Per was a very good professor. I could definitely tell he knew what he was talking about and his lectures are at a pace where you can write notes and still listen and not be overwhelmed. He is very helpful and is there if you need any help. His tests were a little tough, but if you understand the material in the practice quizzes its pretty easy.
Attendance is not mandatory- I would recommend going because it's better than cramming for the test the night before by reading the textbook and he explains everything you need on the test. He likes to tell really awful jokes and the lectures are SO BORING. It's hard to force yourself to go to class. Doing homework and reading makes the class easy.
Per makes you work for your grade, this class is tough and I would not recommend taking him unless you have too. His tests are extremely heavily weighted and long Moodle quizzes are due before every class. His lectures are long and boring, but you have to go to class or reading to catch up will be daunting.
He is seriously the best professor I have had. He explains hard material in the simplest of terms. He also helps you out a lot of you go to him during his office hours. Will definitely take him next semester for Managerial Economics!
Norander is awesome, one of the nicest professors I've ever met. Gives weekly Moodle quizzes, but the test questions come directly from the quizzes, which he makes clear in class as well. Lectures are enjoyable, and he is always willing to help, especially during office hours. Simplifies info and always answers questions. No cumulative final.
You have to go to class to see what he's testing on. HARD online quizzes due before every class. Doesn't make power points so if you miss the lecture, you won't get proper notes. Read every bit of the textbook.
His lectures can sometimes be boring, especially if you're tired the day of class, but he's a great teacher and gives great notes to study. Everything on the test is covered in class and in homework which makes them pretty easy. Overall a great teacher and class.
Great professor. He makes sure that the class understands the topic before he moves on to other topics. Explains very well the lectures and is easy to understand.
Love this class. Professor is kind and funny and makes sure we all understand before moving on. Great Swedish accent too.
Norander is great and gives (boring) but very helpful lectures. Go to class & take notes to understand material, reading the book is really helpful. Weekly quizzes & hw on MyEconLab that are easy if you use your book. He puts up practice quizzes on every chapter covered on the test before the test and if you do those you will do well on the test.
You don't have to attend lecture but it helps so much. The book is offered online for free. He does a lot of pre/post quizzes on moodle but you get 2 tries. He has 4 exams and they're all pretty easy if you do the practice quizzes on moodle (literally verbatim). Hes from Sweden but doesn't have an accent, just says things weird sometimes.
This teacher is very helpful inside and outside of lectures. His lectures are very informational and easy to follow along. He gives a plethora of examples of each concept and term you discuss which is a good study aid.
Great lectures with lots of swedish jokes. Short readings each week with easy quizes that can boost your grade. Tests are exactly what he goes over in class and he provides practice texts that are essentially the same as the exams. Great professor that obviously loves what he's teaching.
Great professor. He cares about the success of his students. There are 3 unit tests and a non-cumulative final plus a bunch of online quizzes. If you show up to class then you don't need to read the book with the exception of one chapter where he warns you to read the book. If you are really struggling there are tons of quizlets for this material.
Very thick accent, nice guy but can be very boring at times. Exams aren't too bad, however, the online quizzes toward the end get super challenging and confusing. Attendance doesn't count for a grade but he still takes attendance? Avoid.
Per Norander is an awesome professor. The way he is able to teach lectures reminds me of a stereotypical professor from a movie or tv show- in a good way. He's clear about the subject and makes learning economics really interesting. Not to mention he's from Sweden, so he's got that cool accent.
Norander was a great professor and explains the material thoroughly. ECON is a difficult subject but with his help, I was able to pass the class. He is willing to help and wants the class to succeed. I never read and all I did was attend the lectures and I passed.
Great professor! He is willing to help you, and offers many resources.
Mr. Norander is one of the best professors I've had here at UNCC. Five minutes into his lectures and you'll see what I mean. You can't help but listen to every word he speaks due to his passion for what he's saying. If you need to take Economics at UNCC, you need to sign up with this man!
