This prof is the worst prof ever. It is totally absurd that a man like this should be teaching any class, anywhere. Totally unprofessional, this prof plagerizes his exams off the internet and because they are from other universtities, with different courses, the exams are impossible. I HATE this man

He is a useless professor and if it is impossible to take biology 159 and 169 with a different professor I would suggest taking the classes via correspondance. He does not have any knowledge in physiology and anatomy therefore he is not able to teach precise, accurate, and required material.

I find that he isn't actually teaching considering that he is just downloading powerpoints of the internet then reading them out in class. The university should save money and have a money take his job. I believe that the monkey would be just as effective.

Tests are very misleading, lectures irrelevant to test. Will focus on only one or two small areas of lecture and have major tests based almost entirely on them, have fun trying to guess which one or two parts to study up on. I expected him to be more reasonable as a prof. He is a fairly nice guy as a person, but not good as a professor.

Plagarizes his notes from other universities, doesn't know what he's talking about. He knows more about bird anatomy than humans. Imagine, $100,000 a year to read powerpoints of a slide to a class and not answer any questions. Pretty good score really.

Percy was my teacher at a small college in Winnipeg when he was working on his PhD. There were 5 people in his genetics class and he graded us on a bell curve. One A, one B, one C....you can bet the person who got an F wasn't too impressed. He was a terrible teacher and his lab coat smelled like feet.

SUCKS at teaching.....loves birds....sucks at teaching!!!!!!Reads powerpoint notes...that's not his. Mideterms questions...are not his. Good to know he knows how to google his work off the internet.

Thank you, Mr Hebert, for the worst experience of my academic 'career'. Not only does he mark horribly unfair, but his critiques are pointless and entirely ego driven. He should not be a teacher. He is not helpful at all.

Doesn't even know you exist. His notes are incomplete and there is no contents to this course so he doesn't have to pay attention to his students other than marking exams. His tests are irrelevant to the course material and sets you up for a hard exam. Get to know your textbook word for word. Would never recommend taking a course from him.

By far the worse class that I have ever taken through TRU. I worked hard and I was eager to learn, but he didn't seem to care. I enjoyed biology, but didn't enjoy him as a teacher.

Unclear on course content, no supplemental aid, and exams are not well written.

This is an online course I am taking through TRU and I have worked very hard on assignments but yet only get a C- grade. Very disappointing, and the fact its online makes it even harder!

After reading the horrible reviews here, I still went ahead and took his course. Avoid him at all costs. When you carefully word and write a long email asking for help, get ready to receive a cold, generic short answer. Terribly unorganized yet he expects you to figure out what is required.

Ridiculously hard marker who will take off countless marks on your assignments unless you go into excruciating detail that goes far past what the course material actually teaches.

I took the ENVS course with him this semester. he is way far from being a human and as cold as ice. I hope he and his family gets the worst in life because of what he does to students

The only course I've ever dropped. There were some seriously unclear questions on the assignments; I tried to get help for weeks and got nowhere. Feedback was rude and sarcastic. The textbook was engaging but had nothing to do with the content being examined - it's an online class, so no lectures either. I suggest avoiding this prof if you can.

Percy was one of the worst profs I've ever encountered in my university career. He's an extremely hard marker and gives very little feedback. When asking for guidance over email he only gives short and cold replies. Avoid taking it or any other classes that he is associated with.

Instructor was not helpful during the learning process. Don't take this course if you don't have to from him. Will distroy you're average. Very tough marker and does not explain to you why or let's you see the exams. Impossible to get good marks in this course.

Absolute horrid instructor. Expects an absurd amount of writing and reading to be done for one course. If your answer doesn't fit his idea of an answer it's wrong; he expects so much more than what a question outlines and asks for. If you can avoid taking his class, save yourself.

Found its not worth your time to take this course online. No support. No Feedback. Tough Grader. Does not give clear questions and answers on the final. Setting yourself up for an impossible pass.

Teacher and OL exams will rob you of your money, horrible teacher and horrible course. you could get an A on the two midterms and still not pass the course because of the final and if you do, you could get a very low/ poor grade that isn't worth your time and will destroy your application requirement.

Not an educator. Period. He is a difficult person to be around. If you have the choice of not taking a course him, then do not take a course from him. You will most likely fail. He is a very hard marker. I recieved great marks in my other classes and he gave me barely passing marks. I was initially shocked, I have never recieved such low marks. I agree with the other posts, this definitely seemed more like an English class. I put so much effort into my papers and know they were worthy of a better mark.

