go to class or else...because the info is pretty hard
She's a good teacher and makes calc fairly easy to understand, but if you miss class you will be lost. Don't be afraid to ask questions, if you have to take calc 1 I highly recommend her.
My opinion might be biased since I had already taken calc in high school, but she was really easy to understand. Take good notes, they will be your bestfriend when it comes to homework. Overall, awesome.
she is really friendly and enjoys to teach.
Great teacher!!! One of the best Iv had at UNR
Goes step by step, very helpful and easy to follow.
She is awesome... very helpful during and outside of class... she gives practice tests which help... take her if possible... i wish she were teaching calc 2...
Although she became increasingly scatter brained towards the end of the semester she always tried her best and is super nice. I loved her class until I took the last test which was too long for the 50 min. class so I didnt have time to finish, along with everyone else yet she graded the whole thing.
I loved Peggy as a Professor. I'm not good at math and she really helped me understand the topic. Her practice tests really help. Be sure to take good note and study and the class is great.
she was an awesome teacher, she was clear, and helped me whenever I needed it. she is very nice and easy to ask questions. very good teacher.
Pretty good teacher but you have to go to every class to turn in homework. She does a good review before every class. Her test are really easy. There is about 2 hours of homework each week. The math overall is very simple.
she seems like a good teacher that is just flustered with teaching big classes. my guess is shes new to using technology.cant follow her lectures and not learning
Her study guides have the wrong answers and when she gives notes she messes up. I would not reccommend her. Or get a tutor with her.
it was hard to understand anything she was trying to teach because she would try to solve a problem for like an hour, and you would be following, and then she would have the wrong answer in the end. She has no clue how to do anything, but definitly tries really hard. nice woman but terrible teacher.DO NOT take her class!
She's a perfectly nice lady and you can tell she's enthuisiastic about her subject, but if you're taking a math class with a higher amount of students, she doesn't handle it very well. She would work through a problem and then she'd figure out she was doing it wrong. she gave good effort but was more frustrating than anything.
She was a terrible teacher. Each class she would mess up problems and was not understandable. What she taught in class was different from the homework and also different from the test. Don't take this teacher.
Great teacher! She is very funny and can be confused sometimes, but she knows what she is doing and thoroughly explains the material. I highly recommend her for math especially if you are not that good at it.
she is great. quarky but energetic class is easy and she helped me understand math
peggy is cute and fun and does a good job of teaching. subject is fairly easy and she relates it very well to business material. her class is easy a if you study and do hw. i would definitely take her again
She is willing to give you her all if you do the same!!!
She does a great job at explaining the lessons to the large lecture hall. It's as if the class is one of only 30 students. Also, she has a quirky sense of humor.
In my opinion she is very good. i had her my freshman year and loved the class. She knew how to teach and test on the same level, i could probaply assume that she is the same in most of her classes
In my opinion she is very good. i had her my freshman year and loved the class. She knew how to teach and test on the same level, i could probably assume that she is the same in most of her classes
covers alot of material quickly. explains the work pretty well, and its possible to get a good grade by just taking notes and going to the exam review. she is recomendable, just know you have to go to class and pay good attention.
I am absolutely horrible at math but in this class i have never understood math so clearly. Business Calc is great because Peggy puts everything into real life business situations. This class is not easy and you HAVE to go to class everyday or else youre behind. You get extra credit for SI sessions which also help a ton. GREAT TEACHER!
I love Lakey, she is an extremely nice and very brilliant professor. She makes sure you understand what she is teaching. Her SI sessions are all extra credit too, which help a lot on the tests.
Great at teaching! she makes a horrible subject area easily understandable. the only thing is she teaches rediculously fast, theres alot to cover in her class so you have to pay attention! go to class because if you miss lessons you miss a lot. Study go to class and do the homework, this math class that's supposed to be killer isn't really hard.
Such a hard class. I did not understand what was going on and I'm normally pretty good at math. The tests are hard so study! For one test it seemed most of the class failed...it could be a hint for how she teaches.
Lakey consistently jumps around in the material making it difficult to understand.
Very enthusiastic but fails to communicate clearly. More irritating than that, were her frequent mistakes. Not only did she mess up problems while doing them but also made errors in online work. Two of the biggest were realizing she had the wrong date for the final, and had the wrong percentages to calculate our final grade.
Nice lady, but makes way too many mistakes. Kids in class have to correct her. She weighted all our grades incorrectly then changed at the end of the semester and all many grades dropped. Find a study group if you take her.
Peggy is such a nice person, but I just did not enjoy her class. She made a lot of mistakes during lectures which made me more confused. She runs through the material too quickly. The tests aren't too bad, but I practically taught myself the material.
Terrible teacher. She doesn't help with anything, never answers emails and is so confusing when teaching the material. I have to re-take the class because I received a D in the course. To make it worse, when I asked to review my final to see what I missed, she did not even bother responding. Don't take her if you want higher than a C.
