm trying to get into his Comparative Politics class next term, it should be great.

Wonderful teacher! He is extremely well-versed in the subject, clear in his explanations and polished in his presentations. Doesn't use powerpoint (bless him) and is a good orator. I would gladly take classes from him again.
Loved this teacher, if you get a chance to take him...im sure you'll feel the same way
He is a very nice, intelligent and helpful teacher. He takes interest in what he teaches.
He is a good teacher, but only thing that takes points away from that is his notes. He tends to talk 80% of the time and not write any of it down, so sometimes its kinda hard to get down exactly what he said. Nonetheless he is a good teacher and I would recommend him if you want to learn more about Canadian Politics.
an excellent teacher!
Unbelievable teacher. He is irresistible, he turns all the boring book knowledge into something that makes sense.
A very solid prof who engages the class, uses humour very well, makes concepts clear and has a long career ahead of him. Makes the topic accessible and is eminently respectful of all students opinions. Take copious notes and read the text assigned. He's not overly demanding but he won't accept slop either! Will be taking more of his classes...
interesting class, but nothing much to learn from him.
He is with a doubt one of the best teachers at Langara. I would take one of his classes again in a heartbeat. The material and exams were all reasonable expectations.
This guy is great! He will prepare you for University as he talks about a very boring subject in an intriguing way. Has a lot of stories about Canadian Politics that are very interesting. Do the readings...go to class...you'll do fine.
very objective, looks at facts... great prep for later univ courses or grad school
Great prof and really inspired me to take up other political science courses. He has such a likable personality, it is impossible not to like the guy. He explains what appear to be boring topics, in a funny and engaging way.
Excellent lectures and engaging discussions. Seminar classes were always a pleasure. Midterm was far more difficult than final, so don't be caught asleep at the wheel mid-semester.
If you take a night class, be sure to have something to keep you awake. He knows his stuff, but he likes to talk. A lot. No stutter or filler words, almost like a speech. Do your readings, take notes in class. He is one of those profs that rewards people for working hard in the class be taken.
I have no idea why I took Cdn politics because I knew nothing about it and it's pretty dry material. But, I ended up enjoying the class, and learning alot. I thought I was going to have problems paying attention, but he made it easy to listen and learn. He's also really nice, and helpful! Exams are straightforward, you'll know what to expect.
Unless you're into CDN politics, lectures tend to be pretty boring, though Prosperi does make an effort to make it interesting. Be sure to study the key contents (outlined by the notes in class) of the textbook thoroughly, it'll help alot with the finals and midterms.
Great prof! He makes lectures very interesting. I didn't find the subject matter boring at all. If you participate you'll get more out of the class. Exams are fair. Read the text and you'll do fine.
Paul really is a great professor. He is passionate about politics and his lectures are very clear and entertaining. He is very helpful outside of class as well. Younger and easy to talk to. Read the text and memorize definitions and you will ace both exams. Paper is a bit of a challenge but can be fun if you choose the right topic!
Paul tries makes the best out of the lengthy material. Extremely nice guy, and always approachable and helpful. Midterm exam is easy if you read the textbook, but the paper is challenging and more strictly marked.
Great teacher, the course I took you learn so much about everything it's hard to take it in and he did a great job making it interesting. Really nice and funny guy, I enjoy his class and look forward to taking more. Midterm was extremely easy, read the text, learn definitions and focus on what he tells you will be on it and you will ace it.
Great instructor, overall easy midterm and final, no surprises at all. Fair marker and answers questions promptly.
I have no complaints. This man has taught this course many, many, many times, yet he still seems engaged. He uses his experience to everyone's benefit, making for a straightforward and pleasant experience overall. Try to write a good paper though ;)
Great proff, makes class clear and interesting even though the content wasnt that interesting. Read the textbook and memorize it!!
Great teacher!
i've taken 1119 and currently taking 1100 and he's the best of the best. he makes political science fun. don't be fooled by his good looks and charm. you have to work HARD in his classes. it'll pay off. he's very approachable so go to him if you need help! great prof, highly recommend taking his classes! btw canucks ftw!
Paul is an excellent teacher. He is very dedicated and willing to explain concepts to you if you are finding them difficult to grasp. He is also very funny and tries to make an effort to help you understand content by applying them to real world situations and current world issues. Keep up the great work Paul!
Paul is very knowledgable within his field yet remains very composed and objective in his standpoints. Doesn't ask for much except do required work - listen!(His lectures are absolutely where its at), required readings and your work will show (and rewarded) by a fair, intelligent instructor like Paul. Good humor and overall a real pleasant guy !
Paul is an excellent prof. He is willing to go above and beyond if you are willing to take the time to approach him. His lectures are laced with sarcasm and wit and his knowledge of the subject is profound. He's not an easy marker but if you put in the work then you can really get something out of his courses.
