Very good teacher. But she is hard. If you really want to learn law then I recommend you take her. If you want an easy A, she's the wrong teacher to chose.
Do your homework and you'll be ok.
This lady is terribly hard. She intimidates you when you enter the class. You really have to work and read the book for her class. Don't take her unless you have an extra hour per day to read the book.
strict, and tough
maybe she knows laws but she cannot explain anything or don't want to.
I took 18 credits the same semester. I got all As in my other classes. Got a difficult B+, and i have never studied so much for a class than this class. She's intimidating, but not mean. She's quite nice, but not easy. Very difficult grading.
She was pretty nice to us, helpful although reading the book in her class makes all the difference. TIP: Look at exceptions in the book not the rule this will usualy be what she will use to determine an answer and write a lot.
the exams are in essay format. she is a tough grader. dont take her.
This professor is a good teacher BUT SHE IS A VERY UNFAIR GRADER! I worked hard to get a B+ in the class for A- or A style of work. She is fine as a teacher, just very tough when it comes to marking the tests. No point in taking a professor who kills GPA
worst teacher that i ever had
NOT AN EASY A! Do not take this class with this professor simply because you can take someone else and do better. She marks really strictly so chances of getting an A are slim to none. But as a teacher she's good, still find a better prof for Law 1101.
i got an A in her class but i still think she cannot teach. I don't know what she's doing at school.
Don't beleive those earlier comments. If you're interested in the subject and willing to do some work the class will be very rewarding. AND: she is a good teacher, clear and helpful..if a person has learning disabilities a teacher cannot help it.
Well listen if your there to love the teacher than take her but you WILL see. If you make one tiny mistake thats 5 points of ur exam right there. She teaches GOOD BUT WILL KILL UR GPA! YOU MUST WORK HARD TO GET A DECENT GRADE! TAKE GLASSMAN FOR AN EASY A!
If you're in school to learn, take Prof. W. And pay the extra money for her supplement -- if you learn what's in it, you will absolutely earn your A. Keep up with the homework and readings and she'll fill in the blanks. Good teacher.
not a lot of work, reading is very little, and she explains everything( REALLY WELL) the next class....exams are not badd as long as you have a basic understanding of the concepts.
Very good professor but VERY hard grader.. its sooooo hard to do well on her tests.. and I also definetly recommend buying her supplement - thats essentially what she teaches from and looks for on her tests... NOT an easy A.
If you want an easy A dont take her but if you want to learn i would completely reccomend it. Shes not easy but shes a very good teacher. Her grading is not unfair but she doesnt give points away. I enjoyed the class it was really that bad.
good teacher, but got to study.. not an easy class
Very good professor. However, her exams are hard. If you really want to learn law, then take her.
Hard class, and very hard exams
one of the best professors at Baruch! If u are not lazy & scared and u actually want to learn TAKE WALTER! shes so clear and if u dont understand she will keep explaining it until you do. shes very helpful and caring-keep up w/the readin n u should be fine
really tuff class. U learn a lot coz she teaches well but her test are jez too hard. And she's a hard grader. If u wanna do well in this class u have to PARTICIPATE!!!!! da class is not boring coz u learn some pretty interesting
She very clear and sharp on her lecture. Her tests are hard, but you do learn lots lots. Good preparation for future law classes.
the worst "teacher" I have meet so far in Baruch
This is a hard class. Tests are hard, there's a lot of reading, and you have to participate (or she'll pick on you). The good thing that you'll actually learn something and she's great at explaining things.
She is a good teacher. When she explains the text you undersatnd everything.
she is an extraordinary human being. very smart and knowledgable. Her exams are Hard but very fair.Nothing she doesnt teach appears there.Yes she grades hard I admit. I did Ok in her class. You will learn so much though
The best professor ever. I learned so much in her class and she explained everything so good. She is not hard if you come to every class and do the homework. Also buy the book that she wrote because it is very helpful for the exams.
Her exams are very hard. Unless you plan to study hard do not take her class. It can kill both you and your GPA.
Good teacher, not a lot of work at all! Just read for every class then in class all u do is go over what we read and do the problems then we leave. 2 midterms and a final and the midterms are really just tests.. Easy grader
if you take this class in the summer,it's hard to follow and understand. Nice teacher, tries to explain all aspects of the laws, but tests are hard, and I didn't catch on until the 4th week. When it was too late. Messed up my GPA, thought it would be an easy A. I got a C.
