Dr. Young is an amazing professor. I have him every Monday and Wednesday at 8am, and he couldn't be more upbeat. It makes me enjoy chemistry.
He is awesome I can't wait to have him for Organic
He makes great lecture notes.
great prof.. too bad he's gone.. great notes, makes orgo a breeze
Dr. Young is a very good teacher and he is very helpful...there is a lot of xtra credit in his class he doesnt like to fail people!!!:)
great professsor, just wish i understood the stuff, hopefully i pass the class.lol
Pretty good teacher-I really like his son though
Dr. Young is an excellent professor. I wish I hadn't blown off his class on occasion. Unfortunately, he needs to select a better T.A. (Tim Hall) but overall he cares about his job and he is very personable!
HE is a BAD teacher...do not take him! he is so unclear and never explains what he teaches clearly! 150 people out of 200 are failing this class!
Take his class! It is not hard at all!If you do all of the extra credit(and there is lots of it), getting a solid "B" is no problem. You might have to work a bit harder for an "A". (DO the Practice Test/Chapter Review before the exams- it helps). I don't see HOW people could fail the course!!!
He Is a Great Professor! He explains everything clearly (most of it). He gives Tons of Extra Credit, with all the extra credit, I ended up getting an A :)
gives tough finals.... practice tests and exams were helpful. he gives a ton of extra credit though, doesnt say much does it?
He rarely teachs any useful material and when he does it's often unclear & lacking explanations. He is also hard to converse with; he has no phone number, limited office hours, and sends meaningless email responses. I'm talking about the new Young too. Paul Roberts Young.
He is one of the worst professors i have ever had. he cancelled all his friday clases and the review for the final exam unlike any of the other professors. A whole bunch of people failed his class because he has no apt to teach you or any one else. this prof. doesnt care about you dont take him!

I dislike this guy very much! His Lectures are very pointless..doesnt explain anything. His exams are tough!! He doesnt know how to explain anything! I recieved an A in Chem 101, but now for Chem 112 its hard b/c of this professor! He is annoying and a horrible professor!
He doesn't teach a thing in lecture and he doesn't help when you have a question. He gives you long tests and not enough time to do them.He will shut the lights off on you soon as the class period ends so make sure you hand in your test in time so you don't break an ankle.Lots of homework too!!!
he is a very easy prof. don't even need to read the book, not once, just need to study from his lectures for exams. i recommend him, he is a great prof. his exams are easy because you have more than enough time for his multiple choice exams usually only 20 questions are on them.
He rarely teaches the material. Most of his lectures focus on stupid things like "you go shopping at the electron store...". He also tells weird stories. The TA's grade too hard on the labs and tests.
WOW..I Can go on and on about this terrible teacher. Be prepared to teach everything to yourself. He doesnt teach anything in Lectures, his exams are from a different world, which are Impossible to finish in 50 min. If you get a C in his class, Well..then thats an accomplishment! Good Luck.
Okay...First of all,i agree with what everybody else says.I am struggling because his lectures are pointless.not only that,i have a horrible TA too! SERIOUSLY...i feel like im stupid now.he doesnt give time for quizzes n gives too many questions too.CRAZYYYY!! thanx for screwin up my GPA!
who ever rates prof. young with a 1 must be mistaking him for the other prof. young. and if they are rating this one they are nuts. prof. young is an awsome teacher with excellent notes.
make sure u notice the "Robert" as his middle name! i messed up because my friends told me to take "Paul Young" when it was actually the other GREAT professor! If u go to this guys lectures,he scribbles n doodles crap that when u go home n study,u wont get ANYTHING! have fun reading the whole book!
Worst Professor ever. His lectures are totally pointless, you don't learn anything unless you teach yourself from the book, he'll give you about 20 min to finish quizzes(which is physically impossible), he's never willing to answer questions, and his exams are ridiculously long and difficult.
I think maybe he's a nice guy...BUT..HE SUCKS AT TEACHING! Save yourself the agony and just DO NOT take him for chem...No matter how hard you work, you just won't do well...It suck and it makes everyone mad..Hopefully soon he will be fired or something...I heard a rumor he was put on probation...
As one of the older students in the class (almost 25), I find that wisdom helps me -- it helps me to know that this guy sucks! He may be the worst teacher that I have come in contact with. He has nothing valuable to offer. Take this course at a community college.
lecture is pointless, even if you actually do take notes 20 minutes later you look @ them youll have no clue to what they mean or what you wrote down. he's unclear with notes and doesnt teach anything irrelevent to exams or chemistry. dont recommend him. too much work is involved for this course.
