let's put it this way. we had 5 take home tests with about 2 weeks to work on them, and 1 in class final. we worked in groups and looked every answer up. the course average was a 70!
okay..I'm in her class right now...so boring! At the begin. of the semester, she does not tell you that you have to buy the textbk NEW. So I got a used one. Once Takeback policy expired, she then tells us to buy the book NEW. Total Bit*h!!And her lecs are boring as Hell & quite pointless also.......
I don't like putting people down, but honestly I don't like her. She is soooo boring. There is a quiz every week on stuff that she doesn't highlight or anything. It's pretty much up in the air. Overall a pretty easy class though. Take home midterm and final.
She is very easy. As long as you read, and listen to what she says in class you will ace the exams. Makes it very clear what is going to be on the exam. The reason you need to buy the book new is because you have take home quizzes...Can't get upset about that....
Didn't like this course. Dragged on and Didn't learn much. Quizzes are due every class period with this broad....Thank god this class is over!!! And for those who have her: "I feel your pain."
Just to let you all know: You DO NOT have to buy the textbook NEW. Just photocopy someone else's quiz sheets. No need to waste 80$...
uh.. can you say CRAZY? all i have to say is: freud bobble head and freud hand puppet smoking a cigar. need i say more?? Also, she mentioned to our class that she is a counselor..all i have to say is that if i went into a session with her, i would get up and leave. as a person though, she seems nice (most of the time). the class was easy though
Wonderful! Loved her class. It was difficult, but worth every minute. I learned a lot. Would definitely take her again.
see my comments under her full name. She's good, but difficult.
She does seem weird, but she is verry nice, she keeps you interesed. She always wants to hear what you have to say, very helpful, not hard-just dont miss a lot of classes and do your group work (it actually helps) even though its kind of annoying...Oh, and if you hae the chance, take her husband, he's awesome!
I didn't like this professor. I feel that she presents the material in an disorganized fashion and that the weekly quizzes are unnecessary. She basically forces you to come to he boring classes, because she switches the quiz schedule all around. I would not take another class with her.
so... this **** lost my test, then lost a quiz. VERY disorganized horrible teacher. has minimal office hours and shows up late to them. very unhelpful. if you decide to take this woman i just want to say.... i warned you.
Nice teacher but very unclear about stuff. Tests are sometimes rediculus. take home exams took me many hours to do. extra credit is avaiable. quiz on every chapter. notes are not avaibale online and she does not let you have time to copy them.
Sooooooo incredibly boring. Don't waste money on getting a notebook because she teaches directly from the book... word for word. We had a snow day on the day our tests were due, and she still expected us to bing them to her! A nice woman, needs a fashion makeover, but overall - not a horrible class. Just BORING.
Good teacher. Fairly easy class. Gives take home exams and weekly quizzes.
Probably the worst teacher in the PSY dept. Her take home tests are limited in pg # (10) but are sometimes 19 essays long so you can't give enough info & then she takes points off. Quizzes are straight out of book, class is long & boring, activities are lame & last forever, she is VERY UNORGANIZED & may need some therapy herself...
i would not recommend taking this teacher. she is very disorganized and basically you really do not need to pay attention to her in class, just make sure to read the book.
I took her twice because she was interesting. If you know how to be concise, and you actually look up the answers, the take home exams are easy. She also gives more extra credit options then any other teacher I've ever had, so i don't see why anyone's complaining.
I did not like this teacher at all. Doesn't leave notes up long enough for you to copy. Very unorganized. Can be extremely rude at times and makes her quizes somewhat hard. Overall shes a pretty easy professor, just did not like her at all
Bleh! That's all I can say about her. That and her lecs make me want to bite off my own arm and eat it.
the most amusing part of class was her outfits, def in need of an extreme makeover.. but shes very nice and loves it when you are interested in the material! The test are def hard and cover a lot of material, but if you go to class you will do very well!
This professor is just not cut out to be a teacher. She is awkward, the class is boring and she does not have a ph.d or psy.d. Furthermore, I accidentally bought the wrong book for the class and when I realized and told her she offerd me absolutely no oppurtunities to improve my poor grade due to having the wrong book.
Altho she is very weird/awkward & I really dnt care for her, I wld take her again. I got a B+. She offers alot of extra credit & I did every single one. Her exams r difficult BUT it's take home LOOK THEM UP IN THE BOOK & take ur time. Her weekly quizzes r too much & her lectures r POINTLESS. I NEVER took notes & I always signed in then left.
