So much fun! Make friends with him on the first day if you can; he's very friendly and helpful if you go to him with problems.
BAD!, thank goodness the class was easy
he never helped me in class and would not explain anything to me when i did ask i hated his class and him but he does have good political views
Really good teacher. Wants the best out of the students! Assignments are really hard, buy it's worth it if you try.
I really like Mr. Resnick. I took an online Lit class with him and was really impressed. He helped me out when I had trouble with my computer and if you do the homework, easy A.
Nice guy, teaches fairly well. His assignments are very easy compared to my comp110 class. Easy A.
This class was great compared to 110 class which I hated. He was really nice and helpful in class. I emailed him a few times and he always responded quickly.
Great teacher. very good with explaining things. Very helpful. Really cool guy. I wish i passed his class the first time, but I rarely made an appearance in class. But yet he still helped me and he let me turn in papers late for some credit. This guy was probably the coolest teacher I had.
nice guy--but too much work if you're a full time student
CLASS WAS EASY-JUST DO THE ASSIGNMENTS AND WILL PASS-WILLING TO WORK WITH YOU IF YOU ARE WILLING TO DO WORK REQUIRED.
Outstanding teacher, you do a lot of papers but they are easy.
Seemed like a good professor during the first few weeks. The two days before the last paper is due shuts down the discussion areas so that you can't add any new comments and get points. That same day, he announced the date of the final had been changed, from a week after the last paper was due to the DAY after it was due.
Discussion questions were easy. But his papers were really hard. You'll be fine if you work hard.
Mr. Resnick ROCKS! I would take him for another class in a minute. He is very clear about what he wants and gives many opp for revisions. He is more than fair in grading. Good guy for a bad class.
THE MOST FRUSTRATING MAN ON EARTH! I don't know about everybody else but...I personally like to get A's in my classes;impossible with him. In my ENG 110 class i only got one B on a paper and the rest were A's & I still have yet to get an A in his class. He wants you to do things EXACTLY how he would do them,no matter what.
A really nice guy, and a pretty easy teacher. He really enjoys film, and does his best to make it fun. We watched a variety of movies, and they were all pretty good.
Semester started out confusing & frustrating - he isn't terribly clear with verbal instructions, but once he got our assignments up on blackboard, we were on a roll! He's a tough grader, but if you put forth 100%, you'll be rewarded. He's a college prof & expects you to be able to write like a college student! He expects a lot, but very fair!
I hated this class. Didnt like him very well. Wasnt clear on what he wanted us to do. He seemed to pick favorites in his class. I hated this class so much. I will never take a class with him again!
HE IS THE MOST ANYING TEACHER EVER!! 111 is supposed to be an opinon class, not a write what the teacher says is the right way to think. In 110 I got A's on every paper and in his class I got a B no matter what. You won't come out of his class with anything but a headache. He misplaced several of my papers. Stressful class.
Test were ridiculous and didn't really seem like he did much teaching. We just read the work assigned. He didn't add notes or even a hint at main points we should get.
Took online class from him over the summer and had no problem. Did 4 essays and final. I emailed him several times for help and he always got back right away. I thought his grading was fair. I am taking his Lit class in the fall
He was extremely helpful and always responded to e-mails as quickly as possible. He grades fairly and quickly. Reading assignments were actually good, although time consuming. Do not take the class if you aren't willing to read. Only complaint would be that the discussion boards should be used more...making them mandatory would have been helpful.
um this guy cant do math... nuff said
The papers he has you write are very easy. If you put just a little effort into it you will get an A. Much easier than my ENGL 110 teacher. He gives you all the time you need to complete your papers in class. Very little work done outside of class.
Nice enough guy, kinda creepy. Overall papers are pretty easy, gives plenty of in class time to work on papers. Has mandatory 1 on 1 conferences
Does not return emails and if you have private business don't plan on it being private. Does not explain what he wants for a paper and then changes it every class. Very condesending
Is not very helpful and has strange mood swings will never take anthor class with him.
i agree with some of the prior comments. if you have something personal going on, it does not stay personal. he also changes the syaalbus WHEN YOU WALK INTO THE CLASS. his math is not the best. make sure you always recheck your grades. he'll atttempt to take attendance about the first month of class, but after that he loses interest.
I understand when a teacher grades tough, but this man is ridiculous. I have taken a film class, theatre class, and have been through English 111, and he tells me I have no idea what theme means. Dreadful. I won't take another class with him either.
This class was a internet class. The grading was completely ridiculous. An A in this class is not possible as far as I know.
But if you could see the way his eyes sparkle and hear his laugh, you would change your mind.
This professor seems okay at first, but he is extremely annoying. He assigns homework to a little book that I learned nothing from. He assumes that everyone always understands, and hates to repeat. He doesn't explain anything well!! Most of the papers we did NO ONE knew what we were supposed to write.
