She knows her statistics, but her accent is way too strong. She talks really fast and is almost completely inaudible. I do not recommend because she is so hard to understand. I teach myself using Wikipedia with my classmates. Easy A although you don't learn.
Mrs. Roy was a wonderful instructor. She is from India and sometimes can be difficult to understand. However, she really knows the material well. She will go over every single step of a problem and if you pay attention you will find that she is an amazing instructor. I suggest taking the time to work one on one with her too if you can.
I am a student who has always struggled with math. I was able to understand and get one on one help and did great in the class. I took it summer term so it was shorter. The homework was alot but enough to learn. She gave study guides and that really helped the class go by easier.
The material is pretty easy if you go to class and do the homework. Tests are easy because beforehand she gives an assignment to do in class which has pretty much everything that will be on the test and will go over it with you. The class is totally do-able. Sometimes, though, she talks really fast and becomes impossible to understand.
Payal is awesome, this class will be an easy A. All you need to do is turn in the work, and be interested in succeding. I had her for 111B as well.
She is a good teacher and very careful for students. she answers and explains a problem until you understand it. otherwise, she talks pretty fast, and sometimes she says wrong words. highly recommended!
Payal is a great teacher. She really cares for her students. She wants you to succeed. She will go over a problem until you get it. She goes group assignments to help prepare for tests and she was super fast with grading. Such a great professor! I am taking her for MTH65 for Spring 09 term!
She was difficult to understand at first, if you asked her to repeat herself, she had no problem, and would even try to pronounce words better. I had no problem getting an A in this class. Do the work and follow her examples on the board and you'll do fine. Don't try and you won't pass. She was very nice and funny. Really cared.
I had Payal for MTH60 as well.. a great transition. As previously, She has an accent but if you're paying attention, it is not difficult to understand. She has the most sincerity i've ever encountered on a teacher for her students. she wants everyone to be comfortable and will not get irritated by questions or re-answering questions. A+ teacher!
Best math teacher on the planet, I swear! Math has never been my subject and I was exceptionally nervous going into algebra, but I haven't had any problems understanding because she is so clear in explaining how to do things and really cares that her students succeed!!!
She was the BEST math teacher I ever had, I NEVER understood math before, and got an A in her class. Has an accent and is a little hard to understand at first, but if you are paying attention, no problem. She is very encouraging and sincere. Such a nice lady. I would take a class with her again in a heart beat! Thanks Payal! :)
I enjoyed Ms. Roy's class, and would definitely take another from her. She was very lenient with grading, and even sat down with us, to individually grade our tests/quizzes and show us what we did wrong. She could be a little hard to understand at times, however she was always willing to take the time to answer any of our questions.
MRS. IS WONDERFUL!!! I cannot stress how fantastic her class is. Yes, she does have a heavy accent, but you get used to it quickly and she is so sweet and bubbly. Evryone in my class wanted to take her the next term. She is absolutely helpful, she helps you understand math. Truly a blessing to PCC math department. A rare gem!!!!
Mrs. Roy knows what she is talking about, but has difficulty understanding what the students are asking. I have to plug my ears in the class because she is talking so loudly. I like the way she breaks down the assignments and that she does questions from the homework in class.
Ms. Roy is the best math teacher I have ever had. She is able to help me to really understand math for the first time. She is very, very sweet and smart. I would take all of my math classes from her is I could.
Mrs. Roy is dedicated to her students succeeding in the class. I don't think she would let anyone fail in her class. She is very straight forward in her teaching methods, and is always very kind and never condescending.
I took Mrs. Roy for College Algebra 111B and now this term for Stat I. I highly recommend taking her, she takes time to be sure that you completely understand the concepts being presented to you. I am also taking her for Stat 244. She is friendly, pleasant, interested in seeing her students succeed and she wears some very awesome outfits!!
She is the best math teacher ever! Very sweet and will not hesitate to help you if have ?s. I am not a Math person until I met Ms. Roy. Took her from MTH60 MTH 111b. I wish she's teaching 243 now, I would have taken her in a heartbeat. Just review the group activity given days prior to her exam day and you are set!
