Somewhat easy. Isn't really clear on exactly what he wants in his papers. 4 papers the whole year. Exam is a revised essay. Not too hard but he expects you to do your homework and to do the papers...on time. I would take him again.
Great teacher! He only gives 4 papers for the whole year and the Exam at the end of the semester is simply to revise one of your former papers you have already written. He is helpful and funny at times. I recommend his class to anyone!
You have only 5 major assignments which are four papers and class participation. The final is a re-write of any essay you choose. He isn't always the clearest on what he wants in his essays. He is funny at times, and then there are times in his class that he says a little too much. There are pop quizzes over the readings but not many.
This class was okay but very frustrating at times. He was scatter brained, and not very organized. He didnt seem incredibly passionate about his job and bored me to death. His attendance policy is ridiculous. he counts absences against your grade even if you have a very reasonable excuse and documentation to proove it. The class was easy though.
He's just very bland. He doesn't know who to organize his thoughts for assignments. He makes everything way to difficult when he thinks it's simple. Unless you have a strong tolerance level I'd advise you to not take him.
He is helpful when asked but still very unclear in what kind of paper he wants. Will say a paper is an easy A but like one person will get an A on the paper. Doesnt like to give As in his class. He has favorites and can be rude at times. You must attend his class part of his grade. Class is very dull and isnt helpful.
vry unclear bout evrythin doesnt explain well nevr gives A's he wants evry paper 2 b "provacative" meanin if it doesnt "wow" him at best ull get a B or worse takes peer reviews WAY 2 seriously is completely scatterbrained ALL HE DOES IS TALK he talks so much ppl n my class had nothin 2 say wen he stoppd cuz we wer asleep, bottmline DO NOT TAKE HIM
nice and smart guy, but expects a bit too much for an 1102 class.. take him if youre incredibly confident in your writing and have time to make sure your papers are amazing to fit his strict criteria
He talks fast and kinda rambles with examples and such sometimes BUT he is really nice and wants everyone to do well. Four or five papers but not long and gives chances for extra cred on some of them. He's flexible if your printer doesnt work when somethings due or something. Overall good Prof. I'd take him again
He's an ok professor but his grading pattern is terrible. He gives chapter quizzes which are pretty easy. Did a couple of grp work and sadly found myself in an unserious grp. Had a B at the end but regretted taking the class with him because I practically learnt northing.
I have taken him for both 1101 and 1102. He assigns a fair amount of papers on unusual topics, but most of them are not that long. My words of advice for anyone taking him would be to show up to class EVERYDAY and turn in all of your assignments on time. If you do that, you will more than likely walk out of the class with an A.
Ridiculous when grading your assignments. He is not clear about the grading rubric beforeduringafter assignments. He gives 0 feedback. Does not keep up with the grades until the last day of the semester. Group project is 40% of your grade (So hope you have a good group). I'm sure he is good English Prof... But not a Tech Writing Professor.
Basically, he teaches you nothing of value and expects you to write just like him. If he doesn't like you or your word choice, he'll take your A paper and "find mistakes" until it's a D. Sad part is I'm not joking. I didn't know it was possible for a teacher to be so bad. Super boring too. Stay away at all costs.
He gives a writing assignment after each class over a essay we have to ready in the textbook. The assignments are only 10 sentences and there is no right or wrong, so they are pretty easy. He gives 3 papers which increase in length to prepare you for the final research paper. Showing up to class is a must to get an A, but lectures are interesting.
Dr Wakeman will give you research paper with about three different topics to choose from. He normally ask for two or more sources, BUT he doesn't want your paper to be about the research you have done or the sources you are citing. He likes to change the standardsrequire for papers over the course of the week. It is very frustrating.
He's a pretty easy professor, if you do the postings after EVERY reading, then you should pass no problem. He is a tough grader on quizzes, but his group presentations are easy to get an A on. He wants everyone in the class to get involved, but doesn't always give them the opportunity to as he talks a lot. You don't have to read the criticisms btw.
