Easy on the eyes! Very Helpful. Knowss what he is talking about. Cool, and always pleasant. Never has bad days. He does give alot of quizzes but they are to the students advantage. Will take again.

I've always hated chemistry (still do), but I love this class. Dr. Root makes it fun and interesting. Lots of work, lots of quizzes, tough exams. If you keep up, you'll do fine. Plus Dr. Root is really hot

This is by far the best teacher at Hfcc in the science building. He actually makes Chemistry enjoyable. Just an awsome personality( soo cute and sweet too. His wife is lucky!!!)

He is a great professor. The class seemed especially difficult the first half (tests were impossibly hard), and then got much easier the second half. He is very clear, gives lots of examples, and is very patient. He is always available for extra help or any questions you may have. Highly recommended!!

He is very helpful, and patient. I took the 7 wk course and got an A-. Knows what he is doing and gives great examples. Take him. We didn't use the textbook in class nor did we really take notes but get it. You will also need OWL. That is where we did our homework. If you have to take Chem then take it with him. He will help you so much.

Mr. Root is the best teacher i've ever had in my life!! If are thinking of taking him I say to you....YOU ARE A FOOL IF YOU DON'T!!! His class is sooo much fun and very enjoyable even if you don't like chemistry.

I think he was a good teacher. He is laid back and a nice person. The only thing is that he always made exams harder than they needed to be. The good thing is that you will rarely use the textbook, so don't get it. You can rely on the notes.

Brilliant. Chemistry genius. Explains things clearly but has a tendency to talk a little fast. Never gets confused or says anything inaccurate. Good, helpful in lab. Very willing to answer questions. Hard tests, but if you work you will do ok. Very nice man, dry wit, very cute, married with two kids. Sane, not egotistical.

Great teacher. This is a super hard class but its not impossible. Dont buy the book. He gives power point notes. He also gives up to 10 extra points on tests. He let us take home the quizes for the spring semester until ppl started copying off eachother. Labs are fun and interesting. Hes also kinda cute! I got an A+ in the class. Good luck.

Professor Root is awesome! He is always prepared, always on time. His calm demeanor and direct teaching style helped me to relax. He gives great lectures and labs are relevant and interesting. Chm 132 is hard, it is a lot of info that you cant obtain by osmossis alone. It requires a lot of studying and a professor like Dr. Root!

Any one who has a negative comment on Dr. Root does not belong in College. He is one of the best teachers at HFCC for a number of reasons. He fells more like a buddy to me then a teacher.

Dr. Root is a fair teacher. Organic Chem is a hard class and you must study very hard. Root is always avail and willing to help. If you try hard and he knows it, he goes easy on the grading. He gives extra point sometimes and computer work is not optional to understand the info. some say there is a curve, lol.

I took this class in the spring, it goes fast but it is a interesting class and Mr. Root teaches the subject well. Just study for the tests and do all the assignments and you should do well. I got a A-.

Hard class-but he makes it fun!Sit up front - he is quiet-but he is hysterical if u catch his jokes.I hate chem, but I am so sad for this class to end.I would totally recommend him to anyone who has the unfortunate task of taking chem 132. I did get an A- in this class. He pretty much reads his handouts he gives to you but he knows what he is talking about. Knowledgeable about the subject matter, better plan on studying hard yourself for the class. But tests are not that hard, lab is easy too. Reviews a lot and helps you out if you ask. Good teacher

From reading the comments below, the only thing most students say about Dr. Root is that girls think he's cute and funny. The part that they leave out is that he is an AMAZING teacher. His handouts are very clear and understandable, he is very helpful if you go see him during office hours, and he really cares about his students. I can't say enough!

Dr. Root was an amazing instructor. I took 131 with Williams and struggled. Dr. Root was informative, thorough and funny. Labs were easy, he was liberal with points. Gave lots of practice questions, reviewed all the time. Truely a great instructor. I didnt use the book a lot mainly went off his power points and got a B+. Def. should take dr. root!

Dr. Root is a very helpful teacher! To people who feel he is indifferent towards his students my best advice is to go to his office hours. The material can be tough but he will take the time to help you comprehend it. As long as you do not wait until the end of the semester to seek his help you will do great, good luck! :)

Dr. Root is probably one of the best science teachers I've had at hfcc. He's really knowledgeable about chemistry and helpful in lab. Definitely not a blow off though. His tests are challenging but as long as you study, you should do fine. He also drops the lowest test score which helps.

Biochem isn't an easy class. Dr. Root is good at explaining the material. He's a very smart man. Don't buy the book. Study off of his powerpoint notes. And yes, he's very cute :)

A great intelligent teacher. I took Proteins Lab with him, the course is not easy because you should depend on your self during most of the lab work. You have to be interested in proteins to get the most of doctor Root. He is the right person to teach this class. Got an A :D

well what can i say about p root. well i shall say hes a great teacher. some did not like his jokes but i did. i had him for am class and pm lab. he knows his stuff but u must study. chem 132 was not a blow off. if he says know this you but ur butt off its going to be on the test. take p root if u have to take 132..

If you take notes and pay attention in class, you should have no problem getting at least an A or B. Quizzes were take home and tests weren't too bad, as long as you study.

best teacher ever 3 midterm exam worth40% and the final exam worth 25% of the grade, the owl hw 10% the lab 25% no attendance and no book he has all the material on the campass.