Beware negative comments keep disappearing. Payal is not the perfect professor for everyone. Especially those who struggle with math. Taught myself the subject and passed just fine. I would highly recommend another professor.
Wonderful little Indian woman who teaches the simplest path to success. I took both Math 65 and 95 from her sequentially. She is very forgiving of mistakes and easy on your GPA if she thinks you are doing your part. A bit tricky to understand on occasion, but so is the subject. SHe is a good teacher.
Great teacher! Always makes sure that you understand, I love this teacher and would recommend her to everyone! Wish she was teaching 111b next term:)
She is very helpful and clear, I would suggest her to anyone who doesn't think they can do well in math.
the first week i wasnt sure about her but once i got used to her and the class i think she is the best teacher i have had i understood everything i wish i could have her in 111b now!
AMAZING! I <3 Mrs. Roy she is awesome I took her for 95 and now am taking her 111B. She want to you understand how to do the work she even grades your test in front of you and goes over what you were doing wrong . Mrs. Roy is the best math teacher I have ever had I hope to get her next term too!
At first I was nervous because her accent was hard to understand and I have a difficult time understanding math to begin with. But after the first week I had no problem understanding her. She is very patient and wants everybody to do well. She is the first math teacher to help me fully understand math and be confident in it. Amazing teacher!
I took math 65 in summer, I had a D so I took a W. I'm getting an A with Payal. She has a way of explaining the details that are necessary to succeed. I'm amazed at how much having a good teacher can really affect your grade. I'm bummed because she's not teaching math 95 next term!
Mrs. Roy is a great prof. She gets involved with every student, and truly wants to help you do your best work. She is very friendly and engaging. She grades all worksheets, quizzes and tests in class and give you your grade immediately.
Pay was the BEST math teacher I've ever had. She explains things in a way that makes it easy to understand and she wants you to learn. She offers extra credit as well. I wish my Math 95 prof. was as good. Highly recommeded.
Seriously the best math teacher I have ever had. I will be continuing any further Math classes with her as long as she teaches them. Math used to be frustrating, difficult and my least favorite class. Now I actually look forward to Math class. She is clear, concise, repetitious, grades in class to go over weaknesses, great sense of humor and more!
One of my very favorite teachers! I loved Payal. She helped me so much with brushing up on my math. It had been quite a few years and I forgot some of the rules of math, buth she helped me in remembering them, and it came right back. It made math so much fun for me, and I hope so much I can take her for Math 65 and more! Thank you so much!!!
I love Payal! I was worried that her accent was going to be hard to get used to but she has such an amazing approach to math! I waited 2 terms to take another class with her and sadly I had to take MTH 95 with another teacher and I did get an A but it was not the same. I am so so happy she is teaching math 111!!!!
Payal is highly committed to each student's learning and success. She tries very hard to make the material less intimidating and easy to understand. My favorite aspect is that she grades your test in front of you when you turn it in, and gives you a chance to explain your work for partial credit on wrong answers, as well as talks you through it
Payal is a great teacher. She goes over prior stuff to remind the class the class. nothing to borring. She gives easy ways to make it through a really hard text book. The text book makes it harder than it needs to be and Payal is great at making it easy to see and understand.
She is the best math teacher I ever had. I am so sad that she will not teach my next level but I hope to get her again for mth 111. She is awesome!!!
Payal is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Payal is very interested in your success;that does not mean you get away without working hard.Payal is very clear about explaining the formulas and even simple ways to understand the process. I like that she made herself available to help if you were having a problem
Mrs Roy is a great teacher. She always tries that everyone understand the concepts. She has a great sense of humor. Her accent sometimes is hard to follow her lecture, but you used to it quickly. If you follow through, she'll very generous with her grade. Highly recommended
She is the most understanding and reasonable instructor I have ever had! As long as you do your homework and work hard, she grades not on if you got the answer correct but more on if you understand the concepts. She does group activities which is helpful for you to interact with other students and makes class more interesting. She is a awesome!
Payal is an excellent teacher. Very helpful and understanding. Work hard, go to every class, and you will be sure to get an A.