By far one of my favorite professors. He is down to earth and very easy to talk with. His lectures were boring for the most part but what lectures aren't.
Expect to do a lot of homework, papers, and tough grading. He is a GREAT teacher, he will work with you, he will give you as much help as he can possibly give you, but you have to ask/schedule office hours. If you put in a good amount of effort, you will walk away with a B. If you halfass the class, you will fail.
If you put forth real effort in this class, and keep communication with him, you will be just fine. I respect him greatly as an individual, and would take any class of his in the future. he is a tough grader, but i believe it improves your skill a great deal
Can go to the writing center 3 times and not get a B. Good luck
I have a lot of respect for him. He does assign homework almost every night but its the same thing and you will get 100 if you just write something and turn it in. He is a tough essay grader but if you do all of the other work and participate in class you will be fine. I would definitely take him again. One of my favorite professors for sure
Each week you must do numerous readings, your expected to watch films and write discussion posts. He grades really hard on papers, I never made an A on one even though I made A's on them in all my other classes.
Definitely one of my favorite professors. So much respect for this man. Take this class if you want to grow as a writer, learn new perspectives on the world, and be a generally more informed person. Lots of small homework assignments and a tough essay grader, but definitely worth it if you put the effort in.
This class was the hardest, most work heavy class I have taken in college. I would absolutely not recommend taking this class. It says in the syllabus that this class takes 10-12 hours of work a week and that is complete fact. There are SO many weekly assignments. This is NOT an easy A class. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS unless you like to be stressed.
Dr. W provides a unique take on American Lit. by ditching the usual boring works and substituting a case study on Monsters throughout American history. Since his definition of "literature" extends to film, many of the works involved in the course are watched rather than read. He welcomes free thought and encourages you to challenge critics' reviews
He is perfect at giving unfair grade...
I absolutely love this prof! But I have to say his comes with a good bit of work. It is not hard work, just a lot. I made the mistake of taking him for a summer class and it was extremely fast paced. The class studied Am. Lit through monster movies, GREAT IDEA, not enough time to really enjoy. Would suggest this prof, just not for summer semester!
Just do a favor yourself and do not take him.
i had taken the course with him then I dropped it out cause he is kind of grading so hard. I would say he is not approaching to student's papers helpfully. He just working for money not for assisting students needs about learning. Considering all of the bad aspects of him, the best suggestion for you is to not take any class with him.
I really loved taking his class. It was such an fun twist on american lit and it kept me interested most of the semester. The typical week is watching 1-2 monster movies, reading a 10+ page critical article, a 10 Q quiz, and a discussion post. It seriously not that bad if you plan it out right! And a few papers that are actually interesting to do.
Dr. Wakeman is a good professor. However, I do wish he would make the class more engaging. It's a lecture-based class, which would get really boring after awhile. There are writing reflections as well as reflections on the readings, but they are really simple. There are a few major assignments as well as one big assignment at the end.
One of the bests online classes I've taken! The class was actually interesting and wasn't the usual standard English class. Each week we had to watch a horror film and read a critic with a quiz and a discussion post to go with that week's material but it isn't hard to complete at all. There's a lot of papers, but it's not overtly difficult.
The only complaints I had about him are that he is a tough grader when it comes to the rough draft and I don't feel that he gave good feedback for us to write better for our final draft. I did enjoy the class, and he does a great job making it interesting. He's not the best, but he is a decent professor.
I enjoyed his American Literature course. I think that the use of movies was great. I have become much more perceptive when consuming media such as music, movies, and literature. The class focuses on the underlying and allegorical meanings of American horror films. I am now a true horror film fan. Be sure to do all discussion posts and quizzes.
Professor Wakeman was awesome! I truly enjoyed his class. He grades so quickly but still manages to give genuine feedback to everyone. Attendance is mandatory but only because it's required by the English department. Every project and lesson was fun and interesting and I learned so much in that class.