Yes his lectures are pointless, but he is helpful if you would go to his office hrs, hes really nice. His test are not that impossible, if you read and know your material, there is enough time for the test/quiz. You should get a C or higher if you study hard enough.
i totally do not recommend him he is horrible speaker and is never prepared for class
i agree w/every1 except tha ONE person who says if you study you will do good.Terrible teacher!!and if you already dont like or not good at chem you will get a D!i went to class, tutoring, studied everyday and i dont even kno if i passed or got a D DONT TAKE HIM!!!!He should quit!!!

Do NOT i repeat ! do NOT sign up for this prof! his lecture is useless! his notes are useless...the exam is very hard... the final exam was Mcat ! which is not for us to do! if u want a D in this class Go ahead choose this class! his topic are jumping around too much! his lecture sometimes are not about chem! he suck!
BEWARE OF CHEM 112, especially with this professor! He cannot teach, and his explantations are unclear unless you go to him one-on-one. TA's grade harshly. So unless you are REALLY good in chem to begin with, think twice before taking this class.

The other Dr. Young is actually pretty good. This one - not so much. Lectures aren't that helpfull, and the TA's are tough (VERY picky about lab write-ups). You would think that if you spend a lot of time on the class work and material, your grade would reflect that. However, that is just not the case with this course. Take it with Fetzer-Gislason.

Sure, his lectures aren't that good, but the curve gave me an A when I should have rightfully gotten a C in that class.

He sucks. I didn't understand him at all...
Can go off on tangents during lectures, but he's a helpful guy one on one...
Very unclear and not helpful
This teacher CANNOT teach! Granted he knows his chemistry...but he sure as hell doesnt know how to make students learn the material. Don't take him, he'll make u dread Chemistry forever. His tests are the hardest things ever, our average score for the whole class was a 51 on all three of his exams.
he suck. he can't teach. gives bad notes on the over head projector. WILL make you hate chemistry after you take his class. don't i repeat DON'T take him for chem.
I dont understand why everyone thinks he sucks? I took Paul Robert Young and got an A. I thought his tests were okay, they werent extremely bad. The final was the MCAT and that was fairly difficult but if you go over the weekly worksheets he gives you and the quizzes, then you will do ok. The quizzes are easy but hard to finish in 20 minutes.
yup there are TWO prof Robert Youngs... I took chem101 with one fall semester and he was awesome. I took chem112 with the other and he was the worst teacher of all time. My ratings are obviously for him. He actually ignores you if he feels like it when you want to ask him a question after class... so aside not being able to teach, he's an ass
There are two professor with the same name, look at there e-mail adress. The one with the e-mail: [email protected] is the easy one. and the one with the e-mail: [email protected] is the hard one. The hard one tries to teach but he gets off topic a lot. The easy one teacher well and he make funny jokes sometimes, but the class never seemed to laugh!!
good teacher
Paul Young is an ok professor. He does not really teach during lecture. The course has a lot of emphasis on mathematical equations; you dont have to memorize them but you need to understand whats going on! Does not give a lot of OWL problems, maybe one or two required the rest are optional! Curves his class big time! Quizes are not that bad. STUDY
Dr. Paul R. Young is an ok professor. He doesnt really teach during lecture. He curves big time!! His quizes are not really bad and he barely assigns any OWL problems, maybe only one or two required. The course has a heavy emphasis on equations; you dont have to memorize them but you have to understand how to use them! STUDY
There are two Paul Youngs at UIC. The one that teaches 101 is an awesome teacher he also teaches 112 sometimes. The way to know which Paul Young you have is that the easy teacher only teaches morning classes. So if you signed up for an afternoon class with Paul Young then you have the alleged hard teacher.
He is great. Curves a lot!
The confusion continues. There are 2 Paul Robert Young's teaching chem here. This one's email is [email protected], he's semi retired. AWESOME prof, great lecture notes posted online, quizzes online you can repeat as many times as you want, multiple choice exams, ton of bonus points. Get over 90%, automatic A and you don't need to take the final exam.

Great professor, even I know the other one is great but this is also great professor. He just want you to work very and then succeed! and you will remember him later on ....
