Dr. Teed is a great prof. He really cares about his students.

I feel that Prof. Teed is the most caring teacher at SVSU. He wants to help you.
Excellent professor!!! Great class!!! He knows his information!!! EXCELLENT!!!
The best teacher I have ever had including past 4 years at college
His tests are too hard.. He is cross-eyed I hated his class Stay Away
great teacher, not an easy class but very interesting
Awesome prof! I highly recommend him for any class. Even if you don't like HST

learned a lot in senior seminar but overall class was boring and repititous. have had other classes with Teed which were much more exciting but overall, good teacher
Professor Teed is the best teacher that I've had in my college career. His passion and knowledge of the field ignited my interest, and led me to a career in teaching. Take one of his classes, you'll never forget it!
Wonderful Prof. Willing to help. Great teacher. Tuly passionate! He wants to be there, and makes you want to be there too! Take him if you can! :)
Passion is the only word to describe his teaching style. A little bit of a tough grader, but you will learn a hellavu lot in his class.
A tough grader but an excellent professor. You will learn a lot in this class although your grade may not reflect it. I'd definitely recommend taking him.
I have never seen Prof. Teed not talking about history. So passionate about his work and knows how to apply it to his students. Great teacher, great guy - take him if you have the chance. He is a tough grader, but if you know your stuff you’ll be fine.
Very knowledgable and quite nice. I recommend you take a class with him.
this man knows his stuff and will help students as much as he can
he's very knowledgable about history and really gets into his lectures..you'll learn alot but it wont really show on your grade....tough tests
I have had Dr. Teed for Civil War and senior seminar. He is an excellent Prof. and a truley nice and helpful person. Both classes were worth the effort in reading. I did not find his exams to difficult. Do the reading and participate and you will do fine.
Knows his stuff. Very smart, and helpful. If you dont read the material or study the tests may be difficult, overall best history teacher ive had at SVSU.
this is teh BEST professor at SVSU. read and participate and you will have NO problem at all. i love this class. it's on friday morning, and i haven't yet wanted to miss it. he makes things interesting, and i would love to take this prof again.
Excellent Professor, very helpful, and keeps lectures interesting. A tough grader but you will learn a lot.
Teed is the man! Work load is just right, exams are easy to get a "C" maybe even "B" because his lectures are that good. But i would congratulate you if you get an "A" in the class - not an easy task. big difference between B's and A's. But one of the best professors at svsu. Take him !!!
Dr. Teed is the best History teacher/professor I've ever had. He confirms my desire to work in the history field.
Best history profesor ive had so far. He is very smart, his lectures are pretty interesting, and he is an all around nice guy thats easy to get along with.
Dr. Teed is the best! This class is so good I haven't missed one and it is on Friday mornings. You need to read carefully and participate in class discussion. You can get an A if you work hard!

One of the best history professors I've ever had. History is my major, but Dr. Teed is so good that I plan on taking as many classes with him as possible. His class is by no means a breeze, but I've learned more from him than most my other history professors.
Prof. Teed is an amazing guy and a wonderful teacher. He makes history fun, and is always willing to give help when needed. TAKE HIS CLASS.
I really enjoyed taking his class. The study guides can be a bit challenging. If you listen really closely in his classes, he will tell you what essay questions will be on the exams. I recommend writing the paper on the Apostle odf Disunion book, it is the most strait forward.
Teed was a great professor. I had never once opened my book for his exams, and walked out with an A-. Show up for everyclass and it will show. Quizes suck though, but hey, everyclass isn't perfect.
Great professor. He knows his stuff and is very helpful. the quizes arent bad as long as you do the readings. never overdemanding, not a lot of homework. Great class. never get out early but he is so enthusiastic about teaching it shows. everyone should take him.
I took his class in the Winter and he was a great teacher. He took time to answer ALL your questions. He likes ppl to get involved with the class. answer the questions he has. it's not hard at all. I recommend him to anyone and everyone.
While his lectures are more interesting than most, his tests and quizzes are horrible. I had him for Spring '06. His criteria for a good grade on the tests/quizzes are extremely strict. He expects full explanations and every little detail. I'm an president's list student, but I still got nothing higher than a C+ on any of them.
