Not as bad as the other posted stated, but she does have biases and talks A LOT about herself. I guess I learned a couple things, but got a lot more out of Diverse Populations. Over all not a bad professor, just stuck in her ways and her stories.

She talks an insanely amount about herself, that really bugged me. Hated going to the class b/c of it. Does treat you like you are in elem. school. Gives assignments that are not on the syllabus but they are really easy. Bit unorganized but Very easy class. If you don't mind her talking about herself so much, take the class.

She was very sweet and told lots of stories. She laid her expectations out on the syllabus and followed it precisely. If you need anything, she is there and responds fairly quickly to e-mails. I really liked her.

name tags, assigned seats, coloring, group assignments; it was like being in second grade. she takes up an hour and a half of the class talking about herself and her stories which are interesting about half the time, but, the class is EXTREMELY easy and i got an A without even trying. so its worth it to put up with her for the grade

Mrs. Cate makes class fun and interesting, plus the way she manages her class makes time go by really fast. She gives a lot of easy grades, too.

SHE IS A NICE TEACHER. HER CLASS IS EXTREMELY EASY. SHE TALKS ALOT ABOUT HER LIFE & ADDS THAT TO HER LECTURES WHICH MAKES IT INTRESTING. EDF 2005 IS NOT HARD AT ALL YOU WILL GET AN "A" WITHOUT EVEN TRYING BUT YOU DO HAVE TAKE ONLINE QUIZZES & GET INTO GROUPS ALOT. THE ONLINE QUIZZES ARE STRAIGHT OUT OF THE TEXTBOOK & SHE REVIEWS REALLY WELL 4 IT.

this class is very easy she makes the class fun with her stories. she gives less work than dr. leavey. the only hard part about the class is the three papers that all the classes have to do.

Mrs. Cate made class interesting for me. She helps you by demonstrating classroom skills. Lots of work but easy grader. I recommend her!

this class is pretty easy but alot of work. theres a paper, quiz or assignment due almost every class and tons of in class group projects and presentations. she's very anal about attendence and u lose points for not coming to class, she never lets u out of class early not even on the first day. but she tells good stories and is a very good teacher!

I thought she was a great teacher! Class was about two hours long but it didn't feel like two hours. She told a lot of stories that kept me interested and I would love to have her as a teacher again!

Wonderful teacher! She loves to talk so if you don't mind stories of real life experiences, take someone else. She opened my eyes to the real world of teaching. Projects were fun and easy. The final is actually a one minute lesson plan. Didn't really read the book, only for quizzes and she gives you hints a lot in the class.

This teacher demonstrates first hand the effectiveness storytelling can have in a classroom. I really enjoyed her Intro. class and hope to see her around. If you do your work and are respectful- you will have a great time and do fine. Showing up to class IS NOT a challenge, b/c she makes it really interesting.

This lady is so freakin sweet. So kind. She loves teaching, truly loves it. She does tell lots of stories and can get very long-winded so in a 50 minute class, much of it is her stories. But the class isn't hard. You get full credit just for doing the assignments, not how well you do them. Don't be a lazy ass and you'll get an A

This is a very easy class to get an A in. I don't think I learned much, though. Her classes are filled with long stories about her past students and sometimes it seems like no work ever gets done. She is a sweet lady, but sometimes it feels like she's acting (one of her tenets is that a teacher should always be "on-stage"). Dr. Leavy is better IMO.

Mrs. Cate is a wonderful and very experienced teacher! Her stories always somehow relate to the lesson for the day, and are always interesting. She is so sweet and definitely knows what she is talking about. Definitely a great intro class and really shows you if you are meant for the teaching profession or not. Easy A, just show up & do the work!

Easiest class ever! She's a little annoying and treats you like you're 4 sometimes, but she cn be funny. If you don't make an A you shouldn't be a teacher or even be in college.

