His class consits of going over powerpoints, then you learning it from the text book. He copies and pastes his tests without reading the questions, so about a quarter of the material on them, we never cover in class. he is sometimes entertaining, but has a very mellow voice which puts me to sleep!
His teaching style does not promote a health learning enviroment. Made rude remarks about students infront class. Stuff that was suppose to be on the test was not. Went to ask for help and was rude to me. Is an ok teacher if you can study from the book and are one of his favorites.
He is an okay teacher. You have to ask him about what's gonna be on the midterms. He lacks time management,so better remind him if he is going too slow in class.Otherwise,he could explain things in details and has pretty easy midterm as long as you read the txtbook thoroughly.
DONT TAKE HIM!!! He is very inconsitant with what he expects from you. He messed up peoples programs for nursing because he failed them.
Tests were ok, but all over the place. First midterm was easy, but the second one was very hard; told us to study different stuff then what was on the test. I would recommond another teacher.
Horrible teacher. He did not write his own tests. He would say to study something in detail and spend an entire lecture on it, then not have one question on that topic on the test. The tests were often full of mistakes and bad questions. Extremely boring to listen to and he often goes off topic during lectures. DONT take his classes!
BEST PROF EVER!!!! MAKES HILARIOUS JOKES AND IS REALLY NICE. GREAT AT EXPLAINING THINGS.
Tests were difficult, asks you random questions from class notes. Read the textbook & his notes for the tests. He's not very helpful when telling you what's on the test. Check your test after because he may make some mistakes with the answer key. He has quizzes/projects that boost up your grade. Unorganized, good @ explaining, & nice guy.
Sunga is THE MASTER DOC. Don't take him if you do not have a flexible mind and curious spirit...but if you do: HE IS A TREAT!!!
this prof is AWESOME! hes actuallyy a really great person the only way youll fail the course is if you fail the lab part of it and if you really dont care.. class requires time and work but hes awesome!
This prof is awsome, ppl who don't like him dont come to class and don't study for tests. classse are interesting and although he sometimes gets off topic, his notes clear most things up. Tests are on what he says they will be on.Exams tend to get harder so study hard for the first exam then u dont have to worry about the final!
One of the best Biology instructor I've ever had. He has a PhD, but his lectures are very understandable. He has a good sense of humor & will TRY to make the class laugh. His midterms are OKAY. Not the hardest, also not the easiest. In order to pass, one must read his notes. You don't need to buy the textbook, since his notes are more than enough.
A really funny teacher I greatly enjoyed his class. He tries very hard to get you to understand the material and he does repeat and clarify things if you do not understand them. I would reccomend him.
He's very nice. This was a new course so he was constantly changing the material but he provided his notes online. He gets off topic quite a bit but it's interesting. His tests are pretty easy. I never studied and still got a B.
terrible.
HE IS SO AWESOME! you dont like him because hes not easy like all the other profs and you had to work to get the grades. he is such a great person! and not to mention smart because he knows what hes doing.. not like some profs who make up stuff on the spot
Great professor. Knows what he is talking about. Entertaining lectures. I recommend him because his exams are clear and fair.
I've never wrote a comment before but I've decided to because Paul was amazing. He knew what he was talking about, he engaged the class with his hilarious stories and encouraged us to ask questions. His tests were m/c and if you studied you could easily do very well. Take his class if you can, you won't regret it!
He tells some really interesting stories that are semi-related to what he's teaching. Unfortunately, this class was my last class on Fridays so it was like torture waiting for him to make his point so we could get out of there. These stories also take up class time that could be better spent teaching the material.
Good instructor but study hard and come to class. For nursing students, he is one of the best instructors
I found this teacher really hard to follow and disorganized with all of the information he presented. He often used outdated terms which made it confusing to know what he was referring to. His notes were all over the place and he would often get off topic, wasting time and then leaving sections of material up to self study.
His lectures can be quite boring, and sometimes a little unclear. He may talk about some of his stories, which often detract from the lecture. His exams are completely multiple choice, and I'd say the questions are fair. The textbook will really help clear up what he says.
Some lectures are boring but they help prepare you for the exam. His tests are fair (multiple choice) there aren't any surprises. I got an A on his midterm with moderate studying
Liked the breadth of coverage in this class, he handled the martial OK. Although some lectures got dry and technical. Really likes focusing on sub-saharan Africa. Overall was Ok. Not a super hard marker, if you try hard you will do ok.
