she is good teacher hey u should be in here class
Excellent Teacher. Super helpfull. Willing to work with each individuals learning needs. Smiles always and has a great sense of humor. Even if you get a low grade she makes you fell ok and helps you to do better.
Shes got to be one of the best math teachers i've ever had. she does not collect homework. If you are having problems learning the stuff you can get personal help from her, and she will help you till you learn how to do the problem. her test are really easy, most of them don't go over 20 problems. trust me you'll like her.
She is a fantastic teacher! I am really bad at math, and I understand everything she teaches. She is always willing to help out.
She is very approachable and fair. She worked with me several times after class when I was confused.
good teacher, very helpful and caring. She is also pretty hot.
The best math teacher I have ever had. I am not very good with math and she explains everything with clarity. Her tests are fairly easy if you study the material. Honestly, thanks to her I actually like math more!!!
Mrs. Brock is very helpful with everything. She takes things really slow so that everyone in the class gets a chance to learn. She goes over things over and over to make sure they are clear. Very good teacher.
this teacher was alright
she is a very helpfull and nice. and she is pretty hot
She teaches subject well and makes the subject interesting. plus she is super hot. probably the hottest teacher at the school
The best math teacher I've had. Her tests are fairly easy and she takes time to explain the material. I actually like math more because of her.
I took this professor about a year and a half ago. She was very clear on her expectations and always more then willing to help. If you had special circumstances, she was also willing to help/work with you. I do think she was a hard grader. I did all my work with tutors and usually got b's on them. I would recommend though. One of the best teachers.
I'm awful with math, never did my homework and passed the class with a B. She's pretty good at explaining things, though she makes up nicknames for processes which can be confusing. She's really helpful if you approach her for help. She drops the lowest test grade and gave a few extra quizzes to help boost our grades. She was cool.
she is nice, pretty, and dresses very well. she doesn't really go off topic.. which is good but also lame cause she doesn't make much effort to get to know you or have you get to know her. i found it very hard to learn, it might have been just me, but she just explained things WAY TOO technical.she needs to loosen up a little bit. i passed with a c
amazing teacher. she made math more enjoyable and easier to understand.never late and she is always their to help you.
Great Teacher that is always willing to go over things when someone in class dont understand. The tests were simple if you do the homework and the pretests. Great Teacher would take again but thank god im done with math
Great teacher, clear, knows her stuff - smiles a lot! Super hot!
Excellent teacher!! I wish she was teaching Math130 in Fall 2009. She makes it very easy to understand step by step. If you attend her class & pay attention, you will do great.
Professor Brock is a very good Professor. She is very organized and each class she writes an outline of topics covered in class. Professor Brock is VERY accessable. She is more than willing to meet you one on one during office hours. I highly recommend. Math isn't easy for me, but I did well in her class.
Excellent professor, helpful, nice, always happy and cheerful. You cannot go wrong with Professor Brock. Highly recommended.
Perri Brock's MATH140 class isn't for everyone. It's not easy, and requires dedication more so than many of the other classes offered by Palomar. However; she is crystal clear in her explanations, her lectures cover topics extensively, she has lots of office hours, her tests reflect the homework, and she is absolutely fine as hell. Recommended.
Mrs. Brock is an excellent teacher. She made calculus about as clear as someone can possibly make it. She is very passionate about math and is very friendly. Probably the only thing distracting about her class is how good-looking she is!
This is a hard class! Prof. Brock won't give an easy A but she will show you how to earn an A grade. She adapts to you. Whatever math help you need, she'll deliver in a timely manner. Choose this professor!
Brock is awesome! There is no reason not to take her course. She's relatively good about explaining concepts, and she's an incredibly fair grader. All of the homework counted as extra credit and her projects were really easy and kinda fun. Because I kept up on everything, I only needed 72% on my final to get an A in the course, which I did.
She is by far the best math teacher I have ever had! She is clear, precise and friendly... more than willing to meet with you to help explain any areas you may be having difficulty with.
Very hard, is not clear at all during her lectures, and the homework is hard to figure out. she is not as good looking as people say. i feel ripped off,it seems like some person made alot of good comments about her for personal gain. SHE IS VERY HARD AND HAS AWFUL TEACHING STYLES!!!!
