He is one of the best teachers I have had here.
He's a great guy... tests are hard, but class is fun and interesting.
funniest teacher i've had; hard class but he's more than willing to help
Stresses helping each other and shows some favoritism

Excellent teacher, keeps everyone involved, hard class, but he helps
Dr. Warne is very helpful and great teacher class is very hard
Great teacher, he makes the class fun. you can do well if you put in the effort!
He can take anything and turn it into a joke...literally. Listen to his stories!
stats sux, but he makes it easier and tells funny stories
hard tests; but GREAT guy, and best teacher i have ever had. makes class fun
Great guy! He makes the class so much fun and tells the best stories!
Stats was SOOO easy. Never had to do any hw. hilarious guy
Stresses basics which stay with you all semester. Makes calculus bearable.
LOL.. I guess for my dad he can be pretty kewl! Don't listen to his stories...they are about me! Stephie!

Very good professor, very entertaining, really learn a lot... makes you enjoy going to class, but VERY difficult tests, although he is always willing to help spend time with you on concepts you are struggling with
you learn calculus from a stand up comedian, he's hilarious, i totally recommend him, the class is hard no matter what, but he makes you want to learn, he really understands his students
Steph, one day we should go sit in on his class incognito. Nobody would know...it could be fun! But he is funny. Well, your whole family is 'funny', but your dad and Debbie are actually humorous. Hehe. ~L.
Funny funny man. Good teacher but class is a tough one. Makes it less painful with a good teacher! Take him!
Hilarious and makes class interesting. If you have to take calc, take his class!
Awesome guy!!!!!!!! I got a 5 on my AP test last year but its still a tuff class. I have an A- in it but i do no work, he tries to scare u on the first day and the first test is brutal but after that it isnt bad, hes definatley the best teacher i had
This guy is great. He's the funniest teacher I have had. I'm not doing to hot in his class, but that's b/c this is the first calc I have ever taken. In class some stuff goes over my head, but i go to his office and he really does teach well
dr. warne is soooo funny! it helps make class interesting...you won't fall asleep. still, the class is hard...even with AP in highschool. stresses proofs, but forms a good base for calculus
Great teacher, very entertaining - you definately won't fall asleep. But just as a warning this class is VERY HARD, so don't sign up unless you want to be challenged.
The funniest and weirdest teacher I have ever had. He's paranoid of kids 'falling asleep' in the class- so he makes you laugh! This class makes calculus fun! The tests aren't the easiest, but you'll survive! I'm even making sure I have him again for 236!!!!
One crazy guy, but probably one of the best math teachers I've ever had. He makes class interesting, and if you visit him during office hours, he's actually a calm normal guy... just one crazy dude.
After taking 236 with Klippert, I repeated with Paul. Paul must be The Patron Saint of Calculus, for He exorcised me of that great demon. Tis as if a great weight was lifted off my shoulders, or as if I were blind and now see. A touch of the fringe of His cloak and thee shall know thy Way. Amen.
very hard, especially tests. Notes are unclear. I went to class everyday and still did bad. Abstract way of teaching
this guy is amazing. hilarious, stops class to tell stories and make jokes. as a teacher he's great, explains everything very clearly. the tests are a little hard...but if you do ur hw you can do well. great prof tho
this guy is amazing. he actually cares about what you learn and does anything in his power to make you get it. he's very helpful and if you have a problem, you can ask him. the tests are hard, but if you do your homework it's not so bad. he's amazing!!
Dr. Warne is a passionate teacher. He cares about his students and will work with you until you understand the material. He was meant to teach people with short attention spans and he does it so well. It is impossible to fall asleep in his class even though it is a Calc course. I would take his class over every year if I could.
Great guy. Do your HW, you'll get the tests and quizzes. He's pretty silly in class, sometimes a little overboard, but still fun to listen to. ("The f of ice cream cone equals...")