By far the easiest A! Couple of assignments and have to read The Great Gatsby but a great class! I learned more than I ever expected to! Very helpful!
Take this class with someone else if you can. I couldn't please this guy no matter how hard I tried. FYI; It was an internet class.
Generally pretty easy. Very nice guy and willing to explain things. Some assignments were a bit unclear as to what he expected, but I still never got lower than an 88 on an assignment. Less papers than some other teachers from what I hear, which I liked. Would recommend to others.
He is very helpful and his class is extremely easy unless you make it hard for yourself. The papers aren't that difficult if you stay on top of whats due. He assigns maybe 4 papers for the semester.
Good teacher. Assignments are not overwhelming. Largest paper was 5 pages long but most were 2-3. He grades fairly and is willing to reconsider a grade if you approach him. Never got lower than a 90 on any paper and barely tried. The only hard part of this class is making sure you allot yourself time to write the papers.
Wasn't very helpful with the papers as far as the online classes are concerned. Knocked off points for going over the recommended number of pages and didn't really explain what was done wrong.
He is a great teacher. At first I was overwhelmed but overall he is very helpful. He has variety in his assignments. He does dock points if your paper exceeds the length requirement. He grades fairly. I never received lower than a 92% on my papers. There are a few assignments in class but they are not that hard.
He was an awesome teacher, his assignments weren't necessarily easy but he always was extremely helpful. I recommend him to anyone!
I found this class pretty easy, but I also have a strong English and paper writing background. Paul is very personable, but I don't feel like he gave very clear expectations of our papers.
Paul needs to reevaluate his teaching methods. All the does is talk nonsense the entire class and assigns unclear assignments and gets upset when no one has them to turn in. He seems to be a teacher who takes pride in putting people down. I wouldn't recommend him at all, especially to people who are taking 15+ credit hours.
I thought Paul was a great teacher. I hate writing and struggled in Comp 110, but Paul gave me great grades on all my work. He rarely lets class out early, which is a bummer. Sometimes his directions are a bit fuzzy, but I asked questions if I was confused and he was very helpful! Definitely would recommend him overall!
Paul Resnick was very unclear a lot of the times when he gave out homework. He also likes to pick on you during class and ask you a lot of questions. I don't think he was very helpful when you asked for help. I would recommend finding a different teacher.
Took this as an online class during the summer. Very organized, and straight forward with an ample amount of time to do it in for a summer course. He gives you everything you need, notes, links, etc. Watch the films and write your responses can be anything you want to write super easy pts. great class awesome prof. Highly recommend!!!!
I was not fond of this teacher one bit. He never explained things well and was never clear on directions and would expect you to understand what you were supposed to do. He got mad when things were late even though nobody knew anything about the assignment. He also took points off if u went even just one line over the paper page limit. Ridiculous
He gives you plenty of time to read the material and do the test before it is due. He is not helpful at all. I emailed him because I was having difficulty understanding a book and his exact words were, "Just keep reading, it'll get better." I did this and I ended up getting a C on a paper because I didn't understand the book. Would NOT recommend!!
Prof. Resnick is THA BOMB. He knows so much about the material and is always willing to help. I've never been that good of a student, and I was scared to take this class. I tried to take this class before but always had about 205 excuses to get out of it until now. I'm glad that I waited. I would defiantly recommend this instructor.
Mr. Resnick means well, he really does. He's very hard to follow though. His guidelines are unclear and if you email him he may respond, but his response is likely to disregard your question entirely.
So I would take Mr. R 205 more times. He is that good. He sticks with the material and really teaches. He cares. He even holds the babies of his students if they have to bring them in. Plus, truth be told, his assignments are hard but he gives you the help you need. Take him!
True Talk: Resnick has a way with words. He cares about his students. He told us once in any year he has 205 students to teach, but each one he knows and will help. English was never my strong subject, but he got me through it. I'm transferring to Normal in the fall and will miss this guys laugh. He is cute too
My friend Kristen and I took Prof.Resnick together and we both had a great semester. There was one girl who was struggling and Paul actually stopped class to talk to her. He is so nice and intelligent. I would walk 3 miles home after not finding a cab with him if I had to. That is saying something. Kristen and I both agree Resnick is the best
Fantastic online class. Very clear directions, gives ample time to do your work. He's usually pretty quick to email you back if you have any questions. His tests are fair and the other work he has you do is pretty simple. Not the best introduction to film on the planet (he makes you watch a TV movie for some reason), but a great online class.
He likes things his way and he doesn't like anyone who thinks differently than him.
Really ridiculous when it comes to grading. You can answer the entire question and get an 8 out of 10 because he wants more but doesn't ask for it. I have a 4.0 and I may lose it because he doesn't understand that taking off on every answer makes it impossible to get an A on anything.