President List or not, Teed likes a full explanation for everything, especially w essays. Spill everything you have to show him you've mastered the material (he does a really good job of delivering it to you). Advice: Study the events and characters as they relate to one another and not separately. It's college, not high school memorization.
great class very good proffesor enjoys what he is teaching and it shows really need to study to do good
Great teacher had his 3 hour class and he made it fly by! Very interesting! If you like essay questions he's your man! Very kind and wants to help you get an A.
I thought that it was a great class and that everyone loved it. I am into civil war stuff so the class kept me entertained. The professor was really good at clearing up a lot of questions that everyone had and had a lot of good examples.
Great teacher! Really loves to teach and makes the lectures intersting. Quizes are easy as long as you do required reading. Exams aren't bad if you study, grades very hard on the essay part though. Wants you to get an A. Would definately recommend!
great
pretty good teacher! He is always willing to help students and offers extra credit half way through the year. tests are easy and there are no papers to write. some quizes but only from one book.
Very smart professor but does not talk avoe your head, he engages the class in great discussions and is always willing to listen to your opinion and extremely willing to help. Grades fairly and is average for difficulty, I Would definately recommend to anyone, history major or not.
What a fun class! Early U.S. History is so boring, but he makes it interesting and fun, and he totally makes it make sense! His study guides and tests are fair, although he expects a LOT of detail and organization in essay questions. Plus, he wants to hear what students have to say!
Dr. Paul Teed is quite possibly the best history professor at SVSU. He'll make you work for your grade, but you'll feel a sense of accomplishment at the end. He's a great guy and he'll help you out with any problems you have in the class.
My favorite History Professor at SVSU. He is extremely smart and is also a great prof. You have to put in effort to get an A but he is super helpful. Take any of his classes if you can, you'll learn a ton!!!!
Well, I love history, but it has to be presented in a particular way and Teed had it down! He is very knowledgable and helpful through the entire course. However, he doesn't lecture in a way that leaves your head spinning. The way that he lectures makes it easy to love history! He makes 3 hrs. just fly by! All in all, a great instructor!
Dr. Teed is a good professor and I really liked this class. My only complaint or reservation is that I never quite felt confident that I knew where I stood as far as my grade was concerned. Really does know his stuff and is interested in his students doing well.
Professor Teed is an amazing teacher! He makes history come alive! Avoid this prof is you're lazy b/c you will work your tail off for your grade! But there's a great sense of accomplishment when you've finished his class. I took every history class I could with Professor Teed, and b/c of his passionate teaching style, I'm now a history teacher!
Teed is a good teacher, there is some reading but he goes through the books with you so you really just need to skim them. He can be funny which helped because the class is all powerpoint.Overall Teed seems to want everyone to pass his class and is fair with his grading
Overall he was a good teacher. You have to listen and take detailed notes if you want to do good in the class. The powerpoints aren't that helpful. He grades very hard though. Make sure you are detailed. There are 6 quizes over reading and 3 test.
I absolutely love this guy, he's a genius. He's one of the smartest people I have ever met, and is a truly challenging professor. He grades according to performance, don't expect to mess around, not do your work and still get a good grade. He's easy to get along with and really knows his stuff. I think 100 level classes are wasted on him.
Dr. Teed knows his topic. The class was very informative and fun to go to. He tries to make it easy for the students. He can be a tough grader because he expects you to remember titles and authors.
I took this class as a CI course- expected it to be very hard and boring, but is very interesting. I am a mgt major, so History is not my forte but I got an A. It was based on slavery. We wrote 1 huge paper, 12 pages long, but I think he grades easy. His exams are hard, all essays. Participate in class, read the material, and get him to like you
Very fun class for being a history class. He makes the lessons easy and understandable. Only had two papers and three exams, none cumulative. Teed is a fair grader on the papers but also expects a lot from you.
Great class, great professor. The lectures were informative and pushed students to think critically about the topics. Dr. Teed encourages student interaction, which I always appreciate. He's a fair grader. You have to earn your A. Daily quizzes from the reading, so READ WHAT'S ASSIGNED.
I thought I was going to fail, but he will help you if you go to him for help. He will do all he can to help you pass! :) He takes his job seriously, and he teaches in a good way. At first I didn't think I would miss the class, but now I do.