This teacher is really nice and really easy. I don't know why half the class kept on failing the exams because they were super easy and were nearly the exact same problems on the review. Don't try too hard on the labs because the TAs will just fail you either way. Look over the reviews for the test and you should get do well. 90% avg=A= no final
There are two Paul Youngs at UIC. The one that teaches CHEM 101 is a VERY good teacher, but the 112 one CANNOT TEACH AT ALL. His class is VERY HARD, nearly all of his TA cant speak english (they cant teach either), he'll explain the material in the most bizarre and complex way possible, and his exam averages are always like 30-50% NO JOKE.
Great guy. He seems like he really cares about his students. He also tries to liven up his lectures with a bit of cheesy humor. If you don't go to class, it's possible to fall behind, but the class isn't too terribly difficult so it's easy to catch up. Just do the labs and study for the exams and you can expect to do well in the class.
Chem 112 with prof. Young ws very easy, you still have to study for the exams and stuff but he gives review questions and quizzes and the exams reflect the quiz/review questions. He gave online quizzes and the exams were multiple choice. If you do the assignments and stuff it's not hard to pass this class.
I don't know why everyone loves Paul Young. He is the hardest SOB ever and the average on the final was below a 50%. I know there are two Paul Youngs and I am talking about the supposed easy one. I recommended getting another professor because this guys tests are nothing like his lecture.
In chem 101 Paul changed some of his tests style and he made it a bit harder. i do not now what will happen next semester he said that he is going to change tests again. so BECAREFUl. Quizes in his class easy hundred in your pocket. T.A NETHAN he is realy realy lazy and he does not know how to teach in disc at all. Rec: go to tutoring. Good luck
hated his class, and doesn't respond to emails! not helpful at all and cancels class last minute!
professor is alright and willing to help. although you might need to study more on your own. the class isn't too bad
his practice exams are nothing like the actual tests. i didn't really learn too much from lecture, i basically learned everything from the book.
Honestly. I know you hear "worse professor ever had" a lot. But, I swear he wins that title hands down. His lectures are absolute crap. Maybe 50 people go out of the 300 students. THAT bad. And ALL of his TA's don't speak english. I had one that didn't know how to translate the word "soluble."
I don't know if this is the hard or easy one, but im talking about the easy one. Does anyone know if "the easy one" will teach chem 114 in fall 07, i signed up for him thinking he's teaching it but now the instructor is listed as TBA. I'll be really ticked if they changed the professors to :( morton :(
Paul R. Young is a goot prof, his exams were pretty good. he is willing to help u. He is also give extra credit randomly about every week wich really help.
He's a great professor and easy to understand. He goes over several examples in class. I didn't even read the book and I'm doing real well. His tests are fair and if you show up to lecture and read his slides over, you'll do well!
Overall a fairly easy professor, gives a lot less OWL work then other professors from what I've heard and tons of random extra credit. Doesn't seem to really care about the class and just lectures through slides. Good preparation for his tests which are all multiple choice, but I'm not sure if he is good to take depending on your future chem course
his lectures are easy to understand.give very little owl homework.his test are something else...theyre multiple choice and too long!avg was about 50(the lowest he'd seen)but its because he makes the long!and theyre tricky!but he gives tons of extra credit so i guess it balances out
Professor Young is very helpful, nice, and puts everything on blackboard. You can get an A if you do the labs, go to lecture, and study before exams. There is a fair amount of extra credit, and a good curve at the end, so don't be so concerned about your initial scores.

I found this class pretty challenging, but I missed a number of the lectures. I would say that if you go to lecture and read the book, you'll do pretty well. Prof Young offered a lot of extra credit, and also gets rid of the lowest test and quiz grade. If you get an average of over 90%, you don't have to take the test.
I really liked Young. Sure his lectures were kinda boring at times, but he did he did a very good job explaining the topics. The only downside was that the tests were nothing like the practice exams. Go to lecture, do the extra credit, and study and anyone can pass Young's class.
horrible teacher!!! he has no enthusiasm for his classes and try sending him an email and see if he ever replies back. If it wasnt for my TA john penczak i would have never passed the class seriously. form groups with this professor otherwise you will fail and be on your own. You and your friends can all take the quizzes together and try to figure
God be with you with while taking this class! The professor goes through the material like it's a piece of cake while your sitting in your seat thinking what the hell is he talking about?! Best thing to do is take the quizzes online with people from your class so you guys can at least figure out the right answers on the 2nd try of the quiz.