She is a cool teacher and no, one person didn't go through and put nice things up for her.I know a bunch of people who have taken her class on purpose and we all really like her.Sometimes I can't understand what she's talking about but if you do the HW right away it helps clarify everything. She'll go over anything you want and has office hours
Best Math teacher I've had at palomar so far. Explains every section clearly. Homework counts for extra credit. Drops lowest test score and replaces it with final if the grade on final is higher
Great teacher. she really pays attention to make sure everyone learns, and she breaks things down for you so its easy to learn. homework is optional, but it is helpful, and its not a lot. grades only by tests but they are fairly easy if u do hw. goes by rules so she follows attendence rules and always gives 10 min break so your out on time.
NICEST TEACHER EVER! very helpful. Assigns homework, but you dont even have to turn it in. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING HER.
Shes dumber than a rock and difficult to follow. Shes not hot, its more of the fact you have to stare at her that makes her atractive
Doesnt explain very well or spends enough time on material
For taking her fast track math 50 class early this spring. i came to learn that she's a great and helpful teacher.
great teacher, easy to understand, made class fun
Math 60 fast track. Used mathlab online, textbook not required, although I was glad that I had it. Very hard class although I liked her as a teacher.
She's very enthisiastic and actively tries to make the class interesting. Highly recommended.
Brock is a nice teacher. Definitely not the easiest tho. I got all A's in high school math and got up to per-calc. Thinking this would be an easy A, I ended with a C. You have 4 tests and a final. Homework is done online so DON'T get the textbook. Tests are much harder than the homework so don't let homework fool you. Work hard and you'll be fine
Perri is a great teacher, she is extremely helpful and enthusiastic in class. If you want to get a good grade you need to do the homework, although you can still pass if you don't if you know your stuff. You just won't get an A (like me). She's very approachable, friendly, and willing to help. Definitely one of the best professors at Palomar
It is calculus so be ready to devote most of your time to studying for this class if Math does not really get to you. Her online homework is required AND advisable to do because it is really helpful. VERY clean on her teaching and quizzes and tests are very doable, just got to put so much time in studying for them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Prof Larson is great! I didn't earn a high grade in calc, but she passed me when I didn't even try in the class. She has very clean, organized lectures and the tests and quizzes are based off the online homework. She is BEYOND helpful if you go to her office hours or before/after class for help. Put the work in, and you'll love her! RECOMMEND!!!
For not being strong in math, I need a compassionate teacher - Professor Larson is that and more. She loves math and, in my opinion, makes difficult concepts understandable. Yes, she covers more than one section in a class meeting, but come on, people - this is your intro to higher education! Relax and don't be afraid to ask questions. She's great.
She's nice, but I don't like her style of teaching. She caters to those who are having a hard time. She really focuses on group work, we even work on several group projects. She also gives a lot of HW, I mean a lot! Most of the HW is done on Mymathlab. The book chosen for the class sucks, it doesn't give examples.I wish I never took this class.
Do not buy the text book because you pay $90 for an online text book and for your homework. She is extremely nice and will go at an appropriate speed. Warm ups count for points and she'll replace your lowest test grade with your final exam.
Her motive is that you improve your skills on the subject so you can do Math since she loves the subject. 1) 80-100 online weekly hwk problems, 2) 20 book weekly problems, 3) 5 online quizzes,4) 3 group projects. 1-4 were all close aprox. 3 exams, plus final, will drop lowest exam score, textbook could be improved. Be willing to apply yourself!
Professor Larson is absolutely amazing. She is always trying to make math interesting. Her tests are pretty much word-for-word from the practice exam. Professor Larson made math fun and enjoyable.
Extremely clear and helpful. She demonstrates an outstanding knowledge of the subject and is very interested in helping her students. Her homework is all online web assign. You will learn a great deal of integrals in this class and if you plan on taking Math 206 pay close attention. I received a high B in the class and was taking Chem 110 same time
She is A GREAT instructor she is very enthusiastic about her job. She is willing to help you as long as you aren't Stupid and Reckless like i and let your shyness take over you and freeze yourself when either she approaches you asking if you have any questions or need help or if she comes or is near you. Or you want/need to do the same with her!!!!
Best teacher ever!!! Everything so clear, easy class, and easy exams, specially the final. Do all work and you'll pass.
I LOVE THIS TEACHER! By far my favorite teacher at Palomar. She makes everything so easy to understand, and she moves at a comfortable pace. She takes time in class to answer hw questions which is very helpful. There are 4 tests and a final. And points for participation and homework. It is very easy to do well in her class :)
Fantastic teacher. Very clear and engaging with students. She loves her work and loves math. If you struggle with math she is willing to work with you. Tests are short and she drops the lowest score. No extra credit given but this class is easy to do well in.
