His eyes are to die for. He is wonderful.
Has a very monotonous voice and a silly Texas accent, but no sense of humor. Too serious. Very helpfull though, and willing to help with questions.
The best math teacher MCC has. Very fair when it comes to grading and expalins everything very well. Gives a take home quiz per week, all of which equal a test in the end. The quizes really help know whats going to be on tests.

Very helpful and kind. Beautiful eyes and smile. Paul, I love the sound of your laughter. I think you are a great guy! Keep smilling.
I took this class and had to drop it. He was not very helpful and very very boring. He didnt seem like he took interest in teaching this subject. I would not recommend him.
He explains himself very well and is easy to understand. It may be me but it seems as though he models himself after Munem. He teaching style is not Munem but he looks up to him or something. Overall a pretty good teacher but no partial credit. That's why I say take Brantly!
looks up to Muneum but is actually a better professor thatn Muneum. Cares about his students, very helpful, and is always there for office hours. I recommend him. He is fair, and clear on his teachings.
Nice guy, and very smart. Will help you out and knows alot about the subject. Tests and grading are very fair, gives take home quiz each week for an easy 10 points.(sounds kinda like George Bush Jr.)
good teacher hard test but he's clear when teaching, easy to follow
First class prof. Very lineant and easy to go with
Could use a little bit more organization in presenting the material in lectures and on the syllabus. A class calender would help also just in case someone wants to read before the class. Pretty good teacher overall.
Who in the hell keeps writing these things about this guy's eyes? He's a good teacher and maybe if you payed a litttle more attention to his teaching instead of looking at his eyes you'd have done better.
Overall he's a good teacher. Expect to take a lot of notes, 5-10 pages per class. He gives take-home quizzes every weekend, 3-5 problems, that helped me alot by forcing me to do some work outside of class.
really good teacher, very nice. and everything is true about what is written below. i'd recommend him to anyone!
he is great
By far the best math teacher at macomb. By luck i took williams, and i am so happy that i took him. I inconvienced my own schedule in order to have him as my professor. If you need to go higher in math, i HIGHLY recommend him. One of the best teachers i've had.
One of the best professors I've ever had. He's been teaching long enough to know where students have problems but can still take the material down to a student's level. Do your homework (even though it's not collected), go to office hours for help, and do the sample tests and you will do well with this professor!
Hiis by far one of the best proffesor at macomb, better than Munuim . doesnt talk much but he wants the best for students, organized, exams are from notes, no surprises in his exams, very nice and knows the material very well, do the weekly quizes, take notes and study them and you'll be fine. highly recommanded!!
Good person, can't teach though.Thought that by reading ahead I could grasp concepts better, but by coming to class I get more confused. Speed of teaching is more important than understanding the material. All he does is translates what the book says into more confusing "stuff".I don't recommend him, but there's no one else at Macomb to teach it.
Outstanding teacher. Is always available for extra help, and tries to make sure students understand the material.
Knows his stuff and communicates it well. Very well organized.
Best, if you want to learn Calc. thoroughly. Just study the notes and you'll be set for every exam. Awesome teacher to learn from.
Awesome prof. If you take the notes given in class you will not need a textbook. I took him for calc 1, linear algebra, and calc 3. My only mistake was not taking him for calc 2
A good teacher, BUT... is too concerned with moving through the material. Case in point, he got through a section early the other night, and instead of reviewing of answering any questions on that section, he plowed into the next section and confused half of the class.
great teacher hes very clear and hes also at the learning center to help more. i would recomend him to anyone thats going into engineering because hes the only teacher in south that teaches differential equations!.
Prof Williams is fantastic!!! He covers all necessary material in class with perfect timing. Attendance is not mandatory, but you should attend all classes. Homework is not collected, but you should do it anyways and come in for help during office hours if need be. Exams and quizzes based on notes. Very fair. Overall, the best!!!
good professor
His accent makes it all worth it. He's a good professor. A little on the difficult side, but then again, it's calculus. I would take him again.
Took his class of discrete mathematics and found it interesting. Great teacher, always willing to help, and pretty funny. Definitely would recommend for anyone who likes math.
