Very scattered. Does not explain things well. constantly makes mistakes and is corrected by students. Her exams are hard and the notes she gives are basically straight out of the book. As a person, she seems sweet but not exactly a good professor. I do NOT recommend taking this class with her.
I recommend that if you take this class and want to clearly understand the info you should take it more than once a week. I felt that she was a great teacher because she was very willing to help you whenever you needed it or explain anything. She gives you notes that are out of the book but they sum up all the info.
I had her for Lab. She is very nice and helpful. Always willing to help. The labs were a little difficult for me, I never seemed to get perfect scores but I'm that was mostly my fault. She is a great Lab teacher, I would definitely recommend her.
A & P is hard -- you have to study. However, she's clear about the expectations and wants you to succeed in the class. You can easily fill in things you don't understand from the book. She gives study guides and learning objectives so you can study exactly what you need to know. Study hard and study often and ask questions. You can get an A or a B.
Great teacher who is interested in teaching. You have to attend class and pay attention as well as review the study guides. It is a real class but not overly demanding to get an A. You will do well if you spend more time paying attention to the lecture instead of your cell.
I have Rodgers for lab. She's very clear, engaging, and helpful. Test/quiz format is that of basic level labs. Quizzes test you on how well you understood the lab exercises you performed. Objectives are given to students to help them prep for the quiz after each lab. Don't be afraid to ask her questions, she's very insightful.
Wonderful woman. Extremelly helpful. However; when it comes to teaching, not so great. Excited about her topic, but not clear. I recorded all her lectures, nothing that she spoke in class was ever on the test. tries to confuse you and trick you at testing. Does not want to give out her power points. Lecture notes different from Power points.
Awesome teacher and very enthusiastic about biology, which makes it easier to pay attention! I really enjoyed having her as a teacher!
It surprises me that she has lower ratings because she is an awesome teacher! She is super sweet and extremely helpful. Drops lowest quiz and also exam grade. Her exams aren't hard (I promise) just study!! It's easy as long as you pay attention and take out time to study.
Prof Rodgers is great. Took her for Bio 101 and 141. She posts lecture notes FOR you to follow along with, drops your lowest quiz grade, and offers some extra credit on exams. She wants you to succeed and she is a very sweet person. Study and ask questions; she is so open to helping students. She gives you all the tools you need to succeed.
Prof. Rodgers is great. I highly recommend her. She is a very kind, sweet lady who is very willing to help her students out. Studying is a MUST however, there is alot of material and you do need to dedicate alot of time to studying in order to get a good grade! But Prof. Rodgers definitely makes it easier to understand the material. Take her!
if you want a A take her class. Don't forget to bring your notebook because it is a easy A that helps, she makes the class fun. But the only problem with taking her is that you will never take another teacher other than her again she is the best in the world :)
FABULOUS! If you show up for class and pay attention, then you will do well. She is very eager to help and wants you to succeed!
Mrs. Rodgers is a wonderful Anatomy teacher, and she is very nice. However, you will have to work hard to get an A, it does not come easy. She requires you to study a lot of material for the exams. I have to take the class again. I did learn a lot about Anatomy, it was just a tough class!!!
Prof Rodgers is fantastic. I took both BIO 141 and 142 with her. Show up to class, follow along and fill in the notes (that she provides), and review the material. There are a few quizzes (that are great study material for tests) and tests that she will ensure you are prepares for. She is always willing to provide extra help.
Study notes, make flash cards and you will rock this class. She is engaging and helpful; VERY CLEAR and concise about what she expects. Very well organized and planned out courses.
She is by far the best science teacher I have ever had. I took her for 102 and passed with an A working half as much as I had been in the past. All you have to do is always be on time and attend lectures and labs because you can't make up to the missed assignments. Tests come from study guides just be clear of the topics. Great teacher!
Great professor, no to easy but you will learn much with her high knowledge also she is so nice and happy to assist you. Take her!
She is great, with her, u have to take u will learn a lot, some profs will give everything for exam, I mean what kind of questions will be, with such kind of profs, u will receive only better grade, but not the knowledge. But with her, u will begin to think critically. enjoyed her class.
I took hybrid class, she is really great.