I ended up with an A and thought she was cool. She loves class participation. I don't care about her outfits, i care about her teaching and i learned the material. Would take her again.
She is so cute and excited about psychology. She loves class discussions and they are always very interesting. There are quizzes every week and take home tests. If you are into psych, the material is very easy and fun!
One of the easiest classes I have ever had. She is thorough and fun. An easy A if you try and study. Barely had to study, but it helped still. She's enthusiastic, fun and intersting. Take her class! It counts as a Diversity credit too! EASY A!!!
wow. she is an awesome lady with some pretty cool things to say. shes fun. you need to actually want to participate. everyone who is trashing her isnt really cut out to be a student.
I really didn't enjoy her. She definitely plays favorites. weekly quizzes are pretty inconsistent (presentation form) which makes me think she just makes them on the fly. Doesn't provide slides and expects you to copy the notes while going super fast. Projections off her laptop are tiny so if you're in the back, you're just out of luck.
I completely disagree with the person who said "everyone who is trashing her isnt really cut out to be a student." Prof Henley is horribly disorganized, take home tests are totally irrelevant to the material that we cover in class/in the book. I read the chapters and came to class, clearly she is the one not cut out to be a professor...
She definately has her ups and downs. On the downside, disorganized, slow grader, doesn't let u see ur tests after taking them. Positive.. she is a very good prof and is excited about what she teaches, can be helpful at times and she gives extra credit. I think you could teach yourself the whole class with the text. want an easy A? dont take her.
I met with her for help about a test and she explained nothing! She is not helpful. In class the material is easy but the tests are take home and extremely hard! She gave in class quizzes that were easy but the tests were so hard! I would not recommend taking her to anyone!!
She goes through the material really fast but you cant help but like her she is so upbeat and has a really positive attitude, the quizzes are tricky and annoying, but study, go to class, and sit in the front. she also gives a lot of extra credit
Most boring class in America. Quizzes every week. Not very hard at all. Lots of extra credit. Overall, not a bad class, just boring...
material was difficult to understand at times, the class was very interesting. prof. does a great job of explaining/simplifying things effectively. Quizzes once a week;not hard but could be tricky if you don't fully understand info. 3 tests, parts are take home. BUY SNIFFY. stopped taking attendence after the first month but it does count as 10%
She's literally the worst educator at this institution. Her lectures don't reflect the textbook at all, so you need both to do well on exams and pop quizzes which is totally fine except for she gives out exams and quizzes BEFORE covering them in class. Says she'll post powerpoints to D2L but she doesn't. Completely useless.
Class sucks. Group project worth 20% of grade but there are too many people in the group to do so. Quizzes are annoying, exams are beyond difficult (doesn't teach most of material). Never posts powerpoints on d2l and she moves through them so fast you can't even write anyting down. Both times i've talked to her, she has beeen extremely rude.
Teaches really fast. Goes through powerpoint without letting you write down anything. At first I really hated the class. But honestly you have to read ALOT. She gives two part test. Take home and in class. The take homes saved me. Big project that is 25% of grade. Gives alot of extra credita and participation points. I grew to like her She is sweet
She's not a bad professor...she cares about what you have to say and she's open to new ideas/opinions. There are quizzes every week, so if you only have her class once a week (I'm in the two-and-a-half hour one) you really have to go just to take the quiz. Textbook usage is a must because her powerpoints really aren't helpful. Overall, easy A.
She is different, she has a sweet personality that is very light hearted and fun. She made History and Systems interesting which amazed me as it was! You have to work to study but overall an enjoyable class and a nice professor with endearing antics.
Course was long and boring. lecture makes you want to cut your ears off. Several chapters crammed into 1 exam. No quizzes are given. Majority of the class failed the first exam. a mixture of multiple choice and essay questions. Do not take this course with this professor. I will retake with professor Tucci.
A fantastic teacher and a wonderful lady. There is a ton of material and she moves through it very quickly, but she's an easy grader and gives out bonus points like they're candy. All the material's in the powerpoints, you just have to be fast enough to type them. Open, friendly, and really funny in an quirky sitcom-Mom kinda way.
I was surprised to see so many negative reviews. I've really grown to like this professor. Her lectures are enjoyable and she really tries to get the class involved. There are lots of quizzes but they're all relatively easy and the exams are take home. I feel that I've learned a lot from her and I would recommend her for this course.