Williams is the man as far as math professors go!! he is clear and to the point in his lectures. His tests are tricky, you definitely gotta study a lot for them. He doesnt give out any extra credit or curve anything so u gotta do good all year but the class is set up to help you in every way by how the test/final/quiz grades are weighed
This is an awesome professor! it teaches well and clearly! i recommend this professor but do not think you are just going to come to class and get an a i took calc 2 with him and it was hard but i learned a lot! he lets you (if you can not make the test)take it another time and final exam replaces lowest grade! if you can take this guy!!!!!!!!!
Should wear a bowtie. He's the Doctor Who of Calculus. Basically, proves every concept he teaches. He's a bit anal about notation. Normally, he'll just point out you're doing it wrong, but sometimes he'll mark off points. Quizzes are from the examples in the notes. Tests are just hard, but that's Calculus. Doesn't teach morning classes, which sucks
Exceptional Professor, had Prof. Williams for all Calc. courses at Macomb. Does lots of examples and is very clear and easy to understand during lectures. Exams are not too bad nor is the Final. I would Definitely recommend Mr. Willams and take advantage of the time he offers to students in the learning center.
Prof. Williams is awesome. He's fun and knows what he's talking about. He will help you with anything. His tests are not hard if you know what you're doing. You will have to study. Sucks, I know, but what can you do. Overall I highly recommend him!
Has a sincere vested interest in the success of each student
Not sure what "Easy" means but he gives you the tools to learn and succeed... so take him and it will be worth it.
the best math teacher i have ever had it his notes are so great to learn and his tests not easy but he teaches you the best ways to do the calculus problems go with him you will be awesome !
I never understood anything Prof. Williams was saying, but I never understand anything in any class. He has a meticulous pattern wrt class examples and doesn't take up a ton of time proving things nobody will understand. My advise would be don't just study the notes but read the book or a few. I liked Prof Williams, nice guy, really introverted.
He was amzing prof., my advice is to take his class during the summer time. I am highly recommending for MATH 1760.
Very, very good teacher! Knows what he is talking about, and can explain it clearly. He will answer your questions to the best of his abilities. I highly recommend Prof. Williams. Tests are not easy, but not impossible. He gives you the mandatory grounding to understand what is being asked. Does not waste time with stuff not on tests.
He is just the best. I had him for calc1&2 linear and dfq. he is so clear helpful loves his job hes so organized hes never late on giving back a quiz or exam. do his quizzes do some homework pay attention and study his notes you will get a good grade in his exam. if you have a question ask him at the beginning of the class or in the learning center
Williams is a great professor. He taught us as clearly and concisely as he could. Answered questions at the start of class or during his office hours. Was helpful nice and funny. Im going to warn you though this class is NOT EASY and its very fast paced. That being said expect to WORK HARD if you want to earn an A. It wont be a walk in the park
350 characters max to write a comment in here are not enough to describe Professor Williams. The way he teaches makes you love mathematics so much, you might start thinking of going for a math degree. His exams are not the easiest, but if you pay attention to him, do your hw and your take home quizes, and ask him questions, then you will get an A.
Great teacher with great notes. He's always there to help you but you have to remind yourself that this isn't high school. Don't expect him to hold your hand. If you need help your going to have to seek it on your own and not expect him to read your mind. I plan on taking him for my remaining required math courses at macomb. that should say enough.
You need to come to class or have someone get you the notes to succeed in this class. He is wonderful - extensive notes, very detailed, and super nice and funny. No extra credit, but as long as you do your best, you'll get a good grade.
I had williams for calc 2 and now diff eq and i think he is the best professor at macomb. i wish i could have had him for all my math classes
Professor Williams is hands down the best teacher I have had at MCC. Since I had him for Calc 1 I only take his math classes from now on. I am in his Calc 3 class currently and like other have said he is tough but fair. You have to work hard but he is the clearest and most straight forward professors I have had at MCC. I will take his Dif Eq.
Prof Williams is an outstanding teacher. He is very thorough with his explanations and understands the material like it's second nature. He has a smart sense of humor and is willing to answer as many questions as the class needs. His tests are extremely fair and there's a study guide he gives for every test. By far the best teacher Macomb can offer
He was the worst Math Prof I had. he grade very very hard. if the question worth 20 points and you miss one little thing he will take 15 points off. he will destroy your grade if you take him.
He grades very tough and he doesn't care about your work even if its one page. he will just see the final answer.
He was very hard for me. Also his exams were impossible to pass plus he grade very hard. five of my friend failed every exam in his class and he just does not care. please avoid him
Mr. Williams has been my absolute favorite teacher at Macomb. He knows his stuff and is willing to working with you to help you understand the material. He assigned practice problems but does not collect them for credit. Every day he starts class by asking if anyone had questions on the previous homework assignment. He is a very nice man.