Boring lectures, easy exams. That's pretty much all you need to know.
The people that struggle in his class haven't nailed the basics of microbio and A&P. If you don't understand regular cell mechanisms, you will get lost in a class that focuses on their pathologies. Class lags when people ask questions about material they should already know. His personal anecdotes from field work are often humorous & enlightening.
Not mandatory to come to class, your textbook is your bible. How to get an A? Read ahead and write more notes on top of his. His tests are all MC, easy and straight forward. Ppl who dont like him are the lazy ones who barely put effort.. just STUDY an hour a day. = A++ !Paul also goes into details with more than what we need to know sometimes.
His tests are pretty general - slightly on the easy side if you study alot. Make notes on the chapters, study them every day and you will get a high mark. Midterms & Final are all M/C. The lab portion is what you should be worried about... I ended up with a C overall having to repeat the course
Interesting topic made even more interesting by Dr. Sunga's stories from his field experience. His exams come mainly from the powerpoints. He doesn't make the lab portion, but that is where you should focus most of your study. Loved this prof. Easy A if you study moderately.
2 essays, 2 exams (midterm & final, plus massive group project. Little no direction on any assignments (doesn't hand out criteria). Lectures are just him rambling on for 2 hours. Do NOT take if you are just coming out of high school. He does not teach or guide well, very hard to get an A. Just, avoid this class unless you really need it.
It is a great course for health science majors and his stories are interesting. However, he never replies students emails and he does not mark assignments on time. We had two essays and he barely gave us instructions on how to write them. And the participation mark is confusing. Not so much info provided for studying exams.
Come to class, take notes, ask questions, study 1 hour every night. If you don't understand something just ASK and he will answer your questions. The quiet ones who are too afraid to speak up ended up dropping the class. He enjoys what he teaches and attempts to bring practical experience to his lectures.
Very smart guy. We had to do solo presentations, which was probably why we didn't cover everything that was in the curriculum. His online notes can be a tad confusing. His in-class notes can be very messy because he can go back and forth.
He is a great teacher and very thorough at explaining when you have questions. He enjoys what he does and it shows! Midterms are all multiple choice and straight forward. Make sure to study, it is a heavy load class!
Can't sit at the back of the class with this teacher otherwise it'll easily get boring. He's very informative if you ask questions and participate. No homework, so everything is based off of the tests. Study and you'll be fine.
This is one of the class that has no direction in lecture. Talking about Africa all the day long, unresponsive for questions and emails.
His packaged notes are super detailed. How do you understand them? Take notes from class. Understand his detailed package notes generally, but don't go into super detail. All multiple choice quizzes and exams. Quizzes are fairly easy; exams are quite the opposite. Don't expect to get good grades in his class; however, you can definitely pass though
Tons of worldly experience! Very interesting to hear about real life stories regarding global health. lectures can be disorganized, although you will learn a lot. The main thing holding the class back is students who love to pretend like they are doctors and know more than the prof. Exams are all MC - very easy. Essays are marked hard.
avoid.
Dr Sunga is a very smart guy, but he was challenging to work with as an instructor. His lectures were disorganized and it was sometimes difficult to understand where he was sourcing his material from. His test questions can be unclear. Having a project was helpful for those who were struggling to pass the course. Overall, I would not recommend him.
Unorganized notes and tested on material not covered in class. Avoid.
One of the worst professors I have had. He is always behind in class and loves to talk about himself. I learned more about himself then the actual material we should have covered.
He does not know how to teach. Always behind with materials then let students self study. Not clear as to what students need to know for exams.
Notes and powerpoints are UNFINISHED and disorganized; there are so many discrepancies between the two resources. During class lectures, he blatantly states "I don't know why this slide is here" or "hm, what is this showing here?" He also never seems available for office hours. Does not seem to take teaching seriously because of his research.
Paul was great. As mentioned, his teaching style can be a bit confusing. You really need to self teach from the text book before you go to class. His midterms are very straight forward. I actually like that when he doesn't know an answer, he is honest about it and doesn't just make something up. A&P isn't easy, a lot of work no matter what prof.
AWESOME! As some may know, Biol 1190 was hard, so as expected, Biol 1191 also requires a lot of studying. Teachers have opportunities to make questions very difficult and unfair, but Paul does the opposite!! He focuses on the big picture rather than small details. Study hard as us usual, and definitely focus on the textbook, you'll get an A!!!
