YOU ARE DA MAN!!!!
Dr. Schaefer is awesome!!!!
Dr. Schaefer is very learned , hilarious, and lots of fun!
Great prof. LOVED the class.
I have soo much respect for the man. seriously one of the coolest.
i didn't like this class...to random
The man is definitely brilliant!! If you like religion, take his classes!!
Great professor. Very knowledgeable BUT don't expect to get through the syllabus
He never gets through all the material he wants b/c his lectures get so thorough
Never a dull moment in this guy's class! He makes the material so interesting.
ehh.....i'd rather not
Looks like Drew Carey and is just as cool!
Such a good professor, extremely interesting, very encouraging to student comments. Very knowledgable. Take as many classes with him as you can. Some overlap within them, but all really good.
He makes the material come to life and makes the material relevant to today.
Awesome Prof! Great guy! Interesting and knowledgeable!!! He's smart, he's sweet, he's a genuine intelligent teddy bear! Take him for as many classes as possible! His material can overlap, but you'll have that. He is on the ball now w/ schedule & al
Good heavens. This prof knows his stuff, and does a wonderful job of conveying his vast knowledge to his students.

Amazing, I simply sit back and listen in awe.
Very enjoyable professor to have.
Awesome on the reformation, knows tons about Martin Luther, accepts varying viewpoints, believes in Scripture above all and is very open minded to people's offerings (papers, essays, etc). Very funny too.
Very cool guy, passionate about intellectual inquiry. You will learn a wealth of information in his classes. A true expert in religious studies, offers his opinion but doesn't toot his own horn.
I had him during his first year. I'm glad to see he's still there. He helped me out immeasurably.
Two words, Duie Latta
I despise the bible and I am not a Christian, but this man is a fabulous teacher. He made Bib Rev interesting by being knowledgable, enthusiastic (note the pit stains in class), and open-minded.
I know a lot of people like him, but I can't figure it out. He doesn't test you on what he talks about in class, and he can be rude and un-helpful when you see him outside of class. I think he mixes too much Simpsons, Frasier, and Seinfeld with religion.
hyperactively intelligent. he got bored one day, so he went to oxford and got another doctorate. you think i'm kidding. lectures are organized in their own special way...i recommend just sitting back and taking it all in; take notes on key terms.
generous, kind-hearted man who truly does reflect Christ in all he does, very gracious
An all-around good guy and a good teacher, but I can't figure out why some people think he's so incredible. A bit disorganized - has been known to test on material he hasn't taught.
super smart guy but he rambles in class about monty python and other things of no impotance to the test. not a huge fan.
Very good. One of those professors who is interesting and makes you learn without being hard and stressful. Slightly disorganized and tangential, but very engaging. I'm so glad I got Schaeffer!
Funny, engaging, very knowledgeable, talented teacher, he gives amazingly thorough treatments, omitting no key thinker and making a wealth of material manageable. He's extremely passionate but sometimes his passions for the argument, the faith, and the student personally result in unprofessionalism.
Enthusiastic and helpful. I'd say he's brillliant.
One of my favorite professors! He's a bit tangential and obsessed with Monty Python, but other than that he's one of the most helpful, kind and generous people I have ever met. His test are pretty easy if you just pay attention in class-he's more concerned with actually teaching than giving tests.
I LOVE Dr. Schaefer!!! He's one of the coolest people I've met at GCC yet. The lectures are very interesting though he has a tendency to be a bit repetative. Quizes are very easy; exams aren't bad at all if you stay half awake for the lectures
Wow! Dr. Schaefer took an old-school subject and made it accessible to us young, hip gangstahs. He's a nice guy, too. One of my favorite professors ever....
Wonderful Prof and person!
GREAT. His Bib Rev midterm was crazy and cost me an A, but only complaint over 2 semesters. And an A- from Schaefer is still alright because his class is awesome. If you don't know much of the Bible, you'll learn a lot. If you do know already, you'll still have fun listening to him sing + joke.
if you dont find him interesting, he still makes his class easy. He expects you to like learning, and rewards you because you're in his class. Will give you bonus points readily; and reveiw quizes before you take them. Also, orange hair, OWW! Get him to do his scottish accent. mmm.
The way Schafer manages to pass on so much information in such an entertaining way is amazing. No one should be allowed to graduate from GCC without taking at least one of his classes. Schafer is the personified definition of Christian scholar. So smart, so funny, so easy. Great Prof!
He is awesome and very into what he does. He is the most helpfull prof. I have ever had. Take him for everything that you can get. He tells you answers to his quizzes if you ask before it. Awesome guy and fun class.
Easy quizzes, hard tests, doesn't take attendance-- skip this class!!
I took Schaefer for every class I possibly could, even going on the Reformation trip with him and Bibza. He's a wonderful prof and I enjoyed every class I had with him.
