Very hard class, highest grade for first test was 76, do not take her under any circumstances
Took for several classes. LOVE this teacher. Kind and understanding to the freshman, not easy academically for honors, but she is so nice she makes you want to work. Lots of visuals, class excursions, fun projects. Her honors Huma class is a real treat.
let me give u a clear idea, she dont have multiple question everything is essay tipe. but test are easy. class present is required because she count that. not bad, i made a B, hope u will made A .
Very interested in what she teaches. The class is easy and fun if you show up and pay attention. No homework, really, aside from simple and interesting projects now and then. She's a little weird but very nice.

Have her in English and though we're writing a paper every single week, they're easy and her "exams".. the "big papers" of the semester are only 3-5 page papers.. not bad at all. best professor i have probably
P. Brown was really helpful and nice. I enjoyed her class. She'll do anything to help you learn tell her somethings not working for you and she'll get rid of it. Really loves opinionated people who talk in class w/ her about the subject. Really loves the information and teaching it.
Took her for creative writing - class was easy, and she is a very nice lady. However she talks solid for the whole class period - 3 hour night classes become strenuous. Still made an A not hard, do your work and you will pass. Bring your ipod though - nothing she talks about is relavent to your grade in the class.
Great professor, loves what she does. Talks about things that tie into your grade. Makes you work, makes you appricate the class. Nice lady, and loves her students. But for Creative Writting, be ready to work.
I wonderful teacher that keeps you involved w/ upcoming assignments, doesn't give a whole lot of outside group class work nor fills you up w/ a whole lot of useless writing but the small writing assignments you have they must be done well and accuratly
She is a great teacher, and will help you if you need it. Makes it interesting.
I took her 2006 winter course. I did learn alot and she was an excellent teacher. BUT, you still have to do all the major papers that the regular class has to do. Make sure you study the study guides. Only the sections she talks about in the class are on the tests, so focus your attention on which sections sh covers the most. Speak up in class.
Bad experience with Dr. Brown. Very confusing, often revising and re-revising her own sentences and assignments. Claims she listens to other opinions but seems very unwilling to accept other ideas, beliefs... Work load was manageable despite constant confusion over the papers and assignmets. Her opinions are very liberally biased.
She was very confussing! She was very stong about her opinions and would try to force them on the students. She does not explain assignments well, and detoured from the syllibus constantly. I would not recomend taking her calsses.
I truly l loved Dr. Brown.. She was an awesome teacher. I would recommend u taking it during Wintermester.. Even though she asssigns alot she isextremely leniant on allof ur work and u willmake an A.
Dr. Brown is a wonderful teacher. She wants her students to do well and will not accept mediocre work. She is available for help. If you read the chapters and do the review sheets, you will pass the exams. Dr.Brown made this a very interesting class. It can be an easy A if you are willing to put forth the effort.
Very nice professor who was easy to understand. Workload was challenging, but managable. She is a great professor!
This class was a real challenge. The need to be challenged is somewhat of a positive but this professor takes it to the next level! Her little reviews are basically like reading guides. This would not be bad if the reading guides wouldn't take upwards of 3+ hours each to do. Challenging tests, NO multiple choice, all free response on bluebooks.
I had her for both 1301 and 1302, and I am taking her for creative writing next semester. She is amazing, and she is a wonderful person and prof. Everyone should take her!!!
I didnt really like her. I didnt like that she required to do this notecard method as a pre-write. it was dumb and did not help me at all, made me more confuse. The essay topics were really difficult too! EX: how did u discover your identity?
She's a pretty cool teacher but there is quite a bit of work to do. She has a passion for teaching and wants her students to succeed, so if you ask her she'll help you out. If you want an interesting teacher and are willing to do a little bit of homework, she's great.
She's a great teacher. The tests are very easy; so long as you do the study guides and look over them, you will make an A in the class.
fun class. test are not hard. made an a. easy gpa booster. nice prof. but you do get a lot of work, which is good because you have more grades. i would recommend this class to just about anyone.... But it kind of reminded me of high shcool
Very smart Prof, Enjoys subject and teaching, Likes ideas. Multiple choice tests, quizes on book reading, very easy grade
It is said all the Humanities' instructors are mean. I think she is a good teacher only if she wouldn't give us so many extra homework. We are not only take one class and cannot always focus on one. If you don't care about your time and grade, please select her! In addition, I'm not a lazy person!!!!!!!!