I love Professor Rodgers! A+P is a lot of information so you should be prepared to memorize, and also study hard for the Lecture and Lab Exams. Other than that, she is very easy to talk to and is willing to stop and help you when you need it. I am definantly taking her class again next semester.
Dr. Rodgers is an AMAZING bio prof for both lec and lab! She teaches the material in a very clear and concise way (she even provides the notes! they are fill-in-the-blanks with the missing info coming from her lectures). Do not need a book, she gives you all the info (just study the notes). Make sure to show up to lec and lab though! Easy grader.
Mrs. Rodgers is a very nice professor, and she tries. But Anatomy is already a very challenging class and she just makes it more challenging. I spent countless hours studying & still got a C. The objectives don't match the lecture notes that she has pre-made for you to fill in blanks (is this middle school?) & is VERY unorganized. Never again...
A&P is a tough class no matter who your teacher is. She does a great job of staying organized, making sure you know what to expect, and letting you know what to study (in her lecture notes there are "objectives" highlighted that you should use as a study guide). Never makes you feel stupid, always responds to emails. Caring and genuine.
Mrs. Rodgers is very nice and knowledgeable but the class is not easy. Not textbook needed cause she makes you use her notes as a study guide. The class can get really boring and dry as she lectures a lot. Tests are very difficult because the notes don't always match the questions on the test. Only take her if you are willing to study hard.
She makes the 3 hour lectures interesting! As long as you pay attention, take notes, and study even when theres not a test, you should be golden. I wish I studied more, but I still came out with a good grade so I'm not complaining.
I love Professor Rodgers! I have taken her twice, and am signing up for more. A & P was awesome, our class was so tight and friendly, and we all got A's. You have to connect with Rodgers, and really work for the grade, but its A&P, its hard stuff, Rodgers makes it so much better. Take her, she is the best at Loudoun, just leave room for me. Pre-med
not very organized. you have to study quizzes and test are in the same week could spread out better . lectures boring
If you really wanna understand the material, she's the one you want to take. She knows how to teach, and is ready to help. Her lecture, learning objectives and exam are coherent. You do need to work hard and put hours into self study since A&P is tough subject to learn. If you work hard, it's possible to get an A
This is a very hard class. I respect Ms. Rodgers ability to help students outside of class. There is not a lot of homework to bump up your grade and the exams are hard.
She is so cool! I love her! Overall, Anatomy and Physiology IS NOT an easy class, no matter what, you HAVE to work for it! I like Paula Rodgers because she's very clear when she teaches. You can bond with her, she's funny and just a really sweet and nice person. Only downside of her, she doesn't upload her powerpoint & that sucks if you miss class!
I took her hybrid class, it was a lot of material, but professor Rodgers is willing to help and explain the material step but step. A& P isn't an easy class, it takes effort and a lots of study. Just be sure to show up to class and lab, study for quizzes and test and you will pass the class.
Prof. Rodgers is very nice and caring towards her students. She is available in her office hours to help students who are struggling with A&P since it is a hard course. You will have to study for it or else there is no way you will pass with a good grade. Her tests were pretty much from the learning objectives so always go over them.
Prof. Rodgers is AMAZING! I took her for both 141&142. Her lectures are intriguing, she gives you outlines to take notes on during her lectures so its more organized. Also, DO THE LEARNING OBJECTIVES!! Her tests really do come almost straight from those. She's very accessible and has so many office hours & responds to emails quickly. TAKE HER!
Very Good lecturer, you will learn in her class as long as you follow the lecture outline. If you take the notes on your own you most likely will fail. She is very organized and passionate about her class. However lecture outlines can get confusing and hard to follow, since she squeezes a lot of hardcore material in it, always follow the notes 1st
Hard class, lecture outline is difficult to follow at times, very organized but rushed. The objectives are hard, but the notes are basic yet confusing, I think that while summing up hard material to make it easy, she may have made it confusing and just hard to follow along, She definitely needed to be precise in the outlines, as well as clear too.
Professor Rodgers is one of the best professors I've had at NOVA so far. She gives good explanations whenever someone has a questions, gives online review sessions before exams, and really cares about her students. She is friendly and caring and is always ready to help whoever needs it. I'd definitely choose her for any BIO class. She's the best!