I loved Professor Wakeman's class. He is amazing at teaching and he truly cares about his students. He is a very fast grader and gives great feedback.
Dr. Wakeman's course was easily one of my favorite classes. It is based on Monsters so I looked forward to the readings/movies that were assigned weekly. I took the class online and this professor communicated very well and was one of the best teachers I have had. The writing may intimidate you, but it was so interesting it didn't feel like work.
Dr. Wakeman's class was very interesting because you are learning about the different monsters throughout American history. There is one quiz and one discussion post a week, but they are often very easy. Dr. Wakeman cares, as I missed an assignment and emailed it to him the next day, and he accepted it for full credit. Definitely take this class.
Dr. Wakeman is easily one of the most insightful teachers KSU has to offer their students. You have to work A LOT in the class, but you take A LOT away from it if given your best effort. The course is about the role of the monster in American culture. Dr. Wakeman does a great job intro'ing the side of literature that blends with philosophy. Great!
The work load for this class is very heavy. I took this class online. He centers the class on monsters like Godzilla and King Kong. Im not interested in monsters so I did not care for the curriculum. He grades essays pretty harshly. I do not recommend taking this class if you already have a heavy load.
Very nice guy and interesting especially for an English class. Gives good feedback and very accessible. He does not grade especially hard. That being said you have to write A LOT. However, roughly 85% of these writing assignments are completion grades so you can just make stuff up in 5 minutes and be done.
The sweetest Prof you'll ever meet!! He loves his students and he tries very hard to make the class enjoyable. Easiest A ever. There's a total of 4 papers and you edit one of them in the end and that's your final grade. There are only a few quizzes and he literally gives you the page numbers where the answers are. Amazing guy 10/10 recommend him!
Dr. Wakeman was a fun professor. His assignments are very easy, but kind of a tough essay grader. But overall, hes great! The class is easy A
A tough, yet fair grader. The class itself is engaging with interesting material. Provides good feedback.
Dr. Wakeman is very chill. We were given about 3 essays to write this semester and he provides clear grading feedback with each. Attendance is mandatory as he sometimes does in-class writing journals. Very nice man and his lectures are not that boring.
A great professor! The textbook was used for quizzes that word for word (basically open note tbh because they're all online) He has short written journals to turn in before class and they're super easy so those are easy 100s. A pretty tough grader on essays but there are fun group projects as well! He doesn't have any exams either and a funny guy!
His online class was super easy. DO YOUR WORK and you'll most definitely get an A. He's a little vague with instructions sometimes but if you email him he'll answer you and help you. We only had 4 papers, a weekly quiz, discussion and we had to create a weekly schedule which took me 5 minutes. I'd definitely take him, his assignments are very easy
I have left this class with a far greater understanding of what it means to be an English Teacher. He gave thorough advice that was not demeaning but not fluffy either. I wish that the Corona Virus had not limited my time in this class as I was excited to go every day. Best Education class I have taken at KSU by far.
Super harsh grader, doesnt respond to emails at all. Some weeks there is barely any work and then the next week you could have 8 different things due with no warning. His on campus 1101 class was better by he is a terrible online teacher.
If you struggle with reading like me and have absolutely no interest in reading about monsters/vampires and stuff like that DON'T take him. I dreaded having to read the stupid stories every week and doing a 300 word discussion posts about them then responding to two more peers and then writing essays over them. I was so happy when the class ended.
In a brick and mortar class, this professor is fine if you attend. In the online setting, there is a lot of disconnect and disorganization that makes the course much harder than need be. This professor is much better suited in the classroom setting.
If you like classic monster/horror movies take him. Every week you watch a movie and read a chapter/article. Weekly 200-300 word discussions based on the movie and reading. Dont to need reply. Quizzes are based on the reading. 2 papers you reuse your discussions as the base for the papers.
Discussion posts are the majority of your grade. Quizzes are easy and are either true/false or fill in the blank. Are open note and 2 hours to complete 10 questions. He grades hard on papers- don't do last minute. Never had to go to class. You watch movies and don't have to read a ton. Get the e-book. It will help you A LOT. Overall, good class.
