She is a really good teacher. she's really enthusiastic about the work and she always has something interesting to say. You just have to do the readings (which are really easy) and all the work, and participate in class. it's a really easy class overall.

Oke is a cool teacher. Decent amount of work, very fun classes. Most of the conversations in class stray off the topics. Raise your hand and do the homeworks. Make sure you review and really DO the papers.

She's alright. I got B's and such on her essay, was absent 4 to 5 times, didn't do one 5 page paper, still got a A- in class. A bit moody, but learn to be nice to her. Participate in class a lot, even if you don't know the answer. Just keep your hand raised!! Basically just do what she says and don't give back attitude.

Great professor loved her classes. Group discussions made the classes definitely interesting. We hardly used the text book, waste of money but on a positive note loved replacement materials. Four major papers she works with you if you ask. Highly recommend.

Loves to talk about herself, and can have very biased opinions which can be annoying. Very strict in how she likes her essays organized, but do-able. Definitely favors those who participate, most class sizes are very small so participation is a MUST! i recomend if you are not shy, she picks on those

She has intense mood swings, and i mean INTENSE. she has an intimidating stare and has favorites. does not give As and she is kinda of weird, you'll realize when she talks about her self. Many people worked really hard and ended up getting a B minus or C plus

I think she is an amazing Professor. Be an excellent listener in her class and you should have no problems. She has a great sense of humor and you get over her stares. I found her occasional outburst amusing. I would definitely take her again. She definitely kept me awake and it was truly a pleasure being in her class.

Yes she is strict with how she wants her papers but I think she's nice in her own way. I understand that you didn't like rewriting the papers but maybe it's helpful! My third paper in the term ended up getting a D because I misunderstood the subject. But she's letting me rewrite it, which is definitely nice of her! I think u guys r being too harsh.

Professor Oke is interesting, hilarious, and caring. Yes she is demanding, but you are in college aren't you? Professors are there to challenge you not hold your hand.The material was always interesting and she will give you a fair grade if you TRY, turn in your work on time and not BS through your papers.She hates that. Honestly she is not bad at all, she's extremely intriguing and always has engaging class discussions, she will appear tough at first but she will ease up. Just do all your essays and short responses and you'll be fine, she even allows rewrites and extends deadlines as well. She's very fun and a great teacher, I highly recommend

Professor Paulette Oke was amazing. She may come off as tough but she is an amazing Professor. took her for Spring 2012-got an A- just be on time and participate. The class isn't boring so staying awake and involved shouldn't be hard.and if she blesses you with extra credit, which is rare, TAKE IT!

Best professor! Idk why everyone's writing bad things she's so cool and very easy class. She really wants you to do good and will help you. Love her! People who complain are the ones who don't show up or sleep in her class. She doesn't like that at all. I took professor Oke's class this past fall and honestly if you're not ready to work as soon as class starts then don't take her class. She's funny but mean at the same time. She does get off topic a lot because she's a talker but all you have to do is get her back on topic. Just do what she asks and you'll surely pass.

She's honestly not a bad teacher. You just have to do what she says and write down everything she says. Even though she may go off topic often, these things we talk about are interesting. But, if you want to be successful in her class, you MUST PARTICIPATE! I CANNOT STRESS THE ENOUGH!

She is honestly a great teacher. She has her own sense of humor. Participation matters a lot, but it does matter in most of other classes too! Don't be afraid to speak out your opinions. She gives feedbacks to get you to write better. You might find her personality disturbing at first, but she is honestly nice and kind hearted.

She was great! Just make sure you are paying attention. You do not have to talk a lot but definitely make it seem like you are engaged.

She is a harsh grader on papers but great on final grades. Her class might seem impossible at first but if you show effort and at least go to every class, you can get an A.

Extremely easy class. Show up and speak up your opinions in class discussions and you'll get an A. Lets you rewrite every paper to get a better score. Very reasonable and understanding if the whole class brings up an issue at once.

she was a very relatable professor. The discussion in her class were very informative and intellectual. She does gives papers to write every two weeks or so but she gives good feedback and lets you rewrite them for a better grade. Honestly all you have to do is participate in her class and show up and you will get a good grade in her class.

Oke is brilliant and discusses subjects that academia shys away from. Revolutionary. About 4 papers, 3 quizzes. Gives feedback and opportunity for rewrite. Her class is interesting and relevant to current political times. Contribute in class, complete assignments and really understand what she says. Simple!

