Excellent teacher. Periklis is a little slow-paced, but you learn so much from him. I recommend him to EVERYONE.
Periklis is the best drawing teacher out there. He explains everything really well, with demonstrations and makes drawing so much easier. He is the head of the department, so he really knows his stuff. Take him!
He's a cute old guy who cares about his students and makes silly jokes and then laughs about them. I loved his teaching methods. I learned a lot. He's easy to approach and good at explaining what he wants from you. He's not too tough of a grader but for the most part I felt challenged. I would definetly recommend this teacher.
Okay so Perkilis is a really great guy. He is super nice and funny to talk to. But, he is a horrible teacher unless you know NOTHING about drawing. I learned nothing, and i got an A+ on every single project or class assignment just because i knew how to draw a straight line. that would be fine, exept that i want what i pay for.

Very vague on assignments.
Such a kind and extremely helpful gentleman. My confidence in my drawing has grown immensely after his class.
Very vague about expectations for assignments. If he was clearer about the homework up front, I would not have pulled so many all-nighters after having to redo a project following his clarifications. Assigns a lot of work.
Very Kind man, love his class, does assign a LOT of work but very helpful and understanding. He is the chairman of Foundation studies but he does an excellent job teaching his classes
He is a great teacher! He is very considerate and understanding. He will help you a lot even if you can't draw at all. He will give extension for homeworks if you ask for it.
Pagratis is such a darling! He genuinely loves teaching and will do anything for his students if they just ask for it. His classwork eases you into drawing well enough. He is ESL though and has a thick accent so it is at times difficult to understand his lectures. He encourages interrupting his talks with questions though. I want to take him again!
Very nice man. At first I felt like I wasn't learning anything, like I was taking 3 lefts to make one right, but in the end everything made sense. I learned a lot from his class, even though I didn't feel like I was learning anything.
He is super lenient with late stuff and computer problems for sketch submission. Basically does the work for you!!
He's really great. The best way to describe him is the Mr. Miyagi of drawing. At first you don't think you learn anything then you realize it applies to everything. He's teaching you how to see things then drawing kind of comes.
Professor Pagratis is a true educator. I came in terrified of this class not knowing how to draw. He has guided me on a path to a point I am NO longer afraid to draw. Impressive to say the least. Workload is heavy but has its' purpose. I am taking him again!!!
He is so much fun! He doesn't care about you listening to music in class and is very lenient about late work. At the end of the quarter he took suggestions about what his class could improve on.
Pagratis is a true inspiration. He has been a wonderful mentor and professor to me. He comes with the upmost recommendation. If you are lucky enough to have a class with him, take it! Go with an open mind and soak in all the knowledge he has to share.
He's absolutely the kindest professor here hands down; always willing to help you out and is very understanding even if you can't draw to save your life (like me). He made what i thought was going to be a super hard class into something that I enjoyed and wasn't too bad at all. Great for beginners.
One of the best professors I've had here. He cares about how you're doing in his class, and is always willing to help you when you need it. He assigns quite a bit of work though. I'm always working on big projects for this class. He can spend an entire class giving a lecture, so be prepared. I've learned a lot, so he's definitely worth taking.
Pagratis is a nice guy, he really is. But his expectations for some assignments are very unclear and confusing. The homework he assigns to you is very repetitive and boring too. His teaching style just didn't click with me. On the plus side, he's not a very harsh grader.
Pagratis earns the respect of anyone with the honor of having his class. He knows his stuff, presents it well, & is always there for his students. I'm not very good at drawing, but Pagratis really helped me through this class. He is very willing to help anyone with an eagerness to learn. An easy grader, but he'll know if you are slacking. Great!
One of my favorite professors here at SCAD. He's a great guy, hilarious, and always willing to help you no matter what. I came into the class with no knowledge about drawing, and by the third week, I kid you not, I was drawing as well as many of the Illustration majors.
He's a great guy but has a really annoying way of teaching this class, doesn't realize that most of us know how to perfectly render a still life and expects to throw away all that knowledge and relearn it all with his special technique. his syllabus is a mess, so many assignments; never covers everyone's work during critique.
