the man has a thick accent and has many mispronounced and misspelled words. example: perpenticle means perpendicular , gementic means geometric, and perl means parallel. he makes sure the class takes every minute... if he finishes early he will just drag it on and make it last the full time. hard to stay awake in there.
Homework was online, attendance taken daily, full class time always used. If you're decent at math, you should be able to get a decent grade without a lot of outside studying.
He is not a very good prof, very hard to understand and his breath really smells. dont sit in the front. definitely uses all the class time, really annoying. tests arent too bad but you definitely have to study
This guy is so hard to understand. I pretty much taught myself from the book when I could. You have to study a lot for the tests and even if you do ask him for help you still won't understand it. It seems like he doesn't even understand it.
He was kind of hard to understand at first but you get use to it. He's always willing to help you. Greatest math teacher I've ever had!
I love him! At first he is a little understand but he tries! He tries to be funny and he tries as hard as he can pronouncing words correctly. I think that his class is so easy! The tests are simple!! Take him.. at first he's hard to understand but you will get over it!
tests are very hard. there is a big curve, but it is still hard to get an A, because he doesn't explain the material very well. never cancells or lets you out early.
Super nice guy his accent a little hard at first but trust me it will pay off later if you stick with him. He gives you an extra 40 pts if you miss less than 5 classes but doesn't deduct. Plus hes an easy grader he drops all tests or quizes depending which hurts you grade more.
This guy is hilarious. He's very energetic and there are many moments in class that are hilarious. Go out of your way to get this guy.
Likes to challenge Students. Very accommodating and their is a huge curve. Do not drop this professor because you are failing, you'll regret it. I got an A when I should have received a B
Great teacher, explains the reasoning behind what formulas or identities we do in class. Quizzes each friday, not hard. And tests aren't hard. Homework not mandatory!!! answers questions on hmwk in class! Easy class if you ask questions and attend class !!!
Best teacher ever. failed math with a different teacher then took it over again with Pawel and got an A easy. And he is unintentionally funny as hell which makes class great. Take him
There are hilarious days and there are terribly boring days. Doesn't collect homework but always asks for questions. Does many examples in class. Strong accent but hes a nice guy. Quiz every week. only 10 questions. 3 exams only 8 questions. Gives 20 points extra credit if you miss less than 5 days. he takes attendance every day.
He is a good teacher and is very helpful, he wants to help you if you let him. If you don't ask questions he won't help you. So ask!!!! Sometimes he skips steps and it is hard to follow him but he goes through so many examples you will catch on.
He was bad when it came to clarifying and got a lot of the problems wrong
Terrible! He's so hard to understand, has a bad accent, and doesn't clarify. He gets at least 2 problems wrong on a daily basis and the class has to correct his errors.
Great teacher that really loves the subjects that he teaches but is fairly hard to understand because of his Polish accent. Also get his words and numbers confused but doesnt mind corrections. Though if I hadnt already known most of Pre-Calculus i would have probably been lost taking this class. No mandatory homework. 4 tests, 10 quizzes.
THE worst teachers I've experienced at UWW. He certainly knows how to do math but doesn't have the slightest idea as to how to communicate it to the students. He puts his back to the class 90% of the time and "teaches" facing the whiteboard. He'll ruin your GPA before you can even begin to understand his sloppy attempt at speaking english. AVOID!!
Dr. Felcyn had a large problem with his Calc III course: he assigned homework through Mathematica without properly teaching the students how to use it. I spent more time trying to understand that software than trying to understand the actual math for the course. I had to withdraw from it. So, if he mentions the use of Mathematica, abandon ship.
He makes everything harder than it needs to be. He is all over the place with notes. Doesn't respond to emails. He used web assign and would make assignments due that he didn't even teach. Frequently messes up problems during notes which makes learning harder. Test reviews will have way more info and problems on it than actual tests will.
This guy will make for the longest semester you have ever imagined. Just when you thought math couldn't get any worse, here comes Felcyn Pawel to teach you the math you already know, in a much more difficult way. Simple stuff I learned in High School he managed to make more difficult. That's when I would tune him out and just read my old notes.
He treats the whole class as a review. He is hard to understand which makes the class more difficult. Spends much of the class with his back to the class. He is willing to help if you contact him though.
A little hard to understand at the beginning but you get used to it. Very easy class!
SO boring and he is very hard to understand and makes things more confusing than they should be. He takes attendance and has ALL homework assignments online which is horrible because it is hard to stay caught up on the assignments that are very time consuming. Also, he gives quizzes every Thursday but is an easy grader. In conclusion, AVOID HIM.