Such an awesome professor. When he talks he kinda sounds annoying but so funny! You should take him because he really cares about his students and them doing well. The class is tough, but ask him to go over it and he will. So helpful and so friendly! Gave him a pepper cause he complained that he never got one from anyone. Haha.
Dr. Warne is very passionate about math and makes a complete ass of himself to try to get students to learn. He genuinely cares about his students. Class was pretty easy, if you can do the HW problems you will get an A on the test.
dr warne is hilarious and actually kept me quite awake in his 9:30 lecture. he makes math incredibly easy to understand and as long as you go and do the homework an A is almost guaranteed. also you don't have to buy that incredibly expensive calculus book from the bookstore and only have to buy a $30 manual-ish thing...take him! :-)
Seriously one of the nicest guys ever. His biggest worry is students falling asleep during his class, so he makes sure you don't!He'll stand up on desks, throw things, tell hilarious stories from his childhood all to keep you entertained while also learning. He gives good examples and works through everything to make sure you understand it.Take him
Warne is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. He's hilarious, so he keeps class entertaining. He explains calculus with perfect clarity, going over concepts multiple times until he feels the class is prepared. His tests are straightforward, so as long as you're going to class and paying attention, he's not too hard. He made me like calc!
Keeps your attention. Your Grade reflexs your effort. There is not much home work. So do what he gives you and know it and you will do fine. TAKE HIM...
One of the best professors I have ever had in my education career. Helps you understand confusing stuff, go to class, listen, practice some of the homework and You WILL learn and it WILL reflect with ur grades
Dr. Warne is da BEST professor @ JMU for calculus. TAKE HIM!!! TRUST ME! I'm not saying calculus is easy cause its NOT! I am actually falling this class, hopefully da final will help. But I had LIU last semester and I knew by da 2nd day of class I had to get another professor. Dr. Warne is willing to HELP... take advantage of a funny & caring guy!

DR WARNE IS AMAZING!!!!! he is one of the greatest professors i have ever had.. this is comin from a kid gettin a C in this class right now, i hope the next test brings it up.. for once i actually care about calc if thats possible.. he tells u how it can be used and hes the funniest guy ever.. he got me to laugh at 8 am... that means hes good......
He is a very helpful teacher. He has a great sense of humor. He makes math the best subject to learn. His tests are ok as long as you come to class everyday. Pay close attention to his lecture. Homework is optional. Do it for your own good. His quizzes are based on the hw problem that he asssigns. Do them and you'll do great on quizzes. I strongly
Dr. Warne is the best teacher i have ever had. I don't even like math that much, but I intend to take every class he teaches. He is hilarious and even though it is so hard, it is really interesting. I absolutely love this class.
Dr. Warne is amazing. I don't like math but he made is fun and interesting to learn and became my favorite class of the semester. He is not easy but is very helpful. Go to his office hours if you're confused, do the homework, go to class and pay attention. I loved him.
He is a great TEACHER because he actually teaches you each concept to the fullest, all the way back to its roots, so that you can really get it. This makes the class difficult, but if you really want to understand calculus and you put in the effort then its worth it.
Dr. Warne is the best teacher i have ever had. i have taken him for 3 semesters and he is he reason i'm a math major. makes class fun. quizzes are easy. study for the tests cause they can be hard. take his class
Dr. Warne is the greatest teacher i have ever had for any subject. You need to take this class. Its not because this class is easy becaus it is not I study my butt off and still do around B to B+ but thoroughly explains the material, makes it interesting and he is hilarious. Also he is best discribed as an amazing prof. with ADD on Crack.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. He is never satisfied until everyone understands the work. He doesnt just write things on the board, but makes you "create math." Fun and outgoing guy. Take him.
Excellent teacher. Take his class because you will learn a ton and he keeps you interested all of the time. I had to study a ton to get an A but it was well worth it.
He's probably one of the best professors on campus. If you have to take calculus, GET HIM or his wife, who's just as crazy. It's still a hard class, but if you just do the work and take good notes, you can pull a good grade out in the end.
