Questions during lecture are easy but when test time comes around the questions are much harder than anything taught.
what is taught in lecture is different from what's in the book. what's on the tests are different from what is in lecture and the book. if you're going to take this class do the practice online LOTS.
She is very informative but her quizzes and tests are pretty difficult, the only thing that saved me was going to her review sessions
This lady is a moron! what she teaches and whats on the test is completely different. I had to spend God knows how much money on tutors to pass this class. The book for this class does not help so save your money... I hate her what a waste of my time in that class. Homework quizzes like crazy
She is a very good teacher. Her pratice quizes online are the excat same as her normal quizes except with different numbers
No Comments
She likes to go over things rather quickly, sometimes skipping steps. Also, not everything on the quiz is taught in class. She is very helpful during her office hours and is always willing to help in person.
She is very helpful after class and during office hours. As long as you do the practice problems online you'll be fine.
she was a wonderful teacher even though she took notes at a fast pace. She was very helpful during her office hours and made herself very available. Her tests were exactly the same as the practice tests on Einstein which makes them extremely easy. I got an A in the class with very little effort.
well...class goes by fast. taking notes is very fast paced...she often skips steps and doesnt really go over things twice. if you like going to help sessions then shes a good teacher..otherwise its a lot of figuring things out on your own
Seems very nice, on your own when it comes to learning from her quick pace notes. Online problems, quizes, and practice are best way to learn for the test. very close to the same.
Great teacher, easy to understand and tests and quizes are really easy as long as you take the practice ones online.
Dr. Lenoir is so easy and the class goes by really fast. If you just do the practice quizzes/tests online, the tests are a breeze. She explains thinks pretty well except she goes kind of fast. Overall, definitely take her College Algebra class. (it's funny when she calls mirror, "mirra")
Great teacher, very clear and concise notes. Plenty of extra help available online. Expect HW Quizes (about a week to do it), Bonus Quizes, Recitation Quizes, and three tests. Gives bonus points for attendance in class, as well as Bonus Pop Quizes. Highly Recommended!
Dr.Lenoir was a fabulous teacher.I am not really a person who enjoys math, but Dr. Lenoir truly made my first semester of math bearable. Her humor and patience while teaching really helped to engage her students.I really appreciate the way she went out of her way to help her students in different ways!
GREAT TEACHER! Dr. Lenior actually made me somewhat interested in math. In a class w/ well over 200 students, she made me feel like I recieved a lot of attention by her willingess to answer one on one questions during lecture. I would love to have her as a teacher again.
She is a very good teacher. She is clear and easy to understand. I would defiantly take her class again
Literally my favorite teacher since I have been here. She is absolutely amazing and will even offer EXTRA EXTRA help sessions if needed. Amazing you must have her!
Her lectures are great because she gives out effective, clear notes. Her numbering system (for the different chapters and sections) is great. She gives out all kinds of extra points, make sure you take advantage of all of them. But otherwise, in one semester i learned everything i DIDNT GET in two YEARS of HS math. She's amazing. TAKE HER!
Great teacher! She gives many examples during lectures which helps a lot, bonus and hmwk quizzes really helpful and she's always available for extra if you need extra help... all around wonderful instructor, I would definately take her again:)
Difficult class. Don't buy the text book-- strictly egrade/online. Gives extra credit although doesn't help grade very much. Teacher very helpful.
...she went extremely fast and just thought it was ludacris when kids asked questions. say someone didnt quite get the material-she would laugh and so would her "pet" students down in front. really structured-i mean if you like math-have at it
I don't like math so this class was harder to me than others. So much extra credit- going to class, bonus quizzes, and some rare in class quizzes. Tests are basically questions from quizzes. No reason not to do well in this class, but this professor is kind of useless. She would've have done better in a smaller class- she seems very one-on-one.
She gets the material covered, but doesn't stop to help if there are questions.
went to class about once every other week, studied for the test, and got an A in the class. gives out tons of extra credit and gives out more test reviews and review sessions than you could imagine.
She expects a lot of you from the class but she is very organized and very willing to help. Nice lady. The textbook is $150 so if you print out the notes everyday, I wouldnt suggest getting the book.
A very clear teacher. She explains problems well and is no nonsense. She will work continuously to the end of class every day.
She is a really clear and concise teacher she gives you a lot of extra credit, great teacher
very nice. lost of extra credit. helps you if you only ask. great easy class.
Tests can be taken twice, homework up to three times. PRS is required but the attendance points go towards your quiz grades so its not mandatory to attend class. Easy A.
I took her college algebra class in the summer. Penny Lenoir was extremely helpful, unfortunately I did not go that much because I am, um, a whiz at math. Wow that was conceited! Sometimes you are inundated with quizes, though that could just be the summer term. Her notes are thorough and she is very concise. Great Teacher! BOOK NOT REQUIRED!