He is a great teacher. He explains things clearly and is always available to help. Don't be afraid to ask questions. That being said, you still have to study. Don't expect his class to be easy, he does expect you to learn the material.

If you are a serious student willing to learn, he is the teacher to take. I was scared to take CHEM132 after having CHEM131 a whole 2 years ago. He makes things so simple to understand and uses a lot of color with his notes. You are not required to have OWL and don't use the book. Go off his notes and powerpoints. Can't say enough good things!

Dr. Root was only my professor for lab, but he got right to the point and let us get into our labs so we could get in and out. He was very helpful and explained everything very clearly, there was no possible way you could make a mistake unless obviously you weren't paying any attention to him.

Easily one of my favorite professors at HFCC. Dry wit and sense of humor that kept the class laughing throughout the semester. Runs the department and knows his stuff. Was always available for any questions I had. Only used the book for studying, classes were run from powerpoints, so be sure to attend.

This is the best professor to take for chem 132. He explains everything with problems. His tests are exactly what he explains in class nothing is a surprise. No owl homework. He assigns hw that's due before the test.

I was scared to take this course as I hadn't had a chemistry class in over 20 years & hadn't been in college in 17. He is very clear & will answer questions during class or after & has office hours. Only Neg -TONS of online homework, but only worth 10% of your grade. No quizzes, no assignments other than labs & only 4 tests, so make em count!

Mr. Root gives great test study guides, power points and his class is basically working on EXACTLY what you need for the test. He will start doing the problems on the study guide make sure to take very clear notes its essential. He talks really fast but you just have to stay focused you'll be fine. Hes also really funny and takes questions.

Dr. Root's class was very enjoyable. His lectures are filled with examples, and he encourages questions. Take time to print out the sample questions and follow along while he does them in class. Notes are important (especially for the math problems). He's very funny and easy going.

Dr. Root is absolutely one of the greatest professors at Henry ford college for chemistry. Personally I'm not a big fan of chemistry at all but, Dr. Root made the class and material extremely simple. Labs are a breeze, assignments are str8 forward, and exams are based off of the assignments and moodle room practice questions. I received an A-

I absolutely hated Chem 131 and thought 132 was going to be way worse. This class isn't easy and has a lot of material but Professor Roots teaching style makes this class 100X easier to understand and remember. do not skip class because you will definitely fall behind. He gives out study guides and lets you know exactly what to expect on the exams

I was really nervous taking this class just because it was his first time teaching this course, but he truly is so awesome! Really cool and nice. He was kind of all over the place in the beginning because it was his first time teaching the class but it turned out pretty good! 3exams and couple "pop quizzes" & study guides before exams!

Seasoned Critical Care RN w/ dual Bachelor needing prerequisite for CRNA. Hands down, bar none, the BEST Professor that Henry Ford College has. Very challenging course. Dr. Root is of the best proffesors in HFC. Hes so caring, because we had it online and lab in campus. Lecture were all his own videos and power point. He honestly made organic chem so much easier. You have to know how to study on your own. Was a very polite professor and made the class so easy. Even the labs were very interesting. Actually forgot to tell us about the final essay and this angel dropped it rather than rushing us. Loved his class and it left such an impact on me that I literally changed majors

Dr. Root is respectful to you as long as you respect him. He will let you review your exams, and the tests are very fair and cover what he covers in the lecture. The class is fair, but it doesn't mean it's super easy, you still need to work hard for your grade. But you usually end up getting the grade you deserve.

Originally I was worried about taking an organic chemistry course as I heard it was very difficult however this class was quite the opposite. His lectures are very easy to understand and he provides many examples. As long as you pay attention in class you will not need to do much studying outside of class. The best, I did not know I love chemistry that much until I took his class. you do not want his lecture to be over. He explains everything clearly answers questions and makes everything look easy. You do not have to study a lot for exams if you attend lectures. Just take notes. Notes are the key to success in his course. I very much recommend him

Its mostly all slides and his exams are so EASY because he provides study guides and yes whatever is on the study guide is ON THE EXAM. His online HW is a little challenging but fair. The best chemistry instructor even compared to universities away from Henry ford. He makes chemistry fun and so easy to understand. He will help you before, during, and after class whether with lecture or lab inquiries. I took him for chemistry 141 lab, although there were many quizzes and lab reports, it was a great course with him.

Dr.Root is very chill. He teaches really well and is always willing to help whenever. He offers extra credit on every exam and they're very easy. The only thing is that he gives quizzes every week, it was a bit frustrating but helped a lot when it came time for exams since you'll already know most of the material.

Be prepared to take HEAVY notes. This class is difficult overall so make sure to not fall behind. FOCUS in lab because half of it is test material and be prepared for the quizzes. Study and review notes and you'll be fine. Dr Root is an amazing professor and I would retake him if I could. He's very kind and cares if you pass. BEST extra credit!!!

This professor was really amazing. I took this class expecting it to be really hard but he made it really easy. He goes over so many practice problems in class and really understands what things might be confusing. He let us correct our exams to get more points! Try to go to all lectures though because he gives quizzes almost every week. Recommend!