There was alot of material that we needed to know that wasn't in the outline or his notes and somehow we needed to know it. When I went to office hours for help and to do better in the course he said it would be hard and I said I could do it but he made it seem like I wouldn't pass the class at all which issnt something your supposed to do!
I really liked taking Pauls class! he was very fair with his tests and clear with his lectures. I would definitely recommend him for BIOL 1190/91, but it is a very challenging course so be sure to study AT LEAST 1 hour per day! trust me.
very disorganized, slides are constantly being added to his ppts during lectures. Does not tell you what to study, lectures are all over the place and you dont really learn anything. notes are very hard to fall and all over the place avoid.
Doesn't care about his students. Sarcastic. Doesn't explain diseases, instead, talks about the prevalence of them for a patho course. Has notes, powerpoints, textbook readings, lecture notes. Expects you to study all four sources. Info is not cohesive. Wont let you see your test if you score above 75. Shouldn't be teaching second year courses.
great
Paul is great and SUPER knowledgeable! It's one of the toughest classes but you learn A LOT of cool info. He tests mostly on his powerpoints, notes, and lecture. The textbook is not needed, although some people like to refer to it when they need clarification. His lectures are heavy, but he adds a lot of humour and stories so it makes it bearable.
I have taken a science degree before and had many years with all sorts of science teachers. Hes disorganized with teaching, he incorrectly states comments then back tracks, he wastes class time going over stories of his past and never gets to the point. My advice.. print the PowerPoints at home and read the text book and only show up for the test
Paul is a great prof. He makes lectures bearable with cool stories and humor. He tests on lectures/textbook info so make sure you read it! No homework. This course is content heavy so you must study and keep up at home along with going to classes. He doesnt go off track and always asks the class if concepts are understood
Dr. Sunga is caring and extremely knowledgeable. One thing I appreciated about him, other than his humour, was that even if a concept was beyond the scope of the course, he explained it. He didn't sweep it under the rug like so many profs do. He allowed us to develop a deep understanding of the concept that, in turn, helped to solidify the info.
Does not explain course content well, as he can be very vague. Attending lecture is useless, and you could probably study better by yourself at home.
paul s sunga is very hardworking instructor and he gives detailed information on each topic . people with no background in biology can do this course by hardwork and instructor's help.
AVOID THIS PROFESSOR! His exams do not reflect the topics of the course and VERY HARD TO UNDERSTAND. The power points are all over the place. Study the textbook and make your own notes instead. DOES NOT REPLY TO EMAILS; NOT ACCESSIBLE OUTSIDE OF CLASS AT ALL!
Well-informed and knowledgeable about pathophysiology but difficult to follow. Unnecessarily goes into too much detail. PowerPoints can be disorganized and don't match the order in his textbook, use his textbook for studying. Quizzes are easier and exams are hard. Has a lot of tricky questions and answer options. Flexible about changing test dates.
Pauls reviews are fairly misleading! I think most students have very different attitudes towards their professors! Paul's lecture's help with understanding some material however, most of his material is best understood when using the textbook! This course requires heavy studying so it is a fairly difficult course overall. Study hard you'll do well!
Paul tends to go off topic sometimes in lecture but other than that, I actually enjoyed the way this class was set up! However, you definitely have to study lots to do well. I would recommend studying the textbook tons. I found the grading to be fair and Paul provides leeway to boost your grades e.g. HW was an easy 8%; the answers were rlly easy MC
Terrible teacher. You need a mandatory textbook he wrote himself filled with spelling and grammatical errors. Rambles in class. Doesn't respond to emails, or answer questions. Exams are insane. Refused to give extra time for a written exam (I have accommodations) until I complained to accessibility and the department chair. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
If you are good at managing yourself to study then Sunga is a great choice. He only goes over the main stuff in lecture so the smaller things you study youself, but he explains concepts well. Lectures are not mandatory and tests are very straightforward. Just study the bold terms. You can get the textbook online for free, don't bother buying it.
Paul was prof for 1190, I have previously taken the class and got a D and took it with paul and got an A- .. never thought a caring prof would make such a huge diffrence in the inpact of my grade. Paul really cares and is so passionate of the subject and is a phenominal teacher and explainer. He relates everything we learn to real life situations!
He is a great professor and is very knowledgeable about the material. The examinations are fair and everything is covered in lectures and tutorials.