I genuinely liked her, she has alot to offer as a teacher and she really cares about her class. The material might be a little dry but she goes directly out of the book, it's what you make of it, but she's far from being a bad professor. I agree she might be a little out there but you actually learn something and she makes it a great area 2 to take
She is pretty vague when it comes to instructions, especially for the group project, and tends to be pretty late getting things to you, but if you just show up to class and skim the book it's really easy. She gives TONS of extra credit, so do it!
During class she seems friendly but the second you talk to her, she's a nightmare with an awful attitude. She's extremely rude to her students one on one and won't hesitate to blow you off while you're talking. She gives 14 page exams to take home that are pretty tough and her in class quizzes are poo. Save yourself the stress and don't take her.
This class really isn't a difficult one. If you're not willing to put in NORMAL effort then maybe college isn't for you. You have to read the textbook but she practically gives out extra credit like candy on assignments and exams. To put it simply, show up, pay attention, read the book, pass the class.
Worst professor I've had at WC. Spends entire class going over very obvious examples but barely skims new material. Flies through powerpoints and doesn't post themgive you time to write them down. Take home tests are 80 questions and answers are impossible to find in textbook and are barely discussed in class. Can be short and rude to students
Professor Henley is very nice. She gave one take home exam, one in class exam, and the final was mixed. She goes through the powerpoints very quickly, but all of that information can be found in the book. She does give quizzes about once a week, which was annoying. But overall, I learned a lot in her class.
Professor Henley does not make the classes difficult at all. It is A LOT of information to process. If you read the assigned readings you will be fine. She doesn't give you much time to take notes from powerpoints but her lectures run parallel with the text, so read. Tests are take-home, and she offers extra credit. The quizzes are often but easy.
She's give three take home tests but they are extremely hard and her lectures are long and confuses because you goes off on tangents and makes people feel uncomfortable. She also gives a quiz like once a week on the lecture that she doesn't even teach. The final was easy though and she gave extra credit at the very end so it boosted my grade.
by far one of the worst, inconsiderate, rude, and unhelpful professors I have had in my three years of college. She in no way motivates students nor cares if they obtain the knowledge or do well in the class. Constantly my class mates and I have reached out for help and she replied and I quote "This is a hard course you should drop it"
Boring, long lectures. Goes to whole class period. You HAVE to go to class for credit and also since there is a quiz each week on the chapter. Quizzes are semi-easy, mostly vocabulary based. You NEED the book for the quizzes n exams. Exams are straight forward and similar to quizzes. Final is not cumulative. Easy grader for homework assignments.
Had her for two classes. Quiz every week and take home tests. For 363 she is awesome and really helps clarify confusing topics. Take someone else for 254 because she's just boring. However, she knows what she's talking about and picks a really cheap textbook and using it is important to passing!
she also assigns extra credit, however she will post the assignment on D2L at midnight the night before and gives you basically less then a day to do it. Do not take this professor if you can avoid her. I'm not sure why West Chester even employs her.
She's not a bad teacher herself since she does involve you in the class. However, she's partially deaf so can't hear you too well but will yell at the class if anyone makes any noise. She's also extremely rude. When having problems with my group project, she told me it was unimportant as she received "tons of emails" daily. Also expect quizzes.
the class is really boring. on my phone the whole time for class discussions/ lectures. i had the 3 hour class and was bored the whole time. Text book reading is a MUST for passing quizzes and exams. Quizzes every week in class. if you read the chapters its an easy A
This class was really easy honestly. Just take notes and skim the chapters. The worst part was that it was 3 hours long. Very boring lectures.
Professor Henley is nice and friendly, especially if you participate and want to listen. She is a bit strange however, and acts a bit robotic at times. One time she called out a guy for whispering during her lecture: quite awkward for a three-hour lecture. Quizzes every week, but always E.C.. Just do the work, smile, and get an easy A.
I took her twice (Social psych and History and systems) She is a great professor. If you show up to class and take notes you'll pass with flying colors. She is very passionate about psychology and caring for her students. However, attendance matters and so does participation. She is always eager to hear what students have to say.
