I think she is ok... Class is rather boring, but she does a good job explaining how MLA format works!
I enjoyed her courses. she is a very kind and honest prof. perhaps she could require more of her students, for some slack off. Very smart woman, who deserves her status.
She has done a very good job teaching this class. I have enjoyed reading and discussing the variety of issues seen in the multicultural literature that was selected. Although her classes are not difficult, many of the younger students complain about her teaching style because they refuse to put
Excellent professor. Good class. never a boring moment. Teaches with sophistication/reminds students they're a few steps away from graduate school and teaches as if they're graduate studetns in a graduate seminar.Tough teacher, but kind and fair. Dresses well and is very presentable as professional.
Dr. Peters is a remarkable teacher. She makes herself available to those who care to do better. Easy to talk to. Not many test, mostly essays.
Dr.Peters, is the Best. She is so smart and knowlegeable about all literary writting.I would love to take her for many more clases. She taught me so much.Do youselve a favor and take any of her classes. I assure you, that you will come out much more enlighten about the subject as well as about life.
Class was always conducted as a meeting of the minds ending with a mental group hug. Dr. Peters’ makes learning a social gathering to be R.S.V.P. and attended in a prompt fashion. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have attended her class; I give her a A++.
I really enjoyed her class. The reading assignments were interesting. I think most professor should teach their class like Dr. Peters. The course gave me an eye-opening experience, but then topic was broad enough for college students to relate to. It was my pleasure to be in her class. -Thaihang
Dr. Peters' class was very informative. She was helpful in teaching us about various black authors. She is a legend at Rider (so I hear), and it was a pleasure to be in her class.
I highly reccomend this professor if you want to learn African Amer. Lit.! It's a lot of reading but well worth it. The professor is extremely knowledgeable inciting participation. I enjoyed this class and learned so much! It would be nice if it were a 1 1/2 hr. class oppose to 1 hr.
Outstanding in teaching Race, Class and Gender. If you want to learn take her course. Eye opening and informative. Exceptional professor.
This was the worst teacher I have ever had. Gave extra credit to students she "chose". Unprofessional behavior--discussed my grade with other students. Based participation grades in the class "not on how much you participate, but on whether what you have to say is worth anything." Although I did fine, many in my class were treated quite poorly.
Excellent Professor, very informative and helpful. Treated all students fairly and with great professionalism - would love to take any class she teaches in the future.
Really want to learn? Take this course. Reading material is diverse and interesting. Class atmosphere is mature & professional. You will not walk into, or out of this class without knowing exactly what is expected of you. An amazing professor; always willing to help so use those office hours if you need it. You'll find the door is always open.
One of the worst professors I've had. Had an attitude, was not clear with assignments, and not open to people's ideas. Despite doing well in this class was disgusted with it. Would not recommend.
My love for the course and the professor is that The professor is very serious minded about education, she is sharing, caring and considerate. she set the standards for the class using the University"s codes of conduct and the class syllabus. She is punctual with conference hours. She is a sweety, but not an easy push-over. Grades are hard but fai
OCTOR PETERS IS THE BEST! SHE IS FAIR AND WILL BEND OVER BACKWARDS TO HELP YOU.SHE KNOWS HER SUBJECT MATTER AND IS WILLING TO SHARE THEM WITH YOU. IF YOU WANT TO GAIN A FULL UNDERSTANDING OF THE SUBJECT MATTER, THEN TAKE ANY OF DOCTOR PETERS' CLASSES. HER CLASSES ARE NOT FOR SLACKERS!SO BE PREPARE TO WORK AND LEARN!
Prof. Peters is one of the best professors I have had at Rider University. She is interesting, fair and extrememly knowledgeable in her subjects. I have registered for a third class that she is teaching next semester. There is no mistaking that Prof. Peters is an excellent Professor!
Dr. Peters the best professor I have had while attending Rider. She is intelligent and knows the material being presented. From the materials studied, I have gained a greater understanding on women's issues globally from countries such as, Africa, India, and England, etc. This course has also taught me leadership and to work with others while prep
Dr. Peters has displayed her great knowledge and wisdom to her teachings. She doesn't just teach she educates. She is a wonderful and a great asset to Rider. I would recommend her course to anyone whose interested in being educated and learning a wealth of knowledge in regard to Ethnic, and Multicultural education.