The class itself was easy- it was a summer course and we had 2 weeks to do each unit. So, that was awesome. However, I emailed him once that I was having trouble with Blackboard and he said "ok." He never talked to any of us once class started- no announcements/etc. Boring class. & He grades HARD & doesn't tell you why/what was wrong offer help.
Dr. Resnick was my online lit professor. He was super helpful and kept up with the grading. I felt like he was as good as the prof I had from Grand Rapids. In fact, better. We read Bobby Jo Campbell's book about chickens and it was awesome. The description she goes into about feet and heart. Dr. Resnick took his time to explain to his online class.
Easy, simple assignments. Added helpful comments to your film journals. Standard final paper at the end. If you're quite busy with a job or other classes, it can be difficult to complete all the work. Especially the final paper that felt squeezed in at the end.
Mr. Resnick's Literature 110 class was great! He helped me when family issues were in the way. I recommend him!
I really enjoyed this class. Even with all my other classes and other commitments this class was possible. Only need about a couple hours a week for this class
He tends to get off topic at points but he always gets to his point. He adds a bit of laughter to class. But be prepared to write. A lot. However I would take his class again
Easy class for me. This is my first college class and I have received A's on all the papers so far. Mr Resnick can be a little boring and monotone at times, but he is very nice and lenient. All papers were only 4 pages and we had plenty of time to complete them. The class felt a lot like highschool.
Super easy class. I had a lot of fun reading stories, plays, poems, and more. He made the online atmosphere easy to follow. Even when my computer messed up on me during a test. He said I could email the answers to him. He only needs to touch up on his email game though.
I took this class online, and it was a lot of reading. You are required to read short stories, poems, and a novel. You do discussion posts, quizzes, and exams on each part. There also were a few papers. This was a decent class, but was a lot to do. I always had homework. Make sure you know the material before you take a quiz.
He is a tough grader, but you can redo assignments and he tells what to change. Good teacher overall.
I took this as an online summer class, so I can't really rate his teaching ability. All the tools to write "A" papers were given to us and all of the assignments were clear. A lot of papers to cram in over 8 weeks, but very doable. Mr. Resnick did a great job of critiquing papers back and forth until you got them right so you could get an A.
Overall a good class. Gives plenty of time to complete each section, but I would advise starting the work early. It's easy to forget and then try to cram it in last second. He's a kind person and I liked the class.
Professor Resnick was a very good professor. He gave you excellent feedback on your papers and tells you what to fix. He is great at emailing back and he will help you with anything you need. I would recommend taking him.
A wonderful, caring Professor. I would recommend taking his classes!
Overall the class was an easy A and he was a pretty cool guy. My only complaint would be that if he didnt agree on a topic for an argumentative paper, your grade would automatically reflect that he didnt have the same viewpoint as you, which could be very frustrating. I would recommend choosing topics that you know he likes to get good grades.
Grades based on thinking similar to him. Close minded.
Clear and organized instructions for each unit. Lets you turn things in early. Accessible through email. Offers extra credit. Is willing to work with students on grades. Quizzes are not on Quizlet so you have to read the assigned chapters for quizzes and tests.
Paul gives one due date a month for assignments. This can be really frustrating when you have a ton of other classes and have a lot of homework, but then you realize "oh shoot I have 13 things for film due at 7am tomorrow." If you can stay on top of things and get everything done early, then I guess this is good for you. But personally I hated it.
Just awful. You can follow an assignment perfectly, but points will be taken off for unspecified reasons. I even met with him outside of class and he was just super unhelpful, and didn't care that I was struggling to know what his standards were. Do not take this professor. Probably the worst English professor as far as fairness of grading.
There's a lot of reading and writing, but examples are given on all assignments and he goes over what you need to do. Also gives good feedback on papers.
I think this class was not too difficult. There was a lot of reading and the test could be hard but otherwise the homework was easy. The test are only hard if you do not read and do not try. I thought this was a great easy course to take for the summer
He is awful for film 110. He is not flexible at all, even with covid. One of the worst teachers I have ever had. Film 110 is very test-heavy. If you miss a test he will not let you retake even if you have issues with the internet.
One of the best professors I've had! There were 4 units and you were given 4 weeks to complete each of them. More than enough time to complete tests and quizzes. Very responsive to emails. Grading was clear. Only downfall I can think of is don't wait until the last minute to do the assignments.
he is a good professor. The class was pretty straight forward. If you read the material he gives out then you will do fine! I am not a huge fan of reading but this class was pretty tolerable. There were short quizzes after each section and the final was a four page paper (double spaced) over the novel we read. Overall was a good class!
Good guy, good professor. He's willing to work with you and help you improve
Took his class during covid and he was not flexible at all with tests. He would not have link up to take exams and then not let you take them once the deadline passed even though it wasn't possible to take them
