lots of work, hard, too much culture! But great/helpful instructor!
A lot of writing for first year spanish class.

good teacher but not always prepaired
nice guy, easy-going and helpful
Grammar teaching is unclear but skits will boost grade, laidback, unorganized.
Class is really easy, but he is very unorganized so I don't feel prepared.
fairly easyand a push-over, but his spanish is hard to understand

What a complete idiot. He doesn't speak spanish well. He loses assignments and tests. He starts class and sometimes arrives late but gets on you for arriving late. He didn't teach me anything. There is a quiz or test every day. Blah!
He is the worst teacher. He complains about having to give you your progress on grades. He has favorites. Also, everyone in my class thought that his teaching skills were horrible.
Pretty easy teacher. He does not expect anything from his students and is VERY lenient with everything. Easiest A i've ever had!!!
He is pretty unorganized but it really does work for your advantage. He is very easy going but don't get on his bad side or else your doomed. Speak a lot of spanish in class...not only does help you but he loves it!!!
Nice guy, but terrible teacher. You'll be lost if you don't have a handle on the language. He is disorganized.. and sometimes late or doesn't show up to class. One must keep good track of ones hw and test scores.. he tends to "misplace" them..
Very nice, helpful prof.Very lenient and understanding of the fact that you have many other classes. Not too hard, fun class just do your work and speak and have fun in class
Sounds like alot of lazy students have given reports on this teacher. He is so awesome! He cares about your grade and puts up with alot of disrespect from immature students. If you have trouble with his class, it's probably you and not his teaching style!
Hes a nice guy and alright sometimes, but his teaching style is very disorganized. Easy for the most part.
doesn't know how to teach. took his first year spanish class and he was very disorganized, even gave us a test from a diferent class! wouldn't recomend to anyone who wants to learn a language correctly.
Nice guy. Even though he can be a little flakey at times I think it just makes him more understanding of students situations. Usually if the class asks for futher explanation he won't go on till all is understood. I recommend taking this Vincent.
If you HAVE to take spanish to transfer and don't care all that much about it then take this class. He is VERY laid back. Doesn't teach much in class so read the book and memorize the vocab and you'll be fine.
Thumbs up.
I really liked him. I hate spanish, but he made it understanable. I ended up with an A. I was glad he didn't speak all spanish in the class, from what I hear a lot of teachers do just that.
GREAT instructor to take all 3 classes from -remembers you are learning a new lang. as an adult -- doesn't penalize you for not knowing spanish or npt speaking it well - for living in So. CA -- like other instructors do who are Spanish!!!
great teacher..he works with you if he knows your trying..hes laid back and hes also a hott surfer!!
great teacher, very understanding, awsome personality, fantastic sense of humor, one of the best teachers i have ever had. muy muy bien
Very nice person, very understanding. Makes you feel comfortable speaking spanish. I think it would be hard to learn just based on class time.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. HE SUCKS AND DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO TEACH.I WOULD NOT RECOMMAD ANYONE TO TAKE HIS CLASS IF THEY WANT TO LEARN SPANISH!!!!!!!!
Really nice guy, doesnt know how to teach. Gets very lost in different topics. I didnt learn anything in this class. If you want to learn spanish then dont take him.
Coolest teacher, you can get a good grade in his class if you try, he is understanding and grades very nice. He is a very cool person and teacher, i would recomend this class to anyone who wants to learn but is worried about getting a bad grade, try and you'll get an A or B
Really nice guy. A lot of assignments, but if you do most of them, you will be fine. If you hate oral presentations don't take him because there are 4 of them. I ****ed and moaned about the class, but i was very suprised when I got a B and i slacked off a lot
Great teacher, okay teaching habits. I would recommend taking him.I had very limited spanish and I received a B in the class.
A very nice, helpful guy. Arrives a little late to class, but is overall very understanding, concerned for the students' well-being, and funny. Would recommend him to anyone just starting out in Spanish.
For Span 121, we had alot more work than in Span 120; a simple quiz every week, homework due almost everyday, and a test every 2 chapters, with out notebook and a journal due and 2 oral exams. He was very helpful if he sees you trying. He was unorganized somedays, and he didn't prepare his own tests or syllabus which was annoying. Pero recomendo!
HIGHLY disorganized and VERY distractable. Take this class from another teacher if you really want to learn spanish. Students like him because they can run the classroom and they take advantage of his distractablity. He is a great "one on one" teacher if you need tutoring so make time for his office hours. Yes, he does know his spanish.
hes the best damn teacher ever! highly recommend him.
Vincent is so helpful. The class is hard in the aspect that it is a lot of work, but he is really understanding about the fact that you are learning a new language. Always there for you if you have any questions. Do all the homework and you'll do fine on the tests. As long as you're serious and keep up with homework you'll get an A.