Professor Norander is amazing! Made me love economics. I looked forward to his classes. Lectures are interesting. Hes also easily accessible outside of class and is respectful and caring. Class isnt hard if you pay attention and to the quizzes. Most test questions come from the quizzes. Final exam not cumulative
This is the best professor I have had at UNCC. He is well prepared for classes and uses class time extremely wisely. I appreciate his teaching style where he writes out the notes/lecture to be projected as he goes rather than reading from a powerpoint. He is engaging, funny, and understanding. No busy work, but weekly quizzes that help on exam.
This guy is a rock star. You can tell that he really prepares for each lecture to make sure that coming to class is worth your time. Weekly assignments help you learn the material and boost your grade. Gives plenty of resources to study for exams, too. Highly recommend.
He is so far my favorite professor at UNCC, he is clear concise and knows what he is talking about. He explains every lesson like a pro and is makes time for some jokes here and there. He is readily available and very respectful. I highly recommend taking any of his classes.
Per knows what he's talking about and wants his students to succeed. I found this class difficult because of the content but am glad I took him as my professor. He has 4 tests with the cumulative final being optional and trust me, youll end up having to take it. Tests are on the homework so study those and you should be fine. (a hard class tho)
By far my favorite professor in my 3 years. Took Per for Econ 2101 and 3125. Try to attend every class because the lectures are very important and he does a much better job explaining than the book. There are homeworks and quizes but they follow the lecture notes directly and are great practice for exams. If you struggle his office hours are great
Best teacher I've had at UNCC so far. Cares a lot about students and is very passionate about teaching. Took him for micro and macro because his lectures explain the material in a way anyone can understand. I am not the best student but I managed to get an A in both of his classes. He has quizzes but are very easy. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Loved having this professor for Macro! One of my favorite teacher in UNCC. All of his lectures break down the material so that you can fully understand and be prepared for the exams. There are a couple of quizzes and if you miss class you won't do well on them. But he is really caring and wants to see his students succeed. Study and you will pass!
Professor Norander is awesome! I took him for macro here at UNCC and decided to take him again. He writes out his lecture notes clearly and talks as he writes. The HW is always solvable with class notes. Pre lecture quizzes can be difficult if you do not read the text before hand, but you have 2 chances to take them. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!
Per is a solid teacher when it comes to econ. He makes it interesting and makes lots of jokes in class. He goes over homework problems in class and likes when students answer questions. His test questions are difficult if you miss class or don't review but if you put in the work you should be fine.
Professor Norander has by far been my best professor I've had at UNCC. After taking Micro with Ellen Sewell and barely getting by with a C, I was scared of econ. Pay attention to lectures and do the fairly easy online homeworks ("quizzes") and you'll learn more than any other class. I made a solid A in his class and am taking him again for 3125
Couldn't ask for a better economics professor. Dr. Norander is very passionate about what he teaches and wants to help everyone succeed. Just complete the online quizzes, study them, show up to his lectures and you should do great. If you don't understand something, ask him. Cool and caring professor. Have to really study for an A, but its doable.
Gifted educator. He presents his work in such a clear and thoughtful way. Cogent. You will gain a very deep understanding of the material if you attend his lectures. He's passionate about what he teaches, so you won't be fighting the urge to nod off. Very gentle if you need to seek help with the material outside of class. Dude is awesome!
He is hands down the best professor I've had at UNCC. The class itself was difficult but he explained it so effortlessly and made it so easy to understand. He was great at answering questions and encouraged them. Work load was reasonable, a canvas quiz per chapter and 4 homework assignments.
Great professor! He isn't afraid to tell corny jokes and likes to bring in props for certain lectures. He breaks things down with real world examples and makes them very easy to understand. There's few professors that you can tell really care about what they're teaching, and he's one of them. I wish he taught more classes so I could take him again!
