I thought Dr. Carter was a wonderful instructor who made a honest effort to help his students and give them the right information to succeed.
i hated and dreaded going to his class
Dr. Carter is very knowledgable and sometimes gets carried away with giving too much information which leads to major confusion when tests roll around. Tests cover very large amounts of information so study, study, study. Many of us in the class had a very difficult time understanding his way of explaining the information. Rely alot on the book.
He's alright not the best instructor I know. He's approachable but he doesn't teach the material. Ask if you have questions but doesn't answer them effectively. Beats around the bush alot then wants to teach you something the last 20 minutes of class infringing on lab time and other instructors time. IF HE WORKS ON IT HE COULD BE A GOOD INSTRUCTOR.
Very unrealistic and unprofessional
Hands down the best teacher I have ever had. It is Biology so yes you have to study. Read the book and do his study guides. He is so funny and always willing to help. I took him for 210 and 211.
The worst teacher I've had. Always late for class. Doesn't really teach much. When he does, he teaches way above the class level of and talks a lot about chemistry stuff. Confuses everyone. Almost impossible to study for this tests. Words them where you don't understand the questions.
Dr, Carter was about 30 minutes late to class every day and then usually wanted to teach 10 minutes over. He didn't teach very much and his tests were very difficult. He would bring you out in class if you asked a question which made him very unapproachable. We always got tests back late. I will never take another course with him.
The worst teacher I've ever had. Always late for class. Doesn't give the tests back on time. Doesn't teach the material to where you can understand. This was a basic class and it seemed as though he was teaching microbiology or chemistry.
If you are easily intemidated you better stay away. If you want to learn study and read and read and read. Pull Kelleher notes too. Make sure you ask questions and are willing to talk to Dr. Carter. He really is pretty nice when you get to know him. Expect to study and pay attention in his class! He is real smart and sometimes over the top, but nic
Dr. Carter is very helpful. If you don't understand something just ask. He is always willing to explain in a different way to help you. Make micro more interesting than most! This is a hard class no matter what instructer you have but his notes are good.
Dr. Carter is a very good teacher, VERY smart. He breaks things down so that you are able to understand them better. Yes, he was late to class sometimes, but was also very understanding if you were late. I feel like he cared about the class and if we understood the material. Was always willing to help if you needed it. Not bad to look at either! ;)
Very god teacher! Very helpful! Would definitely want to be in another one of his classes!
Dr. Carter is very knowledgeable, and his teaching style is extremely laid back. If you follow his very extensive study guides you will do well in his class.
Dr. Carter is hysterical. He wears Hawaiian shirts all summer long and has the personality to match. Very knowledgable but long winded. He is pretty good at handling some of the not so bright students in the class. He's very helpful and easy to talk to. He's a dad of many and it really shows. Take him, and take his website seriously. It helps!
Love em
Horrible teacher. Does not explain things where you can understand, just confuses you even more. Doesn't seem prepared for lectures, does not prepare you for tests. Waste of time attending his class.
he is a really good teacher. he is difficult if you don't come to class, don't pay attention, and/or don't take notes or ask questions. if you treat his website like the bible and do the studyguides before every test, you will do fine. i had him for 210 and 211 and micro starting tomorrow. he has a different teaching style than most, but i like it.
I love Dr. Carter! I had him twice and believe me, he wants his students to pass. He even holds extra study sessions and eagerly answers questions. Plus he is funny and keeps you interested. He needs to train the MTC nursing teachers how to teach!
Very smart, actually wants his students to understand the material. Also funny and a hottie to be an older guy.
Terrible teacher! Is VERY unorganized, and waits until the LAST minute to give a test. He seems very unsure of his teaching and goes off on a tangent VERY easily! If you want a decent biology teacher AVOID him!
Dr. Carter is not a professional; he was ALWAYS at least 15 min late to class and usually 30-40 min late. Didn't make sense and got sidetracked easily; learned more just reading the book. Don't take him if you plan on learning.