Always made sure students were following, always got back to me quickly by email, encouraged questions, tests were pretty straightforward/he always made sure we knew what to expect on them. He has a good sense of humour and his classes were enjoyable. He adds interesting anecdotes and connections to his lectures instead of only following the slides
Great prof! Quizzes and midterms were fair and straight to the point. Participation only mattered when completing the practice quizzes, but they're quite beneficial & are to be done on your own time. If you watch his lectures you will have a good grasp of the material, but you could always ask him questions in tutorial. Would take his 1191 class!
Paul is an amazing instructor. He really cares for his students to be successful. He gives hints during the lecture on what will be on the exam. Power-points are extremely detailed to the main points.
Paul is a great instructor. He relates the content to concurrent nursing courses. His slides and notes are comprehensive, and instead of using the textbook to complement thing I didn't understand, I use Khan Academy. If you focus on understanding concepts and underlying basics you will be able to rule out right and wrong answers in exams.
Paul is an okay instructor but his PowerPoints and notes are so vague and he includes so much info on the tests that comes from just googling information. His instructing is very dry and boring, most people ended up just showing up for tests.
Not good at explaining concepts and mostly rambles. Spent more than a month teaching the first chapter and had to rush through the rest of the chapters. Had to change exam dates several times. Exams are difficult. Relied on Osmosis to get through the semester.
Power points are very long and disorganized. He separates the slides with his course notes, you have to integrate the two together and figure out his notes on your own. Spent too long on beginning chapters, leaving us with only a few days to study for the final exam. Stressful course.
Paul is a great prof & makes things easier to understand . The material is hard - that's a given - but if you get Paul he's the only one who gives you the best tools to make it thru the class & program. His course notes supplement his ppts - makes it 100x to understand the complicated material. Willing to help & review. Legit the best patho prof.
Paul is the one of the rare profs that can make the material understandable. He explains the concepts well. You cant just memorize if you wanna do well on exams(which is the case with all patho classes - u have to put in a lot of time). Overall a phenomenal prof and unbelievably intelligent. He went easier on the quizzes to help boost marks.
Not enough words in the English dictionary to describe the hell of B2292. Paul himself is a nice and mediocre guy, but has the worst tests/lectures. Extremely poor time management (had 4 exams/quizzes in 4 weeks). Mumbles and does not teach properly. Unnecessary details in notes. Wording of questions on the tests makes it difficult. AVOID.
Spent WAY too long teaching 1st midterm content that he had to rush "teaching" the rest. Had a midterm+quiz within less than 2 weeks of our final. Goes off tangent during lectures and talks slow af, so you are better off teaching yourself the whole course. Good luck w the ridiculously detailed and disorganized notes. Nice guy, but avoid if you can.
Paul is a good prof, very approachable and nice. Grades are only made up of quizzes and exams. I would recommend reviewing them during office hours. Lots of content (notes and pp) but focus on the big picture.
It looks like he is writing the reviews. Paul is an instructor that you want to avoid at all costs. Notes and PPT were all over the place. Relied on osmosis for the term.
Paul was nice but as a prof was all over the place. His exams were pretty hard with some questions that were not covered in class. If you don't have a strong foundation in biology passing the course will be difficult.
He went on so many tangents. Doesnt organize the material well. Lectures are useless. I went back to old A&P notes a lot to understand the content. Taught myself from youtube videos. He adds spends forever on histology which we dont need to know and has zero time management. 2 months on one unit. 1 month for the last 4 units.
This course was had a lot of content and was very difficult. Although Paul is a nice guy, he wasn't clear on what to study. Powerpoint slides are mostly useless and the notes he gives us are extremely detailed. Tests are hard because they contain questions that we have not covered in class.
Unreachable by email, likes to ramble then skips core material. Unclear on what he wants and vague learning in class. Concept based tests, do not study any details but rather causative/consequential aspects of diseases. Gets easier once you know how to study for his tests. Quizzes slightly harder than tests. Lots select all or all above correct q
the. absolute. worst. prof. ever. i never knew how to prepare for his exams. i attended all lectures, but still didn't know what was going on. his notes and ppts are SO disorganized. he's the worst at lecturing. he mumbles a lot and you can barely understand what he's saying. prepare to teach yourself the whole course.