This professor was a pain but I did good and last time I took this class I failed. Homework is annoying but it helps. I did not like the way she called on people to answer the homework questions. If you take her don't come later than her cause she will lock you out and not let you into the class.
She is concise, always explains law concepts with clarity, picks up the right problems to do from the book [similar appear on her two midterms,4 jugment-essays ;P], & is always willing to answer if student has a problem. Prepares well for the dep final. Take her if you want to really learn some law.
You have to do the home assignment and ask questions if something is unclear for you and you will be fine. Do not try to catch it up before exam. Good teacher.
I studied hard for this class and earned a grade of B-. The major part of this class is to participate. The more you participate and raise your hand the better grade you have. You have 2 midterms and 1 final all essay form. The tests are hard so you need to study hard. She gives a lot to read.
I gave up reading for my other classes to make it in this one. Insider tips: buy her supplement book and use it. Exam questions are similar to those assigned in class - easy if you start doing homework from day one + Participate in class. You'll get an A. Great teacher. Loved her glasses & purses.
She is a good professor. Very clear in explaining law concepts. Kind grader. Pay attention in class to the law concepts and you'll be fine. Exams are a little tough but not impossible to get an A
Very good at making law easy to understand. Buy her book and read everything until you understand it perfectly. Include legal terms in answers and participate.
this teacher knows her stuff...she is def easy...just do hwk..participate..alot...and ask questions..she'll answer them
Great professor. Loved the "handbags" examples. KNOWS-her-STUFF. The readings r EASY + all you have to do is the h.w. & you'll do great on the midterms. Use legal terminolgy on them--it helps; Just SHOW that u know the material. She is funny and makes the class go by 2 quick. Fair. I recommend her 100% and id love 2 take another class of hers.
Very clear on what is on the exams. I would not buy her book if you can read the textbook that is required and pay attention in class. However, the book makes it clearer if your english is not that good. She is a tough grader but it is understandable since in law every little detail is crucial. Attendance is not that important to her. Dont be late!
*WARNING* DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IN THE SUMMER!!! Professor Walter is probably easier taken in the regular semesters. She is hard in the summer. Everything is crammed in and she does not review in the summer classes.
She makes the course seem really easy. She is able to clear up everything and answer all your questions. She makes this class really interesting, and I enjoy going to class. She's one of the best professors I have met. The only thing I have problem with is the handbag example she gives. She used it too many times, and it got really boring.
Do not take this class if you don't know anything about law. She expects to make everyone into lawyers. I had no background in Law and this class is killer!!
She is a very nice professors. She could explain really well. However, the readings are difficult and the exams are extremely hard.
She explains the material very clear, but if you consider taking summer class,be prepared to study every day.The pace is very fast and textbook is quiet complicated.Tests are relatively easy, you get partial credit. She's almost always late at least 5 min and let people go early.
very good professor. explains the material really well. her voice sounds like janice from friends [very high pitched & nasal voice], but if you can tolerate that go ahead. there's two midterms. i reccommend getting her book for reference. helped me out a lot. she mainly goes over the problems and cases she assigns, so do them in order to understand
Professor Walter is amazing! Never got bored in her class even once. Nice and sweet, excellent teacher, and cute clothes!
She explains material clearly and she goes over the questions that she assigns. Make sure you prepare for the questions coz she will call on you anytime but not often. I recommend that you buy the reference book written by her because it is very easy to understand and it is like a summary which saves you a lot of time to revise during exam!!!
Expect to do the reading for each session that Prof. Walter assigns for each class if you want to keep up with every law concept. She summarizes the readings and is very helpful in explaining things if you don't understand something. Each class involves case studies and short questions, which is fairly easy. She gave us 1 midterm for this semester.
Her ratings on this site tell shes very easy, but I found her pretty heard. You have to read a lot.
She's a very nice teacher and she really does know her material well. I would say she was one of the best professors I had. LAW in general is pretty hard, but she makes the class interesting. You really need to read the material, that way you can pass the class with a high grade.
Knows her stuff and teaches in a way that makes you understand the material(the textbook will make you want to cry). However, there is A LOT of material and the department final and her midterm are hard. She always let us out early. Probably won't get an A in law (no matter who you take) but at least you'll learn in her class and enjoy it.
Okay, She is not that mean like people say. But you have to work in her class. If you are a studying person, take her. Just do her homework and you will be okay. If you want an easy A, don't take her.I guess people fear her mild military-style.