DONT take this professor!!! He always goes off on to other subjects and gets side tracked. He never has set dates for his exams. One chapter could take him two weeks to go over because he gets side tracked. The study guide wont help much so expect to ACTUALLY READ and UNDERSTAND your textbook. All the 211 teachers are horrible...
Dr. Carter is very fair, in my opinion. His tests were challenging, but if you read the book and do the study guides, you will be just fine. He does care about his students and wants you to succeed. Overall, I recommend him. He does get behind, but he works you to make the situation fair. Get to know him and ask questions, and you will be just fine
I think Dr. Carter is extremely helpful, and keeps the classroom atmosphere light. Enough pressure trying to pass, he made me want to come to class!!
Dr. Carter is awesome! He does all he can to help his students succeed...but he is very fair. He does get behind in lecture sometimes, but don't worry...he evens it all out and when he tells you not to stress about it...he means it! He's an awesome teacher!!
He's very helpful, but also very unorganized. His tests are challenging, so don't take this class if you can't or don't want to study. Lab is super boring, but essential to passing the class. Lecture tends to be on the boring side as well, but make sure you print out his "study guides" and you should do fine. He's good looking too.
I love Dr. Carter! He is very helpful - v. knowledgeable about the subject & cares about students. He is def unorganized at times, but in the end he will do all he can to help you pass the class. ppl complain about the study guides, but they are there to help you understand concepts, so invaluable for the tests!
The lateness to class and lab was annoying, but he's very nice and funny and offers extra credit on the tests. Definitely do the study guides.
Other than being late 90% of the time to lectures, Carter was an overall decent teacher. Was a little scattered around in his lectures which caused the class to be way behind. READ the textbook and it will help you entirely, that's how I got an A. Never went to SI sessions or anything. Do your study guides also, they help out alot. Good luck!
Dr. Carter's habitual lateness to class was annoying. Always 10-40 minutes late per class. His lectures are scattered and hard to understand. The book helped me more than his lectures ever did. His phone constantly went off almost every lecture & never responds to emails. He has a good personality but serious lacks professionalism as an instructor.
LOVE HIM!!!!! absolutely wonderful professor and has a great sense of humor. if he writes anything on the board you better write it down!! it will for sure be on the exam. i didnt even need the book. just study his online objectives and notes and do his practice tests. make sure you go to the final exam review. oh and he really is ALWAYS late.
Good class to take if you're looking for an easy A, I wouldn't recommend it if u actually want to learn anything though. His lectures and notes are difficult to follow, but he does make his lecture notes available online. Perhaps that's y he shows up to class 30 mins late everyday. Had 4 take home tests b/c we didn't get thru material in time.
I have never disliked a teacher more! He was so late to class- at least 20-30 minutes late. Which is not fun when you have a night class because then you are there all night in lab. He was not helpful, never really made sense, and his lectures were all over the place and not very helpful. I made a good grade in the class, but hated every min of it!
If you pay attention in class and do the study guides and study the study guide then you should get an A in the class. YES he is LATE to class between 15-40 minutes late. He was on time to class 2 or 3 times in the semester. He does NOT check his emails. Take his class in the morning he is tired at then end of the day.
OKay... for the people who take Dr. Carter.. He is always late, which can be frustrating so just show up 15-30 min after your normal class time. Study guides are useless because you waist your time doing them and have little study time, focus on his practice test to see the information he is wanting you to know. Overall he is a decent teacher.
I would have to say he is okay. Not awesome, not horrible- but okay. He is said to be a heck of a lot better than the other micro professors, Lema & Lopez. But he is late like every single class-except for test day in lecture. He often mumbles during his lectures (irritating). On the other hand he has a GREAT website and materials that help a lot!
Overall he's pretty good. He definitely knows his stuff. I agree with the mumbling in class, it's a little irritating but his website def helps! His notes are spot on, and the practice tests give you a great idea of what his actual tests are going to be like. Recommend this professor before the others for lecture.
He is a great professor who cares if you do. He is more than willing to give extra help to anyone who ask. I enjoyed both of his classes, and actually started to like biology. He is late from time to time which was perfect for me because I was too. He has great stdy guides so you know what is most important.
