If you need to take this class, I recommend to take this professor. Her essays are easy because they require your own thinking. Books you read in this class are interesting as well so you wont have to worry about not using book you spend money on. Although sometimes she can be unclear about when things are due, she is very helpful at anytime.
If you're going to take this class, make sure you have a lot of spare time at home to do her work. There is a lot of reading in her class, and the majority of her essays are based on the books you read. She can also be unclear about when things are due, she tends to be forgetful about things so you have to keep reminding her.
A ton of reading, but the books are really good. Motaleb is really helpful and breaks down all of the requirements for all essays. She hates lazy students and will ignore the ones who ask questions about things she's already covered 100 times. Go to office hours. I'll def take her again next semester
Loved Pegah's class. She will help you become a better writer. Her class is challenging, but if you go to her office hours, she will explain everything to you. She is big on attendance and takes role every day. So go to class, do the readings, and you'll do great.
She's super nice. She loves the subject she teaches. I feel like I am a better writer after taking her class. She is a little forgetful at times. So just remind her.
She treats us like we are college students and I don't think many of her students are used to that. She breaks up the essay in small parts which is super helpful. Lots of interesting topics. She's obsessed about Steinbeck.
Cares about students. She does not deal with slackers. 5 absences and she'll drop you. I like her teaching style a lot. I learned a lot about research. If you want to learn writing, take her class. If you want to slack off, take someone else.
Honors Middle Eastern studies was awesome- learned SO much.
I just got my grades and she gave me an A which I deserved. She takes her job very seriously. I mean verrry seriously. Great reading assignments. I loved the essay we wrote on our future careers because it helped me see what's ahead. Nice prof. My writing improved so much because of her "workshops."
This is diffidently one of the better teachers I had. During the 8 week course i felt like she went above and beyond what she was suppose to do. I learned a lot, not just English related work, but also American history. She made it fun to learn and would recommend anyone to take her class. Not to mention, she brought us donuts on the day last day.
She's awesome already. No textbooks required. She has us find our own books at the library. I've noticed that she is very serious about teaching so if you are lazy or think her class is an easy A you won't do well in her class. She's very professional and she went out of her way to help me with my first assignment with my group.
Pegah is awesome. I don't understand why ppl r saying she's mean. She's so nice all the time. I have her for Eng. 105 and there is never a dull moment in class. Plus she doesn't require a textbook required.
I've never had a teacher who read all of my essays and gave feedback like she does. She really does make you work for that grade. Not an easy A. She is all about fixing the issues in education, so she takes it all out in her class. She taught me a lot aboout reading and writing, but my God she is tough
the only teacher at Mesa college that teaches- her class is awesome
Well let's see. She breaks down the essays into small parts. Gives lots of extra credit opportunity. Encourages everyone to talk in class. Overall good class. Oh and no textbook required.
Prepare to read a lot in her class, however the topics are interesting and your class choices what you read. She had 3 essays, multiple quizes and a lot of reading. It is rough that you have something due almost every class because she does process writing, but it keeps you from procrastinating and adding extra stress. Overall, great teacher.
Great teacher
Took this class for honors credit - it was focused on Middle Eastern studies. She's really nice and understanding - gives you feedback on essays and can help if you ask. This class also requires discussion and analysis. Didn't have a single test or pop quiz, only essays and some projects - participatedo the reading and you're fine.
I took Prof. P for Eng. 47A, 101, and I just signed up for her 205 next semester. She loves her subject. very helpful. Don't sign up for her class if you are a slacker. Definitly not an easy A class. Oh and no textbooks so you can save some money
If you do the reading and show up to class, you won't have a problem getting an A in the class. She takes the time to read your assignments and comment on them. You also get a chance to review and edit your essay for a higher grade! Interesting class discussions.