Do not recommend at all. He teaches Chemistry like he assumes everyone in the class has had Chemistry before. My TA also sucked. The worksheets/ lecture slides did not match with quizzes and exams. The class is very boring. You can easily fall asleep to his monotonous voice. Try getting Marek for Chemistry 101. He's the total opposite.
He's a really nice guy... just not such a great teacher. He gives alot of extra credit. If you are going to take his class make sure you get 100% on the extra credit cause you'll need every point in the end.
His Chemistry 101 class was relatively hard. I didn't benefit from the lectures, so instead I just read the whole book. He is also the kind of professor that gives a nice amount of extra credit. I worked very hard and at the end, I was two final exam questions shy of an A. His exams are also insane (some questions unrelated to lectures). Fun class.
This guy is a good teacher for introductory chemistry....All you have to do in his class to get an A is read and memorize his powerpoints.....his exams are multiple choice so it shouldn't be that hard....I was kind of lazy and still got a B in the class
Young is awesome. I mean sure he is not very helpful and sure the TAs barely speak English, but just study and understand the concepts and you'll do good. Its pretty easy to get a B with all his extra credit. An A will need some more work. I got an A.
he's aight
Hes a nice guy. Doesnt usually answer questions during lecture. There is extra credit, and he is always wearing an interesting sweater.
WOW! He is the worst excuse for a professor and human being. he never responds to emails and lies about what will be on the test. He is VERY wishy-washey about how grades are calculated. He does not have office hours, and I went up to him once and he told me that he did not have time to talk. And although I got an A and he still sucks!
i get that he is smart and he wants to teach an organic class and he thinks chem 112 is way too easy for him but the point of being a teacher is to teach the students even if they are not as smart as he is. no curving for class which sucks and no office hours.
I think he's a good teacher. He usually gives a clear understanding of what will be on exams and the final consists of previous exam questions as well as problems from lecture slides. Everyone says stuff about TA's you can't understand, but I could understand everything and he was very helpful. I also suggest reading the book...I got an 85
his lectures are somewhat helpful, but i learned more from the book and ALEKS. He doesn't require you to write lab reports which is good. His exams are okay, I got Cs and Ds on all three and B on the Final. and I still got a B in class. the class is okay, overall.
He's better than most of the other chem teachers, take him
Probably the easiest chem professors. His lectures are clear and very organized. I barely opened my book but ALEKS was a lot of working. His exams are pretty much multiple choice and he gives out a lot of extra credit. He also gives you a chance to get exempt from the final if you have an A.
tests are multiple choice and he gives a lot of extra credit. i did really bad on the tests but did all the extra credits and as a result i was exempt from the final...easiest teacher ever?
good teacher!
professor young gave me an a but i worked for it! he never responds to emails, aleks is a pain, but hes very straightforward go over his reviews and just understand the material, NO LAB WORK you shouldnt get anything lower than a B...if you try that is
Its a good class, just study, and he gives a lot of EC, so just keep up with the easy points and you should be fine.
young's class is easy and he gives extra credit but his exam reviews are nothing like the actual exams, there is very little lab work but there are lab quizzes every week. he never, or takes an extremely long time, to answer emails and he puts all lectures up on blackboard so attendance isn't mandatory
well he is not the greatest professor but he does give a ton of extra credit an his lectures are not that bad either. if u do the practice exams u will do great on the real ones
Hes pretty funny and gives out the the lecture slides which are nice to study from but to get a good grade you need to go to the discussions and bring questions to ask becuause there will be problems you have never seen in lecture that end up on the test
Wonderful professor, I wish he taught all levels of Chemistry. Make sure you print out the slides for lecture and take down notes, the class normally goes by quickly and he often makes jokes. He's a very kind man and hints in lecture what will be on the test. Also, for exam 2 & 3 you get to bring a notecard! Drops lowest test grade as well. Amazing
Young is the best 112 teacher at uic! he is really clear and he includes jokes and such in his lectures to keep things interesting. He doesn't curve but he gives a ton of extra credit. oh and he cancels class all the time on fridays!
Professor Young's class was pretty difficult, unless you studied for this class like CRAZY and went to every lecture (which was hard to do.. but he posts them online so you can always catch up). Definitely attend discussion, hopefully you can understand TA. 1st exam is always easy, but the 2nd and 3rd averages are usually 50's/low 60's. good luck!