I love her!!! She's amazing and cares about her students. Go to class and you'll be fine. She gives bonus points which help out. If it wasnt for the class being at 8am, it would be perfect
She's super easy, and she explains everything really really well. There are a million hw quizzes to do online: but they are open book, you get three chances, and an ample amount of time, so its not overwhelming. She gives out a lot of extra credit also. Sit in the balcony, it'll make the class go by a lot faster. love her, and recommend her.
Some found the material hard, but i found it really easy. I took notes when material came up that I hadnt remembered from high school, otherwise I just sat there and listened. Book not needed at all. Online help, quizes and bonus points.
She is by far the best math teacher on the planet. The class has over 200 students but she makes it feel like its like 10 because she gets thru the lessons and isalways willing to help her students. Most math teachers zoom thru material & she does, but she does it in a way that's easy 2 understand. Amazing teacher, definitely would take her again!
oh, yea we dont ever use the textbook so don't bother wasting ur money on it. I havent even taken mine out of the plastic yet....lol
She is a great teacher. The material can seem confusing but she will do it until you understand and is always willing to help students out of class. Attendance is mandatory but book is not just do the online practice. I recommend this teacher.
She's very organized and provides you with lots of extra credit opportunities. Contrary to what she sometimes says, she does take questions during class and is very helpful and respectful. While she does tend to move very fast, she's very good at getting the material across clearly. Probably the best math teacher I've ever had.
Amazing teacher! I loved her teaching style. She is very brief and to the point, and easy to understand. I had absolutely no trouble in this class. Just take notes! You don't even need the book because there is online practice, and also video clips of her working problems step by step! Would definitely take her class again!!!
She makes everything seem very simple. She is a great teacher!
good teacher. She made it very easy to get a good grade if you did everything she asked you to, which wasnt much or wasn't too difficult. The tests and quizzes were never a shock, i always felt as if she prepared us veryy well
For a summer term where youre learning 18 weeks of material in 6 weeks, she is great. she goes quickly but shes very understanding and comprehensible. you have homework quizzes and regular quizzes alot and there were 3 tests. HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED!!!
Such an awesome professor! She goes quickly but is very clear in her explanations! I am horrible at math but did well for the semester. If you need help, USE HER OFFICE HOURS! I went every week and they helped me SOOOO much! I would recommend her to anyone taking MAC1105 :)
Doesn't really help outside of class. The material itself is easy, basically a review from high school
Very rude in the lecture class and her notes are horrible. The material can be fairly easy if you take advantage of resources outside of the class and teacher. Don't buy the textbook.
dreaded going to class. not the best teacher in the world but ok
Faced with the decision to take her again, not going to. Rude teacher, dreaded class. did decent
amazing teacher. goes over tons of examples in class. can get kind of dry but very clear. tons of extra credit and the online assignments help a lot. easy A
she was pretty good with explaining the material. gave lots of extra credit and had online videos so you can look back on. all in all she was a decent teacher not that best but then again its a class of 500.
I liked her class alot and she was alays willling to help
Pretty easy, you first go over some basic Algebra, then get into the harder stuff but she explains it clearly and constantly has office hours. You have three chances on homework quizzes. You could also take the test twice and she would average out the grades.
EXTREMELY helpful. Holds office hours nearly everyday of the week and has review sessions for 2+ hours on Sundays before the test. There's no need for the book, egrade will suffice. Her class was at 8 am this semester, but if you aren't the best at math or trig, then taking the early class is definitely worth it.
Best math teacher in the world! She has office hours practically everyday so if you're failing it is because you don't go to class or don't pay attention. She'll make you love math, seriously. I've had her for two semesters (Mac 1105 & 1140) and I look forward to the third (Mac1114).
I'm already pretty bad at math and I'm really not getting better with her help. The TA's are all asian people we can't understand and LeNoir always has these distracting rings on her fingers. She goes pretty quickly and I went to her office hours and she was just plain rude.
She is awesome!! explains things clearly..will go over things multiple times..gives plenty of opportunities to come get help. i'm awful at math and got an A in both algebra and precalc with her. I'd take her for every math class if she taught it. practice e-grade, go to class, do the homeworks til you get a good grade and you'll do just fine
She is the best math teacher I have ever had. She explains everything perfectly & includes so many examples in her notes. If you ever need help, go to her office hours; it's worth it. Attendance is mandatory & all of the lessons are online, so don't waste money & buy the text book. I would definitely take a class with her again.
She was an ok prof. her class was sooo boring but as long as you actually attend class and pay attention occasionally you should pass. She likes to go over things a whole bunch of times so if you do not get it the first time she'll gladly go over it again.
Amazing Teacher, explains everything extremely well.
Hands down the best math teacher at FSU. I hate math and she made it really simple and easy to understand.
I'm horrible at math, really I am. But she made everything SO easy. But that doesn't mean you don't have to do the work. As long as you do the homework and practice regularly, you'll be fine. She explains everything perfectly. Hands down the best math teacher I've ever had. Take her class!!