Great teacher like most math classes, subject is pretty hard. also does practice exams the week before whcih helps a LOT! i got an A!
Payal is an excellent teacher. She was never late and never missed. That's a lot more than I can say for other teachers at PCC. She is also more than willing to go the extra mile to help you understand a topic. She likes to yell, but its friendly yelling! I had no trouble hearing her in class. I'd recommend!
Shes a brilliant teacher, I suck at math, fialed this very class three times and she got me through it and I never felt like there was a concept I didnt understand. GREAT math teacher. Her sense of humor kept me awake for the 7:30 am class too.
Payal is an AMAZING teacher. She makes the material super easy to understand, and she is always willing to help you.
She's an excellent teacher. I was a little nervous about previous comments about her accent, but I didn't have any problems understanding her. I think she speaks quite clearly. She gives you study guides that are actually applicable to the exams. I wish I would have taken her for MTH111, because I would have gotten an A instead of B.
Mrs. Roy is awesome! She makes sure she doesn't go too fast, and makes sure that everyone understands the section before she moves on. There is a lot of homework, but at the beginning of every class there is time to ask any questions you had about the homework. She is super nice, and super funny! Would definitely recommend her!
Failed this class 2ce before (yrs ago). Accent did not interfere at all. Very nice lady, very smart and very invested in students. I learned a lot and feel well prepared for 111. Tests were on covered material without using questions that are 10x harder than reviewed material. Almost didn't take due to accent but she's very clear. Highly recommend
Payal, is an amazing instructor who is very knowledgeable in math. I definitely recommend her if you have struggled in math before, and your looking for someone who is considerate, fair, cares for the success of her students. Attend class regularly; do the homework; and you will do great:) Her accent is not bad they make it seem...
Best math teacher I have ever had. This class is a hard one but she makes it easy to understand. She is not strict with her grading as long as you do the work and come to class. I would highly recommend her to anyone especially if you have a hard time in math.
Basically makes it impossible not to get an A. Math is pretty easy for me and most of this level math was stuff I'd done back in high school. If I was actually trying to learn it for the first time I might not have liked Payal's teaching. It was great for me cause I just needed an A. She's really sweet and funny. Rock Creek campus is awful.
There's no reason that you cannot pass her class. Her lectures are clear and she grades so easy. She collects late homework until the last day of class and even offers extra credit. Stay on top of your assignments and you'll be ahead of the game.
Professor Roy is an amazing teacher! I have struggled with MTH 95 but when i took her for my MTH 111 she made me reconsider taking further math classes. She cares for the success of her students. I like the fact that she grades the exams in front of you on a one on one basis and explains what your mistake was and how you can understand the solution
By far the best math teacher I will ever take... she made math easy! I had previously taken this class and failed it miserably, and I got an A in her class. She makes things extremely clear, and it's almost as if you can't help but be prepared for the tests if you show up. Would recommend this to anyone who struggles with math!
The beginning of the class she does not allow calculators. I love this because you can correct any gaps or misunderstandings about math. She uses the book a lot but I think the college is updating the book for fall2015. She grades quizzes and tests same day so you can learn from your mistakes and not repeat them. Love this concept. Great class!!!!!
Paypal Roy is one of the best instructors I've had. She uses a curriculum that is perfectly tailored for students to succeed . If you are open/honest with her she will do everything she can to help you be successful. In this class I started off strong and then missed a class, it's at a speed where you definitely don't want to miss class. MUST TAKE!
Best math professor I've ever taken! I hate math and also am bad at it but she made it easy to understand. She grades your tests right after with you so you know exactly what you did wrong. She is also a easy grader and still gives credit if you tried which is really encouraging. Do HW & show up to class & you'll get an A.
Exceptional instructor, with tons of patience. She really is in it to help students achieve.
Great instructor. Very clear and will grade the test or quiz in front of you so that you automatically know your score. I'm taking another one of her classes next term!
She is a great teacher. I had to retake math 111 because my other instructor was awfull but Payal was very patient and wanted her students to learn the math concepts and how to do them. She took the time with students who were struggling and spent time after class to help. She was an fair grader. I recommend her as an instructor.