Pagratis is a great guy, really. He's a lovely old man, however, on some things, he's a bit blind. He generalizes and thinks that's what easy for most, is easy for all. Luckily, he's getting better. Always willing to help and is pretty flexible. He responds quickly to emails too. However, his assignments can get a little complicated.
Pagratis is a great guy! But his class was frustrating. He made us do our projects using his own technique, which was hard and not that great. In the end, nobody really had any portfolio pieces. I mean, you get the hang of his process at the very end, but I wish we didn't have to use it. He's an easy grader though, but his demonstrations are long!
I did not agree/like his adding and subtracting method which he expects you to use (I ended up doing half of his projects my way instead) but he is an extremely helpful and easy teacher as long as you put in effort and complete his assignments. His syllabus is kind of all over the place so just remember to stay on track.
Super awesome everyone should take him. He's the most funny person you will ever meet. Do t worry about the grades just work he will be there for you
Pagratis is a really nice man. All he requires is that you show up, try your best, and follow his method. It doesn't matter what your major is or if you have any drawing skill. Listen, pay attention, and just have a positive attitude. Also, sketchbook work is due every week, TURN THEM IN.
Pagratis is insanely nice and is very lenient on turning in work late if you forget to do it or run out of time. Overall he is very very understanding. On the other hand his style of teaching is very particular so prepare to learn a new version of drawing. His assignments are repetitive: lots of still lives and homework is the same thing every week
Periklis is such a nice professor. He's caring and he gives good critiques and feedback. The lectures run pretty long but other than that he's a good choice and I would recommend.
One of the BEST professors at SCAD! I took him for Drawing 100 and 101. He is there for you no matter what and wants the best for his students! He is lenient and very understanding. Make sure to follow his process, pay attention to his lectures, and put forth your best effort on all assignments and you'll end up with an A! TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
Pagratis is an amazing professor. He really knows a lot about drawing, and if you put in the effort and follow his methods you will learn a lot. I saw a major amount of improvement in the 10 weeks of taking his course.
Do yourself a favor and take this class! Pagratis is great, don't be intimidated by the big syllabus. He breaks drawing down to the basics, makes the process feel so easy, he's so helpful, and he's a very sweet and humorous guy. All the projects are done in class, the homework isn't bad and if you do it you have a great chance at an A.
He is very caring and makes drawing very easy. While he has a lot of projects kind of overlapping, it helps with making grading not so scary and skill based. He really helps you understand the basics of drawing without making you fear it.
Loved this professor! Cares about you and about you learning. Learned SO MUCH in his class! He's patient, takes his time, gives lots of help and examples, works with you non-stop! Grading is to the point, so no you can't goof off. Great personality! Workload is well distributed between class and home. Can't wait to take DRAW101 with him! Recommend!
Perkilis is one of the most caring professors you will meet. He always asks how you are doing and he provides very helpful criticism. While he can lecture for a good hour and a half he teaches you how he expects everything to be done. All of his assignments are still lifes. He also assigns lots of homework as long as you do it you have an easy "A".
cant say enough good things about this incredible person I have never met a professor that cares as much as he does for his students. he TOPS. THE. CAKE. trust his process, do your work, and soak it all in. I took him for both Draw100 and Draw101 (at 8pm!!). I am truly jealous of the students who will have the opportunity to learn from him
He is extremely nice and cares a lot about the class. He was tough when it comes to the ways he wants the assignments done but was very caring when it came to making sure everyone understood what was being asked.
He's a really nice guy and very forgiving, but I did not learn a single thing nor did I improve. If anything, I feel like my skills have gotten worse from lack of practice. If you are not in a drawing heavy major this class is perfect for you since you don't do that much in terms of difficulty, but if you are looking to improve, avoid this class.
I absolutely love this professor but I would never ever take him again. Expect three projects due EACH class. Super lecture heavy, I barely touched a pencil during class. Hes hilarious, caring and you will have a good time in his class, if you dont mind the homework take him.
Don't take this class if you know how to draw. Although he is super caring and a really nice man, his classes are so boring and useless. He sticks to a specific method he has for shading which is super annoying and useless, and the final piece doesn't even look good. Also, his classes are basically 1h15 minutes lecture and then 30-40 mins drawing.
