Excellent and knowledable teacher. Totally HOT!
He is easy-going and knowledable. His class is so relaxed.
This is an excellant teacher to take, he is helpful and make sure you understand everything. He grades on a curve which is great also, and offers extra credit. He makes math fun!
His class is not that easy, but he is very helpful. makes jokes during class. He's CUTE!
Great class- you cannot miss a day- he quizes every class meeting at the beginning- so don't be late. Great knowledge of the subject. He loves Math and teaching so it's refreshing learning from him.
This teacher will begin to explain a problem and will not finish it. In my opinion his class was difficult.
4 tests, drops 1 + final. pretty tough class. ITS MATH, CALCULUS! wat do you expect? he's VERY fair. GREAT INSTRUCTOR. quiz @ begining of class. offers ex cred every once in a while. couple pop quizzes too -- only to help your grade though.
He knows his math. Must do HW and come to class. His test are hard. Not an easy class
This teacher is a great teacher. He is thorough throughtout his lectures and makes sure that you understand the material. He is very fair and he gives extra credit.
FAIR TEACHER, DONT MISS A DAY BECAUSE OF DAILY QUIZES. HE'S A BIG SAN DIEGO CHARGERS FAN.
I hadn't taken math is 3 years, and I ended up getting an "A" because he was so helpful! Awesome teacher!! Quiz every day, but they are super EASY (he picks the easiest problems from the homework), mostly points to help your grade. Plus he offers extra credit before the final to those who need it.
Great teacher! Very helpful. Curves every single test. His study guide is exactly like the test. Has 1 quiz each day with the easiest problems from the homework. Plus he offers extra credit at the end of the semester. Take him!
Since he gives quizzes everyday, it is very common to miss out on a lot of lecture time. I spent most of the time learning from the book and other people than from his lectures. His tests are unique and cool. For the final, make sure you go over yur previous tests many times! He's a nice guy; it just sucks that he doesn't cover all the material.
A great teacher. He explains the material in a very direct manner and the homework is online for Math 20, which makes it easier. He is not the least bit intimidating either. I wish I could have him again. I highly recommend Mr. Sjoberg.
He's pretty organized and tells you exactly what needs to be done, but sometimes he can get confusing with his lectures...toward the end of the semester the class moved pretty fast..make sure you do and UNDERSTAND the homeworks...they are essential in getting a good grade in the class.
he would often get lost in his lectures so he ends up lecturing the very basics. But his tests are way more indepth than what he lectures so it made many students get angry, then he would admitt that he gave out the hard problem wtf?? gives way too much homework also..so don't take him
Mr. Sjoberg is a nice person but as a teacher I felt that he lacked in clarity. I know geometry is a hard subjuct but most of my class mates did not pass, about ten students were left. The text book he uses is not helpful what so ever, and his lecture notes are just as bad.
Tests are really easy because he tells you exactly what type of problems there are going to be. Averages the top 3 tests grades for his curve. Explains things very clearly. Final replaces lowest test score- the only hard part is memorizing all of the equations, but that is nothing to do with his teaching. Really laid back
He teaches bottom to top if you have a questions you should go his office hour and ask him his quizzes are really easy if you do the H.W done, and test also. most of all he is easy grader! you should take him for 150A
He's a great instructor, about the class, it's very DO-ABLE, not hard at all. What do you expect from this level of math? A piece of cake? no way!Tests are easy as long as you STUDY!!! He also curves, so its not that bad. Final is right from the previous tests. Also willing to help his students! Highly recommended for those you want to really LEARN!
Mr. Sjoberg is by far one of the most approachable instructors I have ever had. Never made me feel uncomfortable when asking questions, his quizes are easy if you do the homework. Tests are fair since he gives reviews with problems that will be similar to the test. Only downside was homework, it's usually due the next class. Great class altogether
He is fair in his workload requirements and tests, there aren't any surprises. I would definitely recommend him.
take this teacher! he's not tough, and gives chances when needed. drops some quizes at the end and attendance is taken at the begining so ppl left b4 2nd half of class
Good thing I have taken this class before because I use old methods when doing homework and on tests. His methods are complex and a pain. He's pretty unclear with directions and I had to teach myself using online homework examples. He's nice though and good on curving and extending due dates.