Algebra is hard in general for me. If you do the eGrades and go on russell and practice you should pass. She holds a lot of office hours outside of classy. She may come off as sassy but don't be scared of her study hours she is amazing,
Dr. Lenoir is probably one of the best professors I have had thus far. She's an awesome teacher, clear, to the point, knows everything there is to know about math. As long as you do the practice on eGrade and go to class and pay attention like any other class, you've got yourself an easy A.
She was a great math teacher but the material was overwhelming at times and she rushed through too many sections. Otherwise the parts she did do at an acceptable pace was very understandable.
Great teacher! She does so many examples asks if you have questions and will go step by step if you do! She does exam reviews outside of class and posts practice exams!
Great teacher. Explains everything. Go to class and practice on egrade and you won't have trouble.
Not very friendly at all. Had her over summer. She wouldn't let me reschedule a test because of a funeral. Avoid her like the plague, she is not very nice.
Dr. Lenoir is without a doubt the best math teacher I have ever had. She does tons of examples in class and really makes sure you understand everything if you put forth an effort. Trig is a hard class regardless, but she makes it bearable. She randomly takes attendance so go to class, but trig is one of those classes you have to go to anyways.
she really sets you up to get the A. so many practices available if you use the resources she gives you (russell practice) it is very easy tp do well
She is a very good teacher, and explains the material well. But is not very nice or personable.
Great professor. She's fair, but don't expect her to pander to you or hold your hand. To do well in this class, you have to put in the work. I took the class for granted 'cos I was doing well on the quizzes. Needless to say, I made Cs on the 2 unit exams, but scored a 100% on the final, making an A in the class. Don't take the class for granted.
If you aren't great at math then it's a gamble taking her. She explains things clearly in class, but she is very stern and rude in person. Her HW quizzes aren't that hard, but only count for 10% of your grade, so do well on the unit test. For me passing the class came down to the final which I studied for a total of 3 days non-stop and got a 70 on.
Trig is two credit hours and LeNoir doesn't teach the diet version, so go to every single class and be prepared to be writing the entire hour straight. She's extremely competent and was really nice to me when I talked to her in person, but I can see her having a low tolerance for slacking off. Take her if you have to take calc. Would take again!
This class is pretty hard so I'd attend every class no matter the teacher. With her, be prepared to take notes the whole time. She gives very thorough examples but the material is just hard. She's also not the nicest and will not hold your hand through this course but the notes and online examples really help.
I'm not very gifted at math and didn't do the Homework that is done online. If I had, I would have had a much better grade than the D I received. She explains things clearly and makes sure you understand. Just don't leave her class. She will counter disrespect with cold-heartedness. A good professor overall.
She was super helpful at office hours and will explain something to you until you understand it. She is very clear in class and an A is definitely possible if you study
She is very clear in teaching, and on instructions. She posts announcements of whats going on in the class so there not excuses to not know what is going on. Test are exactly like the practice. And I have never had to go to her office hours because she stays for 30 minutes after every class just to answer questions.
She is literally the best math teacher I've ever had. She has a low tolerance for slacking off, and you really don't want to skip class if you're not good at math because she most definitely will not help you if you don't make an effort. She's really nice and she genuinely wants you to do well. I would take her class again in a heart beat!
Math is not my subject at all but she's a great teacher! She'll help you during her office hours but it is true, she has a no nonsense attitude which can come off wrong but besides that she curved my grade in the end and helped me pass! Just show her that you're trying and you'll be fine :)
Great teacher. Go to class because her notes show you how to do all the problems. Make sure you practice egrade everyday or you will struggle. I took her for college algebra, trig, and precalc and got A's in all of them because I practiced egrade 2 times a day.
She is the best math teacher I've ever had. I would recommend going to every class, because she moves rather quickly. She doesn't use a book. Her quizzes come directly from the notes. Ms. Lenoir emails you constantly keeping you updated with any new info. She does not put up with nonsense, but she will help you if you ask. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Prof. Lenoir is a great teacher. She always explains everything fully, goes over examples in class, and gives us all the material we need to pass the tests/quizzes. Don't take her class if you are an avid skipper b/c you will miss a lot of material in one day. Study everyday with the online prac sites and you'll do well in this class.
She is a really good teacher and very helpful after class she has 15 minutes or so where she lets people bring up questions and she will help you with them. I definitely recommend her. At the same time I always went to class and I actually practiced the problems.
She goes through everything in detail, and there are outside sources that she provides to also use for studying. Good teacher, but will yell at you if you try to leave class early.
She is extremely rude and not a very nice person. Not helpful, avoid her if you can. The class required a lot of work and was very difficult if you missed a class.
First off, this is by no means an easy class, and Dr. Lenoir doesn't do any favours to make it easier. I found her to be quite harsh and unapproachable, and I felt that she could have done a better job at preparing us for the final, especially regarding the material covered during the last two weeks of class. I would recommend another teacher.