Anyone who says they don't like Dr. Carter is an idiot. He is a freakin genious and has the best dry humor ever (which some dense ppl don't get). Doesn't care about attendance and i didn't use the textbook, just his lecture notes and practice tests so don't waste your money. DO what he tells you to do and you will get an A.
Dr. Carter is the best bio teacher on campus. well, at least compared to the other two I have had for bio. He is clear in lecture, gives you plenty of resources to use, tests match the lectures and resources. I tell people to get him for bio 225 all the time. We are behind on testing but still okay to get it done.
Dr.Carter is the best Bio teacher at Tech, and I tried quite a few of em including Lema.He KNOWS HIS STUFF.He's willing to help if u show that u care. Hint do everything he says, read lecture before u go to class, do study guides, download his material from d2l..it's micro but with him u can actually enjoy it. Late but u can read ur lab while u wait
This guy is great. He is extremely thorough with material. provides exceptional study guides and material. If you have to take 210 and 211 take this guy. Compared with my last teacher he's a improvement. Don't sit and think its an easy A though. You'll have to earn your grade but with the assistance he provides it's practically given
He wasn't my favorite professor. I really wanted to learn a lot from him, but he is less medically in tune, and more microbiology-based. Knows his stuff, but I really didn't learn much from him, more the text. Tests were fair, except he ran out of time so we took 2/4 tests the week of the final exam. I wasn't impressed.
bring hw or something to do while you wait for him everyday before lecture and then again before lab. wastes time talking about football, re writing directions from lab book. we took 1 test throughout the whole semester and cramped everything else during finals. WORST thing to do to a student!
He gets off track so freaking easily, it's very frustrating!!! His tests are way more difficult and he has you do them in the testing center. He gets very behind and then will slam you in the last month and a half left. I wouldn't recommend taking him! His notes are all over the place! What a miserable semester in this class!!
He was at least 30 minutes to late to class. Most of the lecture was him drawing on the chalkboard and talking about his personal matters. He gets sidetracked.
Bring something to keep you busy while you wait for him to get to class, normally 30-40 minutes late. He stayed on the first unit for two months then he opened up all the test. He didn't cover the last unit in the book. His lectures are confusing. He likes to draw on the board. Test are very difficult. I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy.
He gives you all the materials you need to make an A. He gives you a study guide for each test that are really similar to the actual test. You just need to put the effort in and actually do them. They are time consuming, but they are very helpful. Each study guide is about 5 pages long, but they contain all the info you need for the test.
Awesome professor! No one gives this guy enough credit for the job he has. Loved his class. Loved his hidden humor and sarcasm towards certain students that annoy him. All around great guy, great professor. Do the work and you'll do fine. Practice exams are key. Objectives make you learn the material. DO THEM. Read his MTC biography. Total gem!!
Carter is funny and everything, but he's a horrible teacher. All he does is draw on the chalkboard and by the time u finish drawing, you have no idea what you just drew or what he's talking about. The study guides don't really help, only the practice test helps at all.
He teaches like you are pre-med students. He rambles and goes on on and make you more confuse. I dropped before I mess up my GPA.
Take him at your own risk. If you NEED this class you may want to search for another professor. Very confusing, test are very tough because he makes up the questions from his head and not the book. Barely used that expensive text book and don't waste your money on the lab book. long study guides that you have to find answers to and study.
He was an ok Professor. Be prepared to study study study. If you take him for lab you are on your own.
Dr. Perry Carter is simply is an amazing teacher. He isn't going to give you the grade on a silver platter but if you study like he tells you and know his study guides you will have no problem. He is an incredible smart and helpful professor. I loved him and would recommend him to anyone!
He is a great guy and really funny, but he tends to get far behind quickly. Had to take tests 3, 4 and the final in one week because we hadn't finished all the material...