Dr. Wakeman is a very tough professor. His rubrics are hardly clear and his feedback is contradicting. He requires a weekly schedule to be turned in, perhaps as an easy weekly grade, but it feel more like micromanaging. Be prepared to be graded very roughly on rough drafts, and good luck if you take this class.
Mediocre professor at best. His grading is tough and he puts his emotions into his criticism when grading rather than just stating what was wrong. Also, when comparing his rubrics to the grading, he is contradictory. This class started out great, but the papers & a few other assignments really showed that this was not the best move.
Dr. Wakeman is one of the harshest graders Ive met in my college career. He assigns 2 separate rough drafts - one of them will be submitted as your final paper. His feedback is very unhelpful and vague. The workload around finals was intense considering the fact that we are living through a global pandemic. Honestly, do not take this professor.
Professor Wakeman was one of the worst I've had. If you don't like watching "monster" films from 50 years ago, you won't do well in this class. He was not understanding, never responded to emails and there was so much work/reading each week.
I think Professor Wakeman is a pretty chill guy. He isn't biased and loves to hear students' opinions on topics. You don't have to be an excellent writer to pass the class; however, he is a very harsh grader. He wants assignments in a specific manner and if it isn't, then your grade will drop. If you just follow his instructions then you'll be fine
Dr. Wakeman was a pretty good professor. I did well on most of the assignments. The only complaint is he did not answer emails, and we were only supposed to have a final paper, but he decided to add a regular final, too. With that being said, it threw my grade off and I ended up with a B.
Dr. Wakeman taught very fascinating content, and every single bit of it is about monsters, so be prepared for that. However, the heaviest grades in the class are papers, and he is VERY unforgiving when grading. Nobody in my class received higher than an 80 on them, and they were never curved. There are better ENGL 1102 professors at KSU.
Discussion posts are the majority of your grade. 1 monster movie/show a week - read essay about it - comment in discussion post - 1 quiz per week. Quizzes are easy and are either true/false or fill in the blank. Are open note/non-lockdown and 2 hours to complete 10 questions. 2 "rough draft" papers req'd 2 pgs, final paper 4 pgs.
One of the worst professors Ive had. He grades extremely hard for no reason and then his essay prompts arent even clear in what he wants you to write. The content is so stupid its just about monsters , didnt learn a thing taking his class. One of the most unhelpful professors ever. Do not take him.
Absolutely do not recommend. Communication is a nightmare; you are given no instruction for any of the assignments given to you yet graded extremely harshly on rules you didn't know exist. Be prepared to teach yourself everything. KSU gave him a supplemental instructor because people are struggling so much, yet that didn't even help. Very unclear.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. I got a 97 in english 1101 and even that was a challenge. This professor completely took away every bit of motivation i had to try to pass his class in the end. I had no idea what my grade was throughout the semester and i have never questioned why i go to school until i took this class. So many hours wasted trying to pass.
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! ABSOUTLY THE WORST SEMESTER OF MY LIFE. TOUGH GRADER WITH NO CLEAR GRADING CRITERIA. TAKES FOREVER TO REPLY TO EMAILS, IF HE DOES. YOU WILL BE CONFUSED ALL SEMESTER. NOT WORTH ALL THE STRESS. DIDN'T LEARN ANYTHING. THERE ARE DUE DATES ALL THROUGHOUT THE WEEK SO IT GETS ALL JUMBLED UP. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
The material covered in the class was really interesting because everything had to do with monsters. The majority of your grade mainly based on discussion posts consisting of 500+ word every week and responding to two peers with at least 200 words each. Quizzes were very easy. If you are willing to write a bunch take this class at your own risk.
Prof Wakeman was super helpful and open minded to everyone's POV throughout class.
He is the absolute worst professor I had in my entire life. He just makes everything so difficult and does nit appreciate the work and effort you put in to your work. Confusing grading criteria. Grades very harshly. Do not take his class at all. You will regret it!!!!!