Proffessor has nice clear powerpoints with step by step show of work for problems. He doesn't really care to answer questions from students during lecture or through email. If you work hard in the beginning, the class with be a breeze towards the end. Make sure you do well on online quizzes and do all extra credit! It really helps!
Online review tests were nothing like the actual exams, no wonder the class average was usually below a 60% that should say something. Maybe if he actually put on his exam what he taught, then maybe more people would have done better! DO NOT RECOMMEND!!
Nice and understanding man. Offers lots of extra credit and gives the option to not take the Final if you already have a 90% in the class. Aleks is VERY time consuming but helpful. Weekly online quizes that are easy to pass using Yahoo Answers. Posts lectures with audio online, so attendance is not needed.
Online exams don't resemble actual exams, but the practice exams in the course supplement were very helpful. He never responds to emails, and his TA's are somewhat clueless about the course.
If your someone who doesnt go to class and learns independently, then this is the guy for you. lectures basically useless, best to learn on your own from the book. If you can do all the examples in the book, youll do well. I got an A and didnt have to take the final. Young doesnt have office hours or responds to emails so yea...
i took him for chem 101 and chem 112 and i did not have to take the final. take him for both classes bcuz the material is a little similar. aleks was annoying. the exams were decent-2nd n 3rd are hard. ADVICE:do aleks, extra credit and study for exams.
Okay, young is NICE and "easy". but honestly, he sucks. if you only need one chem class and you are not looking forward to proceeding any further, then take him. he doesnt give lab reports. his quizzes are all online (yes obviously you will cheat) the practicals are a joke. lectures can be heard online.
prof. does not care whether you learn or not. u have two choices: 1- u attend all lectures and learn on ur own and do all HW, u get a SUPER easy A! 2- u attend at first, then get lazy and stop attending and stop studying. suddenly, exams are super hard and u understand anything and labor miserably and get a bad grade. be careful, DONT GET LAZY!
Good lecturer but his tests are hard and the hwbis ridiculous
Not that bad if you pay attention and study, but tests are kinda hard.
First exam is a joke, but the second and third exams are difficult. Be extremely cautious when you take this class, Professor Young likes to talk about how "simple" everything is but you should be the only one who judges what is easy and what is not. His lectures are powerpoint but they can be boring sometimes. Make good use of the book as well.
He is horrible! Tests are hard and not what is expected! TA was even worse! Makes mistake on exam answer keys and doesn't correct them! All he says sorry next time I will give extra credit and guess what no extra credit! DO NOT TAKE!
He's an okay professor. No one goes to discussions (TA's are horrible). Google his online quizzes. He shows simple examples but then put hard questions on the exam. Sample exams online are useless but handouts help a lot. I got D's and F's on his exams, B on the final, and still managed to get a B (he curves grades) and he gives extra credit.
Honestly, I never went to class, only did my ALEKS, and that helps A LOT. People ended up hating ALEKS, but just do it. Study past exams, they're mostly alike. First exam is way too easy and then 2nd one is hard and 3rd isnt as hard as the 2nd one. Unfortunately, he isnt teaching Spring 2011.
HELPFUL BUT DIFFICULT
He records everything, and everything is online. If you miss lecture, you can watch it on blackboard.
He is a really good professor. He has great lecture notes and gives lots of extra credit.
He is a good teacher and the class is set up for you to past. Everything is online and "googlable."
This professor is confident and knows what he is doing. Some of his tests are hard and his TA's are not helpful at all.
He's direct when asked a ?. He explains the details in his lectures and expects you to pay attention. The chapters at the end of the book SAVED MY LIFE. I did most of them to completion and ended up getting all of them right on my test. Sense of humor may be dry, but it passes the time. He's generous when it comes to extra credit. Do it!!
Easiest Chem 112 teacher at UIC. Tests are multiple choice, unlike the other chem 112 teachers who give exams in the format of short answer/show work questions.
He is an awesome teacher. His notes are SUPER clear and there are practice problems. He gives extra credit and his quizzes are based on the extra credit. He also gives sample exams before the exam which are very close to what is on the exams. If you get a 90% or above you do not have to take the final. You should 100% take this professor. The BEST!
Easiest class of the semester. If you get a 90 percent or above you dont have to take the final, which is AWESOME! I probably went to 5 lectures tops. I studied off the book and got pretty good test scores, well i got exempted from the final. Hes not boring but his lectures always make me sleep, hence i never go. but easy class overall.