A lot of reading, but great selections. Great person and a good teacher. I would not have read some many novels if I did not have to, but I am so glad I did!!! I really enjoyed this class.
THE WORST PROFESSOR THERE IS!!! she takes no time to help students, and if you get her to get her head out of her ass long enough to help you, she is VERY ignorant, and really rude. She is rarely organized in class, and never goes by the schedule. I suggest never taking her class, she's HORRIBLE!! its a shame too, because the class is interesting
Dr. Peters is a GREAT professor. She is very knowledgeable in the subject matter and is always willing to provide ideas to assist students. She spends a lot of time planning and preparing for upcoming assignments. She is very clear on her policies as well as what she expects from students. As a mature adult, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking her classes.
Excellent teacher, kind, erudite, smart, well-educated, fair, concerned about her students/does she really want to teach at this place; she should maybe be at an ivy league school to teach brighter students much better than the uncourth, awful, totally disrespectful, dumb bunnies she encounters on a daily basis at this place. Good and kind-hearted.
Dr. Peters is a very excellent professor. I enjoyed her class very, very much. She was very helpful to me and all my classmates. Some students were immature and disrespectful. I have since gratuated, but still have great admiration and respect for Dr. Peters. I worked hard but it was worth it.I learned a lot in her class.
Very pleased I’ve taken this course. Professor, AMAZING. Informative, sets the bar and helps you reach it. The only way you finish this course without learning anything or failing, is because you did not apply yourself, or, ask her for help. Strongly recommend you take Dr. Peters for any course she's instructing. You'll not regret it.
Dr. Peters is great! She is fair, fun and I learned alot about writers, literary themes and book banning. I would definately recommend Dr. Peters. She is one of the best professors at Rider.
If you are not ready to be intellectually challenged, then don’t take Dr. Peter’s class. A sincere respect and appreciation for the analytical mind you may not have known you had and an appreciation for topics that previously were of no interests to you, are the resulting benefits for taking any of Dr. Peters class’s. She is great!!!
Dr. Peters is a great professor. She stimulates your mind with precise questions and helps you to develop a love for reading. The books chosen for this semester were interesting, informative and a must read.
excellent teacher, rarely misses classes, strict on attendance, assignments and grades, interesting readings, will help if you with papers if you go to conference, don't miss a lot of class or you're in trouble, be on time or get a reduced grade, good, likable teacher but has conservative mindset.
Dr. Peters is an AMAZING instructor. Learned a lot during her course which opened my eyes up to the world of violence in Lit. and the world. What shocked me were the horrific violences humans exhort on one another. A must take class! Dr. Peters is TERRIFIC, always willing to help and most importantly, FAIR.
This has been probably my best course here at Rider. I just love her style of teaching. The books are quite interesting and there's plenty of books to read. She gives and gets 100% participation. I've only had the opportunity to take one other class with Dr. Peters. She knows how to instill knowledge and yet make it fun and exciting. Chada
An Amazing, Excellent Professor. She is Strict on attendance, so come to class and be prepare to learn. Dr. Peters KNOWS her subject matter and is passionate about it. Lots of great readings, and lively discussions in class. BE PREPARE TO BE CHALLENGE !
One of the Best!! You will gain a better understanding of the subject (s) after taking one of Dr. Peter's classes. Attendance is mandatory, so go! No tests.
I sincerely enjoyed having Dr. Peters as my instructor this semester. I was really surprised by the amount of literary works we covered outside of but in addition to the textbook. Her style of teaching fosters an environment that supports the exchange of thoughts and ideas. Dr. Peters inspires me to want to continue beyond my four year degree
Dr. Pearlie Mae Peters is an excellent teacher. She motivated me enough to read several novels for this course. She gave me the support and the confidence that I needed in order to be able to present my paper in class. I am so glad that I took that course I will recommed her class to my fellow peers.