Paul can be nice during lectures but often gets confusing when explaining terms. When he says it will be on the test, it definitely will. He would go over the slides and talk from there and that's it . Not sure if it was me but your not a morning person do not take bio in the morning or just any course in general. Nice guy but teaching format is eh
Paul is a nice guy however his teaching is not the best. Test would run heavy and confusing tbh, He likes to go over the big points and leaves the smallest for you to study at home. His teaching can be confusing and if you want a good grade, i wouldn't reccomend him.
Very disorganized. Does not respond to emails. Does not care at all about his students. His lectures are useless. It is basically a self-taught course. Quizzes and exams are confusing. Good luck if you get him as a prof, you’ll need it.
Paul is nice and tries to make his lectures engaging. The course is test-heavy with 3 quizzes, 2 midterms and a final exam. His PowerPoint slides are long (mostly pictures) and confusing, focus on the textbook his tests are based on the readings. Expect a lot of application-based questions in the exams. He is flexible with quiz dates.
Nice and cares for his students however exams are tough. Many questions are application-based. If you're taking him for the first patho of nursing beware getting that 65 is tough. Many people come close to failing or do fail. Lots of self-studying, quizzes are tough, midterms easier once you learn his style of questions. Study hard, you'll do well!
I liked Paul's bigger picture explanations of body systems that build a firm foundation of the topics, only pointing out key details that matter at this level. Don't solely rely on lecture slides, Read the text! Quizzes & exams were very fair. If you are committed to putting in the effort and determined to succeed, your grade will reflect that.
To pass the course, you will have to study a lot! Passing the course is challenging. Some students failed the class. Don't underestimate his exams, cuz they are actually very hard.
Paul has lots of real world experience and draws great connections between the material and application. however this can lead to him being a bit rambly at times and off topic sometimes. Reading in addition to lectures is definitely necessary
Paul is a very nice person and he is very funny. He tends to go off topic though so lectures don't really teach the material well. Also, a lot of the information that is a need to know for exams is not covered in the lectures. I find that I learn more by not going to class and staying home to study instead.
Paul seems charming and is actually very smart, but should NOT TEACH. Often rambles in class and ppts are uselessly long and uninformative. I stopped going to his lectures and just used lectures from a different professor because his materials are useless. Watch videos and read his supp. notes to try and pass, good luck
I love Paul, he is a fantastic professor, and his exams are very straightforward. All multiple choice and all looking at the bigger picture. I have had him for 1190, 1191 and now 2292 and I love his teaching. he won't spoon-feed you what you need to know, and the course is challenging, so be ready to work hard. Paul is amazing!
Paul is hilarious and really cares about his students. This class is test heavy, and at first is hard to pick up on what his questions are asking, but you get used to it through each exam. His ppts are slightly disorganized but he does emphasize big picture understanding. This course is difficult and you will really need to put in work to do well
Paul's lectures are disorganized and rushed at best. He does point out key ideas that will be on the exams, but you'll have to teach yourself the material. Exams get easier once you understand his style of questions. Don't bother with the PowerPoints, and focus on the supplemental notes. Start studying early and you'll be fine!
Paul's very knowledgable and funny in class so its not always boring. Ppts can be a mess and its tough understanding the material from his slides. He's very lenient tho. Exams get easier once you understand how he asks questions. Tip: Focus on prevalence + causality when studying diseases. He loves asking what causes what and what it can lead to!
I was anxious to take b2292 with Paul bc of some of the rate my prof reviews I had seen.. but I can honestly tell u, Paul is a very kind & supportive professor. I struggled quite a bit with this class, but speaking to Paul during his office hours makes a big difference! For his exams, just rmbr to focus more on bigger picture not the tiny details
I was scared by the reviews I saw of Paul but i can tell you he is an amazing, hilarious, and super understandable professor. Make sure to ask questions during the lecture, focus on the big picture and you have to read the textbook to pass his class. His tests are all multiple-choice online which will be done in class.
Paul is the walking and talking definition of just because your smart doesn't mean you know how to teach. His exam questions are all application based as he wants you to think about what it is you learned. You are going to have to put the time and effort in studying. Good luck and don't be afraid to cry :)
Reading and memorizing wont get you far in this course, putting in the time and effort to understand the material is what will get you the grades you want. Paul asks questions that make you think as he tests your comprehension of the material. Ask for help during office hours and look at both slides and textbook when doing notes and studying!