Amazing teacher hands down one of the best i had. I really enjoyed his class and the way he was teaching. P. Williams now exactly what he is teaching and would solve and math question. You actually enjoy the class without the regular normal routine.
I like his style of how he runs his course; online homework allowed 5 mistakes, take home quizzes for over the weekend, and he gives us about a week to complete assignments before they are due. His penmanship is hard to follow and lectures are boring. Tough grader on exams. Once marked me down 1 point for a missing '(' in the equation "4(x+y))" :
great
Very hard teacher. His grading style is very specific. Since most of your grade is weighted on five tests his classes are fairly difficult. That being said I would suggest taking Mr. Williams if you are pursuing a math heavy degree. He knows his stuff and he's very creative in the application of the course material.
He is a good professor but is a very tough grader. If you don't do a problem the way he wants it, he takes points off. I don't recommend buying the book because he only uses it for homework problems. To save some money, buy the webassign code that way you get an online version and he optionally grades it meaning more points to get a better grade.
Gives good lectures, and good examples. Make sure you do all of the assigned book work (even though its not graded) and the quizzes which are graded, and you'll be fine. If you don't show up to class you'll miss a lot of information, whole sections are usually covered in one day.
Very straight forward about his lectures. What ever his discusses in class is most likely going to be on the exam. Provides good examples.
Easy teacher! Just do the review and you will a decent grade. I got an A in calc 1 and B+ in calc 2 without doing webassign. Go to class and copy the board problems also do the test reviews, and you will get a B for sure.
Enjoyed his teaching style, show up for class, take as best notes as you can, write down assignments, work through weekly quizzes slowly (not for a good grade, so you can learn the material). A week before the exam, do all the bookwork assigned for the sections that will be covered, go over the weekly quizzes Pass. No hw grades, exams + quizzes
Williams is a great professor, his lectures are clear and precise. He gives a lot of homework which is useful for studying. He grades tough on tests, but only to insure that you are using the proper notation.
I'm honestly not sure how his rating is quite as high as it is. Class consists mostly of lectures and "practice problems". Doesn't explain steps, but rather thinks out loud when working on problems leading to mass confusion. Incredibly difficult grader, not much partial credit if any at all. All hw is optional and unlike anything seen on exams.
I have taken prof. Williams for calc 1, 2, and 3 at this point. There is no doubt that he is a tough grader. He will take of points for silly things, but in the end I still think he is fair. Gives take home quizzes and usually the lowest 2 get dropped. Four tests and a final, usually final replaces the lowest test. Practice and you will do fine.
I would not recommend Paul Williams. The negative reviews below are mostly accurate. He's straight forward with tests but that's about it. Extremely dry, not very inspiring, and a bit antisocial.
Worst professor Ive ever had. Talks about a fudge factor that no one knows how to get, thinks aloud without actually showing you where certain things are derived from, Harsh Grader, DOES NOT UPLOAD GRADES ON CANVAS, examples are nothing like the tests. Youre better off studying the material yourself then attending his lectures.
I have had Professor Williams for 5 different math classes. He is absolutely the best professor I have had at the school. I never understood math in High School and yet he made it sink in, The bad reviews are people that don't study and put in effort. He is a tough but fair grader. Take home quizzes and Saturday office hours!!
He is a nice professor. He can be funny at times. He gives out take home quizzes at the end of each week. There are 4 exams and the final exam. There is online homework and due dates for those. Sometimes he gives the review for the exams. However, do not take him if you cannot read cursive. All of his notes are in cursive.
Id recommend skipping a semester of math if this prof is your only option like he was mine. Extremely picky about notation but only for things he deems worthy. OUTDATED curriculum; the last test review he passed out to use to study was dated fall 2002. He isnt familiar with the book HE recommended on syllabus. Im fairly good at math and I struggled
Mr. Williams is a nice guy, but a terrible professor. He only grades on "take home quizzes" which are homework and the four tests plus final. Instead of teaching things in ways you'd remember, he mostly just rambles on while writing example problems on the board. You will not have any idea what's happening if you don't read the book.
Professor Williams is easily one of the best educators at Macomb. His lectures show exactly how to do the problems you will see on the Homework, quizzes, and tests. The take home quizzes are easy As and a great opportunity to make sure you know the material from the homework. He is a tough grader but very fair. Skip homework? Guaranteed to fail.
