He is very willing to help you out. Gives you partial credit for all the homework and tests if you at least try. Very intelligent and is great for first time physics students. You do have to try- there are take home tests so it's not a blow off, but it's not bad considering its physics!
The best teacher I ever had! Very organized, interesting and willing to help. You will have the best time in this class...just show up and be prepared for quite hard questions on the tests.

Dr.Anderson's class is very interesting. He knows a lot and explains very clearly and practically. He gives partial credit for trying. He's not tough but he's not that easy. If you work hard, this will be your best class ever.
Not very helpful. Liked to show off how smart he was rather than sharing his knowledge. He also had a tendency to turn a simple concept into something confusing. Had to tune him out at times to pass the class.
He has a different way of teaching. I liked the way he taught my class, he taught us the root instead of teaching us a way to memorize mathematical concepts. It is sometimes very difficult to understand him because he is so smart and he has a hard time bringing the information down from graduate level information.
Only Math class I didnt understand one bit.
Mr anderson is not a good teacherat all he likes to show off and make a simple thing complicated and confusing. I would never advise a student to enroll in one of his classes.
Mr. Anderson is a nice man and is very smart. Math is a difficult subject for me, and I needed it to be more simplified than what he made it. All I could understand from his lectures was 'X' !! Dont take him if you struggle with math.
This professor Rocks. Highly Organized. Very helpful, polite both in class and office hours. he encourages class participation. one of the best prof for physics out there. i enjoyed it.
This teacher is so rude and a real show off. He is by no means approachable when you try to address a concern and even though he gives you a syllabus in his class there is no need for one because he doesn't go by it. He makes up his own rules as he goes.
Yay P-funk! You can tell this guy loves to be a physics professor... ask him to show you some things with liquid Nitrogen. Also, get used to constant throat-clearing noises...

He was very understand and very nice. His class was easy. I had problems with my group for the group projects and he understood that and helped me. Nice teacher. Only negative thing I have is that he makes everything really hard to understand and I didn't feel like I was learning astronomy.
Mr. Anderson is awesome! This class is lots and lots of work! Its only hard when you don't try! You have three take home quizzes which are extremely hard!!!! He is a very fair grader and really nice. This class tests your ability to be independent and to learn. Have Fun!
Very smart man. I absolutely loved this class. He is one of the best professors out there. Was always very helpful and knowledgable. I would reccomend him to all!
terrible teacher do not take he makes students grade each other for the project if your group doesnt like you they will rate you down and you will not pass the class horrible teacher i wish he would be fired
Mr. Anderson really knew what he was talking about and ran the class smoothly. Lots of powerpoints and the projects take a lot of work. Reading the book is helpful for quizzes. Stay awake and put forth effort. Also contribute to class discussions.
Mr. Anderson was a truly passionate teacher. His main goal is for you to LEARN not stress out. He is highly intelligent and bursting at the seams to share it albeit over students head occasionally. Very accessible, organized and prompt with grading and he has a great attitude.
He teaches at a HARVARD level and not OCC level. The class looks around during lecture wondering if everyone else is "lost-in-space." This class will make or break a lot of students career goals and I think he needs to tone it down a bit. Our lab experiment involves shooting off a rocket and you have to devise a formula to predict hite. Good luck
He is helpful and works with students to succeed. He explains things clearly and is also clear on what he expects from students. A very good class. I recommend a strong math background.
Tough class. An A is doable, but it is exteremely hard. He is very generous about partial credit but the book is useless. If you are not willing to put in a couple of hours per week in homework your grade will suffer. Tough subject.
This teacher is beyong genius. I have had himj before and enjoy having him as a professor.
Prof. Anderson, on the first day of class he encourages defeat. This alone should send out red flags. Impossible
He makes everything out to be more complicated than necessary. He assigns a lab paper without a rubric and then is extremely critical. In addition to that his comments were rude!
Not a very good professor at all. The lab projects are given with no information on how to do it or what he wants. This class is very difficult, his lectures don't have much relevance to the homework or the tests/quizzes and the book is useless.