Payal is great! The first twenty minutes or so of class is spent reviewing homework. She goes in depth answering questions and makes sure that students understand the task at hand. She grades tests and quizzes on the spot right in front of you, explains your mistakes, and grades beyond fairly. Very professional and patient.
She uses a lot of similes which can make you very confused especially if she starts the lecture with them. She will give you credit if you show your work, but didn't write the answer completely perfect. She also writes down why the answer is wrong or will just ask you to go see her.
My second time taking this instructor and it was a lot better this time around. She writes why your answer is wrong, speaks clearly, occasionally makes a joke without taking away from the lecture, and gives forgiveness if you didn't write the question completely correctly.
If you struggle with math like I usually do, take her class. Register soon though because her classes fill up quick.
Her teaching style makes students want to learn more and not just study for the sake of passing the class. One of the things I liked the most about the class was that she never assumes that students know everything, rather she clarifies each and every steps. From her class I've learnt so many basic concepts which I always used to wonder about.
She is AMAZING! Super passionate about her job and very very funny. She explains things so well and I've taken her classes for 3 years. Grades all exams/ group projects in front of you so she can tell you how to fix what you got wrong. Easy A!
She makes sure everyone understands the task at hand and is always honest and clear with her teachings. She genuinely wants to answer questions and help her students succeed.
The best math teacher I've had so far! She tells you exactly what she wants out of your homework assignments, tests, and group activities. She's fairly forgiving with her grading at the end of the term if she see's you in class every day, and has noticed an improvement on your work throughout the term. But you have to listen to what she wants.
Mrs. Roy is an awesome teacher. She understands that not all students learn the same and truly enjoys teaching. She can be humorous at times, which is great. I've always hated math, but she has been able to make it enjoyable.
one of the best teacher ever!
Payal is one of the best math instructors that I've ever taken. She truly cares for each and every one of her students and does her best to teach the subject. While she may have some flaws like trailing off while lecturing or forgetting how to do simple calculations during lecture, none of it matters. Payal is truly one of a kind instructor at PCC.
I love Mrs. Roy. She is the best math instructor I've had. She goes over homework, grades tests/group activities in front of you, she explains everything in detail, and she cares about her students. She's also quite funny! If you can take her class, do it! You won't regret it.
Payal Roy was a great math teacher! She teaches the material very well, the only problem that bothered me was the condition of the study guides for each lesson. They could use some work. She is the opposite of a tough grader; very fair, and caring. She's pretty funny too, and she brought in delicious zucchini bread for Thanksgiving! Yum.
This is the first time I actually enjoyed taking a math class! Mrs. Roy is an amazing teacher and really goes out of her way to make sure her students understand the material. She takes her time with examples and tries to explain it in different ways so everyone in the class gets it.
Payal is a caring, understanding teacher that very much wants you to succeed. If you put forth effort, she will do anything she can to help you. I find that her accent can make it hard for me to stay focused, and she is slightly prone to making mistakes either in her wording or calculations, but I can tell she works hard to be a good teacher.
I never thought that I would enjoy taking a math class but Mrs. Roy definitely changed that. She's one of the few professors who genuinely care for their student's success and does whatever it takes to help you get there. Her lectures do get boring at times but she still brings it back with her humor. Overall, I highly recommend you take her class!
One of the best professors you can take math with. Ive taken three classes so far with her and as long as you do all the work and get a good grade on the exams the class is an easy A. If you dont pass this class its because you didnt try. She explains concepts very simple and easy to understand. Lots of hw but it helps a lot for the exams.
She was great! She was the first teacher I had that could explain the material to me and if I didn't get it she would find a way to explain it to me in a way that I did. Which I really appreciate. Yes she is lots of homework but it's all practice and it all pays off for the final. She understands your thought process and is forgiving of mistakes.
Super amazing! Lectures are very thorough. Stay on top of the homework and study for tests and you'll be fine. She gives great reviews before tests. Study those a lot.