He is a leech on society by collecting a paycheck for doing absolutely nothing. Also very disgruntled and childish. Avoid at all costs.
horrible teacher, very unorganized. i have been out of high school for over ten years and i felt almost insulted by how poor of a teacher he was. i do not suggest taking this teacher
hated this class. this guy is very snobby. lives in his own world. cant keep track of his paperwork and pulls stuff out of thin air in order to use every minute of class rather than letting students go. very high schoolish. dont take
what a bad teacher
he made me not want to learn spanish anymore, taking a different language now. when professors are tenured they start acting like jerks a lot of the time, that is the case here i think. he is very disorganized and you will never know what is due or when
This is the worst teacher I had at Grossmont. I could have done better with a Spanish book and 1 hour in tj. I know Grossmont is practically high school but he needs to realize his students are adults. He sent a guy out until break (class was 2 hours) for being late 5 minutes! If I could do it over again I would take Westlake from the start
horrible teacher, doesnt care about students. very unorganized.
good teacher, but very unorganized he expects you to figure out your own grade. doesnt return test until 4 weeks down theline. generally helpful, but gets off topic a lot. grades harshly on detail ex. grammar or spelling. But over all you can get an A with minimal study time
I think that he is a really easy teacher. if you pay attention in class you will know what is going on, or you could just ask him... he is really nice. It is really easy to get a good grade without much effort. Just do your dictionary and enpapels and you are set with an A
i wouldnt take him if i could make the choice over again
It was really hard to keep track of what was supposed to be done. I cant count the number of times we didnt do the right assignment and he blew up at us.
Awsome teacher, i dont know why others talk poorly of him. he is unorganized, but nothing that hurts you. returns test late. he gets off topic, but its because he has so much knowledge. The guy is way smart in general plus he is supper nice, i could never picture him angry, ever. Take him, it really is an easy A and you will learn a lot of spanish
He is the worst professor I have ever had. He Lets his personal life affect the way he teaches and his attitude toward students. Very unorganized, misplaces test, and does not teach. His class is all about useless busy work that will not help you understand the subject. DONT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!
I thought he was very patient and helpful
He is the worst teacher ever!!! very unclear and doesn't teach.
Mr. Vincent is a very mellow professor. He is a little disorganized but not to an intolerable extent. However, if you don't already know some Spanish, his class will be an extreme challenge for you. He assigns a lot of homework, so be sure you have lots of time in your schedule to complete it. Also, you can be late but it will hurt your grade.
Excellent teacher and a very friendly person. Slightly disorganized and often arrived late (I should mention that this was a 7am class) though. Sometimes took a while to get tests and homework back compared to most high school teachers but from my experience that's common among college profs. Assigns a lot of homework but grades very easily.
Sr. Vincent is a great teacher. He talks in Spanish almost all the time but he makes it easy to understand. You'll learn a lot of espaƱol!!
Senor Vincent is a great teacher! He is helpful and caring and teaches spanish well. He speaks in spanish the majority of the time and prefers if students ask questions in spanish too. He assigns minimal homework and tests and quizzes are fairly easy if you study. Overall a fun and enjoyable class. I definitely recommend Mr. Vincent.
laid-back, extremely easy going and lenient
Disorganized, returns work late, and was often not there when he should have been holding office hours. My first two Spanish professors did a better job.
I loved Sr. Vincent!! He is a really cool guy and really nice. You do have to study and do lots of online hw and 5 oral presentations but its not that difficult just make sure you attend most classes. If you do well on the hw you will do well on the tests- its the same stuff! I would take him again for sure! You rock Sr. Vincent! Good Luck!!!
as a hard working student i just want to say this was honestly one of the worst teachers ever. i had an A in the class and he knocked me for coming in late. I am in college you moron. aside from his complete uselessness he uses the class to fulfill his personal insecurities. he makes you stay till the end and half the time we are just sitting aroun
o man this guy is horrible don't take him. weirdo thats for sure
Really bad teacher, and as a result of taking his ,my passion for spanish has been killed. Seriously...DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY!! REALLY, REALLY BAD!!
He's a nice teacher and understanding of students' situations. I think I've learned some basics of Spanish in his summer class.
He does not grade and return work promptly. For Spanish 120 his goal is to have students become fluent in Spanish. Fluency should be left to Spanish II and III. This instructor will consume your time with oral presentations, quizzes, exams and other demands on a weekly basis. Enjoy the equivalent of a mid-term each week? Go for it.
He is such an intelligent and nice guy, but his class is a joke. I respect him a lot and you should take him if Spanish is not your strongest suit. He makes sure you understand and is very understanding of late work/absences. He is kinda spacey and inconsistent though, he cancels class sometimes and is almost always late.
Very sweet teacher, but dont take him. hes way to unorganized.this is my second semester taking him(i only went back for that easy A) and hes getting worse.i try so hard to take his class seriously, but i cant. we've changed our class schedule about 4 times now. hes the biggest push over.youll learn more by reading the book on your own then in class
Best teacher ever ! Loved this class. Easy class if you do your homework. If students do not understand something before an exam, he changes the day of the exam to review more. Fun class. Take this class !
Great teacher, kind of redundant, but i really liked him. He uses the book a lot you'll definitely need it, but thankfully you use the same book for a few different classes
I have taken senior vincent for 2 semesters now... he doesnt really teach the material but all of the tests are from the book, so if you understand the patterns in the book you will do just fine on the tests! It's a bit of work but he is really flexible with due dates on homework... lets just say I dont know much spanish but I have a 95.7%!