Dr. Paul Prosperi is better than most professors because of his ability to genuinely and accurately appraise students character, work-ethic and talent.
Paul is a really easy going and nice to listen too. He replies to email quickly and gives you feedback and an answer. He makes class pretty light and is corky. Doesn't give breaks but always lets out class 30 minutes early. Easy midterm if you cram. I highly recommend taking a course with him
Paul is a great prof. His lectures are interesting, and his sarcastic humour is great. There are 4 "seminar" days(ie class discussions). He teaches from his own slides (and doesn't post the notes online so you HAVE to attend unless you're already an expert) but tests on the book too. There's 1 midterm and 1 8pg term paper. Overall not bad.
Great sense of humor, very approachable. Lectures are clear and usually pretty enjoyable. He`s a big-concept guy, so no need to memorize a lot of historical facts, just grasp the big ideas and be able to discuss them. Seminars (small group discussions) help flesh out details. Gave me lots of really usable feedback on my paper. The best!
Paul is awesome. Great teacher, super approachable, hilarious anecdotes. A lot of the material on his tests are directly from the text so if you do your readings you're good to go- BUT attend his lectures because they are so great and he's great. Love this guy
The best teacher ever! The material is super dull, but he makes you want to learn. Super easygoing and helpful. Midterm and final are easy. Do not underestimate the 8-pg research paper! It takes time. Fair marker. Cares about his students and likes what he's teaching. He's super funny, too. Loved listening to him. Would LOVE to have him again!
Take any class you can with him. He is very clear about what he wants, makes the tests very manageable and makes the class very enjoyable. His classes tend to run short; he teaches what matters to him, allows for a bit of discussion, then gets you on your way. Go see him about your paper -- he's encouraging and gives great advice.
Went into this class thinking I would hate it, but Paul made the class so interesting that it inspired me to take more political science classes. Exams are straightforward, attend the lectures because not all the information is in the book. START THE RESEARCH PAPER EARLY. Not impossible to do well on it but put in the effort and see him for help.
Prosperi is awesome! Learned so much even on first few weeks into his political science course. THUMBS UP! would take his courses again!
Prosperi is everything I ask for in a professor. Very approachable and clear. He is really passionate about progressive issues in Poli Sci and ties in a lot of relevant material relating to the student audience. Taking this course as an elective, I got a ton out of his class. His seminars are a really unique way of discussing the material.
Hilarious prof, one of the best at Langara. Does get a TA to mark his papers though.
Paul is the best. He made a fairly dry subject matter engaging and fun. He has a great sense of humor, and he is totally easy on the eyes. If you are reading the text and participating in the seminars you will do fine. This class was my favorite of the semester and I would definitely take another class with him
Really great guy. He managed to make a topic that he admitted was fairly dull quite interesting. He told us on the 1st day that the seminar questions would be the essay questions on the final. You can't ask for more by way of clarity. Take a class with him if you can.
Great prof, not too hard but I learned a lot. Definitely need to keep up with readings. Hard marker on the research papers but not hard on exams. Definitely recommend. 1 research paper, 1 midterm, 5 seminars (which require very minimal participation), and 1 final.
Took 2 classes with him - intro and cdn politics. probably one of the best profs ive ever had. so approachable, extremely kind, and very understanding without being a pushover. crystal clear about what he expects and how to get the marks you want. learned a lot from him. thanks paul!
I have enjoyed his lectures very much.
Amazing teacher. Lectures with a passion. I kept passing out in his class, but that wasn't his fault. Not a big fan of poli sci (had to take it for crim jus program), but he made it somewhat interesting. Funny guy, too. To quote other raters: do NOT underestimate the 8-page research paper, and start it early.
Great guy, really wants you to succeed, fairly funny, but nothing can make up for such a BORING class, beware! When he is lecturing he goes quickly, but tells you what not to write down - take particular note of what he says to write or not to write as it will really help you when studying for finals! Lots of reading but only one essay and 2 exams.
Attend class because some exam questions are only from the in class powerpoints. Super boring lectures, tends to ramble on. Nice guy and is sometimes funny.
Paul is a very engaging professor who knows what he's talking about (for the most part - be aware of misquoting dates). He has these funny little quips whilst lecturing that make it less a lecture and more a great learning experience. Lots of metaphors that are funny and help memorize terms. Participate in seminars. He will help if you go to him.
Lectures are quite engaging and short. Paul is a great speaker and very good at making jokes out of the material he presents in class. If you participate even a little bit he will remember your name. Exams are not difficult if you study moderately. There's 1 long research essay worth 25% but instructions are clear and he is always willing to help.
