The material is clear and well presented, I'm learning a lot. never realized that economics could be useful and interesting. His course is not hard but he assigns lots of homeworks. Highly recommended.
This class was so boring. Attendance is mandatory because every day there are in-class quizes. There's a lot of online homework and his exams are extremely difficult. I don't reccommend taking Macro with him.

He's from Brazil, so he talks different but you get used to it. His lectures are ok but there's in class quizzes everyday. The online homework was moderately difficult along with his tests. He gives extra credit for online experiments at 730am. I'd take a class with Pedro again.
He is a cool guy, with a good sense of humor, He is very knowledgeable in the material and very intelligent. A little difficult to understand with his accent, although you get used to it. The one downside is his tests are pretty tough even despite the curve he grades with. If you want a cool professor take him, but its a tough class to get an A in.
Great teacher, keeps material interesting, and tests are not too bad. Hard to understand sometimes with the accent but easy to get use to.
Tends to be very opinionated in his teaching, but other then that, he is a great prof.
His intro to macro class isn't a cakewalk, but Pedro's insight and examples help make it more accessible. The only issue is that when he goes on a tangent for too long, you can expect the last 5 minutes of class to be rushed so he can get all the material covered. Otherwise, if you show up and do the assignments, you're fine. Awesome personality!!!
good class overall
He relates course material to real life situations extremely well.
He has lots of online homework that counts for 1/4 of your grade. If you like working at your own pace on the computer then this is the class for you.
Useful information when dealing with the economy.
Macro economics is a difficult subject to comprehend. I rarely had to use my textbook because the notes in class followed the chapter so well. Complicated matters were explained with relevant examples, not hypothetical ones
Pedro is a great professor! He keeps your attention. He relates current class content to current events! I would take Pedro again!
Pedro is a wonderful professor! It's like he hands you a pair of glasses and says "look" so you can see the world in a new way. I love his side talk because it's relevant! His accent rocks! For the class, there's online homework using Aplia (easy) and the tests are fair. DO NOT BUY AN ACTUAL BOOK! You can buy an e-book on Aplia for cheaper!
I liked his class. Pedro is really smart and helped explain things so i could understand the topics better. I wasn't a fan of all the power points he did though.
He is really a great teacher and is very helpful. It is a relatively difficult class but also very interesting. Overall this class was an enjoyable experience.
Gives you 10% extra credit opportunities which are very simple to obtain. Great teacher, connects well with the textbook. Online assignments get a bit long, but are directly out of the book. Also the textbook chosen was a great help. Tests are managable and Pedro is a fun and engaged professor! I suggest taking a class from him!
He is very interesting to listen to in lecture and is very interested in his subject.
Good professor. was very informative and helpful in navigating today's financial mess.
Helpful and Kind teacher
Great teacher, makes the class interesting. Uses clickers every class, but class is not mandatory, however it does count towards extra credit. Lots of online homework, tests aren't too bad. Overall good lecturer with good insight.
Awesome teacher! Hope to have him again in a future class.
Very good teacher!
An AWESOME professor and an AWESOME class.
Very interesting to listen to! Brings everything to a lower level of understanding! I actually wanted to go to class!
Did a nice job getting right to the facts and putting them in terms that everyone can understand.
Some times he goes a little fast but it's necessary to cover all the material.
Great guy, Great professor. Makes you want to come to class
Pedro is very caring about economics. He has helped me to become more interested in the subject.
Funny accent, easy to get used to. Likes to go off on entertaining rants.
Pedro Albuquerque is an excellent professor. His teaching style is both engaging and professional and he is always willing to answer questions. Highly recommended.
likes to rant
He does a great job applying the concepts to current real-life situations.
Good teacher.
Pedro was a good teacher, I just had difficulty doing well on tests even with large amounts of studying and several methods.
He is very knowledgeable on the subject and have a lot of good advices for student.
The only problem is that he gets pinched for time toward the end of the hour and runs through a bunch of slides rather quick, other than that, everything is laid out pretty thick so everyone gets a good understanding of the material.
Very good professor. Consistently relates to real world examples. Sets a good learning pace.
Good professor. Answered questions and willing to talk whenever asked. Tried to be as objective as he could.
His tests really didn't relate well at all with powerpoint notes, online assignments, and clicker questions. I really didn't understand economics which isn't his fault but he makes it harder than it needs to be.
Fairly easy class. Gives out extra credit for clicker questions. Last midterm is challenging and the Final is impossible but if you go to class and get the extra credit still a good shot at an A
He was very enthusiastic about the subject matter and graded very fairly. The class was interesting. I would definitely recommend this class to everyone.
Great class if you like econ or finance. Tough if you don't know much about it, but interesting. He is energetic and enthsiastic about the topics covered.
There is bonus points for attending class, however you can learn everything you need to know from the slides.
Pedro is a solid Econ teacher. He knows what hes talking about and gets really into it some times. At times he is hard to understand but you do get points for using your CLEEKERS in class, so go to lecture.
He is very set in his ways and refuses to admit that he makes mistakes. He spends most of the class ranting about personal ideals rather than teaching the subject. The information tought in class does not corelated to the homework, and the homework site is confuesing and he refuses to help.
Pedro is a great teacher! He is very passionate about economics and definitely knows his stuff. He explains things very well and grades in a timely manor. I love his sense of humor and enthusiasm!