Awesome teacher! He makes it so interesting and easy to understand. Definitely study, do homework, even though it's not required, quizzes come straight from h/w questions. Go to class, even though not mandatory. TAKE HIM! I'm taking him next semester too and am psyched!!
The Best JMU has to offer!
Best teacher at JMU! Don't get me wrong, you're will have to work hard because it IS calculus. But Dr. Warne makes it as easy and as fun as he can! JMU hearts Dr. Warne!
Best math teacher I've ever had. Really wants yo to understand will explain any question you have.Hilarious!!! Take him take him take him! Really nice too.
Warne is a champ. Just go to class and do homework although it's not mandatory and you'll do fine. He's more than willing to help out. And he's happy to make himself look like an ass by doing odd/funny thngs to help kids learn during class. Not to mention he can relate the most random(entertaning) stories to math. Take him before you leave JMU.
best professor i've ever had. he is so passionate about the math and really wants students to understand it. he explains things so well and made me want to learn. his class is interesting and entertaining. a few quizzes, 3 exams and a final. i made a B in the class, but could've done better if i'd studied a little more.
Great Guy
awesome professor! really loves the subject & makes it fun! He really taught me what it would be like to be a teacher. Very helpful, I definitely recommend taking his class!
If you're a math person, this class is really easy. I rarely went to class besides on test days and I got an A, easily. He's funny, but for me he went way to slow--he spent weeks on stuff I either already knew or learned in 20 mins.
Great teacher!!! So helpful and really gets you into the subject and shows you how to be a good teacher in the future. Very entertaining kind of ADD though. Quizzes straight from the homework problems, assigned reading everyday, as long as you understand his lectures in class you're good. 3 Tests are fair not difficult. HIGHLY recommend taking him!
funny! tests are challenging but not terrible if you study. quizzes are straight from homework questions that were assigned so if you keep up with the homework the quizzes are an easy A. has curved the past 2 tests by at least a few points. very helpful and always will re-explain things if you ask. a little odd but loved him. wish he taught 108 too
Professor Warne is awesome! I am retaking this class and he does an awesome job explaining the material! I wish he was teaching Math 108 next semester! He does his best to make sure your'e paying attention. His tests are a bit tricky but if you study, you should be fine. Take him if you can!
Dr. Warne is great! He explains things very thoroughly. He expects students to read the textbook but the quizzes are straight from the HW problems, so why not? Do the HW and study for the tests. He is so funny--you will definitely be entertained. Take him!
Dr. Warne is an amazing professor! Always willing to help you if you do not understand something. If you do the homework (all of it!), study and go to class, quizzes and tests are fairly easy. A great class!
Very good professor, willing to do whatever to help you understand. Makes a fool of himself to keep you interested. He knows we're not all math geniuses so he breaks it down and goes over things slowly. Quizzes help your grade. Do the homework to practice. Both will help you on exams. I had not had math in 4 years and got an A during the summer!
On the first day of class you'll think by the way Dr. Warne dresses that he just popped out of a Tony Hawk video game, but that just makes his class that much better. He's my favorite teacher at JMU, the most enjoyable class I've taken. He'll wear desks, stand on tables, yell at people outside, whatever it takes to make you understand the material. Go to every class. Do the bookwork if you don't understand what happened in class. Quizzes help your grade. Tests are straightforward. He's awesome.
Dr. Warne is one of the funniest teachers at JMU. Yes his class is hard but its Calculus its supposed to be hard! However, Dr. Warne will do anything and everything to get & keep your attention! If you don't like math he's your man & if you do like math he will just make it better! Take him if you can!!
He is incredibly funny
Dr. Warne is a brilliant professor. He knows how to keep your attention and makes class fun. He'll randomly stop his lecture to tell you funny stories. He really knows his stuff and his tests are challenging, so study for them. He cares about his students and learns everyone's name. I highly recommend taking him.