Excellent Teacher, class is a breeze the way he teaches it. Xtra credit at the end of the semester very understandable and helpful.
Easy class, very understandable clear about everything. Just attend, do your homework and you should pass he makes the class very simple. The only way you will fail his class, is if you are lazy and dont want to study. If you are that lazy, college isn't for you. 2nd time with this teacher 2 different math classes very easy.
Mr. Sjoberg is a great math teacher! His notes are easy to read and very helpful. Best math teacher at fullerton. A must for any student who doesn't enjoy math. Take him!!
Really good teacher. Very helpful and willing to go over any questions. Grades on weather student understands the material rather then silly mistakes. Still have to work very hard on understanding the material, but Sjoberg explains everything you need to know.
I took 3 classes with this guy and he is the best math teacher you could possibly ask for. He explains well in class, writes fair tests and is always in his office when he should be and helps people with their HW. He teaches Math 30, 141, 142, 150A and 150B. Don't miss out on him, he's the best math teacher on campus.
There are quizzes and homework everyday. He gives 4 exams and a final that masks the lowest exam score. Lectures are straight forward but not very thorough. To get an A, visit his office hours if you ever need help. Also, his tests have a multiple choice and t/f section which have no partial credit. E.C. in the end makes up for a lot though.
Took Sjoberg for 150A and 150B this semester. Great professor. Teaches clearly. Passionate about his work. Homework and quizes every day which are actually a good thing even if some of you don't realize it. It gets you ready for the tests. Take Sjoberg if you want to know Calculus well after you finish the class. Teaches concepts well.
4 Tests and a partially commutative final, which can replace the lowest test score. Test has a no partial credit section which can be T/F or conceptual questions. So dont focus solely on how to do the problem. No quizzes but daily homework assignments and was somewhat lenient on lateness. I would recommend you take this guy, pretty straight forward
Its been like three years since I've had one of Mr. Sjobergs classes, but I still remember how excellent he was. Kinda means something right? Highly recommended teacher for those who struggle with math or those who just like clear and competent teachers.
Awesome teacher! Very helpful; can explain things in clear concise manner. I had him for 250A (my first math class at Fullerton) and I had no idea what to expect but I loved him so much I rushed to take his 250B class. Do the homework he assigns --> best way to study for the tests. Know the terminology. Other than that not too hard to succeed.
Refreshing to have a good teacher who seems to actually care about teaching students. He will answer your questions and actually help you learn it. The exam reviews help a lot. Three is one whole class where you do nothing but exam review and he will go over anything you want, very helpful. I will take his 150B
I took him about a year ago for 150A. He's awkwardly funny and he always had me laughing. He explains things clearly and his tests were pretty easy and straight forward. I never went to the review classes because I was lazy and didn't need the help but go if you do! I really enjoyed his class even though it was a night class
Multivariable calc is difficult in general but he taught it well. His lectures and assigned hw provide just the minimum amount of info so unless you're a genius, you need to put in extra time. Also, if you have trouble picturing 3D graphs and such, his illustrations during lecture are super neat and perfect EVERY time.
Loved this professor, great teacher, clear instructions, relevant hw. He has offices hours and he is always there to help you if you need help. I really enjoyed his class and I wish I could take him for 150B but he filled first. Hopefully 250A/250B
Very poor explanations of the curriculum. Inconsistent grading between tests, and lectures that are less than helpful. the only reason to even attend class is to hand in homework, take the quizes, and tests.
He is a really nice guy and is willing to help you at office hours but this class was extremely hard for me. The notes I took in class didn't help with the homework and his tests were hard. I've never struggled in a math class as much as I did in this class.
Professor Sjoberg is very professional at all times and is a very light-hearted guy. Kept his class interesting and showed applications for the mathematics, particularly with optimization and vectors. I highly recommend taking Sjoberg on Fullerton campus versus teachers at Cypress campus (The Pletts not included here!)