I LOVE payal! Her teaching styles on the course is so clear and understanding. Payal explains everything in detail to where it makes sense without wondering how she got the answer she did. As long as you do the homework, study the group activities and go to class everyday this will be an easy A. TAKE HER CLASS!! YOU WONT REGRET IT!
Payal was a great teacher! She really cares about how you are doing in the class and would always be around to help. She grades tests and homework really quick and gives good feedback and sometimes extra credit on the homework. However, she assigns a lot of homework so be prepared to spend a lot of time working outside of class.
Great teacher, She is funny, there is a lot of note taking but all u do is copy what she is writing. I took this class in the summer so there was 3 exams and one final. Before each exam we do a group activity (Study guide) that we study before the exam. 95% of the question are in the exam. On exam gives points for showing work.
This is an awesome teacher! She is a very fair grader and is always willing to help if you have any questions. She likes to give you a lot of homework before an exam, but then she gives you a few days off after it is done. She has a very thick accent, so she is sometimes hard to understand, but I would still highly recommend taking from her.
Payal is the most passionate professor who just wants her students to succeed. No matter how bad you are in math she will find a way for you to learn the material in the simplest way, just ask for help. Lots of homework, and lots of note taking but it's all very helpful. As long as you study you wont be miserable!!
Payal was a really good math teacher. Her lessons were clear and detailed enough to help you understand what was going on. The final was super easy. Would take again.
Payal is a great teacher and very passionate! During the Winter term, we had a few inclement weather cancellations and she told us how excited her kids were about the snow but how she was at home crying because: "I need my students!" She is such a gem and she loves every single student, but she is quite loud sometimes. Phones are not allowed.
Payal is great! There are 3 tests and a final. The final takes the place of a test with a lower grade. Before every test is a MANDATORY graded group project, basically the test with different numbers, the project is easy because you are in a group and can all contribute. Homework is weighted and she will bump up your grade if you do the homework.
She made returning back to school a breeze. She is great at explaining concepts in a clear and easy to understand way while not making you feel like an idiot. She really managed to make me enjoy math again. If you show up and try, she will do her best to help you succeed. She was kind, pretty funny and just an all around great teacher.
Super caring and dedicated but talks really loud even when shes grading your test so if youre shy about the entire class hearing the ones you got wrong I wouldnt take her. She did a really great job of teaching the material though and was great at answering questions and making sure everyone understood
I loved Payal!Math is not my strong suit AT ALL. She was able to explain things in multiple ways that other profs couldn't. I got A's in her classes and she made me fall in love with learning math. Yeah there's homework but honestly not above the average that these courses mandate. She says she give a lot but I didn't think it was TAKE THIS TEACHER
So amazing and so caring! She is so sweet and helpful! 100% Recommend!
Love her so much, very nice and fun! Lectures are very funny and memorable. Homework is always from the textbook but graded on it being done not correct. As long as you do the homework you'll do well.
She was a very funny teacher. She gave a lot of homework which seemed tough at the time, but ultimately helped with the exams. Before every exam there was a group assignment which was basically a practice exam and also helped prepare for the test. There were three exams and the final. Overall, a tough class but it teaches you everything you need.
I haven't been in a Math class for over a decade and I jumped straight into Stats 243. Payal is the BEST. She has awesome hw packets, stays after class, answers everyone's questions, and grades your exam right in front of you so she can tell you where you made a mistake. She's super encouraging and welcomes all questions. Thank goodness for her.
Mrs. Roy has been the best Math professor I have had. I took Math 95 and 111 with her and she is really sweet and funny. She works with you to get things done and she is also available to help when needed. She teaches in a way that you will understand. I absolutely love Mrs. Roy and would highly recommend her as a professor!
She is AMAZING! She tries to make class fun and gives you really good feedback on your tests, homework, etc. I really recommend her.
This is my second time taking a class from Payal, and she's just as great as the first time I took her. I will always recommend her just because she is so funny, and treats us as her own children. With the exclusion of the final, she grades your test right in front of you so you can advocate for your answers. She is quite generous when grading.
She gives clear and fun lectures, and always goes over homework. As long as you do the homework, and understand the concepts for the tests, you'll get an easy A.