DO NOT TAKE A COURSE WITH THIS PROFESSOR! This course sounded great, but it was ruined by this instructor. I have never received a grade this low in my entire academic career. He is not helpful, doesn't respond to emails or mark assignments promptly, and has no problem failing you with little feedback. Do not make the same mistake that I did.

I am an A student in my BScN and failed the final exam of this course. Not impressed.

Didn't want to believe the reviews on here that I discovered after enrolling in this course. This professor will pass or fail you by couple percent. Has his own opinion on what is correct. If your answers don't match up with what he wants exactly, its wrong. Doesn't know how to use the online Moodle platform for his course. Avoid his courses.

Gives little feedback. Horrible grader. I had an open book assignment and needed to define a term... I used the definition from the textbook glossary and he haven me 1 out of 3. Horrible professor whos ambiguous grading completely discouraged me from wanting to learn throughout the course. Only thing that saved the course was a good textbook.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I'm a 4th year student with a 4.0 GPA and wasn't sure if I was going to pass the class. Super critical marker, doesn't give helpful feedback, just re-writes sentences the way he wants them to be. If you ask for extra support.. you won't get it. Wish I would have dropped the class after almost failing my first assignment.

THIS PROF is a JOKE! I am an A+ student who got offered scholarships if I would accept to go to their University. After completing my first assignment I had received a grade in the 60 percentile range. Percy rewrote my answers saying the same thing in some cases showing me his inattention. I quit the class after that, it's not worth the headache.

I recommend submiting a formal complait. I did this succeccfully and recieved a grade change as he has failed me for the course. - Formal Academic Appeal: if you disagree with your Final Grade you have the option to file an appeal. The form and instructions can be found through delivery support at TRU.

The course is not provided with a clear marking guideline so marks are seemingly random. Corrected their own feedback by striking through text and there was also spelling errors. I was consistently marked down for being critical of specific view points, which I assume the professor must hold. I would expect much more from a professor at this level.

Doesn't care very much about teaching, makes barely any effort to answer questions, provide helpful feedback, or engage the student. Unfortunately, yes, that means he marks assignments unfairly and expects you to read his mind, all while contradicting himself constantly. I've done well under tough profs before, but he's just downright incompetent.

Terrible. He gave horrid feedback and wasn't clear about why he was docking marks. I have a super high GPA, and this is by far the only class in which I've performed this poorly. Percy should go back to studying birds, and avoid humans altogether.

worst person I ever dealt with , this is my second degree , I have never had a professor like this , racist and sexist. Hates his job , karma will get him one day and he will fail his career for trying to ruin others. Percy is the worst professor I've had. If your writing isn't exactly how he wants, he will rewrite your entire assignment. Point blank, he should not be teaching. If your goal is to fail students then why bother becoming a professor. Would not recommend. His class will only drop your GPA.

Percy was the worst prof I ever encountered in my entire degree. Hes extremely nit picky about grades and does not provide any sort of rubric to see where you actually lost marks. Im an A student and I received a C+. Another TRU prof looked over his marking of my assignments and Im not pushing an academic appeal. Avoid his class at all costs.

An investigation is going on by TRU supporting all students that were affected by this unfair and cruel prof. If there was unjust marking or hopes for you to get your assignments looked over please join the Facebook group made by students who were treated unfairly by this man. This is by far the hardest class I have ever taken and he is the hardest marker who does not provide clear instructions or feedback. Do not take this class unless you are willing to have your GPA dropped

Percy Hebert is not an Educator. I cannot speak to his character but what I can say is that he should not be employed as an instructor in any capacity. What disappoints me most is that TRU continues to employ him, despite the trauma he causes. It is irresponsible. After this experience, I think so much less of TRU. They should be ashamed.

I am currently taking this class that he was put onto due to an issue with another prof. I have to say I will never take another class with him again if I can help it. He is a terrible marker and does not give feedback at all. I have reached out to the university about filing a complaint about him and so far I have hit roadblock after roadblock.

Extremely hard marker and gives no feedback. Very cold and brief over email when questions are asked. Basically dumps on your grammar if it doesn't match the way he prefers it. Has no empathy at all. Dropped my GPA significantly. If you don't want severe trauma, don't take his class!!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!! He is more interested in re-writing your entire assignment to appear like the smartest guy in the room. He will re-write your work even if the information is correct. Takes pride in giving 60% grades, anybody else and you will score 80%+ does not matter how much work you put into the course.