Very nice professor, but doesn't lecture well at all. I recommend getting the book she wrote; it's why I passed the class! If you ask her questions she will make sure you understand the answers. And she does have a sense of humor and understanding towards students!
She is a great professor that really knows her stuff. Law isn't an easy subject and this isn't an easy class especially since she treats you like a lawyer (she never underestimates you or what you know) . Professor Walter is fair and treats you like an intellectual on an equivolant level. You may not get a perfect A in her class but you'll do surpr
This class is tough but this is the best professor for this class. You wont understand the work when you do the homework, but you will in class. Sucks that its only a midterm and final but gives a lot of partial credit if you clearly explain your reasoning. She does pick you randomly to answer the homework questions but take her, if you want to lea
"That's why there are lawyers who make the big bucks and those that don't" funny prof and very savvy on the material
Excellent professor. Teaches very well, and knows her material. Textbook use is very heavy, so do not fall behind or you'll be in big trouble. Only downside is grading, final grade is 50% midterm/50% final, but hey it's just one of those classes. Clear helpful explanations on her behalf. Would definitely recommend. Made me love the subject of law.
Professor Walter is a nice ladyher voice can get annoying. She explains the cases the best she can, not an easy class but not that hard. However she refuses to give an A so if you have a A average she will give you a B. I had a B average ended up with a C+. she only gives a midterm and a final, which is not good cause you can fail if u fail final.
I recommend this class to anyone majoring in Law. The readings might seem difficult but professor Walter makes the subject easy to understand. Knows what she is talking about and has a good sense of humor too! Just don't show up late.
BEST TEACHER FOR LAW!!!! She was so helpful and so cute. Not that easy, but you definitely learn. Need to use the textbook. Only a midterm and final. The final is cummulative.
She is a great teacher! must read textbook for the hw assignments! This would have helped me in getting a great grade on the midterm. She explains everything with clarity and gives hypothetical examples. Only a midterm and a final(departmental)
her nasal voice reminds me of Janice from "Friends." explain things clearly.keeps the class interesting. fair grader to be honest. BUT SHE NEVER LETS U SPEAK...ALWAYS INTERRUPTS YOU. but shes sweet =)
i took her class last semester. only midterm and final. i studied like crazy and still only got b- :( she does not give out A's easily. my friends took someone else and they got A/A-'s!
Material in class is heavily based on textbook use. She does her best to help us learn the material. She may seem mean and intimidating, but she is a very lenient grader!
really good teacher. def buy her supplement book - i wouldn't have passed without it. it explains everything really simply. she's a tough grader, but its worth it because you learn a lot. but yeah, def buy her book "business contracts law" - paula g. walter
wonderful professor. textbook is extremely useful. she explained cases in details. even she didnot easily give As out, her lecture made me enjoy analyzing case problems.
got a-. take another teacher and get the a. yeah, u do learn but how much will u retain in long term. get the easy grade with some other teacher.
good teacher, but other teachers may be easier when it comes to grading. if you take this class, make sure you buy her book in addition to the textbook. it makes things very clear and easy to understand. 1 midterm (4 questions). 1 final (8 questions). the questions are predictable and she tells you which subjects are going to be on the tests.
If you want to learn law - take her. She is a very smart and tough lady but if you listen carefully to her examples in class and read the book like 3 times - you'll get a good grade. Missing even one class will put you behind a lot! Hard class for the summer session but doable.
good class but kind of tough. definitely buy her supplement book. without it, i got an A. without it, i wouldn't have gotten over a C. the textbook is hard to understand, but her supplement book explains everything so well. "business contracts law" - buy it!
Honestly, the most useful class I've taken at Baruch. This professor is very knowledgeable, and engaging. Feels like a class out of a film, not an easy A. But if you listen in class, and thing logically, it's an easy A-.
attendance is a must. midterm & final. her midterm was for some reason a little more challenging then the final. She emails, and she's always there to help. Take her for an A-
I thought I did not get the grade I deserved for the class. I did well on her midterm and well on the group project and final and still ended up with a B-. Other than that, she is very intelligent and thorough with her lectures. She gives a lot of homework and uses the textbook everyday.
Class attention is a must. She takes attendance every time. She is very nice and her explanation is very clear cut. the text-book is somehow not so good But it is helpful. 1 midterm and 1 department final. If you come to every class, you will do well and get good grade. Take her.