What can I say? Schaefer's da man!!
He made science, faith and technology so much fun! He does crazy impressions and accents and puts everything you need to know on his slides.
He is an amazing professor. I was very blessed to have him and highly recomend him.
Schaefer is amazing!
This guy is hilarious, you can skip class if you want (i missed a quiz, and he still let me make it up) and get the notes off the network.
Very interesting and clear, clearly very knowledgable.
Very entertaining. Gives a lot extra credit - at least one point on the quizzes and sometimes gives you the answers. Kind of annoying that the lectures are so far behind the readings and quizzes - he often gets off-topic. His illustrations are wonderful, though.
One of the greatest profs the world has ever known. Has a way of making you learn without making the class difficult.
Major league stud.
Dr. Schaefer is great.
He is an awesome teacher. He makes learning about the Hebrews, Greeks, and Romans fun! He is really funny and entertaining and passionate about the content he teaches. He's very laid back and always willing to help you out. I learned a lot and it wasn't that hard of a class! He's very clear in his expectations of you too. Great professor!

Funny and serious about what he teaches
Although the official GCC policy is that you have to attend class, you don't really have to go that often with Dr. Schaefer. In BibRev he's pretty easy on you, and even gives bonus points on quizzes for no reason. He's fun and entertaining, but he also is SO intelligent.
Dr. Schaefer is hilarious and brilliant. He's a very easy grader and allows a lot of grace, but you also learn a lot. I'm so sick of people who think that mandatory huma/science classes are useless. They aren't. The smartest people I know are Renaissance men. Know a little about a lot. Dr. Shaefer helps get some of that info into people's brains.
Good teacher highly recommend
I have taken him for Bib. Rev, SSFT and he was awesome. You learn a lot and get a good grade doing it, what's not to like?!
I love Dr Schaefer. He is one of the few professors who is extremely intelligent, helpful, funny, and understandable. He has no suprises on his tests and loves to give random bonuses on his quizzes. Overall, he is one of my favorite professors I have ever had.
He's very engaging in class, relatively easy too. Definitely recommend this guy
Schaefer is awesome
Great prof. Love the class, love the humor, love the information.
Schaefer was as good as advertised. He'll randomly throw something really funny out there just when things start to get boring. Breaks the mold of difficult teachers here who are often unclear in what they want. Just be sure to study the review sheet he gives, because it's based right off the test itself.
Schaefer never took attendance but his exams were based on the lecturers. His exams were also heavily based on the little details of the lectures.
Very entertaining and interesting.
How can you not like Schaefer? Easy class, great guy.
The BEST teacher I have ever had....so caring and understanding, never gets mad, always smiling, plus a really easy class. He stays at the school until 1 in the morning to offer review sessions for students before tests. Also, if you're not feeling prepared on a test, he lets you make it up another day. Incredible teacher-take him for everything.
great guy, easy class
Schaefer is amazing - take him for everything you can. Good lecturer who always does random stuff to keep things interesting, and his test/quizzes are easy. Not to mention he slightly resembles Winnie the Pooh and has a doctorate from Oxford. What's not to like?
Apart from being a wonderful husband, father, pastor, and human being, Dr. Schaefer is a wonderful professor who truly loves what he does. I have taken him for four classes now and have few other professors whom I admire more.
Dr. Schaefer is hilarious. I think he might be stepping up the difficulty a little from previous years, but he isn?t impossible. He cares about his students and tries to make sure they have a good time in the classroom. He is friendly and quite knowledgeable. I recommend him!
Quite easy course. Gives you study guides that prepare you for exams in their entirety. He is very passionate, and also very comical at times. I definitely recommend. Not hard to get an A. He is very helpful.
Such a sweet prof. Review sessions are a great refresher and very helpful. This class is fairly easy if you put in the time.
Great, enthusiastic professor- he really wants you to succeed and he gets into the material. Quizzes on the reading each week, but tests are only on his lectures. Review sessions + study guides before tests. Hilarious and goofy too- loves Calvin and Hobbes! Definitely would take a class with him again.
Schaefer is boring in lecture. I'd spend the entire class period doing homework for other classes. He loves his Monty Python & he can be pretty funny on a good day. Quizzes are easy as long as you read the chapter. He has review sessions before every test that are very helpful. Overall, I like Schaefer & I'd take classes with him in the future.
Boring as anything in lecture, but worth taking because I spent the whole class time 9gag and took okay notes & i got an 'A' in the class. My friend would go to his office every week before the quiz and he would go over the chapter with her and underline the parts that would be answers on the weekly quiz. Really sweet guy.
Material is on the boring side, but he seems to realize that not everyone is as interested in the subject as he is and does his best to make it interesting. Quizzes are very easy. Tests are reasonable, and are more a matter of memorization than comprehension. Also, he gives out EASY extra-credit opportunities like candy.