This professor simply should not be an educator at all as he is so single-minded that he cant even read a paper that is worded a different way than he would word it. He re-writes your entire paper and gives you 60s to 50s, and when you contact him about these marks he is so unconsiderate. Being an educator is teaching not critisizing. Dont bother

I highly recommend avoiding Percy if at all possible. I studied harder for the mid terms and final exam than any other course I've ever taken, and still did not do very well in the course. When I asked to review tests to see what mistakes you made, he refuses saying the exam material is confidential. How can we learn if we don't see our mistakes?

One of the worst online learning experiences by far. It's amazing a prof like this can stay on the university's payroll with such a universally bad rating. Incredibly vague grading rubric. AVOID HIS CLASSES!! I agree with ALL the negative reviews; HORRIBLE experience! I'm an honors student and received a 66% on my first assignment -told it was a "good start." Limited/poor feedback; deducted points for missing a definition; it was at the end of the paragraph- clearly he didn't even read it all. He is a VERY POOR REFLECTION of TRU!

If you somehow find yourself taking a class taught(!) by him, drop the class immediately unless you want to be traumatized. Not an educator. I repeat. Not an educator. Do not take a course taught by this person. Arbitrary marking and extremely rude. It's amazing that TRU continues to keep this person as faculty.

Prof does not give good feedback for improvement. Does not allow for exam or test review, or to even challenge the grade you receive. Even if you have experience in medicine or in health it will not help here. Proff gives lowest possible marks on written answers so even if you are correct you will never know. AVOID THIS CLASS!!!!

Percy Hebert, is, in short, an extremely picky grader. You can hand him every right answer, and he'll ask for more. For instance, he docked me a mark for not clarifying that ATP synthase was a quaternary protein, when it was not even listed in the textbook. He's also extremely inconsistent with what he grades right and wrong. Don't even bother.

Thank you for wasting my life, and destroying my GPA.

UNFAIR. NOT RIGHT. I have spoken to the university and they are already aware many many students have issues with him. I passed BIOL1001 with a D! Highly unusual for me. I worked very hard and even hired a tutor (who by the way is a biologist in this specific field). I worked hard, received 50 on the exam??? It was totally unfair, completely.

Worst teacher I've ever had in my whole history of academia. I was operating at an A level but he consistently gave me C's, despite my honors average and work level. Appealed to the school and got upgraded to A. Teacher should be fired, no idea why the school lets this corrupt person work for them. Went from C- at the end to A-. Says it all.

Never take any courses with Percy Herbert ... stay away! I was told because of union seniority, Percy having lots of seniority at TRU, gets first selections to students that sign for Science courses. Basically seniority over quality of education with Percy Herbert. I don't recommend this professor at all. Pay all that tuition and for what????

Poor feedback, only single sentences. Arbitrary grading. Unreasonable standards for a first year course. Content expected not present in textbooks. Refused to correct grade discrepancies between assignment and final grade. Tons of reading. No amount of effort will improve your grade. Drop the class or get ready to appeal your grade.

Usually A student, I had to hold back tears being invigilated for exam. Didn't even think I had the link to the right class. Anytime I write a midterm, sends message telling me to review basically all the concepts of the chapters even when I got an 83% on one of them. When I ask what I did wrong, tells me he cant discuss the test. WORST PROF EVER

The worst class/professor I've ever had. Would devour the textbook (only teaching material for class) and found terms on midterms that were not in the textbook. Even if it's independent study, being told to review the chapter when you had questions about the concepts/exams isn't helpful. It's discouraging when you can't even review your midterms because of their policy, so it's hard to assess where you can improve. Lots of memorization needed, and he's a tough grader :(

He makes all student stressed out by the comments he puts on assignment. His assignment are just way too hard and he thinks you copy everything. 40 pages of work isn't enough for him. He also take way too long to mark assignment. If you are in class get out, it not worth your time. He is probably the worst teacher I have ever had in my life.

Even though I got A+ for both BIOL159 and BIOL169, I totally agree that this professor is the worst I have ever met. He didn't give constructive feedback and took too long to answer questions. He even responded my questions by only few words, which was useless and didn't really answer questions at all.

I never written one of these but, Percy was so bad that here I am. I take everything with a grain of salt on this website but, I am telling you all the negative comments are true. Awful and isolating learning experience. He even makes mistake in his self tests so you can study something off his notes and get it wrong on the exam.

I took two courses from Percy and had such a bad experience that I decided to change my major completely. Not only did I fail both classes, I lost my job due to burnout. DO NOT take a class with this instructor. His courses are WAY too tough for first-year science.

Absolutely, without a doubt, the worst learning experience of my life. Do not expect any useful feedback. Do not expect grading against clear criteria. Do not expect any guidance you receive to reflect actual policies or parameters with respect to deadlines...you will be merrily led onto the rocks to crash and sink. Proceed at your own peril.