Very unhappy with this class. She talks to us like first graders and had us get into groups and call them our "families". She had us make the reading list. Asked us to think of class activities. Though it is a little fun, I'm paying to learn from someone who knows what they're doing. Not my peers. She lost my respect early. But the class is easy.
very down to earth- she wants us to think for ourselves and appreciates everyone's input. she is not an old school teacher who just stands in front of the class and lectures. we sit in circles a lot and talk about literatures that we as a class have selected. i just like how she makes the class about us and not her views like so many other teacher
Attendencesemimandatory due to quizzes on the reading every class and participation pts is a huge part of grade. Quizzes not designed to really fail you, just designed to see if you read. Essays can be frustratingdepends. Choose a topic that you can write a lot about. Don't choose to analyze a poemshort story as you do have to write 4pgs on it.
very nice, respectful, and helpful teacher. go to office hours. she will help u w ur essay
My fav professor this semester
She's the most caring teacher hands down. I've never had a teacher who cared as much as Pegah. She brings the coolest videos to calss and makes them connect to the books we read. Her class is so fun and already I've learned so much about life in general
The most chill professor ever. She is very flexible and makes funny jokes about her husband all the time. But it always connects back to the class. Tell her to tell you about her chicken noodle soup story. :)
Great teacher and class. I didnt like english before but now I do
She's very hands on. Group assignment every class. It's an 8 AM class so be ready to work. She taught me how to write a real college paper.
Pegah is the bomb dot com ! hehe. Her class discussions are so fun. I've learned so much just from the readings. I used to be a reallyshy person but I feel so comfortable in her lcass. All classes should be like Pegah's
she gives the impression that she's easy because she's so nice, but she is a hard grader. i didn't mind because i like the challenge. she also let's you revise your paper and if you go to office hours she'll really help you with your essa. but a lot of the slackers in the class didnt like her
cool teacher- readings are interesting just do the work and u'll be fine
Very good readings. Actually she let the class choose the readings. She was very nice. Good teacher. You can tell she knows a lot about her subject. Not an easy A, but she challenges you.
She may be too serious about students but you know what Professor Pegah taught me how to write an essay. She is very helpful during office hours too. And she sends out cool extra credit events through email everyday. Don't slack do all the work and you'll be fine
I loved this literature class. I felt very relaxed to participate. She let the students choose the readings for the semester so I appreciated not having to buy a book. Overall, interesting class.
There were some immature students in the class. I am surprised she politely dealt with them. But amazing class discussions. The class chose the readings the entire semester. Gooo Prof. P
great teacher- I'll be taking her 101 in the summer
Good class
Good class just do the readings and pegah will help u w the papers
Class is taught from a Middle Eastern perspective. This was unique and the class gave me a new perspective about the Middle East. I would recommend taking this class readings are from Middle Eastern books while papers are written on ME topics as well. Do not be intimidated by this class and I have found that whatever you put in, is what you get out
I hated everything about reading and writing before taking her class. She knows her stuff and is very helpful when you go to her office hours. We had to read 5 books throughout the semester and had open book quizzes. Her essays are easy, participation matters and she's funny. I highly recommend taking her class :)
Phenomenal !! She really cares about her students , and you can tell she loves what she does. I learned so many amazing things in her class . Its not an easy A , she makes you engage in critical thinking . But if you show up to class the essays are easy bc she dose workshops in class . Very kind and easy to talk to . Love her !!
She is super helpful, when I was sick she let me do my presentation during her office hours. She has clear grading criteria and offers plenty of extra credit. There's a lot of group activity and class does mighty swell if you participate. Great teacher!
I am currently taking pegah's eng. 101. She is funny and respects all of the students. class always go by fast because she makes us do group discussions and activities. no text books. she gives us all of the readings. will take her again for 205
I took her during the summer and I think she was a great teacher. At first she was a bit intimidating but later she turned out into a really relaxing professor. I would highly recommend taking her!!!
:) very nice and open minded teacher
Vwery good teacher
She is an AWESOME professor! I would take her over and over again for the classes she teaches. To get an "A" in her class: participation matters, skip class you won't pass (she allows up to 5 absences), she provides you with great feedback, and she cares about her students.