Very clear professor. She may seem very intimidating at first but she is actually pretty engaging. She encourages a healthy learning environment and explains everything. Pay attention, attend class and read the textbook because it is very helpful. The department final would be easy based on what can be learned from class experience.
Had a bad first impression at first but she was actually a great professor. She's clear and never wastes time. The textbook is a bit bland to read which is why I recommend her contracts book it's literally all her lectures so its very easy to read. And we were out at least 15 minutes early every class.
GREAT Professor. Knows her stuff. Fair grader. Will coach you on what to expect for Dept Final. Online Hws. Expects participation. Do it! It helps. Mandatory Attendance. Gets upset at lateness. Interrupts students at times. LOTS of reading, but it HELPS for class. 50% Final, 30% Midterm. 10% online Hw. 10% partc. Got an A. TAKE HER!!
She definitely knows her subject and is always happy to help. Expects A LOT of class participation and rightfully so, you learn easier that way. Always bring your textbook to class. Quizzes are a joke and the tests are easy, as long as you pay attention.
Great professor! She knows her stuff really well. Explains in a crystal clear fashion and makes sure you understand. no presentations, just weekly readings and memorizing. Take her!!
She is a pretty good teacher and teaches very well. She makes things very easy to understand and interesting also. The only downside to her class is that she is a strict grader. She is a harsh grader and won't give you too high of a score. But i learned alot in her class. One midterm, one dept final and read the textbook.she calls on people to read
She really knows her stuff but does not explain well. Sometimes her answers to a question, given at different times, contradict each other. She does not make what she expects on exams clear and takes a lot of points off for a minor mistake. Very strict and unfair grader.
She is very knowledge about the subject and I learned a lot from the class. You will need to participate in class and do online quizes to get a decent grade. However, she is not very clear about what she want on the tests.
Great professor, really nice and very interesting class. Made me like law. If you read the book and do the problems and cases you can well!
Strict grader, often rude to students which I didn't think was that professional. Read the textbook hw assignments, she goes over them in class and calls on random people to participate.
Excellent professor, this is by no means an easy A you obviously have to do the work but she makes sure that you're ready for the final and she is really nice just don't come late and don't act a fool. Take my advice if you want a good professor who teaches you the subject instead of goofs off or makes it hard then take her. P.S read!! trust me
Professor Walter is a fantastic teacher. She is very clear in her explanations during class, and kind and friendly outside of class too. You need to go to every class or you'll get lost quickly. Take good notes and stay on top of the reading. Be prepared to read out loud in class and do the case problems assigned. Not easy but very fair - take her!
Professor Walter is an amazing professor! She explains the subject extremely well, and will take any questions. She looks a little intimidating, but she is very sweet. I really enjoyed her class. She is a very fair grader and prepares you very well for the exams. I highly recommend her !!
She uses the textbook everyday and she always cuts people off before they finish there question. I Wouldn't advise anyone to take her during the summer because if you miss two classes your done for.
She explains the material very clear and throughs all the time examples from real life. Be prepared for every class, read the book and you will be fine. It was a very interesting and useful class. Take this Professor!
One of the best - if not THE best - professors I've ever had. Quirky and funny, and very clear with the material. She knows her stuff and really engages you to learn. I am a Communications major, and I loved this class. She is an amazing professor, I can't recommend her enough. Textbook required, but I got away with minimal reading - just an FYI.
She knows her stuff and wants to make sure you know it too. She is a great teacher who tries really hard to make sure you understand the material. That being said, you still have to put the work in. Do the readings and ESPECIALLY listen closely in class. She goes over everything you need to know for the exams. Overall, a very helpful, good teacher.
She's great! Almost finished with the course and I have a much better understanding and appreciation for law. Just read the textbook and take notes, she's a very fair grader and loves participation. Make sure you listen to her questions before you answer them, she's very precise with her expectations on answers. LOVE HER CLASS!
She's super tough, but she wants you to learn. LOTS of reading and critical thinking. If you want an A, DON'T take her!!!
Intimidating at first, but she is pretty sweet, and if you do the right thing, you shouldn't have an issue. Explains the material very well in a short amount of time. Uses the textbook a lot, so have the assigned questions and cases prepared for every class since she goes up and down the rows for each student to do a question.