The best math class I've taken at Palomar by far. She was very clear in explaining the material. She gives you a week to submit hw through webassign. Short tests and drops the lowest grade. Also posts study guides and gives you a weeks notice before each exam. You can tell she is very passionate about math and teaching.
Id fight you just to get a seat in her class again. Great teacher
She is very nice and she will answer any questions that you may have. Always do your homework. She is really good at teaching. Best teacher at Palomar.
Larson was a WONDERFUL teacher, she explains things well but watch out if you aren't good with the theory she may not be all that awesome, spends a LOT of time on the theory and hardly any on practicing problems. I found this to be more of a self taught class with the class time being more of an intro to each topic.
With all honesty I can say that she was the best Math professor I've ever had. She taught very well and was clear on what she expected us to know on the quizzesexams. She made absolutely sure that we knew what was going on before really moving on; and if that wasn't enough, there would always be a little bit of review before moving on.
Perri is an awesome teacher and is passionate about math. Calculus is a tough class no matter what teacher you take, this is my second time. I particularly liked Larson's class because she assigns homework and counts it for points, this gave me the motivation to actually do the homework, which in turn allowed me to be successful in the class.
She is very open and helpful
Sweet woman, but don't be fooled by her laugh. She's set in her ways and doesn't curve grades. Very good teacher and pretty fair in her grading. Doesn't give practice tests, even though we asked for it, but she provides study guides. Overall pretty good teacher but you have to work for that A.
She's a nice women but if you have a hard time with math, I do not recommend her because she moves way to fast with the lessons, does not really do good lectures instead does a lot of group work and at the end shows you the answers. She also won't tell you your grade, you have to keep up with graded papers she handed back. Good luck!
Horrible ! She tends to tell students "you should already know this" way too much. I get that this class is an Algebra class, but gosh she never seems like she wants to help. Be prepared for tests that she grades ridiculously. Homework is on my math lab and personally I'd rather do my work on a paper. Pass the tests, because if not you'll fail.
Gellman is a tough professor. She builds on explanation and expects you to do homework. Her projects are hard but every assignment is given with plenty of time to research and take advantage of office hours/math lab. She does provide practice tests and always answers ANY questions. If you attend the classes and do the homework, you can succeed!
While Prof. Gellman is a nice person, her teaching style takes a while to get used to. Her tests are tough- you have to answer the question w/ the format she wants. If you arrive @ the right answer but didn't work it in the way she was looking for then the answer is wrong. She is not as helpful as she could be. Our class tutor is the real MVP
statistics is hard. Professor will not make this easy for you. She moves fast through the lessons, she sticks to her syllabus, does not allow formula cards on her test. BUT if you go to her office hours, she will help you. if you ask a question in class, she will answer it. Definitely a university level math teacher
This class was pretty tough, but she is really nice & always excited to teach! There's always hw assigned every class day, but due on the day of the test. No quizzes, but warm up problems on index cards every class for points. 3 tests and a cumulative final. She lets you use an index card as a cheat sheet for the final! Graphing calc is your bfff!
She is understanding and helpful, answers all questions, lectures are simple and straightforward. If you attend class and do the homework you will do well. Overall a very good professor.
I went into this class not knowing anything about statistics and it was so stressful and difficult for me. She's good at explaining the material, and I went to the tests feeling prepared. But the tests were nothing like the review we did and I failed every test. She's a very tough grader. If you're bad at math I wouldn't recommend.
She is a really good professor and has an amazing tutor! Math is not a my best subject but I really was able to learn in this class. Everything is out of the workbook so don't plan on not buying the book. Tests are not that hard if you do the study guide. This comes along with a Aleks online class which is not hard. Take her class!
Perri is literally the nicest lady you will ever meet! Her lectures are great. She gives a three point quiz at the beginning of each lecture, it barely effects your grade. Her study guides are exactly what's on the test. She constantly told us that we needed the book, but her lectures were great and all the HW was on My Math Lab, so I never used it
Prof Gellman is the best math professor ive ever had in my entire life! Ive always struggled with math but she makes every concept so understandable and ive gotten B's on every test so far. Every class you do a little bit of lecture and then she splits you off into groups. Shes a real sweetheart and wants everyone to do well! recommend her 100%
Do not take her if you are not prepared to be to class on time and attend EVERY class. You must participate by a notecard of problems at the beginning of every class for participation points. You must pay the $100 and complete all of your My Math Lab homework and get a good grade. 4 Exams and a Final for this class. Heavy work, okay teacher.
I have never been good at math and I truly went into this class skeptical as could be. Like I hadn't taken a math in 5 years and by the end of it, I felt so good about stats. It is definitely a lot of work but you understand everything by the end of class. I got C's and D's in every math class I ever took and I walked out of class with an A+.