I am so sad that our class is over in a week. Pegah has been so kind to me. The readings are good, and the best part is she doesn't make you buy a book. She provides all the readings. The only bad thing about her class is that an assignment is due almost every day. Overall though, she is one of the best teachers at Mesa.
She's an AMAZING professor! I was so sad when our class ended because I learned so much during the summer. She is very helpful when you need help, class is always so interesting, and she's overall a great professor. Quizzes on the readings, you do group work during class, and essays are easy. Won't regret her class. Mesa is lucky to have her!!!!!!!
If you want a teacher to teach you to write well, take Pegah's class. She is very very good.
I love reading now because of this class. very interesting books. good teacher who cares and is nice and approachable
She made my life so much easier. she goes above and beyond to help students. very nice and approachable and just fun to be around. Great readings. Won;t make y buy a book either. very reasonable teacher
Awesome teacher. Taker her if you are scared of writing. She is very nice and patient and will actually help you.
LOVED this class! Didn't know this Eng 205 class focused on the Middle East but it was very eye-opening & I would highly recommend this class! This course is also an honors course so there are a lot of assignments. Read 3 books throughout semester, loved the 2nd book(would read again). One group project to end the semester w/ outside events to pass
Ms. Pegah is a great teacher. If you want to learn and have a good time, take her class. It was hard getting up at 8 in the morning, but when I was there, it was always a good class.
I liked Pegah's class a lot. She is very down to earth and willing to help students. The class activities were fun and it helped me grow as a reader and writer.
Pegah is a very good teacher. Her class is not easy, but she makes it easy. She is very clear, gives lots of sample essays, and makes writing so easy to understand. I hope to take her classes in the future.
Really easy class and super nice professor, however, a little too nice sometimes. Go to class and read the books and there's your grade in the class. 3 Major essays and the opportunity to resubmit for a higher grade.
Nice teach
Pegah really made me appreciate English. She forces students to think critically and write papers in a non-stressful, fun, and engaging way. The class is fun and I looked forward to showing up. She assigns a lot of short readings after which she sometimes gives pop quizzes. She is very generous with extra credit.
She is Awesome! Truly you will learn the stuff and get your best grade ever! *No Text Book only used her own written Note Book.
Pegah is an amazing teacher. She is passionate about her field and genuinely wants to help students succeed. She has no tolerance for those who do not do the reading. It's an English class, reading is expected- so do it. I enjoyed writing the papers very much, they make you think critically. Take her Middle Eastern course!
she is a great teacher, always there for you when you need and she did not required books because she know that books are expensive.
Best eng teacher ever!!!!!!!
Pegah was great! She does get annoyed and will call you out if you are not paying attention in class. She's easy to work with. We read 5 books during the semester. 2 were good, 3 were extremely boring. Pop quiz almost every week. Easy A if you do your work and focus.
Patient, friendly, and actually makes a boring topic fun. Just go to class and ask Pegah for help. You'll get an A if you do all the work.
I've never met an instructor who cares so much about every student. She believes that every person can be successful in college and wants all her students believe that about themselves. She knows her grammar and literature, and though she is modest and might not agree, Pegah is a fabulous writer as well. Inspiring, funny, patient, smart! Take her!
I really liked her English class. Pegah is very helpful especially during office hours. Take her class and don't slack and you will get an A
Stop searching! Take Pegah! From being the subject I hated and struggled with the most, English is now one of my favorite subjects, thanks to Pegah. She is passionate about what she does, keeps all lectures and assignment interesting, and cares about every single one of her students and their success! Mesa is lucky to have a professor like Pegah!