Per is honestly one of the best econ proffessors at the school. His lectures are phenominal and he explains things very well. If you take even moderate effort to take notes along with him (he goes slow enough to write along without being boring) you will definitely get an A or B. I honestly learned in this class and will be taking him again
I feel like I really learn a lot in class and he makes it as easy as possible for us to understand. Managerial Economics is a pretty tough course and he does a great job with it. The homework is for a grade, but it really helps so much on the exam to have done it. He's also very nice!
Truly an amazing professor if you want to learn. He explains everything in great detail and is extremely prepared. Every lecture is well thought out and funny sometimes. Exams are pretty difficult so showing up to class and taking notes is key. Take him if you truly want to learn the "whys" behind the material, not just memorization. Best professor
Professor Norander is by far my best professor. He makes the material easy to understand. And he loves to make jokes in class. Really cares for his students. His exams are tough so make sure you study the notes and his post and pre lecture quizzes.
Per Norander is definitely the professor to take for Macro. His lectures are great and he really cares about the class. The class relies on quizzes and test only so make sure you do them.
Professor Norander has been the best professor I have taken at Charlotte so far. He really cares about his students and their success and teaches real world examples in class. He makes the class interesting and breaks it down as simple as it can get to make tough topics easy to understand. I will be taking another class of his in the future.
Fantastic professor. Lectures were a treat and he makes it very easy to take notes. Pay attention in the lectures and take notes and you will have no issue scoring high grades. If you don't pay attention and skip lectures this course will be very hard for you since concepts are not as easily understood unless explained to you in a lecture.
Write down everything he writes and you'll do great. His notes are nothing like the book, so I basically purchased the book for nothing. He gives pre and post lecture quizzes that will be extremely helpful while studying for your exams.
Makes you learn the material, but that's what you're there for. Book helps out for pre-lecture quizzes. His lectures aren't powerpoint, rather handwritten which helped me and made note taking much more reasonable. 4 Exams, drops your lowest and lowest pre-lecture quiz. Will tell you how hard the class is on day 1! If you can keep up, stay in it!
Per Norander knows the topic material and explains it so that we clearly understand it. Be prepared to do several hours of pre-lecture and post-lecture quizzes online every week. Go over those quizzes to prepare for the tests. The textbook is not required, but it may be helpful to have around if you are missing something.
Per is the bomb! Attendance was not mandatory for his class but you should try to go because he is EXTREMELY educated and knows his material. Lots of online quizzes and 4 exams. Gives a study guide and quiz questions that are similar to his exams. Read the book and study his study guide and its a easy A.
Honestly these reviews make this class seem a little too easy. The tests are really challenging and you need to do well on them to excel in the class. Just my 2 cents.
This is not an easy class at all, but he does a good job explaining the concepts. He is probably one of the best teachers I've ever had, but you definitely have to study hard to get an A. Study the HW b/c they are exactly like the tests. Math doesn't come that easy to me but I study for maybe 3-5 hours before exams and currently have an 88%.
Lectures are fantastic. I can't stress this enough. Take his 50min 3 days per week class and follow along in your notes. He writes at a slow speed so you can both write down the info and also pay attention. You will learn alot. I take Per whenever I can. DO NOT SKIP HIS LECTURES
Don't miss a day or you'll fall behind. Teacher is funny and explains things very clearly. Great teaching style. One of my favorites. Material was very initially very challenging but he gives commendable opportunities to improve your grade.
Per is absoluty the best professor I've had in my four years in the business college. He cares deeply about his students and can teach economics more engagingly and interestingly than any other. He makes you work for it, but he is a professor that you definitely feel motivated and like you learned something after leaving class. Take this professor
He was amazing. He made everything easy to understand. He's caring and if you reach out about your particular situation, he'll listen and help in anyway possible. Tests hold a heavy weight, but they're not too hard. You get 2 attempts on the HW, these are kind of hard. He doesn't go too fast in lectures. He even has students do games to teach.