This course was tough, however you should expect that. I took a hybrid online course, so her lectures were available to watch over and over again. Take advantage of her office hours! One on one learning in this course can be helpful, she was able to explain concepts to me in a different way during this time and I mastered them.
Professor Rodgers is a great teacher. She made her lectures very clear and easy to follow thanks to her already made outlines. She explains all the content clearly and is always available to answer any questions. Her exams are pretty easy if you take the time to study following her learning objectives. I would definitely recommend her.
Professor Rodgers is very friendly and cares about her students. I failed the first exam and realized I couldn't just skirt by in class. She gives you everything you need to know to succeed. She hosts study sessions outside of class before the exams and she has even stayed after class to answer my questions. Hard class but she is awesome!
Don't take this class if you want a reasonably easy professor. She says the course is easy as long as you follow the objectives, but the objectives are hard to understand and her lectures are always rushed and she doesn't spend enough time on the concepts that are hard to understand. Bottom line is that you'll have to teach yourself everything.
look man this is not the class to get an easy A. This teacher genuinely loves biology and will make you work for it don't take this class if you don't absolutely loves biology... coming from a finesser
Prof. Rodgers is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic when it comes to biology. The subject matter is tough, but she's very detailed and always willing to answer questions during class. She's a lovely person who cares about her students, and I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from her.
Prof. Rodgers is an amazing teacher she would go over the topics that you struggle with. her exams are easy if you study the objectives. you will do well if you put the work into it overall a great professor.
the best lab teacher i have had, she cares and is helpful and very clear. This was a great teacher!
In order to pass the class you just have to show up and study the learning objectives and you should be good to go. She makes the material really easy to understand
I took her and personally feel that her lectures and lab are not correlated at all and are not organized. I come out of lab feeling like I didn't grasp any information. Her lectures are easy and brief and exams are in-depth and difficult. Had an A in BIO 141 and now i have a C in her class. and she lectures during lab?!
I love her so much!! I took bio 141 with her and got an A and so far I have an A in the class for bio 142. She is NOT boring at all. Study the terminology sheet for lab and I promise you'll get an A. Lectures exams are fair, but if you study her lecture outlines and review objectives you'll do fine. TAKE HER! She's awesome!! Wish she taught Bio150
Very unorganized. For a class like this, it makes it VERY difficult when your professor is all over the place. Don't get me wrong she's very kind, but something was off. The lectures are easy and her objectives make you think you know everything front and back, but then you get to the test and it's way harder than expected. I wouldn't take again.
She is a very nice lady who cares about her students. But she is the worst professor. She is BEYOND disorganized & gets so sidetracked to the point where we don't finish the chapter & we have to learn the rest through her "online lectures." Her exams consist of MC & "short answers" that are 4 pages long and some aren't even on the study guide!!
She is so nice and cares about her students but she is really disorganized. We had to skip around the units a lot and we used a lot of online lectures. When she got a chance she was really clear and explained things thoroughly but I felt like we were always rushing and never got time to finish what we said we would finish.
Professor Rodgers is great. You will definitely learn with her because there are lecture outlines due every week, learning objectives for the exams and required pre/post lab work. Highly recommend the objectives if you want to get an A/B on the exams. Offered extra credit when we attended on campus seminars.
She's awesome!! She is not boring in her lectures and explains things very clearly. I would study her objectives and terminology sheets. She also provides lecture outlines to help take notes. I took her for Bio 141 and 142 and got As on both. The class itself is hard, but Rodgers really made sure we understood topic. She is very caring and nice
This professor is sweet and nice but very confusing when giving lectures. Exams are not what are on the objectives, very extra when giving quizzes and lecture outlines dont help out at all. Drops one exam out of 3 but does not drop final, lectures too fast & doesnt explain her logic well. If you need this class dont take Rodgers,
Professor Rodgers is amazing!! She is always willing to help out and wants you to succeed. Organization and time management is key in this class. Her learning guide, learning objectives and homework help a ton. Literally the nicest, sweetest, most approachable professor you will ever have! You will not regret taking her.
Instructs really well, especially on what we need to study and what needs to be done In order for everyone to understand the lab. As long as you show up and participate, the class will be easier to understand! But Id still work hard for the quizzes since they count a lot for the grade and help out a ton!