As someone who hasnt touched math in years and struggle with the subject in general. Payal made sure that everyone in the class understood the materials before moving on. Exams are based on the group activity sheets but still requires you to practice and know all operations. Little to no extra credits and lots of HW.
Payal is the BEST math teacher I have ever had. She truly care about the success of her students and will do everything in her power to help you pass. She is available before and after every class to answer questions and offer support. Grades exams on the spot, explains mistakes, and offers partial credit as long as you try. Simply Amazing.
Always offered to help me since she saw that I was struggling In her class. If she saw that a student was struggling in her class she would hand you the review before everyone else to get a head start & would give you another copy to keep practicing b4 test. I recommend taking her class. Especially for someone who has always struggled with math.
She really cares about her students passing and understanding the material. We have group projects before each exam which gives you the opportunity to grasp the content one last time (also makes a great study guide). She grades your exams in front of you which helps you be able to ask questions and see where you went "wrong". Textbook is used 4 hw.
This is my second time taking Prof Roy. Her lectures are extremely long (over 3 hours with no break) simply because she oversimplifies basic concepts to make sure everybody is on the same page. HW is not that heavy but make sure you stay on top of it. Can be picky with notation and tests may be quite long...
She is a great teacher but was extrememly hard to understand making class difficult for me personally. She is willing to work with you if you need anything and is a good teacher overall.
Ms. Roy cares about her students and wants them to understand. She reserves time at the beginning of class to go over any hw questions. She does assign a lot of hw, and taking notes really helps for understanding concepts. She gives good feedback on tests and hw in a timely manner. Just make sure to ask questions if you're stuck.
Best math teacher ever. This class felt fairly easy compared to my previous math classes thanks to her! She briefly goes over topics you have learned before but have probably forgotten. There was a lot of homework, but overall it really helped me. Take her class!! Oh, and she's really funny!
Ms Roy is one of the nicest teachers, she has a sense of humor and its very clear that she really cares about her students
Overall Ms. Roy is a good professor, I enjoy being in her class but she gives a lot of homework considering I have more classes
Amazing professor Roy: shows you how math is interesting; Responds to emails in a reasonable timeframe; Explains why you are learning the material; Makes sure everyone understands. I also took Roy for MTH95, and I highly recommend this professor to anyone who is serious about math. I wish she taught calculus. Maybe in the future? :)
I found her teaching really hard to understand. She moved so fast and seemed irritated when students would want to stop and ask for clarification. She randomly would call out students names during the zoom call to make sure they were paying attention. Very HW intensive so don't take her class unless you can dedicate serious hours for it.
Though she gives homework after every class but she will always take time the next class to go over any student questions. She is very nice and makes sure to explain each problem clearly. Participation is not required but she does appreciate students participating during lectures.
Payal creates a safe space to ask questions during class and provides great feedback to help you prepare for tests. She covers related concepts (previous class, DESMOS & calculator) to get you functional. The class consists of: 4 tests, 4 group activities (test prep) and 50-60 weekly homework problems. Expect 14-20 hours work outside of class.
6 hours of lecture a week, thats 90% reworking the absurd amount of homework problems she assigns. Spent maybe 15 min out of each class actually instructing. Youre going to pay to teach yourself out of a book and have 60+ homework problems assigned 2x a week.
gives everyone a link to the textbook pdf, if a student needs help or clarification she's open to spending time after class, if you follow the class and take notes you're good to go. overall every caring professor for someone who isn't the best at math.
Payal is a great teacher. She has nailed down the perfect algorithm for the class. But be ready for a quantity over quality load of homework!!! She is amazing at interacting with the students and making sure that they understand what the material is! Highly recommend!!!
Do yourself a favor and taker her class! I have taken two math classes with Professor Roy and both times it was an amazing experience! Professor Roy clearly explains her expectations, and is generous in accepting late homework up until the last week of the term for full credit. Very caring, clear explanations, and flexible.