This professor is great; I wish I could take him again. He's kind, funny, and makes the material easier to understand in really interesting lectures. And he's always connecting formulas/course material to real life. The homework and tests are weighted heavily, which can be difficult. But otherwise this class isn't too hard and it's interesting.
BEST ECON PROFESSOR EVER. He is very helpful and really cares for his students. He is highly motivated to teach and make everyone succeed. HIGHLY recommend doing the practice before tests and if he says know a concept.. KNOW IT
My favorite professor ever in the ECON department. Lectures are awesome and very clear. Exams aren't that challenging and overall I feel like I learned a lot in his class. Would definitely take again!
If you pay attention in class or at least just do the online homework, it is an easy A. very interesting teacher who actually gives useful real-life advice and knowledge.
Per is an awesome professor who cares about his students. He is a very intellectual person that seems really wise. He gives very useful lectures and his assignments are useful for the exams. He is predictable once you get to know his methods. Norander is not an easy A professor. You will actually learn economics in this class if you want to pass.
Great teacher. Just study the homeworks before the tests. Honestly would have been the difference between a B and an A for me. Makes materials easy to understand
HE IS AMAZING!!!! By this, I don't mean that the course is easy because you do have to work to get a good grade, but I mean that his lectures really help you grasp the material better than any book. He provides a lot of examples (including real-life examples) so you can understand concepts better. All I got to say is TAKE THIS PROFESSOR
The best professor I have had at UNC Charlotte by far. Really likes teaching and makes it interesting. I loved going to his class because he made it easy to learn. Homeworks can be a little long but other than that, It is an easy class if you pay attention and take good notes. Highly recommend him!
Lectures are always good. Good at explaining topics. Only work is learn smart(coursework), hw assignments and test. You will need connect access code. Wish time wasnt cut short due to COVID19. Overall great teacher
This was my second class with professor Norander and he's honeslty one of, if not, my favorite professors at UNCC. His lectures go over everything so you have all the material needed to understand the homework and the exams are easy if you know how to do the homework! He really gives you everything you need to succeed. TAKE HIS CLASS
I've taken Norander for another class back when we were in person and he was great. However, this semester he decided to do asynchronous online classes. He just posted lecture videos for his students to watch. I prefer zoom sessions so not having those made it hard for me to learn. I recommend him if you're in person or like asynchronous classes.
Professor Per is a phenomenal Econ professor, he explains things very simply and makes it easy to follow along on more complex topics. He is a very animated speaker and paces his lectures very well. If you do the assignments and attend the lectures and take good notes you should have no problem getting at least a B.
I signed up for this class thinking it was synchronous, but he decided to do asynchronous. He just posts a bunch of online lectures, has written hw and 3 tests. does not give you enough time for tests.
Plenty of lectures that are very informative. Funny Swedish jokes. Plenty of assignments. LearnSmarts which is completion, homework which is 2 attempts & 20-30 qs, interactive activites. the exams are 1 attempt & 30-35 q's for 50mins. 3 exams & 1 final. He's an amazing econ prof. Gives great examples 7 explanations in lectures
Amazing professor. The material can be difficult sometimes but he makes it easy to understand. He dropped the lowest exam without telling us he would. I am already signed up for 2 more of his classes next semester, cannot recommend enough that you take him anytime you get the opportunity.
Per Norander is a great teacher. His layout for the online class was easy to follow and he didn't require us to meet on zoom except for the final. The material is a bit hard to understand but he drops 3 of our lowest hw scores. I've taken him for both micro and macro and I recommend him as a professor.
Loved Professor Norander. His class was so organized. He had lecture videos each week as well as 2 assignments: one was multiple choice and one was an application based activity. He was always helpful and very thorough during his office hours. The videos were very helpful and clear. Take his class!
Professor Norander has been a great professor and helps you to truly understand the material. This has been my favorite class this semester! There are three types of homework's and exams that you have to keep up with, though it is very manageable. He makes graphs, unemployment, bonds, and labor markets enjoyable to learn about. 100% recommend!