Amazing professor and I learned so much in her class. This class takes a lot of time and energy but if you spend time out of class studying the objectives until you know them well, you will do well in her class.
Best professor ever! I took her for bio 141 and 142 and she was great at explaining difficult concepts. Offers extra review sessions, and all her assignments are so helpful. She is very approachable, sweet and friendly. I would take her again if I could. Be prepared to dedicate your life to this class, so worth it and not impossible.
She's sweet, but lectures fast. The amount of work is OUTRAGIOUS.(Took as refresher, I've taken several A&P classes over the yrs, took this one 7yr ago, earned a B) Exams are NOT what are on the objectives, quizzes dont help w/ lecture exams. DO NOT take if you have other classes or work full time. This class takes 4-6 HOURS every DAY to keep up.
Professor Rodgers was one of the best teachers I have ever had for a Biology course. She was organized and you always knew what the lecture topic was going to be and when due dates were. Always do the learning objectives she has, the test material comes straight from those
shes great! you have to work or your grade but all the material is given to you! use her objectives she takes her test questions from here.
Great professor!! I took her for BIO 141 and 142 and she was very helpful. Her lectures are very detailed so make sure to focus in class. Tests are based off the learning objective sheets. She is really helpful in and outside of class to explain things to you. She really cares about her students and is very smart/passionate. SHE'S AWESOME!
Very knowledgable, reasonable, and fair. Loved this class largely due to Dr. Rodgers excellent teaching abilities. Go through the learning objectives and write out answers to each objective, study those responses and you'll be fine for the test.
She really cares about her students and wants them to do well. She explains the content very well and gives you feedback on your homework and labs. She has extra study sessions and responds to emails quickly. Makes lectures very interesting and helps you if you don't understand something.
Professor Rodgers was a very good professor for Anatomy and Physiology. All of the information that needed to be learned and that was tested on was clearly stated in the learning objectives. She was also incredibly knowledgeable about the subject and answered every question very thoroughly. She was caring and also has a good sense of humor.
The Professor is kind and clear on instructions. She doesn't give you a precise point on what to study; half the time, there is barely any on the exam, too much homework, like five assignments; you have post-lab(4 pages), pre-lab, terminology quiz, barely time to study and back-to-back exams I'm passing with a C but I need this class for a program
Prof Rodgers is amazing! I took her for lecture and Lab Her class is organized so well its very easy to know what to study. take notes and do the homework/study you will 100% excel in this course She provides a note outline making it much easier and provides a study session before the tests She also goes back any time a student asks during class
I loved professor Rodgers! No busy work. Everything she assigns helps for the exams. She provides lecture outlines which help for note taking. She will take as much time to make sure the class understands the material.
This is a hard class and Prof Rodgers didn't help me learn it. She always seems distracted. She is hard to hear and only explains things part way when I ask her questions. She seems like she has a lot on her mind and didn't have time for me. She is also disorganized.
I enrolled in both bio 141 and 142 with this professor. Despite the substantial lecture material in both courses, the professor has skillfully crafted clear and manageable lecture outlines, greatly aiding in achieving high grades.
Eh. Not a good prof, but most of the exams are online. Sometimes questions are in a different order, but its mostly all there. Makes up for her awful teaching.
Professor Rodgers has changed the way I've learned Human AP. Her lectures are so structured and easy to follow, her lecture outlines include every learning objective that shows up on exams. Tests will never have anything that you won't expect. This is a hard class but Prof Rodgers truly makes it easy and enjoyable. Take her class! No regrets.
The most disorganized prof I ever had. Always seems distracted. Made the class so much harder! Tests do not match objectives. When I asked what I need to know for the exam, she says Everything! I want to know how to study, but she is too disorganized and distracted to help.
Professor Rodgers is really nice and easy to understand. Her lectures are well organized, she prepares a lecture outline for you to take notes. Brace yourself because there is a lot of information to learn but she makes it easier by providing the notes outline and learning objectives which will help you for the exams. Best of luck.