He was a pretty good teacher up until this semester in 250b his attitude has become poor and hes examples versus problems in the HW and tests have become even poorer The book that he picked for the class is never used and he actually warns against learning like the book teaches its all quite frustrating I hope he does a better job next time
He is an average prof. He is nice and willing to help. The exam questions are not hard, but the partial credit with the grading is what makes it difficult to get a good grade. Some exams are scored lower than 100 points and your grade is the percentage, so mistakes do affect you greatly.
Sjoberg's advice is to try every homework problem without looking at the solutions first and it is very good advice for anyone struggling with Calculus. If people give an honest effort and still find themselves struggling, Sjoberg is there to explain concepts during break and after class. Highly recommended.
Sjoberg, for both 150A&B, tries hard to teach you concepts and gives basic examples to guide you through HW. HW is a few problems. Exams are the fundamental questions from each section that, if you know the basic concepts, you should be just fine on the exams. Some ideas are hard, but calculus isn't a breeze. if you want easy, find a new major.
He's very nice, very helpful, really likes math and math humor, and he's decently easy. If you study hard there is no reason you shouldn't get at least a B. Just makes sure you try from the very beginning because everything is related. You can replace your lowest test score with your grade on the final exam. Do the homework.
I'm TERRIBLE at math, the worst. Sjoberg changed my whole outlook on math & I'm confident in my math skills now. He is a great teacher & he's nonjudgemental when u don't understand something. Do your homework & show up to every class, & he's always welcoming u to his office hours! As long as ur not lazy, there's no reason u shouldn't pass.
He's an excellent teacher. Very helpful and willing to help. Enough challenge to have you study, but not very hard. He's very friendly and conscientious.
Good teacher, he is very clear in his lectures and very nice as a person. He makes you feel comfortable in the class, and you can ask him any question you want. The only bad think is that he get lazy during lectures and just shows you the basic. He doesn't finish all examples on the board. Test also include true and false and test are hard.
If u are considering who you should take for math, professor Paul Psjoberg is the one for you. Keep going to class and he will help you with the fundamental example to be able to pass exams.
Professor Sjoberg was great! He is always there when you need help. The quizzes are questions right off the homework so they are easy points. There are no surprises on his tests, just do your homework and do the review. If I had to take another math class, I would definitely take him again! He was for sure the best math professor I've ever had.
HE IS SO TOUGH
One of the best professor I've ever had. Lecture is easy to understand. Homework is easy done if u spend time to look at your notes during the lecture. The exams are all from the homework and no surprises. Getting an A in this class is possible for everyone if you work hard.
Lectures are super clear and he has plenty of office hours to answer questions. Has plenty of outside class hours so getting help is very accessible. He gives you everything you need to pass the class and if you cannot then it is something wrong on your end. Very tough class, but he will be your best bet in learning the material for higher math.
Professor Sjoberg will give you moderate to difficult exam questions. The final can replace your lowest exam score. His lectures are very clear and demonstrates knowledge in the subject. I always felt comfortable in Sjoberg's class, it is what a college class should be. His exams are challenging enough to have you study and grades reasonably.
His study guides aren't representative of what's gonna be on the test. He puts things on there that aren't going to be on the test and he puts things on the test that aren't on the study guide. Other than that, he's not the worst teacher but he's not the best either. I'd take someone else if I had to do it over.
What he teaches in class isn't representative on the homework. The same goes with the study guides and tests. The first test, over half the class got an F. Whenever I was doing hw, I would have to teach myself most of it from the book b/c he didnt teach us in class. be ready to teach yourself. If you can, try your best to take someone else...
I have a lot of respect for Professor Sjoberg! You definitely have to work for a good grade but its very doable. His lectures are organized and explains things very well. His tests aren't the easiest but their reasonable and he definitely prepares you for them. He also replaces your lowest test score with the final. I highly recommend him!
Paul Sjoberg must be the best math teacher I've ever had. He did such a great job clearly explaining the material. He makes homework worth 0% of your final grade: however, if you did it, you get a little extra credit, which I liked a lot. He also takes time to chose the problems from the book that are actually relevant and beneficial to do.