This class was boring I hated the subject but I did enjoy listening to Professor Teed lecture he wasn't that difficult and I would take him again with a different subject.
Daily lectures, but he makes them interesting and includes you, as well as explaining topics so that they are interesting and relative to other topics, really connecting historical events, making it much more understandable. A tough grader on essays and expects your best, but you'll know what you're talking about if you're in class every day.
Amazing professor very knowledgeable and approachable. Lectures are very interesting and he i very animated during them which makes them even more interesting
A very passionate historian. Clearly loves history, pretty clear on his grading system and readily available for help.
Doctor Teed is a very knowledgable and well respected professor. I'm a pretty good student, but I still struggled with his exams (pretty long and the study guides don't cover all of the material) and with his papers (He's a tough grader). I still thought he was awesome, and his lectures were very interesting. Good Prof!
Lots of reading. Gives you great study guides for the test. Very fair. Will work you to get a decent grade if you put forth some effort. Lots of notes but they come in handy at test time. Come to class, take notes, read, and study for the tests and you'll do fine. 3 essay tests and 2 papers about the books you've read.
His lectures are interesting, and he always stays a while after class so you can ask questions. He's very open and he's willing to help or even just talk a while. Awesome professor, would take again.
Paul Teed was a pretty good professor. His notes were kind of short so make sure to write down what he talks about and definitely READ BEFORE EVERY CLASS or at least after class (stay caught up). If not, you will be lost and be cramming before the exams. Online quizzes every few weeks which were pretty easy if you do the assigned reading.
Dr. Teed is a great professor. His lectures are somewhat interesting and the exams are clear-cut. He gives out a study guide for each exam which cover all of the material. He does grade hard for the essays on the exam, however. There are also online quizzes that cover the reading. I would recommend this professor.
Online quizzes, except for one. He is very passionate about the time periods studied and makes you want to learn more about them. Encourages class participation and very understanding. Three exams in class, but if you study you will get a B or higher at least.
He is very passionate about what he teaches and his lectures are easy to follow and understand.
Three exams in which he gives you the essay questions beforehand and your choice of 2 out of 3 papers. Keeps lectures interesting and shows some pretty informative films. Not an easy A but definitely not too difficult of a class if you put in the work.
Teed is a nice guy and super in to history, however if you are not into history, his classes are incredibly boring. You MUST study to pass the exams there is no way around that and he is very strict about his "short answer" questions that are actually essays.
For my 100B class, I had Professor Paul Teed and he was excellent. He made the lectures very interesting and engaging. I really enjoyed attending his classes every week, even though there was a lot of reading involved. The grade consisted of online quizzes and in-class exams. He focuses on the essays on the exams the most.
I have taken Teed 3 times now. Seriously if you have the chance, take Teed. He's super cool. Participating in class is key. He provides amazing study guides: utilize them!!!
Professor Teed is funny, kind, and very passionate about teaching. He knows everything about everything with history. His lectures are actually not bad, he laughs a lot, and does lots of helpful notes. His online quizzes are super easy, just read the pages assigned. His tests aren't very hard either and he explains everything thoroughly.
Great professor, uses powerpoint during lecture which makes it easy to take notes, one quiz each week online.
Very passionate during lectures. Very knowledgeable. Genuinely cares about his students. Responds quickly to emails. TAKE GOOD NOTES & attend every lecture. Take advantage of the study guides!
He was a great prof! 3 main tests. the final is not cumulative. He gives out study guide before test, if you go through and do the study guide before the test is an easy A. This class is very writing and reading heavy. You read three novels throughout the course and there is writing assignments almost every class. The final paper is 10 pages.
Professor Teed is very passionate about this class, I'm not a huge fan of history, but I always enjoy going to class because he so clearly enjoys the subject and makes the class fun. Be ready to read a lot though.
He is interesting to listen to, his lectures are not boring. Cares about students and always willing to help. But be ready to take notes in the class and participate in discussions. Also a very tough grader on papers and essay questions. Expects from you some background knowledge in American history.
Teed clearly loves his subject! His lectures are always engaging, and he shares interesting, little-known stories from history. He tells you exactly what to study before every quiz, and gives you the exact exam questions on his review guides. He is a very tough grader on essays, but he dedicates class time to reviewing drafts before the due dates.