Dr. Carter knows his stuff! He is really great at teaching and being interpersonal with his students. If you pay attention and study like he tells you too you will do amazing in this class. If you dont you will fail. You have to work for your grade but that doesnt make him a bad teacher. Actually that makes him a really good one! Take him an learn
I felt as though he was an excellent lecturer but lacked in the labs. He does set you up very well for the tests but you have to put the work in. If you aren't willing to work and pay attention you will not do well in this class! Be sure you read his bio online, It's a hilarious gem!
You have to do the study guides to pass! He pulls a lot of questions from his study guide for his tests. Use the Mastering A&P website that comes with your book it's extremely helpful. There are videos and audio clips on hard concepts.
Funny/laid back but got WAY behind. Test 3, 4, & Final ALL during finals week. Test 1 & 4 were easy but 2 and esp. 3 did take lots of work to feel prepared. Great teaching style. Don't NEED textbook, even though he says otherwise. He provides everything. His practice Q's, SG's, & pathogen sheets are absolutely essential to A's or even B/C's really
If you read/skim the chapters before his lectures you will have it in the bag. He doesn't spoon feed it to you, but he does try to make the material easier to understand with drawings and his own notes. Go through the book then his notes. He has study guides and practice exams for each test they are long but they help. He's a great professor!
It wouldn't be as bad if we didn't spend half of the semester on the first unit and have to take the last 3 tests within a week of finals. It snowballs hard.
worst teacher ever. bad time management and he will not answer questions he always has a sarcastic answer and beats around the bush. he says he only pulls from the study guides which is a lie and they have over 300 questions per study guide. i do not recommend him. had to take 3 test during finals week.
He set us up for complete failure. In our last week he crammed in 3 out of 5 tests we had this semester. His lectures are way over your head and everyone just kept failing. A lot of people told me if he knows you, you participate and show your working hard at the end of the semester he would be forgiving if you were off by 1 or 2 points. NOT TRUE
He told us on day one of class that if we did his study guides and practice tests we would do fine. This was a complete LIE! I worked my butt off in an effort to pass this class. The only test that came remotely close to the study materiel was test 4 (which was crammed into finals week along with test 3 and the final.) Such a waste of time.
Great professor. He converts the publisher-provided PP's to a much easier-to-use format, from which most test Q's come from. Great practice tests similar to exams Best of all: his final exam SG. Literally everything you'd need for an A on every exam. That ONE document. So much info. Barely anyone knew it was available on d2l THE ENTIRE SEMESTER...
Dr. Carter is hilarious if you can take a joke. His class is designed for you to learn and pass. He can be lenient on tardies and absences, but still expects you to attend class. Excellent Teacher! PLM
Lectures were good and informative, but the study guides are where he really shines. The lectures are really more to clarify the study guides (so you can skip the occasional class). Tests are in-depth, so be prepared to study, but what's on the guide is what's on the test. Overall, he's one of the better professors I've had. I'd take him again.
Dr. Carter is a great professor- he really knows the material, and he clearly warns how much studying is needed. He provides study guides that cover everything on the tests- it's just up to you to do the work. I spent HOURS studying, but there were no tricks- put in the effort and you'll do well. He's also hilarious and treats students like adults.
BIO A+P is a tough course in itself, a large amount of info crammed into your head. Carter is straight forward about how much work is going to be needed to pass the course. He provides all the material you need to pass online, chapter notes, study guides, and practice exams. He has a dry, sarcastic kinda humor. Don't take it too seriously.
If you don't have good study habits, don't take his class. He gives you all the tools you need to get a good grade but A&P is by no means easy. He does tend to be long winded but will answer any questions asked. Read the book, go to class, pay attention, do the study guides, study at home, and you will pass. Just don't be a bad student. Simple.
I learned A LOT. Be honest with yourself before you take this class w/ Carter- if you aren't going to put in serious work/time, don't bother. He gives you study guides that will prepare you, but they take time/effort. Tests are open all semester, so if you don't stay on track on your own, you end up with LOTS to do at the end.
He's generally good professor. He is probably the best in for Anatomy because he wants his students to pass, I promise he really does. Many people will say it's impossible, it requires a lot of effort but definitely not impossible. I took him for 210 and 211. Usually he'll put SOME sample exam questions on his tests. You need to read the book.