This guy does not teach for the students to learn. He teaches to make himself feel smart. I could do a better job writing his resume than to do physics after his class. I could learn from a tutor how to do something in three minutes when it takes him 45 minutes to explain it in class - and the tutor does better. I would NOT take this guy ever again
I had him for Astronomy. It was really easy. The only assignments for the whole semester are 3 easy projects, lab attendance, the final & 5 quizzes..The quizzes are easy he gives you 3 possible questions but only 1 is on the quiz..You get 15 minutes to write everything you know down & then 5 minutes to discuss it with the people around you.
I had Mr. Anderson for Physics and he was an excellent teacher for me. That was one class that I did not particularly care for but after completing the class I enjoyed it, got a good grade and liked it. What more could you ask for!! Thank you Mr. Anderson!!!
Great teacher, don't expect his classes to be a walk in the park. You will learn a lot, probably won't get the grade you want, but definitely the moneys worth.
Had him for astronomy. He's a great teacher but expect to da decent grade. A LOT of work to get . There are quizzes every other week, labs, group projects, and a journal to do all at the same time.
You will need your book considering his lectures hold no relevance to the quiz questions. He encourages you to speak up in class, however even if your answer is correct he will still talk in lengths and complicate what you just said in order to feel smart. It could be a simple class, yet he makes it far more complicated than it needs to be.
I had Anderson for concepts in physics. I liked this class a lot. We did 3 group presentations through the semester, which a lot of other people thought was pointless, but I learned a lot. His lectures are very helpful. He is there a lot if you need help or clarity outside of class. I like his teaching method.
Extremely ridiculous grader. This class was a lot harder than it should have been. Grades like a university when this is only a community college, I wouldn't recommend this professor.
He was a great teacher. He is a very well rounded individual. Probably one of the smartest men I've ever met. (Next to Professor Stoddard who definitely wins that category!) I enjoyed his class very much. He's cool. Lets you listen to great music while in lab. I really liked him.
If you really want to learn Physics, then take his class. I did not like Physics at all. But, he made me to like Physics. Really enjoyed each and every moment in his class. But, this class need pretty much work. Those who don't like to work, don't take his class.
You won't fail if you keep on your toes about doing the work. He gives you a list of possible quiz questions to study, make sure you study all of them! The star chart is not difficult if you start it early. He's willing to help you, and the labs are easy, too.
Ridiculous grader. Didn't use a book so it was impossible to figure out what he wanted from us. His power points were a waste of time. I wouldn't recommend this teacher.
What a brilliant man. He explained the concepts of physics to us in a way that we could really wrap our heads around it. And he encouraged feedback - no batter how dumb we sounded. He truly wanted us to stretch our brains. Granted,I took an entry level conceptual course -but it was interesting and he was fair. It was my favorite class last semester
Great Professor - Fair grader - very intelligent - encouraged us to stretch our brains. I want to take him for additional classes - TEach CHEM prof Anderson!!!
Five-question exams with arbitrary grading (in lab esp) makes this class more difficult than physics. I studied 15 hours a day and problems on exam were nothing I'd seen before--made them extra-credit-like. Physics isn't easy, but religion could be made ridiculous hard with bad professor. Bragged about failing university students. Take elsewhere!
Nice guy, but a terrible teacher. He doesn't fully explain some things and goes off on random engineering/physics related tangents. Since I had no interest in the subject I found this to be extremely boring. His lectures were way too long. Could've said the same stuff in half the time.
Excellent professor that makes himself very available to those willing to work. It's a hard subject, but he's passionate about it. He's fair and is willing to help those willing to seek it, but if you're looking for an easy way out, or an easy grade, do not take his class. Easy grade handout seekers will be disappointed and frustrated.
His tests are impossible. Nothing like the homework or "mock exams". He gave us a test and then told us he usually gives one of the questions to his higher engineering class. Why would he test us on it then?! Did not curve because 1 person always did really well. Test avg's were usually around a C-/D+ and he thought that was good.