STAY AWAY! He teaches very differently than what you learn in high school. He is hard to understand and the homework online is nothing near what he "teaches" in class. Quizzes every Thursday, 3 Midterms, and a final. Very friendly and humorous, but not a good teacher.
VERY easy class. Teacher is extremely kind. Homework is given online via WebAssign. Love the class!
DO NOT TAKE HIM. He rambles on about nothing when he could be going over problems to show us how to do it. Also, he never once emailed me back.. just do yourself a favor and don't take him
Felcyn is a very nice man; however, because he is so intelligent he has a hard time conveying his ideas to the class. Although he is a caring teacher, unless you are able to learn straight out of the textbook then I would not recommend him. If you miss 5 or less classes he does give you extra credit, so that's a plus.
He was cool, at times he could be difficult to understand and he got off topic easily. But, basically if you do the majorty of the homework and are decent at tests you will do fine. He always grades on a curve and offers Extra Credit a few times. He wants you to do well.
Very harsh accent and rushes through the text. Quiz every week and tests are hard. Always does examples done in the book for each section. Examples done in class are easy, but homework questions, quiz questions, and test questions are difficult.
After getting used to his heavy polish accent, Pawel became a very good professor. If you've taken algebra 2 with trig in high school or a similar class, then this class will be a fairly easy review. He starts class by asking for questions on homework, which is daily but can always be extended. It is important to come to class and take good notes.
He's a very nice man, but his lectures are hard to follow and confusing and he frequently makes little mistakes. He assigns roughly 6-10 solid hours of assignments and quizzes every week on webassign, whereas they're not only graded but if you don't do them you won't have a clue what's going on. If you do the work (ALL of it), however, you will.
Avoid taking him at all costs. Calc 3 with this guy is a math class from hell, in that his lectures are confusing and mistake-ridden at best. His accent isn't awful, but when coupled with his quick pace AND mistakes, his class is dreadful. Additionally, he assigns insane amounts of Webassign homework that soaks up every bit of spare time you have.
Easy A because of extra credit, and points given for attendance. All homework is on Webassign, and A LOT of homework is assigned. Spent more time on the homework for this class than all of my other classes combined. Mostly had to teach the material for the class to myself.
He's a nice guy but talks in circles. You basically have to teach yourself, and you use webassign, and he tends to push a lot at one time. Also, he is a pretty easy grader, and if you get it all wrong, but atlas tried (on quizzes) he'll still give you an 8 if it looks like you were on the right track.
Do not take his class. I took his Math 141 class, being on the easier side of math, thought I would be fine. But when he does not teach what is on your homework/quizzes/test, you have to basically teach yourself all of the material. I do not suggest this class to anyone who questions their math abilities because he is not a great professor.
He has an accent, but you can still understand him. Sometimes his teaching is unclear, but once you do the homework you understand it. All of his quizzes only have about 2-4 questions and are very short. Only gives 3 exams and a final. Also passes attendance around so show up or get someone to sign you in
Dr. Felcyn is a good person who clearly loves math, but he shouldn't teach Calc 3. He's Polish, but his accent isn't hard to get used to, but his penmanship proves to be hard to decipher. He's very knowledgeable but he can't convey his ideas across as well as you'd hope. He curves tests, which is what saved my grade. Homework is a must and online.
Awesome Professor, I personally loved his class. He is always smiling and VERY happy all of the time. Super easy grader, and will give extensions on every homework assignment. Only downfall is his accent but you will get used to it!
Seriously so nice and funny. Super easy class, he is good a laying out what is expected. If you do your homework and fill out the study guides this class will be a piece of cake.
If you are bad at math, do not take this professor. He goes through things very quickly and does not do a good job at explaining things clearly. His accent can be very hard to understand at times. He is very lazy when it comes to grading. We were not able to see our grades for the entire semester because he said he was "still working on them".
Easy. Fill out the study guides and do the homework and it will be fine. Decent professor. Alot of stupid mathmaticians here if they have trouble with math 141
Pawel is so intelligent that he has a hard time explaining complex mathematical concepts at an understandable level. Tests are way harder than the review, but he is an extremely easy grader and will give you points just for understanding the concept. He gives a HUGE AMOUNT of extra credit points to people who miss 5 or less classes.
he is awful. do not take him. he is from Poland and has a thick accent that is hard to understand.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from Pawel. That is, unless you like reaching out to your professors for help and never getting a response back and realizing on your own that the due dates of homework have changed and he never mentioned it. Also consider the fact that he has a really thick accent and it makes hard to understand lectures.