Your options for taking MAC1114 are Grigorian and Lenoir. Neither of these professors are ideal for this class, but your best bet is taking Lenoir. The exam sucks and can destroy your grade in the blink of an eye so beware.
She makes you print the whole textbook. Probably spent more money on printer paper and ink than I would on a textbook. I eventually stopped going because it was pointless. If you can pass the online hw then you can pass the lab quizzes. I missed 1 hw, 1 lab quiz, and didn't go the 2nd half of the semester but still passed. And I suck at math.
Sweet lady, explains everything extremely well and takes her time. She gives you step by step instructions and makes everything seem pretty easy.
LeNoir makes this class so easy for anyone in it. The math is easy enough for you to teach yourself in an hour, with just the practice questions, but if you have trouble, she's really awesome with helping. She communicates very clearly so if you do go to class, you'll really understand the info.
Okay teacher but she doesn't do examples that are like the ones on the tests and quizzes. I never missed a class but I found it difficult
I went to her for help and she didn't notice me for 10 minutes then when I asked for help she basically told me I was stupid for not having memorized everything. She wouldn't help me. Very rude and preoccupied.
Excellent Professor, I would certainly choose her again. Math is certainly not my strongest subject however, because of her willingness to help, her extended help sessions, office hours, and personable attitude I turned my whole semester around and started making A's! She is always willing to help you and now Trig is my favorite math subject!
Penny Lenoir is one of the most unhelpful and rude teachers I've ever encountered. She does not care about students at all and has no problem showing that. She is very self centered and uncaring. Do not recommend ever!!
She tells you up front you need to put in hours. The quizzes and tests are just like the practice on egrade. There's a lot of memorization. She helps a lot if you go to her office hours but you have to make sure you have everything that needs to be memorized memorized first. Her lectures aren't that boring and she makes everything simple.
She moves super quickly during class.
Must go to class - Attendance taken randomly No curve on class Not easy to approach with questions - somewhat rude Offers "Q&A" sessions that are somewhat helpful Quizzes and tests are tough MUST spend HOURS studying or there is no chance in passing Honestly, I would not take her again. I would NEVER recommend her class to a friend
This class was a joke. I got 100s on both tests and a 112 on the final and I hate math so I definitely recommend taking this class with her because she is very nice and easy!
Egrade will be the end of you. Study everything at the end of lecture, DONT take with precalc at the same time or you're signing up for certain death. Trig sucks but LeNoir is not bad, work hard in the class for serious.
She's mean. But I learned a lot and ended up with a great result. You should be fine, just study a lot. Go to Math Lab in the Johnston building, office hours on occasions, and don't brush off tests. Even if you're doing great on the quizes, it's all about the tests. So work hard and you'll do fine.
Professor is good and gives you enough resources to do well. Gives great resources -- if you practice, you WILL do well. Easy A if you practice and review the formulasconcepts. Your typical math class. Everything is based on Einstein program, making things easier. Book isnt needed. Gives sporadic attendance quizzes.
Very easy class even for someone who doesn't like or excel at math. Professor is extremely knowledgable and as long as you show up and pay attention you should get an easy A
Definitely take her!! As someone who isn't good at math, I did well in this class because of Dr. LeNoir! She is very clear on what she expects from you, and she gives a ton examples, so you'll definitely get it by the end of the lecture! The tests aren't too bad and overall its a pretty easy class!
First of all this woman wears such cool outfits every day! But she is very kind but has her way of doing things for sure. It worked for me, and I think she's a wonderful teacher. She's very clear and makes sure everyone understands the material. Super easy class and super easy teacher, not too fun of a class but she is great at what she does!
She holds ok lectures, but her one-on-one is fantastic. She seems unapproachable at first, but one office hour visit will have you coming back, justgive her a chance. She knows there is a lot of material in the class and its not entirely easy, but she had more office hourshelp sessions than any other professor I had this semester, great class.
Lenoir's class isn't easy but she stays 15 minutes after every class for questions and offers review sessions before each exam. You get bonus points for random participation grades, so showing up to class helps. I took trig along with precalc and did not have too much difficulty keeping up with both classes.
love love love Penny, very knowledgeable would strongly recommend!
Dr. Lenoir's class was very tough, but not to the point where it's impossible to pass. It is a MUST to study at least an hour each day so you aren't behind on learning the coursework and can pass each quiz (which are given every week). Overall, she is extremely helpful and is very clear of what she expects. I would definitely take her again!
Dr. LeNoir's fashion is on point! She is a very smart, sweet lady who really knows a lot about math. You need to show up to class and practice on your own a lot, or you won't pass. This class is a lot of memorization of formulas. Would definitely recommend taking her!
Trig is no joke and you will not get a good grade if you don't spend time and effort for this class. Go to her help sessions, office hours, and class any chance you get. It's what helped me get a good grade for her class. She's really helpful if you tell her specifically what you need help on and has lots of office hours. I recommend her for Trig.