Honestly not that bad. She has no filter so its an acquired taste. Papers every other week and one big research paper at the end. For her class, cut the fluff and get straight to the point. Participate to make things better for yourself. Allows revisions and tells you exactly what to fix. Hates emails. Likes stuff printed out to grade.

Pretty calm class, easy to pass she usually spends most of the class time talking and likes when students participate. Very lenient on due dates, also does not mind if you miss a couple classes just dont over due it. Papers every other 2-3 weeks or so.

PARTICIPATE! she gives good feedback which can definitely improve writing skills. we only have 2 people who got legit A in our class. the others got the A through extra credit. It's a fun class because you can be nasty about the characters without offending the professor. she's chill but strict about the essay. take her class to improve your skill.

honestly shes not bad. class usually starts off by talking about random things and then we eventually get into the papers. one thing thats great about her is that she almost always give extensions or removes papers for the whole class. shell tell you exactly what you did wrong and how to correct it to get a better grade. shes also pretty funny

She actually wasnt that bad at all. The negative reviews here overreacted. Sure she may get grumpy at times but thats only when you dont participate. So try to participate and be productive. The majority of the class is just talking about articles and writing essays. Her feedback is helpful and she is willing to extend deadlines if needed.

Yes she can be moody. But thats if you contribute nothing towards the class and barely show up. Her discussions are extremely engaging and her class is definitely not boring. The syllabus said 10 papers, she gave out 6. She gave us a chance to rewrite all of our essays for a better grade. Despite it being an 8 am class, the discussions were always interesting and never bored me. Even though she has a low rating, she is a great teacher. Just be sure to participate a lot and do the readings before class

Great professor You need to go to class to be on her good side. If you have a habit of not showing up then emailing the professor at the end of the semester, she will not feel bad for your grade. You need to attend class and participate. She only gave 3 papers and one final paper. Allows us to revise and resubmit.

She's not bad truly she can get annoyed when people aren't participating or doing her work. But if you do your work and participate you're fine. There are a good amount of papers but she gives you a good amount of weeks notice so its not like a surprise. she can also be a tough grader at times. But otherwise she's fine not horrible.

She's a really great professor, just vibe with her in class. Grading is spot-on if you stick to the criteria. Wrote like 7-8 papers, got time to finish them. She even shares examples from past classes, so you know what to do in each paragraph. Honestly, not a tough grader.

The professor is pretty funny to say the least, but make sure to show up for class and complete assignments. When it comes to her grading, it's somewhat understandable because if you write pretty well and put in efforts, you deserve a high grade, yet if you don't, you know what grade you could get. All I have to say, don't shoot the messenger.

Professor Oke can be a little moody at times, but only because people don't show up and/or participate. She is actually so sweet and an amazing professor. Best of all, she is flexible with due dates, so there's nothing to stress about. I think there were only five papers, which she gave examples for. You won't regret taking her.

Very chill professor. I took her for 2100 and 2150. Just write decent essays, which she gives you plenty of time to complete. She also shortens her essays to make them manageable. She also lets you out early every class. Her class is super entertaining as well. No exams. Take her!!

Took her 2100 and decided to stick with her 2150 as well, very lenient on deadlines often times allowing us to submit essays+revisions past the deadline, easy pass. To the person commenting about Elon Musk, this is a english class, she encourages class discussion. I believe she is also religious so she might not prefer to teach such topics.

She cares about students opinions. She gives you like three writing assignments and she gives you a lot of time to do it. And she gives you the opportunity to revise your essays and improve your grade. I feel like you can pass this class with an A, you just need to do all your work by the end of the semester and you will get a good grade.

Amazing lectures.

Thought I was doomed at first, but Prof. Oke turned out amazing. She's strict on first drafts but follow her feedback and rewrites will shine—only rewrites count! Much fewer papers than readings, and you pick what to write on. She values growth, not perfection. You'll truly learn critical thinking and analytical skill and earn a good grade.

The professor is incredibly easy to connect with and as long as you participate, you will get a good grade. She values students that show that they read the material so be active and engaged, do ALL of the assignments and listen to her feedback. Her humor can be odd at times but it's nothing too bad all these other reviews are dramatic.