I either love him or hate him, explains things well, attendance counts towards grade, exams are heavily proctored and hard, not enough time given. Repetitive and writes all notes by hand, homework is repetitive but required. He is a good professor and makes sure you understand concepts, it helps to take him for both micro and macro if possible
Loved this class. Professor Norander succeeded in helping me not only understand the material, but the real-life ramifications of economics in our society. He has a good sense of humor yet takes his work very seriously, so I'm not sure you could come up with a better professor for economics. Tests aren't too bad as long as you study and practice.
This professor is great at lecturing but does not care about you as a student. He gives you 200+ questions as study guides for his exams that weigh 65% of his class. Claims his course is a "wash outclass" then gives zero help when you need it and will sit back and let you struggle. Teaches well but does not care about students. 3/10 personality.
Professor Norander is extremely funny, kind, and overall just a good dude. He gives a lot of homework but his lectures are amazing. Honestly, if I wasn't doing engineering, I would probably be in economics because of this guy right here.
All you do is take notes every class. You need to read the textbook in order to do well in this class. He expects you to know what he is teaching, which is unfair. Needs to be more interactive if people are confused. For first class of business, didn't learn enough to be prepared for upcoming years.
Prof Norander was basically my dream professor. He is so excited to be teaching you every single day. He tolerates no bull which means you will not be wasting money taking his class. He posts all lectures and grades very promptly. He is funny and engaging and the only reason I didn't rate him earlier was that I wanted to get him for Micro too!
Do NOT take this Professor for BUSN1101. His classes are basically just lectures and he expects you to take notes on everything, which doesnt even end up being on the exams. Hes very nit picky when it comes to grading. Hes very petty and expects you to know a lot about the course and for an introductory course, thats not a fair expectation.
Solid professor. Nothing truly special about his class but you'll learn from it. Plus there's a hw assignment every other day but aside from that, solid choice.
Prof. Norander is the best teacher I have ever had. Economics is a hard class but he makes it to where you can understand the material. The way his class is formatted ensures that you will receive a good grade, as long as you put in the effort needed.
All lectures were taught very clearly and the tests were based on lectures. I did not have to use that many outside resources for studying, besides the notes he would guide us through. Not a very tough course or professor at all.
I am not a fan of econ classes (it just isn't my subject) but I really enjoyed Dr. Per Norander's class. You can tell he really wants his students to do well. There is nothing on the test that we didn't cover in class. Just take the notes and do the homework and you will do well. I would definitely recommend taking his class.
Well-spoken professor!
You get out of his class what you put in.
Worst professor I have ever taken, made material very difficult to understand
This is one of the best professors you could have. I am really bad at Econ yet professor Norander really helps you understand the material and gives you lots of assignments to practice. His tests are also pooled from all the practices too so doing them really helps. He is very prepared for class and uses lots of good examples. Def would recommend.
This class relies on you knowing material for tests. Even if you do everything you're supposed to and economics doesn't click for you then this is not the professor for you. He was very rude to my class; however, I have seen where he has been great to others so I guess it just depends.
He explains everything very clearly in his lectures and always answered what ever questioned I may have had. His exams are weighted very heavy so if you study and do well on his exams ( which are not the worst) you'll pass. Overall all great experience.
His lectures are good, but they are very boring. Test are very hard.
Mr. Norander is the best professor I've had so far. Lectures are very detailed and have great examples. You get out what you put in.
Be prepared to do an insane amount of work before the next class. Smartbook text book assignments are a minimum amount of questions with some being a minimum of 80, in my opinion, unrealistic expectations for students. Lectures are helpful however, this homework will cause the quantity of social life supplied to decrease drastically.
Professor Norander simply does not relate the homework to the lectures at all. The lectures involve concepts that he makes easy to understand in class, but when you get to the homework hardly any of it makes sense. Exams are worth 64%, making it almost impossible to get an A. Class average was 75% on the first 2 exams, making it hard to get an A.