Prosperi is an inspiration. I've taken a few courses with him; Poli 1119 and 2250. He sums up the information you need concisely and in such a way that it'll have a lasting impact on your education. My girlfriend and I have both taken his course and still reference information he taught in his lecture. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
I love Paul. I've had him twice now and am looking for future classes to take with him. He's funny and really nice. If you he's always willing to answer questions and take the time to explain things. He'll let you know what you need to take notes on, and what you can find in the text, but I barely had to read the text. His seminars are my favorite.
Paul is awesome. he's hilarious and super keen on his field. That being said he expects you to be very keen on his field as well. I missed two lectures and it didn't effect me too much however I can see if you skip a lot you would fail. If you have an interest tho Paul is extremely knowledgeable and his lectures are very well done. would reccommend
He has extremely engaging lectures and he makes bland course material very interesting. He is super engaging and really really wants to help his students succeed. He is a bit of a tough grader, but go to office hours for help! His lecture slides are clear and what he's saying is super easy to comprehend. A solid choice for a prof,
I didn't think I'd like Poli Sci before I took Paul's class but he made it so interesting. Going to lectures is important since a lot of test questions are based on the slides. You can tell that Paul really loves his subject & teaching. He makes little jokes that are actually funny & make the lectures enjoyable! Take his class, you wont regret it!
Since I took a survey course it was basically all textbook (which was well formatted and easy to read). Lectures are mostly straight out of the textbook but he does give good examples in class. A great prof if you have anxiety, he says comforting stats before exams and when in office hours he's really calm and helpful.
I also took POLI1119. He is a great lecturer: clear, concise, funny, and informative. His readings are useful and the lecture is supplementary-- it all ties together well. Enjoyed the seminars and the paper was not too bad.
Overall a n amazing lecturer. He can be unorganized sometimes but he makes the class very interesting. The course is not too difficult and tense if you attend all lectures and seminars.
I knew nothing about Politics before taking Paul's class. I was afraid taking Poli Sci because of my lack of knowledge which would lead me to fail the course. However he made the class not difficult and was very helpful in answering questions I had during office hours. The midterm is easy as long as you read the textbook.
Paul is a fantastic choice for both political science majors and non-majors. The course graded on a few things; 15% seminars, 25% midterm, 25% term paper, 35% final. His lectures are interesting and he is a very easygoing and knowledgeable professor. Exams are relatively easy given you review both the notes and the textbook. Great professor.
The best professor I had at Langara! Took POLI 1119 and 2250 with him!
Great teacher I would recommend to take class , great guy friendly , lectures awesome.
Best instructor in Langara. Great recommendation.
Paul is a great prof who is passionate about politics. He frames the course with timely topics to keep things interesting. Attendance is mandatory for seminars only. The textbook is only used for the first half of the course. The latter half is based on his lectures and assigned journal articles only. He does ramble a little bit in lectures though.
Paul knows a lot about political science, and he supplements his lectures with his own take on material being discussed. However, course is lecture heavy, and discussions are not as open as I would like (mostly him, my opinion didn't really feel welcome). Seminar series the closest thing to the immersive experience. All that said, will not repeat.
He is a very patient and funny professor. If you attend is class daily, you will get a good grade in his class.
An amazing professor. The class is very easy if you participate and attend class.
Great prof, easy to listen to and very clear. Graded on midterm, large term paper, and final, plus a few attendance-based discussions. Pretty easy concepts also. He doesn't post the slides so you have to show up to take notes but his lectures are entertaining. Could ask the class more questions but otherwise has good stuff to say.
Prosperi is by far the best prof I've ever had. He really helps you and is accessible outside of class. He really cares about his students passing and will do what he can to get you through it! Political science is outside of my interest but I deffinitely miss class with him!
Paul is best instructor. You will be graded on few things:- midterm, seminars- worth 15%, term paper and final. Paul can help you in anyway he can. His classes are very interesting . You need to focus mainly on the term paper in which he wants argumentative style. Overall highly recommend.
Paul is an amiable and informative professor. You can tell he's very passionate about politics and will do his best to share the passion with the students. His assignments and quizzes were very fair and straightforward. 10/10 recommended!
Paul is awesome!!! He maintains a professional impartiality and managed to make a dry course on Canadian Political Institutions really entertaining and fun. I enjoyed his lectures, although he does get sidetracked sometimes. The term paper is no joke, he will set you up for success but it's on you to grind out your research and get feedback early.
Honestly the best part of this class was Paul he's super nice and caring, he's also a super fair marker. Just get the information down and you will do good, you get good information out of lectures, he explains terms out of the textbook pretty well. the two writing assignments where more challenging but he is very open on assisting.