If you like hearing back from your professors in a timely matter then Pawel just isn't for you. I emailed him about 2 months ago and still have not received a response. If you like having a consistent syllabus or at least knowing about syllabus changes then Pawel just isn't for you. He changed due dates half way through the semester and didn't tell
His accent takes some getting used to. His homework is all on webassign and there is a lot of it. Tests are extremely hard. He extended all my homework on webassign that I haven't done in 2 months 18 assignments.
Take him! Dr. Felcyn is a great math professor! His accent takes some getting used to, but once you get passed it he is great at explaining how to solve each problem. Grade webassign hw, worksheets, tests, and extra credit. Dr. Felcyn is super understanding and helpful. He clearly explains every topic and does not move on until you understand.
Professor Felcyn is a great teacher and is very intelligent. He does have a bit of an accent though (Polish, I believe) and can be a bit difficult to understand at times. Sometimes he makes mistakes but if you correct him he will go over the problem again. Lots of homework but the practice helps a lot. To do well on his tests, use the study guide.
Pros: Gives a week for homework Less than 5 missed classes 30 extra points CONS: Heavy accent (can be hard to understand) All homework is usually webassign which teaches nothing Awful at teaching aspect (boring, every class is just practice problems) REALLY bad with technology (took a week for an email AND voicemail reply) TL;DR: AVOID FOR 143
Pawel is overall a very easy professor to take once you get past his accent. The classes are not mandatory, however, I recommend going to them because all of the problems he does are very similar to the ones on tests, reviews are exact lay outs of what the test is as well. All notes and worksheets are on D2L as well.
Professor Felcyn does not clearly explain the material learned in class. He has a heavy accent with poor English, but that is the least of the problems. He does not teach in a clear or effective way. I learn much more on YouTube or math websites in my dorm room. He builds no personal relationship with students nor does he take attendance.
Pretty standard Algebra class, doesn't respond to email well
SUPER nice man, very passionate about his teaching. Loves feedback and interaction, truly wants to help you learn. Pretty straight forward with material, easy grader. Very flexible. Will allow one missed quiz without penalty. Web-assign homework, always allows extensions. Posts notes online, easy to follow. 10/10 loved this professor
Pawel was very nice and an overall good teacher. He does have an accent but you adjust rather quickly
Pawel is a nice old man. He has an accent but you can get used to it. the only issue is he isn't much help outside the classroom. A solid backup option.
He's nice enough and cares deeply for his profession. However, the understandability of both his accent and teaching style make it hard to comprehend the already rigorous coursework. He genuinely cares for his students but learning in this class was challenging, for me at least.
One of the only professors that I have had that actually cares about you learning the subject. Will go slow if the class needs to. Grades very easily.
Very nice man, but terrible professor. He goes through explanations and problems very fast. Doesn't slow down because he expects everyone to already know the material. If you are good at math then you should be fine. Heavy accent and doesnt give clear answers when you ask a question. But, he does grade pretty easy on tests and quizzes.
He does not explain things at all. Stops halfway through problems and says "i'll leave it for you." How should I learn if we do not see the whole problem and answer? Does not care about his students or their concerns. Worst professor i've ever had. Assigned homework about things we did not learn about yet, because he goes too slow like we are dumb.
One of the best math teachers I have come across and could not have asked for a better math professor this semester. He has an accent you will have to get used to but, that typically only takes a week to get pass. He is a very nice teacher who always has a smile on his face he cares about everyone. Does not give the best lectures but respected!
Professor Felcyn is amazing! Im not a math person so I was a little weary when taking his class but it turned out to be one of the best decisions Ive made this semester. His lectures are long but they get straight to the point. Hes always willing to help or go over things when asked to do so. Overall, I would say he made math easy to learn.
Math is my worst subject but prof felcyn makes the class interesting because he loves math and makes it easier to understand than most professors. He is also very lenient when grading and gives you extra credit at the end of the year for missing less than 5 classes the whole semester. I am so glad I took him!
Very thick polish accent, not helpful, he will get basic math wrong and asks the class to correct. WIll get lost in the middle of a sentence and forget the point. Very sweet, but generally not good in teaching.
I wanted to give him lenience because he did get forced to teach it two weeks before the semester started, but in no way can I do that. He makes no attempt to get to know the students, reads directly from the textbook and even then he will get his examples wrong consistently, and could not for the life of him get dates right for exams and homework.
He has quizzes almost every week with a few group ones. He grades pretty easy on tests and quizzes. Make sure to have friends to grind through the web assign. Anyway he is nice and has good intentions but his slogans are repetitive but he is funny at times. His accent is heavy but it isn't so bad after a few classes.