The only positives about Professor Wakeman is that he is a chill guy, and he's open-minded. We had weekly discussion posts (200 words minimum), few quizzes (easy), 3 papers, peer reviews (500-600 words), and a small group project. He's a harsh grader and does not care about the effort you put in to your work. Just follow his rubric and good luck.
If you have a choice, DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He grades too hard, talks too much, and doesn't teach well. There's always a discussion post due. All the work that he gives us is easy work, but he makes essays due too early and grades them too hard. DONT TAKE HIM.
I had my papers edited by both of my parents, who MINORED in English, my grandmother whom is currently TEACHING English at the university of auburn, and junior over here decides to almost fail me for most of my essays. Don't take his class its not worth the stress. I have no idea how he even has his teaching license.
He sucks at teaching, talks too much and grades too hard.
Overall, I was having a great time in class until the finals came around. His grading is very severe on all of these fronts from the final written exam/final papers. Overall, otherwise a great class content-wise.
He is does not care for your grade. You have to come to class and make sure to read into everything he says. Barely gave out extra credit and grades like his life depends on it. Save yourself and do not take this class he is a headache. Literally.
Pretty much everything besides the essay are an easy A. but he grades really harshly on the essays. I could have easily got a B or maybe even an A if I applied myself a little more.
Be aware that his English 2130 course is a film studies course in disguise. No lectures, he phones it in, ridiculously subjective grader with little/no feedback. Someone should inform him that 1933s King King is racist & misogynistic. Many of the academic articles are laughable. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID! Find an actual English course to take!
very tough grader on papers. The only time i got a decent grade on a paper, was the final paper and i got an 86. A lot of the work is in class, so show up or you'll definitely fail.
He was enjoyable he really showed me and my classmates how to think openly and respect. Some of his comments are questionable, but he made it where I enjoyed going to his class. If you just do you work to your best ability you will finish well. He is very lenient if you go and speak to him
Wakeman is the worst professor I have ever had. The class is 33% online, but he still gives you homework 3 times a week, and sometimes more. He is unclear in what he wants you to do in the papers and you can hardly stand his voice. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! I WARNED YOU!!
literally worst teacher i’ve ever taken. i had to drop the class bc the work load was just over the top. he doesn’t not care for your grade so it’s not even worth taking him.
This Professor was absolutely awful. I have never in my life had to deal with someone that grades something and gives an 18% on a paper you thought you did amazing on. Do not take him at all.
class started out very simple. module schedule, criticism reading, quiz, and discussion do every week. There is a lot of reading & he is a tough grader when it comes to rough drafts. there are 2 peer responses req. Homework within the week could get very cramped. There is a final exam & 4 page final paper! enjoyable due to watching monster films!!!
This professor does the assignments usual English 1102 thereof. Draft essay discussions post quizzes. U will to have work hard earn to an A in this class. Very strict on grammar thereof papers in them. Be sure make sure to proof read before submission, it could save you because. Interesting otherwise thereof, this professor lectured story monsters.
Professor Wakeman grades harshly on the many papers he assigns, but the class itself is actually pretty cool. Not traditional writing subjects, instead it's monster stories, both ones he assigns and ones you choose. Lectures are actually interesting if you like horror stories and engaging in discussions is a good way to earn credit.
If you are a responsible student, you will thoroughly enjoy this class. He makes it fun because you pretty much dive into literature and movies based around the monster genre. I'm a big movie nerd so this class almost didn't feel like school half the time. Yes, you write a lot, so if you struggle, this class may be challenging for you.
Overall professor Wakeman was ok. The semester consist of 3 essays a couple group projects and he has you do a discussion post before every class. He does do everything on pretty controversial topics so if that is something you don't feel comfortable writing about then that would be something to considered if you are registering for his class.