Roy was very accommodating, caring, and accessible out of class- something I highly appreciated. However, she assigns absurds amount of homework (100+ problems weekly) with strict due dates. That's on top of test prep, studying for exam, and 6+ hour lectures a week. Don't take her class unless you have a LOT of free time and want to teach yourself
Roy explained content well & even reviewed math skills (eg completing squares, diff of 2 squares) that were needed for harder problems. This was helpful, since I haven't taken math for several terms. This was an 8 wk summer class, so it was intense, but it wasn't nearly as intense as my 11 wk spring MTH 111 class. If you do the hw, you'll do fine.
Mrs. Roy is hilarious, and shares lots of stories during her lectures to help her students feel more comfortable with the subject. She offers assistance to her students outside of class. Her love for math and her students is reflected in her lectures. Would recommend if you want a teacher that makes math seem less intimidating.
After she works every problem during the lecture she will make sure that everyone understands and has written it down in their notes. Some of class is dedicated to working homework problems that the students need help. About 30 homework problems. Sometimes when you ask a question she will just rework the problem instead of answering your question.
she is the warmest math teacher I have ever come across. Very caring, very funny. I love how often she rags on her family. It is hilarious. Love you so much Mrs. Roy you are precious and wonderful
Best math teacher I've ever learned from. I have had some great math teachers in the past, but Payal has superior lecturing and explanatory ability. Offers many concrete examples and analogies to link the often purely theoretical world of mathematics to the real world. Highly recommend :)
If you don't like math- take Mrs. Roy! She made math fun, and this was easily my favorite class even though I've always struggled with math. If you want to pass ask questions and do the homework. She is a reasonable grader, and does the most to give you a good grade. Absolutely loved this class.
I LOVE Mrs. Roy. She is hilarious (always complaining about her husband + sons), her high energy makes the 2+ hour class go by super quick. She explains everything thoroughly, and encourages questions. She is a pretty easy grader as well. There are 3 exams throughout the term, and then the final. The final replaces your lowest exam grade.
Mrs.Roy was so fun to be in a class with. She uses a lot of real-world analogies to make things more understandable, and is great at answering questions. She's also a light grader; she wants you to succeed! The class is a bit tough but Mrs.Roy's kind and upbeat demeanor made it legitimately enjoyable.
Easily the best math teacher I've had. She uses easily-memorable analogies to help students remember concepts. She's very lively during her long lectures and keeps students engaged the entire time. She spends a lot of time reviewing any homework questions students have, and is overall very attentive to student needs. I cant recommend her enough!
Loved Mrs. Roy! She was an easy grader and payed attention more to your understanding rather than look at the tiny details that we missed. I would say her lecture were on the heavy side and she did go off in a tangent a couple times during her lecture. But if you pay attention, ask questions, you will get the grade you worked for.
She talks A LOT! She wants what's best for you, so she will go up to you if you didn't turn something in. She takes late work and will sometimes give you full credit. (turned in my 11 days late hw and got 10/10) She's very approachable, nice, and has an accent. Hw wasn't too much, exams were nothing bizarre.
Payal Roy is an amazing and caring teacher. Through her teaching style and many exams I learned and understood the concepts very well. If you are hesitant to take a class with her, don't be. She is hilarious, caring, and very knowledgeable, just try your best!
Payal is good at making sure everyone understands the material. Make sure to do the examples in class, HW, and go to office hours if you're confused. I took a 5 hour math class at 8am on a Friday and I wouldn't recommend that class format, but she made it bearable. She goes on tangents sometimes but she usually came back to the topic promptly.
Mrs. Roy is a really good math teacher. She loves her students and math subsequently. I find that if you miss a class you should read up on the textbook, she gives access too. It can be really helpful also to read the textbook beforehand but its not necessary. Overall Mrs. Roy is one of the best math teachers I've had in a while.
Great teacher, very funny and caring. She try's to make sure everyone understands the concepts before moving on. Was never in a bad mood while teaching. Grades clearly and fairly. The only thing that was slightly challenging for me was understanding everything she was explaining clearly, since english is her third language.
Mrs.Roy is very passionate about math, which makes taking this class even better. She is always with a smile, funny. She has 3 exams, extra credit, and will walk you through your confusion. She can be random at times and go on a tangent, but overall she is a very good professor. Would take her again:)
Roy is a nice teacher just be careful because she has an accent. If you don't understand her words it will be hard for you. She talks a lot and I like it about her. She is not a hard grader just a bit on the stricter side. She is very nice and it is really easy to understand everything. Would definitely take the class again!