Im writing this as an upper term student who had all three patho instructors. Paul was by far my favourite in terms of testing. He usually only tested on an overview of main concepts. Never had to memorize anything for this class, just understand the big picture. If you can get you hands on the notes from another instructor just use those to study
I found Paul's class to be rather disorganized. The powerpoints are not based on the textbook and sometimes 100 slides or more. Don't get bogged down trying to learn everything he presents in class because a lot of it is extraneous. If you have a hard time listening to him I would recommend just stay home and learn the textbook, you'll do fine.
He does not care about any of his students and even if you are on the verge of failing does nothing to help you. He has no social cues and can be harsh. He even made some students cry. He is a tough instructor and definitely has no good qualities of a good educator. Unfortunate if you have him
Paul is knowledgeable but his teaching style is not good. He lecture slides are too lengthy but he gives notes separately which helps. Follow up with him if having difficulty in the course as early as possible and study hard. Avoid cramming and focus on the bigger picture/ mind maps for each concept being taught. Ask and clarify things in advance.
Pros: you can tell he is passionate about health and disease. He is flexible with test dates. His exam questions are pretty reasonable. Cons: the course is so disorganized that I spent most of my study time just figuring out what the information was. He goes off on tangents a lot during lecture and then has to skip over stuff which is frustrating.
Only bad thing I have to say is that his slides/notes were very disorganized. Studying the content was not hard but it was organizing the material which took the longest. He is a great prof when you see him 1-1 in person. He is reasonable with tests (hard quizzes, easy midterms, average final)!
having paul twice for patho (term 2 and 4) is an experience!! he's honestly a great instructor but his slides are disorganized! i found his notes very helpful when studying for exams/quizzes though! he's very accessible outside of class time and ensures that everyone is at least passing!
It is possible to receive a good mark as long as you study. All tests and exams are multiple choice. Paul only tests on the main concept so as long as you understand the main idea that is good.
During his office hours, the instructor comes across as arrogant and disrespectful. He leans back in his chair and doesn't seem to be interested in talking. It's better to study the textbook on your own rather than relying on his useless 100+ slides and lectures.
His lecture slides and textbook are super disorganized and lack readability. Read both textbook + slides when studying. Quizzes are easier than exams. Concepts taught are not light but Paul doesn't make it any easier. Yes he comes across as full of himself, even makes weird comments during lecture, he also rambles. Good luck baby nursing students!
Rated as average difficulty since patho is going to be a hard course, regardless of what instructor you get. Paul is very passionate about the content, but he tends to go off track during lectures. I found him accommodating, understanding, & genuinely wanting his students to pass. Focus on his textbook (rather than the ppts) for study material. GL!
Paul is a good talker. However, he does not teach the actual content. It's up to you to denote his textbook and self study. Half the class didn't show up by quarter the semester because his class is genuinely not helpful. You need to memorize the textbook to get a good mark. He wont break it down and explain anything. Also arrogant in office hours
Be aware you have to read ALOT of the textbook for this class. His ppts are mostly info copy and pasted from the textbook so you will end up reading to study anyways. Tests were fair, the only con is his lectures are very boring and he tends to ramble. You can get away with not attending lectures and teaching yourself at home from the textbook
People that complain about Paul either fall into three categories: They are too mentally deficient to absorb the course material, lack the intelligence required to acknowledge the workload of the course, or simply do not like his teaching style, which I suppose is fair. Really chill guy though, gang knows I fw him. All hail Paul SunGOAT.
4 quizzes worth 10%, 3 exams worth 20%, that's it. Paul's teaching style isn't my favourite but just calls for more self-studying. Lecture slides are super long but mostly comprised of pictures. Calgary guides will become your bestie. He tests on very general info, not super detailed. Supplemental notes contain more comprehensive info than slides.
Paul is a very good mentor. He cares for his students. He wants his students to be good nurses so he makes sure that students learn the concepts needed in the nursing field. Study the power points as well as the outline posted in brightspace. Exams are easier than the quizzes.
His lectures are not helpful. I self studied the whole course by watching YouTube videos & reading his tb/slides.His midterms and quizzes were okay, but the final is hardest. A lot of people skipped his class and still passed.I personally recommend knowing the bigger picture and connecting ideas with each other.
Lectures were useless—attendance tanked to 15% after week 1. His typo-ridden textbook/slides were missing key syllabus content. Tests are needlessly wordy and contradict his “big-picture” advice. The course is backend heavy—crush the first 2 midterms. Very knowledgeable, but terrible teacher. Awful experience for a course I was excited about.