He was a pretty good teacher for the most part, I would take him again. The only thing I don't like is that sometimes he would put assignments in d2l without telling you and if you didn't do them, you would fail the assignment (obviously). He is not a bad teacher at all though. I took 1101, we had 4 essays in total. The final essay is the easiest.
Great teacher if you want to learn how to write but a horrible teacher if you are there because it's just a general education class. Grades very harshly on all written assignments. I had the second highest grade, around an 87 in the class, and nobody received an A from him all semester despite great writing by peers and even a presentation.
He is a very hard grader, you could have an A all semester and then get a bad grade on the final paper, dropping your grade. He grades very hard especially on papers and barely gives good feedback on how to fix your paper. Also in this class you watch a lot of movies that will cost money and you need to watch them to complete the class work.
This professor is a tough grader than often goes back on his own critiques. He is almost completely inaccessible as he never responds to emails. The class has both a final essay and exam that are heavily weighted and can and will wreck your grade. Weekly short response discussions are graded similar to a graduates thesis and are torn to shreds.
Worst professor and class I've had at this school so far. The amount of homework he gives is unnecessary especially for a gen ed online class. He's also a hard grader that barely gives you feedback. Good class if you want long redundant writing assignments about the same "sexuality in literature" topic.
Had Paul my freshman year of college. he's mid. I've had better and worse. The thing I don't like about him is that he preaches Critical Race Theory. so much so that I almost went to the dean about it. He's a very political guy and voices his politics in English. Although he is okay if you disagree with his politics it's easier to just ignore him.
he ruined my entire freshman year of college. don't take this class if you want to write about women or you will not receive the grades you deserve, i got a 70 on the final paper and brought my grade down from an A (mind you I was one of only 3 people who had an A in the class which is ridiculous on its own) to a B because I wrote about women
Paul Wakeman is one of the most difficult professors I have ever had at KSU, and I took this class online. He is quick to give out bad grades with little to no feedback. One would think that taking a general education class online would be easy, but this professor makes it so difficult due to the amount of work and the ridiculously harsh grades.
I only got a B, because I got 100s on all the quizzes. He's a harsh grader and leaves no feedback at all. He doesn't respond to emails in a timely manner, and sometimes he doesn't respond to emails at all. He tends to go back on his word a lot, and often times he'll post an assignment last minute without making an announcement. Lots of writing!
He is a very tough grader. He shows no mercy when it comes to any of the summative assignments so make sure you double check your essay with someone that really likes english composition. Also doesn't really check/respond to your emails.
Strongly discourage taking Professor Wakeman's class. Complex material, late grades, and exclusive D2L communication make it needlessly stressful. Even well-written essays receive unfairly low grades. Save yourself and choose another professor for a better learning experience.
His feedback consists of whole group criticism since most of the class is failing. His feedback consists of repetition of directions, which I tried to follow every time His expectations are therefore not clear He offers no instruction (lessons to build knowledge of what he wants students to learn and be able to do- no lectures or Ppts ANYTHING!).
Awful, unsupportive, unclear, does NOT teach. Expect NO instructional support like lectures, videos, ppts or anything... He just asks for your to write literary critiques based on videos and reading without providing instruction for what he wants. Obviously, nothing students are doing is good enough for his expectations. He STILL does not teach.
this professor does not care if you have any accommodations he is horrible to his students I don't even think he likes being a teacher do not take this class
This class was an absolute nightmare. The grading criteria could not be more vague, and the material could not be more disturbing. Prof. Wakeman grades unnecessarily harshly and often with no explanation. You would think that with the majority receiving a failing or close to failing grade on the final exam, he would grade it on a curve. Nope.
Class is passable, but if you really wanted to learn something I would not recommend. Whole course was reading about monster stories and you must write a detailed and high-quality opinion about each reading even if you don't have one. Enforces AI, this is not in the syllabus. Barely taught, little feedback, expects too much from a gen ed class.
Even though I was extremely familiar with the coursework, Wakeman's confusing deadlines and unclear grading criteria made the class difficult. His grading on essays can be highly subjective. Discussion deadlines are often not clearly stated and not listed in the D2L calendar. I recieved a '0' on several discussions as a result of unclear due dates.