I thought she would be a tough professor but she was actually pretty good, the textbook is a major key, make sure you do the cases assigned because there will be similar problems on your midterm and final, DO NOT BE LATE TO CLASS, thats the only time you'll start to see her get upset, all in all she's a good professor and its good to take her
This class is hard for people who cannot write in details. Its solely based on the midterm and final which consist of 90% of your total grade. Take another professor who isn't a hard grader and gives extra credit. My GPA was destroyed by Walter's grading.
Very intimidating professor. If you don't know your material or meet her standards in answering lecture questions, you'll regret it. She makes an example out of incorrect questions. Its b&w with her. The 2 exams make up the majority of grade. She seems to be an easy grader on the midterm but ends up cracking down on the final exam. Ruined my GPA!
Simply an amazing professor. Gives a fair amount of homework but the midterm and final are what matter most. She covers the material extensively in class and does an amazing job explaining everything, so just pay attention and you'll be good. Participation matters. Loved her style as well. TAKE HER!
Professor Walter is absolutely great! She is someone who knows their law. What I like most about her, besides her knowledge, is her sense of humor.
Professor Walter is absolutely great! She is someone who knows their law. What I like most about her, besides her knowledge, is her sense of humor. She could be intimidating- but if you get on her good side, she's very sweet. Her biggest pet peeve is lateness. She makes it her business to be on time-- even though she comes late sometimes..
She is sweet, but she is tough. Clear on what she grades. Two exams with barely any homework. Her midterm mimics the format of the final so she is helpful. Fun class, minimal work, but you will learn.
She's pretty brutal when it comes to grading. Sweet woman but really hard to do well, even if you read the material
Professor Walter is simply awesome! She really knows her stuff, is willing to answer any questions you may have, and keeps things clear. The material is filled with exceptions and irregularities, and Prof. Walter really makes them clear and easy to understand. I studied not to do well on the tests, but to understand and learn the material.
The course was really interesting, but she just expected a little too much out of us in this Macaulay seminar. Multiple papers due on the same day and not automatic As were the roughest parts. She is incredibly smart though and taught the class really well. I did end up with an A, but it was a close call. Still would take again
Professor Walter is a very knowledgable woman, and she knows a lot about just any topic. She explains everything in detail until everyone understands, but she is a tough grader. It was her first time teaching the course, so she was definitely still trying to figure everything out. I would love to take a course with her in the future!
She is a great professor. Explains every detail thoroughly and repeatedly to make sure you understand every thing. She required us to take the actual textbook to class everyday, luckily it is not too heavy. Online hw and textbook hw. But what really matters for your grade is the midterm and the final. The textbook is key to passing this class!!!
if youre let she will rip into you. she will lock the door and not let you in meanwhile she is always 10 mins late. i didnt mind her lectures but her midterms and tests she doesnt even care if you give the right answer. you just need to know your terms but she is such a hard grader and barely gives over a 90. her voice is kind of annoying too
She's one of the best professors here at Baruch in my opinion. She tells you what she expects from the jump. Your textbook and your syllabus is referred to as your bible. Always have it on you; it really helps. Lots of reading and short answer question. Midterm looks exactly like the Finals. Always use legal terms on both exams
Honestly if you pay attention to how she words answers to the problems in class and do the same thing on the midterm and final, it's an easy B if you're mediocre and following along. Grading is clear, textbook is a must, makes you participate. Overall Solid Professor.
Sometimes her lecture difficult to understand. Though she repeat her lecture, legal terms are not clear in case of real legal cases.
This is a class you need to take seriously. One midterm and a final. Tests are cumulative so keep notes. Make sure to do case briefs and problems she gives.
okay experience. she is a tough one, and will call you out if your answer is wrong. she does make you feel dumb at times, and she doesn't tolerate lateness, meanwhile she is late everyday. I did learn from the course, so that is good. make sure you participate because she does actually count it in the grade. midterm, final and participation count!
Despite that the class was a large lecture-style class, she demands participation. She is a TOUGH grader on the exams, know all legal terms! You must read ALL of the material before class or she WILL know, and she will call you out. Also - she does not allow students to enter that arrive more than a few minutes late. Pros: she knows her stuff.
not an easy class. lectures are slow. not sure how to make notes. 35% of the grade is midterm, 50% of the grade is final, 15 % - participation and mindtap online assignments. essay format exams. be ready to work hard
Professor Walter goes through homework problems, pay attention to those and you'll do fine on the midterms and final. You don't really need to read the textbook, just understand the concepts. She's nice, but she usually comes late and will call you out if you arrive later than her. If you want to leave a good impression, you need to participate.