Don't take her class forever! She gives us a lot of homework, like highschool.
She requires way too much work. Take my advice, and don't pick this teacher.
Yes, she is enthusiastic about her lessions, but she need to structure her classes better. She is difficult to follow when it comes to her instructions and expectations. Also, the in-class work has nothing to to with the actual tests. I didn't learn anything useful in this class.
What a crazy teaher she is! Too much work to do. She didn't talk a lot about the text except painting. The test is hard!
shes not good... not bad. i hate how she cares so much about attendance. shes not too helpful though. if you dont like reading or going to class everyday dont take her.
DONT TAKE HER! overloads you with to much work, this class will consum all of your time and you will hate this class more everytime you go to it...listen to everybody and done take the class!!
This teacher makes no sense in what she wants. i never passed a single paper and i did what she wanted me to do (at least i thought). She gives out too much work. Pretty much she expects everyone to be perfect in their writing. In my class only 2 people passed, everyone else either dropped or failed.Even if you love english do not take her.
This teacher is so annoying. I hated this class more each time i went. She overloads you with so much work and cares so much about attendance.
Must I say I've learned alot from this class! She gave me a GREAT understanding as to where art came from which is helpful for my major in the art field! _HOWEVER_ STUDY HARD FOR HER TESTS! and her Quizzes on WEBCT are useful on her exams!Igot a B in her class! ATTEND CLASSES EVERYDAY N DO ALL HER WORK AND SHOW INTEREST CUZ SHE WILL CUT U SOME SLAC
Yes, this is a difficult class with lots of work. If, however, you are a good student who studies and also happens to be literate (she makes you both read and write--this is college, after all), then making an A in this class really isn't so difficult. She is interesting and engaging. TAKE HER, but only IF you actually want to learn something.
She thinks humanities is the best thing in the world. DO NOT take her class unless you adore humanities.
Professor Brown's interest in literarure and wirting will make her critical about your writing. There are many essays throughout the class that you must write and discussions over the textbook. I'm a good writer so it was easy for me, but if you struggle in structure, think before taking her class. Very nice so long as you try and show improvement.
She gives lot of instruction before the exam, writing paper that will make you even more confused. Many papers to write and for two projects you have to attend a current fine art event and a trip to museum...if you are working part time i would recommend not take her class. And all we talked about in her class is "Paintings" so think b4 taking her.
I loved this class and Dr. Brown is perfect for Humanities. She is very open. Complete each study guide, do the online quizzes (for extra credit but they help!), and review before exams to get the best grade. Study guides are extremely important! Read and re-read her instructions because they are detailed. Dr. Brown is very helpful.
Dr. Brown loves her subject. She is very helpful and kind.Gives a lot of homework, for example, to fill out one of her study guides takes at least 2 hours.Creative projects, papers,musiums,exams,presentattions,research...You will have it all.She is not clear on what she wants and every time you will ask the same question you will get different answ
Dr. Brown is a good teacher. She knows a lot of about humanities and tries to keep it interesting. She will tell you you have to read the book (and you don't) and you have to do the study guides (you do). Also do all the quizzes and come to class b/c these are extra credit and she take attendance. Do the work and all extra credit and you will pass
She is a very nice person and cares about the students. The study guides are important, so make sure you fill them out correctly and study them! She gives a good amount of homework, but if you take the time to apply yourself you will be fine. I worked hard, but I got an A+ on every exam. At the end of the day, you will get the grade you deserve!
(continued from below) I meant to give her a 5 for clarity but accidentally clicked 1... If you are willing to apply yourself and get a deserving grade then take this professor! If you are looking for an easy way out, I would take someone else. But she is a great teacher and she really knows a lot about humanities in general. Great prof!