Math 235 is very hard, but Warne is the best professor for it. Super entertaining, and very, very smart. He also curves the impossible tests, so a 40 becomes a C. Take him if you have to take 235, though if you can take 205 instead, do that because 205 is exponentially easier.
Calc 2 isnt easy but Dr. Warne is hands down the best teacher ive ever had. go to class because its actually somewhat fun (even though its calc). best way for me to describe him- he makes everything make sense. you'll judge him on the first day by the way he dresses, but trust me theres no hating this guy.
I love DR. Warne! He made me appreciate calculus! The subject is so boring but his class is so fun! He does the craziest things to help the time pass. If you get the chance, take him! You won't regret it! He is the best
TAKE HIS CLASS! Let's be honest, Calculus isn't a walk in the park. That being said, he helped me better understand and appreciate math. Dr. Warne is incredibly intelligent and is always very receptive to his students. He's also pretty entertaining. For example, one day he started talking like mickey mouse during a lecture to get our attention.
Paul is a quality instructor. His brilliance and explanations make you appreciate the subject, and him as a teacher. Funny and great guy...he knows how to keep your attention. With that said, Calc is never easy. As long as you come to class, keep up with homework, and study your derivations, you will be well off. The GOAT at JMU.
Literally the best math teacher I've ever had. Not only extremely effective and clear with instruction, but he actually cares about his students. Quirky is his game, and he is a pro. Take his class, and you will learn.
Dr. Warne is awesome. Calculus is an extremely hard course, and there will be both theory and practical application on the tests, but he is a great professor. He keeps you awake in hilarious and quirky ways so class is never a boring even if it is hard. If you can take him, definitely do. Even if you are not really into math.
Hands down the best professor I've had and I am a senior. He's great at explaining tough concepts. Tests are hard but he fully equips you to excel. He made me fall in love with math.
Dr. Warne is an excellent Calc professor. His tests are very hard but if you do your homework and go to his office hours, you'll be fine. He's a very good teacher and he's always willing to help. He says his students are like his family. He also has a great sense of humor so every class is fun. He tells hilarious stories about his childhood!
Dr. Warne is the best professor I have ever had. He is more than invested in his students and genuinely cares about our understanding. He is not shy about telling you his tests are hard! Just study, and use the helps he gladly offers.
TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN! He is really good at explaining difficult material and really cares about his students! The class consisted of 3 large Programming Assignments,a midterm, a final, and other small programming labs. He actually makes you learn the material unlike other professors. But don't get me wrong, the class was difficult!
Professor Warne is an energetic guy! His lectures are nearly impossible to fall asleep during. His tests are HARD. You have to study for this class a lot. He gives partial credit and curves the tests which is what I survived on.
He makes calc interesting+fun! I will take him again if I have the chance. The class goes in a three week rotation. Week 1, work on new topic, 2nd, take quiz, 3rd, take test then repeat the process. I gave him a 2 for easiness because he makes you work for your grade but it is possible to get an "A". Don't let him scare you away during the 1st wk.
Awesome teacher, the class is really hard but if you keep up with it, you can do it.
Lectures are fun and engaging but test you really have to study a lot for to do well. You learn a lot about calculus though so i would take it
Dr. Warne is my favorite professors I have had so far at JMU. He is hilarious! His class can be challenging, but as long as you write down all of the notes then you will do fine. It consists of 3 tests that are pretty long, but are doable. As well as small 3 question quizes here and there, but they are very easy as long as you do the homework.
I had Dr. Warne last year for 248. I feel obligated to post about him because of how much better he is than my most recent professors. Easily the best professor i've ever had. HILARIOUS guy too. I didn't wanna miss class because he keeps you awake with his energy passion and humor. He cares so much about you and the material. Great person. Take him
Dr. Warne is the best professor that I had my first semester here. He's a really smart and relatable man who keeps the class awake and makes Calculus actually interesting. On top of being a great and relatable guy, he cares a ton about his students learning. If you're ready for a challenge with a lot of learning, his class is for you.