I loved that Pegah allows her students to make the class their own. Cares a lot about the students opinions and really lets them explore their own knowledge in English. Easy projects and papers, but must attend class. Most classes are spent with fascinating group discussions.
chapter book quiz(some time she gives you a short quiz on the chapter that she assign and the quiz is not everyday), 3 essay(allow you to revise your essay and the topic is your biography, analysis, and research essay), extra credit(max. is five extra credit and each one contains 3 points add on your assignment),you should attend her class everyday
she is great . if you read your books and write your essays on time you get A. you have extra time for revising your essays .
Pegah is the best. She was very helpful and her class was actually fun.
Stop searching !! Choose this teacher
She is the best teacher I've ever had.
Professor Pegah was great! I took her online summer course and I am glad I did. There was no textbook since she supplied all of the reading. Our topics were current and intriguing. She really makes you think, is supportive, gives great online videos to help you out and feedback. Just make sure you do the work and you will have no problems.
The online fast paced ENG 101 course was easy. She had you do small assignments each week with two 2 final essays and 1 project. For a fast pace online class, it seemed doable. She provides very detailed instructions and is available for questions. Just don't forget to attend the mandatory tutoring because it is part of the grading criteria.
Best English professor that I've ever had. Pegah is nice towards students. We had 2 essays and 1 group project as a final. If you put some efforts on the essays, you will easily get As. She is not a tough grader but get ready to read and do homework everyday. Her readings are very interesting. You'll have to show up in class to turn in homeworks.
Really liked this professor. She really made sure to be there for her students if we needed any help or if we had questions. The class did have a lot of work and you had to go to events outside of class for credit. Granted, this was an honors class. I had a great time in this class, but if you slack off on assignments it makes it hard to catch up.
best teacher! she really cares and will help you if you need help. no other teacher like pegah!!!
I took this class online, and I am glad I did. She provides all the textbooks on Blackboard, so you don't spend a dime.
Prof. Motaleb is one of the best professors I have had. She utilizes current issues to connect to students. She is very informative and sends email reminders and give great feedback and opportunities to fix mistakes to earn a higher a grade. I highly recommend. She outlines everything clearly
My least favorite subject is english, and Pegah made this class something I looked forward too. She provided all the reading material which helped with the hassle/cost. All material was relevant, interesting and thought provoking. She is also helpful/understanding. I felt like I gained so much from this class. absolutely 5 stars.
Lots of reading at home that gets discussed in class. She is easygoing and fair. Lots of group discussions too.
Great teacher, really nice , took her 8 week summer course online and she really connects with her students despite it being online. She doesn't require textbook which is always a plus and the readings she provides are really interesting. She does have high expectations for essays so make sure you get a tutor to review it.
Shes amazingly kind. She will definitely go out of her way to help you and she always wants to help. Just get ready to read a lot!
AMAZING teacher! Class readings are interesting. Choose your own essay topics and get a chance to revise them for a better grade before the end of the semester. The class consists of weekly quizzes/discussions, 2 essays, and a final presentation. She makes herself available for video conferencing, which is convenient. Extra credit opportunities.
Weekly readings and quizzes based on what you read but there are some weeks where there won't be quizzed. The class consists of weekly quizzes, 3 essays, and a reading presentation at the end. She was very accessible, especially with the whole COVID-19 pandemic going on, extending her office hours to the weekends. She cares a lot about her students
Best prof. ever. Made English super easy, small assignments almost every week and I had to do 3 papers and a final project. I've never had a teacher that cares so much. Always available to discuss grades and extra credit opportunities. Very genuine, would take her class 1,000x's again.
I took Professor Motaleb's online English101 class. I really enjoyed the short weekly readings (or videos) and really liked the amount of time she gives us to write essays (there are three essays for the whole semester if I remember correctly). She gives amazing feedback and is very understanding. Just remember to communicate if you have concerns!
Interesting class readings with some quizzes on them. Always accessible with her office hours and the grading criteria was clear for the 3 papers and 1 final presentation. As long as you complete everything on the rubric, you got full credit for the essays. Very caring and we covered relevant social issues like race. SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT.