Funny and cares about his students. Definitely a lot of homework, but he wants all his students to succeed and has multiple practice exams to prepare for the actual exams. Econ is a tough subject but as long as you put in a decent amount of work, youll be good
Professor Norander is an amazing professor. Home works can be a little much being due before a class but not actually covering the material in class at the time. He wants you to succeed and to learn.
I took 2101 and 2102 (Macro and Micro) with professor Norander and enjoyed every second of it. His lectures always kept my full attention and make good use of the 50 minute class time. He truly cares about his students and makes sure everyone understands the material with memorable examples and occasional humor. Absolutely take this Professor.
I took Norander for Micro and Macro, and he was incredible for both classes. Not only is he a really funny guy, but he can make the most complicated topics sound so elementary and is just overall, an incredibly professor. So glad I get him for managerial next semester. Absolutely would recommend him.
The lectures were very engaging but the tests usually had very little to do with the lectures. He does not offer extra credit besides dropping your lowest homework grade.
He is a great professor and is very engaging, and truly cares about his students. The only thing I disliked was the way the tests were formatted. Most of them were just 30 questions, and so if you miss just 4, you're already down to a B average. Put in the work, you'll get an A, but not easily.
Great professor overall would definitely take his class again! Tests make up a large percentage of your grade so make sure you take the practice exams multiple times. Usually the questions are very similar to the test. Weekly homework assignments will get annoying at some point but as long as you stick with it, you'll pass with a good grade.
BEST econ professor but go to EVERY class! Macro is not easy but taking notes during the lectures and reviewing them is key to your success. I read the book twice and still made an A. The questions on the test are easy if you understand the content (most math you do in homework assignments is not going to be on the test, so don't overthink it).
Excellent professor, good at teaching. Tests are weighted heavily, but they are multiple choice. Do the practice HW which is similar to the exams. Recommend going to class to take notes.
tests were harder, need to study, but projects helped balance out my test grades. Go to class, take notes, study for exams, and you should be good
Professor Norander is an amazing teacher! He is very helpful and always made sure to go over anything we were confused on. He would work with me if I had to miss class and overall a good teacher. Tests weren't too difficult but definitely need to study. Also he does take attendance daily.
His lectures feel like TED talks in the best way possible, he gives great notes and is super helpful if you ever have any questions or issues.
Dont listen to the few bad reviews, they are from people who are not applying themselves. Economics concepts can be hard to grasp but Norander has a great way of explaining and his lectures are super engaging. Taking time to do the smartbooks is important because tests are heavily weighted. But, he gives you all the resources to do well.
Professor Norander is a great teacher for the first semester of college! Breaks down assignments really well and is super approachable. Flexible and willing to help students out where he can! Gives constructive feed back on papers and just runs class really well in general!
Amazing professor! Professor Norander breaks down the material from the book and turns it into notes for his students. The notes are easy to understand and great study resources.
Great professor! Going to class was super beneficial since all notes are done in class. The notes given are great and easy to understand. Grade is mostly made up of exams but you can do good on them by doing practices and following the concept guide he gives you!
Will never take another class with him ever again. Worst experience and the hardest person to get along with. Offered me zero help.
One of the best professors! He explains the material in a way that makes it super easy to understand. I found the examples he gave during class were very helpful in understanding more difficult concepts. You'll do well as long as you pay attention, put in the effort to do the assignments, and use the practice quizzes to study.
Norander is an amazing Professor. Organized notes, awesome lectures, great sense of humor, useful analogies to help you learn. I wish I could take someone with this teaching style and skill for every class. Learned so much this semester thanks to Norander. Material can get tough but Norander is always there to help as well as PAL sessions.
he is a very interesting to have as a teacher. he is laid back and his work that he signs DO because it will help you with your college career. if you are in between two professors choose PER!! this is your sign
Professor Norander has been one of my favorite professors from my time at UNCC. His teaching style is extremely clear, and he provides plenty of examples throughout the lectures and homework assignments that are super helpful for exams. Write down everything he does during the lectures, put forth effort, and you will be golden!