I was never good at math in high school and was very skeptical taking this course but this professor is awesome. She gives you all the tools you need to succeed in this course. She's very helpful and answers any questions you might have. Tests are average but if you understand the study guide they are easy A's. I would recommend this class.
I took this Statistics class after failing two algebra 50 classes before this. I had basically given up on math, but Professor Gellman changed my perspective of math completely. She makes her lectures fun by splitting us up into groups working together to teach each other the content. And she makes sure every student understands the lessons. TAKEIT
Teaching style is dull and in unhelpful. She stands in front of class and projects the book on the board and goes through "examples" for the majority of lecture. Her grading is HEAVILY based on exams ( your final does replace your lowest test score) so if you do bad on 2 exams you might not be able to pass the class. Advice: find a better prof.
YES, the class is hard. The material is heavy and you need to set aside time to study. Yet, Professor Gellman is always ready to answer any questions and also available during office hours. Get it together, get to class, do your homework and you will pass. (Final you can use notes. Allows graphing calculator!)
Best math professor I've ever taken. You won't ever have an exam question that wasn't covered in class or in the homework (she reviews homework questions before the exam). Teaches you how to solve problems by hand and then by calculator, so you understand the material. Final is semi-cumulative (old questions are multiple choice).
Her lectures HEAVILY rely on examples that either she makes up or are taken from the textbook which is a big downfall in her way of teaching because she rarely gives students a chance to try out what you had just learnt on your own; she likes to keep walking you through how to do everything. Also, many times she makes mistakes that she overlooks.
Probably one of my least favorite professors that I've had in college. Not helpful when it comes to having questions about the material and most days we sit in groups and do work out of the book, which is fine but when you have a question it seems like she doesn't want to help. Honestly if you have the chance to take a different professor do so.
Prof Gellman is a sweet lady. If you participate and noticeably care about your grade in the class, she will too. My advice is to pay attention and doNOT skip class because you WILL BE LOST. She does make mistakes sometimes, but it only keeps the students on their toes. Take good notes and redo all HW assignments before tests and you will get an A!
One of the best teachers I've ever had. She does rely heavily on group work because she likes to let you have more than just her to learn from. It makes you work together to work on harder problems. Homework every night, but not much and she always have study guides for the tests. Never understood math before this, but now I love it!
She is one of the best math teachers at Palomar. She makes you work for the grade you deserve but thats to ensure you learn the math ! 11/10 would recommend.
Very nice and truly wants her students to do well, make herself available before and after class, lots of homework, tests are not extremely hard, as long as you study and show up to class you should do well.
I took Trigonometry in the summer and I am so glad I did! The material was at times challenging but studying for hours paid off. Professor Gellman presented the material clearly and if you had a question she was glad to answer. She was very passionate about the wonders of math and loved teaching. Would surely take a math course from her again!
Took a summer math class with her. I was very busy outside school and it was hard for me to keep up but she was excellent at understanding the student's needs and offered help and advice to make sure I understood everything and passed. Could really tell she cares about her students.
She's very nice and is always helpful with your questions. However, unlike the review on this course on 10/26/2016, there's no study guides for the exams. The exams are mainly from the class notes (study the example problems/concepts from your notes--they're on the exams!). WebAssign assignments help too but again, mainly focus on the class notes.
PROS: caring, willing to answer all questions, allows test corrections and you can get 20% of your missed points back, your final grade will replace your lowest test grade (if the final grade> lowest test score), uses web assign for all homework, goes over homework in class, amazing professor CON: you have to pay for web-assign
Amazing math teacher who really cares about her students success ! Show up, do the work, study, put in those hours at the math lab, and you will pass ! I also took her for MATH120 and got a B! Highly recommend.
She is absolutely the best teacher I have ever had! She is patient and so expert in her field that she can explain math until you understand it. Highly recommended!!
Took MATH120 online. All instruction, homework, and testing was done online via Statlab but Prof. Gellman checked in regularly and was available to help if needed. If you work consistently and study for tests, you will do well. I was able to get an A even after bombing one of the tests. Statlab access is expensive ($100) but I learnt a lot.
She's super sweet and cares about you passing! Homework is online and it's due the following 2 classes. She doesn't have a study guide but the problems are like the examples in lecture and kind of the homework and she allows test corrections! Her lecture notes are super neat and she explains calc really well!