He's pretty straightforward w/ lectures & everything's in the book. A lot of his stuff are online but I recommend getting the book. His quizzes are easy& all on BB but exams are not as easy as the sample exams - make sure you know the chapters. He doesn't take attendance at lectures bt your TA may take attendance in dsc - make sure you go to them.
He's a good teacher. You really go over materials in discussion classes and lectures. Quizzes are online and no lecture when theres a quiz. Gives extra credits which is good. But his tests can throw you off. Tricky and hard.
this class was easy even though i sometimes had trouble contacting him through email, but he never responded ever.! EVER!the only helpful person was my TA. all you have to do is do the tutorials, and your set to do good in your quizzes and exams (: (: ;)
Professor Young is an easy teacher in the sense that it's easy to get an A in his class. His first exam was easy, but the second and third exams were hard and I actually studied a lot. There are no lab reports. Extra credit raises your grade a lot. Exam content of the 2nd/3rd exams are way different from lectures and are similar to book problems.
I wouldn't say this is an easy A like others are saying you have to really study. Many ppl get confident b/c the 1st exam is always easy then the other 2 are hard causing them 2 drop the course b/c they failed the other 2 exams. i got an A but it came from studying long hours and constantly going to my TA for help. ps YAOMING is the best TA ever.
A professor that gives you 3 extra-credit assignments that add extra points to your midterm and quiz scores? I haven't found an easiest professor at UIC than Young. Can't say much about his teaching 'cause I missed a lot of his lectures, I basically learned by myself. But those extra-credit assignments helped me to get exempted from the final.
Will send help your way if needed. Great Extra Credit assignments online were very helpful and best of all he gave me a med school recommendation letter that helped me get into one of the best schools in the city
He is really cool and cracks a couple jokes now and then. He talks throughout the whole lecture. He will not answer emails, and isn't a great source to go for help. I would recommend, but just prepare yourself to go to the Science Learning Center a lot for tutoring.
Great professor! He wrote the textbook and all of the powerpoints for the lectures are in it but you could easily bring your laptop and follow along. Little to no homework. He is very clear. The tutorials look exactly like his quizzes and he offers practice exams for the exams that you can do an unlimited number of times.
Although the material is difficult, he explains everything. He sometimes rushes through the slides but you have the book to follow at your own pace. Not many hw assignments and he gives extra credit too. He drops the lowest test grade and quiz grade and if you pass with an A, you do not need to take the final. You don't attend class on quiz days :)
Not too shabby, he speaks clearly and goes through material in reasonable time. He is friendly and kind enough to ask if there are any questions. I would recommend him as a professor!
He is a great proffesor! I would recommend him to anyone! His powerpoint lectures are clear and they're all in the text book! He's a very knowledgable man and knows what he's talking about. It shouldn't be that hard to pass his class. Just attend every lecture and DO the tutorials online! They really help refreshen your skills.
He is an ok professor. His lectures are informative but they tend to drag. if you go to lecture and practice the online problems, that will be enough to do well on quizzes, but his exams are ridiculously hard. There is also a huge curve at the end and tons of extra credit.
He's an okay teacher. His lectures were boring but bearable. Extra credit is given out and MAKE SURE TO DO ALL OF IT. I didn't do all of them in the beginning totally regretted it later. I ended up being border line and got the lower grade. TAs are good. Go to discussions (especially right before exams).
Professor Young was my favorite professor. Very clear and helpful. His power points were extremely helpful. His class was not super hard, but you should study. He gave a lot of extra credit so anything other than an A/B is probably your fault. Highly recommended!
It's funny how during exam days the lecture hall is packed but on regular lecture hours maybe 20 people show up..I guarantee those 20 people got an A or B.. and the bad comments are from people who didn't go, or went but talked in the back the whole time. Class based on pts and not % so that's amazing and 40 pts E.C. available which helps TONS.
Young is probably the most requested UIC chemistry professor. His lectures and the way he runs the class never changes. I was lucky enough to have him for Chem101 and Chem112. I did good in both. He gives tons of extra credit. He'll even re-open hw assignments if you forget to do one or if you want to try for a higher grade. Loved him.
Ok, I have very mixed feeling about professor Young. His lectures are too boring, 20 min in his class will put you aslep. Tests are very tricky and hard..But..1)He gives tons of extra credit 2)let you retake exams 3)attendance is not mandatory 4)easy going 5)YOU HAVE TO STUDY a lot on your own. I got A, but I used a lots of other sources to study