I just want to say I hope you read this. This professors is by far the absolute worst guy ever. He is a terrible teacher, and person. If you want to learn from this class I beg you to run away as far as possible. Also he is just weird and obsessed with horror. I went in thinking I'll give him a chance but every opportunity he has ruined.
Stay away from him
I vouched to come back every semester to write Professor Wakeman a review. Think of the worst professor you can imagine in your head. This guy is worst.
Wakeman is not a good professor I do NOT recommend taking his class anyone but his. He does not thoroughly read your essays, he will glance at maybe 2/3 of the paper, and he is a very late grader. Overall he is a chill guy but not a good teacher and you should not take his class.
This class is genuinely such an easy A. Almost all work (outside of essays) is a guaranteed 100% as long as you complete it. Essays are graded a bit harshly though. He also rambles a lot during class but overall id recommend.
Never take this class ever in your life. This class is a nightmare. I wish I could say more but it would be taken down. Seriously anyone who sees this run from this professor. Do NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Tough grader, but the class covers interesting monster stories. Expect lots of writing, minimal feedback, and unreliable email responses. unstuckstudy helped me stay organized and on top of the workload.
Rambles nonstop about monsters but does little to help with English composition. Classes feel more like a chore than a learning experience. Expect lengthy, unfocused lectures, my personal favorite being an hour long "discussion" on how King Kong was, "more than just a movie about a gorilla". As if that wasn't already obvious. A very tedious class.
Should teach a movie appreciation class instead of English Comp, only talks about horror movies, hardly helps with actual composition in class.
Instead of teaching a movie appreciation class, Paul Wakeman subjects his students to endless ramblings about horror films rather than focusing on English composition. He frequently posts assignments with minimal to no guidelines, leaving the grading process unclear. I assure you that all the negative reviews are correct, be prepared.
This professor is the WORST professor you could ever have. He grades WAY too harshly. He failed the ENTIRE CLASS when we wrote the first essay. He assigns 4-5 assignments a week and doesn't post the deadlines he just expects you to constantly check D2L. For your own sake pick a different professor.
It doesn't matter if you go to the writing center, ask around for help on your essay and proofread it five times over and over. No matter what, he will fail you. Do not take this class if you value your time and your grades. He is extremely unreliable as a professor. Listen to every other review. Paul js the kind of professor people warn you about.
Worst professor at KSU. He will HEAVILY penalize you if you have a different POV on a discussion post than him. Material that is covered in class is up to you to find he gives 0 direction how to complete assignment. Doesn't respond to emails, STAY AWAY
This professor has contradicted himself in his rubrics and his speech on multiple occasions. Unless you want a semester long headache, DO NOT take this professors class.
Yea, he uses horror stories, but not because he's obsessed, but because they are better than analyzing an article. Must buy a textbook. Show up to class. You do read a lot and take quizzes on the reading, and do discussions. Essays (3) are graded heavily so are the other writing assignments, so talk and show him your work first before submitting.
If you value your sanity, please do not take this class. It is not worth the struggle when there are way better professors at KSU. Wakeman is polite, but he is a teacher of a bygone era. He doesn't use the provided online facilities well at all and posts things multiple different ways/formats which is confusing to say the least.
This professor is a nice guy, but he is very harsh with his grading, and the work is so mundane. His feedback is not the best and literally every other literature professor at KSU is better. Avoid his class.
This professor does not understand how to use the following: Owl express D2L Brightspace Microsoft Office Or anything required by the college to actually lecture a class. If you expect to complete an assignment a receive a decent grade; DO NOT take this course!!
He grades very roughly; you can't get in touch with him at all. I have emailed him several times, but have received no response. The way he adds his assignments can be confusing, which is why I missed a couple. His rubrics are confusing...
this guy stinks worst professor ever grades rough and makes bs last couple weeks of class.