He's probably one of the best teachers I've ever had. He really cares and tells you what you personally need to hear about your work. He loves to see his students succeed and will tell you what he honestly thinks but he gives you constructive criticism, not just criticism. One of the best and chillest teachers I've had.
I loved his Drawing II class! He had a lot of sketchbook assignments and a lot of work in class but you really learn a lot if you can take a deep breath and accept what he tells you. Trust the process is his motto and its definitely true. Always asks before touching your art. Really caring.
Periklis is an amazing person!! Actually wanted to go to class. But eventhough we were learning a lot, we didnt create projects that seemed final or that we could add to our portfolios (nothing of his gets on the wall ever) until the last project. This was frustrating at times because I wasnt seeing any results and sometimes kept me unmotivated.
Ok so I took drawing 1 with periklis and I had NO idea how to draw, so I was super nervous going into that class. If you follow his exact directions then the class is a breeze and something you should look forward to. He made drawing much easier than I thought it was going to be. Im now taking drawing II with him!
Overall he's a good teacher, though his teaching methods may be a little tedious sometimes. He is good natured and likes to laugh. If you have a problem just talk to him; he's very approachable. He is also always open to feedback, which is really nice. You can definitely get an A if you do all the assignments.
This class is very lecture heavy for your average drawing class but this is seriously one of the nicest and caring professors Ive had. Theres a fair amount of work but he definitely grades based on effort and is a great professor if youre lacking is previous art experience. However, i wouldnt recommend if you have lots of previous drawing info.
He is a sweet person and is very understanding. I do think though that this was not a challenging class for Drawing II. If you already know how to draw, this class will feel boring to you. You dont really draw as much as you just layer, which doesnt give lots of details. He does though give great feedback and gives you as much help as you need.
Pagratis is a wonderful person. I loved his lectures and definitely learned things from his class. He is extremely knowledgable. BUT, it is sometimes hard to understand instructions and time management is really bad in class. Definitely ask questions, but try not to prolong the talking at the begining of class, as fun as it is.
Very understanding, willing to help, gives great feedback in a positive and caring way. It can be easy to get discouraged if youve never drawn classically but you can pass if you do all the assignments. Not the easiest, but his grading is based more on if you grasp the concept hes teaching rather than how good you are at drawing. Learned tons!
Ask lots of questions and RECORD THE DEMOS! He is very open and easy to talk to. Lots of positive feedback. Kind and caring.
Wonderful person and fantastic teacher. Really helped me learn to draw! Before his class I hated drawing because I really wasnt good at it, but he teaches a clear process that if you can follow, provides awesome results! You have to work hard, do the homework, and be determined but I really did progress so much. He's very kind and forgiving.
He is very nice and good! I want to take his class again!
The best teacher I've had at SCAD so far. Actually cares about his students and will go above and beyond to make sure you understand and are learning. Very funny as well.
Professor Pagratis is one of the most understanding professors I've ever had. He gives a lot of work but if you keep up with it, it's very manageable. He gives really good feedback and I would recommend taking his class to anyone.
Pagratis has a bunch of components to this class which is a little hard to keep track of, and he's not always good at time management, BUT he's so nice and caring! Also this is a GREAT class if you don't know how to draw just pay attention to the process and do it and you'll pass.
Pagratis has a great personality and visible joy for what he does. But, I was definitely confused and overwhelmed during the quarter. Lessons/syllabus tended to be too detailed for what the assignment actually ended up being. But, he gives SO much of his own time in between class periods and after-school hours to help and give one-on-one sessions.
Professor Pagratis is genuinely one of the nicest teachers I've ever had, such a caring person. He's very lighthearted and likes to joke but his class drags A LOT. It's like 80% lecture, 20% studio work. He over explains assignments to the point they become confusing. I'm torn because he's a great person but the class is overall stressful.
He is an ok guy, but in terms of homework he assigns it makes me feel like he hates the student. On top of that the syllabus is a total mess and very confusing. I wouldn't recommend anyone to take this course unless your extremely good at drawing.