I had Prof. Brown for Creative Writing. Her enthusiasm is infectious. She is so encouraging. She gives great pointers and tells great stories. She also loves interaction from students and is not one of those teachers that blabs on and on. One warning: it's a lot of writing & reading so don't take if that,s not your thing.
She gives out SO much homework! Only take her is you have a light load or a huge interest in the subject!
Very confusing and unsure about everything. If your smart you will NOT take her.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. Attendance is totally mandatory and she gives way too many assignments. I found it impossible to even pass without my other grades going way down. Avoid this professor at all costs!
Pretty nice professor but can be a little confusing at what exactly she wants at times. She loves what she teaches and makes it interesting. The class is work but it isn't overly difficult. All you have to do is show up, participate, do your work (online quizzes from book) and you can be exempt from the exam. If you don't understand, ask questions!
I got a C in her class; but I didn't read the book or anything. she was very helpful and was always tehre if you neeed any help..
DR. engages u if you take her challenge to have ur mind stretch." Can be clear -if u tell her where u?re lost. Ask Q?s folks -she teaching the unfamiliar. *If u want to take her class? "To be trained for a job that doesn't yet exist?? and to compete globally," then CLAP UR HANDS AND DO IT! SHE MAKES u REVALUATE UR PARADIGM. & you have creative fun.
I took her online English course, I would advise to find yourself another professor she is horrible! Not only does her grading not make sense, I swear she grades due to her emotions that week. Also, she is very confusing on every assignment and is very unorganized. Worst online course I have ever taken.
This is by far my favorite Professor! She does give a lot of assignments, but its all easy and she is very helpful and loves what she teaches, therefore it makes you want to learn what shes talking about. She gives study guides and practice exams for every test so easy! Doesn't do the boring lectures!
Give out a lot of assignments, but they are not hard, you just have to DO them. Mostly "what-I-think" papers. Very easy grader, just do something and you will get an A. I got 110 on most of the stuff and I wasn't always sure what I really was doing.. Interesting lectures, group projects and games!
A great teacher if you are a social person. However, she is NOT EASY AT ALL. For my class I had to follow a ridiculous schedule that I honestly did not understand. If you are a quiet person stay away!! She is the only teacher I have ever dropped. If you find it hard to make friends with classmates don't bother with this teacher because projects are a big deal. She has few organization skills! NOT A WELL STRUCTURED CLASS.
Easy Class Got An A. But She Assigns Useless Work About More Of Art Than The Human Life. And Tons Of Work. TONS. & TONS But Easy. She Doesn't Know How To Use Blackboard Which Is Bad.
A very good teacher. Yes she has several projects which are designed to make you think. Isn't that the point of college. She makes learning fun. Definately take her class if you can!
Awesome Prof! very in-depth class, she is knowledgable (published) and easy, if you do the work. Teaches honors style: does not baby you, instead forces you to think. You must keep up with syllabus (this isn't high school.) My family/friends amazed how well writing improved. If you can't make A, you don't care. Totally Recommend!
She was a good teacher but I didn't find her very helpful online. I had never done online courses before, and everything was my fault even if it was her issue. Once I got everything figured out on my own, things worked out. She's a fair grader and the course was relatively easy.
I took this class Spring 2013 and I had to drop it. The teacher is very nice and helpful, however I simply did not have the time to do the required work. LOTS of outside work (20 hrs community service mandatory)and A LOT of projects that are crazy intensive. Test are all online and you can take them over. Attendance mandatory or failing grade!
She is horrible. Prof Brown does not grade fairly and chooses her favorites when students wanting a little extra points. She treats you like a child and if your essays aren't AMAZING she tells you to go take an english class. DO NOT TAKE HER. She is rude and doesn't care. It's humanities, but some days it's either art appreciation or english 1301.
Not a very good teacher at all. Although she is nice, her directions are unclear, she makes a lot of mistakes including losing grades, and most of the class is analyzing paintings rather than connecting them back to any lesson being learned for humanities. Also, way too much work. Would not recommend.
