Sister Kirkham expects a lot from her students, but she also puts a lot into the material so it makes you want to work hard. There is a good deal of writing in this class, which makes sense since it is an English class. I used to hate English - not anymore. But you will work for it!

Hardest class ever, but worth it. I think I learned more in this English class than in other classes put together. She makes you work for it, for sure, but she works hard for your success if that's what matters to you (but she's also ok if you want to fail as long as you fail forward). I see life, grammar, and English completely different now.

By taking this class, I know my grammar and writing skills have drastically improved. She has opened my perspective about life in general. She has an inspirational story and motivates her students to reach their potential. For any one who feels Incompetent in English, this class will prepare you and fill in the gaps of education you once lacked. :)

Sister Kirkham is a total boss, she honestly makes English fun. She's nothing like the normal mundane English Teacher who makes you read and write reports. The class is very interactive, though she will call on you even if you don't want her to. Homework and class schedule are always present and known so you don't have to worry about surprise work.

Honestly, the best class I took this semester! For homework each week she has students do Discussion Boards, a paper, and a grammar quiz. The first half of the semester, you are writing papers on personal experiences. It takes time, but she is willing to help and honestly cares how much her students learn. 100,000% recommend taking her class!

Sister Kirkham herself said this is the hardest English 106 class, and that there are more than twice the amount of essays given than in any other English 106 class. Had I known there was other courses with less work I would've chosen those. Regardless the extra work will truly will change your life in ways other courses can't.

I wasn't the best student in the class, but still, that class was an amazing class to be in. We had weekly discussion boards, and project. On top of that, you needed to be in class to do a journal that could usually be done in the beginning of class, with a grammar book. Don't be stressed, but don't take the class carelessly either. I loved the professor but not the work until we reached the last week of class and sister Kirkham addressed the amount of work that we did. She said that she knew that we did a lot of work but that was only because she knew that we could handle it and rise to the occasion and that changed my outlook on the class.

Sister Kirkham is an exceptional professor who is one of the few teachers I've seen that actually does deserve a pay raise. The class is not the easiest but it's not the hardest. You're going to write essays but that of the class so... that's obvious. Actively participate it will not only help with your grade but you will get more out of the class.

She is one of the first professors Ive had that actually took time to learn my name. I was impressed by her ability to create discussions even through zoom. She is what I call a Master Teacher. My favorite professor this semester, period. Professor Kirkham deeply cares for each student. By the first week, she knew everyone's names. I felt seen, heard, respected, and motivated. This course changed me. "When there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you." -African Proverb

The work load for this class was heavier; however, Sister Kirkham is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Her classes were captivating and the lessons always had reasons behind them. Every assignment was there to help you learn something new, and she graded extremely fair. I would highly recommend taking her class.

Professor Kirkham is an amazing teacher who genuinely cares about her students. The class can be challenging, but with her support and resources like the grammar lab and Unstuckstudy, I was able to learn a lot and improve my writing skills. Definitely take her class if you can.

Sister Kirkham was an amazing teacher, and I learned so much from her and the class. My recommendation would be not to waste money on the textbook even though she says to get it, I didn't barely use it at all and could've passed the class without it. You get out of this class what you put into it.

Sister Kirkham is one of the best teaches I have ever had. The work in her class is a lot but she helps you through it.The way she communicates is captivating. Not only have I learned a lot of helpful English, I learned so many life skills in her class; the way she engages the class makes it easy to make friends as well.