Professor Anderson is a great teacher. Don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. Sure his tests our hard, but its physics! Just put in an honest effort for 15 weeks and you will be fine. Also don't hesitate to use office hours or to ask Roman for help.
physics is not an easy subject but as far as teachers go he is phenomenal he has passion for science his grading is difficult for some in that he expects you to understand the material more so than get the right answer the formulas are given for the test you just have to know how to use them if you cant do well in his class science is not for you
If you want to learn at an appropriate pace, from a teacher who actually cares about the subject, take this. THIS IS HOW TEACHERS ARE SUPPOSE TO TEACH. Good job Mr. Anderson!
The perfect example of an excellent instructor who deeply cares about the subject. Highly knowledgeable.
His lectures are very convoluted. He always says "Does that make sense?", but then jumps to another topic right away. It's nearly impossible to get an A in his class. He grades very hard on grammar on his tests and quizzes. Avoid this professor at all costs!
Prof Anderson starts out in the beginning of the semester by telling you that the most important thing is to have fun with physics. You can tell he has fun with the subject, and if you allow yourself to, you can too. His tests challenge you, but I personally appreciate professors that make me think. I highly recommend him.
A smart guy who teaches poorly! He always says that other teachers teach to poorly but his way is so smart that i and my class mates can't really fallow him. IT'S NOT OUR FAULT THAT WE WERE TOUT IN A DIFFERENT WAY TILL HIM! If he would care about his students he would make his lectures more easy to fallow for the majority of the class! STAY AWAY!
Great enthusiastic teacher. He has hard test. He makes you really think about what you are learning and expects that you put the time into the course otherwise you will not do well. Generous with partial credit. Labs are very interesting
My second time having professor Anderson. Good teacher but he expects you to have a solid foundation in mathematics and its terms. A lot of kids are having trouble in the class due to him presuming you have taken early physics courses (which it is a sophomore level course). Lab grading is very hard. I would recommend him
I had his conceptual physics class. It is sometimes hard to follow but the quizzes are easy and he gives you every quiz list at the beginning of the year! Including the final. he is very strict on those as well as the group projects, which make up almost all of your grade. He is very fair to those who try in his class.
I had him for Astronomy and found the class to be extremely taxing. If you already have a good knowledge of chemistry and physics, the class may be easier, but if you have no knowledge of the subject, you will be pretty lost. There are three group projects which have a lot of requirements and are hard to accomplish if you have other classes/a job.
Great instructor! Class is not easy so you expect to do work. Not an easy A.. But if u work for it you can defff get an A
This class seemed hard during the duration and therefore I was somewhat surprised (pleasantly) by the A that I received. I would say I spent a lot of time stressing out about all of the information that I didn't understand and it all piled up into a big mess. But somehow I was still able to do well in the class. Final exam is easier than you think.
A fair professor if you are willing to do the work required. The final exams are easier than the rest. Fair grader and he does offer extra credit. He is very smart and he' s style is very academic/ university level style!
i liked anderson as a person, except for his fairly frequent remarks about how "pathetic" human beings are?? seems to know his stuff but i could not follow hardly anything he ever said. don't bother trying to take notes, it won't work. only redeeming part is that he posts quiz questions online. DON'T take science classes at highland lakes!!
I wouldn't say Anderson's class is an easy A. You have to earn it. For exams, you show as much work as you possibly can and he will give you points, he's not a tough grader. Hw is graded on completeness. 2 lab projects. Extra credit is offered, and he's available for help you just have to ask. He prepares his students well.
He is one of the best professors I have ever had. Very knowledgeable, concise. Exams are only 5 q's, gives very fair partial credit. Barely used the book, but it's req for the hw. Its physics, its not meant to be easy - GO TO CLASS the notes you get will help the most when studying. Labs are easy, 2 projects that take a decent amt of effort.
before you start reading everything I don't mention this description means he is good at but some things I had problems with is that his vocabulary can be hard to follow and can make you lost his lectures also you will have to think scientifically if you want to be T enjoy the class
Quizzes are written. He gives you 3 possible essay questions to study and the quiz will be one of them. If you do the work, it will pay off. Same with the star journal. Definitely not a professor you can BS into thinking you know what you're talking about when you don't. Not an easy A but worth the effort!