I love Mrs. Cate sooo much!!! I have her right now and she is amazing!! Yeah, she tells lots of stories, but she said that she would on day 1 and 99% of the time her stories have a connection to the lesson... She only went on a tangent like twice. Also, she DOES make you make name cards and do things that might seem elementary, but think about it... Some people want to teach elementary school and doing things like that gives you ideas on how to run your own class later. She's amazing!! & easy A.

Mrs.Cate is such an amazing teacher, you should absolutely take her class! She really cares about her stuents and wants to see everyone succeed. She tells a lot of stories, but they are relevent to class, and are much more enjoyable to listen to than lectures. Her papers are her hardest assignments, and they werent even that hard! im still in the class and it is by far my favorite. its pretty chill and easy. shes really nice and understanding. the quizzes are pretty simple as long as you pay attention at least a little bit in class. i would definitely recommend this to anyone!

Mrs. Cate shares her personal teaching stories which show students a more emotional side of teaching. I liked her. She was funny and entertaining. Very easy. Very relaxed. Positive classroom environment. Observation do take some time out of your schedule. Do them as soon as you can.

Mrs. Cate loves teaching and she shows it. If you think you want to be a teacher, take this class. Mandatory 15 observation hours to receive credit for the class. Quizzes are online, therefore open book. Everything is straight forward and very easy. Mrs. Cate has been my favorite professor ever.

Mrs. Cate tends to ramble on and on about personal teaching experiences. At first it was charming but then it just got kind of annoying. The course is extremely easy, often felt like kindergarten work. 15 required school observation hours and a few textbook based quizzes, not hard at all.

Attend class & attempt assignments and you'll be fine. After the first 4-5 chapters, I didn't open the book again. Easy enough I was annoyed to have to drive there twice a week just for that class.

Mrs. Cate is an awesome instructor. To get an A, all you need to do is go to class for attendance points, and be entertained by her corny, yet funny stories about her family. Do the work, as simple as it is, those worksheets all have points, and those points ADD UP. JUST DO THE WORK! Book wasn't used much, no need to buy! Good Luck!

Mrs. Cate is a really good teacher, she's passionate about teaching and I've learned a few life lessons from her stories. Her stories are what's on the test, and helps you remember. Class attendance is mandatory and is a huge part of your grade.

Miss. Cate (she doesn't like to be called professor) is a wonderful and energetic teacher with lots of experience and a very easy to follow syllabus. The HW is easy, but there is a lot of handouts to keep track of and it is easy to forget them, so just stay on track and you are good to go. There is also loads of in class work, so show up!

You will not find another professor at USF that is more caring than Ms. Cate. To the person that said she is the worst professor, you probably should not be a teacher. Ms. Cate cares so much about her students. Tells a lot of stories. She gives plenty of bonus points to help, and you must do 15 observation hours. If you fail it is on you.

Such an amazing teacher. It is so clear to see her passion for teaching, and her obvious "teacher heart". This class will get you SO EXCITED (if you aren't already) for the teaching career. As long as you do all your assignments (not difficult) and come to class (trust me you'll want to), you should easily get a good grade.

Observation reports are simple if you just follow the models, which are very detailed. Go to class, each one is worth ten points (sometimes 20, depending on lesson plan). Take her class!

I really enjoyed having Paula as my professor. She was so sweet and inspiring to future teachers. She told a lot of stories from her experiences and gave helpful tips for us. She gives a lot of bonus opportunities and is an easy grader.

She grades every class on participation, so you can't skip, but she offers tons of extra credit opportunities. Make sure you're able to book it to your next class after her's tho bc she always lets out at the last minute of class. Only a few bigger projects.

You have to love teaching or be semi-interested in the profession in order to get a semi-decent grade in this class. There's a mandatory 15 hours of observation that you have to complete in order to pass the class. There's quizzes, reports, and lots of assignments. But also lots of extra credit and know you will have to present. She's a wonderful.

I love this woman she is so sweet and southern old grandma core. She lectures through story telling. She is not a crazy tough grader but she looks for very specifc things and expects you to know what that is. She is also god awful with technology. She really cares about her students and classes.