I did not find his demonstrations of in class assignments helpful because he was using Microsoft paint to show us what to draw by hand. There were many times I thought I understood chiaroscuro, but his lectures wind and weave so much that I am not sure if I do. He spent too much time helping the talented kids. Left every class frustrated & confused
Pagratis is one of the best teachers at SCAD. He took me "not a draw-er" who hated the idea of drawing to a very confident artist in 1 quarter. I will always remember his kindness/helpfulness. Drawing ANYTHING isn't overwhelming anymore. If you're looking for a DRAW1 prof who cares about your success and WILL make you better I HIGHLY recommend.
Manageable work and really cool prof. One time had a student come in super stressed and he just let us all scream our lungs out. Love the guy
He cares a lot about his students and their success and is a great guy! I had a lot of fun in this class and learned a lot- there is homework but if you read the syllabus it is very manageable. I will definitely take this professor again!
I love Periklis!!! He is genuinely one of the nicest professors I have ever had. He cares so much about his students wellbeing, and his passion for drawing is very clear. His class may get a little frustrating at times, getting to know the processes of drawing, but it pays off in the end.
Sweet guy that talks a lot about the material that can seem confusing but he always helps you out 1 on 1 in class. It's a lot of small assignments that don't take very long as long but as your on top of things you don't fall behind really. He really does help everyone out in and out of class and cracks jokes during lectures.
Dr. Pagratis is a great professor. He gives amazing lectures and cares about his students. His grading is clear to understand. He is not a tough grader, very calming and only grades best of submitting assignments on time and putting effort. I recommend this professor and course.
He was a very sweet person but he gives 5 assignments at a time. His lectures are very long and every exercise done in class goes at a very slow pace. He doesn't allow you to do things your own way.
Pagratis is super sweet, but not very organized. The class is structured in a way that ends up producing a lot of wasted class time and a lot of homework. He has really great information to teach, but doesn't always do it efficiently.
You are going to love the class if you put time in your work and apply all of what you learn as you go foward. Forget what you knew and absorb what he tells you.
Such an amazing teacher! Really breaks everything down and forces you to learn things from the ground up. If you need help you have to ask!!!! He won't necessarily help you and go in depth if you don't ask for it. When you do, he's so amazing and gives good pointers. Super easy grader and is very caring about all his students.
Great guy! Really has his own way of doing things, but it's cool to learn!
Professor Pagratis has been one of my favorite professors I have ever had. He is so incredibly kind and caring towards his students. He takes the time to actually TEACH you how to draw. The work load is heavy, but you learn so much and you do a lot of the work in class. He does every drawing step by step in class. Incredible professor.
Very caring and understanding. However if you have difficulty working while the professor is talking then you should switch professors.
Prof. Pagratis is an incredibly sweet and caring man, though his lectures can feel a bit drawn out, they're important! You need to listen to every bit in order to meet the assignments expectations. I had gotten COVID finals week and couldn't show up for presentations, but he helped me work around it via email and I still ended up with a good grade
Professor Pagratis is probably the best drawing professor I could have asked for. He's super funny and great at teaching; he gives good feedback. Don't be afraid to ask him to look at your work! Although his lectures can be a bit on the longer side, his class was always super fun and the resulting drawings were very rewarding.
Prof. Pagratis is the best! Had him for DRAW100 and chose him for DRAW101 because he's so good. He uses live demonstrations and digital examples for assignments. Plenty of notes to read. Lots of in-class time to work. HW and research assignments can feel like a lot, but make sure to keep up and ask doubts! He's pretty accommodating and will help.
He's grandpa core. A big lovable guy but be prepared to learn how to draw in a specific manner. His lectures are a little confusing at first but keep trying and it'll eventually click. He has quite a bit of homework but it doesn't feel like busy work.
Very kind and caring professor who makes time to help each student. Gives long lectures each class which can be a bit tiring, but overall a good class.
HES SO GOOD WHAT A KING
One of the nicest, and most inspiring professors I've had; very knowledgeable. At first, his lectures can be confusing, but it does click eventually, so just hold out, and you'll learn a lot! His one on one's are also helpful, and he really cares about his students. And If you're ever overwhelmed, he is super supportive, and will help you out. :)
As a person, Professor Pagratis is genuinely one of the sweetest people I have ever met and deeply cares about each of his students. However, towards the second half of the semester, I found myself doing nothing most days in class, as I finished the final 3 classes early. I thought the homework was redundant and he was VERY unclear on most things.