Finally! A teacher that doesn't expect you to take a required class and memorize all the concepts that are behind the lectures. His tests are all based on fact. Easy to study for, especially if you go to his review sessions.
Best teacher i've ever had.
quite possibly the nicest teacher I've ever had.
Great professor - Best humanities teacher I've ever had. Easy quizzes, generous grading, but tests are quite difficult. He has study sessions for them, but even so, many people don't anticipate anything hard and fail.
Schaefer is an excellent professor, featuring an intriguing mix of humor, insight, and a remarkably clear and helpful teaching style. Highly recommended.
Dr. Schaefer is my favorite professor at GCC. He is so incredibly kind and compassionate. His tests aren't too hard as long as you study your class notes and do the reading. Overall, he is fantastic!
One of my favorite professors at the school. He truly cares about the students and is willing to help with anything. He understands that all of us in HUMA have to be there and makes it interesting. Love this man and his teaching. Take him if you can. You will need to study for his finals, but they are very fair. Harder than the quizzes though
I would definitely take Schaefer again. He's funny, he showed us Monty Python clips in class and he puts Calvin and Hobbes comics on the quizzes. In terms of difficulty the quizzes are relatively easy if you read the chapter, but the exams you need to study for. He does review sessions before the exams which, with notes, can mean a good grade.
Schaefer is the man to take Huma 101 with. He loves making Monty Python references in the middle of class. Many of his lectures even include video clips. Although class is not mandatory because he does do a final review at the end, I would go to class in case some freak health issue happened to him at the end of a semester. Quizes are cakewalks
Amazing man. Really nice and caring, and fun as well. The tests cover a lot of information, but he provides study guides that outline EXACTLY what is on the tests. He grades the tests easily, but you do have to memorize a lot of information. The "paper" we wrote was just finding sources and writing an outline.
The paper was easy. Lectures are not too engaging but he is a sweet guy. He wants the best for everyone anything. Tests were harder than expected but still easy enough to get a solid B+ A- ( I am an A, A- student). Be ready for quizzes.
It's hard to not love Professor Schaefer. Especially with his fondness for Calvin and Hobbes and his constant references to Monty Python. Everyone loves his HUMA classes since they are fairly easy but you will still have to work for the tests. His classes can be a little boring but he makes up for it by just being a really likable man.
Is great about letting you make up missed quizzes. Very clear about what is required for class project. Very entertaining class, while still staying on the subject. Wants you to pass and will help you to get there.
Schaefer's classes are large sections taking place in Sticht, It was easy to not pay attention. It was interesting material, but the lectures were not. The tests are easy. They're straightforward questions, but there is a lot of material to memorize with tests averaging 100 questions. The quizzes are easy as long as you do the reading.
Pretty boring content area and lectures (there are usually a couple people passed out during his talks), but he's a really passionate guy who tries his best to get students excited about religion. Very willing to talk after class or during office hours, even about non-related material. He wants you to learn a lot and get the best grade possible.
Great prof. had him for Western Civ and it was an enjoyable time, the tests were fairly hard, but he did give fair warning on what would be tested on. A lot of content was given in that class! Overall, 5/5 for the Dr. Schaeffer
Extremely easy class. All of the other professors for this class were tough graders. Schaefer students would work so much less than the others, but we would stilll get much higher grades.
This guy really wants his gen-ed students to succeed. There are weekly reading quizzes but they are not too bad. Extra credit is given on the quizzes and there are numerous extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. He gives you a thorough review guide and has an amazing review session (which is essentially the final exam). Take him!
Dr. Schaefer is possibly the nicest, sweetest man on the planet. There are quizzes nearly every week, but they're fine as long as you have a decent understanding of the reading. Always has a thorough study guide/review for midterms and finals, and the paper assignments for his classes are generally pretty painless. Long live Calvin and Hobbes.
Passionate and profoundly knowledgeable about Scripture. Lectures can be hard to follow sometimes due to wandering slightly off topic, but still an great professor
so boring and i never went to class.
He is a very caring professor that prepares you for both tests. Class is very boring and lecture heavy but he tries to throw fun parts in. The midterm and final were rough but he holds a review session the night before and he basically gives you the test questions.
Great course and a great professor! Dr. Schaefer is a real goofy and fun guy and he truly cares about his students so much. He makes sure that papers and exams/quizzes are easy so that students can focus on gaining a deeper unerstadning of topics rather than simple memorization of correct answers. RELI261 is the perfect mix of fun and enlightening!
Dr. Schaefer was absolutely wonderful. He tells you everything to know for the quizzes and tests ahead of time (including the midterm and final exams), so he hands you all you need, all you need to do is put in the time to do the work. I found myself zoning out of his lectures a few times, but other than that it was great. Puts comics on his PPTs.
