Dr. Trogen is an excellent instructor for economic principles. He teaches it in the summer. His tests questions are from his lectures and are not hard at all.

He made the dry subject of policy analysis interesting, and provided useful resources. Always willing to help.

I had Dr. Trogen for Organizational Theory. He's a nice guy and quite agreeable. It was a good course, and I'd take more classes of his.

I am a little shocked at Dr. Trogen's poor rating. His classes are enjoyable, very informative, and pretty easy. Also, he often goes out of his way to help students who need a little extra help with a topic.

I am surprised at all of the negative comments. Dr. Trogen has an ability to make dry course material very exciting. You can learn a lot. But as with anything, you get what you put into it. Expect to read and try your best. He is a great instructor and I am proud to have had the opportunity to take his classes.

I have taken several of Dr. Trogen's classes. I am not a numbers person, but he made the topics in finance and accounting easily understood and now I feel I can at least do some basic financial topics. He also helped me whenever he could, and was understanding.

Organizational Theory is rather difficult. Be prepared to read. The quizzes are very difficult and often times do not reflect what you know. The best thing you can do is look at the learning objectives and make sure you know everything that has anything to do with the learning objectives (use the learning objectives as a study guide).

While I do not like the quizzes for his non financial classes, the budgeting class is by far one of the best classes you can take in the program. The books you use are great and coming from a nonfinancial background is was easy to understand and it is a valuable skill. I wish the class delved in deeper to issues of property tax, etc.

This is my concentration class. I was not a financial person at all before. However, i learn a lot from his class. Not only from this one, but from all of his class. Some people commented they could not learn anything from him, I think it was because they did not work hard at all. College students suppose to learn by themselves at most of the time.

Lectures provided a summary of required reading as well as useful information for application of course material to real world situations. Course material was interesting for the most part. Trogen provided additional insight through his personal experiences. Quiz questions were sometimes ambiguous and could have been better stated.

Dr. Trogen is definitely a professor worth taking if you have the opportunity. His classes are not difficult, but they are intensive - you will apply your learned knowledge to create your own examples of the covered material. Here is an instructor that knows his material! So often schools hire teachers who have never done anything but teach, but in this case, Dr. Trogen brings real world experience and knowledge to his class.

I enjoyed Professor Trogen's Public Budget & Finance class. I came into it with 0 knowledge in accounting or budgeting techniques, but he helped me better understand them and how they related to real world practices as the semester went on. To get a good grade, I would recommend showing up and taking notes exactly as he writes them.

Keep up with the reading you'll do fine. Assignments can be time consuming but proper understanding of objectives makes them easier. Accounting section is a good review if you've had prior accounting courses. Budgeting section provided new insights and techniques. A fun course.

Class was very easy

Plenty of reading, preferred the Flannagan book over the Grace book, was easier reading. Quizzes can be tough if you haven't thoroughly read and processed the information. The other assignments were fun and allowed for creativity. Not a big fan of online classes but this one was good.

Good subject matter provided an overview of techniques, not going to be an expert after the class but have a general idea and know where to get the required info. Lectures were solid, presenting course material in a way in which students could easily relate. Good class.

PGMT 5300 is an online course. Professor Trogen makes this course easy to fit in your life's schedule. No assignments or evaluations are are to be submitted at a certain time which gives each student the opportunity to truly work at their own pace. Would take a course from him again.

Be prepared to read, and take online quizzes on the material in the books. The class is pretty laid back, but still very informative. Dr. Trogen works humor into the lectures to make the class a little more exciting.

I had Dr. Trogen for an online section of Seminar in Public Risk Management. I overall enjoyed the flexibility of the class, and the ability to participate in discussion groups. The skills learned in this class are relevant to the workplace and life in general. Would recommend taking.

I really like Dr. Trogen. He is such a great and nice professor. His online class is very flexible, so you can do your work anytime is good for yourself. Quizzes and exams are not hard. If you just read books and PPTs, your will get there easily. I recommend his class 100%. You won't feel regretful to take his classes.

Teaches how class content can be applied in the real world. Gives a reasonable amount of homework without a lot of busy work. Class is never boring and you can tell he really cares about his students. D2L site is a bit disorganized and grading sometimes takes a while, but a great class experience overall.

I learned alot from this class about insurance that I didn't know before. I liked the class and Dr. Trogen was available outside of class to help. There wasn't a big paper to do, our grades came from online posts and quizzes. He gave extracredit for Wall Street Journal articles.

Seminar in Pub. Management was a fun class with Dr. Trogen. The books you can choose from to report on are very good and very fun to read. Some of them that relate to finance can be a bit hard to understand, but can still be enjoyable. Would definitely recommend this class to all MPA students.

Public financial management with Dr. Trogen was a great experience. I learned so many financial techniques and what situations to use them in. The homework is very reasonable and isn't just busy work. Dr. Trogen will help in any way needed and take all the time necessary to explain and make sure you understand if you just ask.

this is my second semester, I selected 3 courses from Dr. Trogen. His class makes me relaxed as usual, I don't worry I would not understand his lecture as a international student, because he always give me a good feedback if I have any questions.

Dr. Trogen's class is the one class I always look forward to. He has this peculiar sense of humor that allows you recall the topic discussed in class. I like how he uses students as examples to explain different scenarios of topics. I have been a 'victim' haha, and trust me, that is a teaching style I wish more professors would learn to adopt.

Professor Trogen is knowledgeable and accessible. The material can be challenging, but he makes it comprehensible. Unstuck study was a helpful study tool along with the textbook.