If you take his class (college physics 1), and persevere until the end, your problem solving skills can't help but improve. Professor Anderson will make you think. It's the first class that I've had that I couldn't solely rely on my memory to get an A. I definitely had to work for it. Don't be afraid to ask him questions. Best professor ever!!!
Anderson is a wonderful lecturer: articulate, in-depth, and helpful. He is great at explaining and answering questions. He is also the most pendantic and nitpicky prof I have ever had. Even the most conscientious students will struggle trying to avoid his red ink on everything. You WILL make countless mistakes you cant help. Dont take him, really.
He has never given me a 100% on a test & I love him for it. His class is challenging. However, he is an amazing teacher and doesn't mind explaining if you don't understand what he's saying. Not condescending at all. He encourages discussion. I got an A in his class despite not being good at physics. Attend class & the SI session and do your hw.
If you're taking this class to satisfy a requirement, or you're a lost 19 year old unsure what discipline means, you probably won't do well. This "down" side is the price for such an up side: this class is hard BECAUSE THE MATERIAL is hard, but he is as good as it gets in presenting the material clearly with a fair grading policy.
I'll be honest: I'm currently failing this class; however, this guy is beyond fair, as far as grading policies go. I shouldn't have received as high of an exam grade as I have received. I did horrible, go answers wrong, but he DOES grade on effort. He is very knowledgable and knows his stuff. He's cool, funny, dresses well, listens to good music...
Anderson definitely gives you the opportunity to succeed if you put in some effort. We had an ongoing sky journal project and two group projects. Lab grading is easy. I recommend printing the quiz lists and taking your lecture notes just on those. Overall a great class and a great professor; I miss walking into that classroom!
His tests are made up of 5 questions 20 pts each, with one of them being a conceptual question. They're also only 1 hour long which gives you no time for revision. This makes getting an A on an exam really hard. It is slightly easier on the final though; as you have 4 hours and 10 questions instead. Other than that he is a decent human being.
Took Anderson last summer and was more that happy. Great teacher! Tough grader. He gives you every chance to succeed. Labs are easy but writing the reports take some time. 5 question tests with tons of partial credit. If you really want to do good, having completed Calc 3 will make the math very doable because he usually skips a lot of steps.
Class was interesting, he is very knowledgeable. Lecture heavy but he engages students . If you are not well versed in physics/chem you will get a little lost (like I did). NOT a blow-off class! You have to work, projects are time consuming and a big part of your grade but labs are easy. Nice guy but a tough grader, expects a lot from students.
I absolutely loved this class. It was very challenging but the professor made complex concepts understandable. Only thing I hated was the group projects. It's so hard to work on a major project with students that don't care about the class.
I personally adore Mr. Anderson - I took him for astronomy. He does talk about a lot of 'unnecessary' things, but it's to better understand the topic. Test and labs were easy, but going to every class is a good idea since he goes over everything during class. He challenges his students to think more about the unknown, and develop our own beliefs.
Professor Anderson is great. He can explain things 5 different ways and he will find more if you need. He's a tough grader but what he wants is clearly defined and he is passionate about what he teaches.
Don't take his class he is a bad teacher. Not easy to work with.
Anderson is a man who is extremely intelligent. This lowers his ability to break down large concepts to the student level without making one feel dumb. He does examples once and moves on. His practice exams are harder than the homework and the exams harder than the practice exams. I would not recommend him as a professor .
Very good man. Understanding of everyone's situations outside of class and is always willing to help.
Very smart, nice guy. Pretty funny at times too. You definitely need to make sure you and your project group are on the same page in order to succeed in the projects, as those are toughly graded. Quizzes are easy at first, but get harder as the semester goes on. Highly recommend if you are a dedicated and caring student
He is a great professor. Even though his lectures sometimes seem to go on forever, he does a good job and tries to keep students engaged. He is very knowledgable and likes his job, which all shows through his work. There is a few group projects that you have to do, but the course material is pretty easy. Would recommend to take his class.