Prof Rodgers is amazing, I never liked bio until I took it with her! She encourages questions and does a great job answering them so everyone can understand. Do her lecture objectives, take her practice quizzes, and you'll ace her tests. Classes are fun and interactive, and she's got great stories from her research days that she ties into lectures!
The class material itself is pretty difficult, but that's to be expected. Prof rodgers is soooo sweet and tries her hardest to make everything fun and simple. If ur having trouble, go to her office hours, thats what i did. I would def take her again :)
Mrs. Rodgers is a very great professor at NOVA. She understands the material she is teaching and is very passionate about the material which makes the class enjoyable. Her lectures are very fun if you participate. Only thing I disliked is the amount of exams for this classm total of 8. Its very hard to keep up with them but doable.
Professor Rodgers is an amazing professor. Took BIO 141 with her and I really understand the concepts, yes it was a bit hard to keep up but if you ask her questions after or during office hours and is able to explain again. There are four exams for lecture and four exams for lab.
Professor Rodgers clearly had favorite students that she met with outside of class. She never made time for me. When I was able to get an appointment with her, she canceled it at the last minute! I got a B, but I think I could have gotten an A if she had taken the time to answer my questions.
She is the best! It is a LOT of material, but she is so organized and willing to use her time out of class to help you. If you can't do will in this class with a great teacher like her, rethink your major. Textbook helps, but I wish I'd saved the money because it was more like supplementary material than crucial.
Amazing lectures. Hard class but she explains it and breaks it down. She is caring and very educated! She is very helped because she answers emails and does office hours! She gives study guides so you'll always know what will be on the exam!
Prof Rodger's acts like she cares, but in reality, she just picks favorites. She spends all her time with her favorite students during lab. Tons of homework and busywork. When I went to meet with her during office hours, she wasn't in her office. I clearly didn't matter to her.
Professor Rodgers basically spoon-feeds you all the information you need to know on the exams and provides a crazy amount of resources to help you study. I wouldn't recommend buying the textbook unless you really want to (everything is on her slides). She doesn't have favorites - just speak up like how you would with anyone else. EASY A!!!
So much busywork! Gives homework every day. Homework is long. Homework packets, quizzes. Rodgers is very disorganized. She lost many students homework. Don't assign it if you can't keep track of it. Worst professor I ever had.
Loved this class. The amount of material can be intimidating but she makes it as simple as she can and will go over things until you understand. There were only 4 homework packets and you have the whole unit to complete them. For lab there is a pre/post lab and term quiz which you have a whole week to complete. Put in the effort and you will do well
Talks to you like your a child. No respect. Tons of homework that doesn't help you learn anything. Worst professor I ever had.
I've been seeing mixed reviews of Prof. Rodgers but she is the easiest type of professor one can be. A&P is generally a difficult class so you must study outside class to succeed. Her objectives display the material that will be on exams. If you can't be in a class as easy as hers, good luck in actual rigorous courses...
A&P is a hard class. However, Rodgers gives you so many resources to make it as easy as possible. She provides lecture outlines, learning objectives, and posts all of the PPTs online. She is always willing to help and her lectures are very interesting. You will need to study a lot to get an A, but she's a great professor!!
You've found your A&P professor. Dr. Rodgers is the most caring, hardworking, organized, and talented individual I have ever interacted with at NOVA. Her Canvas, additional learning resources, homework and practice quizzes are all extremely productive and they make material click. Take her! You will not regret it.
Loved her so much I took her for both 141 & 142. She is great at lecturing and explaining concepts until they make sense. Her labs are very fun as well. The content requires a lot of studying, but she makes it as simple as possible and will meet with you if you need extra help! Taker her!
Paula has the highest of standards for everyone but can't uphold them herself. Loves to criticize others, when she should be criticizing herself... Needs a good self reflection
She's an amazing teacher. The learning objects were clear and followed exactly what was to be expected on the exam. Her lectures were very interactive as well. She was always reachable outside of class and was great at answering any questions we had on the material. She was very accommodating and offered zoom exam reviews. She really enjoys teaching!
Amazing professor! I can only imagine you only take this class if you complete 141 and let me tell you nothing changes another set of hellish weeks of studying. Though she is great doesn't change the fact its still a weed out course. You gotta put in the hours and if your behind its gonna have a snowball effect so you gotta stay on it.