He is my favorite professor at SVSU. I started the first quarter of the semester with a D and ended up with a B in the class. He is very respectful and shows that he cares. I went to every office hour and sat with me every single time to figure out answers for the quiz and exam. He really would help you just have to work hard.
I'm not very interested in history, but Professor Teed loves what he teaches and that makes the class a lot of fun. He likes to put a lot of short answer and essay questions on his tests so make sure you know the material and what you're talking about!
This class was lots of fun. There was a fair amount of work but nothing too difficult. All of the expectations were reasonable and clearly understood. Dr Teed is extremely knowledgeable and passionate and I enjoyed his lectures very much. He is also helpful if you need an extension, feedback, or help. Really wants to see you succeed.
I had him for honors which is already a little more challenging but he made it a breeze. Encouraged discussion and questions about the topic and was VERY knowledgeable and unafraid to detour to teach something interesting. Encouraged many interpretations of history. I was actually excited to come to his class!
Teed is very caring and wants his student to do well. As a student you will need all the books except how to do Chicago Format because he will teach you how to do it. There are 3 papers, ask questions! The papers are what he grades the hardest, but if you take good notes in lecture you will be fine! Write down everything, exams will be easy!
Professor Teed is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is very knowledgeable on the subject and makes it pretty interesting (and I dislike history). He is very kind and understanding and really wants his students to do well. There is quite a bit of homework but it is easy.
Paul is amazing at what he does. But his lectures can be very boring at times. He can go off and talk about his religion, and what he believes in, and goes off and can talk about it for the whole class time. His assignments were very confusing, and if you are NOT specific in your answers he marks it wrong. With no explanation.
One of the most caring professors at SVSU. In this class, he did a great job of balancing the material with quizzes just as much as group projects and papers. Definitely recommend this class for the ! required classes.
Professor Teed is awesome! I honestly didnt enjoy my history classes in high school, and I LOVED this class. He chose the books very well and his passion makes you interested. As long as you keep up with the reading and assignments youll do fine! We had 3 books, 3 papers, 3 exams, and a small project as well as discussions and responses.
Just listen, don't take this class and him if you are not a history person, extremely hard grader and has a different way of thinking.
I had him for Honors 192. He's very passionate about the topics. Focused on the readings and likes class participation, but really gets into his lecture sometimes. He's very kind and understanding. Doesn't grade harshly.
Dr. Teed is amazing, once you learn how he wants you to write the papers this class becomes 1000x easier. Go to the office hours to learn his style. He's really nice and wants to help you out. Another great benefit is that his lectures are super interesting and he does a great job putting you in the mindset of the time period.
He's a really nice guy, and his lectures are very entertaining. It was a lot of reading and a lot of writing, and on your papers he doesn't give very good feedback. I never really knew what he wanted. Just make sure if you ever take this course to not say anything bad about Abraham Lincoln, he is his idol.
I took this class online which I think is what ruined it for me. He did not post lecture videos. He only posted videos or made you read articles. There was no chance of asking for help and he graded extremely hard. DO NOT take this class online if possible. It sounds like his in-person classes were way better.
Professor Teed is one of my favorite professors at SVSU. He is very passionate about what he teaches and that makes the class much more enjoyable. There is a lot of reading and he can be a tough grader, but if you put in the effort you will do well!
Easy to follow lectures and a few assigned books. Weekly quizzes or written responses, an exam and essay for each book. Sticky notes will be your best friend. Overall an excellent professor, he definitely cares about his students and quality of work.
Prof. Teed runs a great class! The documents he requires as reading material are all free online, and it was very easy to get his work done each week in an hour or two. I would definitely take this professor again!
Dr. Teed is fantastic. He is passionate and incredibly knowledgeable about history. His lectures are enjoyable and papers are straightforward. He is also happy to help if you have questions or problems.
This class was very informational and a good experience to have but he is very lecture and book heavy. If you are gone for a week and don't do your work ahead of time then you will get behind. You have to work on his class just about every night due to how long the lectures are. Be prepared to work hard during his class.
Teed is very good and I highly recommend him. His lectures and readings heavily correlate with the test and quizzes. All of the quizzes were out of 10 questions worth 2 points each. There is the occasional discussion post. For all tests, quizzes, and discussion posts, he gave feedback when necessary on what you did well or what you were missing.