Prof. Motaleb is an amazing professor (had her for ENGL101 too). Reading material is fun to read and the discussions, essays, projects and reading quizzes are so well put together it's almost impossible to fail. Don't procrastinate either, she give you so much time. If you have any concerns just reach out to her; she's so accommodating :')
Great professor! I personally liked the topics she gave us to write about. The readings weren't too long, but they were actually nice to read. Also Her grading criteria is very clear! But if you do not understand something she is quick to help (I had to ask). The workload is average for an English class, but do not turn in things late. She's Great!
This is a little overdue. I took her class in Spring 2021. I tell you she is the most amazing teacher I have ever had!!! She genuinely cares about the well being and learning experience of her students. She has assignments that is diverse for various populations. She's still emailing me resources even though I'm not in her class.
I took this as an 8-week over the summer, and it was manageable. She did surprise me with the amount of movies/documentaries/podcasts that she assigns, and it does take some time from you. The assignments are very easy though and she's a super easy grader. She also gives 18 EASY pts extra credit, which makes a 73 jump to a 91 (for reference)
Motaleb is not a bad teacher but you don't learn much. You simply read or watch videos, passages, articles, and podcasts and then write on the topics given to you. I would have liked to learn about more english related topics rather than only racial topics, while theres nothing wrong with that it felt more like a politics class than english.
Lovely professor and really wants you to get an A. Show up to her office hours and she'll explain what you need to do to get an A even if you currently have a C in the class. Great overall.
TAKE HER CLASS!!! you can turn in one late essay, she gives you a week to complete after the due date and it's not penalized each day. Many easy ways to get up to 18 points of extra credit. she gives good feedback. She picks great films to discuss about and then 1 book to write about. There will be 3 essays, weekly quizzes, & weekly discussions.
Most of the time, he does not help the student, and various students ask her questions. In response, she said, "I have no information, but she has helped certain students." If you intend to have a class with this professor, be careful of this professor's ethics.
Very questionable teaching ethics: lectures often contain political subjectivity, skewed facts, and the glorification of very problematic people. And if you disagree with her, she will talk down to you for the rest of the semester. There are other English teachers you can take these required courses with, so I suggest avoiding Motaleb entirely.
She was such an amazing professor, she cares about all her students and want them to succeed. I took the four week intercession class and she provided amazing explanations for all the assignments and helped you if you needed it. 10/10 would take her again.
Currently taking Prof. Pegah's English 205 class and I'm so sad this is the last class I can take with her. Flexible attendance, always willing to go over things with students, and has interesting books for us to read. Absolutely love love her class.
I really enjoyed her online class because it was very different than most English classes. The students present a presentation based off of the reading and who the writer is. Essays are graded fairly, she gives a lot of extra credit, and is very organized. She is always there to reach out to and grades on time so you know what you have in the class
Literally the most caring teacher I've had in a while. She's so understanding about life outside of class. Books are quite inspirational too! She's an easy grader and just wants you to excel in life, if you have the option to take her, take her !:)
trust me, you'll want to take her class. shes caring and understanding towards any situation that may come at you. shes passionate about her class and its very engaging, if you ever need help or even to talk to someone abt homework or little chat, she's always there for you. occasionally easy quizzes on weekly readings online and a couple essays.
Professor Pegah is easily the best professor I've ever had. She is so passionate about teaching English. She made me want to take more writing classes because of her class, so if you want a good teacher to fill your English requirements, take Professor Pegah's class, and you will not regret it.
Such a kind and caring professor. She really wants to see you succeed and is always ready to help if you need it. Pretty easy on grading and offers a great amount of extra credit. Would take again!
I found Professor Pegah to be an amazing professor. She cares about her students and wants her students to succeed. She is really nice and respectful towards her students. I found how she conveyed the learning materials to be clear. Overall, Professor Pegah is an amazing professor and I definitely recommend taking her class.
BEST ENGLISH PROFESSOR EVER! She gave a lot of extra credits opportunities. The essays are hard, but if you go to her office hours, she will help you! Best professor ever!