Dr. Warne is the best professor I've had at JMU. I dreaded taking Calculus but he made it so interesting & I actually started loving it. He is a super animated guy with hilarious stories that keep the class alive & upbeat. TAKE HIM if you have the chance! The tests are tough but put effort into studying & you'll get a decent grade.
Dr. Warne is seriously one of the most caring professors I've come across so far. He cares not only for you to understand the material, but everything going on in your life as well, and he's there for you. He somehow keeps MATH INTERESTING. It's amazing and he'll do anything to get you to pay attention and understand it.
This is a tough class so get ready to work hard for it but Dr. Warne's super helpful and genuinely cares for his students. Take him if you can, he's great
Great professor. Passionate about math, cares about his students, does funny things to keep our attention. Makes you appreciate math in general.
Professor Warne ensures that you do not get distracted during class in an enjoyable way. He is excellent at teaching; however, his tests are very difficult. In fact, we were forced on the first class day to write "Professor Warne's tests are hard" very large on the first page of our notebooks. Great guy; however, the tests are too difficult.
This guy is the man. He is absolutely hilarious and one of the most engaging human beings I have ever met. His tests are pretty hard, but if you study enough they aren't too bad. I have a lot of respect for him and would take him again in a heartbeat. He is extremely passionate about what he teaches which makes the class that much better.
Paul Warne is one of those professors that you feel good to be around. He genuinely cares for his students and will do his best to help you succeed. He will make you laugh and exercise during lecture to keep you awake and learning. The man is an absolute saint and was nothing but a pleasure to learn from. Take him if you can, seriously.
Dr. Warne is my favorite professor at JMU so far. He explains every concept so clearly in class that it actually makes sense to you and you understand the concepts fully. If you don't, he is always more than happy to meet with you in office hours to explain anything. Really an amazing teacher that is not only funny, but energetic and passionate.
Hands down best professor I've ever had period. He's hilarious and makes every class a fun one, I looked forward to attending his class every week. The material is really hard and he knows that, and warns you about it every day. However, he still manages to breeze through it making everything crystal clear along the way. TAKE HIS CLASS FOR 236!!
One of my favorite professors. Hes spastic and is constantly running all over the classroom. He does his best to teach the theory behind the formulas, and is very proof heavy with justifications everywhere. These are what make his tests hard, not the problems from the book. Skipping class is a huge mistake.
Best math professor I've ever had. I have never been good with math and I never even took Pre-Calc in HS but Dr. Warne made all my fears go away by paying attention to my development and always being available to help. I honestly am not a good student, but I sincerely enjoyed going to his class.
Dr. Warne is AMAZING. Not only is he an awesome math professor, but he's a great person too! I love his energy and his excitement about math! His class is difficult, but I guarantee that you will learn SO MUCH. His classes fill up fast, but, if you have the chance, take Dr. Warne. You WILL NOT regret it! :)
He is definitely a teacher who cares about his students. He really wants each and every student to learn and grow in math. His tests are super hard but if you go to his office hours and learn the material you should do decently. The best teacher I've had so far at JMU and I'm a junior.
Tests are hard, but his teaching is absolutely amazing. His lectures keeps the class engaged and I never skipped Dr. Warnes class because he made the class enjoyable. I'd recommend going to his office hours, he really cares about your understanding of the material. Also, do ALL the homework.
Best teacher i've ever had. I wish he was teaching higher level classes so I could take him again. He is by far the best professor I have ever had
Best math teacher I've ever had. 100% take him if you have the chance!!
Dr. Warne is the best teacher I've ever had. The first day he will make you write on your first page of notes that his tests are hard but if you stay on top of the homework and go to his office hours when you need help, you'll do just fine. He does an amazing job at keeping everyone interested and focus during lectures and tells funny stories.