Peggy is a very nice lady. I thought she was pretty good professor. She is much better than Johnson who teachers 123 in the spring where she teaches in the fall.
Teacher would give you wrong formula, after getting everything wrong in MyMathLab then she email you correct one. She is not a good teacher, also no good at grading students. You should check you exam you received, I tell you from experience she marked me down for two question(were actually right)Told her to fix it, raised it raised from 69%-86%.
Please! Please! Please! do not take this class. Even though i tried very hard, i always had a D in this class. She is not help full at all. Always does the question wrong and when asked for clarification, she says "OH!you guys know how to do it"? One time i emailed her and she replied me that university is hard and i better step up my game.
She matches the exact definition of incompetent. Cannot complete problems correctly in class to save her life. Uploads study guides only ONE day before the exams. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS
Great teacher, go in for help! She is very helpful and nice.
She's a wonderful professor. You definitely need to pay attention during her class to keep up with her fast pace. The homework is confusing because of the site not her. She emails back quickly and is super friendly and flexible. If you have trouble with her assignment and want more points, she gives them to you.
Peggy is a fantastic instructor and she attempts to help you as much as she can if you talk to her. I accidentally slept through a test and I talked to her about it, she let me retake the test and even helped me on a problem. I don't understand these other bad reviews. If you just talk to her she will help you with any questions.
This class was challenging for me. The tests are a lot harder than the homework and study guides. Lakey is a great person and tries to engage her students, but math in a lecture sized class is just hard overall. She wants to help you and replies back to emails. The TA was helpful but he's a little hard to understand.
Coming from Johnson from 126R, Lakey is like the best thing that could happen to you! Although the material is a little tough and fast paced, she goes out of her way to help you succeed. I got a better grade and understood more in 176 than 126R because of her. Highly recommended.
Lakey is very helpful and answers any and all questions you might have, but her lectures move quickly and she makes a lot of little mistakes, which is confusing. All of the homework is done online. The textbook is only essential to passing because you need it to access MyMathLab online to do the homework.
If you're good at math already, this is doable. If you have to learn NEW material? Good luck. You'e better learning straight out of the book. Going to her lectures will CONFUSE you more than not showing at all. Don't bother buying the text book. A lot of this class is luck. You're kinda on your own here.
Had to retake this class... it was very difficult. I remember one of our tests averages was a 62.
You will find yourself sitting in class and looking at the problems she writing and how she's solving them and realize she is completely wrong. This happened 1-3 a class. then you'll go to review for a quiz using a study guide provided by here and you'll realize all the answers are wrong! You'll get a test back and realize your grade is wrong!
She is really funny and a total goof. Their is a lot of homework every week but it is very easy. There is 2 tests, a final, and 2 written assignments. Easy and kinda fun class. Just buy the online book
I came to class everyday, went to the tutoring center as much as possible, got 100% on all my quizzes and homework, and I still did not do so hot on the tests. I tried my hardest in this class and the study guides were not that useful for the actual test. She is a nice lady but I would avoid if you can if you are not a math person. It's doable tho
The tests are hard, because they are multiple choice and the answers are very similar. She is very helpful however. Go to her office hours! She will help you a lot. She does mess up on problems in class, but she is only human and everyone messes up. She is however very helpful and her TA is really good. Her quizzes and homework are super easy too.
She was such a sweet lady and she always wants to help you and make you understand. However, she is so unclear. The lectures were pretty scattered and hard to follow. The class seemed pretty unorganized. But as a person, she's great! Also, don't underestimate this class. The material is harder than it sounds in the description.
Super energy in class. Fast notes, study BEFORE the lecture, be familiar with the math follow the syllabus, stay a day ahead & you'll have the right questions to ask. Very helpful if you visit during office hrs or email pix of your work w question attached. VERY SWEET Lady with silly humor wrapped up in a POSITIVE ENERGY!! Do all the homework!!!
Peggy makes easy material a lot harder than it needs to be. She often would be working out an example on the board and at the end realize she did the entire thing wrong. She then would go on and tell us to look up the answer on our own without working out another example. Look for other professors first.
Peggy quickly became one of my favorite professors. I had her for Math122 and Math123. Homework is online and in the book, usually there's homework each time there's class, so it's kind of a lot, but it's never difficult. I did really well in this class and I believe it's because Peggy is always there to help and wants to see us succeed.
Peggy is proficient at what she does and knows the material well. Her explanations are pretty a little hard to understand. Homework is easy, but her tests are completely different from the homework. One quiz per week, and not many exams. Expect quizzes and test to be much harder than what you do in class.
Very enthusiastic in class during lectures. Tests aren't that hard, study and you'll do fine.
Peggy is cute and knows her math. Although, beware because she does mess up sometimes (we all do) and she knows it, so if she makes a mistake simply correct her. I thought she was a good math teacher because she did problems step by step and the homework and study guides were EXACTLY like the stuff on the tests!!