Dr. Pearlie is an outstanding Professor. Her knowledge of the literature and textbooks discussed in our class was very thorough, awe inspiring and empowering. The class was very informative and interactive. It was a pleasure to attend her class and to be a part of a classroom environment that was both friendly and interesting. 4 thumbs up!!
A smart, knowledgeable, kind and friendly professor/will do almost anything for the welfare of her students/God's gift of a teacher... attractive, well-dressed, profesional teacher at all times...too conservative and strict at times...bright , loves to teach.. sweet as candy/hard grader, but fair, will help you, strict on attendance
Excellent, sophisticated, very professional teacher with genuine interest in welfare of all students. Interesting readings, exam study guide, strict on attendance, reliable, truthful. Favors smart, bright, articulate student. Will not hesitte to fail. overall, generally excellent and will help. tough grader
Dr.Peters is one of the best professors I've had. She is articulate, very professional and helpful. Some people are born teachers and she is one such person. Will do anything to help her students succeed. I look forward to taking another class given by her.A lady with a beautiful spirit that I admire.
I learned a lot! I enjoyed the class and the interaction with fellow students and the professor. I look forward to another class with her sometime in the future. Way to go Dr. "P".
I love Dr. Peters she was very helpfull to me and my friend. She was a Good teacher, always in the classroom when we got there. Never negative and always positive. Thank you Dr. Peters We love you.
Dr. Peters I hope you read this thanks for your help. "We love you". I learned a lot.
This is one of the best class at Rider. This professor has interest in her student.I learned about thing I never kneww existed. She one of the reasons I am at Rider Professors like Dr Peters you are the best!!!!!!
This is the professor to have! Professional, always willing to meet during office hours when you need help, and most importantly, FAIR. You will work hard in her course but it is well worth it. I had an AMAZING learning experience.
Sweet as candy but also tough as leather in grading essays/reads everything./don't plagarize/ she is a smart teacher, knows material and is student friendly/ obssessed with punctuality, big on attendance, makes it mandatory in early morning classes but will listen if you are late. good teacher/helps with papers /gives exam study guides. cute pearl
Take this professor/classes fill up fast; she's good, even gives study guide for final and midterm;she's student-friendly; funny, but too hard on attendance and grading.go to confernce and get papers previewed. Lots of work but you will learn a lot if you read. Be ready. She will call on you in class.
good teacher--the best! tough on attendance and grading--otherwise, o.k.--lots of work--interesting stuff, etc. Don't miss too much class; she'll become brutal and lower your grade
good teacher--the best! tough on attendance and grading--otherwise, o.k.--lots of work--interesting stuff, etc. If you want your grade lowered, miss a lot of class and slack off with work that's due.
good, intelligent teacher, tough on grades and attendance, but otherwise, o.k.very student friendly, likes to help students who show interest, great personality but difficult grader/you do the work, you get thegrade you deserve. She's o.k.--go to conference to get to know her, kind-good side--can appear mean and aloof outside of class, but she isn't
a very good teacher of children's literature/lots of assignments and major papers, got tired of doing so much work but learned plenty for teaching/she doesn't like you to cut or to appear lazy; she will help you with papers in conference--just show respect and don't goof off--she's conservative and very formal in class, takes attendance
Professional, friendly, gives tons of work to read but you learn. only two formal papers, no final or midterm. probes your critical thinking to see if you've closely read readings for the day. Strict on attendance, grades papers hard but will let you revise if you go to conference and ask..kind of tough but basically o.k. friendly but tough grader
THE BEST BUT LOTS OF WORK, TOUGH GRADER, TOUGH ON ATTENDANCE, GIVES EXTRA CREDIT WORK AND STUDY GUIDESFOR EXAMS...OK.
She is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She is rude in more ways that I can explain at the most unnecessary times. For the midterm, she had us start 20 minutes late and then handed out the test to students walking in late first instead of those on time. She also flips out if you let her know class has been done for a good 5 minutes.