I took her spring 2013. The class is easy, the material is very boring. Yes her assignments are more work than other teachers but she is a very easy grader. I had the best time in her class and made some new friends. Her test questions are over the internet, just google them when you take her online tests. I would take her again!
very nice lady and grades very easy. while i did notice her assignments are more than other teachers, the assignments are very elementary. all of her tests were online and most with unlimited attempts ... even the final exam. i would recommend her although it seemed she was teaching english in humanities .. barely kept my head up and aced the class
Worst online class I've taken to date. Excessive amount of work and all of it due at the same time. Three different formal papers due on the same weekend and only a week to get them completed. Also she did not get some of the information necessary to do an assignment until a few days before it was due. Do not take this professor.
I took her online English course, I would advise to find yourself another professor she is terrible! Please find a different professor. Not only does her grading not make sense, I swear she grades due to her emotions that week. She is very unorganized, find another professor. Also, she is very confusing on every assignment and is very unorganized. Worst online course I have ever taken. Please find a different professor!
She is one of the most confusing professors I have ever taken. She doesn't organize her papers well, she doesn't explain instructions fully and effectively, and she can be slightly rude at times. She adds unnecessary busy work and proceeds to, again, not explain instructions. Course work is all over the place. If you have a job, do not take online.
Not helpful at all! She doesn't keep up with grading and switches subject constantly. Doesn't go over major assignments but wants it a certain way. I highly regret taking her. She grades paper as a English teacher would and is very rude
Don't take her and don't believe what they write about her. She's rude, forget all the grades and she doesn't response to emails. Lot of work like your taking 3 classes in one. She's not an organised professor.
Took her creative writing class & loved it. Readingwriting assignments (in & out of class) every week, plus two full stories. There are a LOT of assignments, but also a lot of opportunity for extra credit. The cal lender is confusing & she's a bit disorganized but I really like her as a professor, stick with it, she knows what she's talking about.
Her online class lacks in structure. The format of her class was unformulated and I had to look in many different places to find the necessary assignments.
She is terrible. She lacks at giving clear information and is beyond rude. I would recommend that if you see her name do not sign up. She tells you how to write an essay then when you turn it in she fails you. I wish I never took her.
Took her online course for Fall semester. TERRIBLE. The most unclear, contradicting instructions. The writing lab did not even understand what she was asking. She created panic by forgetting to open a midterm section to turnitin. Very chaotic and unorganized on blackboard. I still managed to get an A but I would never recommend her class.
I took Dr. Brown's online class during the Fall Semester, and I thought she was excellent! Her assignments are very detailed, so it can get a little confusing. I would totally take her again! She's such a sweet and kind lady. If you really want to improve your writing skills, you should definitely consider taking her class!
Dr. Peggy Brown is bar none my favorite professor at Collin. I have taken her before. Do yourself a favor. She is going to teach you, if you let her. She is passionate about her work and it shows. Gives you detailed information and lists links you might want. She actually makes it very convenient for you to follow her calendar and grading scale.
Boring as hell and very unorganized
Her class was very unclear, work was all over the place. I did meet with her in person. She usually responded quickly. However, there was work in different places and different assignments that were not made known to me. Overall, I would not take her class again.
Amazing professor. whenever i had a question she would immediately stop to help, and would thoroughly discuss anything i thought was unclear. Very fair. If you do the work, she teaches you everything you would need to know, and does it in a fun and creative way. you can tell that she puts in a lot of effort to make this class as lively as possible.
She saved me from giving up. She is the best ever! I had a learning disability and did not know it, she discovered it and helped me every single day after her class, helped me find what works for me. I am now on the Dean's list and maintain a 3.75. She really cares about teaching. IF YOU NEED HELP-ASK HER!!! IF YOU ARE CONFUSED, ASK HER.
Very harsh when it comes to grading. I understand you need to give feedback to your students but at the same time theirs not reason to make someone feel like they aren't capable of writing . I am genuinely trying to understand her content. I even email her but I never get a response back. I advise you to really think about taking her class.
Made a big deal for emailing her on the wrong email address . Not to mention she didn't even answer the questions I needed assist on. Her feedback brought me to tears because it was so harsh. Not sure what to expect :(
Her online final exam was easy. It was based on the homework so easy A if you do your work. Her essay grading was a little tough, though bearable. It will make you a better writer. I'm not the best essay writer and I finished with a B.