Class Averages For Mandatory Exams: Exam I: 75.33 Exam II: 64.67 Exam III: 68.67 Do with that info as you please.
Professor Norander was a passionate professor of managerial economics. Although his assignments were challenging, he did everything in his power to help his students achieve passing grades. He rewarded hard work, such as rounding up my grade from 88% to an A. Overall, he was an outstanding professor, and I highly recommend taking his class.
The best professor I have taken a class with, hands down. A lot of teaching involves discussing with other people, which is great for understanding the material. He also has a bunch of wacky examples for situations that all stick and make perfect sense. Not much reading, just do the assignments properly and you're set. JUST TAKE HIM FOR ECONOMICS!!
I cannot say enough great things about this professor, he truly wants his students to succeed. He has easy to follow notes he takes during class, and 2 homework assignments before every exam which are pretty much the exam. He wants his students to pass and learn the material and he makes his lectures very engaging.
Great Professor really is passionate about what he teaches and is always willing to help students with information. He explained the entire chapter to me even if it took time out of the other class, simply because he cares about our success. Class is a little tough, but if you put in the effort, you will do well.
His lectures are amazing, very helpful and clear. Almost the entire class is through McGraw Hill but none of it is too difficult, including the exams. He is always open to answering questions and absolutely wants you to succeed.
"Your phone is like a big bag of cocaine" - Per Norander In all seriousness he is a great professor but I found the class hard but I know that if I took other professor I would have failed the class.
"Your phone is like a big bag of cocaine" - Per Norander In all seriousness he is a great professor and I just found this class really hard but I know if I had another professor I probably would have failed this class. He really cares for his students and when I asked for help he would help me after class and told me to come to office hours.
Best professor to ever exist. Genuinely. Anyone giving him a bad rating probably is just salty bc they never went to class or paid attention in lectures. Go to class, pay attention, do ur homework and ur guaranteed an A. AMAZING lectures. He really cares about his students learning.
Professor Norander is a great teacher, that cannot be denied. He has a no late work policy that is not beneficial. If you are the type of student that really cares about GPA only take Norander if you have to.
If he repeats something then it's on the exam. Clear & informative lecture. Great professor, no extra credit, replies to email fast, no late work. Homework's aren't busy work. the stuff on there is actually on the exam. He's very nice too.
One of the best professors. I hope I can take another class of his! He truly cares and is an amazing professor.
Dr. Norander is a GOAT. His lectures is amazing. Econ can be tough but he really doing a pretty good job of teaching it. He give us 2 chances to complete the homework. Take this guy if you want your grade to be high
Prof. Norander is a good teacher, but has a tendency to come off passive aggressive if you don't meet his expectations. He saw the class as very easy which meant that several students who were struggling in his class were afraid to reach out for help. He's also a very tough grader, so put a lot of effort into the papers he assigns.
never any homework other than an essay assignment every few weeks. class is relatively easy and the tests are based on the quizzes. he makes lectures engaging in the way he speaks and definitely seems passionate about the subject. when it comes to essays/projects, just follow the rubric and you'll get a good grade
Must study for exams— great lecturer
Very good professor, class is just very hard. No extra credit so make sure you try on every homework assignment.
If you don't want to be bored to death and don't want to have business be ruined for you, do not take this professor. He speaks and writes very slowly, dragging out his words, taking forever to get to the point. Because of this, I never paid attention in class and almost got a B.
Per Norander was amazing, I was worried going in that Macro would be tough for me but the way he teaches the material makes this class a breeze. I wish I had the opportunity to take him for Micro that's just how good he is. Attend the lectures and take notes, that's how you'll get through and become a better student in the end!