Dr. Warne is fantastic! Very enthusiastic and easy to pay attention to. Course was relatively tough, but as long as you study you will do fine. Usually curves tests. Definitely take him if you have the chance!
If you dont like proving math, then I suggest you not take this class (proving 0<1, basic algebraic proofs, log and limit proofs, and fundamental calculus proofs). He admits that more proof is required in his class compared to the other Calc classes. I took BC Calc in high school and still thought this class was VERY difficult. Hes funny though...
The only class I actually looked forward to going to thanks to Warne. Super funny and hard to zone out during lectures. However, tons of proofs to memorize and I imagine this class was harder than other profs classes. Though, he always curves and gives partial credit. The class is easier if you took calc in high school.
Calculus 3 with Dr. Warne was the best class that I have taken so far at JMU. This class has been able to push me out of my comfort zone with math but not so much where I don't know what I am doing. He is also a really caring and inspirational person so if you have any problems feel free to stop by his office hours and chat!
I gave difficulty 1 because the class is not hard at all if you really concentrate in class and do all your works on time. Dr. Warne is by far the best professor I have came across. He is super knowledgeable and really really helpful. He will make sure that you do well in the class but you have to study and give enough time for this class.
Dr. Warne really breaks down material and gets you to fully think it through. A lot of proof, but that's important. He's an awesome teacher and person and is always accessible outside of class and willing to help you with anything. Take him if you can!
Dr. Warne is the GOAT. He really cares about each and every one of his students and genuinely wants them to succeed. He will try anything in his power to keep your attention in class because he's so passionate about the material and cares about your performance. Take him if you can.
I had Dr. Warne for calc 205 Spring 2019 and he is by far one of the best professors I've ever had. His lectures are amazing and he breaks down the course material in a way that's really easy to understand. I went to office hours at least once a week and he was super nice and helpful. He's very passionate about teaching and deserves a raise.
Dr. Warne is ridiculously intelligent, passionate, kind, and hilarious. He will make you love math, going to class, and succeeding. Take him, you will NOT regret it.
A fantastic professor. He really cares about each and every one of his students and genuinely wants them to succeed. He will try anything in his power (literally anything--so funny) to keep your attention in class because he's so passionate about the material and cares about your performance. Beware: his tests are extremely difficult and he knows.
Tough curriculum but he made going to the class worth it! He actually cares that you understand what he is teaching!! :)
HILARIOUS guy. It would be extremely hard to get bored in his class, as he is very energetic and tells the best stories. When he senses boredom, he makes sure to get rid of it. The class itself is challenging because of the proofs, but it's worth it. I'm actually glad I failed the AP exam just so I got to take this class with Dr. Warne. Take him!!!
Dr. Warne was one of the best professors I've ever had. You need to go to class in order to do well and understand the material but he gives an extremely generous amount of allowed absences. His personality makes learning Calc fun and his class enjoyable. He really understands that students struggle with Calc and will go above and beyond to help!
Dr. Warne is the best professor I have ever had. He is so engaging and really helps you understand the material. He care so much about his students and really wants you to succeed. As far as the class goes, if you take and review your notes, the quests are easy and we only have 8 hw problems per week.
Dr Warne is the best and by far my favorite math teacher of all time. He's hilarious, I literally was excited to go to class bc he made math so fun (literally unheard of but he made it possible) Best decision ever to take him - please take him if you can you won't regret it!!!
Paul is a GOD. He makes calculus seem easy! He knows how to teach and does amazing at it. This man is my favorite professor here at JMU. Take him and you will not regret it. I would marry him If I could
Take this for calc 1 to 3 if you must!! Best Calc professor I have ever had at JMU. Cares about the students and makes calc very easy to understand. Very understanding and makes every student feel included. Even with covid, he tried learning our names. I was quiet in his class but he still learned by name and always told me have a great day.