He's an amazing professor. He explains things pretty clearly, and that's coming from someone who's kind of slow in math. He gives take-home quizzes which are similar to the examples done in class. Homework isn't mandatory, so I never did it and still understood everything. Just study the notes and mainly take-home quizzes and you'll do good.
Worst professor I have ever had. Im average at math and I am a quick learner but how am I supposed to learn from someone who DOES NOT TEACH. He literally just read notes he took before class started and ur not allowed to ask questions on HOMEWORK. He left himself reviews on here because there is simply NO WAY he has a 4/5 rating from students. PURR
I'm usually great at math but this professor made me want to die. For online classes do not take this professor. The way he teaches is by reading the notes. He does not thoroughly go through the problems, Cant explain them properly, and is very confusing. Maybe he might be different in person but if you take an online course, Good luck then.
Very tough grader with little room to mess up! get ready for lots of homework and notes that are difficult to read!
The worst math professor Ive taken. He is so tough on grading and cant mess up on anything. He doesnt explain anything or teach anything. This professor literally will just read from the notes and thats it. He takes off a lot of points from test for simple mistakes. Please dont take this professor because He will ruin your gpa.
Worst math professor Ive ever had. Get ready for khan academy and YouTube videos, because he does not teach. This class with ruin your GPA or be a waste of money. Horrible online professor DOES NOT TEACH AT ALL. And dont even think hes accessible outside of class because he WILL NOT ANSWER YOU. Waste of money and put me back a semester.
This professor is an actual nightmare to take online. His lectures absolutely suck and his notes suck. His handwriting is inconsistent cursive where some letters are printed and others are cursive and he misses dotting his Is and Ts. He grades only on quizzes and tests and my favorite is his " ?" responses on questions. I wish I could rate him 0/5.
Professor Williams was the best Math Teacher I have had yet. He was very easy going, calm, and collected. He knows the material like the back of his hand and I am excited to have him again. The only complaints are he is a little unorganized, and his lectures can be a bit dry. He was always willing to help and answer questions. Would recommend.
Welp, I'm not going to say that he's the best professor because he isn't. Lectures are boring, he's not accessible outside of class, his grades HARD and takes points off of miniscule details yet he skips steps and makes a few mistakes of his own, too. Nice guy, though. I'm just glad to be done with this class and move on to the next. Best wishes
There are 10 quizzes and 4 tests. He only allows 1 quiz drop which is fine. But he grades hard. It doesnt Matter if you get the right answers he marks you down for doing the work a diff. way or just having typos. Tests are usually open for 5 hrs but he changes it on whim for no reason. It is stated nowhere in the syllabus that this would be done
Do not take! This professor knit picks everything on tests. Basically if you don't write out the problem like he would then you will be marked wrong. Horrible handwriting on the white board, its a mix of cursive and print. This made it more difficult to understanding the material. Extremely monotone which makes the class feeling very boring.
He grades the tests tough, but they are VERY much just like the notes he gives. He is decent at explaining things (little better after class than in) but the main thing is that you take notes. Easy way is to take pictures of what he writes, study them, ask questions to make sure you understand the lecture, and you should be fine but it can be hard.
DO Not take this professor. He just writes stuff on the board with no explanation expecting everyone to know what's going on. Very tough grader/ takes points off for the most littlest things. I had to teach myself by YouTube videos because this professor does not care about your learning whatsoever. The class is very test heavy.
It was a simple class with lots of work. However, he doesn't appear to understand what's going on and won't really offer advice regarding how to solve when you need it.
All you need to ace this class are the textbook and other people. You'll be in groups in the class, and those people in your group will be your greatest resource. The teacher was average, but you'll mainly be teaching yourself. The textbook lets you put the reading into practice a LOT, which really helps if you're a hands-on person.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He teaches the board not you! Very monotone and boring. He's a tough grader as well. He'll mark you down for even the smallest mistakes and take a lot of points off. He is not good at explaining things and expects you to know everything. Again DO NOT take this prof!
Dr. Williams is not a bad professor by any means. As long as you take advantage of your group's knowledge and contribute, you will be just fine. Make friends with your tablemates -- they will be your best resource!
Professor Williams runs a tough class, but using unstuck study alongside the textbook can really help with the challenging content and grading. Attend class and stay engaged to succeed.