He is a professor that seems to actually care if you learn something or not. The evidence is that he allows you to correct you exams and do extra homework for extra credit. Labs are short and sweet. He is old but gets pop culture references. He tries his best for you to learn but the material itself is the antagonist.
Very challenging and hard to take notes, but Prof. Anderson is the kindest, most understanding prof you'll ever have
Mr. A is a very knowledgeable and helpful teacher. He takes the time with you to make sure you understand what is going on. Recommended!
Mr. Anderson is a great professor and very knowledgeable in his subjects, encourages participation and discussion, wants you to think for yourself, and is understanding. He never tries to make you feel stupid for being wrong. One of his biggest faults is that he's not clear about his grading criteria, and by default can seem like a tough grader.
He is very smart, and he likes to joke around but don't push the jokes. I would recommend voice recording lectures because if you miss what he's saying you won't know the quiz answers. He gives you all of the quiz questions so you know what they are. Don't put off the planetary project or you won't do good. I only used the book twice.
If you want to have an easier life in Engineering Physics 1 and 2 take Robert Donelson at AH campus. His exams are exactly the same as the Practice exams. Also, Donelson labs are easy as hell.
I don't know about other classes, but do not take this guy for Engineering Physics no matter what. He expects way too much from students and his lectures are gibberish. He seemed like a decent guy in the beginning of the semester but trust me if you want to pass this class take it somewhere else.
Getting right down to brass tacks, Professor Anderson is not a good professor. I took Physics 1 with Anderson, he has very high expectations for his students when his ability to teach is sub-par at best. If you are a student who can self-learn then go ahead and take him, if not then I would recommend looking elsewhere.
Anderson is one of the most egoistic professors I've ever met. He explains concepts very poorly, while at the same times giving the class trick questions to make himself appear smarter. His class was graded by a mix of group projects with random partners, quizzes, and labs, which were always poorly designed and explained. At least he dressed well..
Honestly doesn't seem like a bad guy. But he only does only chat sessions (essentially a big group chat where he typed out info) for lectures which wasn't a good learning method for me the final was crazy hard and 4 hours long. Do not take if you find physics difficult or are new to the subject
Anderson was probably one of the best profs I had at OCC, his class was tough, but he got you through it. Met some amazing friends in this class and enjoyed every bit of it!
Took astronomy online due to pandemic. The professor lectured through a chatroom (so no video or audio, everything was typed out). Is an extremely tough grader without explaining what he wants well enough. Had a group project paper and then we had to grade everyone elses paper, and the average of our grades for the paper is our final grade.
He starts off as clear on expectations but if you do something as simple as turn in a file thats not pdf you get a zero. Weather its a test or anything. Hes not fair in his grading. Test are always 1 answer and the grading for test is very difficult. Lectures are long and hard to follow. He doesnt really use power points.
I took this class expecting to learn physics, not English. He has these essay quizzes he has you do throughout the semester. He doesn't concentrate on you, answers of which you learned in his class, he concentrates on the English, I thought I was taking physics. He allows you to redo it with an English tutor, it won't help. I had an A in English
If you are going to take this "remote" class, know ahead of time there is no real teacher student interaction. His "lectures" are done through a group chat in the class . Yes I said a group chat lol. The physics language is extremely confusing being it is typed out without seeing the view of it being written correctly; because its "easier"that way
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF. I wish I had listened to reviews. All chat room learning. Group projects/quizzes/the final are essays. Does not give clear instructions for essays then marks you down. No EC. Oh and you have to grade your peers group projects. PowerPoints are from 2003. I learned NOTHING in this class and spent many nights fuming & in tears!
I took astronomy with professor anderson. theres not a ton of assignments, and most of them arent too hard. it just sucks because his grading criteria is so vague that if you dont give exactly what hes looking for you get marked down. he also marks down for grammar which is pretty silly. the concepts are hard but the class is passable for sure.
Peter Anderson is far and away the best Physics professor I've had in two Bachelor's degrees. The material is tough but he will help you understand if you put in the work. He always helped promptly when I had a question and his feedback led you to the right answer. If you are prepared to sweat, you will make it with him.