PSY362 is already hard and Paul did no make it any easier to understand. She stands at the front of the class and just babbles. Get ready to read and be spoken to like you're stupid if she doesn't agree with you. Only reason this rating isn't lower is because she offered one extra credit opportunity.
she just stands up front and lectures the whole time. she's a little quirky and doesn't upload her power points to d2l which is really annoying especially when she rushes through notes. she says "it's all in the book." she also uses weird abbreviations for her slides that are hard to understand. too many dates and names to remember for large chunks
Had her 3 times, general scatterbrain. Lectures are informative but quick paced. DEMANDS class discussions, will not move on without answer to question. Textbook really not necessary but will pop up at least once. Rubrics are not clear and non sufficient time is given for some assignments. Not the best, but easy to get her rhythm down
I think overall she is a good professor. I personally think she is so cute and nice especially if you get on her good side and participate. The whole class is mainly discussions which I really like. Quiz on every chapter but no tests which makes the class much easier. Easy class overall until final paper... Not very clear & tough grader
Very disorganized. Kept changing due dates and it got to the point where myself and classmates had no idea what was due. She said to get the book and "keep up with readings" but I did not touch the book all semester. She's fair. Annoyingly asks "what does anyone remember from last class" before each class and stares at you until someone speaks up.
She's unique and quirky and truly loves what she teaches. She is a little all over the place, but as long as you study and participate in the class you will do fine. It's not rocket science, but the lectures can get very boring. She basically rambles the entire class, but Paula is really sweet and tells a lot of corny jokes.
The professor is enthusiastic about the class and her students. They were a bit disorganized with assignments and tests, but there were few assignments. They do run class debates at the end of the semester, and as a warning, they are tactless about bringing up unsafe topics like Eugenics and Mental Health.
I really think Skutnick deserves more credit. Her course isn't that fun and her tests are open ended. You just need to do a lot of work as a student such as show up, take notes, read the textbook, and study. She's a little quirky, but she's not inconsiderate. She appreciates students who share their opinions during class. I would take her again.
Good professor, simple and clear instructions given on how to get an A. Show up to class its mandatory, read the text and you'll get an A on every quiz it is straight from the book and slides. Quizzes once a week or every other week, as well as, a one page paper due. Easy A if you give effort
Easy professor, and it is pretty simple to get an A if you do the required work. She is extremely enthusiastic although she is extremely disorganized. She does not upload assignments until the last minute which is an extreme pet peeve of mine. Although not a hard course, it can get annoying though when she does not put the effort in.
Scatter brain, disorganized, but easy A. Gives an insane amount of extra credit. She moves quickly and does not upload anything to D2L. Go to class, study, and do all the extra credit. She says to read the textbook, but I never did and was just fine.
I was reading the other reviews and I don't know who these people are talking about. I hated this class and it was pretty hard. There's a quiz at least once a week and alllllll she does is lecture the whole class. It's so boring. The papers are really easy but she's a scatterbrain and nothing makes sense. Don't take this class unless you have to.
Dr. Skutnick is quite the rarity. Her personality is hilarious and she can be super down to earth. She gives quizzes about once or twice a week depending on how quickly you move through the material (sometimes, very fast). There is no final, but there is an EASY "group" project during the finals period. Would definitely take again, she is great.
At first i didnt really care for Professor Skutnick but over time she really grew on me. She does her best to understand students and doesnt mind helping whenever she can. Although at times she can be hard to figure out and understand. She is still a good person. I wouldnt take her class again but im appreciative of all she did for me.
She is quite rude sometimes and contridicts herself and whats in the book, although she wrote the book used. If you dont mind reading this class will be okay, since a majority of it is reading and you doing your own outside work. You arent graded on only a few quizzes and some reflection papers so there isnt a lot of room for error.
Professor Skutnick is very nice and tries to be engaging but her disorganized personality overlaps to the course and she ends up wasting a lot of time. She gives a quiz every week (sometimes two a week) and they started out easy but the quizes get harder and harder. This is easily my least favorite class. You have to read 1-2 chapters a week.
She's all-over-the-place, lectures (fast) the whole class, and is uncooperative with students. She won't go back a slide for you, she will waste MINUTES waiting for someone to answer a question (if no one answers her she just stands there completely silent!!!) and gives quizzes every week. The final is a group project (aka, a joke). Easy A but NO
Professor Skutnick is OK... She's always in a rush but as long as you read the textbook chapters/show up to class you'll be prepared for the quizzes (the quizzes, 3-4 papers, and debate project are the only things you're graded on)! The class is kind of a joke.