I am taking his class now and he is awful. He was some type of researcher, has a PhD and has even said the things we are learning are elementary. He is all over the place during lecture and honestly makes no sense to me. I do not recommend him for anyone. I haven't taken my first test yet and I study and read over every thing everyday. LORD HELP
He's all over the place. When you ask him a question he ask like he don't want to answer. He DOESN'T try to help you but you constantly write on the board in his class. Yes he give you study guides but TRUST me you are wasting your time. They don't line up .He is not a good biology 211 professor. AVOID his class!!!!!!!!
Dr. Perry knows what he's teaching however I would not recommend his class due to the amount of times he goes off subject, causing the class to be far behind on tests. His study guides are basically the test so make sure to fill them out, and do the practice tests!
He is the worst professor by far that I have taken. He is all over the place. You do the study guides and study practice tests and the actual tests do not match up. We had to take 3 test within a day or two of each other. The only test that matched up was the 4th because he knew he was wrong. Never take him, he is awful! I fought for my B!
His lectures will put you to sleep but pay attention because anything he says can be on the lecture exam. He procrastinates so next thing you know it's half way through the semester and you're only on exam 1 of 5.. get ready to cram for the last 2 exams and the final in 2 weeks. He does give you GREAT study guides and practice exams so USE THEM!!
I was scared to take his class because of all the reviews. It is a hard class by itself, I hate seeing people here, who expect so much from professor without putting in any effort. You HAVE to study in this class no matter what professor you have! Learn, read the material, and it'll be paid off. It is not an art class. Great person, useful class
The first two exams are the most difficult. The 3rd, 4th, optional lab final, and lecture final were all crammed into the last two weeks of class. Read the book, use the sample quizzes he gives (although they are not exactly like on the actual exams.) Okay professor, but rambles a lot & doesn't make things easy to understand.
He's a solid teacher. You have to put in work and prepare, but he wants his students to pass. He does spend a lot of time on the first test, and the last test is crammed in but it's also the easiest. The fourth test is basically giving you points. I would take him again.
Carter was one of the worst professors I have ever had. He has absolutely no time management skills, we had the last 3 (out of 5) tests in 2 weeks. He is horrible at staying on track when it comes to lecturing. The only reason I made a B in his class was because I taught myself everything I knew. Do yourself and favor and do not take his class.
Dr. Carter really doesn't get enough credit. Yes he has poor time management skills but if you read the book like he stresses it will make lectures go by faster for him. He is very knowledgeable and has a good sense of humor. He also does has much as he can to help your grade (ie : study guides, replacing lowest test score). Would take him again
He was a good professor, he's funny and easy to talk to. He does get sarcastic with people who annoy him. Objectives and practice questions are lifesavers. As the reviews here state, he took a long time on the first two units which caused us to take 4 exams (lab and lecture) within 2 weeks. Other than that, he was great.
I have honestly never studied so hard for a test just to take it & feel like I did not study at all. Your whole grade is based off of the 4 test & final exam, no extra credit, no homework.
He is a really intelligent man with a great sense of humor. But, he is quite confusing during lecture and does not break down major concepts down into simple terms. Grade based off 4 test and the final. He is not very good at managing time but makes up for it with a pretty easy test 4 and straight forward final. Not my favorite teacher but decent.
I can't believe the negative reviews Dr. Carter is getting here. I'm not saying that this class is easy (It's upper level science! Lets be real!) but if you put in a decent amount of preparation for the tests, its nearly impossible to fail. Go to class, listen to his tips for studying for each test, and memorize the final exam study guide.
Dr. Carter is very knowledgeable, but his lectures are not extremely helpful. He goes on long tangents that are unrelated to the tests. This is mostly self-taught. He does provide great study guides and practice exams to help. He has very poor time management, but this means the last test was a take home that was very easy. Work hard.