Dr. Warne really cares. His lectures are funny and engaging. He will make time for you outside of class to offer extra help if need be. He's such a good prof that intro calculus became one of my favorite classes. Definitely one of JMU's best professors. 100/10
I'll warn you now, his tests are hard and you really need to study. You might think "oh, this is a math class, I'm not going to need to study," but no. You will need to study. Still though, he's a super engaging professor and really cares for his students. His lessons are fantastic, he really makes complex stuff super simple. Just don't miss class.
Best professor Ive had so far. He is caring, funny, and knows how to run a smooth, enjoyable class. This class took a lot of studying and work on general, but that is to be expected for the course itself. If you have a scheduling conflict for his course, change it to take him. I couldnt have even imagined a better experience for this class.
In an incredibly difficult course, Professor Warne is everything that you could possibly want from a teacher. An engaging, hilarious, and clearly experienced lecturer he ensured that one way or another we were paying attention. Calc III is difficult, but there's no other teacher I'd rather take it with. Flexible and fun, Professor Warne was great.
Dr. Warne is awesome. He makes class fun, and before we start a new topic, sometimes he'll tell us short funny stories about his life to give us "brain breaks." His class is difficult, but he's always willing to help. He likes to make sure we understand what's going on before he moves on, and in his class no question is a stupid one.
Dr. Warne really made me appreciate mathematics. I had a tough time in Calc 232 and 235. Dr. Warne has the best lectures. He really understands students attention span and makes sure we are always engaged during class. This really helped me with learning the material. Additionally, Dr. Warne is very caring and appreciates all of his students.
I've had Dr. Warne for both Calc 1 and Calc 2, and I gotta say he is by far one of the best professors at JMU. He is a hilarious guy and very passionate about teaching. His classes are not "easy", but they are do-able, especially if you show up to class. Attendance is really important.
After having Warne for a sub in 235, I knew I wanted to take him in 236. By far one of the best teachers I've ever had. Super fun, engaging, gives breaks, and is super smart. Calc2 is extremely hard material but he breaks it down so everyone can understand it. He is extremely nice and flexible and you will succeed if you pay attention in class.
Easily the best teacher I've ever had. Creates an extremely interactive experience in the class room and gets you out of your seat. Never felt the need to look at my phone in class because I was never bored and always interested in participating. If you can get Dr. Warne for a class, DO IT!
Didn't actually have this guy as a teacher, but I would join friends' classes who did have him for fun! Calculus class for fun fr! The guy performs like no other and essentially is Jeff Goldblum on crack. Love this guy. So incredibly disappointed I won't have the chance to have him as a teacher (at least next semester). Take this class if possible!
Dr. Warne is the best teacher I have ever had. His class is going to be challenging for most people. However, he gives you all the tools you need to succeed with office hours, relevant homework, etc. His lectures are so entertaining because he is both hilarious and super passionate about the subject. If you have the chance to take him. TAKE HIM!
I love this man beyond words. I literally do not even care what my grade is in the course, Dr. Warne truly knows how to teach math the way it is supposed to be taught. He is an amazing storyteller, professor and friend. I will always boast about Dr. Warne. Take him for literally any class you can!
Dr. Warne was a lot of fun and taught in a non-traditional style. I recommend him for those who want a deeper understanding in math. The class is focused on why a problem is solved in a certain way and not how. His class is very theory/proof heavy. He's funny and works to make a personal connection with his students. THIS CLASS IS NOT EASY.
Great Guy! Great teacher! However, it is easy to get sidetracked as someone who hasn't taken calc before but I think all my attention issues are "me" problems. Go to his office during hours if you can he is very approachable and a good person to vent to. He really cares.
Genuinely one of the best teachers I have ever had, Dr. Warne actually cares about his student's well-being and is extremely enthusiastic during lectures. Going to his class was never a bore and I actually look forward to his class!
Dr. Warne is incredibly entertaining and does a great job of keeping you engaged in the lectures. Definitely isn't an easy A especially if you are not very familiar with calculus already, but I highly recommend him since he really gets you to understand the concepts. Make sure to attend every lecture if possible.