This class wasn't bad but definitely one of the worst i have taken at wcu. She is very disorganized when it comes to grading and projects. only like 5 papers for the semester and one group project. the class could basically be taken online if it werent for the in class quizzes
Prof. Skutnick is spunky and very down to earth. She lectures for the entire length of class and pulls the material straight from the textbook. Ive taken her for 3 classes and would recommend her!! She is a bit disorganized but if you care about your studies, the classes she teaches are Easy As! (In my opinion)
Genuinely a compassionate professor who loves what she does. Very quirky which makes you feel more comfy ultimately. Very understanding.. she is a psychologist so that definitely has a role. Down to earth and openly wants to get to know you. Class exercises make it interesting and help a lot. Lots of quizzes but easy if you glimpse at the textbook
You need the textbook. She does not post slides on D2l. She contradicts herself constantly. Quizzes every week, sometimes twice a week. You'll have to read because she doesn't mention things in class that were in the book. You do write papers but they are so easy and save your grade. One final project but it is so easy and a joke tbh.
Probably the worst professor I've had at West Chester. Lectures are very hard to get through, her syllabus makes no sense and shes extremely scatterbrained. Also, if you don't participate in class she will stand there at the front of the room until someone says something. Avoid her at all costs and save yourself the struggle.
This class was a nightmare. It was a 7-week course so it's understandable that it would be fast-paced. This was just plain unorganized and pretty chaotic, especially the final week. She wasted so much time. We were behind every week and she had to keep changing dates and assignments. 15% of our grade was determined in the last 5 minutes of class.
I loved Professor Skutnick! She definitely really cares about her students and wants you to pass. As long as you attend and read the book, youll be fine.
She's fun, interesting, and quirky. Pulls material straight from textbook. Lectures the whole class, is engaging and overall a nice lady. One of the better psychology professors I've had.
Prof. Skutnick is the most disorganized professor I've ever had. She is constantly changing the schedule and her lectures are all over the place. Asks what you remember from last class at the beginning of every class and will sit in silence for 10 minutes until someone answers. Essay parts of tests are ridiculously long. DO NOT TAKE HER
350 characters is not enough to express how annoyed I am with Dr. Skutnick. She is scatterbrained, has no sense of time, unclear class directions, rude. We were learning material DURING OUR FINALS PERIOD. Our last test was due 5 days before our actual final (THAT HAD TWO PARTS). Save yourself the frustration and don't take her. You will not enjoy.
Not sure why there's mean comments on here, Dr. Skutnick is delightful and her class is never too stressful. Like all classes there is a learning curve to getting the right info out of her lectures but I loved her, though you will have to participate and show up.
She is one of the most disorganized profs Ive had. She wastes so much class time on group work that isnt even graded and quizzes every class. Half way through semester we are weeks behind. She lectured the entire 3 hour class every class and somehow still managed to stay behind. Doesnt utilize D2L properly. Would absolutely not take again.
She is so scattered even if she knows what she is talking about. She expects a discussion to take over the whole class but will plan a long lecture that is never finished. Assignments are given with little notice. Class is full of rushed content and she starts class after a break with half the class present. She makes a 3-hour class go by slowly.
Extremely disorganized. Sometimes hypocritical. Does not utilize D2L properly. She does take attendance. She wants lots of discussions and won't move on until someone talks. A good class topic, but the layout and teaching style were poor. the textbook was "required"
Skutnick is very unorganized and doesn't do well at explaining things. She sometimes gives good examples in class, but the textbook is more informational. She isn't very flexible and doesn't have much consideration for missing class.
Prof. Skutnick is very nice! Classes are purely lecture and discussion based. Quizzes weekly/biweekly, not to difficult either, and she offers extra credit. Book is needed!
I've never taken a more disorganized class. She doesn't follow her schedule and doesn't understand how to use D2l. It is all discussion based, attendence required. She says you need a textbook and workbook. Do not buy it. You will never use it.
She is such a sweet and quirky woman, who does want everyone to succeed. Don't take PSY390 unless you actually want to go into therapy or counseling. The class is solely based on participation and opinions, I felt like she didn't lecture/teach half of the time. First 3 Quizzes started out in person then the rest online. Don't buy the student manual
This class should not have been as difficult as she made it. She is nit-picky about everything and does not assign homework or extra credit. Our grades were determined by our exams. She lectures on and on and on and the lectures don't go anywhere. She also argues with students who have differing viewpoints other than hers. I do not recommend her.
If she comes out of retirement DO NOT take her. She does not care about her students at all. Takes days to answer emails as well as does not answer questions. Had to contact the university because she was going against policy and did not care. Literally wrote "and?" on my exam even though I fully answered the question. DO NOT TAKE.