I only wish I had found Professor Sjoberg the first time I attempted Calculus. He rocks! He always clarifies any questions from the class and goes over homework assignments. He is happy to help you if you go to office hours. There are no surprises on the tests. I would take him again in a heartbeat. Take him!
Explains each part of the lesson very thoroughly and follows up with multiple examples. Reviews homework everyday but will sometimes breeze through similar questions. Don't be shy to ask other students in tiny gaps within the teachings (study at home too) and you'll do well in the class.
THE BEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER TAKEN FOR MATH. Explains the material extremely clearly, in a way that students can understand. Fair grader. He will never throw you a curve ball or give you something that he hasn't covered. Exam questions are similar to assigned problems and examples went over in class. Just study those and you should pass.
Had a hard time with Sjoberg in 142. I dropped with a W half way through and took Larsen the next semester. The difference in professors is amazing. Do not take his class.
Lectures are very clear and always makes sure the class understands what is going on. Very thorough when going over examples and homework. He doesn't try to trick you on exams he is really testing to see if you know the material. Nothing super fancy and he tells you exactly what to expect. That being said you still have to put in work to do well.
The best math professor in Fullerton college. He's very clear and always willing to help. I would definitely take him again ! Test are tough but no surprises, just study and put in the work.
this professor is awesome. he's typically doesn't talk about anything other than math but I still think he's a cool dude. i learned a lot in this class. homework was online (which means an expensive access code). he gives partial credit a lot, you just have to show that you're trying!would recommend and would take his class again
His lectures are not represented of homework. same goes with the test study guide. lectures are easy to understand but the hw is different. He is very nice professor but the test is hard.
Great professor. I came into the class quite unsure of my math skills. I skirted the trig prereq, so I came into the class not even knowing what a unit circle was. What's more, I was taking 20 units that semester. I didn't think the class would go well. Yet, his lectures and help in the math lab were amazing. Made me change my major to mathematics.
He is a very good professor for Calculus I. Gives the right amount of homework and makes sure his lectures, homework and study guide cover what will be on the test. He replaces your lowest test score with your final score (if it is better). If you do your homework and study for you tests you should be able to get an A.
I ended up dropping. His lectures are too quick for people in a beginning class of calculus to really process the information since it's all brand new. 80% of the class failed first test and he said that was typical. Also assigns pre determined homework problems which he may have not even gone over in class. He's too "all over the place" for me.
Advice for future students: buy the student solutions manual for the book. It'll give you an edge in the class. Sjoberg is honestly one of the clearest, most straightforward professors you will ever take for 150A. Calc is not an easy subject, but his class definitely gives you the best shot at an A and will leave you well prepared for 150B.
Sjobs is an incredibly clear and informative professor. Math lectures and course material have never been as clear and to the point as was in Sjobys class. If you guys have the chance, take him, theres a reason his classes fill up quickly.
He is a really amazing teacher and actually makes math not horrible. His lectures are so clear and he will always help you in his office hours if you need it.
Great professor who is clear with his lectures. He is a stickler to correct notation and listing out each and every step. His exams are difficult, but if you do hw and notes, you're good. Started with a C and worked my way to an A since he replaces the lowest test score with whatever you get on the final. Quiz almost every week, no multiple choice
Math is a difficult subject for me, but thanks to Sjoberg, I did well. Very important you show up to class. Missing one class can make you fall behind very easily. Quizzes every class and 4 tests + final exam. Homework everyday but not difficult assignments. If you don't understand a lesson make sure to ask for help. He cares and will help.
I have never taken a prof so hard in all my 3 years at this college. His class is 90% examinations (quizzes and tests), 10% is worth homework and you get tough homework assigned before every class (over 15 problems). Additionally if you do not get a C average or above on all the exams, he will drop your hwk grade. So judge for yourself.
Greatly tough professor! Calculus II is the hardest of the sequence, and Professor Sjoberg makes sure on that; however, probably one of the best too. I found him to be a good Professor and I always understood him. Keep in mind though I am very good in Math, and I got the highest grade in the class, for the average person they probably failed sadly
The lectures were very clear. He goes over homework problems, but doesn't completely finish problems if they weren't as hard, which I thought was fine since he lets you work on it and turn in the homework during office hours. Tests and quizzes are as expected. I took AP CALC AB in high school and it was an easy transition for me.