I absolutely love Pagratis. He obviously cares about his students' learning. He is very skilled and confident in his knowledge. He will be able to help you with any roadblock along the way. Teaches you necessary skills you absolutely will continue to use as visual artist. Lots of work, but that practice does pay off. Reasonable work requirements.
If you have the opportunity to choose professor pagratis's class, you can choose He pays great attention to every class, takes care of everyone. If you don't understand something he will take the trouble to show you again and again. Very responsible. He often praises and encourages his students. Trust me, you're gonna be so happy taking his class.
5 is the rate my professor's upper limit, not Professor Pagratis's upper limit.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU'RE NOT A DRAWER. He grades easily, but I felt very out of place. I'm doing game design, and I was expected to draw like an art major. Teaching style is VERY weird. - Expected to know EVERY detail he says, expects you to know everything by next class. - Told me to look up "inspiration" I WOULD NOT TAKE HIM AGAIN
I will say he is very sweet but he throws SO much information at you on the first day that it confuses you. Also he sets up blackboard extremely weird. On top of that he expects you to understand EVERYTHING right after he explains it. Also you have to buy the supplies for his class because he does not allow you to use different materials.
Professor pagratis is very caring and overall a very sweet man. He puts the energy and effort into the students and really it shows in how he runs the classroom. If you stay on top of the work, and do as he says, it really pays off well. I am overall satisfied with how I learned this quarter, my only complaint is blackboard is set up super weird
Professor Pagratis is a sweet guy who will help you understand his lectures IF you ask. He throws a lot of information at you, but he is a nice grader and just wants you to learn. That being said, he does not give you feedback on what you are doing well or could improve. But it is an easy A if you do the work, which isn't a lot of work luckily.
I'm still a current student of Professor Pagratis. This man is the best teacher I've ever had. I am so bad at drawing and do not enjoy it, but I love going to his class because he is just so sweet and caring. He has explained how to do the same things to me 100 times and would explain them 100 more to make sure I understand. 100% would recommend.
He genuinely cares about his students and wants to teach you the proper methodology. I think I learned more in his class than any other. It was a lot of work, and, honestly, I did my final in one night. Got a 100, too. He's real for that because I know he can tell when work is rushed. Highly recommend him if you are willing to really listen & learn
Hes one of those professors you can tell genuinely cares about his students. Hes got good vibes, is passionate and very knowledgeable abt drawing, and was very sweet. Finding some things for assignments in all of the pdfs was a bit hard, but when you did it had all u need to know. Hard class, but in a way that challenged me and taught me new skills
Genuinely one of the kindest, funniest and wonderful professors I've had. I had some problems with one of the projects mid-quarter and he was so understanding and encouraging. His lectures and explanations could be very confusing, but once the idea clicks, you are set. Very, very thorough "briefs" for projects. Better for students with experience.
Very sweet and caring to his students. Be prepared for a lot of work though, it can be very overwhelming. His lectures can be a little hard to understand sometimes, but if you put in the work he'll meet you halfway. If you're actively participating in class, you will learn a lot. He genuinely wants to see his students thrive.
He is really sweet and willing to help when you need, but at the end he will only grade you based on if you submit your assignments with the specific file name, number of pixels and etc the way he wants. He is not flexible at all, you have to have the exact materials he picked, and do your drawings in the exact steps he chooses
The kindest and most caring teacher I've ever had in my life. I'm horrible at drawing, and I got an A in this class because, unlike a lot of foundations teachers, he grades based on what you learn and the progress you make, not skill. 10/10 would take again and again.
Prof Pagartis was extremely kind, organized, and professional. He makes sure all his students are keeping up with work but not feeling pressured. He is clearly very skilled at what he does, and I learned a lot in his course.
Professor Pagratis is very caring and wants each of his students to succeed. He is more than willing to give you one-on-one advice. He is very friendly and an even more incredible teacher. The more you put in, the more you get out.
I knew practically nothing about drawing going into class, and learned so much! He is very encouraging and understanding. Stay on top of your work and show him you care about the class and put in effort in everything you do. Grades aren't necessarily based on how good a piece is; it's based on how much you learned and grew in the process.