A smart, strict teacher, hard grader, does not gel too good with lazy, rude and childish, spoiled brats. Lots of interesting readings/have to work hard to get a good grade--quizzes, presentations, exams--she always makes you do work; don't slack off, don't take this class if you want an easy ride. come on time and don't get a lot of absences.
Excellent but demanding, never misses classes, hard writing assignments, study guide for tests, basically o,k. just strict, good teacher you will work, work, work
she taught a very good class on the Harlem Renaissance..high school teachers audited the class and took lots of notes--excellent teacher, gives lots of assignments, papers, and presentations/tough on attendance and lates, but fair grader if u do all of the assignments and dont get mess up with attencance and lates. go to class if you want to pass.
excellent teacher, good readings, hard grader, strict on attendance and due dates, gives study guides for exams, presentations, lots of papers, don't be late and absent a lot, she's very conservative, strict on attendance and work, hard grader, go to conference, be cool, mind your manners, complete all readings she's never absent/on time
she's o.k.,good teacher, but real serious, conservative, old school, strict law and order type, difficult but fair grader, lots of assignments, be on time, don't be late, don't make excuses with sob stories, turn work in on time, tests have a study guide, sometimes class is fun, lots of new stuff to learn or research
Multi-Ethic Literature.. I had her for my last class ever over the summer. it was a fun class and she was a fun professor. we ate a lot of food and had a lot of discussion. I really enjoyed her class and she was really cool! I highly recommend her.
She's o.k., just lots of work. big on attendance and essays.
This teacher is useless. She repeats herself over and over, doesn't teach anything, and expects YOU to teach the class when you do group work. She keeps you late and is extremely boring. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS TAUGHT BY HER.
She's not that bad! This is the easiest class you'll ever take. Just show up. The tests are multiple choice and its the exact same as the study guide. Just go over that and it's an easy A.
I had Dr. Peters twice and I wasnt impressed either time. I had her for Multi-Ethnic Lit and Lit & Violence and she basically just taught the same class twice. She also made me show a mass card of my dead aunt for proof that I had to miss class because of a funeral. Umm, wtf? She is pretty easy though so if you need a Lit requirement, take her.
Not a bad teacher at all. The readings can pile up if you don't do them when they are assigned. She is big on attendence, if u r absent its up to you to get notes from sum1. Everything is pretty straight-foward. Tests, quizes, projects...BUT YOU MUST READ!!!!
Superb professor//smart but strict/will make you work hard and learn on your own/you have to do a lot of reading and reports to show your stuff/will give a study guide for exams/strict on attendance and lateness/will cut final grade for lots of absences, basically human and understanding, tough grader, smart, unforgettable, helpful and caring, o.k.
I took two CCS Course in Weekend College with Dr. Peters in Global Women Writers and another class with her in American Studies. She was an excellent teacher for adult students. Classes were never boring. I didn't like her attendance policy but I did like that she wrote good reference letters for me for jobs and grad school. great one of the best
I took two CCS Course in Weekend College with Dr. Peters and another class with her in American Studies. She was an excellent teacher for adult students. Classes were never boring. I didn't like her attendance policy but I did like that she wrote good reference letters for me for jobs and grad school. She was one of the best profs I had at Rider.
Dr. Peters is a wonderful woman and she is very intelligent and full of knowledge. She is a valuable person and she is very helpful and is patient with her students. I could not say anything bad about her!
Great, the best teacher at Rider. I nominated her for a teacher award but she never gets one. some other lemon gets it. I like her very much. Fair but tough. Good readings and study guides for all exams. Lots of reading and assignments but she is good and not nasty. But you do have to come to class. She takes attendance.
Just finished a summer course with Miss Pearl. liked the readings and discussions..a good teacher, you could talk to her and she would help you with your work but she didn't cancel classes...always there.. gave lots of work, takes attendance--u have to go to class or get a grade cut/good teacher, the best, but too hard on attendance & assignments
extremely easy grader. tests were simple. she had some random pop quizzes but they werent hard. if you do the work you will pass the class with at least an A.