She's not a bad professor, teaching-wise, but she is probably the rudest professor I ever met. I've never been so disrespected by a professor before when visiting office hours. Just make sure you study hard & go to her help sessions to receive a good grade & that way you won't have to go to her office hours. Hopefully no one goes through what I did
She warns you in the beginning of the semester that you MUST commit time and effort into this class, or you won't pass (take this seriously). Math has always been my best subject and I struggled to make a B in this class. I would recommend going to class and staying the last 25 minutes for her Q&A session. Overall a good teacher and wants to help
Just because the class is 2 credits DO NOT take it lightly! I thought the class would be a joke, but it was the opposite. Make sure you do the practice quiz reviews after every class, and you'll be prepared for the weekly quizzes. Only 2 tests all semester so there is no grace if you mess up on either. Don't buy the textbook.
Any College Algebra class will seem challenging but after reviewing material from other professors, Lenoir is teaching some of her students a harder way of finding answers to questions. She only offers one extra credit, attendance. She takes it randomly throughout the semester. HARD CLASS but if you like straight forward professors take her.
She was very helpful. She stayed 30 mins after each class for those who needed more help and held a help session once a week. It is not an easy class but she makes sure you learn.
Not that bad of a professor. She's 50/50. Some students like her and some don't. You have to go to class! She's works pretty fast during lectures but you'll get use to it. Homework quizzes every week. Three tests with retests, a couple quizzes in labs, and a final exam that cumulative. Math isn't everyone strong point, so if you're bad, don't take
This class was boring, but easy to pass. The professor posts the notes online, so all you have to do is print them out and bring them to class to follow along with (no textbook required). LeNoir speaks clearly and explains things in a way that is very simple to understand. She is also very willing to help students who are confused or need help.
Amazing teacher, but taking Analytical Trigonometry with her requires a LOT of study time, especially if you want an A. The material is not insanely difficult, but if you do not practice practically everyday even if it's only for an hour or so, you will not do well in quizzes and tests. You will definitely know the heck out of trig after this!
Takes random attendance with in-class quizzes. She won't excuse you for in-class credit even with documentation, and there are no makeups on quizzes EVEN IF YOU HAVE DOCUMENTATION for your absence. I went in for help and she was condescending. Despite her attitude, overall an easy course if you attend class.
She teaches you the basics and more complicated versions of it are on the tests/quizzes. From what I can tell, no trig teachers are particularly good at fsu, so I guess she's okay.
Lenoir has amazing lectures, she is able to make the material very clear nd easy. She does many examples of each type of question and has lots of office hours/help room hours and is more than happy to help you not only do the problem but understand the concept. Only 2 tests though and a quiz every week. S
Lenoir is amazing. She is 100000000000x better than grigorian. She makes the lectures super clear and does multiple examples of each type of problem. Has lots of help room hours. I would highly recommend anyone to take Trig with her.
She is a great teacher and moves at a fair pace. eGrade is the problem because it would mark questions wrong if it's written a certain type of way. But go to office hours if confused because she will help. There are weekly homework/ quizzes and 3 tests and a cumulative final. Gives extra credit based on attendance randomly
She was awesome. Egrade is terrible but if you have an issue just go to her office hours and she's always willing to work with you. Go to her help hours, pass sesh's and practice a lot. She offered plenty of incentives to help your grade. I liked her teaching style. She uses color coded notes which is how I take notes so I thought it was helpful.
I am the absolute worst at math, had to drop MAC1105 before, retook it with her and got an A on every test! Not kidding, show up every day and listen to the lady and you'll be fine. She's very straight-forward and you must adapt but it's well worth it.
I haven't even met this professor, yet I just printed 95 pages of lecture notes. Waste of paper, money, patience, time, and ink. Needs to be reported to the environmental group on campus for how much paper we have to print.
This was a huge class, so it was hard to get close to her, but she seemed really knowledgeable.
Although I don't appreciate the fact that we have to print out almost 200 pages worth of notes for this course, it is cheaper than buying a textbook. Also, she is very thorough and is color coded which I find helpful, especially at the end of Unit 1 (there are two units).
Very nice lady, and definitely wants to help you if you're struggling. Not much homework, but there's a quiz lab every week. Bad idea to miss or skip them. She also will ALWAYS take sick notes if you were "sick", there just has to be an official note.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I like to think im good at math but she has made me never want to look at trig ever again. Unless you're very self motivated and have good background knowledge of this class, dont take it.
Takes attendance randomly, but you need to be in class anyway if you have any hope of passing. It's easy to get behind in class so it's recommended you study every day from the exercise generators. Quiz every week, hw quizzes every not and then. Exams are much harder than quizzes. It's not hard, you just have to practice a lot. A LOT.