Roy will take every minute of class plus more explaining the material in ways no one understands. She will spend 90% of class on HW questions that she went over previously then not get through all material. Grades you down on the mistakes based on her preference on how math should be done. Very picky about who you work with. Would not recommend!
Personally, this was the hardest class I've ever taken. There was SO much homework, and it got over whelming at times. BUT, Professor Roy is amazing, and really cares about all her students. Reach out if you are struggling! She was quick to respond. She's good at explaining things but can go very fast at times.
A bit disorganized and didn't always explain things in a way that personally made sense to me, but she's super caring and wants her students to succeed. There was a lot of homework but the problems themselves weren't too bad. Lots of group work in class which made it fun.
This teacher assigned home work on topics we never discussed. We were expected to understand/work through 50+ problems after each class, and additionally she got annoyed when students sent her emails asking questions. I withdrew and switched to a different class and I am beyond grateful that I did. I wouldn't recommend her classes to anyone.
She is a great teacher and she replies to emails very quick. Would 100% take her again if I had the chance!
I've taken Payal for two different math classes and I cannot recommend her enough. There are lots of notes and a hefty amount of homework, but they all relate directly to the exams. The due dates allow you ample time to finish the homework problems, and the notes, while long, are completely in-class and cover the concepts thoroughly.
Love Ms. Roy. just show up to class and do hw. she's an easy grader and treats everyone like her own children. is thorough in her lectures. she usually takes the entirety of the class, you probs won't get out early. the labs are almost every class w a random partner, but we got to pick most of the time.
Mrs. Roy does sometimes talk for a while but is sooo funny and really cares about her students. She truly wants everyone to get a good grade in the class and also gain an in dept understanding of all the material.
Very eager to help students and grades graciously!
Mrs. Roy is very friendly and excited to teach. She is very clear on this: she will not help you unless you ask for it (or unless your scores say you need it). 3 quizzes, 2 tests, 1 big final. Homework is not due till the beginning of next week, MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR HELP ON HOMEWORK PROBLEMS. She prints out notes sheets. 10/10 great professor.
I found Ms. Payal very confusing. She jumped around on different topics all over the board on different topics. She has a very traditional teaching style, test heavy, and seemed frustrated with questions. I wouldn't recommend if you need accommodations/have a learning disability (I have dyslexia)
Although kind, her grading was often on the spot & a quick judgment of your paper. Test heavy, a multitude of hw, & not a kind grader. Her lectures were often disorganized. She lacked a sense of time, don't expect to ever get out early. Most time is spent on all the hw she assigned. Not much lecture and if there is, it's shoved to the end of class.
Payal Roy makes trig click with hilarious analogies, replies to emails fast, and checks on every student. Weekly homework plus occasional quizzes keep you on track, exams decide most of the grade but are fair with other assignments to boost grade. Show up, ask questions, do the practice. I'd take her for every math level.
I recommend anyone else. She can be disconnected from the material and stud
Time management is a problem. The incentive to work in groups can sometimes make learning harder because your paired up with random people. Sometimes this felt like a high school course taught by a high school
Payal is caring and devoted to her students, but this class is not suitable if you cannot follow fast-paced lectures, and are unable to teach yourself math outside or class time.
Mrs. Roy was wonderful and so incredibly energetic throughout the entire term. She provides notes, gives a week for homework. Sometimes a lot of new content in one class period, but not too bad. All classwork was relevant to the sections learned that day. Lots of in class practice. Will be taking her again next term!
Mrs. Roy is a great math professor and I highly recommend her, especially for early college students. She makes college-level material accessible and helps students adjust to college expectations. She explains difficult concepts clearly. Homework is assigned after each class, and the midterm and final make up a large part of the grade.
Overall, a great teacher who did a good job balancing homework. She provided a study guide, and we had a review day before every great quiz. My only complaint is that some small stuff could have been explained better.