A great teacher in CCS, took her several times, learned a of new stuff because you really have to read and write in her class; you can't escape it because she has you write a lot heavy on attendance and being on time/will help with papers =--expects too much but if you do all of the work and show up for class you will do good/dont get a lot of cuts
Awesome professor! I loved her, she really knows a lot about what she teaches. She really wants her students to pass, and is very helpful. We didn't use a textbook, but we did have reading handouts. you have to read and write a lot. But you do learn a lot from her course.
Pearlie Peters is a highly educated Fellowship Degree Professor. I don't believe she is recognized for the quality teaching skills she possesses, nor for her professional achievements. She requires a lot, and if one meets those requirements, they reap the rewards. By no means should she be misconstrued as an easy grader. She's tough, but fair.
Incredible teacher. She really wants you to learn and it shows. Very helpful and patient.
OMG. So unrealistic it kills me. Gives you a week for a huge paper... way too much homework. Awful class
She is the best teacher I had in English. This course was good the whole semester; learned a lot of new stuff for student teaching. there was a lot of reading and writing and discussion. She is easy to get along with but she is a tough grader. do the readings, participate and turn in stuff on time. Don't plagiarize. go to conference..show interest
The best teacher ever! This was one of my favorite classes and it was very interesting! Loved it!
Dr. Peters is such a sweet woman. This class was good, but there was work that needed to be done. A lot of reading. There were big projects too. But they were easy if you take the time to get it done. Participation in class is huge to her. She will definitely help a student in need. She knows the material. There was a midterm but no final exam.
She was very redundant and all over the place. I did not learn anything in her class and ended up withdrawing from it. If you can avoid her please do. I will say that she is a nice person but not a great teacher.
honestly the most confusing professor that i've ever taken. often ended class early and tried to go over things in class that she did not assign. wasn't really willing to help others
Cannot believe how rude this teacher was for no reason. If you can avoid this teacher I would, dropped the class within the first week because if she doesn't like you, you will fail and she did not like me for no apparent reason.
If you are not a teacher's pet kind of student, then this is not the class for you.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She tells you one thing and expects another. Will fail you if you did not read her mind and do what she wants. She is not clear on any instructions but will occasionally extend deadlines if you cry. She seems knowledgeable in her area but does not share the knowledge.
This teacher is one of the worst I've had. She's very unclear and doesn't explain any assignments and then will grade you on expectations she did not clarify. If you can stay away please do because you will leave class everyday thinking what is going on. She is rude and unapproachable and you just will not enjoy this class if she doesn't like you.
Dr. Peters is a sweet woman who is very passionate about literature. The course is very interesting and there was never a dull moment. She assigns readings for every class so make sure to read them for the midterm. She expects her students to fully participate in the class so make sure you do. She's also willing to help any student in need.
She spends so much time repeating herself and I feel that all I've learned is the word "tone" and the way writers express what they're saying. Wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a fun class, would if you're looking to just sit and chill while she lectures.
She's very unlcear about what she expects. She puts EVERYTHING in class even content from student presentations. She very set in her ways, is extremely knowledgeable but not personable. I did tons of extra credit and only got an A- She doesn't negotiate grades and does not welcome office visits. Avoid if possible to find nicer/easier professor
Dr. Peters is a very nice women; however, it is time for her to retire. She was extremely unorganized (changing assignments at 3 AM for example), her syllabus was a disaster, and she never once answered any of my multiple emails sent in the semester. The class was a waste of time. Very few assignments- reading responses, two papers, & annot biblio
Pearlie is a very nice lady and professor. This class is easy to get by but you might as well pay attention and do the readings. People tend to treat her class as a joke but if you show your paying attention she will definitely respect you. She is an older women but is very smart on what she is teaching. Pay attention to her reviews before tests!!
Professor Peters is a nice lady but a terrible teacher. She is not a great speaker and doesn't let student choose their own paper topic which is disappointing. Overall her class was pretty boring and waking up to go was like living a nightmare.
Be prepare with readings and you will done great
Really nice lady, you're expecting to read a lot but most of the material is pretty interesting and short. A lot of group work and presentations. Chill class though, get out early often. midterm, 2 presentations, 2 essays. Not expected to take final unless you're failing the class.
