Rangel is a great woman. Very sweet, and passionate. There is a lot of work, but do it, and you'll be set. Easy midterm, a few papers. Take the class.

The class is pretty interesting, but she gives WAY too much work for only a Level 2 class...don't take unless you want a lot of work to do.

Way too much work for a gened, but it is an interesting class, just don't take the one night a week because it is sooo boring! Watch a lot of videos

Her stories are touching, and she is a sweet woman. She offers a lot, here is the rundown: 2 4 page papers, 1 research paper, 2 tests, and journal entries. Her work stays the same from semester to semester so ask your friends if they have her work. EASY

Lot of work, but grades the work very easy. Videos, stories, Hard Final...but take if you need the Gen Ed..not a bad class.

Quite possibly the worst final I have taken in my lifetime. Otherwise, easy assignments, wonderful woman, lots of writing, but its all common sense. Take notes, and read and you got an A.

Wow- this class was not hard. what are you people talking about?? You had to keep on track of stuff but overall, just need to come to class. She turned me into a feminist- totally inspiring. I love her.

I am a guy and this was the easiest class i've ever had. She is a very easy grader, and the work isn't that bad. Yeah you have to read two books, but this is college. I never had a problem once, and i would recommend her for a gened. Great Professor!!

This class covers A LOT of information. Focuses mostly on history. Tests are all essay or short answer and comes mostly from readings in the text. The class is hard but she was nice and offered to help students off class time.

Besides being a good teacher she is a great woman. Class covers tons of info. Easy grader though. Must put time and effort if you want an A.

I loved this class. She is an excellent teacher. We did work hard but I got my money's worth. The guys in my class were awesome and did great also. Definitely recommend this one!

Great Woman! Would recommend for a Gened. As long as you keep up with the readings you will be fine. I am a Guy and I thought this class was a little hard at first, but i ended up getting an A. Stick with it and you will get an easy A!

I hated the material, but she was such a sweet lady. Easy grader, but you HAVE to study for the midterm and final. There's also a paper on Fried Green Tomatoes, a research paper, and weekly journals she collects at the end of the semester.Never got out of class early. It wasn't too bad for a GenEd, If you have to take this class, take it with her.

good teacher, but she will expect alot from you..Journals for each week is collected at hte end of the semester, there is one reaserach paper, but the topics are interesting. the mid term is hard, you basically have to memorize the notes. write down everything she says

I took her class at night and it was awful! Kept us until the very end and then took role! Boring boring boring! Might have been better as a two or three day a week class.

2 papers, one journal, and a midterm + final. not bad at all. midterm is from the lecture so write down everything she says. after the midterm you dont have to write anything at all because final is from the reading. easy grader. i'm a lazy mofo but still got B.

This class is ridiculously interesting. She's very fair, and a great listener. It's nice to have a teacher that likes to know what students think. She even runs a class debate on****ography. Her stories are amazing, and you won't be bored. two papers and a presentation. It's not bad. Sign Up.

Agree class is interesting and cant get much easier, lots of reading but I don't like reading but found the stories good. She loves what she does and it comes through. Very fair.

Reading ratemyprof you'd think this class was awful... ITS NOT AT ALL! She is an absolute sweetheart. Interesting to listen to, fair grader, and genuinely cares about her students.. TAKE HER!

Lots of reading, most of it pretty boring. She's very into participation, its worth like a quarter of your grade. She's not always so clear, especially when giving assignments. The class itself is pretty interesting though.

Classes are kinda boring but she is a fair grader. Midterm is hard but if you do well on the papers,debate,and final, which is pretty easy,you should get a B or A.

I love this professor! she talked about things that most teachers are afraid to touch on. I definitely would take her again!! Excellent professor, although tests can be tricky so you will need your book. EXCELLENT WOMAN!!!

midterm was all about lecture. No books Forget taking notes. U can't keep up so bring a recorder. Lost points for participation, don't know why,I talked every class.She never answered my emails either. Personal info was wat tmi, totally not necessary!She should say those things in counceling,I didn't pay to hear her life story. Her way or no way

Would recommend her. Makes class interesting by showing videos. Class participation is 25% of the grade and blackboard posting also counts toward participation.

Nice lady, but kind of scatterbrained. Expected you to do the readings, but we never discussed them in class, and only about 5 out of around 25 chapters were relevent to the exams. Midterm was short answer, and final was all essays. Also a project. Not a harsh grader or a bad professor, just a little bit all over the place.

Not a bad teacher. You could tell she felt strongly about the subject did inspire me about it. Not many assignments and exams were very doable. I would take her again.

One of the nicest professors I've ever met. She gives a clear syllabus of every reading that is expected for the entire semester along with the 2 papers. All that she asks is that you read and participate in the class discussions which really is not asking for much. She does speak in a soft voice so pay attention and take good notes.

Overall her class was pretty easy.. Most classes were just open discussions about different topics in the books, movies, the election, celebrities, etc.. Not many grades so make sure you show up and talk some to get points. Final is take home and midterm was fairly easy. One powerpoint presentation and weekly online blogs. Didn't use the books much

We did pretty much nothing in this class but talk the whole time. We were given readings every week out of a bunch of books she told us to buy but i didn't read any. There are questions on the midterm but other than that it doesn't mater if u read or even have the book. The final is take home and easy written report. This professor is so sweet

I took a summer class with Prof Rangel, I had MANY online difficulties. Since the class was all online, it made it quite worrisome. She was so easy to communicate with, and VERY understandable! My entire final exam erased after I spent hours and hours of working on it, and she not only extended the deadline, but was very understanding! GREAT CLASS!

I took this online during the minimester. There was a lot of HW and required videos/readings. As long as you do them and take notes you'll be fine. I thought the material was interesting and fun to write about. She always gave feedback on everything I turned in and was available for help!

I was very skeptical about this whole class, but Professor Rangel made it very interesting. There were many videos and articles that just made me give the subject much more thought. I got my books from the public library so the cost was none, as there were quite a few copies available. Time consuming homework, but manageable.

Took this as an asynchronous and I really liked it. No expensive textbook, but there are 2 books which you can find for less than a total of $25. Expect to watch a lot videos (mostly ted talks ) and exams are usually word-for-word from videos/readings. Super easy class, but there are weekly journal entries and occasional analysis papers.

Professor Rangel was sooo considerate during this tough time! Her work is easy but you write a few papers (1-2 pages).