Worst math professor Ive ever had. He only wrote on the board exactly what was in the book. We received little feedback on homework and tests. He never sent announcements for tests and homework so you have to go to class to get them. Lectures were long and boring and class always ran a few minutes long.
I've never had an A in any math class I have ever taken in my life. Felcyn is an amazing professor and so far the only teacher to ever help me understand math and he actually makes the class interesting. He is a really nice guy too and always seems excited to answer your questions.
It is very homework heavy (even after your final exam) and the homework is very hard/you don't learn it in class. He grades easy on exams though. Quizzes every week, some easy some hard. He doesn't explain things well at all and relies on students' answers during lectures. His accent is heavy and he mumbles. 1/10 recommend taking him.
Probably the worst professor I've had here, DO NOT TAKE. Not a bad guy but he is so bad at teaching it's ridiculous. He will get basic math wrong and just skip the problems he doesn't know how to do. The grading system he uses is incredibly bad, he won't weight anything till finals week so your grade you see is incorrect all semester.
Dr. Felcyn commonly gets bad reviews, but I do not understand why. He is passionate about mathematics and is very caring. Take advantage of office hours, listen carefully, he is not that hard to understand, everybody is just being over dramatic about his Polish accent, and and show up to class. Also, say goodbye to him in Polish, he loves it!
Gives out way too much homework, especially on things he never taught. Very hard to understand and just copies the textbook.
Just not good at all. All you do is practice problems and half the time he doesnt even finish them. Quizzes every Thursday. Just hope you know the information hes teaching while hes teaching it or else youll get lost, the way he teaches is just practice problems and then moves on without really ever explaining it.
professor Felcyn is a goofy guy with passion for math.
Very nice professor. Subject is typically hard for people, but he teaches it well.
Professor Felcyn is a pretty good teacher in my opinion, although most of the material he went through was mostly review for me, he solidified that information I learned before for me. Sure he gives out a lot of homework but that's because they will help you tremendously on the quizzes and tests.
Good man. You dont need to go to classes as long as you do the homework. Hes not the best with lectures or teaching but hes super friendly. He also grades fairly easy.
Pawel is nice guy but can be hard to follow at times. Lectures are not mandatory but they help. There are quizzes every Thursday on the material you covered previously. Homework is designed to be done after lecture. If completed before due date you will receive extra credit. Final is cumulative.
The lessons in class don't match up with the homework and sometimes the quizzes. He often gets problems wrong in class while explaining them. Bad at explaining in depth how to do problems so you have to learn how to do a lot of things on your own. Overall, I would not recommend taking him.
Terrible! Absolutely no communication skills, took him several weeks to respond to emails. Doesn't post anything on the course website canvas. An exam came and passed and never told me never update canvas. Got so bad I had to miss a different class to make up work he didn't mention until I asked about it.
I actually took his class for math 142 and would never take any of his classes ever again. I regularly can't hear or understand him over his accent, not to mention the mask making it worse. plus I never missed an assignment yet he still enters grades and gives me 0% on quizzes. This forces me to email him and make him change it since I did do it.
This is the worst professor Ive ever taken he has no idea how to run an online course and his in person classes are all over the place he should be fired from this University and never teach another person again. He does not respond to emails and the only time you can expect a response is if you go to his office because he doesnt respond to email
Very easy grader and teaches new material pretty good.
Professor Felcyn is a nice guy, but his teaching style was not for me. At times I found him hard to understand, and many times the homework problems didn't line up with the tests/lectures. You do not need to go to class to pass, hardly ever does the material build on itself.
Prof. Felcyn was really nice and passionate about math. However, he seemed to be a bit scatterbrained at times, and he didn't really teach, he just read out of the textbook. You only need to go to class when there is a test, he never takes attendance. The homework rarely lines up with what is going on in class.
He is difficult to understand at first, but you get used to his accent. He's a really nice guy and wants his students to succeed. You don't need to go to class unless there is a test or activity, but being in class does help you understand the material. The textbook, homework, and quizzes are all online.
If you are taking this course over the summer, be ready to study a bit. Graded on 3 quizzes, one homework grade, and 3 exams. The exams take the bulk of your grade weight. Not the most... responsive to emails but overall, a fair grader and often gave points back on exams.
This guy is so difficult to understand. No one in the class right now understands what he is trying to say. The homework is very different from the stuff he shows on the board.
This man will talk forever at the board and he hopes you can understand him. If you miss a class or even if you are in the class good luck with the homework. Most of my class is very frustrated with his teaching. When he gives out activities to work on and you ask him a question he will confuse you even more than you already are. I DON'T RECOMMEND!