He is organized and gives enough extra credit that if you messed up on a test or two, you can still get an A. However, I didn't like his teaching method, he explained concepts by example or drawing and asks students to visualize instead of writing the rules to follow. Though i'm not sure if it was him or the material itself that was hard.
Calculus is not hard, but Sjoberg makes it hard. The massive amounts of homework are not representative of the exam. He comes up with novel problems that involve techniques that you learn outside of calculus and chalks it up to critical thinking. He assigns study guides for students to waste their time on; they have nothing to do with the exams.
Google his name and you can see what the syllabus will look like. Exams and the Final make the bulk of your grade. The Final will replace your worst test score. I felt that the study guides for each exam was enough practice for the tests, which are not designed to trick you. I'd say the reason people fail is because they don't ask for help.
Overall great professor at Fullerton College, but it's a hard subject to wrap your head around so make sure you meet him after class or ask questions. Homework and the review do help, but sadly the review was not relevant to the main subjects on his test. Cracks a joke here and there
I took Sjoberg for Calc 1 and Calc 3. He's a great Calc 1 teacher, but an okay Calc 3 one. There are some sections he covers really fast, and those turned out to be some of the most important sections in the course. Prof. Leonard's series on YouTube pretty much got me the A in this class. I recommend you look him up.
He's a very tough grader. Given lots of homeworks but when he went through all of them in class, he didn't even finish the questions for those questions are not hard. Students submitted the exam only 2 minutes late because of internet connection, he didn't show mercy or any possible chances, he just graded O for the whole exam. Overall, just don't!
He's possibly the worst teacher I have seen. Such a tough grader and merciless teacher. More than half of my class received the failing grade. He requires to show detailed works even though he never does it himself. The quizzes and exams are way more different than the materials and examples in class. In conclusion, JUST RUN!
Professor Sjoberg is the epitome of what it means to be a math professor. Proofs must be rigorous, your language must be precise, you need to understand what is going on. You aren't going to plug and chug your way through these classes. He is very clear about what is on the test. If you put in the work (and it is a lot) you will succeed.
Took Professor Sjoberg for both Calc 1&2 but he made the class harder than it already is. The study guide is nothing like the exam, it's practically useless for an exam. He is a tough and picky grader on exams so make sure you don't skip any steps when solving a problem. Requires to show as much detail on anything even thought he doesn't himself.
I heard he is great inside class but online was really difficult with him he gave us really tough exams with little time he gives tons of homework notation is more important than the answer itself really tough grader half the class failed he needs to see every step on every question or he will automatically assume your cheating and give you a zero
Although some people may struggle with this class, I believe putting in the effort will allow you to easily earn an A or at least a B. I personally think that Professor Sjoberg is one of the best if not the best math professor at Fullerton College. He does have a strict cheating policy though, so just make sure to show your work in his class.
I took this professor online. His class was fun but he is a very strict professor. Especially on quizzes and exams, be sure to show all your work and every step or he will give you a zero for the whole exam. He will claim that you are cheating even though he doesn't show all the steps for problems in lectures. JUST DON'T PLEASE
Since COVID, all of his quiz/exams have been made open book/note, which makes the class easier. He expects you to show all work in order to receive credit, which is reasonable. Don't be surprised if you copy the work directly from WolframAlpha/Symbolab and get a 0, which I suspect other reviewers here have tried. He assigns a little too much HW.
Professor Sjoberg is one of the best math professors on campus. I took him from Calc 2 all the way to Linear Algebra and Diff Equations. He gives study guides before every test and doesn't throw any curveballs on the exams. He does have quizzes every now and then, but if you do the homework and remember what you did you're good. TAKE HIM!
Sjoberg is very organized and clear when lecturing. If you're crisp on your algebra, every topic he talks about follows one another smoothly. His grading system is simple and makes sense. He explicitly states where he will take points off, regarding the exams. He issues a reasonable amount of homework, enough to eventually master a concept.