Dr. LeNoir is an amazing professor! Trig is just a very difficult subject no matter who teaches it. She really dedicates hours to her students such as the help sessions, office hours, and stays after class after every class. She color codes everything and is very detailed. The practices online are what you can expect in the weekly quizzes and exam.
Amazing Professor !!! TAKE HER FOR TRIG!!! SHE IS GREAT. just do what she says and youll pass
Dr. LeNoir is an INCREDIBLE teacher but trig is just a rough class. She's very helpful and wants you to pass but doesn't offer much extra credit so all grades are based on 3 tests and weekly lab quizzes.
I love Penny! She is so adorable and dyes a section of her hair to match her outfit and she has so much patience for her students. The class itself isn't too bad, just weekly quizzes and tests occasionally. Highly recommend her as a teacher, and if you're not a math person, definitely take this class!!
This is a really tough class in general so I would suggest taking it somewhere else if possible, but LeNoir has made it bearable. She is readily available to help so take advantage of that! Make sure you don't fall behind because it'll be tough catching back up.
Dr. LeNoir is an incredible teacher but trig is a hard class. She always has office hours and provides help but grades are mostly quizzes/tests with no curve.
There is a lot of information to be memorized, and LeNoir warns you on the first day as to how intense the class will be but she is also an amazing teacher. The way she teaches in class helps understanding and remembering the information immensely. If you go to class, this is an easy math class. When I grow up, I want to be Pennington LeNoir.
Dr. LeNoir is extremely easy to understand and gives helpful lectures. She stays after class every day to go over material that you have questions about and also has many opportunities to attend office hours. She made trig easy and actually enjoyable IMO. If you go to class and ask questions when you're struggling, this class is not bad,
She is a great teacher and will really help you if you ask. It is definitely worth going to the weekly study sessions. Tests and quizzes are on some weird software so you have to be really accurate because there is no partial credit.
I have taken this class before and did not pass because I did not come often. The only reason I passed this time was because I had a tutor. She moves very fast and makes you feel dumb if you ask her to repeat stuff. My best advice if you take this class with her is to get a good tutor and show up to class for attendance points.
If you're even a little decent at math, this class will be incredibly boring. Lectures aren't mandatory but she randomly takes attendance that adds to a quiz grade. You also take a quiz every week which gets very annoying and repetitive quickly. She is also not at all forgiving if you forget to take a quiz.
Although attendance isn't mandatory, she does randomly check by doing a notecard. Sometimes they are answers to homework questions and other times she just wants your name. They are used for extra credit--and double points near a holiday so show up and take notes and it's an easy A!
I am not good at math so I figured this would be my best choice. Lenoir is good at what she does and makes the class pretty simple. The beginning of the semester is much easier than later on if you suck at statistics. Overall, go to class, take good notes, and practice a lot and you should be totally fine.
Going to class is mandatory cause she does random attendance & she goes over a lot of problems. The class is 50 minutes but if you stay she spends the next 25 min answering questions. Very helpful in office hours. Loves the subject (30 years strong) and likes to put spray paint in her hair and color coordinate it to her outfit. A real gem.
Looks like the grandma from Halloween town + spray painted hair to match her outfits. Weekly hw quizzes are due at 10 pm on Mondays, so don't make any plans. Great professor who is approachable and reachable outside of lectures. Attendance is taken randomly and will go as extra credit towards quiz grades. I'm terrible at math and I passed with her
The best math class I've ever taken. She is very clear about the amount of work required, and that it's more work if your algebra/arithmetic background is lacking and you need to catch that up. She's an outstanding lecturer and office hours were helpful, too. Homework and review problem prepare you well for quizzes & tests- but you need to do them!
She's a pretty decent math teacher and the material for this course is fairly manageable as long as you attend lectures. Attendance for the lectures isn't mandatory but occasionally she'll count it as extra credit if you fill out a note card and turn it in on the lecture day. Every week there's either a quiz or test on your lab day.
Dr. LeNoir was no joke. She is very hard core. With that being said, she is a great lecturer and gives an abundance of examples during class which makes homework a little easier. Homework is not mandatory but DO IT!! Overall, her notes are easy to follow and she makes it very clear. This was a very difficult class, but the teacher was great.
Dr. Lenoir explains all the material really well but you definitely have to be able to put in the work after class to fully understand it. She takes attendance randomly in class and assigns a hw quiz every week. As long as you go to every class do the practice and hw assignments it should be an easy A.
Lenoir is definitley old fashioned. She expects you to be quiet when talking and don't even think about asking her a question on the syllabus. However she is an AMAZING professor and was very clear in all the lectures. We had weekly homeworks, labs, and three exams. I took her for college algebra and had to put work in, but she made it manageable.
LeNoir is a great teacher overall. From the first lecture, you can easily tell she knows her stuff and how to teach it. The class is difficult not gonna lie. She says, in order to get the A you gotta practice after every lecture and do the practice quizzes. I've gotten A's on the past few quizzes, so if you really work for it, you'll get the A:)
I failed/withdrew from this class, but it was not her fault, I struggle in math. She is so helpful and accessible. Go to the help sessions! She does everything she can to help, but sometimes she makes you feel stupid for stupid questions. She's hardcore, but also seems like that cool grandma who will take you to dye your hair and get a tattoo.