This professor is very difficult to understand. Not because of his accent, you get used to that. This professor tries very hard for his students to understand him and he only comes off as more confusing. Half of the time it sounds like he doesn't know what he is talking about and sometimes he even does the work wrong. Attendance isn't mandatory.
He is a very kind man, however his teaching isn't the best.I'd say it is difficult to understand his explanations, so if you struggle with figuring math out on your own, I wouldn't recommend him. We started with canvas quizzes outside of class but mid- semester he made everyone come in to take quizzes because people weren't showing up to class.
He is a very nice person, however it is very difficult to understand him. I would not recommend him if you struggle with math classes in general.
AWFUL. So hard to understand. Doesn't even care or realize the ENTIRE class is lost and confused about what he is trying to teach us. Beware the Quizzes are almost every week and basically only available on the weekend. NEVER take this professor.
You can't understand him, he has never responded to my emails, doesn't understand how to use technology
Not super hard to understand but he simply is not a great teacher. I was in a math support class for math 139 and without that class I would have failed his class. He did not explain things very well I felt. Not a bad guy, just very confusing to listen to and hard to understand.
This is a horrible professor. He had to have one of his students come up and explain to him how to do something and still couldn't understand what HE was supposed to be teaching US. Our last class of the semester he had no idea what he was teaching and HONESTLY had a mental break down and told us this stuff is hard make sure you study for final.
I feel so bad because he is a decent guy but as everyone else has said, he does not know how to teach. He will indeed make you even more confused when you ask for help. He kind of just expects you to understand the garbage that comes out of his mouth. The homework is hard and the way he uses canvas is just strange. He doesn't post daily it's late.
Terrible. Barley can understand him and he doesn't even know what he was teaching. Seems like a decent guy but not good to have as a professor.
He is very hard to understand and does not seem to know what he is teaching or what he is talking about. Not good with technology at all. Never responded to any of the emails I sent him and the way he used canvas was very confusing. Do not take this professor if you already struggle with math in general, he will make it 10x worse.
Pawel Felcyn is a very nice and sweet man that seems passionate about math. However, it is very difficult to understand him most of the time so if you're not good at math, I would suggest another professor. All quizzes and activities were done online through Canvas.
Pawel is pretty hard to understand but after a few weeks you get the hang of it. He is very caring and funny in his own way. Don't expect to learn too much but you will do good on tests. I would take him again just cause he's funny.
Although some of the negative reviews have truth to them, most are overexaggerated and petty. He is clearly passionate about what he teaches and puts effort into his lectures, and the accent quickly becomes understandable. The quizzes/tests are online, and anyone who says 143 is a 5 difficulty has never taken a hard class in their life.
He is a really nice guy and has lots of passion for math. I promise you get used to the accent really fast. This class's content was really hard, but I've heard other people say the same thing about this class with different professors. The tests aren't super challenging, if you pay attention, show up to class, and study you'll be ok.
This professor has an incredibly thick accent and doesn't elaborate on the content he presents to the class. Be prepared for him to start a problem and not explain the steps to how he got there, alongside a very hard-to-understand accent, which makes the content of math even more confusing. Easy grader, quizzes and assignments online, wouldn't take
He is a very nice guy and will open up any old assignment that you request be extended no questions asked. His accent makes it hard for him to communicate his ideas and will leave you very lost on subjects that a youtube video can explain in a minute. His quizzes are take home online and his tests are online but in person, both being very easy.
He is a very nice guy, and you can tell he is passionate and cares about what he teaches. But the problem is you can tell he isn't great with English, and his ideas usually don't come across. The way he writes out and describes new problems and equations is severely over-complicated. I don't struggle with the math but it sucks to see it madesohard.
While he love to teach math, he isnt a good teacher. Does not respond to emails, is quiet and will not help you with assignments.
He seems like a really sweet guy but he can be hard to understand because of his accent. He over explains things very much. He also seems like he doesn't know how to do the work sometimes, like he will ask the students what they think the answer is and they will give him the wrong answer and he still goes with it.
He was very hard to understand. Most of the time, he didnt know what he was doing. We had to correct him multiple times when he was doing lectures. However, he allows extensions on homework and is an easy grader. He's very 50/50.
While the professor seems passionate, his strong accent and unclear explanations can make the content very challenging. Using unstuck ai alongside the free textbook helped me stay on top of the material. Attend class, study diligently, and you may pass.
I would not take this professor personally. For me, this professor did not ever answer my questions, and could never be accessed outside of class. He was really hard to understand as he was quiet and mumbled a lot. I dropped his class as soon as I realized he didn't work for me and luckily moved to Dr.Lampe's class which worked much better for me.