This class is very interesting. But she is, in fact, the worst professor I have ever taken at rider. Her syllabus will have due dates but she will come into class and say that the assignment was due for that day when the syllabus said differently and you still had a full week to do it. She doesn't care what her syllabus says and she is very rude.
Very nice lady, but her expectations are so unclear its ridiculous. She gives lots of essays with prompts that are all over the place and hard to understand. A lot of her assignments do not make sense such as well. She also does not give much feedback on any essay you get back. Overall a pretty frustrating experience.
Dr. Peters is a very sweet lady. She definitely cares about her students and you can tell she wants to get to know them. However, she is pretty all over the place. She gives many readings but they are all pretty short. She is a really easy grader. If you do the work on time and attend class, you will succeed in her class.
Please don't get me wrong - Dr. Peters is a wonderfully kind woman. However, her teaching practices leave a lot to be desired. Her lectures are interesting and the readings are short, however, there was nothing engaging about her lectures or assignments. It was go home, read, homework, come back. She barely put grades in until the last minute.
There were a lot of papers in this class but she gives a fairly good time to get it done, the only thing I would say is make sure you go to class everyday because she most definitely cares about attendance !
Dr. Peters is a wonderful person, but her teaching abilities are a bit out of date. We as students had no idea what our grades were throughout the semester and will not know our grades until the semester is over. Her final assignments are long and filled with ridiculous expectations. If you can avoid taking her class, I would.
Professor Peters is a nice woman, but she is not at all tech savvy. She tries hard to be, but her canvas page ends up being incredibly messy because of this. She has a habit of cutting people off in order to interject her own opinions. Fairly easy class, but it can get frustrating fast.
She is a good person, but very disorganized which is frustrating. Assignments are constantly due, but she gives no time in class to do them. No clue what my grade is because she will not put the grades in until last minute. This is a gen-ed class for me, but requires more work than my major class. I am frustrated and overwhelmed.
Professor Peters is amazing!!! I've taken her twice and she's been the sweetest professor I've ever met. Definitely take her class, its not difficult at all. Will give essays throughout the semester but nothing too hard at all, but if you communicate that you need help she will help. Learn a lot if you pay attention in class
Sweetest professor ever! If you do the work assigned, you will have no problems passing.
Dr. Peters is one of the BEST professors I have ever had!!! She's not the most tech savvy, but what she lacks in technology she makes up for in intelligence. If you truly listen to her, she will tell you exactly what she is looking for in her assignments, and really wants to help you. I love love LOVED her and you will too!
Dr. Peters was an amazing professor. She made the class so easy to understand and was accommodating when things came up. She is extremely lecture-heavy, but it is interesting to learn the topics in the way she teaches them. She is not very tech-savvy- the entirety of our course was outlined in great detail though.
The easiest class I've taken in college so far. There's abt 5 assignments she'll have you do throughout the semester and if you just write what she's looking for, youre bound to get an easy A. Peters does require you read her textbooks often but the material is engaging enough to not wanna blow your brains out.
Professor Peters is kind and I love her as a person but never take one of her classes. She was understanding which was really helpful since her assignments took ages. They were long and had tons of requirements. there was so much reading and she'd always say the books were easy reads. they werent. She also talks SLOW and constantly repeats herself
The professor is generally sweet, though their teaching style can be hit-or-miss. The workload is manageable if you engage with the material. unstuck ai was a lifesaver for study prep.
Repeats herself nonstop, will not answer emails at all. Isn't a tough grader but you can tell she does not care about students is there just for a check do no recommend to take her if not necessary.
LISTEN TO ME!!! DO NOT TAKE HER CLASSSSS. she's a nice old lady but she's the worse teacher I've ever had the misfortune of taking. How are you going to change the due date for the final and not email us. She's disorganized and kind of rude. Yes you can pass her class with minimum effort but your mental health will take a hit.
Loved the class!! checks your essays many times before actually grading them.
I would never take this class again. I was forced to take CMP 125 as a gen ed. The teacher was unable to operate canvas or explain herself well. I learned nothing from this class.