Don't take her for IDC 4001H, she doesn't give A's easily. Super boring
This seminar is focused on health law. Three 5-7 page papers. One group project: 10 minute presentation with 4 group mates plus a 10-15 page paper. A couple short blog posts. Weekly readings consisting of court cases, NY times, and wall street journal articles. Prof Walter is very knowledgable, you will learn a lot, just be ready to work hard.
Very rude professor. When I took this professor in Spring '18, I was battling a very serious disease. I missed class for two weeks because of such. I was in the hospital, quite literally fighting for my life. When I was discharged I saw an email from her, quite literally harassing. In her email she cc'd my classmates and the ITF, to embarrass me. OZ
I would not recommend her for IDC 4001H. The topic (healthcare law) is interesting, but there was an unnecessary amount of work. I have taken IDC's in the past that were a lot of work, but this did not even approach that. Furthermore, she grades the papers very harshly.
Avoid her.
Take this class seriously and read the textbook. The key to doing well is showing up to the lectures and taking good notes on what she says AND what the book says. Ask questions, do the homework problems and the case briefs. Study. She will not baby you but it is a class worth taking if you want to learn. You will leave with a lot of knowledge.
This is not an easy A class. Never thought I'd receive such a low grade in this class. Graded on a midterm and a final. After grading my class's midterm, she admitted that the highest grade was a 90 and that the majority of the class scored in the 70s. She's not bad, but I'm sure you'll find another professor who gives better lectures overall.
You need to study a lot for this class in order to succeed. She will not be on top of you and will often call out people so read what you have to read. Definitely not an easy A or B tbh, gotta work for a good grade
We paid for Cengage just to get assigned 2 things on there for the entire semester. Gave everyone the same grades on the writing assignments with very superficial feedback. Showed up on Zoom 5 mins late every single day until the last month of the semester. exams have three questions but be ready to write as a lawyer otherwise she will fail you.
Pr. Walter is an unfair grader! Dont take her for LAW1011!
This class is very challenging. You need to actually study and learn the law. Participate so she knows you exist, and use legal terms on the two exams, and short written assignments because she's a tough grader. The exams are not mc but they are similar to the problems in class, so study that too!
She's a harsh grader and never answers her emails. I don't know how her rating is so high on here she was absolutely terrible. I don't think anyone in the class passed the class with an A. If there is another section open take it but DO NOT TAKE HER! SHE WILL FAIL YOU AND BRING YOUR GPA DOWN!
Paid for Cengage, but she only assigned 4 homework. She is late for class for 5 mins everyday. hard grader also!
Professor Walter was very kind and educated in her field. She did not always remind us of what was on the syllabus or due soon. A bit confusing with technology I think she is still getting the hand of online learning. So many readings but I barely did them. She wasnt a harsh grader with the papers though. The readings/papers were a bit much.
All the bad comments are true. But you just cant be a lazy student and take this Professor. If you do all the work she assigns youll do fine. There is a lot of homework and you have to read a lot. The work is difficult but you just have to study and work hard. This is a difficult class if you dont do the work.
Professor Walter is very smart on this subject but was not a great online instructor. Often struggled with tech and always showed up late. The textbook was bought for no reason and was received mid-way thru the semester. Can be sometimes rude. Super strict grader and must have it her way. No shortcuts. Heavy reading as well.
Horrible absolutely ridiculous professor
Shes very old school.. meaning class consists of of: her speaking, you listening. you dont get a fair chance to speak in her class, she often cuts you off and doesnt let you ask a full question without interrupting. she knows her stuff but she doesnt let anyone get their points across.
Fantastic! Read ahead of time, come to class prepared and participate. No quizzes just exams with a few assignments. The exams were questions about cases and you had to identify which kinds of issues they were. She means business. Don't take her if you aren't serious or don't want to do the work.
Try to get high grades on her 3 writing assignments. These assignments are worth more than your midterm. It will be hard though because when you think you have identified the legal issue, she probably thinks you haven't. She tries to give feedback, but you can't read her handwriting. Even if you address her critiques, you still won't get 100.