One of the best choices for MATH205. Weekly homework and quiz, but they are very manageable and pad your grade. Curves tests a little, but make sure you study. Fun teacher, and a learning style that keeps you engaged. Loves his job and makes lectures engaging, great guy overall. Go to class and study, and you will do well.
Can't skip class. Tests are hard and are on things we worked through in class. He's very dynamic and energetic, so he keeps you awake and focused in class. A little too unhinged sometimes. Made us memorize proofs line for line. Quizzes and webassigns are easy. Generous curves and partial credit. Somehow got A after getting C's/B's on every test.
Dr. Warne is an absolutely incredible professor, and if you are taking a course that he teaches, do EVERYTHING in your power to make sure you get into one of his classes. While the class is difficult, Dr. Warne is incredible at keeping you engaged and helping you actually understand the content. This man is amazing and extremely caring!
I was very scared to Calc 1, but Dr. Warne made this class enjoyable. He is very entertaining and fun to learn from. He knows the material and loves teaching it. He relates the content, and helps you understand it. He tells stories about his life which make lectures very entertaining. I recommend. If he is an option TAKE HIM!!
Take Dr. Warne takes the time in class to explain everything. He test harshly but grades lightly.
Dr. Warne really cares about his students. For the first time, I actually felt like the instructor really cared about his student's ability to do math and to keep up with the material. Personally, the class wasn't too difficult but it is easy to fall behind. If you already know programming, then the group projects wouldn't be too bad.
Professor Warne makes class engaging and interactive. While challenging, he helps students really understand the concepts. Using resources like Unstuck study alongside the textbook can make studying more effective.
Dr. Warne truly cares about his students and he wants to see them succeed. Quizzes come straight from homework questions and tests are very hard but there is a decent curve. GO TO CLASS. You will not pass unless you go to class. His lectures are very entertaining and tries to make calc 3 engaging. If you have the option, take him!!!
i had some things come up and was unable to take the exams on certain days and he helped me work around it both times, you are graded on few things but he does curve a little. never had a professor care about my wellbeing as a student as much as he did, if you can, take him it was def worth it. only thing is he does not use canvas for grades
Literally the best professor I've ever had. Genuinely cares and wants us to suceed. You are graded by attendance, quizes straight from the homework, tests and a final, which he curves. You aren't allowed to have any calculators or cheat sheets. He doesn't put grades into canvas so you have to calculate your grade, which can be confusing
Cares about student engagement over anything else. Will make sure you're paying attention, but does that by being entertaining. Accessible during office hours and wants you to succeed.
all he talks about is math.
I have taken plenty of math courses in my time at college and in high school. Dr. Warne made calc 3 seem like it was algebra 1. He is the most passionate professor I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He teaches like a maniac and has anime extra credit questions on his tests. He WILL be the most inclusive professor you will have.
Professor Warne is one of if not the BEST professors I've ever had. He is insanely enthusiastic and very obviously loves his job. His quizzes are taken from the homework he gives directly, making them pretty easy if you actually do the homework. His tests are pretty hard to be fair, but his teaching ability makes up for it.
Great professor, wants to see everyone pass. Gets sidetracked sometimes, but his stories help you remember material better. Must go to class, he has an attendance policy but you also have to be at his lectures to understand them. Makes a GroupMe for everyone to help each other study and post notes, which is helpful. Study for tests and quizzes!
Probably the best professor ive ever had. Lectures are very fun and he makes it hard to not pay attention so the four classes a week dont feel long. You are only graded on a few things and the tests are difficult but he curves the exams so its hard to fail unless you did not try.
This class was so difficult but to be fair I had only taken pre calc before this. I wish he had clear lectures/notes because sometimes it was hard to follow. Be prepared to memorize A LOT. But for the most part, he was super nice, did a kept class engaging, and explained things well. If you're gonna take calc 1, take Dr. Warne.