Dr. Prosperi should be used as a role for all the poli course professors everywhere! His lectures are so appealing and delightful to listen to. Hilarious dad jokes in lectures. He relates the material to his personal experience as a story, which in my experience makes it easier to understand and remember. Take as many classes with him as you can.
Pauls lectures are filled with dad jokes and stories relating to the lecture. Read the book and listen to what he says and youll pass. I did bad on my first writing assignment, I signed up for a meeting to get feedback and got an A on my second one bc he helped so much. Best part is that hes unbiased in a class full of biased students :) HA!
Dr. Prosperi is a peach. He is very accessible and a wonderful professor. Take his course. Its a great GPA booster. You would get a lot of dad jokes.
He was a great prof for an intro class. The feedback he left for the first paper helped a lot for my second paper, which turned out great.
Paul was amazing and so supportive! I was in quite a small class and he took the time to get to know each student and really cared overall about getting the best grade possible. The briefing notes were a bit challenging because he didn't give clear formatting techniques and that lowered my grade. Overall a great professor and would take his class.
Really nice and super funny guy, somehow makes boring lectures interesting through stories and personal notes. Expects students to read a lot and attend class because he doesn't post lectures online. Quizzes were pretty tricky and he's a decently hard marker.
Paul is definitely one of the best. His deep knowledge and understanding of poli sci and his ability to adjust his teaching with students reaction is unparalleled. I do not think that he's a hard marker, and he wants everyone to succeed in his class. Though he sometimes slacks a bit and not teaching the full content and let us go home early.
Dr Prosperi tries to make this politics entry level course more interesting than it is. You can get a decent grade provided that you are prepared to do the following: 1. attend to his class 2. read the textbook 3. writing meaningful 2-page-long briefing notes. Most important thing is: even you don't get an A in this class, you won't regret
He made me into politics. His teaching style is fantastic. He graded based on the effort that the student put into the classroom. Tbh, he is the only prof that not biased that I've met so far. So, I 100% recommend taking his class. BEST
Wow, really didn't think I would do well in his class but he made all his lectures entertaining and the exams, quizzes, and essay achievable as long as you attended classes, took notes, and put effort into it! Really enjoyed his teaching style and I feel like I actually learned about Canadian politics and government.
Very kind instructor, willing to give extensions and similar if substantiation is provided. Guidelines were totally clear, you just need to read the material and prepare accordingly/do the work. Laid back atmosphere. If you understand the textbook readings, attendance is not mandatory (except for scheduled discussions/quizzes).
Very kind prof. I took poli 1100 & 1119 with him. Attendance isn't mandatory but he doesn't post the slides online. 2 quizzes per term. Exams are right out of the textbook and it has flashcards which I studied from and aced the exams. Usually, he assigns an essay/ brief which is a bit tougher but he'll offer help if you ask.
Great prof. Attendance is not mandatory but in class Dr. Prosperi will give some hints about what will be on exams.
The best instructor I have had at Langara
Paul is a good professor and given you lots of info during lecture. You will get good grade if you attend the class, read the textbook and take note.
Awesome proffessor. Enjoyed his lectures so much. Just show up to the class, take notes, listen and read the textbook and you will get a good grade. Paul is very understanding about deadlines and homework. 100% recommend.
Dr Prosperi is one of the best professors you can meet. His exams are right out from the book. His quiz can be tricky at times. Besides knowledge, he provides you a sense of what it is to go to post secondary institution. Hard work and passion in what you learn, you will be successful. Good luck.
Great prof. Course didn't have a traditional research paper, instead there are 2 smaller governmental report type papers. If you pay attention in class, keep up with the textbook, and review you'll succeed on the exams. He doesn't waste your time for 2 hours, just zooms through with a 90 minute (or less lecture) with no break.
Paul is an engaging prof who makes dry topics interesting. Attend class, do the readings, and use resources like Unstuck ai to succeed. The workload is manageable with effort.
Just amazing. Funny, nice, and patient. He really cares and although not the fastest grader, he gives amazing feedback and is really accommodating. I wish I am majoring in POLI so I can take more of his classes. I am begging you to take his class.
While his grading is tough, Dr. Prosperi is upfront with his expectations. You must read to do well, and his grading is based on 2 papers, 2 quizzes, a midterm and a final. The workload isn't bad, apart from a lot of reading! He wants to see students succeed and is very invested in politics. He's a great prof — just don't hand things in late!
I really enjoyed this class; he's much more invested in his Canadian class rather than the Intro class, and explains concepts a lot more. Be prepared to read and take lots of notes. His grading is between 2 papers, 2 quizzes, the midterm and final, so it's pretty light. Come in ready to learn, and you'll be fine.
i mean hes alright
very informative lectures, pretty clear with what he expects for each assignment so as long as you follow those guidelines youll do fine