Yes trig is hard but Lenoir teaches it in a way that makes you understand it. As long as you do the practices you will be fine.
I think Prof. LeNoir was a good professor, and teaches the MGF1107 material well, however if you miss something, big or small, in her class, she makes it hard for you to get back on track. I'd recommend going to the Lab TA for help if you miss something. Other than that, it's a pretty decent math class.
she just isnt good. very rude and unhelpful, its as if she doesnt have any interest assisting students.
Dr. Lenoir has been one of the best math teachers I've had. She takes random attendance, but sometimes they count as double so there's a chance to get extra credit in attendance. Aside from attendance extra credit, she offers a lot of other ways to bring up your grade. If you skip class you probably won't understand the material.
Professor LeNoir was one of my favorite math professors. She cares about students and wants you to do well in the class. Her tests and quizzes are exactly the same as the notes she does in class. I'd recommend going to her office hours early on, so she knows your name. I went to her office for help often, and she bumped my C+ to a B-.
If you are not good at math, and want to maintain your GPA- DO NOT TAKE! I have passed all other maths, but she made stupid concepts hard! So unapproachable, rude to students, and used a math generator for quiz and test- which would often not have a right answer. Grade is calculated though and equation, so comes down to percentages! DON'T TAKE
DONT take! RUDE, RUDE, RUDE. Its almost like she is a college professor who hates college students. Will do nothing to help with grade, and even when I had a uni excused absence she gave me a hard time. The test were stupid hard and everything is on computer, so lengthy problems were hard to do on paper when going back and forth on a screen. AVOID
LeNoir loves four things, colored pens, highlights, rings, and math. Go to class, take notes, do the homework, and practice, practice, practice for the weekly quizzes and exams. Sidenote, she has really good handwriting.
Straight up, trig is hard. It sucks, and I did not think I would do so hot. Turns out, Dr. Lenoir was a fantastic teacher. Her notes are very well organized, and she is very helpful in office hours. She is a little scary at first, but she's just being honest. She's a tough cookie, but a great professor. Take her, she's you're best option at FSU.
This is your best option for MAC 1114. Her quizzes are hard if you don't study for them. If you put in the work you should have no problem keeping an A in the class.
Grade is from 10 quizzes (2 are dropped), 3 tests (one is optional in order to replace bad score) and a final. Overall, this class is tough, you have to practice in order to get a grasp on the material. Lenoir is an AMAZING teacher, her notes are flawless and makes everything easy to understand. Go to class, get the notes, and do the practice
Simply put: Trig is hard. Her lectures are good, but she even says you have to put a ton of work in to be able to pass. If you have a busy schedule, take this class when you are able to put the most effort possible into it. The online system is not much of a help, so you need to go to tutoring if you want to succeed in this class.
Awesome professor! Notes posted online, explained in-depth in class. Posts practices online which are JUST like quizzes/tests. Grading scale is fair. Optional third test to help boost your grade. Curved exams by 6/8 points. After each class she explains stuff more for 15 min. Trig is hard but she explains it well! Always helpful in office hours.
Great math teacher, very understanding and does really well at explaining the material. She makes even the hardest concepts really clear and easy to understand. Shes fair with grades and genuinely seems like she wants you to succeed. Great professor
Trigonometry is challenging, there isn't much getting around that but Pennington LeNoir is an amazing professor. She made me think about Trigonometry in a much more efficient way than I was taught in high school. She sometimes will offer bonus points on tests and quizzes if you score above a certain percentage. Highly Recommend.
I loved her! She is intimidating at first, but she can teach so well. She doesn't just throw numbers and formulas at your face. She breaks everything down and gives reason to formulas and concepts so you actually can apply them because you know what they are there for. She gives a lot of extra credit incentives on the tests and quizzes.
One of the best math teachers I've had. class is based off notes she made and she explains them very thoroughly, and will reclarify multiple times just to make sure you understand it. also always available during office hours, but will only help you if you have valid questions and will sometimes stay with you working if you still need help. 10/10
Dr. Lenoir is a fantastic professor. As someone who has always struggled with math, I felt like she gave crystal clear instructions on how to do each problem, provided AMPLE examples of problems, and she explains things extremely well. She's very strict on excuses/grading and things, but if you put in effort, you'll do well in the class.
Gives a quiz once a week, 3 tests, about 7 HW quizzes and the final exam. Gives great lectures, easy to understand her, and she's always available for office hours. She randomly checks for attendance, so make sure you go to class! She gives a pdf of notes and questions at the beginning of the class so that you can follow along. Easiest math class!