She can be very difficult to understand. When someone asks a question she fails to answer the question and starts talking about random things and leaves the student more confused than before. She grades hards even in small classroom assginments. The most unorganized teacher. Student opinions don't matter.
Professor Brown helped me to drastically improve my writing skills. She always gave plenty of feedback on papers and responded to emails very quickly. She would tell you exactly what you needed to correct on your rough draft before you submitted your final draft. If you follow the textbook guidelines exactly youll easily get an A.
Worst professor ever! She gives you so much more information than you actually need to know. Everyone was maintaining a B in the course until after 6 weeks then our grades fell. She is a tough grader and deducts points for everything. I ended up with a C in her class, and when i retook it the next semester i got an A. Would not recommend.
I had Professor Brown for Intro to Literature, and overall the class was very doable and manageable. The class had discussion boards and response papers (essays), but the real sticklers were the timed quizzes and the capstone paper. The papers and discussion boards were clearly laid out and easy, however, the capstone paper was very confusing.
Only recommend taking this class if you are really good at typing essays. Professor is very strict on grading essays, the average grade for the essays was about a 68. I recommend taking another professor mainly because she is very tough on grading !! This is not an "Easy A" class so you must work very hard to do well in this class!!
Would never take Professor Brown again. Everything was fine in her class until the last month or two. The biggest grade in her class is the capstone project and it was so vague on how it was to be graded. She also didnt tell us anything about the final until the day she opened it. Hated this class. I was making a B until the end.
Easy A as long as you put in the work. Amazing professor and gives lot of extra credits.
Peggy Brown is incompetent/rude. Her syllabus says calendar dates are "firm", but calendar dates changed many times without notice. By week 3 nothing was graded until after the midterm (midterm was changed to after the drop date). Using the restroom during class is not allowed (tried to stop a girl during class), & makes rude comments to students.
She is not very professional in talking to students. I asked her a question about my grades because she does not put them in until after the drop date so you WILL NOT know what you are making until after that date and she responded it my question with another question, completely avoiding my question. She is also very disorganized in her works.
She makes me miserable, she cant answer simple questions. There is a 1,000 point scale and most assignments before the midterm arent worth much. She makes rules but changes her mind. Her grading criteria for big point assignments are graded really hard. I will never take another class with her again. Avoid when possible, she is TERRIBLE.
AVOID AVOID AVOID - Brown would move assignment dates around without notice, &change the value of what grades were worth. You think an assignment's due on Thursday, nope it's Wednesday now. The midterm was originally before the drop date, then when she move it to after the drop date and became indignant saying don't worry about it.
(Took her class before COVID-19) Prof. Brown makes inappropriate comments, like when she couldn't get a dvd to work & said that we should be able to fix it because we're always on our phones & stuff (the college has tech. support) or told us that she couldn't teach unless we are excited. I PAID FOR A SEAT IN THIS CLASS, SO DO YOUR JOB AND TEACH!
she told my classmate to "take an english class". lowers grades for showing up late or missing class. doesn't let you go to the restroom during class, who does that... is that even legal?!? lots of busy work: a weekly 25 question crossword puzzle, read a chapter a week, write 1-2 papers a week, etc. and changes due dates without notice. she's mean!
Professor Brown was very disorganized, and mean. She changed the dates for assignments without prior notice, required students to read the chapter & complete a crossword puzzel. Never had to turn in the crossword puzzel for a grade or use it on a test. Lots of assignments, more than necessary. She wasn't a good teacher.
There were too many assignments, like over 30, seriously. There were journals that we had to turn in at the end of the semester that were just where you write your thoughts. Group projects in class, homework papers, & we were told to fillout crossword puzzles weekly. I thought the crosswords were for a tests, but it was just busy work not a grade.
I read the reviews and thought "She can't be that bad". Big mistake, Peggy Brown is one of the worst professors I've ever had. Bad lectures, and busy-work aside, she repeatedly insulted the class and even bragged about traveling internationally. She had the nerve to tell a bunch of community college students, "You all need to get out & travel".