Dr. Carter is a great teacher. BIO 211 is a tough Course and you have to study really hard for it but he gives you enough chances to make good grade. Do his study guide and sample exams, for each test prepare relevant questions from final's study guide. Score is based of 4 tests and final but he takes best 4 out the 5. If you don't do good, its on u
He doesn't have good time management skills. We got so behind we had to take Test 3 during our exam time & take the final exam at different campus testing centers. Overall that was a very stressful semester with him, but honestly, he's much better than Lema. As long as you complete the study guides you should do well, he also provides extra credit
I really enjoyed his Biology class. It's obviously hard because it's Microbiology but he definitely does not get enough credit. He genuinely cares about his students and helps as much as he can for you to pass. I would suggest staying on his good side but as long as you try and study, you will do fine.
P Carter needs more credit. This is not a easy class if you don't read the text or try to answer his study guide questions you are just failing yourself. Its not all on the professor to teach you this material you need to READ. P Carter cares about his students and knows what he's talking about. Just read the text and pay attention!!!!!!!!!!
Great teacher. He just wants you to understand the material overall. If you read the book and his chapter outlines and understand the content you will make an A in this class.
His time management skills were so poor I had to drop the class. I made B in Bio 210 online with another professor and just couldn't keep up with this professor. He does offer extra credit and is extremly rude in class if you ask a question. Overall I would stay away and try another professor
Upper level biology is hard, we all know that. If you go into his classes expecting to be spoon fed then you need a different professor. He gives you all the materials you need to be successful, you just have to put in the work (shocking, I know). Study hard and use the materials he gives you, youll be fine. Hes very knowledgeable and nice.
Professor Carter was so passionate about the subject which made the class extremely enjoyable. Be prepared to put in the work though. Review chapter outlines and objectives, these resources will definitely help you get through the class. Dont let these reviews discourage you, Prof. Carter is not that bad. Do the work/put in the time you pass!
Gives study guides yes but they are very time consuming. He does not follow his own powerpoints which are in web form. Writes a lot on the chalk board and makes it hard to follow. There are not any extra grades besides test and lab quizzes. You get 5 test, he replaces lowest with final, and gives you test 4 basically. Do good in lab.
1st he is arrogant. 2nd he was so behind in lectures that we took a lab final, a test, another test, and the lecture final all within 2 weeks (4 days b2b). I don't know how that is even academically legal. This class came easy to me bc I graduated with a biology degree, others that didn't have that background struggled and it was 100% his fault.
Dr. Carter is tough. He doesn't make the difficult material easy to understand. I didn't get much out of his lectures, though I could tell he really knew his stuff. His study guides are very in-depth, and they take a very long time to complete. If you do the study guides very thoroughly and you understand it, you'll pass. Test questions are tricky.
AWFUL! Its really hard to comprehend anything that he is saying because he speaks to you like you should already know what hes supposed to be lecturing you on. Hes extremely sarcastic and sucks and breaking down the material so you that you can gain a better understanding. Dont take him unless you have a degree in biology already.
Dr. Carter is extremely knowledgeable! Annotate your textbook, use every tool available to you, and use the online courses that come with the book! He wants participation in class, so read ahead and make sure you understand what's going on! He has study guides. They're not there just for show - USE THEM!!
First 2 exams atrocious. Lowest exam grade replaced with final if final higher. Final lab practical is the pits! Lecture exam 4 easy A+. Know for the next lecture/lab what's being taught. He likes everyone to be prepared and have a little knowledge of what he's teaching on. Bonus pts for discussing in detail something not on exam discussed in class
Dr. Carter is very sarcastic. He will not spoon-feed you the material. Don't bother buying the book, he will provide you with lecture notes. The subject is hard itself, and there is a lot of material to cover. Take advantage of the practice test, some are actually on the test. Score well on the lecture exam because lab is hard.
Dr. Carter was sarcastic. If you can't take sarcasm, avoid this class. I found him very approachable out of class. Lecture exams 3, 4, and final along with final lab practical all in about 2 weeks. Lecture #4 was super simple. He will not spoon feed the info to you, you must put in the effort. I worked for my grade, but I would take him again.