Trig at FSU has a reputation for being unnecessarily difficult, but Dr. LeNoir is a good choice for this class. Very qualified to teach, offered plenty of office hours, and seems to genuine want students to succeed. The grading scale is clear but makes it pretty difficult to get an A. The online test program is awful, but they may change soon.
She wont round your grade even if its by 1% and is very strict on missing labs. If its not a very specific doctors note she wont let you make up the grade and then you get a 0. There are quizzes and tests every Friday so that sucked. Overall not a caring professor and isnt helpful.
Took for Spring 2019 and she didn't drop any grades. Your grade is based off of 3 tests, 12 lab quizzes, 12 homework quizzes and a final. 80 percent of your grade is calculated from the tests and the final. Do not count on anything being dropped and do not count on passing if you do not put in the time. Very knowledgeable and helpful + best option.
This is the easiest math class you will ever take. Prof LeNoir knows what she's talking about and explains things really well. All the homework is exactly like the quizzes. You can easily get an A in this class if you do the practice problems right before the quiz. Attendance is taken randomly and it will count as a quiz grade.
Dr. Lenoir was a great professor. She explained the concepts well but went very fast so its your responsibility to keep up. If you miss her class you will definitely fail because she covers alot of material in just one lecture. We had 3 days of review before the final which was a big help.
Despite the classes insufferability, Dr. LeNoir is an amazing professor!
I have no idea what is happening in this class. I study and do all the work and got an 11% on the first quiz. I'm just hoping I pass.
She goes over everything quickly in class and that's fine because you get the lecture notes, but the last section has a lot of trick questions in it. The concepts she goes over in the last section are also confusing and she doesn't go over them very well. I got As on the test/quiz without studying , but last module I got Bs/Cs even with studying
Professor LeNoir is great. She makes the math super clear and easy to understand. There are only 3 tests, but you do have a quiz and homework every week. She also always matches her hair to her shirt and it's wonderful.
Time and understanding goes into doing well in this class, but it is not difficult. It was honestly a review of the algebra I took my sophomore year of high school. Dr. LeNoir is a spunky, Southern lady who wants you to do well so as long as you do the weekly HW quizzes and practices for the quizzes and 3 Tests + the final practice you will excel!
Difficult even with doing all the extra credit not super friendly either
Decent. Some of the on-computer quizzes have trick questions, some are a breeze. Her class was a bit boring, but I suppose its because I don't care for math. She makes it very easy for anybody to understand the concepts and she repeats problem types so that you really get it. She cares that you learn the material. Overall, not too difficult.
Dr. Lenoir is just straight up unhelpful. She does give extra credit, but when it comes down to it, she's not a nice person. She goes almost comically slow, and doesn't have time to cover important topics that show up on her quizzes and tests. She also asked me to get further proof of illness even though I showed up with a doctors note excusing me.
i'll be honest, I took this class for an easy A because it's the hardest math I need for my major. yeah, awful idea. there is SO MUCH homework it is unreal. the quizzes and tests are so unbelievably hard, not because of the content but because the questions themselves are so contrived. also, you have to calculate your grade yourself...
Dr. LeNoir is probably your best option for trig. It's a hard class by itself but she does her best to make it passable. There are so many opportunities for bonus points that help your grade. She has lots of office hours. Her lectures are very clear and she has partial notes posted online. Do the homework and practices and you'll be fine.
Hw assignment and quiz every week, but she's the coolest lady ever. Something about the way she taught made me actually like math for once. Teaches well and in a way that actually makes you understand. She's very nice. There are random attendance checks that count toward one quiz grade, so go to class. No class, no pass.
I'm not a math person by any means and I really struggled in my high school trig class. So I was a bit reluctant about taking this course. But Dr. LeNoir not only stimulated my interest in the material, she also made it easy to understand. She is very caring and passionate about what she does. I would definitely recommend her!
I really wish there wasn't a pandemic so I could have taken the class in person! She seemed very personable based off of the online lectures and the few instances where I dropped into her Zoom office hours. I usually stuck to studying on my own and did relatively well, but she was most definitely helpful the few times I did get stumped on the work.
I took her class Spring semester, & at first, I was scared because I never took trig in high school, but she was a fantastic professor. As long as you pay attention to the lectures & do your HW, you should be fine :) Before a test, she holds extra help sessions, which are extremely helpful because she goes over everything that will be on the test.
One of my favorite professors. GO TO CLASS, she gives bonus points and her lectures are really helpful. Ive never been good at math and got an A+ in this class. Not an easy A and if you want to pass you need to do homework and go to class. But if you need help, youll get it from her if you ask. Super cool lady and one of the best profs i had.
asynchronous class with extremely helpful videos. extremely straightforward with no tricks
Started with Grigorian and failed. The second I stepped into Lenoir's classroom you could tell she cared a lot more about you as an individual student and explained things broken down so that everyone understands. Very personable and you can tell she really cares about her students. I went from an F to an A. Sitting the front helps. Lots of EC.