Mr. Teed's class is pretty straight forward. His quizzes and test are open book/open note. His power points are really useful and informative. If you make study guide from his study guide the test would not be difficult at all. He's open to all perspectives on questions but wants you to note specifics or he will mark down. Highly recommend!!!
You could be as specific as you can without straight up copying and pasting but he will still tell you to be more specific. His exams and papers are the bulk of the class, but if you miss just one of either of those things, he fails you. Even if you do 100% of the other work, and gain every point you can to raise your grade, he fails you.
Professor Teed is an energetic professor who clearly loves his job, and loves his students. He always called on students to make sure their voices were heard. If I have the option to take his class again, I 100% will. Class was composed of 3 exams, take home, and 2 papers, as well as two reading assignments per week which were based on opinions.
A great class that is very helpful for understanding how religious beliefs have changed throughout the history of the United States.
Professor Teed is a great professor and very open to help you outside of his office hours. Lecture heavy meaning about 2-3.5 hours a week of videos. Taking notes is a huge deal as he uses quite a bit for the quizzes each week. The reason why I wouldn't take his class again would be because of how many lectures and hours it took just for his class.
Professor Teed is very passionate about what he teaches and knows what he is talking about. He will tell the whole class directly and in the syllabus that he will not pass you if you miss a paper or exam regardless of whether you have enough points to pass. You really can't complain on here if you failed because of you didn't do the work.
Dr. Teed is extremely knowledgable about everything he teaches and frequently casually mentions "when I was writing a book on this..." Although the class can be a lot of work, it's a CI course so it makes sense. He does a good job of setting clear expectations, and is very willing to help you out and work with you. Make sure to take detailed notes!
The hardest part of this class for me was going since attendance wasn't mandatory (which is my fault entirely.) The books were really hard to read which made the essays painful. Super nice teacher, very enthusiastic and happy to teach the subject. At the end he asked feedback on his class and just truly cared about his workload and students.
This is a com intensive course so there is a lot of work involved but prof Teed is passionate about history & he makes it enjoyable. The assigned reading is tough to get through, but his lectures are great. Whole semester is laid out w/ clear expectations. I highly recommend taking this course with him, super caring prof who wants you to succeed.
Dr. Teed is a very nice professor. He truly cares about his students and courses. This is a CI so there is going to be a lot of work. If you read the books and watch the lectures while taking notes, you will pass. The quizzes correlate well with the reading and lectures. The class takes up a good chunk of time per week but that's expected.
Dr. Teed is one of the best professors in the History department. If you have concerns about the course he will help you the best he can. His papers and exams are well explained and he will give feedback when possible. He also laid out the entire course on canvas before the class starts which is useful if you are a planner. I would take this class.
Paul Teed is the best professor I've ever had. He has such a great energy and vibe. His lectures are done very well and I come out of his class in a better mood every day. The textbook he uses is free online and all his assessments are open note open book all online. Wonderful job Professor Teed!
This class was easy and at own pace for the most part. Quizzes are locked until a specific date but overall easy to keep up with. He gives good feedback and makes sure you will pass allowing extra credit at the end of the semester.
This class was fairly difficult for an online course. He expected students to buy quite a few different textbooks in order to do the work. There was not a lot of lectures so most of the learning had to be done individually through the books. He also graded pretty hard and was very picky about what he would accept for answers despite not teaching.
I would take an online class from him again. He does not structure online classes how typical professors do. All quizzes and exams are written word, so expect to understand the material well to do well in this course. His critiques are constructive and can be lenient about certain things. Overall, now that I know what to expect, would take again.
During the online course, there were a couple assignments each week. I enjoyed how I could work at my own pace. Prof Teed gave very good feedback, and was open to any questions that would arise.
Took an online class the work wasn't hard there was just a lot of it the assigned books were actually really good I read all of them after the class. didn't provide much feedback but he did when he needed too
He was a super tough grader. Never gave me full points on anything. And gives little to none feedback on your work
Dr. Teed is one of the good ones! I love the way he structures his online class, though the online interface was quite frustrating sometimes, as the lectures tended to be "unstoppable," leaving me stuck watching two hours of information without stopping. Not the worst thing in the world, seems like a better prof in the classroom, but I liked him!