He is VERY knowledgable and gives the info you need in his outlines. No need to buy the book. He teaches micro to you like you have a background in it. It's a tough class and you will need to work for it, but that is to be expected. If he would "dumb it down" a little like it's a first-level micro class (as it is), it would be better for sure.
Dr. Carter is great, caring, & considerate BUT he was the WORST teacher I have ever had. Carter seems to be knowledgeable but he rambles TOO MUCH, talks about unnecessary material too long & lacks effective teaching skills. He means well but teaching with organization and structure is lacking. Makes material harder than what it is, honestly
Dr. Carter is very knowledgeable. He makes you work hard for the grade. He does not give extra credit. He scheduled our last 5 exams 3 weeks to the end of the semester. So exhausting and draining. Don't bother buying the text or mastering, he gives you all the material you need. Avoid taking this course in summer. It is a lot of content!!!
I have heard most teachers will make this subject way harder than it has to be. Carter, although going around your question in the process, will eventually answer it and make you feel like you shouldve understood to begin with. He does ramble needlessly but sometimes its entertaining. You must go to LAB, but can pass by watching online LECTURE.
Dr. Carter is an EXTREMELY smart guy, but he does lack a little bit of teaching skills. If you ask him a question we will ramble/ go into way more depth than you need to know, but he will answer. This class isnt bad if you put time into it and study a bit each day. He gives crystal clear direction on what you need to know/what youll be tested on.
He is very committed to his students, will work with anyone who is also willing to put in the work. He does ramble so be prepared to steer him back on track, but otherwise don't be afraid to ask question. Lab was difficult b/c I wasn't always sure what I was being tested on; but do the practice quizzes for lecture, b/c you'll see them again on test
This is a class where you basically have to teach yourself! Dr. Carter is cool, but he will get off topic really fast! Best suggestion is to do the objective questions beforehand and come prepared to ask question!!!!!!!!
9/10-personality. 2/10-teaching. Doesn't teach anything during lecture unless you ask him specific questions. Unfortunately asking him questions is useless because he answers like you're a colleague and doesn't make sense anyway. He seems to love Microbiology but hates teaching it and would rather be out in the field doing something else.
Dr Carter will not teach the material. You ARE expected to teach yourself each chapter and come prepared with questions. His lectures are all over the place and have little to do with what you actually need to know. Get the book and teach yourself the material if you want to pass. If you do ask a question, he may not answer directly. Nice guy tho.
A challenging class, but Dr. Carter is knowledgeable and willing to help if you put in the effort. The lectures can be dry, but using unstuck AI alongside the provided materials helped me stay on top of the content.
Doctor Carter is hilarious, kind, and clearly knowledgeable. He works with you if anything comes up, and he presents the material well. He gives plenty of resources to use outside of class, and if you want to do well, come to lab prepared.
Listen, maybe Carter didn't space out the tests the best, but he's hands down one of the coolest professors I've had at mids tech. And his sneaker game is SOLID. Check out his feet in class you won't be disappointed. He's a caring dude who doesn't take life too seriously. UNLESS you don't come prepared to lab or discard your material properly.
Was the class challenging? Yes, But Dr Carter is a greater professor. He is willing to explain anything you have questions about. Be sure to stay confident and he will help you with that also. He is very encouraging. Great guy who just loves teaching all things micro even when the testing schedule became overwhelming. Passing his class is possible!
I meant GREAT professor!! also sneaker collection is pretty fly!!! Again his class is tough but it is possible to pass with a good grade. Put in the work and you'll be fine. I can now say this because my classmates and i made it to the other side lol. Thank you Dr. Carter
Micro is a hard class regardless of your prof, but Carter truly cares about students and wants you to succeed. Study the material, pay attention in class/lab and you will do well. Carter is funny, posts extra content on D2L to help you, and gives extra credit questions on the last and final exam. Fourth exam is an easy grade boost.
Literally the worst lectures I've ever heard. No one could follow him at all. I learned more at home watching youtube videos. You can pass the class but you pretty much have to teach yourself everything.