Pedro Rocks.
Gives fair tests and a few extra pionts possible here and there. overall not a bad teacher at all.
great guy
Professor Albuquerque is a phenomenal professor, and by far my favorite economics professor at UMD. He doesn't merely read off the slides, which for myself would be completely useless, but rather goes on rants about current issues in the field. This is far more interesting and his rants are full of passion and expertise.Pedro is a brilliant prof.
Pedro is a very nice professor and offers a great course. Not overly challenging, and he's willing to help. Over all great professor.
Definately need to go to class and tests are difficult!
Pretty solid teacher, real world examples, goes on tangents fairly easily but they are interesting. I would recomend him. Gives 10% extra credit for clicker questions in class.
Pedro is a great teacher! He is very enthusiastic about economics and makes class both entertaining and interesting. The tests can be tricky, but you can earn up to 11 extra credit points which can really boost your grade. Highly recommended!
Tests were tricky and had alot of assignments. But if you use your book on the assignments they are not too bad.
It was a requirement class for me so my interest in it or not didn't really matter.
Good professor, fairly easy class. If you need an econ course I would recommend taking this course.
Best professor I have studied under.. would love to do courses under him.... A class that I never missed and never wanted to miss it...
Very enthusiastic about subject matter and fun to listen to as well. He puts all his lecture slides up on the web, and teaches almost straight off of them so attendance is not mandatory except for response card questions.
Really nice and easy-going. He gives points for being in class, so paying attention is easier when you know your being graded on it. Test aren't to hard and the online homework helps boost your grade. Very easy to talk to and will help if needed! Very good Macro teacher! :)
Nice funny guy... try to pay attention in class, makes it easier :/. tests were fair, clicker questions are extra credit. Aplia is a good part of grade so keep up on those. As long as you stay on top of the work should be no problem.
Albuquerque is a crazy brazilian that loves to rant and is an actual economist. He makes economics interesting and useful in the real world. I would definitely take him again as a teacher. Genuine good guy.
He knows his stuff and really gets into it but he goes exactally from the textbook and so I get bored since there is little deviation or new information. He's a good teacher but for whatever reason his accent puts me to sleep some days. Watch his tests though!! They're killers!!
Overall good teacher. He likes to go on random rants which can be distracting. He is very passionate about his teaching.
Prof,Albuquerque is my favorite prof. at UMD. He is enthusiastic about economics and about helping his students learn and understand. He is also an entertaining lecturer, something I didn't think was possible, but he does it! His sense of humor and cracks at politicians make going to his class a treat that stands out among the dry and boring.
Awesome class. Made Economics very interesting and was very entertaining at times!
Very fair teacher. Allows to earn up to a full letter grade of extra credit towards your grade just by showing up to class. A funny teacher as well during lectures.
Kept the class interesting...very funny. However, hard to understand and comprehend at time
This professor did one hell of a job in helping me understand economics, and made the class both tolerable and entertaining while still getting the message across. I only wish he taught micro economics too (For next semester).
He was very good at teaching. Understands that most of the class is new to economics. Very lenient. He's there to help you if you need it. Highly recommend this teacher.
Great professor! Rants about his ideas of government. Makes our current administration look terrible. Very good at just sticking to economics though. I would recommend him. Doesn't like the "Change" in our government, which indicates his vote.
offers extra credit, attendance isnt mandatory but if you go to class you have clicker questions which you get extra credit for, he also offers online experiments for extra credit. he teaches straight from the textbook so if you read that ul do fine on the exams. (the chapters are only like 30 pages too) overall a easy class id say.
Awesome.
Good teacher. Talks pretty fast and tries to teach a lot of information during a lecture.
Fun Teacher to have and provides useful information dealing with economics.
funny, likes to rant, its entertaining
My biggest problem was that he is constantly talking about his political views, which is not what I came to learn, very frustrating. He teaches the theories behind all the concepts, but not how to actually do them, and then has incredibly difficult homework of things he never explained. Tests are okay, extra credit for going to class rocks.
Great teacher!
Money and Banking. He was a great professor wanted you to learn. Attendance wasn't mandatory but you have a clicker and if you go it was extra points. The quizzes were online which was nice and there are 2 exams a final and a group paper. I would recommend Pedro for sure!
He loves economics so if you do too, you'll have tons to talk about.
Pedro is awesome,i would vote pedro for president if he ran... hes that good. if i can get a B anyone can. his extra credit points help alot but you have to go everyday to get them.
His assignments are difficult and tests have nothing to do with the book and very random
Pedro is a great teacher. He is passionate about economics and he helps you understand the material if you go to class. The aplia assignments make you read the chapter and if they don't, they should. If you do that and get all his extra bonus points its an easy A.
for people who don't have interest and simply have to take the class because it is required, good luck. pedro talks about the most random things in class and his tests are pretty terrible. way too many online assignments.. good luck, pedro doesn't help much if you are don't have a business mind.
Pedro was great! He really seemed to enjoy the topic, and really wanted us, the students, to understand and use the knowledge in our everyday lives. There was a lot of online homework, and that was frustrating at times. Overall though, I really enjoyed being in his class!
Awesome teacher. Sometimes hard to understand but it's clear he loves what he's teaching.
He is not very helpful. I was sick and missed about a week. I had a doctors note, but he said tough. Clicker points everyday. If you miss class you won't do very well.