Per is a great guy. He cares that his students do well in his class and makes notes very easy to follow. He does make it a point to tell students to show up to class and does use and attendance sheet but you are not graded on attendance. No projects. Homework based on the days you meet as a class. Very accommodating if you have to miss an exam.
Professor Norander's class is challenging but rewarding. His engaging lectures, practice exams, and helpful PAL sessions make the material click. unstuck AI was a game-changer for my study prep. Definitely recommend this class!
Good professor but you definitely need to put time towards the course outside of class. Econ is overall an iffy subject for some and for this course you need to study or you wont do well.
Prof. Norander is very friendly, professional and funny. He is very good at getting the class involved.
He talks so slow and gives me a headache every time he tries to teach.
Love him! He's an amazing professor and knows how to teach. I wish everyone did it like him, but alas they don't.
The way he teaches really does not work for me.
Per is an excellent professor who really knows the information. Lectures are very easy to follow but CRUCIAL to doing well in this course. Information taught in this course builds from simple concepts taught in calculus and principles of micro. Exams can be tough so make sure you really have a grasp on the information to do well on exams.
Overcomplicates everything, avoid.
Best professor I have ever had. Took Macro with him and he was so good I took him again for Micro. Super knowledgeable and the way he explains the content makes so much sense. Very funny dad-esque sense of humor. Absolutely recommend, but you gotta go to class or else you will not do great.
Takes attendance but doesn't grade it. His class is one of those things where you either get what he's teaching naturally or you don't, and if you don't he gets upset that those who don't are 'slowing down' those who already understand the material. Don't take him if micro econ doesn't come easily to you.
Easy to follow lectures and exams are just like the homework.
Professor Norander is a very engaging and keeps lectures interesting. He is also very clear about course material and what will be on homework and exams. The only reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5 is parts of the homework. The graphs on the homework are very hard to get correct and were consistently the thing that brought down my homework grade
Professor Norander is amazing. His lectures are very detailed, if you read the textbook chapter before hand it truly helps. Theres a decent amount of homework, but it is actually very helpful. He doesn't require attendance but go to class or you will be lost. He truly cares if you understand the material, and will give you resources and help if not
He is a very smart guy who knows his stuff and is nice. however i did not click with his teaching style or the way he grades. tests are also extremely hard and graded harshly
Great professor! He absolutely taught well. He's always willing to help everyone and anyone. Hopefully, I can take another class with him.
Great professor, absolutely amazing!
He's a nice guy. As long as you show up and pay attention in class, you'll probably get an A.
He is one of the best professors at UNCC. I took all my Economics classes with him. Took Macro, Micro and then Managerial Econ. His lectures are so much interesting and he encourages students to take notes in class. Exams are based on homework. Exams are very easy if you review homework and notes. I would definitely take him again :)
Was boring to listen to during lectures and can be sassy. Not the best at teaching, but it could be worse.
I did not get his teaching style because he would overexplain a lot of things, kind of like you were a child exaggerating words like "market", "surplus", "shortage". He assigned 4 exams for the entire semester, so he expects you to spend a lot of time studying for them. If you have a job or anything important to do, then you will fall behind.
The subject itself was challenging to me but he broke it down well. The tests weren't too long and I think the lowest one along with lowest homework got dropped. Attendance wasn't mandatory but he did take attendance so if you missed a lot of class he would email you to check in. I think he would post lectures from class as well.
I had him in an "intro to college" / "intro to business" class. He was a great starting point with setting expectations for college. He explained everything very well and wasn't afraid to call us out when we weren't preforming at our best when he knew we could.
The tests are just like the practice assignments, show up do the HW and you will come out with a passing grade, great Professor
Professor Norander was such a great professor to have. His teaching style made things easy to grasp and he explains it very well. The tests are exactly like the hw so do those and you will be good. A decent number of assignments throughout the semester but nothing bad at all. Recommend him heavily!