Great Nice Math Professor. I enrolled in Fall 2018 but forgot the rating. Students were required to show up for a first and only class meeting, where I found a stranger graciously helping the previous class professor; she was the online professor. I'm a Cal State math grad but had skipped Statistics and found her comforting in her email replies.
Mrs. Gellman is an excellent professor. She is clear, concise, and the class is well organized. I recommend always showing up to class, there is simply too much info that you won't want to miss. Besides being a caring instructor, she has an impeccable ability of helping you understand each step, and actually enjoying math! Taker her class.
She was kind and did her best to teach the class but students had assigned seats they were given at the beginning of every class. It was super unnecessary. She is super against phones being out even if it's just for using a calculator. If she sees your phone out it will count as an absence.
Perri is a great person in general. Although she is 100% against extra credit. If you flunk an exam she will just tell you to study more. The class has really simple math, but the way its presented is hard. If you ask to many questions she will get somewhat annoyed. Other than that great professor. Cares about each student individually.
DO NOT TAKE PROF. ALL CARES ABOUT EXAM. YOU WANT TO RETAKE SOMETHING? WELL to BAD, NEVER GONNA HAPPEN. NEED HELP UNDERSTANDING A QUESTION NEVER GONNA HAPPEN. PROF THINKs THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY OF LEARNING. PEOPLE LEARN IN THERE OWN WAYS. NOT EVERYONE IS A MATH GENIUS. DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR GPA, HAPPY TO LET IT PLUMMET. DO NOT TAKE.
Took her online class, before the pandemic. We used MyStatsLab the entire semester as our only source, which was pretty good at teaching topics, and the tests were fair. She also posted a lot of extra lecture material and was always accessible if we needed help, else, we were left to do things ourselves. Remember to keep up to date on assignments!
Gellman is a very kind & helpful professor, however, much of my learning was done through MyStatsLab (Note: Attendance is required). Some math, more analyzation & interpretation. MyStatsLab online work load: a ton of fairly easy & short interactive assignments/ homework (100-120), 1 quiz per each Chapter (13), 5 section tests, & a cumulative final
BEST math Professor! She is willing to help you if you don't understand, doesn't let you fall behind. Super sweet and polite. Her tests are easy and fair. As long as you attend lectures and do your HW, you are good. She gives HW every day for a 6 unit class, but nothing draining. Just pure greatness. I wish she taught statistics!
This class was easy but the entire thing was busy work. She uses a teaching website for the entire class so she doesn't even teach or make any of the exams or hw. She's an extremely lazy teacher but expects you do to able to spend many hours a week doing busy work assignments and is not flexible with anything.
Though the class is an easy A due to the subject material, I don't think Gellman is a good prof. There's too much busy work. It's more tedious than helpful. She expects you to do assignments over the weekends and breaks but isn't available to respond to emails during those times. She doesn't teach the class it's all through a website you purchase.
This was the first math class I've ever done well in because she really takes the time to make sure the class is understanding. Zoom and HW 4 days a week, but they are pretty easy going. She makes videos of every assignment so you can check your answers and gives you lots of extra credit opportunities. Highly recommend Professor Gellman!
She makes herself available, keeps track of your progress and will follow up with you if she notices yours struggling. Midway through the class I bombed an exam and struggled to get through the HW. Before I could send an email she reached out to offer help. Overall great class & instructor.
She barely does anything, instead making you use a bad online program. When she does do lectures, they won't even open most of the time, and are unhelpful when they do. I literally did not talk to her a single time throughout this class.
The course was completed through Mylab Statistics. It is hard to rate Professor Gellman personally because the students had little to no interaction with her. The homework load was unmanageable at times, with some single lessons taking hours to complete. The videos provided were sometimes helpful but you were really on your own with this class.
This course is very tedious, so be prepared to dedicate hours of your time completing the homework. She didn't teach the course, it was through a software program. I tried asking for help twice but never she responded (so I don't know if she even saw my message). You're basically on your own to teach the material if you don't understand
good professor but there is A LOT of homework. the tests and content itself was easy, however, just keeping up with the fast pace of the class was what i found hard. if you choose to take this class make sure you have a lot of free time. Also, this class can be done without interacting with her once, she teaches off a program that costs 80$.
Pretty straightforward class, do the homework each week, take the review test, and take the exam. I never attended a single lecture nor watched one, but I ended up with an A due to studying the review exams offered in the MyStatLab program.
Professor Gellman seems very caring and is excited to teach her lectures. The class was pretty much straightforward with watching lectures, doing HW, taking review exams, and taking exams. lectures are extremely necessary but can sometimes be of use. In this class, review exams are your best friend and can help you do well on the exam.