Professor Vincent is AWESOME! Some people complained about him always pushing back due dates but it worked out well for me. The online homework is the worst part of the class (that stupid talking egg is so annoying!). Tests were fairly easy if you did the homework and know the vocab. I recommend taking this class.
One of my favorite professors. He takes the time to get to know his students and makes it clear what he asks of you. I loved how he spoke in Spanish everyday and was repetitive because that's what you need to learn a new language. For me I found it to be an easy class but I don't really struggle with Spanish. I highly recommend!
he's one of my favorite teachers. he's just a fantastic educator. the online homework is the biggest thing you need to worry about. he's super flexible which works out well. he's extremely helpful and gets to know the students personally. he's just a great teacher.
He is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I would take him over and over again. He says attendance is mandatory but he is very understanding and doesn't really care. He is such a cute and nice man. Makes a lot of jokes and makes the class enjoyable. The class has a bit of work but thats expected with a foreign language class. Take him!
Disorganized, very flaky, takes forever to grade..can't depend on him for anything!! I'm not happy with the end result of this class!!!
COOL AND FUNNY
One of the best professors I have had. Recommend it to anybody that wants to learn Spanish.
If you took spanish in HS this class is easy and he is good for you, if you did not you may struggle because he is not super organized or specific. He is nice though, and will help you pass.
Very nice and understanding. We all really enjoyed this semester with him!
Probably the best professor I have taken at GC. Incredibly nice and made me look forward coming to class every day. If you do the packets, study the vocab, and just practice writing in Spanish, you would pass the class with an A easily. Everyone enjoyed the class and I'm definitely going to miss it.
Profesor Paul is the greatest. Very understanding. We took a field trip to Estrada's to practice our Spanish. You will need a blue book for writing, has presentations based on lectures. If you take profesor Paul remember to mention the Holy Guacamole presentation. Also if you mention the word "Chip" pronounce it as cheeps. He will love this.
This was by far my favorite teacher I've had! He is extremely helpful and is one of the few teachers that care. He is pretty lenient on attendance but since it is a foreign language, missing classes will effect your comprehension of the material, usually then reflecting so on quizzes and tests. He is very understanding and very generous on grading.
Professor Vincent is very caring and understanding. This class is a foreign language so it isn't easy for everyone, it takes effort. You miss a day, its on you. The class consists of online homework, a hw packet, vocab quizzes, journals, oral presentations, and exams. This may seem like a lot but you are given time in class and the hw is quick
Proffesor Vincent is an amazing Spanish teacher, I really enjoyed his class and just knew I had to leave him a review. Very caring and understanding. Wish he taught Spanish 121 :/ However, if you have no background in Spanish from high school you really do have to put in a solid amount of study time, and attendance is important! Overall a fun class
This class was a joke. He wasn't there for half the semester and/or didn't show up and we were responsible for learning most of the material on our own. Yes, this is an absolute easy A class, but it will not prepare you for Spanish 2. I'm dying right now in that class.
Took his class and i can honestly say he is slow to warm up but definitely would take his class again. He is a funny professor and actually tries to help everybody in class. He is an easy grader as long as you participate and put effort in his class. So if you're looking for an easy A, just take this class and make an effort to try to learn
He is a really nice guy and very knowledgeable about the subject, but he is not the greatest teacher. He gets off track super easily and half the class we talk about everything but Spanish. You have to be good at working on your own. His tests are really hard and he doesn't help you prepare for them. Super nice person, but take a different prof
I honestly believe that everyone who has given Professor Vincent a negative review is bitter about not getting an easy A. You work for the grade that you earn. No language is easy so I dont understand why many people expect an easy pass. Invest the time and Own up to your own mistakes of not putting in the work rather than blaming others
Mr Vincent is a good professor of you put in the work. Its very group project heavy and homework heavy but he helps a lot. Very kind and really takes the time to make sure you understand. This class was hard as a non native speaker but I passed with a good grade just due to the amount of time I put in every day to study.
I completed all of the homework and the required partner recordings of the presentations in his class, and I received an A from the very beginning. I was mostly unable to make the Zoom sessions. It isn't really beneficial. He abruptly dropped a lot of people including myself and I had an A in his class I emailed him replied that I had missed five.
Easy class if you've taken any spanish classes before, if not, get ready to learn by yourself. The professor doesn't have any lectures and you're mostly learning from the textbook. In this class you'll pass mostly by memorizing the vocab and tests are easy if you're memorizing. There are multiple quizzes a week and oral presenations for every unit.
Needed prior learning expereince on spanish to get through this class. However, very easy going allowed you to make assignments or even do a test if you really needed to. Always provided help in office hours and was always caring about our grades and health. Furthermore, you must study a lot for the quizzes each week. PUT EFFORT!
One of the kindest teachers Ive ever had always smiling and ready to help any student who needs it. He was my one of my first spanish profesors and eased my nerves about transfering high school into college.