Peggy Lakey is quite possibly the least clear teacher I have had. While teaching calculus she messes up frequently, does not explain her work and skips over essential portions of many problems. I do not recommend taking any of her classes, ever.
I really liked Peggy and she made math easy for me. Sometimes she got a little confusing but for the most part she was very helpful. I would recommend taking her.
I loved Peggy Lakey as my Math 176 professor. She is always in a good mood and really wants her students to pass. There are many homework assignments, quizzes, and tests but that's how all math classes are. You do have to put a lot of effort into this class since its a calculus class.
Just go to class and take the notes. Do not play on your phone because she is a fast writer. You look down for a second and she's already moved onto the next problem. She gives tons of examples, and she will answer any question you have. She is very understanding as well when it comes to missing homework, or online quizzes
I usually hate math, but Lakey made my math 176 class fun. She is a very nice and approachable professor. Not a very difficult class.
Peggy does a really good job explaining the concepts, however it can be confusing at times because she tries to go fast and tends to mix up numbers. Her tests are fairly short and as long as you do the practice exams its nearly impossible to not get a high B on the exams.
This was not an easy A class, however it was still an easy class. There is homework every week, and there are 3-4 tests through the semester. Overall it was not a bad class at all. I highly recommend going to class. It is easier hearing it explained than just reading the book.
Peggy is an amazing professor. She's beyond funny and she's such a sweet person. She is very understanding and helps out in any way she can. The quizzes are normally with partners and not hard at all. As long as you pay attention and do the homework, this class isn't hard.
Professor Lakey is the best Math teacher I've ever had and the entire class loves her. She very fair when it comes to grades and is always there to help out.
Professor Lakey is absolutely adorable. She really truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. The class is pretty test heavy but if you work hard at it you will pass.
one of the most accessible professors I've had 10/10
Worst math Professor I've ever had. She's one of those people who likes to go through problems as fast as she can in an effort impress her students or something, which I hate. She doesn't explain anything very well and she writes at 100mph. Bring a recording device because there's no way you can keep up with her examples as she goes.
Worst my professor I've ever had. I'd go as far to say she's the worst educator I've ever witnessed. She goes through her lectures as fast as she can in order to show you how smart she is. Then at the end of an absurdly complex problem she will say, "you guys got that?" And then moves on again without giving you a chance to say "No!"
She's one of those people who are very intelligent in her field of study, and rather than teaching she likes to display her mastery of the subject. Goes through problems so fast that you can't keep up with.
Second time having this professor and she really cares about if we understand the information. She conveys with lecture with many examples that help us understand each topic she teaches. She talks a little fast but if you ask her to slow down she will. Course is hard but she definitely makes it easier. Definitely recommend.
I loved taking this class and loved this professor. Not only was she easy to understand but she cares a lot about her students understanding the material. Definitely take her if you ever have the chance. She does make a lot of mistakes in class but she always fixes them.
Peggy is an awesome teacher. I highly recommend her Math 122 class. She cares about her students and how well they are understanding the material.
She is a very nice and helpful woman, but an awful teacher. She moves extremely quickly and doesn't stop for clarification or explanation. She also makes 4+ errors in her instruction every day that will completely mess up your notes and irritate you to no end. Do not take this class
Ms. Lakey was the best math teacher I've ever had! She was amazing and funny! She tries her best to make sure you understand and if you don't or need extra help they have a tutor center and she has office hours that I took advantage of 2 times a week and she was always helpful! If math is difficult, it's up to the student to put in the effort.
Professor Lakey is great at teaching this course. She really tries to help students understand the material and her exams were reasonable with the material covered prior. The book is necessary only for the practice problems used for exams. She's a great professor but don't underestimate this class if you slack it can hard real quick.
Professor Lakey is so sweet! She really cares about what she is teaching and wants to make sure that you as the student are understanding what she lectures. She is amazing and I highly recommend her! She is very understanding.
She's one of the best professors I've had. She's knowledgable and does a good job of making the material easy to learn. She also gives a lot of extra credit opportunities which is always nice.
She was knowledgeable, but rushed through lectures. Attendance isnt mandatory, but be ready to spend at least 2-3 hours on homework each night. Also has you take a ton of exams.
Peggy is really kind and you can tell that she cares about the subject that she teaches. This class in it of itself is really strange and different than any other math that you will ever take. The only thing is that she often comes into class pretty flustered and makes a few mistakes along the way.
Professor Lakey definitely makes a math lecture more entertaining than it could be, however I would beware of her a little if you get confused easily. She did have a habit of making a lot of mistakes during her lectures, so for me it was difficult at times to follow along. Still, she's very friendly and does care about her students.
I understand teachers sometimes mess up at math, but a student was correcting her at least once every class. She didn't work through all her examples, and the tests were nothing like the notes or homework.