Professor Pegah was a great instructor. We had three essays and 10 weekly quizzes that correlated with assigned reading. The questions given were a bit oddly specific sometimes, making it harder to answer confidently, but overall a manageable work load. I would definitely take her for a future english class.
Omg Professor Pegah was absolutely AMAZING. I would/am 100% taking her again. She is super kind, respectful, understanding, caring, and just all around amazing.
This class was focused specifically on service-learning, and that focused theme made the class a lot more interesting. The books were actually fun to read (graphic novel and non-fictions), and the essays weren't too bad. She offers extra credit opportunities, so make sure to take advantage of that.
This class is more than just an English class. The books you will read offer you wisdom, self reflection, and tools you can implement into your life. The books are amazing reads, and Prof Pegah is easy going and great to get along with. She offers multiple extra credit opportunities throughout the semester, and offers great feedback on essays.
3 papers, no exams, weekly quizzes. DB and the books she has you read are awesome! Interesting content and you learn a lot. She brings in a lot to her classroom and makes you examine the justice system and different things around the world. We didn't get through the last book all the way but I checked it out from my library so I could finish it.
Professor Motaleb is caring and wants you to succeed. She provides lots of extra credit opportunities. I liked the format of the essays, you had a lot of freedom to explore on your own. My only complaint is that it was very social justice heavy, which is interesting to learn at times, but it often felt like too much.
I will certainly continue taking her classes. The instructor was exceptionally prepared for lectures, and her communication was excellent. Furthermore, the course structure was well-organized. Additionally, the feedback on assignments was thorough and insightful, providing clear and valuable guidance on how to enhance my writing skills.
I realize I failed myself. What we learn through failure is the ability to find learning fun and important. I believe we get down on ourselves when we have alot that weighs or clouds our minds. The ability to use positivity helps along with self and others. That's what I learned from giving up and trying again. Henry Ford existed because of this.
The best professor, I took a honors course and she give a lot of options, she gives extra credit all the semester, the papers are heavy but easy to work on. Every class you work with your classmates in different activities (fun). I WOULD LOVE TO TAKE CLASS WITH HER AGAIN.
She was awesome!!!! Always responsive to emails, wanted the best for her students, and is overall a great professor. There are 3 total essays all of which you can revise for a higher grade, quizzes are easy if you do the readings, and classes are super interactive. She is so sweet and was such a great professor to have. Take her if you can!!
Professor Pegah is a true sweetheart. Cares about her students and their success in and out of the classroom. 10/10 would recommend. Do the work and you'll get an A.
Professor Motaleb is an exceptional instructor who genuinely cares about her students. Her lectures are well-organized, and she provides thorough, valuable feedback. The class has a social justice focus, which can be interesting but may feel excessive at times. unstuckstudy is a helpful tool for study prep.
best english professor to ever come across mesa college. i took both her engl 101 and 205 classes and she's so caring and thoughtful. as long as u follow the rubric on the essays, you should be good. and u can resubmit them for a higher grade whenever! take her class in person (even if ur socially anxious) trust me
I absolutely loved her! She was so understanding and made everyone feel welcome! Allowed essay rewrites for better grades and gave great feedback which made rewriting/fixing an essay so much easier.
Professor pegah was so great. She's very caring about her students. The work is very easy as long as you follow the instructions. She gives a lot of extra credit and lots of feedback. If you can definitely take her !!
Class was definitely GOATed, I usually don't enjoy taking English classes, Pegah was super kind and truly understanding. She goes out of her way to support students, offering PLENTY of extra credit opportunities and being flexible with deadlines which made it easier for me. If you have the chance to take her class, do it!! It's one of the best!!
Throughout the course, I saw a huge improvement in my writing, and I'm so grateful for all the amazing feedback she gave me.
Professor Motaleb is awesome. She's caring and accessible outside of class. Her class was a bit challenging for me but if you're an English major or really enjoy literature, i'd recommend her class. Overall great professor!