She yaps the entire lesson, only 3 hw assignments that are worth 30% of your grade. For some reason her midterm is closed book with no curve even though the final is open book. I'd say avoid as there are way better options for law 1101
Professor Walter is extremely nice, so don't hesitate to communicate with her through email, she's always understanding. Make sure you come to class and participate. She remembers everyone and knows whether you participated or not. Harsh grader and you have to attend her lectures to do good on the midterm and final.
She is late every class and the class is just overall really boring. She can sometimes be funny but that doesn't take away from the fact that's she thinks everyone in the class is already a lawyer. The lectures are just her cold calling on people to answer questions. She is very old school and wants you to read and memorize material before class.
I actually really loved the class. Prof had a lecture-style class and at the end would cold call to go over homework problems. 3 writing assignments that were graded harshly, 1 midterm & final. She was always late to class for someone who wouldn't let us in if we were late. Some stuff can be confusing but if you take notes and listen, you're fine.
Always late to class but would not let students who were late in. Graded on 3 writing assignments plus midterm and final so make sure you pay attention to dates. Has an attitude in the mornings and expects everyone to have gone over the topic before class.
Honestly do not take her. She only grades based on 3 things and its worth all your grade. If you do not get the topics at all you're screwed the rest of the semester. She dose not explain things, and is passive aggressive when you ask her anything. Also is is always late, meanwhile she expects the students to be punctual.
Honestly wouldn't recommend. Even though she's a great professor and I found her lectures very interesting, she's way too tough on grading. I don't know anyone who got above a B on any HW or Exam. She also grades really messy and unorganized on paper so you can't read her handwriting or even understand where you got points off.
Bro took points off because I didn't address her name correctly on a paper. Avoid her!
Professor Walter's class is rigorous but rewarding. The lectures can be dry, but coming prepared and participating is key. The writing assignments are tough but doable with effort. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for practice quizzes and study prep.
Prof Walter's an okay professor, her lectures are engaging, but her grading is extremely harsh and slow to provide feedback on assignments. She also lacks empathy, which made the experience even more frustrating during finals. I honestly wouldn't recommend her.
She expects you to actually be a lawyer. There are three writing assignments (10% each), one mindtap/partcipation grade (10%), midterm (25%), and final (35%). I have attended her office hours and emailed constantly (she is available), but she talks ambiguously and expects you to figure it out on your own. do not take her.
Has a very confusing way of explaining things, does not give any extra credit, cuts you off while you speak. DO NOT TAKE this professor, absolute nightmare and it feels like shes doing a terrible job to spite the students
She is an absolutely terrible professor. Extremely hard to keep up with her when she doesn't display what she's talking about on the screen and just yaps. If you come in late, she will lock you out and not let you in and when she does, you're put on blast in front of the whole classroom, mind you, she is late ALL THE TIME.
very rude and disrespectful. would not recommend, do not take this class.
You have to be specific on the writing assignments or you will lose a lot of points. For midterms you also should be specific but somehow she sometimes grades lenient if most people do bad. Mindtap assignments can be cheated on, and regarding participation she kind of just yaps a lot and she isn't really considerate so good luck with that.
The class itself isn't that hard. The content is easy to understand if you pay attention and do the practice problems, but the problem is her grading. The class average on the midterm was a 70 (and the final she says tends to be worse), and she doesn't grade on a class curve, which is how most people end up with a B/B- or lower.
worst professor of all time. if you want a high GPA do not take her trust me she ain't fair with the grading at all
do not take her
horrible professor, just horrible.
worst law professor for sure do not take her
expects you to be a lawyer and will bring down your gpa
if you have a choice to take another professor besides her then DO IT. if you take her all I gotta say is goodluck
Avoid her at all costs.
Worst professor at Baruch for sure. Do not take her.
whatever you do, do not take her. Please trust me she is the worst.
She is the most unfair grader in all of Baruch. She will bring down your GPA.
Truly a terrible Professor. That's all that has to be said.
Read all of the bad comments because all of them are true. She is a terrible professor.
350 word limit so ill keep it short. DONT. FIND SOMEONE ELSE. 3 Homework assignments 60 dollar cost. NO NOTES FOR MIDTERM (Even thought most professors did). GRADES LIKE YOU ARE A LAWYER. So if your not WALK AWAY. CAME LATE TO THE FINAL. ZERO CURVE. An absolute scumbag professor avoid at ALL costs. Zero clue why school keeps her.
she isn't bad just don't be late to class cause sometimes she doesn't lets students come in if they're late, all her lecture are straight forward and take notes
